I love this breadmaker – so easy to use and everything I have made so far has turned out great!
I wish it had more recipes in the instruction book and also that the display panel was bigger and lit up but having said that I am so pleased with it so far that I have awarded 5 stars.

We’ve used several manufacturer’s bread makers, but Panasonic are consistently excellent, and this machine is no exception, beating many other more expensive machines. It also has a smaller footprint and is lighter than my Morphy Richards Fastbake. The extensive range of recipes includes gluten-free, brioche, some cakes and jams, as well as French and Italian style loaves and several speciality breads including my favourite rye. Most of the bread programmes also feature a timer-delay function, so you can set it in the evening and wake up to fresh bread in the morning.

There is a basic recipe collection in the manual, which is supplied as hard-copy with the breadmaker, fewer of them than with an older model of Panasonic breadmaker. It is also available online in quite a few languages on the Panasonic website. The machine does work with many other bread recipes from other sources as well as a range of packeted bread mixes.

For some reason, our first rye loaf didn’t mix well, but I’m going to put that down to our error.

It’s important to note that with the Panasonic machines one adds the dry ingredients to the pan first, unlike the majority of others where you add the wet ingredients first, although this has dispensers for yeast and other try ingredients, which it adds when needed.

The downside on the consistency of results is that cooking times are often longer because the machine rests the ingredients whilst it optimises the conditions. It’s well insulated, aiding not just the consistency but also means that the machine is quieter than all the others that I’ve used and the outside doesn’t get hot to the touch.

The lid is opaque, again aiding insulation, but this means you can’t look inside as it’s working. You really mustn’t be tempted to peek inside once it has started unless you want to risk ruining your loaf. There are handy tabs on the left hand side of the side of the lid so that it is easy to open, both as the main lid and the extra-ingredients lid.

This machine will make full rye bread but it is still very dense. Mixing 30%-50% of white or wholemeal flour into the rye will give you a softer consistency. We made a rye and spelt loaf, which worked really well.

When you use the breadmaker to just make a dough, the results are again excellent.

Loaves come out quite tall and you can make a medium, large or extra-large loaf, there is no small loaf setting but we found that the medium loaf was suitable when we wanted a small loaf.

    Just what you knead!🍞🥖

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is the 4th Bread Maker I’ve had in the last 8 years. It is easily the best. It is also the most expensive. I chose a Panasonic because they are regularly rated as Best Buys by Which Magazine, although this model, the SD-YR2540, has not as yet been reviewed by Which. The price quoted by Amazon was the best i could find, being 40 less than the recommended retail price. I took the trouble to ascertain, in advance, with Panasonic UK that spare parts are readily available for this machine. They are, and I ordered a spare bread pan and kneading blade from Panasonic. These are yet to arrive. 11th Jan spare bread pan arrived.
The first loaf I baked was the standard white. It was fantastic, easily the best texture and taste of any white loaf i have baked in a machine in the last 8 years. I have subsequently baked another 2 loaves, to test the various functions of this machine. I’ve not had chance to taste them as yet, but the loaves looked really good with a uniform colour all over and a good shape. I’m sure they will taste good.
This machine is very quiet when kneading the dough, unlike the 3 machines I had previously. Also it did not creep around the work surface when kneading, unlike 2 of my past machines.
The instruction and recipe book is very detailed, giving the times of each process occurring during the bread making cycle. It is so much better than manuals I have referred to in the past. This makes using the machine very easy.
As yet I haven’t found any downsides apart from the high purchase costs of the machine itself and the spare bread pan and kneading blade. However this the top of the range Panasonic bread maker comes complete with all the bells and whistles. I suspect there will be some functions that I rarely / never use, but it willl be useful to have those options available to me. The build quality looks to be excellent and spares are readily available. This machine should have a lifespan of much longer than the average 2 years 8 months of my previous 3 machines. in which case it will justify the extra cost. So far I am extremely pleased.

Panasonic bread makers are the best by far it arrived yesterday and got down to make some bread i really like the yeast dispenser as it keeps the yeast away from the sugar and salt till the appropriate time, and you put the water in last, not not the norm is usually the other way around, but needless to say the bread came out beautifully..Nice one panasonic.. This machine fits easily onto my work top and is super easy to use. The bread tastes great and the crust is just right, I have only used the dark and medium crusts but both were excellent. Having a separate yeast dispenser is a boon as it gets added at the right time, I haven’t tried the nut/ seed/fruit dispenser yet but can’t imagine it will present any problems. The control panel is a bit of a problem as it does not have a very good light and I had trouble finding where it indicated the size of the loaf, but having )

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my second breadmaker. The first having been retired several years ago.

