KNIPEX Precision Insulation Stripper with adapted blades (195 mm) 12 12 02
Precision-wire strippers for special insulation materials
Two pairs of blades: division of labour for the desired result.
The Knipex 12 12 02 wire strippers have been specially developed for very tough and hard insulation materials which need to almost be cut through entirely so that they can be pulled off. Two pairs of blades cut into the entire circumference of the cable insulation. The blades have been shaped and ground so that the cut gets very close to the conductor. After scoring, one of the pairs of blades remains still and secures the insulation that has been cut into. The other pair of blades strips the insulation from the cable.
With adjustable length stop for consistent wire stripping lengths in series production work.
Length stop for reproducible stripping results
‘The insulation involved here must withstand a great deal, such as being heat-resistant and tough. Cutting insulation like this from the single conductors during stripping is equally challenging. With conventional wire stripping tools it is difficult and often quite impossible to achieve a clean wire stripping result. With these special wire strippers, by contrast, even hard to remove insulation is removed accurately and reliably, and in a single work step. The model 12 12 02 shown here has an additional insertion aid for precisely positioning the cable on the wire stripping points of the blade. Other Knipex precision wire strippers from this series can be found in the table below.’
Insert cable, press pliers closed – cable is stripped
The work saved by these wire strippers is immense. After inserting the cable, the entire wire stripping process takes place as if by itself with one press of the hand. Even insulation materials that are difficult to process are reliably removed with precise and, thanks to the length stop, accurate repeat measurements: an advantage for fitters, e.g. in the areas of energy technology, plant and automotive engineering.

Knipex precision wire strippers with adapted blades
They offer good everyday benefits, even with non-everyday insulation materials that are difficult to strip. Precision wire strippers from Knipex protect the conductor in the cable during stripping and, due to their ergonomics and range of functions, make work easier for the user.
The great benefits of the tools and their safe, comfortable use are the results of decades of experience making pliers, continuous development and Knipex’s commitment to high quality standards.
Pliers from Knipex are built for many years of use in a professional environment.

I am using 24awg with a very thin PTFE cover. The PTFE tends to be very elastic and difficult to separate in one clean cut. I have tried wire stripper pliers, which work to a degree, I think a good quality pair would be reasonable but I need to be precise on the stripped length. I tried various automatic strippers but they tend to leave a ragged finish and damage the PTFE cover with the holding clamp. I have been impressed with this Knipex because it does not clamp the wire but simply cuts and separates both ways at the same time. Care is needed in placing the wire squarely but the overall result can be consistent clean stripped ends. It is a bit weighty and pricey but the only tool I have seen so far to do the job properly.
