This product needs a simple clear large instructions on how to put together. The box once made is sturdy and has plenty of room.
It’s really simple to put together I spent ages overthinking it, reading reviews and the pdf instruction in information section which is so small I couldn’t see it. Instructions are really bad and could be made so much simpler
First of all It doesn’t matter which way the bars are fitted the big holes can be facing or the small holes can be facing There Is a round hole, line this up over the screw hole you don’t need to put a screw in it. The hole is too big. It’s just so that you know you’ve lined the bar up properly.
1)First put the bars on the front panel with two brackets on each end using the large screws. The bar should overhang exactly the same each end.
2)On the front side attach the padlock lock using a large screw. The plate doesn’t go flat against the panel there is a gap but as long as it is screwed as tight as you can that is okay. See picture.
3)Then fix bar the same on the back panel again with the large screws.
Most large screws are used for the box the small screws are for the base apart from one that is used for lid padlock lock.
4)Get one end of the box lay on the floor and stand on the front side into it they only fit one way if the bar is not fitting into the hole and it is not lining up with the slots then you’ve got the wrong end. Push down and it clicks into place quite easily
5)Do the same with the back side keeping the end on the floor and the two sides standing up. Now slide floor down make sure end slots are clicked in place.
6)Put the other end on the floor and turn the box on top line up and push down it clicks in easily.
7)Use all the small screws to secure the base this will keep the box together.
8)Now you just need the front lid lay on floor upside down and fit holding hinge. You have to slide it in very tight and push it as far as you can so that the two screw holes line up, tap Gently with a hammer to slide into position , fix in place with two small screws.
9)Then fit box lid at the front with the padlock lock with small screw.
10)Lift lid onto the box and with the plastic ends slide into the end of the lid. Make sure all the holes are lined up so it’s slides in. If they are not going in then you haven’t lined them up properly. They are left and right so only fit one side.
11) Now screw The other end of the holding hinge bracket with large screws onto the back box panel.
12)Now using a large screw, screw the other side of the hinge into the single screw hole on the box panel at the back. Again The hinge doesn’t go flush with the back panel as long as the screw is tight that’s fine.
13)Now just slide in the bar to hold up the lid and line up the hinge bar holes and slide the bolt in. It has a small release which needs pushing in when inserting. The end of my bar was slightly twisted but you can turn it straight to line up.
14) finally just clipping the two ends on the front of the lid.
It should take you about an hour to do. I am 67 female and did it all myself.
I have had 2 keter garden storage boxes for at least 10 years and they are a bit battered now, but were always waterproof and are now still used for garden tools. I purchased this slightly bigger box (weatherproof yet to be tested) as my new seat cushions were 2-3 inches too tall/wide for the old boxes and they fit this box perfectly.
If I get the same longevity from this box, then it is cheap at the price.
Seems robust enough for what I need it for (to store the recycling in) although one corner seems to be sticking up a bit, however will go down into position quite easily, have placed a small weight on the said corner to help keep it down, I’m sure when the sun eventually comes out it will settle into place. No issues with water ingress.
I use it to store things on my terrace. I can put 3 medium suitcases. Football and some other stuff. It is sturdy. I build it in 30 min. It is waterproof. I am happy. It works.
It’s great for storage , you can use it as a seat aswell easy to assemble but remember to follow instructions
Brillia
I was a little tentative at first over the purchase in view of several adverse comments on the difficulty of assembly. However, I found assembly to be straightforward and didn’t need any assistance. The finished article appears robust and waterproof, although I have only had it about a month. Good size to store outdoor furniture cushions with room to spare.
Brought for someone else but I put it together. Not a lot of instructions but only took 45 minutes. Works well
I’ve bought 3 of these over the last few years. Good size and sturdy. Great for extra seating in the garden when needed too.
