Cute toy but it’s overpriced. I bought a Barbie Mermaid doll that lights up, can be submerged in water and cost $10 cheaper. This doll is big and colorful so I understand why little girls love it, but for the price, it’s a terrible value. To get all of the dolls in the set cost more than $100. That’s not something my 4yo granddaughter should aspire for. At this price, she’s only getting one.

My daughter loves the look of this doll, it’s very pretty and the colour change is nice. This doll changes colour in cold water which I think is a bit annoying as my daughter likes to use it in the bath. I do wish it came with more accessories
This specific 5-dolls series is very impressive. This face mould reacts to different colours in such interesting ways. This face, unlike Harmonique, is extremely unique each time it is offered in a new colour. Each doll has an own personality, and the faces are just stunning. It is compact, well-presented, and lightweight. However, the doll is exposed in the box since a hole in the plastic cover covers the doll’s tail. The adage “you get what you pay for” is unquestionably true. The quality is excellent and ought to last for a very long time. Not that awful, knotted hair, but wonderful mermaid hair. With this mermaid doll compared to others, you can tell the difference in quality.
This is a really cute doll, the mermaid’s face is very detailed and realistic. Her hair is gorgeous and the accessories included are very interesting and detailed. It’s on the higher side price wise but I think it’s worth it as it’s well made.

I received this mermaid toy for free as part of the Amazon Vine Programme.
This toy is absolutely beautiful, my nieces love it! It comes packaged beautifully and the doll is quite big with some lovely accessories! The tail is a little bit too big to fit in a regular glass to change colours but in the bath/in a jug works well too – just be careful with her hair as it doesn’t dry the same as it was! The colours on this doll are so pretty – I love all of the pinks and purples and it’s provided for hours of fun! The only thing that would put me off getting any more is that they are quite expensive but it provide a lot of enjoyment!
Kishiko arrives in a beautifully designed box which has a large V cut out of it with the bottom half of the tail sticking through.
The box is approx 30.5cm x 30.5cm x 8.5cm & look designed for this series of dolls to be kept & displayed in their boxes.
I have all 5 of these & they all appear to have the exact same head mould, each with different skin tones, eye colours, make up & hair.
All of the Mermaze Mermaidz are absolutely gorgeous but I am not really sure who they are aimed at.
Kishiko is a trend setter who seems to be an influencer as she likes to live stream & of the five.
She is best friends with Jordie.
Her outfit is a lot like the one she wears on the show, as is her colour change tail.

