I’ve played a piano for many years, and found the A49 keyboard responsive and easy to play.
It is light, I can pick it up and sit it on my lap.
I used it with Apple Garageband, and also the supplied Komplete Kontrol software.
It took a while to figure out the Mac permissions to get the keyboard to work with the software and I raised a ticket and got a quick answer about setting those.
Very happy with this keyboard, and particularly “The Gentleman” sampled piano. Sounds great.
As always native instruments do not disappoint . This is a superb keyboard and is ideal for those who are restricted on space . It may be smaller in size but does not compromise on quality. Highly recommended. The service and delivery from the supplier was fantastic and my delivery arrived three days before it was planned . Well packed and everything arrived in security sealed packaging . I have further purchases to make in the coming months and will definitely be using this company again . This is a fantasic bit of kit If you have Kontact Komplete then you neede this, it makes life much better when finding sounds. it works with your DAW perfectly so much so it has a replaced a harware control fader i was using due to being able to control the mixer on the DAW It is very well built Begining to think I should I got the bigger one now

This is the smallest of NI’s piano-style controller keyboards and just right for hand luggage on a plane. The real value comes with access to the World of NI with an overwhelming collection of apps, effects and top-quality software instruments. Hardware and software is very tightly integrated to make music-making on a computer as intuitive and organic as it can be. Keyboard action is adequate and I have quickly learned to key in a way that best suits the keyboard. I have splashed out on a couple of beautiful instruments for Kontact Player, but there are whole orchestras and film music production tools, at considerable expense, available for this humble little keyboard.

Solid keyboard. Once it’s set up, integrates with my DAW (Cubase) really well. Excellent build quality, buttons are a bit more “clicky” than the S series, but work fine.

Good quality and is excellent if you are immersed in the NI ecosystem. Otherwise a cheaper one would be fine. Komplete Kontrol espeacially with Maschine is Powerful
The product is, in itself, great. It comes with an amazing piece of software and its integration with both Kontrol and Maschine is wonderful. But, and its an important but, the need for the light guide for a beginner is much missed when compared to the most expensive version. for someone without a mastery of the scales yet, it gets tiring to use the easy feature and play every scale as it is was C major. It really is counterproductive for productivity, as you keep pressing the same keys.
It integrates wonderfully with Logic , I can turn away from the computer and use the buttons to record , playback , turn on metronome, scrub and loop recording. the keys feel pretty good as well for something in this price range. I have the Komplete control software too , so the 8 knobs adjust patch parameters right out of the box.

Having gone through a number of keyboards and giving up on hammer action and subsequently ending up with the NI S49 I absolutely recommend this for a starter pack, and I have one for travelling. At the price its unbeatable – the included software is a great start and the construction quality while not the S49 ( 4 times the price ) level is above in comparison to the myriad of products in this price range. You’ll not be playing two handed concertos for sure so much is possible with this little device. Native Instruments have come a long way to offer something like this at this price – if starting out or looking into using software based synths, drum machine sand samplers start no where else but here.
So many good things can be said about this product. The sound library is very attractive too.