Plenty of room for items, easy to assemble. We use a pad lock to keep locked. purchased when weather was good, but since bad weather found keeps everything dry no problems just be careful when opening so any drips of water do not fall into box. Exactly what we wanted pleased with our purchase
There were missing plastic ends to the lid, so could not complete constructing it; also there was some damage to the lid – heat damage and a crease, see my photo – and I suspect it may have been a returned item. After phoning and emailing Keter, who were very helpful and efficient, we received a new lid and replacement fittings, so were able to complete the box. I have deducted one star because the construction process is NOT easy, very fiddly.
Delighted with this productstrong..colour as picturespacioussurprised that it has sprung lid so no need to hold it up when putting something insideI use it for garden tools, compost, etc
Very easy to build with simple instructions, a really good size we are using it as a toy storage for the garden. Watertight even in some really. Heavy downpours and has a locking feature just need to pop on a padlock (not supplied)
Looks very good hope it is waterproof as i have all my garden furniture cushions in it, wont know how waterproof until we have some rain.
I cannot comment on if this product is waterproof as my husband and I store it in the garage however it looks very sturdy and we were impressed with how easy it is to assemble given the fact we are both over 70 yrs of age. It looks good and I am sure it would not look out of place outside in the garden. Would recommend. Thank you
The enclosed assembly instructions were clear and concise, explaining the correct order of assembly. Would thoroughly recommend this item which looks great in the garden. It is currently used to store plant pots, trays etc.
Build it, put it in the garden, fill it up… Done
As a good a box you will find, could be cheaper although that could be said of most garden storage as far as I can see
Good garden box good size. Bit fiddly erecting but got there in the end, bit like an IKEA DIY job.
I thought that the locking assembly could have been stronger otherwise happy with box.
Keeps all of my cushions tidy and dry when not in use. This was easy to assemble, just follow the instructions.
I’ll start with assembly. Not the best. This is not precision engineered, but I knew that from the price. It required a fair bit of banging and forcing as the plastic wasn’t always as cleanly cut as it could be. I kept finding little plastic nobbles that needed pulling off to make things go in.
That said, once it’s done, the internal measurements are as described, it’s pretty sturdy and the hydraulic on the lid is very respectable.
Overall no regrets.
I put this together on my own, it states 2 person assembly & highly recommend 2 doing it! The instructions were ok to follow. Could be a little more informative. But I’m happy with the end resul
Good solid product, well made and easy to put together. Holds a lot more than you’d imagine too
It is easy to use, putting the lawn mower in and taking it out, plus other tools. Just what we wanted, It`s ideal.
The good points:
1). It arrived undamaged and all the parts were there.
2) The paper instructions were quite good but led me astray at one stage ( when you fit the piston mechanism make sure it’s going to be on the inside of the assembly, not as shown on the diagram. (Obvious I know)
3) It went together in about an hour with just one person. Only dodgy stage was ‘clicking’ both front and back panels to one end. (Make sure the first side is supported against, say, a wall before inserting the second.)
4) When complete it stores a lot – and seems to be watertight.
5) It’s quite pleasing to the eye and has a nice touch.
The bad points –
1) Quality control is not very good. The parts have a lot of plastic rags still attached. Some are critical and will prevent construction if not removed.
2) It’s plastic so it distorts. My box, assembled as per instructions, opens and closes ok – but the lid wants to sit slightly out of position when closed so the thing needs some manipulation. But a padlock holds it. And because it relies on ‘clicking’ into place you can’t readjust it even if you know what’s wrong. (I don’t)
All in all I’m content. You get what you pay for.
Good instructions but unable to assemble due to bent support bar.More support needed for support bar not just at ends. end support aids bending damage. It needed two people one to keep one side from popping out and the other personto put other side in. Four screws each side would make it easier .Took 3 hours and two persons to assemble.
If screws were put in the side it only take half an hou
You need a cross head screwdriver and you’re ready to put this together. Very easy assembly. Sturdy box. Would recommend.
It was almost like buying from IKEA, RELATIVELY EASY TO ASSEMBLE, BUT A LITTLE FLIMSY TO SAY THE LEAST. It does the job – just.
Does a great job, perfect size and easy to assemble. Well made.