Her tail is a beautiful mix of pale purple, green then pink & resembles ruched fabric (each doll has a very different tail fin)
From the waist down, her tail is hard, rigid plastic with the jointed tail fin intended to work as a stand when folded.
I found Kishiko quite easy to stand on her fin (they all seem to work better for me when I set the tails backwards & lean the dolls back a little rather than forward) but for display I would want to use a doll stand as they are not the most stable.
Her head is jointed to move side to side with a little movement up & down so poses beautifully.
Her eyes are really stunning – inset with individually rooted long eyelashes.
Her make up is the same as on the show, but my favourite part of her face is actually her abundance of freckles.
Her upper body is jointed at the waist & also just under her bust.
Her hands come off to change clothes more easily (all 5 dolls can clothes swap) & they pop back on without trouble (they are slightly squishy feeling plastic).
They can be rotated at the wrist quite freely for posing or playing.
She is also jointed at the elbows & shoulders.
Kishiko comes with a boob tube, mesh jacket, cloud shaped purse, necklace & earrings.
I was a little surprised she didn’t come with a phone to be honest as it would have been totally in keeping with her character.
If dipped in water, her tail colour changes quite dramatically but it looks brilliant wet or dry.
The dolls (other than their clothes) are intended to be got wet, but their hair will need restyling after getting wet so I didn’t want to risk it as the styles they come with are really nice & I am not convinced I could do better.
Although the box art shows the Mermaidz as having knee length hair, like the rest of them Kishikos hair is a fair bit longer & nearly down to her ankles.
I have to say I really don’t like her hairstyle because I think the ‘unicorn horn’ bit looks odd so I will probably restyle her hair.
Her hair is my least favourite of all the girls.
You are advised to remove their clothing (they all have painted on bra style tops which can get wet, which are different for each doll) before playing with them in water.
Her tail is hollow so you need to stand her upright on a towel to make sure she is drained properly after putting her in the water.
One thing I do dislike is that she is fixed in the box with a string that goes into her tail through her waist & it’s very awkward to get the last bits of string out.
All the dolls have this issue – I had to do a lot of wriggling her around to get rid of the visible bits.
She has pull out earrings which I wouldn’t say are suitable for smaller kids.
I think they come out a little too easily.
Taking Kishiko out of her box pretty much destroys it, so if you intend to display her, you need to decide whether to keep her boxed or not before you open it.
To me, these seem better quality than Barbie, but the clothes are not quite as well made as Rainbow High doll clothes.
Mermaidz heads are smaller than a Rainbow High dolls, but bigger than a Barbies in proportion to her body.
The web series etc.. seems to be definitely aimed at a younger age group, but the price & the look of the dolls feels more like it’s aimed at the collector market.
They really are so very pretty I can’t help but love them but I wish they had a joint in their tails around knee level for extra posing possiblities.
Too pricey. The overall look is nice, but not really playable enough. Can’t even get her too sit properly. Please make a bendable knee for her tail in the future MGA.
Her face sculpt is nowhere near the prototype, in case anyone is wondering. Put the doll beside the promotional photo and you can see.
There’s not much pose you can do with it doll, such a shame really, since this line has such beautifully designed dolls but came with very limited articulation for photography and playability.
This mermaid doll is absolutely stunning!!! My daughter has been begging me to get her one and was so happy when she finally got it. She is obsessed with anything mermaid , so this doll was perfect for her. The doll is so pretty and has amazing details. It comes with a variety of fun accessories to play with and add to the doll. Her arms, head, and tail all move and she is well made. My daughter hasn’t played with her in the bath yet, so not sure about her tail chipping like other people have said. So far she has held up great and no chipping. I do think that it’s a bit pricey though, but if it makes my daughter happy that’s what matters to me. Overall satisfied with this mermaid. My daughter had been playing with her nonstop and wants to get more.
This doll is great.
+ It has eyelashes and kind-of inset eyes.
+ The hair is great.
– The tail is permanent.
POINTS OF ARTICULATION:
* you can remove the hands altogether (possibly the manufacturer then will issue additional sets, like with Darak bodies for Paola Reina Amigas or Bratz), just a guess;
* the arms are the usual shoulder, elbow, wrist combination;
* the body moves under the chest and on the hips right above (kind of inside) the tail;
* and, of course, the head.
The hands and the face are softer (possibly, with addition of plasticine, a toxin you don’t want near children.
If you are choosing this doll for a child, please consider a healthier, safer options – vinyl that contains no toxins (or where toxins are reduced), such as PetitCollin Minouche dolls, or Zwergnase. No, they are not paying me for advertising, I have children myself and I have done my research, this is how I know. These two brands of dolls are not only a healthier options, they also make a great collectible as they do not go down in price much after you have had them for some time. Mermaze dolls could have been in this category were they limited addition (and, with removable tails).
Overall, this is a great new doll and apart from the points above, there is another thing you have to be aware of – all of these dolls in this series have the same face mold. On this particular doll it looks quite stunning and slightly different from the others. Kishiko has that stunned, unfocused Marilyn Monroe expression that is quite unique amongst these five newcomers. She is a true unicorn, looking very naive and pensive. I though she would be one of the two dolls I would like the least, surprisingly, she is one of the three favourites.
I have loved mermaids for as long as I can remember and I get excited when I see cool, unique looking mermaids so I was drawn to this doll immediately. I love the whole line, they are so cute and the tails are beautifully sculpted. I like that they are wearing fashionable outfits too instead of the typical seashell bra or bikini top. The packaging is nice (hard to wrap though because there is a cutout for the tail – save yourself a headache and buy a gift bag if you plan to gift this to someone) and would look great sitting on a collector’s shelf.
Doll is good and fashionable. Hair and face are stunning, and the jewelry and outfit is nice. Doll had a lot of articulation, and the tail fin is great. Tail is a nice color, but its hollow and not the best quality, and the color change feature doesn’t work too well. Packaging can cause hair style to get messed up when unboxing, and the price is a bit too high for just one doll at this quality. I still do love her though, and I would recommend.

