Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to replace the one I had for five years which I think the battery gave up . I wanted cordless as I’m nervous of electric in the garden. I use this cut up my Xmas tree to put in bin. Cut small trees, cut roots from shrubs to remove them and the new one cut through wooden border fencing . It is really useful and great if like me you don’t have strength or patience for a normal saw.

This is the best saw I have ever owned! I highly recommend it for anything upto 3/4 cm as it goes through it like butter: light and easy to use with a handy guard, it automatically speeds when it detects the wood and then slows down when it’s through. As it’s light you can use it all day and at all angles. The safety button took a few tries to get used to it but it’s not a problem. It had made light work of tasks ! Super product and I highly recommend it.

I borrowed my sons De-walt reticulating saw to trim a shrub, but found it too heavy. (3 kg), and required 2 hands to hold it. The vibration from the branch was excessive and painful on the hand. I bought this as it is only 900 gm. It can be used with one hand and cut through that same shrub with ease, even without using the gripper. I was wondering about the reported poor battery life, but felt it should not be a problem as it will only be used to trim shrubs etc. It can get into tight spaces, whereas before, I had to struggle with different saws.

I was not tio sure about the power of this saw. But after using it it is a brilliant tool to own.
The saw is light to hold ans so easy to operate. I have used it to cut tree branches up to 5cm thick and it only takes seconds with no effo

This is a first class machine that makes the job of pruning that much easier. Branches thicker than a lopper can manage are easy meat for this tool. Would have liked the battery to have been removable and a spare available but still a five star bit of equipment.

The Keo saw is good for pruning branches up to about 60mm, although cutting large diameter branches takes some time and holding down the switch is tiring. Large cuts also deplete the battery quite quickly. The Keo can accept many standard reciprocating saw blades so can be used to cut a wide range of materials.
It would be more versatile if it used the interchangeable Bosch “all 12volt” batteries.

This is a good little piece of kit. It happily on full charge cuts easily through branches several inches in diameter. It’s light and easy to use too. Battery gives about twenty minutes intensive use so that’s the only downside but a bigger battery would take away how light it is in one hand.

I am partially disabled and can no longer use secateurs very well as I have arthritis in my hands. This allows me to do lots of pruning and other jobs in the garden- I was/am a keen gardener! I use both hands on the switches as I do not have sufficient power in one. It is very light. My helper in the garden (able bodied) also thinks it is excellent!

I am in my 70’s and love my garden but I have arthritis and need some help. I have only used it once so far due to weather conditions but was amazed how easily it went through. At first I thought it had just come off the branch somehow but it went through in a matter of seconds. Can’t wait to get busy

Used it for cutting all types of wood. It’s cut logs, branches, pallets, it’s been dropped, it’s always cutting firewood. A handy little saw. The only gripe I have is, I have to charge the battery after use. It’s great. Bought several spare blades.

For years I have used jig saws, hand saws to cut down branches etc.
Bosch sent out some marketing stuff which impressed me. Duly ordered and used multiple times. It really does a good clean cut very quickly, with the minimum of fuss.
Battery life is good, recharging takes a couple of hours from completely flat.

My wife wanted something light yet efficient to prune some bushes, so we bought this item. It was easy to use and did the job well and that is what we wanted. No doubt it would be unsuitable for professional use or for a large garden but it was fine for our needs.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersExtremely happy with this item. I am female in my 80’s and I cut a wild plum hedge which was out of control down to shoulder height.
I can see if you are young and want to get the job done it would be frustrating to run out of power so quickly, but recharging is so fast I did not find this a problem if I wanted to keep going. 5/10 minutes and I was fit to go again.

I thought I would just add that after using this miracle for a few weeks. The more times it is used and charged the longer it keeps going before a recharge is needed. If I could give 10 stars I could.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersBought mine in 2014 and bless it every time I use it it’s made such a difference to my gardening. I have 70m of thick growing wych elm that I tackle each year with this. I don’t have much upper body strength so ended up searching reviews for products suitable for disability and this came up. It has a relatively short duty cycle before needing recharging but I need to rest myself ever half hour or so and my saw charges up at the same rate as my body.

Obviously it’s a case of tools for the job. If you’re a strong person wanting to work all day then buy a heavier petrol fuelled product. If you’re just interested in taking the effort out of pruning on a slow, steady rate of work and you can’t manage a bigger tool then this is perfect.

