Great small but good sound ,easy to use and quick to connect to internet hard to find which station to listen to all grea
Ideal for small spaces . Brilliant little piece of kit with quality features.
Easy to set up, has every function in one compact device.
Absolutely love this! I wanted one for the kitchen, and this is small and fits neatly on the counter. The sound is really good. And it’s great to be able to play CDs. It was very easy to set up, just following the prompts, no written instructions needed, even for oldies like us. Highly recommend!
Whenever you see a garment bearing the legend ‘One size fits all’, you can generally interpret it as ‘One size fits no-one’. The Majority Homerton 2 is, however, the audio device that proves the rule. Virtually all possible audio options are packed into this compact and attractive piece of equipment and they are carried out in an exemplary manner.
On opening the box, I was pleased to find that the Homerton 2 is a solid and good-looking device that will not appear out of place in any setting. When not in use for one of its many functions, it displays an analogue clock-face that can be dimmed. I find this most helpful at night as mine is used in the bedroom.
It is controlled by knobs and push-buttons on the front face or by a responsive remote-control and I had no problems setting it up, being able to connect it to my Wi-Fi network without even having to look up my password. No instruction-manual is included, and while the function of each button can be found online, I would have preferred a printed version.
The radio receives broadcasts in one of three ways. It has an extendible aerial for receiving FM and DAB+ stations but unfortunately, where I live the signals are very weak and it struggles to pick up more than a handful of FM stations under these adverse conditions. It does better with DAB+, the auto-tuner detecting 32 stations (though sadly, not Classic FM).
None of this concerns me too much, however, as I shall mainly use the internet radio which will allow me to listen to thousands of radio stations from around the world and all in the highest quality sound. I have already stored 20 of the possible 40 for easy access and can now tune in to my favourite easy-listening station, Serenade, which can only be found online. Podcasts can be similarly accessed, and this will open a new world to me as I have not used this service before.
I find the sleep function, which can be set to turn the radio (or another player) off after various time intervals, particularly useful as I can ensure that the set will not play all night after I have drifted off into the land of nod.
I have only a free Spotify account but have no difficulty in playing my latest playlist without even having to open Spotify on my tablet. the device by which I normally access it. I also find being able to listen to music stored on a memory stick via the USB port on the rear of the appliance very useful.
As I have a large CD collection, a big plus for me is the built-in CD player. When this is selected, the disc simply slides into the player and starts playing. The tracks may be programmed to play in a specific order or randomised if desired, though I shall not use this function much as I often listen to symphonies, etc. where the order of play is that on the disc.
The Homerton 2 delivers excellent sound for both music and speech and this can be tweaked to taste using the built-in sound-equaliser. Of course, this is not top-end Hi-Fi (which would cost many times the price), but it is very high quality. I therefore have no hesitation in highly recommending this versatile piece of equipment.
I was in the market for a portable music system that would be future proof in terms of connectivity and enable me to listen to FM and digital radio, have bluetooth connectivity and a CD player.
After unpacking, I really appreciated that the manual is online and is not printed as part of the package as that’s usually the first thing I throw away.
First thing I noticed was that this device is fairly compact however this is just a disguise. It actually packs a lot of punch. I have ordered a version with a bright wooden finish and I’m using it in the kitchen and living room where it fits well.
Quality of sound is outstanding and on par with other major brands. Sound is balanced and crystal clear considering the size of this compact system. I get good reception for DAB and FM across my house without any need of moving.
Navigation through the menu takes a short time to get used to, however it’s intuitive enough and usually I guessed right on first attempt the right button to push. Must say I’m not having trouble anymore as I have checked all modes – FM, DAB, bluetooth, podcasts, CD and all worked as expected.
Internet connectivity – what makes this system special is that it allows you to connect to wifi (to support internet radio) but also to get new firmware updates. I’m looking forward to getting some improvements over time on the software side.
As I’m quite conscious of power consumption I have noticed this device uses in comparison low amounts of electricity – only about 3-5 W in FM Radio mode.
