With just the two of us now – and the constant guess the electricity price this week it was time to review the use of the large oven. We purchased the Ninja to replace the oven – cook faster and reduce our electricity. It does all of that and now the big lad awaits the return of the family at Xmas. Delighted with the results. If there is a down side – cleaning can be cumbersome otherwise 9 out of 10.
Our old Bosch oven of 15yrs went kaput, so looked around and found this. It has a reasonable size capacity, with multiple functions. Good, I thought, just what we need. Initially, my wife hated it. (My fault of course, though she did say yes). Going from a standard oven, is bit of a learning curve. It heats up in a couple of minutes, and has a load of predetermined settings which are usually correct. Some timings may need tweaking a bit. We’ve got the hang of it now, and (thank god), my wife is a bit happier with it. And it’s more energy efficient.
Now the cons: wire racks, stainless steel, fine. Trays, fine.
Interior seems to be made of duralamin, which is a b***er to clean. If you don’t wipe/clean it EVERY time, you will get immovable stains. Why the hell didn’t they coat with stain resistant material, like a normal oven? The machine costs enough anyway.
Having said that, it’s versatile, and makes great toast!
Was new to Ninja, got the Speedi and soup maker early that week.
Over the last few months all 3 machines are getting well used, the oven daily.
Got a newish Smeg double electric oven which I can’t knock but the Ninja 10-1 foodi is so handy.
The speed it gets up to temperature is incredible, 2 minutes tops.
My ageing toaster has been binned the toast/bagel setting are great and the plus side of seeing what’s going on stops the burnt bits.
All in all I love it.
foil on the shelves and pans or put an oven tray lined with non stick foil under the air fry basket to reduce mess and cleaning. I put the air fryer basket in the dishwasher if necessary- comes out lovely and clean – and have soaked the roasting tray in the sink overnight. This is my third Ninja grill/oven/bbq I have bought this year and I’m am more than impressed with all of them. You get what you pay for.
Having already purchased two other Ninja products for the kitchen, soup/smoothy maker and 15-5 Pro Max, it was time to purchased a new cooker has the old one cost to must to run. Only time will tell if running this 10 in 1 over will be cost effective each a good 6 months of use.
Part of the oven so quick. Have baked part baked rolls as well. Great for cooking pizzas as has a pizza function. Would highly recommend
This is my second oven in 12 months the first one I bought on eBay regirsterd with ninja for the two year warranty but ninja didn’t want to know when my broke so if you want to take a chance it’s an expensive chance to take just read the reviews on ninja before buying.
Now the problem with cleaning as with the majority of reviews is extremely difficult. Going by the book a clean after use with a damp cloth & soapy water does not work other than on the door glass. The back panel has often brown staining on it that will not budge unless you us a well known soap pad contrary to instructions. Same problem with the top. I hasten to add we are very sparing with the use of oil & tend to use veg oil or a spray.
Apart from the cleaning issue the oven is a welcome addition to our kitchen. I am however slightly concerned about the complaints on the ovens not working afterseveral months.
From a cooking perspective, I love that you can cook an entire meal in one place and the food tastes so good—oven-roasted chicken, fish cakes and chips, roast spuds, and the best crispy pizza ever.
Cleaning it, however, is a total nightmare and, when you consider that Ninja produces such good non-stick products which are easy to clean, you wonder what happened when designing this one.
Great oven but a total failure on keeping it clean. Come on Ninja you can do better than this!
After reading reviews of this Ninja, it appeared to be a sensible move to purchase one, in order to hopefully return that smile to my wife’s kitchen face.
Taking delivery of a thoroughly well packed electrical item, reassured us from the off, that the oven’s quality was going to be high, and we were not disappointed.
My wife not only has a smile in the kitchen again, but she is positively beaming with delight at how outstanding and effective all the various functions are.
No longer do we wait for an eternity for an oven to heat up, wasting energy and money in the process.
Contrary to some comments, we found the accompanying manual very informative, helpful, and thorough. And when cooking, if, as all good cooks should do, you clean the unit where necessary straight away, then maintaining everything clean is a breeze.
In what might appear to be a very simple test of it’s capabilities, we found that making cheese on toast was straightforward, using the toast, followed the grill functions. Result? Even toast to both bread sides, and cheese grilled to perfection.
Chips cooked in the air fryer result in real chips, and not pale imitations. Baking bread and cakes is an even process, which our old fan assisted oven found was rather hit and miss.
Great purchase well worth the money paid anyone want to purchase an electric range cooker?
