NOTE:

  • The 32GB SD card has been installed and formated in the dash cam, you can connect the dash cam to the cigarette lighter to use easily.
  • If you need a larger storage, we recommend to use class 10 and above (U3 model) from 64GB-256GB. DON’T use U1 SD card. You need to format the new SD to ‘exFAT‘ on the computer before the first use.

Question & Answers

  • Why I can’t set the time through the date and time?

After the GPS module and the power cord are connected, you need to find the “Time Zone” option on the “Record Settings” page, and then select the right time zone. The time/date display will be gotten automatically by the GPS.

  • Why the speed displayed different from the actual speed?

If it is a subtle difference, it may be that the signal has been interfered, which is normal. If the difference is large, it means that your camera system needs to be upgraded. Please contact our customer support team in time. We will send the upgrade system for you.

  • Why the suction mount keeps falling off?

Please tear off the plastic film on the suction cup first. After cleaning the glass and fixing the suction cup to the window, press firmly and switch to the right to lock it. Then the suction will be very tight and will not fall off.

  • Any question, our customer support team can always help you.

At first sight, it seems like a very well made bit of kit. I like that it’s got a small form factor and so has minimal impact on your view of the road. I’m certainly intrigued by the option to hardwire it in, as I regularly use my “cigarette lighter” to charge my phone. The option to use GPS to track your journey/speed is a nice touch too.

Unfortunately, not long after I got this, my car ended up in the garage, and I still don’t have it back (waiting for parts). This means I haven’t had a chance to properly test this and form an opinion on how well it functions. Once I have, I shall come back and update my review accordingly.

The dash cam was easy to fit, the back also easy to fit, doesn’t have to be connected to the reverse light to work. Haven’t worked out how to find the tracking info yet. Excellent product.

The difference in picture quality between this and my old dashcam is remarkable. That is important for making out number plates.

The GPS works well and is essential in a dashcam as it shows your speed.

The suction cup attaches securely to my windscreen – it hasn’t fallen off.

Do not assume that any dashcam is working fine – experiment with it, at different frame rates etc. Check that you can make out number plates in front of you and to the side, including cars passing by at high speed.

    I like this dashcam.

    Pro’s:
Good picture quality in all but the darkest areas.
    Price.

    Con’s:
Not the most slickest looking unit.
    Separate GPS module.

This is not a slick looking dashcam – it’s defintely function over form! The one odd thing is the GPS module is separate – this may or may not be ideal for your particular application; it means the overall size of the unit/mount is kept small but you do have to find somewhere to place the GPS receiver. The WITCAM software is (just) OK, a little flaky if you are try to review the footage and to get to a particular moment but it does the job. The picture quality suffers on unlit roads but other than that is pretty good.
At the price point and if you’re looking for a no frills dashcam it fits the bill.

It's OK, just not as good as expected

I am a first-time dash-cam user, so maybe there is a host of features that are missing from this model that I couldn’t live without if only I knew about them. But I can’t think what they might be – this cam works exactly as I’d hoped.

The things that I was worried about in advance are well covered – I didn’t want a cable trailing across my dash, and I didn’t want the distraction of a screen illuminating the cabin. For the former, a long cable is supplier, along with sticky cable-tidy clips, and a tool for lifting up the trim to tuck the cable away. For the second issue you can turn off the screen with a simple tap.

Recording defaults to a 3-minute loop – you can select 1 or 5 minutes instead, OR you can have it record constantly and it will save 5-minute files. But once the memory card is full it will stop recording, so that option only makes sense with a large card, or for certain occasions. You can view the videos on the dashcam or on a PC with a specific app.

That’s the one thing I’d change – I’d like unencrypted video that can be played without a special app.

The picture quality is fairly decent, although doesn’t match the cameras on a modern smartphone for example. Still, the picture is clear even at night and the viewing angle is also good.

The camera is easy to use – having a touchscreen is much better than awkward buttons – although the interface is not always intuitive, for example it is sometimes possible to swipe to a second screen but there is no indication of this and it’s not animated.