I’ve been using this system for a couple of weeks now and I was able to use all the functionality without any troubles.
At the end of the day I got what I expected, a well rounded, compact music system that can fill the room with tunes, with crystal sound and good level of future proofing.
Review of the Majority Homerton 2 Smart Internet, Dab+, FM Radio and CD Player
Unit Ordered 17/06/2022, received 19/06/2022, tested / reviewed 20/06/2022
In Summary I was delighted with the Majority Homerton 2 Smart Internet, Dab+, FM Radio and CD Player
I wanted the Majority Homerton 2 to access my Favourite Radio Stations in many formats, that give additional information about the station and the track that was playing. To play my CD’s and to listen to my favourite podcasts.
I was concerned about a circular “hole” in the front fascia of the unit (See Photo 1), until i checked the drawing and it seems to be a sensor, however i would have expected a transparent window to the sensor as this would have been more protective of the unit. The unit did arrive with unsatisfactory “blemish” in the veneer of the top of the Player (see Photo 2).
Setting up was easy with the aid of the downloaded manual, the main problem was that on subsequent “turn on and turn off” it was very difficult to find on the main unit. It transpired it was another function of the “volume” rotary dial, once i discovered this it was very easy.
Aerial seems to be primarily for DAB+ Distance worked at least 15 metres indoors and 20 metres outdoors No Drop-outs after aerial was extended to fullest.
Loading and Unloading a CD was difficult, displaying “Open” but reverting back to “Loading” many times, also inserting a CD was very critical. CD Text did not appear to be displayed (See Photo 3). I could only access pre-recorded CD’s and NOT mp3’s i had compiled onto a CD. Display of tracks only included the track number, no record title etc or Sleeve Photo. This would deter me from using CD’s in this player. Fast Forwarding was more of a “Skip to Time” facility that you seemed to need the remote contol for.
I was a little confused with the product being advertised as having Spotify when it was relying on the paired device to play through the pc’s account. However when set up like that it was very good and returned to where it had left off when not using Spotify. Podcast display was very good at selecting which podcast to play
DAB+ & FM Radio. Many stations were displayed on DAB+ whilst on FM it allowed the storing of over 6 stations to be pre-set.
Smart Internet Radio connected to the hub well, even when only a single “bar” for signal strength was displayed. It did not forget connection after it had been powered down.
Photo of rear of Homerton on downloaded manual not very clear.
In Conclusion, this is an excellent quality product comparable to many Tuners in Hi-Fi systems eg Majority Fitzwilliam2 which retails at the same price as this unit and the Oakington.
It gives a Transportable solution to supplying music around the house or even outside. It could be even better if there was a slight change to the sign-writing on the front fascia to indicate that the volume rotary dial- when pressed- also was the On/Off control.
(Good time to review the wisdom of “Grey” sign-writing” on a Silver background?)
If you are gadget minded you should gave no trouble setting thus up. I am 64 and it took no more tgan 10 minutes. It sounds wonderful
Absolutely brilliant sound system, radio and CD great, please to bits with i
The product is great, however the only criticism I have is I ordered light oak and got black!!!! Slight issue there however the product does what it says.
