A beautiful toaster that’s a pleasure to use. It enables you to produce perfect toast every time whether it is fresh, moist crusty bread, stale rolls or bagels you can watch what is happening and pop them when they’re done. Very expensive for what it is though, but it has a quality feel to it so you soon forget about how much you paid. There are cheaper versions on the market but they may not be as good.
This is my second magimix toaster having given my son the first. They are the best toasters you can buy they toast every bit of the bread evenly and been able to the see through the sides you can easily keep a check on the bread I would recommend this toaster even at the high price worth every penny.
A toaster that actually toasts, who would have thought. So I have had numerous toasters over the past years, none of which have actually worked as well as putting a slice of bread under a gas grill. That was until I got this toaster. It needed two of us to get it out of the box as it is quite heavy. This is not a bad thing, just unexpected as most toasters are very flimsy and light in weight. It toasts bread perfectly and even toasts the edges. I cut a doorstop slice of bread and it toasted it perfectly. It is a joy to behold and I love seeing it in my kitchen.
Finally, I have toast, just the way I want it, whenever I want it and no more guessing if it is ready yet.
I love my glass toaster. It’s never made a bad piece of toast since I bought it. Expensive but worth it.
Good looking toaster! Had a previous toaster that was see through but wasn’t as robust so worth the money!
Love this toaster, great to be able to see the toast go to the perfect colour.
perfect in every way from toasting large slices of bread, toasting sandwiches in toastie bags, defrosting bread to toast and very easy to clean with the slide out drawer. T
I really like my Vision toaster. It takes artisan and home made bread without any tailoring and I like to see how brown it is. I bought mine a few years ago and it is now out of warranty. Recently it stopped staying down. I was able to arrange for it to be repaired very quickly with DPD pickup and redelivery for 25 plus the cost of the required spare part – 3.25. I’m pretty impressed by this.
I wanted a toaster which I could monitor as it’s so difficult to regulate toasters and ensure that they cook a consistently every time. There are other glass door toasters but I know this brand and I liked that it had the unique quartz heating elements which meant that you get a perfectly clear view to the toast without seeing heating wires. I also liked the fact that the glass units are double glazed to help retain the heat within the toaster and also ensure that the outer pane of glass doesn’t get to hot to touch when in use.
The buttons and knobs feel sturdy, the overall build quality feels sturdy and the glass release button is well thought to allow you to clean the glass which doesn’t get dirty but is good to have just in case.
It is incredibly expensive for a toaster and the family don’t agree with the price but I do for something as unique as this is which is used on a daily basis and provides the convenience of a quick glance to check the toast level and is built to a high standard as this is.
If it lasts 20 years like my old Dualit I’d be very happy but I’d have to be a bit more realistic and hope it lasts more than 3 years which is when my Sage toaster died.
Wonderful product with super golden even toasting. An acceptable Price but would never buy at full retail.
I bought this toaster as a practical present for our 10 year old, and while I wait for my World’s Best Parent award to arrive in the post I thought I’d give it a try.
Being able to see the toast browning in the toaster without peering into the top tales all the guesswork out of getting perfect toast and the browning seems to be very even. The single slot form factor takes country loaves in a single slice as well as square loaves.
Aesthetically it looks fantastic too, replacing a Dualit toaster it doesn’t look any more out of place in our kitchen and the see-through sides makes the toaster look less bulky, if you have under cupboard lights this illuminates through the glass and provides more light on the worktop.
There’s no hiding this is a very expensive toaster, but if perfect toast every time is important to you then it’s worth the outlay, or makes a perfect indulgent gift for a 10 year old.
Had this toaster for a 6 years now and I can’t really fault it. Originally bought for its looks it has since proven to be a great toaster, used daily and easy to keep clean.
Searched for a while to find one with quartz/glass elements (had one years ago), took a while to commit to spending quite a lot on a toaster, but glad I did in the end: This toaster is fantastic 🙂
I like toast, so I’ve ended up using a lot of toasters from very cheap (8) to very expensive (150 Dualit!). And it has been pot luck as to whether it will be good or bad, and how long it stays good, or even if it will only effectively toast one side. The common theme? They all had a wire wrap element.