Battery life is short – but it keeps the camera compact. I do worry that on a windy day the camera might activate a lot though and have no power left for recording whilst I’m parked – I know I can buy a hardwire kit but then I’m skeptical of the longevity of micro SD cards if it’s recording 24/7.
One annoyance is that when parked, any videos that are taken via motion detection are automatically locked – making it a pain to delete them. The car went into the garage a few days back and I ended up with about 20 videos (camera was disconnected and in glove box) which took ages to get rid of. This could be fixed in the app or via a firmware update.

My final criticism is that the speed of the WiFi is pretty poor. Video playback buffers constantly because the WiFi speed isn’t enough, and a 300Mb file (5 mins recording) takes 7 or 8 mins to download to my phone.

Good camera with some minor issues

Not a bad dash cam, certainly works. Doesn’t convey a feeling of quality, badly written manual and menus. However, i did like the ability to wifi view and download videos. Touch screen is quite responsive but the unit feels a little awkward to use, hard to explain, but you have to go at its pace, not yours. Not the cheapest but it does include a reasonable size memory card. You can just set and forget and it keeps recording whenever your 12V power socket it on. It has a separate GPS module if needed, but i didn’t use this. I would recommend, but don’t expect anything fancy.

I gave this dash cam to my husband as I do not drive and he likes it much better than our old camera.
It functions as the description suggests it would and the quality is much better than that of the old camera we had – the screen is more responsive, there are more functions and the picture quality is much better. So if you are looking for a camera within this price range, I would say it is well worth it. If you are happy with the functions it offers in the description, it definitely comes up to the expectations and offers a great performance, no malfunctioning or glitches (fingers crossed, for a months and months to come), and it looks well made.
It is not exactly cheap but then you get what you are paying for. In my opinion, it is a worthy investment.

First impressions are of a good quality well made camera loaded with features. Basically It’s a nice little cam which was easy to fit in my car. It’s small enough so does not make my screen look odd.

The screen is crystal clear both daytime and night vision and the colours are true. Really good quality of recording, seems robust, easy to use, simple to download to your phone / PC. Easy to mount and install, even hiding the wires is quite easy without the optional installation kit.

The instructions are clear ever for people who are a little afraid of new technology. However, Don’t be in a rush to set up. I was and had to retrace my steps but once I did the online manual was excellent. I am now up and running most of the applications.

There are Lots of great features. I found the GPS & speed indication very helpful. The Wi-Fi connection is a great help, too. It easily paired up with my phone with the help of app. It has such a crisp, clear picture when recording, the audio is also very clear, you know you are in safe hands if you ever needed to use this footage. The feature of a mph digital counter going on after about 20 seconds of recording was a great bonus . The best feature is that the footage goes straight to your smart phone ( once you have set it up to do so )

Having the Dash Cam is extremely helpful as I drive quite often. I have been using it every day for the last couple weeks and the video quality is immaculate.

Just love this dash cam, hasn’t let me down in any situation.

Its nice little camera, very easy to install as its front camera only. The resolution for picture is 4k and set on 3 min loop recording. The picture qaulity is great, on camera the registration number might not be clear, but once you download on high resolution screen like laptop works really well and every thing is readable. The wire is really long for power and have an extra option to plug another wire for phone charging. Apart from that working for me good

This is my first dashcam for my Taxi. Since I installed this in my car I am very confident while on the road.
It is very sensitive even at a small bump or little movement it starts recording. Night vision is very good and it captures nice video during nighttime.
The only thing which is not suitable for me is its size. It might be okay for others but for me, I like a bigger screen and it has not really big screen. But as compared to other pross this drawback is bearable.

Excellent quality! Replaced my old cheap one with this and the difference is huge. Picture quality is amazing especially in the night or in low light conditions. It is very easy to install and it has an SD card included so basically it is a plug and play package. The GPS unit needs a little time to connect and it shows speed with 5 MPH less then on the dashboard. Overall this is a good quality product and I am very pleased with it.

    Excellent dash cam

A very good quality dash cam and a great upgrade to my aging 1080p one.

The suction to the windscreen works flawlessly and there is no chance of this falling off unless i remove it manually. Amazing suction. The suction part isn’t the most attractive though, and a little large, my older cam used 3M adhesive, so was much more concealed, but I can get used to this.