Well made, good details and very playable.
I’m a collector and have always loved mermaids. She is lovely. I don’t like the fact that her tail hangs out from package. It moves up and down. She seems to be well made and durable. I really do love her. May buy another!

The hair turned out to be much better quality than hair on the other two dolls. It looks natural and very pretty. The hairdo is just perfect.
The doll is attached to the box with totally excessive amount of plastic ties. Make sure you have kitchen scissors and a knife to get the doll out of the packaging. The cherry on top is paper twine they tied the doll to the box. Lately, the use of the twine was a sign of the company getting away from using so much plastic in packaging, and it is a great sign. But only if you actually do it for this purpose. Here, I really cannot understand the logic. The twine goes inside the doll’s tail and comes out on both sides of the body. However hard I tried, I cannot figure out how to remove it. I am not sure what will happen if I cut it off – will it get stuck somewhere and impede the doll’s articulation even more? Does it have any actual function aside from showing how environmentally conscious the manufacturer is, despite all the plastic they used in packaging?
This mermaid doll is so beautiful. It was a little diffIcult to free the mermaid from all of her packaging. You will need scissors and patience. The doll is very unique. I love her hair and outfit. This is a wonderful gift idea for a little kid who loves mermaids.
Got this doll for my 5 year old daughter who is obsessed with mermaids and she loves it. The doll is so beautiful from head to fin, and very detailed with realistic eyes and gorgeous pink and purple hair. She comes with cute and fun fashion accessories to add to her. Her fin can change colors in the water and can also be used as a stand to pose her. It’s not very sturdy, but it works sometimes. The packaging was the only issue I really had with this doll because it was such a pain to open and take off all the plastic. But once its open the doll is amazing and a lot of fun to play. My daughter has two of these mermaid dolls and wants the rest of them too. They are pretty pricey though, so that may take awhile lol. I’m overall happy with the doll and glad my daughter loves it. This one is definitely her favorite so far.
Mermaze’s Kishiko doll comes in a very attractive packaging. It makes a lovely gift presentation, but there are so many plastic clips holding her hair in place that is frustrating to remove her from the packaging.
Once she’s out, she’s impressive. Her hair is voluminous, soft, colorful, and nicely braided. Her eyes are detailed and glass-like with soft eyelashes. The mermaid tail is large and eye catching and she can stand up on her folded mermaid tail if you position her weighty hair in front of her torso. The clothes and accessories are well made.
The color changing aspect of the tail works fine, but is a bit gimmicky.
All in all… a fine doll.
I don’t like how in the instructions you are advised how to wash the gel out of the dolls hair but then warned how the dolls hair will not look the same. The instructions also have you remove the dolls clothes so they don’t get wet. Are you supposed to get the doll wet? For a doll that in all advertising you are encouraged to wet it makes it feel like ultimately maybe it’s best if you don’t because you’ll ruin the doll if you do.
I also worry that the doll can retain water – while the company provides directions on how to properly drain the doll it leaves me wondering why certain parts weren’t simply made solid.
I was disappointed in the dolls hair even before unboxing. It seemed extremely messy and had strands sticking up all over which shouldn’t be the case given the gel used. The durability just isn’t there and the company really covers that for themselves in the directions.
The doll is pretty and would be well received by a child however you’re paying for way more than you’re actually getting. I am giving it 4 star based on the appearance of the doll hair.