The first thing I noticed was the nice weight of the unit and how well built and finished it is
It also came very well packed so it arrived safely
I already own a Roberts iStream 3 radio so knew to first connect the Homerton 2 to my wifi
I tried connection the Homerton 2 to wifi using “Network Wizard”. It found my wifi SSID no problem so I selected it from the list and held down the WPS button on my router until it started blinking, unfortunately it did not connect. I tried 3 more times but it fell over and I’ve included a picture of the screen failure message
I ended up using “Manual Setup” to enter the SSID of my wifi and password. This only took a couple of minutes and it connected immediately
While going through the Network Set-up I did have the menu completely freeze on me a few times and the only way to clear it was to unplug the unit from the mains; even the on/off button stopped working
However once you do get it set up it has such a lovely sound. Doesn’t matter if you are listening to DAB, FM, Internet radio, CD or via Bluetooth etc the clarity and richness of the sound is very good indeed. It’s sound reminds me of Roberts radios to some degree. There is nothing tinny sounding about the Homerton 2
The remote control is a nice touch and it came with batteries and it works very well indeed
The front colour screen is bright and easy to read
The Homerton 2 does not come with any instructions but it’s very easy to use. You can find full instructions on the Majority Audio website if you need them
The onscreen menu/s are very easy to use and to navigate around, it’s all very intuitive and the knobs and buttons have a nice quality feel about them too
The one little negative I found was that the screen printing for the labels around both of the rotary knobs is very difficult to read as it’s been printed almost the same colour as the brushed facia. The same goes for the push bottoms eg the MENU button is indented with the word MENU however it is not that easy to read and it would help if the indented word was painted, black maybe
However don’t let any of this put you off buying the Homerton 2 as otherwise it’s a brilliant bit of kit
All in all though I absolutely love this Homerton 2. It does so many things that you will never get bored of it. It also sounds very good indeed and I think it’s a bit of a bargain, especially at the moment with the 20 off voucher
Very highly recommended
The sound from this radio is excellent and it is very well made ,and with everything seeming to be made in China its good to have something made in the UK for a change.
Great internet radio
Great DAB+
Great CD player
Great Spotify connectivity
Great Bluetooth
Great USB
Great Remote Control
Great FM radio too
What more could you ask for in such a great looking, low cost smart looking box
It takes pride of place on my cabinet.
It would look just as great on your shelf too. What are you waiting fo
Wide choice of wave band options, bit difficult to set up if not technical minded.
Not a straight forward plug in and away you go, but read manual on computer, no wrapper handbook, lovely when set.
I just wanted to start this off by saying that I am OVER THE MOON with this CD player. I have been looking for the right one for quite some time and as soon as I came across this one – I instantly fell in love with it.
I am a huge music enthusiast and therefore I have to listen to music whenever I do ANYTHING. Especially at home, headphones can’t always be practical and sometimes – they get in the way. And I’ve found that turning up the volume on my phone just doesn’t do the trick. I’ve tried multiple speakers and CD players but nothing even compares to Majority Homerton 2.
I’d like to start off by talking about its physical properties. Its dark grey, wooden design with silver elements really compliments my apartment’s interior fits in perfectly with its aesthetic. It has a modern look to it, however it also has classic CD elements to it so it makes up a nice combination. The screen on it is quite small but it is actually high in quality and displays images properly (podcast covers etc). Plus not only it is quite compact, but it is also light in weight – which I was pleasantly surprised about when I received it in the mail.
The initial setup was really straightforward and only took about five minutes, it came with instructions but they’re really not needed because of how simple yet effective the interface is. You can control the CD player either manually with a remote or via an app. I prefer using it manually as I love the old school feel of it.
Majority Homerton 2 has a wide range of connection options! Not only it can connect via USB, WiFi and Bluetooth – but also Spotify and many different radio and podcast channels. Honestly it is suitable for just about anyone! I absolutely adore the fact that I can listen to Spotify through it as it is my main streaming service. While I mainly listen to music – Majority Homerton 2 also offers many different podcast channels and genres which I think is a huge bonus as a lot of people prefer podcasts to music. It also has an option to set alarms, explore thousands of global radio stations and the ability to listen to DAB radio. I also love collecting music CD’s, which is also one of the reasons why I love Majority Homerton 2 so much. Most modern speakers and players do not support CD’s anymore as they mainly rely on internet connection and streaming services. But this CD player is everything I could have asked for and it definitely exceeded my expectations.
After a few minor problems setting up(my fault)technical assistance was excellent. I use it primarily to chill out with my favourite music stations when the tele is rubbish.
I am so happy with my homerton 2 smart radio.
I was first attracted to the sleek look of the radio, and all the features it has. Such as dab, fm radio, CD player, Bluetooth and universal plug and play, Spotify and podcasts universal playback, and dual alarm. Just wow!