Screen quality is good on this, and works very well.
Image quality of the recording is also very good during the day, not so great during the night. Number Plates can be easily read within 10 meters or so, which is good enough for me at a dashcam at this price.

The biggest problem I have with this is the GPS is a separate attachment, so it means even more cables around your windscreen. The GPS wasn’t totally accurate either. My google maps app is able to detect my speed as close as 1mph, yet this was around 5mph out which could end up being critical if you need to send off footage for a claim or something.

Even with these gripes, the camera is a good budget one, and will do great as a first camera for many drivers.

Please never drive without a dashcam, they are essential (unless you’re the bad driver of course..)

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThe iiwey Dash Cam is a good option for a small but effective and simple, intuitive dash cam as long as you don’t expect crystal clear video.

The cam comes in a nicely presented box. It contains the camera itself, a car charger, an external, optional, GPS adapter, a mini USB cable (for attaching the GPS) and a tool to help with cable management on the car.

The camera is preinstalled with an own branded 32 GB, U3 class SD Card. There were several warnings on both the camera and in the instruction manual that this needs to be formatted on a PC first with specific settings so bear this in mind if you do not have a PC with a memory card reader at home. I didn’t test what would happen if this wasn’t done though I can see other reviewers didn’t follow this step and seemed to be fine.

On default settings (4K 30fps at H.265 compression) recordings were about 80MB/sec so the card can hold about 6-7 hours of footage which is pretty decent. You can change the settings to record at 2K or 1080p and at 30fps or 60fps to reduce the size of the files / provide more footage. This may be useful for the always on functionality (which requires the cam to be hardwired to the car which I did not do).

The video quality was disappointing, whilst at 4k I could see the picture was generally good there were a lot of compression artefacts which meant that the picture in motion was unclear. Given the main selling point of this camera is the 4k footage this was poor. Ultimately though the footage was still good enough for its purpose of determining number plates, cars and surroundings so only docking 1 star for this.

By default videos are stored each minute in duration, though configurable to 2m or 5m. You can also set the video to auto detect G Forces associated with an accident and auto record and lock that video. I wasn’t able (not willing ) to proactively test this. Note this is on by default and has configurable sensitivities.

The video starts recording the moment your car powers up (typically from unlocking the car), through to up to a minute after the car power drops (again typically when you lock). I found this very reliable and great that it worked without any intervention using the default settings.

The included car charger comes with a super long cable which allows you to cable manage this around the car, using the included plastic spudger. This was pretty easy to do and a good solution. I would have preferred the cable to be detachable from the charger though, we were already using both of our car charger sockets which had open usb sockets but had to unplug in favour of using this one. Feasibly we could get a long mini USB cable and use it with our existing charger but wary of it not providing the right power output. As an aside too I would have preferred USB-C charging for devices in 2021 as I have plenty of those cables and no mini USB cables.

Overall, this was a very simple to set up Dash Cam with plenty of configurability. I would have preferred a more standard USB-C charging, a detached cable from the charger and less compression artefacts in the resultant video. However for your first dash cam this is a good option.

Intuitive and configurable, picture quality could be bette

I’ve wanted a dash cam for ages now, and I must say that the IIwey S3 was very easy to get up and running. Everything you need to get started is provided in the box. Dash cam, mount, GPS module, USB data cable, car charger with built in mini USB cable, 32gb microSD card and manual. Once mounted to the windscreen, and car power socket, the dash cam automatically comes to life and starts recording. It can record in 4K@30fps, 2.5K@30fps and 1080p@30/60fps. Plenty of easy to navigate settings on the clear touch screen display. Along with the separate GPS module that secures to the windscreen with double sided adhesive pad which gives the ability to display times, vehicle speed. On the main dash cam body you have the power button to turn the device on/off if you hold it for three seconds, and with a short press you can turn the display off, which I do then its not much of a distraction, but its still recording which is great. You can download an app to your mobile and connect to the dash cam via wifi and you can download an app to the pc, so you have the choice to review your footage and edit either way. You can buy additional microSD cards up to 128GB to operate in this dash cam. The dash cam by default loop records in 1, 3, 5 minute intervals, I’ve have it set on 1 minute. It has a photo mode, screensaver, different frame rate settings 50/60Hz, wide dynamic range on/off, G-sensor, etc. Also to tidy up the cable management around the car there is an included plastic tool, that helps lift the rubber trims so the cables can go underneath and out of site.
A very capable dash cam for when your out and about driving.