I well understand the thought process behind MGA choosing this box design but NOOOOOOOOOO!! Who on earth thought this was acceptable?? Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
-ZERO protection for the most important part of the tail due to it being how you stand the doll. Absolutely ridiculous!
– I reckon that’s one reason paint is missing and or chipped off in various locations on my tail. Her tail is also already well broken in. By that I mean theres no more tension left. It just flip flops like a $5 Dollarstore toy.
Considering how awful Amazon is becoming, I’m just thankful her tail wasn’t more damaged. Walmart sells these too so I’d recommend purchasing in person if you can or even from their online store. For less.
Be aware that the doll hair is of wool or wool blend. If you own OMG Miss Royal, same hair. Partial pic included. (You can style this hair type with very low heat, turning it into the shiny hair most dolls have if desired. Caution and research advised should it be your 1st time tho.)
-The small center unicorn bun appears to be glued on.
– One side is predominantly pink, the other purple. The ends are hella ratty. Thankfully a easy fix.
-The hair is heavy. A majority of the total doll weight.
-Getting this particular type of hair wet is a NO GO. If your little/child must have this doll in the tub, I’d highly recommend leaving all the braiding intact. Otherwise it is going to be a nightmare to deal with.
Be aware that the main selling point of the tail color change action, is temporary. It is only ment to work for a certain amount of time meaning eventually the tail will stop changing colors altogether. This is kinda a big deal for the price point. Not an issue for Collectors but as a parent, I’d want to know this.
– It isn’t uncommon for your doll to arrive with the tail color changed as mine did. You can see that the front and back are different in my photos. As soon as you remove the doll from the packaging the tail should revert to the proper color.
– I’ve noticed my doll changing colors depending upon the room temp. I’ve never had plans of water being anywhere near the doll in the first place, BUT this means that her tail changing colors on their own will reduce the longevity heaps faster.
As with the OMG Dolls, the hands are removable by gently pinching the wrists for ease of putting on clothing.
WEIRDEST and ugliest doll hands ever!!
– Her hands are oddly large and oddly shaped. I cannot seem to capture what they look like on camera. Maybe I’ll try to take and add a photo of OMG, RH and these for comparison.
– The thumb is just a stub while the middle finger is the longest of them all. The left hand on mine looks lumpy rather than normal looking fingers. As mentioned, hands are removable. – The hand pins are uneven. Thankfully the stubby one is just enough to keep the one hand attached firmly.
-Definitely give the hands a check before giving to children.
I would have expected painted nails especially on these flipper sized ones lol.
The proportions are odd. I cannot adequately describe them. She does come with a cute butt crack. Which is also odd lol.
Her ID mark is on her left side and back.
Doll does stand on her own decently well.
Due to the way the doll was packaged, the body/torso of my doll wants to stay in that position leaning to the right. I can adjust her 20x a day and she’ll be leaning to the side again. It’s possible her hair is heavier on that side as the reason. Will be interesting to see if the others I ordered from WM instead will do the same.
Clothing/Accessories: The little jacket is well made. It’s plastic with fabric bubble sleeves. No loose threads or messy sewing. The little purple top is adorable.
I love her little matching painted on purple bikini top! It has a tiny bit of glitter.
-The Cloud purse is cute. I like how it’s slightly rounded so it lays flush against the tail or torso.
-The necklace and earrings are adorable. They could/can also be easily swallowed by a child so something to watch out for.
Extremely gorgeous doll there’s no two ways about it.
Not sure she’s worth $50. She feels so cheap to hold. For me and besides the fact that I like mermaids and the more unusual kinda dolls, I kinda feel like I’m (we) are paying for a beautiful face. Which on that note, the makeup is wonky on both eyes. Thankfully they aren’t too bad. The eyelashes on one eye doesn’t follow the eyeliner and on the other side, there’s extra eyeliner and lower lashes. I’m just going to assume that my doll likes partying ALOT lol…
I will take and upload a better photo asap of the one that I placed her next to some of my other dolls for size comparison. I hastily and temporarily tucked her up there for the current photo. If you look closely, you can see how the doll is leaning to the right..
4 Stars due to the box/packaging and putting the stunning face aside, still not sure if I’d recommend for the price point. I’m a wee bit stumped about it so if that’s how I feel, I’m not going to highly recommend with confidence.
I DON’T recommend this doll line for 4+yr old kids. The Collectors Edition Mermaze Mermaidz, I’d recommend for little kids and maybe Jordie (the sporty doll.) All the others have way too many items easily swallowed.
-Almost everything about this doll line is directed more to collectors. Including how they are posed, then tacked into the box.
As this was a long read,,thank you! These take time, and in this case I didn’t include the reasons as to why the packaging itself is such a serious issue.

UPDATE:
I've now purchased all the other dolls from WM. This doll collection is definitely for collectors. I wouldn't classify them as kid safe or even for play. Especially for 4+ yr olds. Only ORRA is suitable for bathtub play and for children. As lightly stated in the manufacturer listing description that the hair will change upon getting wet,,I can vouch that the hair of the other dolls SHOULD NOT be anywhere near water. Period.
From a collector standpoint, I really love each doll. One thing these dolls aren't lacking is thick full hair. Of course each doll has its drawbacks however I'm happy to have them. Hope that you will too!