Great bit of kit, heats up super quick , bakes pretty much everything. Food bakes excellent , pizza to perfection , chicken perfect and only takes minutes. Super efficient. Only down side is you need to clean down after use or risk food being hard baked on, but other than this , perfect.
Great oven, very easy to use and cooks fantastic.
This is my second one of this type I give my old one to family how love it.
It’s a little large but the functions more than make up for it.
As others have noted its a bit hard to keep clean but i find it not that bad.
Bought on behalf of my mum & dad who used one while on holiday & liked it so much. Have since given away their toaster as they didn’t need it any more & mum has cooked cakes in it as quicker than using her ove
I like ninja you get things that do the job this is lovely oven does lots and ideal for small normal oven instead of huge normal one takes while to get use to and ajust timing to your preference i use recommened times then add few minutes if i want to.
Cooked a large chicken with beautifully cooked crispy roast potatoes. At the same time .
Cooked frozen sausage rolls and fries and chicken nuggets all at the same time on the air fry came out amazing. So so happy with it .
Only thing unhappy with , even though I clean oven every time I use it , it’s impossible to completely get all the marks off.
The more I use it the more stains I can’t remove.
I have take out the oven in our caravan and with the help of YouTube I have made / altered the oven space to make a shelf and securing for this oven.
Now for the oven; if you have used a Ninja then this oven is in every way as good and better but in oven form.
It cooks pizza with ease and a finish you like. Toast and bagels, it even has a setting for them, even my home oven dose not do that !
Cleaning is easy but crumbs are a nightmare as ever.
It can be loud, compared to a normal fan oven. Sounds a bit jet-like. But the results outweigh that slight annoyance. Oven chips come out greater than any normal oven, though I have tweaked the temperature a little, down from 200C to 195C.
It’s relatively easy to clean, the only fiddly bit is the heating element shields.
Got this during a kitchen re-fit, but it’s now in permanent use and I find myself wanting a version of this that’s the size of a normal 60cm wide in-unit fan oven.
Tempted by their new BBQ/Smoker now…
I got this mainly for toast, it takes some trial and error to get it right but once you learn to add correct amount of minutes, it comes out grea
Have loved using this so far. It’s not too difficult to work out how to use, and is fairly user friendly. We’ve been very impressed so far with everything that we’ve cooked. Would highly recommend this product.
When it arrived one of the wire racks had one of the wires not fixed at one end. As part from that it works well. I have used it for air frying, toast and various mixed meals. I did roast a 1kg gammon joint but it got overcooked on the outside and only just done on the inside.
Pros
Super fast to get the temperature.
Takes up little physical space on the work top. A little bigger than the microwave when laid flat
Provides the various trays you need.
Cons
The top gets very warm when cooking, so think about pets wandering round.
The recipes are US based so of little help in some of them – What is Broiling?
Timings are completely out in the recipes. Frozen chips are 20 minutes in the documentation. They were dry and cremated in 10 minutes when I did them from frozen at the correct temperatures. So take care when cooking and watch what it is doing because it is very quick.
Roasting is not really possible as it won’t fit a chicken in there, but will easily fit a load of chicken legs in the tray.
I am being picky with this but not sure you can really class it as 8 in 1, toasting and bagels are basically the same as grilling.
Because of the timings I can’t give it 5 stars but well worth it.
Let’s cut the nonsense. You are not missing out on an air fryer if you do not own one.
The oven is great for space saving and for heating up to cook temperature in under a minute. You can use a bake or roast function for this too.
But basically, we can give all these names to a square cooking box that is actually AN OVEN. Just to repeat it’s an oven.
So, to sum up. If you want a space saving device, an energy efficient oven compared to a large oven, you live alone, and need a grill too; it is perfect. The grill feature takes some time to toast bread so you will need to be patient but it does toast properly compared to a toaster. I suppose more crunchy.
Whether you air fry, bake or roast, unless you are doing french fries there is little difference so don’t get sucked into this obsession with an air fryeryou don’t use fat for frozen chips so the healthier air fry statement is another throw away comment.
Update: Air fryers are basically a fancy name for a mini fan assisted oven! After a few more weeks use, I am loving the use of my mini fan assisted oven!
Turn on, set cooking style (roast, air dry, pizza) adjust default time/temp if needed – press start. 90 seconds later oven beeps as preheat finished put your food in. Results are excellent. Have done pizza, baked bread and cakes, air fried chips (which come out golden and exceedingly crispy) cooked stews in a large lecreuset casserole and marvelled at the results. So impressed have bought a second one for the caravan.