Most toasters (not this one!) use a wire wrap element, so they all have the same basic technology. The problem I’ve found is that this heats up unevenly if the wrapping is a bit off (touching the backing material), doesn’t conduct well, or simply gets used (heats and warps, gets a crumb behind the wire). Have a look inside and you can check how consistently the length of the wire glows.
They all had the same basic technology for the most important function (heating!), so the big price differences aren’t actually getting you anything different. And they all end up with variation in evenness of heating across units (how well the element is wrapped, conductivity) and over time (heats and warps, crumbs).
If you look at the reviews for lots of toasters (I like toast!), you’ll see this variation within each toaster with some people finding their unit toasts like Vulcan has intervened and others saying its more like Vulcan was a bit shy.
With this toaster and these elements, you get something actually different that heats really well, is super consistent and stays consistent. On top of that, the actual rising and cleaning mechanisms are great so it feels (and even sounds) good to use.
So you can spend 150 to get 8 technology and hope to goodness that your money is going on good quality control and materials rather than style and branding.
Or you can get this fabulous toaster which consistently gets you toast that Vulcan (and me!) loves 🙂
Will never go back to using a toaster where I can’t see the toast toast ! Love this toaster.
It’s a great toaster, it makes nice toast, it’s handy to be able to see the progress of your toast.
But it doesn’t feel like the Rolls Royce of toasters, at this price I sort of expected more.
This is our second Magimix toaster, the first gave up after two years. I’m happy with it, I wouldn’t swap it for a different toaster but the price is extreme.
I wondered if this would toast bread properly or just dry it out due to taking too long to brown it. How wrong I was.
My old toaster took as long as my kettle took to boil water, this one does it in half the time. Excellent stuff!
Great quality toaster. Sturdy yet attractive. Toasts bread pretty good too. Love the baguette option, great for burger buns.
Really nice bit of kit. It looks space-age but works great too. Good quality. Fun to watch too 🙂
We love this toaster – have two of them and it is so good to be able to see the toast – means you get a perfect piece of toast every time no matter what kind of bread you use.
Overall good quality. Double or single side toasting function very useful. Large slot that fits big slices of bread. No problems so far.
Excellent even toasting when using the timer function. The ability to see the item toasting allows you achieve the perfect finish. Halogen heating bars rather than thermal wire should last longer and produce more consistent results. Very impressed!!!
lovely fit for purpose – practical nice toaster!!!! but can burn toast at pretty low numbers too. so i keep number at 1.5
This has to be one of the best toasters around and now the price has come down it is a more affordable option. I have had one before but after 3 years the pop up failed! So I hope this one fairs better – for the price it really should last a minimum of 5 years. The glass allows you to see the brownness of your toast so get a result exactly to your liking each time. The slot can take large slices and also Baggett’s. It does single side toasting for bagels etc. It will toast from frozen. There is of course a timer.
Great toaster – and having the window means no more burnt toast!
3-years on and still love it! Looks great, toasts great… with the ability to see just how brown your toast is. This is a complete design as it does what a toaster should very well; the innovation of seeing the toast enhances the core function of a toaster; and it looks great too through great design. It’s also pretty easy to clean throughout including the glass window when required.
Longing for this from the first time I saw it advertised on TV. Looks stylish in kitchen. Brought for a very good price. Well worth the wait.
This is a great toaster, well made and worth the extra cost no more excuse for burning the toast.
So far great, very useful being able to see the actual bread whilst toasting.
Well, bought it here @ UK from Germany.
Unfortunately it came almost DoA since I unpacked it did as written in the manual for the first time usage. Put to max Power and pushed down the tray.
The LED was there for one second than the tray came up.
It was not possible any more to restart the browning process.
The return was easy but expensive for international DHL about 15.00.
The replacement device was delivered today (Wednesday) after 4 days after recalamation on Saturday.
Cross the fingers for the future of the new device.
Update:
2nd toaster is working fine so far.
