Was hesitant at first because of the price. But this time you really get what you pay for. Does what it is expected and does it well. Very easy to use right of the bat. Not much learning curve needed. Does not damage corrugated sheet metal like shears do. Very well built. Seems it will last a very long time. Helps to shorten work time by a factor of at least ten compared to manual snips and does it better. ONLY con I can think of is you have to be careful of sharp metal cutouts left every where after cutting

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI needed to buy this for my husband years ago. He used it for all the tin and 17 gauge fence wire. We need to in close and roof a 10 by 22 coop. Top peak 12 feet. With two 15 feet by 3 foot fence wire windows. It cuts like a dream. Straight down the chalk line. My husband is the original “Tim the toolman”. But he couldn’t mess it up. A great gift and worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery powerful easy to cut curves/circles. Great quality product heavy duty the trigger can be a little tricky to use in the beginning it locks in place rather than just pull or push. By far the easiest metal tool to cut curves. The only disadvantage is that leaves these little small fingernails/toenail clippings everywhere they can be very sharp and can stick to everything recommend getting a magnetic pick up tool or keeping a shop vac handy. It is easier to fit into tight places that other metal cutting tools. Must wear safety glasses if especially cutting overhead! Just like every tool it has its place. Not good for straight cuts but perfect for curves.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis thing is a champion! I did my metal roof with it. Its a hip roof with 170′ of ridge cap. So that’s 320′ of cuts for the panels on each side of the Ridgeline. If I didn’t have this tool, I would’ve been suffering and dieing with all those cuts! This thing melts through the metal like butter! Definitely put a tarp down to catch the little half Moon shavings that the nibbler Spits out. Thankfully It throws the chips away from the operator because those things are dangerous! Make sure they don’t end up in your shoes if your helping somebody with the cuts!

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI bought the Makita JN1601 Nibbler to build a steel clad pole barn. This tool is impressive when it comes to cutting ribbed steel. What would take several minutes with tin snips or metal shears, takes about 20 seconds with this nibbler. It is extremely impressive. Even better, it shoots the crescent moon shaped nibbles away (downward) from the operator rather than upward toward the operator like some of the others do. The main caution for any nibbler is that the nibbles get embedded in your shoe soles if you walk on them, and you could track them into your house to get stuck in carpets or scratch hardwood floors. (I know this from experience!)

I have used it to cut panels for a steel barn. Despite the many chips it produces it actually makes a remarkably smooth nearly bur free edge. You have to get used to maneuvering the unit to follow he contour of metal ribs. The cut tool minimizes distortion of the metal. I am pretty happy with this tool.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought this to cut sheet metal siding/trim as we are putting “max-rib” (R-panel) 29 gauge siding/roofing on a large outbuilding. This nibbler is very easy to use and you will get the hang of it quickly. I advise to pull up on the tool when you are cutting, this helps with vibration/flapping of the panel. You will learn to quickly follow a line, it makes a great cut. Well worth the $270 I paid for it to make good, quick cuts.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersHoly cow… I’m banging myself in the forehead…. years ago I built two steel buildings, one that is mine (2000 SF) and then helped a friend build his (3500 SF). For those two buildings we wrestled with hand shears, bled and cursed considerably- had blisters, ragged edges… lots of “close enough” cuts. This summer, another friend decided he wanted to build a shop as well, and I can’t say “no” to a good project. BUT in the ebbs and flows of economic standing, I was flush enough to buy one of these for this project.

Cuts like crazy, easy to control, makes beautiful curves, whacks through ribbed building sheets, and makes you look like a pro doing it. This is essential equipment. If I had known how nice this tool was, I’d have jumped through hoops to have one for the first two buildings.

The only warning I can offer is be careful of the curf, this leaves “fingernail trimings” of very sharp steel in its wake, a roofing magnet made quick work of picking those up.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersGot this for cutting steel panels for our barn/shop and love it. Goes over ridges great, cuts the panels like butter, fast, leaves a clean cut and easy to follow a line. Beats the heck out of snips and jigsaws – just no comparison to the way I’ve cut panels in the past. One thing maybe to keep in mind is to check the bottom of shoes when leaving the work area. The little nibbled pieces of steel can get stuck in the bottoms of shoes and might damage carpet/hard wood flooring.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a very nice and well made tool. Perhaps I’ve just never learned the knack, but I find the thing a bit of a beast. It just takes off and is very hard to control. I’ve tried clamping guides in place and a few other methods to try and get greater control of the cuts, but nothing will allow me to get really precise cuts. It does chew through work with great efficiency, so if you just need rough cuts this tool will probably work perfectly for you. If you need controlled cuts with any degree of precision, keep looking. In spite of the difficulty of control, I still find myself picking up this tool in many situations. It’s useful in enough situations that you are unlikely to regret the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this to cut out the vents in my skirting on my double wide mobile. To my surprise when I received the skirting the sheets were a bit larger than I had planed. Well as luck would have it the tool arrived the day before. ( shipped on time ) I made the first rip cut of 16 feet and by the time I got to the end of the sheet I was a pro. I ended up cutting over 270 feet with this tool with no problems. Material I was cutting, ( Champion’s ultra panels). It cut like butter.
Cutting out the vents took a little planning. I used a step bit in all four corners inserted the tool and was the easiest to do with the skirting installed. I do recommend that you cut every thing in the same area as there was a lot of little half moon chips.. picked those up with a roller magnet. Did the whole project in about 6 hours.
I looked at all the nibblers on line and for the price of this tool I am very impressed. great amperage, speed of cutting, cuts clean and very accurate. I have no issues. Wished that I would have purchased years ago. No more saw blades or cut off wheels for me. 5 star is my rating. Note: I have been in the trades for over 35 years and love a great tool!

This was the first metal nibbler I have owned, so I can’t compare it to others, but it worked well on the first job. I bought it for the price, but the quality has been beyond my expectations. I used it cutting metal roofing sheets on angles for hips and valleys. It sometimes gets hung up in the ridges of the sheet, but some of that may be the operator. It cuts straight and fast. I am well satisfied. A very good product for the money.