I am usually not very good with technology, but it was so easy to set up and link to our home WiFi. Setting up was so easy, there was no brochure inside the packaging box they plant a tree instead, helping to keep our planet greener. There was a digital manual to scan with your phone and also an online manual if needed.
It has a fantastic range of connectivity and I was pleasantly surprised with its range of abilities. It’s hi tech without being difficult to use.
We currently have ours set up
In the kitchen which is quite far away from our home WiFi box but we don’t get any connection issues with it being so far away.
It comes with a remote control, and headphone Jack which is so handy too, especially for our youngest to use as we aren’t as keen on her choice of music as her.
The sound is amazing and clear for such a small compact product. The design is very neat and smart and fits in with our home
Decor perfectly, I have it in the black colour way but there are other colours to choose from.
I like listening to podcasts while working from home and this was perfect for it. There is a good range and easy to find.
My older children use it while linked to their phones so they can play their music. my husband loves to listen to his favourite radio channels, it’s easy to skip through the channels and find what you want, the clear digital display shows which channel you are listening to.
There is a cd feature so you can listen to your old faves.
I am very pleased with this piece of kit and will be purchasing another for our caravan as we love it so much.
Bought the Homerton 2 to replace JVC Hi Fi which due to poor signal area would not connect to DAB radio. Very smart looking compact unit, sound is awesome from such a small unit. Have not tried DAB/FM radio yet as I only listen to Internet Radio which plays perfectly and superb quality. Love the CD player without putting CD in a drawer, simply post in the slot, again awesome sound. Very good value at the price and even better on Amazon with 25% off. Other reviewers were complaining about the bright clock in standby mode, simply go to dim settings and set back light to time out, problem solved. If you want a high quality small unit with perfect sound look no further. I would suggest to not place too close to shelving above unit because of upward facing Speaker can distort sound slightly
I got one of these to replace my Squeezebox (internet radio) and amplifier/cd system which had failed (after over 15 years, so not too bad!). The set up was a piece of cake, the sound pretty good and it has all the functions I could possibly want. In fact, so good I immediately bought another one! I now have all the music I want throughout the house for very little cost! Couldn’t ask for more, I’m really happy with this product.

I ordered the Homerton 2 as an upgrade to standard DAB radio. I was looking for something to fit in with my office, not take up too much room but able to listen to DAB, Spotify or other music from my Bluetooth devices, and CDs if I fancied. The Homerton 2 does all of this along with being able to listen to hundreds of other internet radio stations. With a built in speaker too I didn’t even need to wire in my Majority D40 speakers unless I really wanted to. The sound from the Homerton 2 is loud enough to fill my office as much as i need it to, and with built in equaliser it is so easy to adjust the sound depending on what I’m listening to. I probably will plug the D40 speakers in as their sound profile is fab, and as the Homerton 2 has a headphone jack this is a simple addition to an already brilliant product. For the price I am blown away, it also looks and feels really well made.
The other really good thing is that Majority are looking to become more climate friendly so the packaging is pretty much all recyclable and the weight of the product is kept for shipping by not including things you don’t need. There is no instruction manual in the box which might upset some people but the Homerton 2 is so easy to set up I didn’t even need to review the online instructions in order to get the device connected and music playing.
I haven’t tried the CD player yet but there are the usual controls for pause, play, back, forward on the included remote, so I’m sure this will also work a dream. I honestly don’t know how Majority do it for such a low price, and such a brilliant product.
Well done!
A beautifully designed radio with excellent sound quality. Very versatile with FM, dab, internet radio and Cd. Quite easy to set up.
Initial Requirements and Expectations
After much searching for an audio unit that would be able to play my collection of music CDs, and also allow me to play mp3 files, I came across the Majority Homerton 2 which immediately sparked my interest with the addition of DAB+ & FM radio and smart Internet radio (a feature new to me!). All this with dedicated Spotify and podcast functionality, Bluetooth and remote control, it had everything I needed and much more!