I checked the surface temperature while first two burn-ins. Browning control set to 8.
Glas walls 80C
Aluminium sides 72C
Top 130C
Inside 260C
So, do not leave it working alone.
Very stylish, and that’s significantly what you are paying for, so my rating is slightly weighted for style rather than functionality or longevity.
The toaster is well built, but is quite complex internally – complexity can lead to a shorter life than simpler products as there are more parts to fail.
The glass sides hinge open for cleaning, and there’s a safety microswitch for each one to force a pop-up when opened (although they don’t cut the power and can be defeated if you hold the toasting try down). I had one of these microswitches fail after about 18 months due to manufacturing fault. This is unlikely to be a common problem so I haven’t marked it down on this fault alone, but is an example of additional complexity increasing chances of a problem – that part doesn’t exist in most toasters. Fortunately I was able to repair the microswitch.
I found the toasting quality OK, but as others said, it probably won’t work for very fresh (i.e. recently home baked) bread because there isn’t going to be enough radiant power hitting the middle of the slice which is much more moist in very fresh bread.
what a beautiful, stylish toaster 🙂 I love having it in my kitchen, it makes good toast – what more can you ask ?
love this toaster, exactly as described, it’s even better in real life, easy to use, would recommend, quick delivery
very trendy and quick, but not the most even toas
This is a costly piece of kit but it lives up to its price. Looks fantastic, works like a dream and feels good and solid.
Wanted one of these since I first saw it. It’s very well made and heavy with a good choice of colours available. Kept checking the price as it seems to go up and down from 108 to 132! I’m pleased with it as the toast is crispy, not soggy. However like my other toasters it still cooks it a bit too much at the top which I still cut off as I hate overdone/ burnt toast so that’s why not 5*’s.
I have owned this toaster for quite a while now. It does an excellent job of toasting all sorts of bread including from frozen. Once you have found your preferred browning setting the frozen button will simply deliver your normal toast. The wide and long slot allows all sorts of things to be heated. The windows not only allows you to keep an eye on unfamiliar items to ensure you have the best setting, it reminds you to clean the crumb tray. The whole toaster is easy to clean and when a pecan fell onto one of the elements I could lift it out easily. Pyrolysis automatically removed all the sticky residue as it was supposed to. A real quality product, well engineered throughout.
Looks the business in my kitchen.
Excellent for odd sized bread. Easy to raise short of height morsels.
Makes perfect toast – however last toaster had a motorised lid – turns out that that toaster makes toast that is less dry than from a usual unlidded toaster and I had got used to it and prefer that sort of toast, but it couldn’t handle larger slices and there was no way to raise out short height toast – so the Vision just about wins for me.
One star off for the strange reason that I don’t like usual toast so much as I used to.
I bought this as a house warming gift. IT LOOKS FABULOUS on the counter. And of course make great toast.
Doesn’t toast perfectly evenly but at least you can see when it’s ready. I wish it was able to do more than two slices.
THIS IS A GORGEOUS LOOKING TOASTER, AND IT FEELS QUALITY – NOT LIKE THE USUAL RATTLING ONES. JUST A GENTLY PUSH TO LOAD THE BREAD AND THEN WATCH IT TOAST. MY ONLY SLIGHT GRUMBLE IS THAT IT SEEMS TO BROWN THE BREAD MORE AT THE TOP THAN AT THE BOTTOM. NOTHING SERIOUS BUT UNEXPECTED AT THE PRICE.
I have wanted a Magimix toaster for a few years now, ever since using a friends and liking hers. Having some spare cash, and reading some excellent revues, I decided to go for it, and I absolutely love it. No more burnt or underdone toast. you can see exactly how brown your toast level is so you can please everyone. I know it seems expensive but I think it is worth it to not have to scrape your burnt toast in a morning!!!.
Ausreichend Platz sollte also vorhanden sein.
I saw one of these in my sister’s kitchen and instantly was struck with toaster envy. When my toaster broke, I had to replace it with this. Little did I know that it was five times as expensive as any other toaster. However, I love it.