Got this at a good price and it has been brilliant. Needed something I would feel safe using up a ladder to trim thick prick blackthorn and hawthorn hedges and I didn’t fancy a chain saw and the worry of throwing chains or problematic petrol engines. It worked brilliantly, getting up to 60 mins working time in a charge. Recharge was pretty quick too. The great thing is it’s so small and easy to get into small places with and you can work away from a power supply. Wrapped around loft beams trying to chop up a superfluous water tank to get tit out was so much easier once I had this little tool. It’s great for jobs down the allotment, it will handle some pretty thick wood and branches.
It would be even better if the battery was removable so you can charge one or have one in back up whilst you’re using it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis wasn’t quite as easy to use as I hoped but that might be because my expectations were to high. Also, it got easier to use the more I used it and I got familiar with the best way to hold it etc. The half hour battery life wasn’t really a problem as I managed to do a lot in 30 mins and my arms were a bit tired so quite glad to stop. Certainly it made short work of branches that I would never have been able to manage with a pruning saw. Good buy.

Great little tool this! Ideal size and perfectly balanced to use single handed while the free hand holds the branch. You could successfully argue that a cheaper corded model has more muscle but this little dude has more than enough power to do the job.
The only thing slightly negative is the integrated battery and the recharge time/wait….but all things considered it’s still worth it!

  46. Anonymous says:

While the battery life is always going to be it’s biggest limiting factor, you can cut enough and it cuts well. On hindsight, it might have been better to have bought a saw that didn’t have an integrated battery, so that you could have a spare to carry on cutting

Golden Review Award: 73 From Our UsersWhen you are up the top of a ladder ( and you are starting to get on a bit ) tools get very heavy very quickly. This is such a change from heavy chainsaws or working hard with a saw . I used this at the top of a ladder and cut through branches up to 4 inches . Light and easy to use , battery life around 15 – 20 mins of heavy use. So far very pleased with it .

    Update …

After 16 months the battery seemed to suddenly lose 99% of its charge .
As the product comes with 24 month warranty as standard I phoned the number on the Bosch tools site and in under 14 days I had a brand new saw . The Bosch call centre was friendly and helpful , all I had to do was box it up and print out my Amazon order email . No charges for picking up or the delivery of the new item . Plus I have a note telling me when my warranty runs out .

All in all I am very impressed with their customer service .

Awesome. I love it! I bought this to help out at my mum’s place, sorting out overgrown bushes. This worked a treat. Seems to hold its charge for a long session of work. I was not sure I really needed this little pruning saw but temptation got the better of me. For the past few months it has become indispensable, cutting the stems and branches too tough for the secateurs. The blade cuts surprisingly thick branches, especially with the protective guide installed. The saw is light and easy to carry and I wander the garden with secateurs in one hand and this little saw in the other.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a new purchase so I haven’t used it exhaustively yet. However I have used it to prune some neglected shrub roses, a task that with a manual saw would have been very difficult because of access to the branches that needed to be cut, with great ease and success. There are more to do! The saw seems well constructed and durable; charges rapidly (empty to full is around three hours). I haven’t used it to exhaustion yet so am not sure of the working life of one charge. I have yet to master a comfortable hand grip since one needs to release a safety catch with thumb or forefinger and simultaneously depress the trigger. The safety catch can be released once running. The speed of the reciprical action can be controlled by the degree to which the trigger is depressed but I guess most users will use it “full speed ahead”. The “A” attachment is used to hold a branch allowing one-handed use. It works fine but there is a knack needed to remove and replace the attachment (this is shown diagramatically in the literature supplied). I still have eight fingers and two thumbs. Safety is emphasised in the literature. Wearing sturdy gloves, and ideally eye protection, is recommended but the most important thing to remember is to keep BOTH hands away from the blade. Develop a one handed technique and do not use you other hand to steady the workpiece or to apply extra pressure.

So far I am very pleased with this purchase. I have only used the blade supplied but one can purchase blades for metal or a sabretoothed blade for garden use, although the blade supplied cuts green wood satisfactorily.

The blade is only about 15 cm long so don’t expect to be able to attack a forest tree! Leave that to the tree surgeons!