This really is a fire and forget machine, with very useful features like an automated delivery hopper for things like seeds etc. and am automated yeast hopper.

To add to this, the fact that you can set a timer so that your bread will be ready at exactly the time specified makes this my perfect machine.

It should be noted however… It’s huuuuuge

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use my breadmaker a lot but have noticed with the hotter summers that the bread’s rise hasn’t been as reliable.

I chose this because because of the temperature sensors and it hasn’t let me down so far, although we haven’t done a summer yet.

The bread is amazing. We have only made our daily wholemeal and a couple of fruit loaves, but the texture is the best I have had from a breadmaker and it’s so quiet as it works overnight.

It has so far been worth every penny for us.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Userssmart looking, well put together, and makes good loaves.
buttons are a bit fiddley at first, but this machine does perform well. i have the breville ,also pricey,
but that has a better control panel, and cooks along with the best of them. i bought this model to replace it while i service it. i have made 2 loafs so far, and both are better than the breville. the breville takes 3 hours
and this one takes 4 hours. even on the number 1 setting ,which is basic white setting, i threw our normal 70-30 mix of granary and white in there and it cooked a treat. so yes all round. i would have prefered a zojirushi, but cant get a uk model. ps. just bought a zojirushi anyway, so will get back later with test results. but this panasonic continues to bake well.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy first machine was bought in the 1990’s when all you could get was Panasonic. I have tried other cheaper machines but they do not last as long and the bread is not so good. I have advised everyone to only buy Panasonic. My whole family use this make. My old one is still making decent bread but not quite so good as before. It is 15 years old so not bad! My other Panasonic died in the third world because of electricity problems and I had not fitted a regulator. BUY PANASONIC it is the best.

I have an old model of Panasonic breadmaker and have been using it for many years. After trying this one, I would say Panasonic is made a great improvement on their breadmaker in terms of the design and programmes.
In term of its outlook, the breadmaker has a matt greyish silver body and black colour lid. A very stylish look and the colour is easily fit to most kitchen. The basket has a nice, smooth and even coated lining.
Different from my old model which the basket has a vertical design, this one is horizontal which the finished bread has a regular loaf shape instead of a tall, narrow shape. This is really nice because the shape of the bread is better after slicing.
It came with two different kneading blades designed for kneading different types of breads. All the essential accessories like the measuring cup, measuring spoon etc. It also came with a manual and recipes book.
The basket and the nut tray is not dishwasher safe so it needs to be hand washed with water and little detergent, wipe it with damp cloth or air dry.
The capacity of this breadmaker is quite large, it can make large loaf with 473g strong flour. It is easy to follow the recipe provided. The preheat function set in the program can help to bring the ingredients (i.e. butter) to room temperature, so they don’t need to be taken out from the fridge in advance.
The machine when running is really quiet and the bread loafs are nice and soft.
Overall, it is a great breadmaker. Save me a lot of time and energy, yet still able to enjoy a lovely, healthy homemade bread.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI like baking bread although I am very much an amateur. I enjoyed making bread by hand until chronic illness meant that I found it impossible to knead dough. I have been using a food mixer to make the dough but then I was offered this bread maker.
There are a lot of different programmes on this brrad machine. You can choose the type of bread- white or wholegrain, with optional nuts or seeds. You can also choose the size of your loaf as well as the type of crust that you would like. There are also other types of bread that you can choose, sourdough, raisin bread, brioche and Italian bread to name a few. You can also make jam in it.
The machine is very simple to use. The instructions tell you the amount of flour, water, yeast etc that you need. You put them in the machine in the order that it suggests. The yeast goes in a separate compartment and is automatically added.
You then programme the machine with the recipe number and choose the size and crust of your bread.
Initially I didn’t think that the machine was working. The display was lit up with the recipe that I had programmed it with but it was so quiet. It was over 5 minutes before it made a noise briefly.it wasn’t very loud and I would not have heard it if I wasn’t in the same room as the bread machine. It made the odd noise here and there, but is very quiet.
A basic white loaf takes about 4 hours in total. When the programme is finished it beeps and you have to remove the basket straight away. This is one drawback as you have to be there to take it out as soon as it has finally cooking. Although you can set a timer you still need to be there to take it out straight away.
I mentioned earlier that I uses to enjoy making bread by hand until I became unable to do so. This machine has programmes that mix, knead and prove the dough. You then take it out to shape it and give it a second prove before putting it in the oven. This is the perfect compromise for me, as the machine does all of the physical work and then I get to shape it I have always been reluctant to get a bread machine as I thought that it would take away my fun. It has made it easier for me to bake more though.
The bread itself comes out rectangular in shape. It is a bit irregular on the top, so not the neatest. The bread gets stuck on the mixing blade and you have to pull it off. The Bread is left with a cut in the bottom of it from the blade. This means that the crust on that end has a tear in it.
Every loaf that I have made looks rustic and has a cut from the blade. I’m not concerned with the aesthetics, personally. I like the convenience of not having to go to the shops to buy fresh bread. I also love the taste of freshly baked bread. This has a lovely taste and texture.
The removable components, such as the blades and basket are easy to fit and clean. You also get measuring spoons too. One issue that I personally have though is that I am short at 150cm/5 foot tall. I struggled to put the ingredients in the top of the basket and also remove the baked bread as this machine is tall. If you are not very tall then this might be something to consider. I have to stand on a foot stool to use it.
Overall this is an excellent product with an extensive range of recipes. I am very impressed with it.