Basically if you’re looking at this it’s probably because of the see through feature, which works exactly as you’d think. It means I could make sure my toast did not burn whilst cooking my scrambled eggs. Multi tasking made easy!
Two notes. It is rather large so measure up first. The other reviewer that said it can burn the top of the toast is correct, but it’s pretty minor to me for the pleasure of such a unique device.
Arrived on time it exceeded my expectations I went for the used item only to find it had a dent in the box ,great value looks great in my kitche
We wanted a good looking, solid build toaster and cannot be happier with our purchase. After 6 months of use, its looking like new and works as promised. This is a solid product. Its easy to clean, but till now we never had to clean the glass yet; the design is very smart and well executed. Toast results are very good to, and the timer is accurate. I can recommend this product and the selle
My husband has been coveting this toaster ever since a mate of his bought one! It’s obviously now fashionable amongst males of a certain age to take an interest in toasters……..and watching your toast cook is now the thing to do. Some might think this sad, others will appreciate the novelty talking point when you have visitors staying the night. Others may just be delighted that they can finally get their husbands to make the toast……..for me it’s just a great toaster with neat features like a reheat setting for your toast if you inadvertently let it go cold and a baguette setting which allows you to cook one side of the baguette only. Very efficient toaster and great fun as well!
I’ve been eying up this toaster since launch. My Tefal single slot dual element mirrored toaster finally packed up after nearly 20yrs of reliable & quick toasting. It was a toss-up between this Magimix or a Bosch dual quartz element model at under half the price. The Bosch didn’t do single-sided toasting where the Vision does.
This is a very larger toaster for a single slot, it’s also deep & suitably heavy due to its bomb-proof construction. Basic toasting involves inserting the bread, turning the dial to the required time (marked between 1 & 8 in half clicks) then pushing down the lever on the right hand side. The “Standard setting” button edge lights up light blue until the toast pops up with a decisive & loud clack.
The other buttons are “Bagal” for single-sided toasting which I use for crumpets. You can toast both sides as normal then press this button at any point that will switch off the two rear elements. The final buttons are for a 30″ reheat & “Defrost” neither of which I use.
Although a good toaster, it’s not very fast compared to my Tefal. This does effect how toast tastes – the longer it takes, the drier (or crispier) the toast.
There’s a full-length crumb tray that clicks into place & due to the double-glazed windows, you can see the accumulation. The lever can be raised to extract smaller items. The slot is pretty wide so you can toast a variety of buns. The two windows hinge out for cleaning. Overall, a novel & well-made toaster. How long it lasts after it’s 3yr guarantee (collect) remains to be seen.
10 months on..
Still works fine. A couple of observations:
1. Raising the bar to remove toast does not help much – I use a pair of wooden tongs!
2. The bread is poorly supported. When you push the lever down to start toasting, the top of the rack closes onto the slice but the bottom doesn’t, meaning the bread can curl so toast unevenly.
Although flawed & the novelty of seeing the bread toasting wears off a little, this remains a fine & well-made toaster.
This Magimix toaster is of excellent quality, Amazon.co.uk provided a smooth and quick delivery to Australia, and excellent after sale service, highly recommended. (four star)
However, WARNING Magimix UK does not provide any Guarantee if product taken outside the UK, and neither does Magimix AU accepts coverage for product purchased outside the AU, this has grossly disappointed me, infect feel deceived as no warning is display, notwithstanding, that most descriptions of the product highlights a “3 years Guarantee” as a major feature.
Regrettably only two stars for Magimix.com
absolutely love it. Very good value for money. Brightens up the kitchen and the toast is reliable time after time.
Really happy with this product, extremely well built, looks fantastic and most importantly produces excellent toast, arrived the next day after ordering.
Wow – not cheap for a toaster but what a beautiful piece of art. Mesmerising on a morning as one watches the colour develop. Great for frozen bread and crumpets and muffins. Even toasts just one side of a baguette. How French is that!! Go on, splash out.
Looks great in the kitchen, however I’m not sure it’s worth ~140.