Practical, useful and easy to operate.

This is a great dash cam for peace of mind. I definitely recommend it if you drive as part of your job.

It comes with 32GB memory card, and it’s linked to GPS which is handy. The quality of the picture is great both day and night (4K resolution) and so far there’s no lags. It covers a large area with no blind spots. It connects to WiFi and it connects to battery via cable to your car’s cigarette charger. There’s certain features that offer more security such as activation in case of collision.

I would have liked to use it without it connecting to my car for power (in case I needed to charge my phone for example). I would have also liked Bluetooth connection instead of WiFi as it can use up a lot of data.

Installation was relatively easy and made easier by the touch screen.

    Overall we recommend this.

  23. ShereeThurman says:

There is a lot to like about this . It is well-made , not cheap or plasticy. It is relatively easy to set up and a lot of the functions are accessible from the touch screen.

The picture quality is fantastic – essential for evidence in accidents and it locks footage where an accident has been detected by the software . Interestingly it comes with a 32gb memory card and this can be expanded though given it records over the oldest footage, less said ‘locked’ footage I don’t see why this would ever be necessary .

The only let down for me is that you need another cable to set up the GPS to function properly and I was left wondering why this couldn’t have somehow been integrated .

Generally though , this bit of tech is a cut above , well worth the asking price and deserves at least the four stars I have given it .

I have not had a dash cam before so this is new to me. This one is pretty straight forward and the GPS unit is separate. It comes with e 32 GB memory card fitted and preformatted. It does have an internal and rechargeable battery, but for main power you plug it into the cigarette lighter via the lead supplied and it automatically comes on when you start up your car. To attach it to the windscreen there are suckers which I found to work well and the videos it takes can be viewed directly from the dash cam itself or you could alternatively download them via Wifi to a PC which I have not felt a need to do so far. Picture quality seems very good and once I can get around to trying to hide the cables out of view, it will be a really nice addition to my car.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI have wanted a dash cam for some time but this is my first experience with one. Set up was very easy, just plug in to your cigarette lighter port and start the car, it works straight out of the box. The camera comes with a 32GB Micro SD Card which was a bonus. You can fit your own card up to 128GB if you wish. There are lots of options on the touch screen display to enhance performance. Filming starts when you start the engine and stops when you switch the engine off. You can also have it running continously in a loop if you change the settings. Just fit and forget!

The ‘Witcam’ software for playback is already on the card and just has to be installed on your PC. I’m running Windows 10 and had no issues installing to my laptop. The software defaults to Chinese which is unusual for a product sold in the UK. But there is a settings icon in the top right hand corner of the display with a drop down menu. The first option is another drop down to set the language to English. There is also ‘Witcam Pro’ which can be installed on your smartphone, available from your favourite app store. Picture quality on playback is excellent and there is sound too!

There is a detailed instruction booklet included and installation videos are available on YouTube.

I rigged this up on a temporary basis to test it. There is a separate GPS unit that is optional. I have now started to hard wire everything into the car which is surprisingly easy. A tool is provided to hide the wire behind panels. Give some thought to where you want the camera. I ended up putting it behind the rear view mirror as I don’t want to be distracted while driving. The whole setup can almost be invisible.

I can’t compare this to other makes and models but I am more than happy with this iiwey dash cam and would be happy to recommend it.

    Brilliant 4k Dash Cam!

This is a typical dash cam with the exception that the GPS unit is separate. A 32GB memory card comes with the dash cam and, is formatted and fitted. The on-screen icons are a bit fiddly if you have large fingers. It has an internal rechargeable battery that allows a short period of operation. Primary power is via a supplied lead that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket, and automatically switches on the dash cam when the car is started. The windscreen sucker fixing held the dash cam in place despite Bristol’s pot-holed roads. Videos can be viewed on the dash cam, or download by WiFi or to a computer. Unfortunately, the downloaded viewer for Windows had Chinese text and didn’t appear to run in Windows 11.