This is a decent tool that is only let down to a degree by the short battery life. That said, I was working it quite hard in dismantling my own garden shed which was probably a tougher job than it was designed for. It is perfect for cutting through branches, though I’ve not found an excuse to cut up any piping yet.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter reading several revues for this cordless multisaw and seeing they were pretty mixed I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway. And I’m very glad I did. It helped me remove thick ivy roots around a window that had been there for years and lots of small to average sized branches from a fir tree near the kitchen window. I can see it’s going to serve me well over the coming months and save me a whole lot of time. I would definitely recommend it but don’t expect it to continue as long as a battery powered hedge trimmer will as it will run out of juice eventually. Fortunately for me it lasted longer than my energy levels did and it soon charges up again for another burst of activity after a couple of hours!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent item, previously spending 15 mins on one tree branch is now done in seconds. I trimmed a large section of trees down within the hour and these hadn’t been done for well over 10 years. The wireless power allows me not to get stuck in a large amount of cabling as being powered battery (the only part was I don’t know if the battery pack can be replaced as it is encased in rubber at the back of the tool, it maybe replaceable but I haven’t found out if so.), yes this did run out of juice, after 1 hour and half continuous use the power indicator was implying it was at a low level. Don’t get me wrong it won’t be a tool to clear your garden full of 20 trees, this tool is for general trimming and cutting of wood for DIY. Great alternative instead of using the hand saw, in regards to the blade condition after cutting 3-4 different types of tree’s it seems to be still in good condition for next time use.

I will be purchasing some extra blades in the future though. Using the tool is simple and the setup for switching the saw blade is great, no looking for allen keys like other power tools. The branch grabbing/support tool is good feature as it keep the saw stable and accurate.

The saw works very well, has good speed control, comfortable to use and easy to clean. It is lighter than I expected, handy for using with one hand. You only get one blade supplied so order spares.

The only downside is the charger plug – S-Video type which works but is difficult to locate in the socket. However, I was not prepared to return it and if it proves awkward for me to use, spouse will replace the plug.

I had some branches that needed cut down and due to the size of them this fitted the bill. Only drawbacks were the guard came pinging off while in use and the blades do not last very long. A battery charge seems to last longer than the blade but that may be down to the type of wood.

I brought this to cut thick wooden branches with one hand free and it does this very well. The attachment for holding branches works well. There is not too much vibration and it cuts quickly so it is pleasant to use. It holds its charge over a few days at least. I found that it would enable you to cut all the branches from a medium sized tree on one charge. There is good indication when it is fully charged. I found it very easy to manipulate with one hand.

This bridges the gap between secateurs and a chain saw. It is amazing what short work this makes of pruning anything less than about 2 ins diameter. My only gripe is that the battery should have been detachable with its own charger rather than having to plug the charger into the handle. I will always worry that the connector will fail.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve just been cutting wood for our log burner, not full size logs but it easily cuts 4×2″ planks. I would think it would cut 4×4″ posts.
You have to make sure that the body of the saw, or the grab attachment if fitted, is firmly pushed against the wood or it’ll just shake and vibrate. Safer than a chainsaw.

Just right for those bigger branches. Be warned, vibrates quite a bit, no unexpected, and no indication of battery state on the charger.

    Useful tool to have thgough.

This is the most amazing piece of kit. I saw it recommended in the Daily Telegraph, as recommended by one of their readers, and it absolutely meets all the criteria. It cuts through tree branches like a knife through butter. It makes the whole task of keeping boundary hedges under control, which used to be the bane of our lives, a piece of cake. If you have boundary trees that need to be kept under control, you need this saw! There’s only one problem… it’s providing a lot of work for our Bosch shredder.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe just cut a large number of branches off a medium-sized tree in our back garden (with a manual saw). That took several hours and an awful lot of effort. Then, I realised I’d need to cut each of those branches 8-10 times each (into manageable pieces for transport to the local dump) – so far I’d only had to cut them each the once!

Enter the Bosch Keo, which I then ordered and used to clear the mountain of tree branches littering my back lawn. For branches up to a couple of inches thick, this is the perfect tool. Cuts through almost like butter. I think it’s easiest with the supplied guard in-place, as this helps to keep the blade straight and makes cutting optimal, I find. Other reviewers have discussed using this saw for much larger branches – I think that is a mistake. This saw simply isn’t designed for that. Likewise, for really small twigs (5mm or less), a pair of good seceteurs is best.

Why did I choose this? Firstly, Bosch is always the highest quality. This product definitely lives up to that expectation. The second reason was that it has no mains cord. Climbing up a ladder to cut tree branches, I frankly don’t trust myself with a coord dangling behind me.

In summary then, perfect for small (1/2 inch diameter or more) to medium (2 inch) diameter branches. I wish I had bought this years ago.

NB I have not tried cutting anything else – e.g. plastic, metal, etc.

I bought this saw to cut down the wilderness that had grown in my garden. It dealt with everything with aplomb (branches up to 3 inches thick) and provided a couple of hours of intermittent use before requiring a recharge – which takes 3 hours. The best thing about this saw is it is cordless so I didn’t need to use a 100 foot extension lead.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHaving a decent number of mature trees to shape means a lot of pruning at time. Hand-sawing thick branches is not the easiest, especially in awkward places, but the Keo make the job so much easier, especially when cutting the larger pieces to fit the bin.