Basically, if you are a bit middle-class and don’t eat a lot of toast – this is for you.
This is a very well made, solid and aesthetically pleasing toaster. It is built to very high standards and to my knowledge it is the only one on the market with quartz elements. These really make a difference as the toasting is more even and the inside of the bread slices is more tender. The toaster is fairly fast and it is nice to be able to see the colour of the bread. But most importantly, it works particularly well with home made bread (at least in my case. I know that another reviewer had a different experience). The main problem is that home made bread has a higher humidity content, so often either the bread doesn’t toast or it takes ages and the edges get burned. On setting 6-7, I get perfectly toasted bread every time, which so far hasn’t happened with my previous toasters. Admittedly, they were not as expensive as this one. But I feel that it is worth the money as it is something that is used every day, several times a day.
I just love this toaster good solid quality smooth operation and produces all over browned toast (adjustable if needed)
Would certainly recommend.
I have always loved toast made on my sister’s Aga as it seems to really crisp the outside of the bread whilst leaving the inside a nice fluffy texture. Without really wishing to shell out 5,000 or more on an Aga to replace my 9.99 old toaster, I explored what toaster I could put in my newly re-fitted kitchen as the old one looked tired and…. cheap.
I had thought of investing in a Dualit as I loved the rugged construction and “polished industrial” heavy duty look, but on examining their range more closely it looked a bit too commercial and industrial which would have been fine if mine was a commercial catering kitchen, which it isn’t.
In a review online my eye had been caught by this new Magimix toaster which had been developed after “fifteen years of research”. I looked it over in John Lewis and was amazed to find it had all the build qualities and more of the Dualit range – cast alloy ends, heavy duty double glazed windows both sides which rotated outward for cleaning and an easy slide out crumb tray.
Other neat features apart from the see through toaster bit was the one-sided toasting for baguette halves.
Once I bought it though, the knock out effect of the four electric bars (bit like gran’s old electric fires) is that – you guessed it- it produces toast just like on my sister’s Aga – really crisp and crunchy whilst keeping a soft inside.
I have had one now for 3 months and still love it. Easy to clean, very smart and you can pop the toast out at any stage when you can see how brown it is
Love it – get one … you won’t regret it!
Excellent product – I ummed and arred before buying this – I checked out prices and Amazon with supersaver free delivery was the cheapest. I dont regret this purchase. We have toast everyday and its worth every penny. Toast is hotter, softer in the middle and just as toast should be. Would recommend this to everyone.
Love it! Taken price of place on my side!! Defrost function is Brilliant. The only bad thing i can think of really is when you try and cook the end of loaf (crust) it can sometimes burn the really thin top edge, though if you simply put it in sideways rather than upright then its fine!!
Personally i think it is and looks Brilliant!
This is the toaster I have been waiting for. It does EXACTLY what it says on the box. It is quite expensive BUT if you want toast that is properly browned all over in one go this is the toaster for you. It toasts one slice only or two slices at once as well as heating those horrible croisants if you so desire.
Purchased as the glass sides are great! if like me you have too much time on your hands and like to watch the toast change colour, this represents an absolute steal. Perfectly matches my glass kettle and provides a far more interesting user experience.
After sales is also superior for a toaster, three years! WOW
Great product, even colour toast and the glass sides mean no more burnt offerings but very expensive for just a piece of toas
I was deliberating for ages about buying this toaster and finally went for it. Although I thought the glass was a bit of a stupid sales ploy & the heating elements reminded me of my gran’s old electric fire, it really does deliver & create the perfect toast… Can’t fault it at all, a lovely toaster. It really is worth every penny…
This toaster works a treat and appears to be very well made. Contrary to the experience of others I do not find it takes too long to toast and I also do not find it difficult to keep clean and shiny. To date my only slight disappointment (if I have to list one) is that unsliced sandwich loaves can often be too tall to toast the whole slice vertically – They usually squeeze in on their side though. One really shouldn’t have to do this in a toaster that claims to be professional and costs quite so much. However, I’d still recommend it.