It is way to build and fully waterproof. Perfect for double cocoon cushions.
It’s a large and easy to use and put together. If you need a dry place to store things , it’s Grea
Great product! Sturdy and very roomy inside. I use it to store my recycling boxes in, it keeps the flies off the food containers and looks attractive on my patio. Would highly recommend.
It was very easy to assemble and very sturdy. Even in the downpours we have had lately not a drop of water inside. Very pleased and would certainly recommend.
This items appears substantial and is a decent size. It’s complicated to put together and the instructions are not always clear. Took both of us 1 hour to put together and work it all out. It’s a lot of plastic for the price! But it does the job.
Pretty straight forward and simple to assemble. Just adding last side bit tricky to click in but got there in the end. Looks a bit flimsy out of the box but soon as you get it built very sturdy. Very big size easily fits all my cushions for my cube furniture. Not tested for weatherproof yet but looks sealed etc. Would recommend
Easy to put together, has kept the rain out and looks good
Great storage box, perfect for cushions.
Great product! Higy recommended!
Easy to establish!
I am a massive fan of Keter products, they are very strong weatherproof and easy to assemble! This Glenwood storage box is perfect for storing my recycling bags which not only looked unsightly but were and often when the weather was bad, the contents would be blown over the garden. I recommend Keter to everyone!
Everything I’ve stored in it is stays dry. Just what I needed. It is very dark brown darker than the picture.
Instructions are just diagrams… no words. The instructions are OK if you read them several times before you start but some of the steps are made difficult because of the fairly flimsy plastic. Everything did slot together eventually but it took a few attempts especially as I was on my own. A second person would have helped a lot. It is study enough once built though. So, I am satisfied with the result and I feel it is reasonable value for money but a little more thought could have been put into making the build easier.
Was a bit wary of buying this after reading some of the reviews, but took the plunge. Item arrived on time, opened the box, got all the bits out and read the instructions, and the whole thing was put together and in place in under 20mins. Fitting the 2 bench ends, was easy, just line up the pieces and yes you might have to give them a little tap for them to lock into place, but the was the only effort required. Would i recommend this product to friends and family yes i would. I went for the larger of the Keter models, got all the items i wanted out of the shed and into the box – job done
Great ,good looking garden storage boxes . Good value for money
Very sturdy great for all car cleaning products sat nicely in the porch
An excellent product with prompt delivery. A little fiddly to assemble but achievable following the instructions.
Easy to assemble , very sturdy and is waterproof so far. very quick turnaround by company, well worth the cos
These are totally waterproof, easy to put together and sturdy enough for cushions etc. Don’t think I would put heavy stuff in them as floor not strong enough but perfect for corner unit cushion 6 seater size
Lid closure sh/abs broken at weld (poor quality issue)
Contact made via Keta product support on two occasions with no reply. Still waitng
Tried phoning but after 10 mins was still 17th in queue and gave up.
Very happy with product otherwise.
Extremely dissatisfied with product support.
Great outdoor storage space looks the part also.
Easy and simple instructions recommend for all gardens or garages
Good solid product, waterproof. Instructions a little light but you get there in the end.
Purchased 2 of these storage containers. 1 for outdoor furniture cushions etc. The other for outdoor kitchen items.
Both containers have kept all equipment dry and in good condition. Even my coal and seasoned wood is showing no signs of extra moisture etc.
Container is easy to assemble.
Not difficult to assemble but had to make sure before clipping together that all the holes were free of surplas plastic as a lot of the joining pieces had jagged pieces of plastic which had to be cleaned or filed off .
It would have prevented it ‘Clicking together’ and forcing the parts together could easily cause damage or difficulty pulling apart again to deal with it.
Having had trouble with a recently bought (Same)Keter box bought elsewhere we were aware it could be a problem again…which it was ..
Why do they include a piston hinge that doesnt compress to control closure of the lid????
We had six replacement piston hinges all with solid pistons that did not compress for our previous box and this one was exactly the same so had to leave it loose and just use it as a stay to keep the lid up.