    Very good range of recipes

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe temperature sensor no longer worked in my previous Panasonic Breadmaker so the results were unpredictable. Bought this while it was on offer and I am pleased with it. This is my third Panasonic Breadmaker and I have always found them to be excellent.

I have my own recipe for making bread which I have tweaked and perfected over the years. I had to experiment and change the ingredient amounts a bit for this machine to get it right but once I had it correct the bread it produces is light and well risen.

I notice that the amounts in the recipes in the manual have changed from the previous machines. Sugar content in particular has increased from 1 teaspoons to 1 tablespoons. I spoke to Panasonic about this and they assured me the amount was correct and that it was due to customer request. I tried reducing the sugar back to the amounts in previous recipes and it made no noticeable difference to the success of the bread except the crust colour was lighter.

The new shape of the bread maker is more ascetically pleasing and takes up less room on the worktop but the machine is still big. If space is limited this may not be the machine for you. One improvement over previous Panasonic models is the audible beep once the bread is ready is louder whereas before it was so low it was easily missed.

I recommend this machine. There is nothing like the smell and taste of freshly baked bread. Also own baked bread is free of all the additives present in shop bought bread.

I ordered this Bread Maker as I am Gluten intolerant and the Gluten range is not only basic but also very expensive.

Very well packaged in branded box, everything individually bag and carefully separated by cardboard deviders.

Smart sleek design, very compact and modern which looks a great feature on Kitchen work top.

The bread maker is amazing it does everything, just add mix of ingredients to tub and insert yeast into separate dispenser and add water. Leave it to the magic of this bread maker and you end up with crusty and fluffy bread made to perfection everytime.

The Bread maker not only bakes the bread it completes all the kneading of the dough and fermentation of mix.

There are 32 auto programs, 4 of which for Gluten free. You can make Gluten free bread, cake, pizza dough and pasta. The instructions provided are excellent and idiot proof, just use correct mix and set to setting required and you are a Master Chef.

Overall, I love my bread maker. Gluten free bread and cakes are to die for, you also have the pride and satisfaction of what you achieve. Nothing match’s the smell and taste of warm freshly baked bread, I only wish the bread maker could slice my bread as well.

    I would recommend this product.

As per the subject, this is my first time ever using a bread maker and I was BLOWN away by the results.
When the nation was plunged into lockdown, everyone turned to home fitness and baking their own bread. Banana bread, rasin bread all sorts. I avoided it because unlike cooking, I just suck at baking. Getting the consistencies right, right texture, amount of reading resting and all that is too much for me. I can cook any dish with relative ease, but baking cripples me by the thought of it.

This was then a product I thought would solve that as I do want to make my own pizza’s and also bread.
It arrived as a behemoth of a box but with no wasted packaging as it was a parcel sticker over the shrink wrap as opposed to being in yet another Amazon box, thank god for that.