Delivery
The Majority Homerton2 arrived in perfect condition, and was duly unpacked noting the excellent strong packaging and very clear instruction that all operating details are available to download from the Majority website, and the unit should also be registered to begin the very generous 3 year warranty period. Also a very nice green touch is that a tree will be planted in lieu of printed operating instructions.
Set Up
I After successfully downloading the operating instructions I began the set up procedures using the setup wizard, it was simple to set the time/date and network connection, I skipped WPS and used network password, the unit was then ready for use.
Operation
I began with CD playback, controls were simple to use and similar to most other CD players, with the ability to program, repeat or shuffle tracks, I played a variety of CDs using the EQ settings to enhance the various different styles of music, reproduction was good but stereo separation was not not very noticable.
Radio
Dab+ radio was next, the unit completes a station scan on first use, then up to 40 stations can be preset, the colour screen clearly displays station information, the operation of FM radio is very similar and RDS information is displayed.
Internet radio was a revelation to me! Thousands of radio stations from all over the world that can be located by country, location or keyword, favourite stations can also be programmed into 20 presets, once again clear station information is displayed, great fun finding unusual stations.
Spotify
A really useful feature, fast direct connection to Spotify also using a paired smartphone or other device, allowing access to the vast Spotify library of audio covering all genres and spoken word, depending on your Spotify access level.
Podcasts
A whole new world! informative and/or fun content on the widest range of subjects imaginable available quickly on the Majority Homerton 2, the podcasts can be be searched for by country of origin, genre or language, a podcast can also be located by typing in the name of the podcast if known.
USB
Simple to use by connection to the USB port on the rear of the unit for playing back audio content from a smartphone for example.
Bluetooth
Very simple to pair with smartphones or other devices, range was excellent at 10mtrs or more.
There is also provision for AUX in and headphone connections.
Sleep and a double alarm are also very useful features built into the unit.
The remote control is fully comprehensive with all functions controllable from it, most functions are also accessible from the smartly laid out front control panel.
Performance
I found playback in all modes was crisp and pleasing with more than enough volume for a medium sized room, the equaliser settings are useful to tailor the audio output to personal taste, stereo separation is not very noticable but doesn’t distract from the listening experience. The display is colourful, bright (also dimmable) and clear, however some of the scrolling information was slow. All in all the Majority Homerton 2 is a pleasure to use and listen to and looks great into the bargain.
First Impressions
Well packaged and secure. No manual with a QR code to directly link to an online manual which can be downloaded as a pdf (you have to look for the link though).
What’s in the Box?
Homerton 2, Remote, Batteries and Power Pack/Cable
Initial Look & Feel
Looks to be a premium unit with really nice contrasting colourways. I chose the black option which looks fab. The markings on the unit are difficult to see in bright light – maybe contrasting colour would help here.
It’s a solid unit with some weight to it. The remote has all the buttons you will need to operate all functions easily.
Setting Up
Easy to read on screen instructions guide you through the process of set-up: the online manual is an easy read with plenty of detail to ease you through the various connections.
Simply search for your local Wifi network and connect via your Local Password or WPS. Once connected to Wifi the unit really does come alive with all the bells and whistles available to connect to your favourite online music sources.
I chose to try out a CD first. I have loads I have not played for some time and it was great to have this function available. How many of us have CDs that are sitting in boxes?!
The DAB+ function was easy to set up with all the various Regional and Genre access you benefit from when using digital radio. There is so much content available you will never run out of things to listen to.
The Internet Radio function adds to the DAB world and I chose to search for a number of obscure radio stations to see if I could connect. Yes, easy enough to connect to St Lucia & Florida based radio. This is a great function and brings the world of radio to your listening.
The only negative I found (a very minor point) was during CD playback. There is no embedded data to display. Maybe an over the air update in the future?
As a positive, Podcasts were really easy to access – there are so many available now via DAB+ you could easily lose yourself for hours, days, weeks and months.
Bluetooth Connection
Simply turn your BT device on (mobile phone in my case) and add the Homerton 2. Once done you can use the Homerton 2 to play your digital music. The supplied remote can be used to pause and/or select next/previous track. Easy!