What used to take days now done in a few hours. Used to take days to saw through overgrown hedgerow bushes, which in all the rain became trees. This product has made gardening much easier and the trees & shrubs look well cared for.

This is an excellent saw, If you follow the instructions carefully it is extremely easy to use and really does do what it says! I managed to saw a large amount of branches (quite thick ones to) before the battery ran out. I am really pleased with this purchase it did not disappoint!

Very good piece of kit, could have been better if it was designed to use the 10.8 industrial re-charge batteries,of wich i have 6off,the charger connection is a bit fidly.and the one hour recharge time can be a hold up. so my answer to these niggles was to get another KEO,i now have the best of both worlds, always one fully charged, and with a pack of 5 blades, ican leave one set up in the carpentry workshop,i will give this tool 10 out of 10 especialy if you get it from AMAZON THE BEST DEAL IN TOWN.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI’ve just ordered this product, after doing considerable research and because I already own two other Bosch cordless
    garden tools.

I will update this review after I’ve used the item. But for now I just want to stress, it can cut through 80mm of wood
without using the A-grip and 60mm of wood with the A-grip. The tougher the wood you cut, the more power comes out of the machine.
I have found it very helpful to read the product descriptions on other hardware websites, as they show additional images.

I weighed-up buying this as against a mini-chainsaw. I chose this because chainsaws look too scary and I know a lot of people have accidents with chainsaws.

Personally, I need to be able to deal with very thick branches (not tree trunks!) on my own and not have aching hand joints for days. Up to now I’ve used long-armed secateurs, which are impossible to use in restricted spaces and require a lot of arm strength for older wood.

Cant wait to get to work on my little patch!

***Updated 10/11/12: The item arrived the next day. I used it for the first time this week. Because I was able to clear away so much of my gardening backlog, I can honestly say this machine is brilliant!
I think my personal ‘holy trinity’ of cordless wonders is now complete e.g. Bosch secateurs, Bosch mini hedge trimmer, this Bosch saw.

If I can also quickly comment on what someone said about the item making your arm vibrate. Sorry, but that happened to me the first time I used it and I then realised I was using it incorrectly e.g. you need to apply pressure in a downward action as you work, to get the job done properly.

I was also amazed at how cleanly it cuts through wood.

    ***Updated 30/05/13
Oops, had to amend original measurements to reflect accurate position.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI was given Amazon vouchers, I used them to buy this item which has proved to be very useful. However it would be much improved if the battery was removeable and a second battery provided.

This great tool is the answer to my prayers !! It works beautifully and it makes life easier for my poor joints. It cuts through branches like a hot knife through butter . Changing the blades is child’s play. My only criticism is the fiddly connection to the charger.

Was inspired to order this after reading the report from James about the speedy international delivery.Had been unable to obtain one locally and found it arrived in Australia from the UK in about 4 days. Was even cheaper than buying locally.
Perfect for all those awkward pruning jobs. Especially good for shortening some of the taller bushes and trees. You just have to hold it to the branch, no overhead sawing required.Makes light work of those rose branches you wished you`d cut back a few years ago. Less damage from those horrible thorns
The recharge is a bit flimsy and I`m taking good care of it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have found this little gadget very useful as my apple tree will certify. I do suffer with a problem back, and it has made it possible for me to carry out certain jobs without having to ask my husband for help. I would recommend it, it is fairly light-weight and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this item recently, I must say I am absolutely delighted with it, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to cut down or cut back trees and overgrown bushes. The thicker branches can be cut down to size to use outdoors in a wood patio heater or indoors to create a lovely welcoming fire in winter time. My garden is looking so much better and tidier. It also recharges very quickly which means you can do other jobs in between, or just have a rest and a nice cuppa.

This is one heck of a bit of kit.
Arrival was delayed somewhat due to a nugget of a delivery driver who didn’t realy want to do his job, even though he was being paid to so.
When I did get me mitts on it, boy I wasn’t disappointed, before the wrapping hit the floor I had the first dead branch of the tree off, it was that good.
Light portable and Bosch, I have several other Bosch power tools and all of them provide excellent service this branch of Garden tools is quite new, but with bosh I didn’t feel there would be any problems. Like there new generation of jig saws it has this simple slot system for the blade which makes changing blades a snip.
It also can be fitted with metal cutting blades which makes this an all round performer.