Unboxing you’ll find this beautiful modern looking and sleek unit that resembles a big shredder, with a gorgeous gloss finish and curved edges to finish it off. With it came the pan used for baking with a non-stick coating and metal handle, like a bucket that clipped in place and a plastic measuring jug, very tiny measuring spoon for what I guess is yeast, a pink measuring spoon for salt, sugar etc which can measure Tblsp and Tsp as well as halfs and quarters with the lines marked on them. Lastly the paddles used for the bread mixing.

After a quick wash and ingredient shop, I was able to follow the recipe for the Plain white bread mix.
In the tin add water, flour, salt, butter and sugar measured based on the loaf size M, L or XL recipe. Then close the lid and then press the clip to lift the 2nd lid and add the required yeast in the small black yeast srop pot. It’s recommended using Easy Bake Yeast not the Dry active that requires pre-mixing with water to activate and also strong bread flour as opposed to normal baking flour.

After that, turn the device on, use the first 2 buttons (up and down) to select the function for the bread to be baked then use the left of the 2nd button to select loaf size (I learnt this after!) it’ll show M L or XL on the screen. Then use the 2nd of the right to select the crust thickness showing different bread pics depending on your crust requirements.

Timing can be ignored here, click start and then let it do it’s thing. At first I was confused as nothing happened, but after looking at the screen it did indeed count down in minutes so left it to it.

By my understanding of the book, the machine will automatically mix the dough, add the yeast when required, mix again, let it proof, then bake it. This mode takes 4 hours total but a fast option was available for 2 hours which I assume just proofs for less time.

After 4 hours of working I came to check and could smell something great, opened it to find the loaf of bread as above. Used oven mits to slide it out and checked the bottom to make sure the paddle wasn’t stuck in it. After letting it cool we went to cut it and were blown away with how soft and fluffy the bread was with such a nice crust.

I think we managed to devour at least 2 slices on it’s own followed by some toasties with nothing left.

I simply cannot express how nice it is to taste such fresh bread but cooked with such ease. No neading, nothing. Just stick it in and go on your way. This machine is a life changer as I can always make my bread whenever I need it.

    Let’s talk functions though.
This can make various different breads all with the included recipes,
    Gluten free options
Dough options such as Pizza dough or even the bread dough itself.
As well as sweet options too.

The top has a nut dispenser which will drop nuts down into the mix if you wanted a raisin or fruit mix /seeded bread too.

This machine just does so much that it’ll pay itself off in the amount of fresh bed you can make.

I think one of the greatest features is some recipes (that don’t contain milk/eggs) can be set to a timer option where you throw in the ingredients in the mix and then set the time you want the bread for and go on your way. You could set this at night then sleep and wake to fresh warm bread in the morning if you wanted!

For those on the fence for a breadmaker, I highly recommend taking the plunge and getting this. It’s so quiet that I barely even realised when in the kitchen it was working.

    5* 10* product!

First time making bread and blown away by the ease!

This bread maker was the kitchen gadget I never knew I needed! I often spend 2-3 on fresh bread at my local bakery but not any more! The bread maker comes with accessories such as a measuring cup and tsp/tbsp measurer, it also contains an instructional booklet which provides various recipes that vary in difficult and are not limited to just bread (the machine can also make pizza dough, jams, and cakes).

I was a little worried to start with that all the buttons/options would mean it would be difficult to use, but after reading the booklet and measuring out the ingredients it was just a case of placing them in the bread tin, pressing a couple of buttons and the machine does the rest! 4 hours later an incredible loaf of bread.

We started off following the included recipes but have now ventured out to make up our own adding additional ingredients such as a recently baked cheddar and jalapeo loaf, which the machine never fails to bake to perfection.

The machine has different size options for each recipe meaning you can bake a loaf as big or small as you wish.

Whilst the product is on the pricier side it certainly has the build quality and features to match. If you’re likely to use a bread maker frequently and want lots of choice for what to male I would highly recommend considering this as an option.

If this review was at all useful please mark it as ‘helpful’.

This is an advanced bread machine — and I’ve found that bread machines are among the few kitchen gadgets that really live up to their promise. Even on days when your home-made bread doesn’t come out quite perfect, it is still likely to be better than anything you can get from a supermarket or from most local bakers, with no additives or preservatives.