I tried it on a grey, wet late afternoon, but images were good and, there wasn’t any flair from car headlights on the opposite side of the road. Because of the Windows viewer, I was unable to check whether registrations were clear. It needs further development of the viewer and, maybe the GPS unit should be mounted within the dash cam.

This is a really great value 4k dashcam, it has the sony sensor too which is a big plus at this price point, many of the big-name more expensive models use this same sensor and it’s well implemented here too, 4k footage is great for seeing details and you can really crop into the footage to extract details like car registrations, this is so important with the number of drive-offs that happen, it also has the g sensor to protect footage incase of a crash and also record anyone who bumps into you whilst parked, build quality seems fine and the windows suction mount is good too, top marks from me for this great little dash cam.

I’ve never owned a Dash Cam before so I can’t compare to other models on the market so this is my honest opinion of this model.
Firstly when I removed the Dash Cam from the box I was impressed with the quality of this product, the Dash Cam come’s with a 32GB Micro SD card which is already installed and formatted so is ready to record.
You can add a 128 GB SD card also.
The GPS is not built in and come’s separately and connects to the Dash Cam with a separate cable (provided). The image quality was superb and very clear during the day and on a dark night, time and date was easy to set up, hiding the cables was easy as I run the cable along the top of the windscreen (into roof lining) down the side of the door (into the rubber seal and plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Once connected I switched the engine on and the GPS took exactly 10 minutes to connect to the Dash Cam, once GPS was connected the MPH showed up on the Cam but was 8 MPH out, for example I was travelling at 40 MPH and the Cam showed I was doing 32 MPH, this happened continuously through different speeds.
I removed the SD card from the Cam and watched footage recorded on my Laptop and recorded footage was very clear without any issues.
I like the fact that once you start the engine the Cam starts recording instantly and stops when you turn the engine off automatically without touching it.
You can set the recording for 1 minute 3 minutes or 5 which will do a loop of continuous recording.
    Come’s with WiFi/loop recording/WDR which is Wide Dynamic Range/Motion Detection/Parking Monitor/Photo Mode/Microphone/GPS/Start Stop Recording/Lock Button.
Display is very easy to read and very clear.
Comes fully with instructions and took 15mins to set up in the car (hiding all cables).
I wouldn’t hesitate at all recommending this Dash Cam especially for the price, the Cam is of good quality and could pass for being more expensive than other top models on the market.

This has been dead easy for a non tech savvy person like me to set up, following the manual provided,

I’ve been using the roadcamm app, and it’s been smooth sailing since installing.

Night time driving, is captured perfectly, the touch screen works perfectly and what’s helped me the most is
the loop recording feature, what it does essentially is wipe all old data when the included SD card is full,
so you can never worry about that.

Overall, there are a lot of features, in this dash cam, but for me, the image quality is perfect and everything looks how it should, the build quality is excellent and is a reliable dash cam all round.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersWorks very similar to the dashcam I already own with a few good/different options.

Mine doesn’t do 24hr surveylance but this Iiwey one can if you hard wire it. Mine has wifi/gps within the unit the Iiwey has a separate gps cable so you can choose whether to install and use or not. This unit is also slightly bigger than mine but has about the same quality screen picture while recording. Mine has buttons to access it’s operations the Iiwey one is a touch screen. Comes with a pre-installed memory card which the instructions state to format before using for the first time and like most other dash cams I’ve owned it recommends to reformat every couple of weeks (I only do mine approximately every month if I remember) to extend the life of both the card and quality of recording – according to the instructions.

You can change most of the settings as I have and the instructions have a few helpful hints as to what to set things to for your type of driving ie I do a fair bit of driving at night so the instructions suggest recording at 60fps to dampen the effect of oncoming headlights. Can be just plugged into your usb car socket and used without any adjustments if you are not keen on delving into the workings. This comes with a suction cup which I always prefer, usb to the older thicker not micro usb or also includes a cigarette power cable if you prefer. Recordings are good and there is an app that you can download to allow for viewing the pics on your mobile/tablet if you prefer. I’ll be using this on the back window as the unit is more noticeable and I want vehicles behind me to know it is there.
