This product is excellent value for money,.
All the features that I have used so far work as expected and do the job very well.
Some parts are not quite as refined as on more expensive routers but everything works adequately and it represents good value for money.
I decided to lash out on the kit with the three bases, trim, plunge and the angled one. I’ll probably never use the angled one.
My brother got the basic trimmer which I used first but for a beginner at routing I didn’t like the tiny trimmer base. The plunge base is OK and I have screwed the trimmer to a board to make a routing table.
I’m a home DIY user so I’m not expecting this to do 8 hours a day chomping away at oak beams, but I have used it on small oak pieces and softwood.
For the cost I think the router itself feels good and the bases are not bad.
I had to replace some old doors and after watching video’s how to do it using a palm router I purchased this.
It mad it to easy when fitting the new hinges to the door and frame.
I also used it to help build a small cupboard over my electricity meter.
I bought the kit with the plunge router and angle holder and I think it would be something I will use in the future.
The only thing I have knocked a star off for was not getting any bits with the kit.
I am not a woodworker of any sorts , but fancied having a go , all the bases to do way more then I need but nice to have .

I have a ‘big’ router – that is a brand model with powerful motor and half inch collet. It is quite big, quite heavy, quite unwieldy, and coupled with a carbide spiral bit, can chop through 18mm ply in a single pass – this operation is not recommended at all btw, but that is the nature of a beast, and it is a beast. What I have described thus far is most certainly not a palm router. Now, try cutting a quick chamfer with that particular router and it’s quite a faff.
So to the Katsu. I decided to take a punt on this little beauty as the price was relatively modest. I haven’t experienced any of the issues described in other’s reviews and have been using the Katsu for about 1.5 years now. Performance has been flawless.
My opening paragraph describes one half of my router strategy, and the Katsu is the other. It is a light duty router having a quarter inch collet as standard. Other collet sizes and accessories are available. Once satisfied with the quality I purchased a 6mm and 8mm chuck for very little money, as well as the brass guide bush set which fit the plunge base. No issues with these either.
I think it’s important to treat a palm router for what it is and not expect it to undertake tasks better suited to a more substantial machine. I use the katsu for light work like round over’s or chamfers on edging. It fits easily in the palm and certainly feels less ‘formidable’ in use than the larger half inch collet routers. It is possible to feel what is going on with the cutter far more easily and the router is easy to move around and handle one-handed is necessary. It has a far more forgiving feel than the larger routers and is a very different tool, even if there are overlaps with capabilities. The adjustment can be a little vague but solid once set up, just take a little longer than it might if things like the micro-adjust were resolved better.
If I felt the need to have an impeccably resolved tool of this type, that is a palm router, I would buy the DEWALT DCW604NT. However the DEWALT is over 3x the cost for a bare tool without batteries. I think that would be the best, but for me, the katsu is easily good enough to perform the lighter duties that the larger routers aren’t great at. I put up with occasionally fiddly set-up and have saved hundreds; most of the time the chamfer bit lives in the router anyway, so no sweat.
I note that other reviewers have experienced issues but this in no way reflects my experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending this router for this price for lighter duties.
Perfect little trimmer.
If you are not into “Brands” this will be a good purchase

Good for the money, easy to use, extremely quiet compared to cheaper models. Arrived quite fast too and has a decent degree of accuracy
So this particular make of palm router is the one and only (power) tool I have and use regularly instead of going up-market for my beloved Makita tools. Comparatively speaking it’s dirt cheap, and while I’m no stranger to the concept of buy cheap, work cheap, this router is definitely an exception that proves the rule. I would actually stand this against a Makita or any other bigger named brands all day long.
Just remember it’s a palm router! Get something bigger and heavier of you’re going to be surfacing a slab of wood to make a big table. Horses for courses, an’ all that.
I spent ages trying to decide which router to buy as a first router. Most woodworkers seem to more than one so it seemed logical to start small and work up. This one is absolutely ideal for a complete beginner. Its first task was for a fairly large project building shelves for my study using a straight bit to recess the shelf support strips in 18mm MDF. My cheap set of mixed bits (Silverline) wasn’t really up to the job but once I got an Axminster bit it worked like a dream.
I have since used it to make several pine trims and the Silverline bits are fine for small jobs. Using the Katsu has given me so much confidence that I have started looking at half inch routers. However the Katsu is so light and easy to use that I am sure it will remain a favourite for smaller jobs. Highly recommended.