Once you have this big, shiny-black machine unpacked, it is worth going through the detailed instruction book, which tells you how to use all the functions, how to choose the right programme for the sort of bread you want, and how to get your bread-making started. It is a pity that the one instruction book covers three different machine models, so you must take care to read the wording that applies to your machine. As well as the machine, you also get some measures for ingredients, so the only other utensil you will need is a soft plastic spatula. It is always worth briefly flipping up the lid near the end of the kneading period, checking that all the dough has been taken up, and gently scraping down the sides of the pan if necessary.

There are 32 programmes (oddly referred to as menus in the instructions) to choose from, including white, whole meal and rye bread, sourdoughs, gluten-free, brioche, dough for shaping and oven-baking, dough for pizzas. These programmes are the way you make a large range of recipes, which are concisely set out in the book, listing exactly what ingredients you need, and what choices you can make for size of loaf and crust darkness. It is essential to have an accurate kitchen scale — a digital one. I always put the empty machine pan on the scales, then zeroise, and weigh in ingredients in turn, zeroising again after each one.

Unlike most bread machines, the Panasonic instructs you to put in the dry ingredients first, and the water last. Yeast goes in a little dispenser in the lid and the machine adds it at the right moment. Nearly all the bread programmes include a rest period before any mixing starts, while ingredients get warmed up, so most breads are going to take something between three-and-a-half and five hours, and most people will be able to make no more than one loaf per day. The control panel shows how much time remains, and what your settings are. I wish it were illuminated, but it is just a plain, unlit LCD panel.

As well as the supplied recipes, you can also use recipes from the many bread machine books that are available, as long as you put the liquid ingredients in after the dry ones. I’ve been using bread machines for several years, and can always find something new to try.

The whole Panasonic machine appears well-made, is reassuringly heavy, and ought to give years of lovely home-made breads. My results so far have been great.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUnfortunately it comes with broken box. But inside everything was fine so most important all works.

On the beginning I found few cons for me are:
    – no cleaning brush, would be nice to have one especially to clean little holes for attachment
    – length of cord cable, could be way longer
    – bread attachments, metal trays or something similar to leave bread after baking to cool down.
Little things, most people have them anyway at home. But would be good to get them for that price.

All others are pros. Great for anyone, newbie or advanced people. I never have bread machine before in my life. So I was first timers, completely newbie. First I made dough and didn’t read proper recipe from instruction and forgot to add yeast. So they didn’t go up. I didn’t give up and makes second ones with all ingredients and now they as a first time dough looks nice and taste great. Made healthy burgers with them. Nothing better as fresh baked. Made few sweets, tasted great also. Instruction is clear and easy to follow. Machine by itself is simple, plenty of programmes to choose between. Cleaning is easy also if followed by instruction.

When not in use it huge to hide somewhere, so need to be sure to check measurement before buying. It’s not heavy, lighter then I was expecting. Best time to make bread is leave it overnight, there is delay function so You can have fresh baked bread at Your own home after getting out of bed. Nothing better like fresh own bread with some butter and jam in the morning.

Price, it is not cheap. But I didn’t even would expect to be cheap. It need be pricey. For myself price is reasonable I would even expect more for it around 300-400, for all option, function and possibility what it gives.

I’m highly recommending these bread machine.

    Great bread machine

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe best thing since sliced bread! Well, almost as this lovely bread maker doesn’t slice the bread but it does make an excellent loaf.

I have only used this bread maker twice so far and expect it to be used quite a lot as I learn more about it. Both times were to bake simple loaves of bread, once on the fast, basic setting and once on the slower basic setting.

The first loaf I baked in this machine is usually a little tricky to get right as it involves using a little known East African spicy grain. If too much of the grain is used the taste is overpowering and is not pleasant at all and toll little means it doesn’t give the long aftertaste that it gives so well. So, I made the first loaf as the more difficult one to see how well this can perform. I used a good strong white flour and didn’t add any wholewheat flour as I normally would. Next I added the grain to the flour and poured water around the edge of the bread pan. After closing the lower lid I then filled the yeast compartment with a good dried yeast. I then started the machine on the first setting, to produce a basic loaf. Only after around 10 minutes into the “rest” stage did I realise that I hadn’t added any salt or sugar. The salt helps the dough rise and the sugar helps feed the yeast. So, I decided I didn’t want to risk stopping the process to add the salt and sugar and left it to go through the whole process. After four hours I removed the baked bread and was very surprised at how soft it was. It was like branded bread and turned out well considering I forgot to add the salt and sugar.