This could be a problem if its for childrens toys as there is metal catches for a padlock and if the lid came down uncontrolled someones head .
Having said all this once assembled the boxes are great and very capacious.. reason we have two.
My husband found it a doodle to assemble but was annoyed at the extra time involved …but the bargain price
and end product made up for the negatives maybe if we had paid more we would not have had the sames problems.
These were to replace Keter boxes that we had had for years ..
Review 1: Where do I start, it came with a lid, front back and a floor. No hinge, no latch, no sides !! LOL. Possibly the worst ‘box’ ever but hoping the replacement will have a few more parts, and then do a full review. But first impressions are a minor disaster! This was purchased via Amazon Warehouse.
Review 2: The replacement had all the parts, and easy to put together single-handedly. Quite a sturdy and roomy box with secure fittings. The front and back sides are reinforced with two steel bars, which act as guides for the two end pieces. Hence quite a solid box considering it’s plastic. The lid is also supported by a single piston which adds a nice feature which will hopefully last. This successful purchase came via Amazon directly. Very pleased.
I haven’t made this bix up yet but um sure. Its what u want it for.
Simple to assemble. It literally took 5 minutes with no tools needed.
Good box once assembled but does need better design on piston assembly – had to add 2 screws and piece of wood to get it to fit/operate correctly. No leakages even during all this recent rain and wind BUT did put silicone round the base. Also looks good .
I use this for storing seed trays and pots and small garden items very pleased with i
Exactly what I was looking for.
Was larger than I was expecting (that’s on me, I’m not good with measurements which was given in description) Had it out the back a few month now & no water has got in, easy to wipe down & takes my weight when sitting on it. Brillia
This product does what it says.
Its waterproof, holds out great, space inside is perfect for what we put in it and there is no movement in the structure.
Also, is nice and light to move around.
Highly recommend.
Bought 2 of these as my daughter has one of the bigger Keter ones and she is very pleased with her box.
Now have put one together. Took me and hubby 45 minutes. There were 2 issues we came across. The first one was the metal bar that fits aross the top over a guide screw hole on right hand side on the inside of the front panel. The issue was that the bar, which apart from the screw hole in the right, had small oval holes on one side of the bar and large oval holes on the other. The guy at Keter confirmed that this can be totally disregarded, so any way round was OK as long as the pre existing guide screw hole was on the right – would have been good to know without pondering on it for 20 min and then being on the phone for another 20.
The second issue was the pre cut slot for the hinge. This slot was a little short so that the tongue of the hinge didn’t quite slot into itfar enough to accommodate the two screws in the pre existing screw holes so we had to file down the pre cut slot a little to get the tongue to fit in neatly.
Otherwise, just very carefully adhere to the instructions, line things up correctly and then be brave and give a whack here and there (not with a hammer but the back of your hand). It is certainly easier with two people. All should be well. No leaks!
All in all I am very pleased with this box now and would purchase again.
Well, one year and winter later, no leaks. However, the lid does not close tightly and as a consequence, I have had mice in the box that managed to squeeze through the small gap and chewed on some of my soft furnishings as well as making quite a mess. I might need to stick some draught excluder or similar inside the lid later in the year to stop the little blighters getting in.
Used the product to store kids garden toys. Kept outside but lockable and waterproof.
The only minor fault was that the lid does not fully shut down as neatly as I would like but this is a minor issue as it does not effect its use nor appearance.
This was all I hoped it would. Well made, durable and extremely useful
Good and strong. I had to get help fixing the catches on for the lock.
Seems waterproof been pouring down all night but water dose drop in of lid when you open it. So would surgest keeping thing in bags or boxes.
The lid doesn’t like to close so well and it’s all but pointless putting a padlock on this thing; the plastic construction is so easy to warp. And as for the picture showing ladies sitting on it – don’t! It will break. It does, however, look quite handsome and you can cram loads of stuff in there. All in all quite good but would be spot on for 70-80, not 100.