I love these little tools I can now do a lot with them excelle
Great little router. Recommended to me by another. Easy to use and has proved to be a good little work tool. Feels nice and solid and good quality. Good value for money.

Quality is ok. Only used for (hinge template making) & 15 hinge cut outs. Results are great!!. The clamp came loose on a few occasions when trimming- the nut needed tightening, since then it performed ok.
Plunge base easy to use. I wouldn’t rely on the depth measurements on the guides. I attached a powerful vacuum to it- tbh, didn’t collect much. Would I recommend it- YES, for occasional use that I need it, well worth it. Use quality cutters!! I’ve spent as much on good quality cutters as I did on the router! (I recommend Trend)

To be honest haven’t used it yet but all looks well made.
This was well worth the price. A lot of tool for the money. A good addition to my workshop
Only used it the once, but a lot easier to control than my old plunge router. A great package and would recommend to others thinking of buying a palm router. Sometimes the most expensive isn’t always the best. Good product – worth watching the Youtube reviews.

Ive been using this for making speaker baffles, cutting out the speaker holes and chamfers in 30mm oak kitchen worktop and making templates in some basewood. very impressed for the money. If it said Makita on it I wouldn’t have second guessed it. probably not quite the quality as the name brands when you look at some of the machining of the components or build quality. But more importantly it works very well.

Works really well.
Slight cosmetic issue with the rubber grips (pealing, needs glued back down.)
But deff worth it for the price.

Excellent would recommend to others. Don’t know how I managed without it. Only bought after watching a review on YouTube and now so happy I did.
I’m very happy with the tool where I’ve used for DIY & professional use. Excellent for sheerness & easy to use & control of tool for different purposes.
Thank you for quality & price for same range of the tool.
Perfect hand held router/trimmer very good for the more serious diy.er. Well made and with all accessories is a great value purchase. Highly recommend.

I bought this for a single job, expected it to die in use but at the price was worth a punt.
WHAT A SHOCK! when I opened the box the quality or the tool and the components was high, the product operates powerfully and without fuss. Easily competes with the brands that are selling at 2/3 &4 times as much!!!

This has been bought for smaller work with a router. To me it’s fantastic. High quality, not too noisy, more than enough power for its size, easy to handle. With this complete kit I doubt if there is any need to. Uk any more it’s so versatile. Ha e used it on a couple of test pieces to get used to it and it did them with ease. I know it’s not a top of the range one , all can say is for me there is no need to consider one of those for home use . Not being a professional it will not be used for hours on end so I cannot comment on its lifespan . For home use on virtually all my projects it will do the job easily. One thing I would say is be alert to the speed settings for different sized bits and use good quality bits.

Value for money? Absolutely! Motor is a little rough but not enough to moan about when price to item ratio quality is fantastic! Will do what you want no problem, just respect pass cut depth and all will be smiles…

Absolutely cracking piece of kit! Robust very quiet and accessories are a bonus, lovely little palm router for the money
I have had this router for a couple of months now, so have used it quite a few times with its various attachments & various bits. Overall, I am highly impressed with its performance. I have had no issues with any of the attachments, everything was spot on, straight out of the box. As a hobbyist, this gets used a couple of times a week, but over a sustained period of time per use, as I wood carve, & its been flawless. Having variable speed is a real plus point, as it is very useful, as not every bit you may want to use demands full on power. So, you get this router plus three bases, or you could pay three times the price for a similar base only model of a well known brand, but is it three times better?