Two negatives exist for me here; You can’t connect the Homerton 2 to an external Bluetooth enabled sound system eg my Majority Ben Sound Bar and Sub Woofer. However, you can use the headphone connection to facilitate this if your unit is close enough to make this happen. Nor does what you are playing via Bluetooth show on the Homerton 2 home screen – minor point but useful never-the-less if you like to see your media source and what’s playing.
One real benefit is the ability to use the Undok App as your remote. This is an app you can download to your phone and then control the Homerton 2 via your phone – a really nice touch!
USB
I tried to use a 64GB USB memory stick, containing a wide range of my favourite MP3 files I use in the car. The Homerton 2 home screen simply said ‘loading’. Maybe it was the size of my memory stick but I was unable to play any of the MP3s on this stick. This has been reported to Majority tech support — a friendly lot.
Sound
From such a compact unit the sound is pretty good. There is a small ‘Bass Out Tube’ at the rear which obviously adds something to the sound quality. There is no vibration, even at higher volumes. There is an in-built equaliser where you can select a number of sound options and you can adjust bass and treble.
Final Comments
This is a decent unit that covers all the media bases well. Small and compact to situate in the Kitchen, Bedroom, in a Living Space or as a decent multi-media capable music base situated in your Living Room.
The Homerton 2 is easy to set up, has a really easy to use remote (or you can control the unit via the Undok App) and it’s a unit which produces a decent level of good quality sound for you to enjoy music or spoken word media.
The DAB+ and Internet Radio are a real bonus (there is so much to access in these formats from all over the world) and the CD player is an oft relegated benefit that seems to have disappeared from comparable units. Most of us have a lifetime investment in CD’s that we have not listened to for ages — great to revisit these with the Homerton 2.
The Clock Face when the system is ‘off’ is a nice looking thing and from the clock function you have access to a couple of alarms. And, finally, the home screen is dimmable.
For the price, I paid 139.95 from Amazon, this unit is a little gem that will get lots of use.
The Homerton 2 has arrived and I’m immediately impressed by its appearance. My furniture is various shades of oak and this unit in black will provide a striking contrast wherever situated in my home.
An accompanying leaflet indicates the manual can be seen and downloaded using a link provided. Also accessable by scanning the QR Code provided on the box and in the leaflet. Having scanned the QR Code the instructions are in plain English and easy to follow. The guarantee can be registered using a link provided in the leaflet.
Connection of the unit to my internet hub is easy and I’ve quickly accessed the Internet Radio. Music varies from country to country with differing styles and sounds that are both entertaining and somewhat educational. There’s access to over 25000 worldwide stations that can be selected using the country or genre search facility. Having listened to some stations, internet radio will be used frequently in the future. It is worth noting that the remote control is a good size and is simple to use.
Tuning all available DAB stations is successful and the clarity of sound and tonal quality is impressive. As a retired musician sound quality is important to me and there’s an equaliser facility available to adjust to suit the individual.
Again the process of tuning available FM stations is straightforward and all available stations are found.
I’ve a lifelong interest in music both as a listener and performer. However as a retired musician I’m mainly focused on listening to music so I’m looking forward to using the CD player and being portable I can use it anywhere in the home. The CD player is straightforward allowing me to skip tracks, rewind and go forward when a track is playing. The display screen on the unit advises on the CD title and track names etc. I’m looking forward to hearing CDs from my collection of hundreds. Again an amazing sound!
With my iPhone I have established a Bluetooth connection and tested connectivity playing tunes from my iTunes App. There’s no problems regarding connectivity and the music is rich in sound. Now I’m connecting the Alexa App using Bluetooth and the link was established without issue. Using the remote’s Spotify button and following instruction on the unit’s display screen I’m able to access my Spotify App. I now have the choice of listening to music from the Alexa, iTunes and Spotify Apps in a sound that is far superior to that of my iPhone. I don’t use the Podcast App but I’m confident that it would perform at the same successful level as the Alexa, iTunes and Spotify Apps.