Excellent value for money. Great price and sufficiently sturdy but not too heavy when full. Put together without any problem whatsoever by a 71 year old. Not rained yet but have hosed it down a few times and it seems waterproof. More spacious than I thought. Holds our 6 garden cushions, 2 garden seat cushions, 2 long seat cushions, boules, croquet mallets and quoits with space to spare. Whats not to like?
hese are good, strong well made, need a bit of common sense and perseverance to fit it all together but it has to involve a bit of push and shove to be strong – in other words if they made it even easier to push together it woudnt be the great product it is…
Really sturdy and easy to assemble. Make sure you have read instructions fully and it goes together just fine. Really pleased.
I have read some of the reviews and cannot understand why there are reports of difficulty of assembly.
Instructions were clear – I carefully looked through them before I started. Each part was clearly identified on the instructions and on the part itself (in big letters). It went together as per instructions. I admit getting the panels to CLICK together needed extra effort. The finished assembled product looks great, feels strong and held my wife and I sitting on it.
The lid fits perfectly – I do not see any future problems (fingers crossed) PJ
I had this garden box since Nov 2017, and bought it for ~60 back then. I have to say, I’m very impressed by Keter’s products. Here’s a list of pros and cons to help you:
Pros
– sturdy
– durable exterior (can withstand terrible weather, storms and the likes)
– opening mechanism working perfectly two and half years later
– color isn’t affected at all by the elements
Cons
– the base is very light and can’t hold much (don’t recall specifics but other reviews suggests 50KG)
As you can see, it’s as good as new but as I mentioned in the Cons, the base won’t hold much (e.g. garden tools + few 60l+ bags of compost for instance) but what I did is I laying some leftover tiles under it to support the base and it worked perfectly; note this might void warranty but I guess that has already passed anyway 🙂
Overall, I’m extremely pleased by this product and would definitely consider Keter’s product range in the future.
It’s very hard to be fixed – specially the click .Until I do it some of the plastic click I broke. If I must to buy again I will not do it.
Arrived this morning. Good quality outdoor box for garden chairs and sofa cushions. Clear concise assembly instructions, very easy for one person to put together with no parts missing or broken. After reading some of the reviews I was slightly concerned about ordering this box, worries over, excellent quality product.
Having owned several Keter products the assembley of the storage box was familiar taking 30 minutes. The box can act as a seat which is great for watching the kids play in the garden, that is when they are not using the storage box to get out their toys. The only slight downside was lining up the rear panels metal support bar with it’s receiving hole on one of the side panels; this split some of the plastic so the side doesn’t quite sit flush at the top. Aside from that it seems to be a robust product for basic storage.
Listen, for 70 it’s about the same as others on the market at that price; once it’s all together it seems fine. HOWEVER, it was a bit of a nightmare to put together, the whole ‘click’ in place bit is more force in place with a mallet, and I can only echo everyone’s comment on the last bit, frankly putting the hinge on is a bit of a bodge job as it’s not the correct part, and screwing the last two screws in is almost impossible at that angle.
If you’re prepared for a bit of a hassle to put together then it’s worth it. I’m sure you can get similar ones for the same price which are easier to put together.
We have been very pleased with this storage box. It has withstood its first winter outside; no issue. It looks good and it is very sturdy. I have had another storage box previous, which was very flimsy. This is good.
Excellent storage, strong and stable
Thank you so much and I highly recommended
As advertised… which is good. Follow assembly instruction words AND illustrations carefully and there should be no problems.
There should be Two hydraulic Cover levers for more sturdiness of the Ketter box.
Once you realise the letters stamped on the panels correspond to the letters on the instructions it’s easy enough to put together. I was able to put it together by myself although it might have been easier with 2 people. The lid doesn’t quite fully stay closed but that doesn’t seem to make a difference anyway to water tightness. It’s certainly worth taking your time and a little patience to do a decent job. Have had it for a few days now and it’s rained quite a bit and there has been no ingress at all. Water collects on the lid a bit but it’s been designed well enough to let the water run off the back without getting inside the box when you lift it up.