Wow
What can I say about this amazing little router, I purchased it awhile ago and thought I would wait to give my review on it, only once tried and tested can I give an honest opinion,
I made myself a four poster bed sometime ago and thought the best best way to test and practice was on this, as I wouldn’t just be limited to a just flat surface and would have to work on multiple angles and hights.
It was beavering away for a lot of the day on different types of wood mainly old solid planks of oak and didn’t show signs lagging, kept at a good temperature, a little noisy but use your PPE, the waight of isn’t bad when working at height, really easy to swap the attachments over, I got their complete set, Wich I would advise if you can rather than just the one attachment, you’ll achieve more

Christmas gift so too soon to comment sorry…. Opened and used. Highly delighted with it.
I have had a lot of use from this handy little machine. Great value!

Cost is value for money. The router gets hot if run for any length of time.
DIY tool not for the tradesma
Bought this to use with my hinge jig to hang doors. Its got a bit vibration to it but does the job well.

Really good item for the price. More than capable of handling what you throw it at. does get a bit hot after a while though. But recommended.
Used to rebate hinges and door catches. Nice light and very easy to use.
I purchased this for my husband to help when he fitted our our doors. He absolutely loves it and has used it on other projects around the house and garden. Would highly recommend.
despite being sold on the cheaper side this item shows good quality. Nothing to worry about. Plunge base and tilt base also convincing. Provided an appropriate handling like with all other tools, it should last a very long time. If you need a 6mm / metric collet you can use a Sleeve ( no Nut and Collet ) from Makita. So, I am very happy with my purchase. Extra tip….usually If something breaks on all tools no matter what Brand it is, the speed control. I bought this for the Katsu just in case for little money.

As a working carpenter I came across the Makita Palm Router on a job earlier this year. I was impressed by the ease of chopping in hinges on a door. Decided to buy one, when I stumbled across this one for a fraction of the price and fully loaded too with all the accessories.
This router is a great investment. It’s small, easy to use and easy to pack away too. Have used it to chop in hinges (great when there are knots where the hinges should be!), locks, rebating french doors, edging laminates and rounding off the edges of oak thresholds.
Time will tell how long it lasts, but with sensible use (bearing in mind it’s not a 1/2″ router and it doesn’t pretent to be!) I reckon it should last a while.

Great little tool so far.
I have been using a Dongcheng router for last 3 years…..fixed speed, quite noisy and heavy to hold for a long time. I must say that it does pack a wallop.
The Katsu router/trimmer is definitely smaller, quieter and lighter than the Dongcheng. The variable speed function is a bliss! Changing bits is not difficult. Works smoothly.
Haven’t tried the plunge or tilt base so far but am quite happy with it as of now.

Bought this katsu trimmer for the attachments to fit on a makita which they fit perfectly after a slight adjustment of the tension nut of the locking leaver.quaility looks a bit cheap but great for the price trimmer plus attachments seems a good buy .I haven’t used the katsu trimmer yet attachments ok with makita.

Heavier than what I thought but that is due to build quality.
Excellent for the money. Seems pretty good quality. Useful for getting into tight spaces compared with a full size router.
As a joiner I have been using this little router for about a week now and I very impressed. I used it to cut flutes in tulip wood .16 runs in one pass and it did the job beautifully . I also used it for bull nosing with no problems at all . Great value for money!
Nice, quality tool! It feels solid and well build, and if it wasn’t for the sticker you wouldn’t know it is a Makita. It does an amazing job and it’s much lighter and easier to handle, than my bigger 1600w router. Of course it is not a replacement, but an addition in my tool collection…as for large bits, a more powerful router is needed.
Great piece of kit , works well under load and is easily adjusted using the fine adjustment nob , easy too control and added bonus that it comes with all th attachments. Wouldn’t be without one , great addition too any tool ki
The router is great, care with plunge base. Ignoring the plunge base where the springs smashed the split ring from its placing. This router feels sooo solid and when it spins up you feel very little in wobble.

So far, this has been an absolutely excellent little router. To think it comes with the router, a PLUNGE base, a small Tilt base AND a small laminator base, for this price, its amazing.
I cant see much difference between this and a Makita or the like, its a great tool!
Well worth the money.
A great bit of kit, have used it now for a while, no faults found, paid for its self first week of work