I’ve had this oven for a few months now. Once I got used to all of its functions, I absolutely love it. I hardly use my main oven now. The big down side and the reason I only gave it 4 stars is cleaning it. It gets splashed with grease and it looked really dirty even though I kept wiping it down after use. I used some oven cleaner and really wished I hadn’t, it looks a mess. My fault entirely but I couldn’t stand having a dirty looking oven. Please shark sort this issue out with the cleaning issue, it’s a fantastic product and this lets it down.
This is my second ninja product and won’t be my last. With this and the grill I never use my main cooker. These are fast, efficient and cook perfectly every time.
We have a gas fired AGA in our kitchen which costs a fortune to run and we can’t breathe in the kitchen with the heat it gives off during the summer. My wife doesn’t want to get rid of it so we’ve compromised by switching it off in the warmer months of the year and we’re now using this oven and the smaller one they do for cooking our meals and so far I’m loving it. It heats up in 90 seconds and is so easy to use. Haven’t tried all the different features yet but I’m really pleased with it and no-one else in the house is complaining about having to use it.
The body was very hot when in use, they should improve on how to make it cool.
I assume this product is one of the best investment I have ever made for the kitchen.
It has multiple features, easy to use, compact design and also cost-effective.
The only thing is it’s a bit difficult to clean it up.
Brilliant! I don’t use my main oven anymore. I normally cook my roast joint/chicken etc in slow cooker first & then pop it in oven to crisp up. Not only can I crisp up in just 30 mins (half the time of normal oven). It saves electricity used. As only 2 mins to heat up instead of the usual 15mins of normal oven. I would recommend as it will fit a large size chicken or a big roast joint of pork/beef/lamb etc.
It does pizza in 10 mins too.
Ordered this for my mother, she is obsessed with ninja gadgets. She absolutely loves it, and now doesn’t use her oven in the kitchen at all.
Thought I had maybe been dragged in by the hype about this oven, but gosh I’m glad I’ve bought it. My very very elderly parents love it….. and they don’t like much at all!!!! but the instructions seem to be giving my Mum new confidence with cooking!!! It actually grills cheese on toast, unlike my expensive built in oven. It cooks chilled (ready) meals so much quicker from the supermarket as it doesnt need so long to heat up. I absolutely love anything even my 84/85 year old mother loves to cook with. So far, Pizzas, pies, baked potatoes are all great. chilled meals heated up are great. I havent tried everything yet in terms of function, but so far, nothing has disappointed us, and we might well buy another.
Unfortunately I paid more for postage and packaging than actual price of oven and still arrived damaged!
Being on a kitchen top it is so easy and convenient to use. It saves us having to bend down to the electric cooker that we have, which is now being replaced with an induction hob. It gets hot – naturally – but doesn’t overly radiate heat. Mention has been made of the difficulty in cleaning it – we use ordinary Cream Cleaner, no problem.
I bought the oven as there is now only myself and my wife to cook for and it seemed very wasteful to to use our large main oven to cook small items. I’ve now had the oven for three weeks and have not used my main oven once.
The first thing to note is that the oven is very fast, this is in part due to the fact that it gets to temperature in about 1.5 mins. I cooked a cottage pie using the same settings as my main oven and found that it cooked in half the time. I’ve found that I get the same results as my main oven by dropping the temperature by 20*C and reducing the cooking time by 15 mins. It gives superb results baking bread and cakes.
I have not noticed any problems in cleaning the oven, from the start I lined the base with PTFE oven liner and got a couple of small 4 cm deep roasting tins and this seems to contain the mess.
The oven is very easy to use, it has various preset functions for baking, grilling etc. I have tended to use my own settings rather than the presets as I feel it gives me more control.
Overall this is a brilliant oven, just keep an eye on it the first few times you use it so you don’t get caught out by the speed of cooking.
Fantastic oven does what it says and is easy to use. Caution when using as the casing can get very hot. The back of the oven is not that easy to clean and the removable crumb/ collect plate is also not that easy to clean and keep looking nice.
All in all we are very please with is having had so many problems with the Sage oven which was unreliable and to be replaced twice.
This is a good size oven and cooks to perfection.
Recommend.5*
hankyou for this great oven, has iam disable i can not use the main oven has i can not bend down, i have made lovely cakes again , thankyou so much and the ninja foodi is 100% and will recomand this to all .