Currently I transfer my MP3 recordings to USB sticks that I play the car. This unit has USB playback and having selected the USB function I can hear that the playback is clear with an excellent sound.
Concluding there are now many opportunities for me to listen to and enjoy great sounds through the Homerton 2’s functions (Internet, DAB, and FM radio, CD player, USB Playback and the Bluetooth connectivity)
We live in an area where radio reception is to put it mildly problematic. Reception of both DAB and FM radio is variable across the house. I have for two years used a Majority Peterhouse Internet radio in the spare room at the back of the house and been delighted as I can’t get a DAB or FM signal there! We wanted to improve the quality of the reception in the lounge at the back of the house and having the option to play CD’s and have a Bluetooth speaker all in one package with the Internet radio was a major attraction. It all arrived a couple of days ago via Amazon so this represents my experience in that time.
Opening the package it was all there- including the batteries for the remote control! There is no manual in the box and that comes as a download but to be honest I got it up and running following the on screen prompts. The Internet radio required linking to our wi-fi network but that took seconds and has proved rock solid. The range of stations available is enormous but we have a few favourites so they were quickly and easily added. I took the unit into the front bedroom, where DAB and FM reception is best and that all worked equally well using the aerial on the rear of the unit.
Playing CD’s is simply a matter of selecting CD on the remote, slotting them into the front of the unit and away you go. The display shows the track number and today’s date as well as a CD symbol. Press the BT (Bluetooth) button on the remote and the unit becomes a Bluetooth speaker for your phone/tablet after it has been paired from the remote. Press that button again and the podcast menu opens up. The options are wide and I found my favourites there easily using the on screen menus. In the spirit of a full review I tried out Spotify which I don’t normally use– two presses of the Internet radio button on the remote — and it uses the unit as a speaker from your phone/tablet. The one option I have not used and probably never will is the USB playback. Partly because the socket is at the back of the unit and secondly because I do not know why I would need it as I have nothing on a USB that I can’t get from the other functions — but that’s me!
The big thing about this unit is the sound quality, Perhaps because the case is wooden or perhaps it is because the speakers face upward but the sound is really good and it does not vary with the source. There is an equaliser function via the remote to tune that to your taste. Overall it looks good and when switched to standby shows an analogue clock. Which brings me to my only criticism. Switching off with the remote leaves the unit on and there is no proper “off” switch on the unit so I have to switch it off at the wall. But despite that this is an excellent buy!
I’ve been looking for a compact CD player that’ll fit with my decor so I can play my old CD’s that just aren’t on streaming services. I came across the Majority Homerton 2 and given its array of functionality, looks, and price, I thought I’d give it a spin.
It arrived well packed and when I took it out of the box I was surprised by its weight and how sturdy it felt. Once fired up it launched into the set up wizard which is pretty simple to do and took less than 5 minutes.
With some 80’s tunes on the CD player I thought I’d better read the instructions. The instructions are online and accessed with the QR code on the box which is a great sustainable touch. They are detailed and easy to follow, but to be honest the Homerton 2 is really intuitive so most people probably won’t need them.
All of the functions can be accessed on the remote (which has a lovely ‘click’ to it) or on the front of the unit, but it also has an app, which is probably how I’ll use it. The app is really good, and again the set up was so easy – I think the only thing you can’t do on the app is eject a CD!
The Homerton 2 sounds great for its size and although I’ll be integrating it into my current audio eco-system via the jack on the back, it’s good to know it can belt out a tune. And the connectivity available is better than some systems that are far far more expensive – you’ve USB, jacks in and out, Bluetooth (which has great range) and Spotify connect. And on top of that you get podcast player and the internet radio, neither of which I knew I needed but now absolutely love. Both are simple to use, even more so on the app and there is so much to explore.
So all in all I’d thoroughly recommend the Homerton 2 to anyone looking for a dab / internet radio / CD player that’s affordable, flexible and has some oomph.