Will be interesting to see how long the gas strut lasts as it clatters around a bit when you open the lid and it’s only screwed in to the plastic surround rather than the metal supports but time will tell.
Over all I am very happy with the box and it’s keeping all our outdoor footwear nice and dry.
Well made article, robust. The assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired.
Just the job keeps all my gardening tools nice and dry and at hand no more rummaging in my garden shed trying to find tools
A good sturdy storage unit, I now have 2 of them suprising how much can be storedin them
A little tricky to assemble and requires some strength. It’s raining at the moment so tomorrow will tell if it’s totally watertight – hope it is as our garden furniture cushions fit well inside so hope they are dry. Looks good in the garden.
I bought this to replace another box which kept on loosing its lid, living by the sea the winds are very strong. My handyman couldn’t put it up so I did as I didn’t want to wait until he could. I have never done anything like this and am pretty impressed with myself as it’s up, we’ve had storms and nothing has nudged, plenty of rain too and it’s totally waterproof. Defo recommend!
Excellent weatherproof box.would by again. Needs at least 2 people to assemble, my wife helped but we came close to divorcing.
Bought this on Prime day sale for the kids to use and store their outdoor toys in, didn’t take too long to put together, but instructions were missing, but works perfectly and is easy for them to open and close. Happy with this purchase
It is much easier to assemble with a guy than last time getting it done on my own. It needs some strength. Good storage on the balcony with the right size
Using for garden storage. Good, sturdy box. Can be made secure by adding padlock.
Perfect size but does need a padlock to keep it closed in the wind.
Was unsure after reading some of the reviews but I found it easy to put together and weatherproof especially considering the rain we have had lately
Arrived very quickly. Easy to assemble, taking about 25 minutes to put together. Quality looks okay and will certainly serve the purpose I want it for, which is to store my black bin bags to keep the animals away. Given this is just a plastic moulding and a few screws, the price could be cheaper!
Does what it says on the box !
Schematics for assembly are pretty good, although a rubber-faced mallet is a useful tool for getting the joints to lock in place.
Very quick to assemble, strong and durable. Yes, ok, it’s not the smartest of items, but it does the job and for not much money. My only quibble was the delivery, which took ages. The first delivery came and went again without ringing the bell (we were all in), and the only notification we got was an email saying we had a refund due to the item not being able to be delivered. After reordering, it turned up eventually but in a very damaged box. Product itself is fine though.
Could’ve done with a couple of spare screws, but quite easy to put together for a single and disabled man. Other than that it does what it is supposed to.
Glad i paid the extra as its good quality and strong enough to stand o
It is a grest job in the garden def need a padlock for it tho the wind seems to blow it open even if n it isn’t strong winds. But overall I’m pleased with i
Used to store garden cushions etc. Great size and quite sturdy. Looks good too !
Had this for a year now and no issues at all. Takes full set of furniture cushions with no leaks (N facing balcony on Moray Firth coast.) Does not move in strong winds either. Safe to sit on if need be. Some slight UV fade. Strong hinges. Considering buying a second to replace flimsy Sherwood box.
Had been looking at Garden Storage at a well known DIY store, when this came up as a limited time sale. Having already got the larger Keter Storage with doors, I jumped at it, much larger than the basic one and sturdier as well. You can sit on the top, and as it is slightly curved, water runs off and dries quickly. It also has the lift assist, and when opened it stays up.
Closes easily, all you need extra is a padlock. You do need a fairly large space to assemble with a few basic tools though.
Great outdoor box. Simple enough to put together if you take your time and read the instructions
Excellent price and good product. I found instructions clear but because of size an additional pair of hands helps.
Easy to put together only need a Philips driver
Loads of storage fits lawn mower strimmer spade ect ext ect
Lid fits well and locks tight will last for years
I’ve got other Keter products and are as good now as when bought them several years ago
I managed to fit in three directors chairs and cushions with stayed dry and mold free all winte
Very very easy to assemble and took st most 20 minutes on my own with clear instructions. Bought when on sale too st half price 40