The second use was to make a different type of loaf. It was once again a basic one and I baked it on setting two, for a fats bake that takes only two hours. That second loaf was an apricot and sultana loaf. I chopped the apricots and added the sultanas whole. The process was the same but I remembered to add the salt and sugar this time. Two hours later and I had some nice, hot, fresh apricot and sultana bread to tuck into.

This machine produces a perfect crust with a lovely fluffy centre.

The next thing I will try with this machine will be to have freshly baked bread for when I wake up. The machine has a 13 hour timer so one simply prepares the ingredients and sets the timer. To set the timer is a little different in that of setting an alarm clock as there is no clock involved. One simply works out the difference in time between the now and that of what time he / she will wake up in the morning. The bread will then go through the process slowly through the night to have fesh baked and piping hot bread ready to go with the hot tea coffee that has been poured with a tea / coffee machine that also has a timer built in.

There is one other thing I like about this machine and that is the fact that one doesn’t have to use it for baking a loaf, it can be used to prepare dough as well so it’s p[erfect for baking batches in the main oven. One simply makes enough dough for the number and size of loaves one requires and / or the number of bread buns and then bakes them in a batch in the oven. It can also prepare more specialised doughs such as croisants etc.

Now for the one negative that I found, both times. It might just be me and how I have poured the water or something similar but the two loaves baked so far have not been shaped well. The tops of the loaves have been full pan size over about 80% of the surface but then suddenly reduced to about 2/3 thickness over the other 20%. I don’t think it’s the machine so I will take more care when adding the ingredients to the bread pan and remember this cannot be treated in the same way my mixer is, where I can simply throw everything in and it will always work out.

This bread making machine is going to take a little time to work out what it can and can’t do but so far it has impressed me. There are numerous settings / options available so I will get my favourite ones eventually.

Overall, this bread maker saves a lot of hassle and a lot of mess in the kitchen, it is very good quality, built well, perfors well and produces a great loaf. It is good value and I am therefore recommending this.

Makes great bread, as soft as shop bough

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOkay, this is a Panasonic appliance, a brand that has a good reputation generally, and especially for breadmakers. In spite of this, and in spite of being more expensive than many others, I was a touch sceptical, having never had much success with breadmakers previously. Aside from the occasional so-so, the results have mostly been like building blocks — just about edible, but not a very pleasant result. As a result, we have (two!) breadmakers gathering dust, that we don’t use.

To this one then. Wow, what an absolutely amazing machine, and so, so different. Yes, it is very well-made, with lots of features and settings for various types of bread etc; but what counts is how well it, er, makes bread! Well, it does make bread well, with knobs on! We have NEVER had results like this before. The bread comes out just like a loaf from the bakers.

The machine is very, very quiet in operation, and doesn’t move from its stationary position. It really is superb. Unlike normal breadmakers, this has ingredient dispensers, which we suspect contributes to the results, everything being added in the right amounts, at the right time. The case gets quite hot in use, but that is largely to be expected, and there are absolutely no negatives or niggles with this. It is amazing.

Overall, this is superb, It doesn’t matter how much you might save buying a cheaper breadmaker, if it doesn’t work that well. I can honestly say this is worth every penny (if you want absolutely superb bread, as opposed to so-so at best!) Thoroughly recommended. We absolutely love this.

I hope this has been helpful.

Super Quiet, Super Quality, Super Bread

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve always wanted to try out a bread maker so once I got this opportunity I jumped at it. Now I can cook dinners etc but baking I usually leave to my daughter. As she has moved out we haven’t had any baking done so as soon as this arrived I read the instructions and headed to my closest supermarket.

My first try was Irish brown bread mix. As it’s been two years since I’ve been to Ireland to see my family I was looking forward to trying this. I’ll say I wasn’t disappointed at all. It was very nice and even the next morning I finished it off with butter and jam.

The next thing I tried was white bread and that was a success too. A few slices was left and I wrapped it in tin foil and enjoyed it just as much the next day.

I then decided to make a cake. Well the laughs I got from my partner and kids.. I wasn’t impressed. Well they had to eat their words or should I say cake as this was another success. I made a madeira cake and it was yummy.

I have a feeling this is going to be the most used gadget in our house.

I will say I have only used packets that you just add water but I’ve a feeling I may get a bit more adventurous later on.

The instructions are very easy to follow and washing it is a breeze.

I’m absolutely delighted with this bread making machine.

    Absolutely loving this bread machine

Update: have now done pizza dough, fruit loaf and a 5 seeded loaf and I am really impressed with them all. Only thing they could have improved is that it has 32 different number settings and it’s really annoying that you have to just keep repeatedly pressing the up button to get to number 25 on the pizza setting, you press it 25 times it will be so much easier if on the display it had numbers and you could just punch in two and a five, with 32 settings you would think that they would made it a little bit more easier as there is enough room on the display panel for a number pad.
I have been using a bread machine for about 5 years now, saw this one come up for reviewing so was intrigued as to what it did more than my current one for the big price tag of 230. It is quite a lot bigger than my current one, taller and longer, but the loaf size is the same, this machine is taller as it has a separate compartment inbuilt into the lid which added the nuts or yeast after the main contents have been mixed together, this compartment drop system makes the machine look taller. It does have a huge selection of setting which is great. My current bread machine takes 1hr 30minutes on the pizza setting, this one only takes 45minutes, however it did not rise the dough anywhere near as high as my other machine, this would be due to the much shorter rising time and heat. It produced firmer pizzas, still delicious but surprising how different the pizza can taste when the ingredients used were exactly the same just mixed for a different period of time in different machines.
Used the delayed timer function last night, delayed the start by 10hours and woke up to the smell of fresh baked bread and we all enjoyed fruit loaf for breakfast, so lovely and fluffy. Very impressed, my last machine did not have the delayed timer function. The machine is also so much quieter than mine old one, only thing that’s quite noisy is the x3 load clicks when it releases the yeast slip, then it goes back to a quiet hum of the machine. Also really impressed that the blade didn’t get stuck in the bread, I have always had to prize it out the bottom leaving a big hole, this tipped out leaving minimal marks in the bottom of the loaf and the blade stayed in the tin. Only given it 4 stars as i do still think it’s pricey at 230

So many setting options compared to most others - super pizzas and fruit loaf 😋

I have been wanting a bread maker for ages and ages. Was pretty excited to try this out. It came in a gigantic box but luckily it’s nowhere near as big as the box!

In terms of size and worktop space you’ll need: it’s 28cm deep by 40cm wide approximately. (You could probably get away with 39 mcm but you’ll need to have it in an area that has a 10 cm gap around the entire machine when it’s baking in any case.) It’s also 39 cm tall. Again, if you’re ever trying to use it under a cupboard, you won’t be able to open the lid at that height. You’ll need an extra 20cm-25cm to be able to open it. For me that works great as I can put it to the back of my work top when I am not using it and simply pull it forward when I am. I have a standard size kitchen work top.

The machine itself looks really good. It is a bit complicated when you first get it and I did have to read the instructions. Not something I usually do if I’m honest!!

For the first time trying this out I went very basic and stuck with the basic bread recipe menu number 1! You need to take the bread basket out of the machine and fill it with the ingredients that are listed in the booklet (in the same order listed). That means you pop a little bit of yeast in the top round drawer in the lid of the machine and the remaining ingredients, like flour butter sugar salt and water, go in in the main bread basket. Then all you really need to do is turn it on and menu number one comes up anyhow so you just press start! I did click on the size button to check it was the right size as there are three different sizes you can go for. I tried out medium to start with. (There is no small! It starts a medium and they were three sizes.)

The basic bread recipe takes four hours to bake and gives you a countdown as to when it’s ready. When it started it didn’t do anything and was in rest mode. That’s a bit disconcerting when you’ve never used it before as I just thought it wasn’t going to work! It takes a full 30 mins to begin this pre set menu as it’s warming the ingredients to room temperature before it mixes. You can also skip this by selecting the rapid menu instead. You can also add raisins or other ingredients like nuts and things to the bread via the lid. It does mean you need to change the recipe a bit if you’re using extra things, which the basic recipe doesn’t account for, so I preferred to follow a specific recipe and preset menu to make sure I got it right! The delay works well too – but of mental maths involved but that’s the only hard part.

When it begins to mix? It’s quite quiet. However, it does make a loud clicking noise (three times!) when it’s dispensing the yeast. Not really a problem for me but if you’re putting this on at night and you have a delay and then forget about it, it could wake you up or give someone a scare if you are close enough to the kitchen to hear it!

The results- absolutely without a doubt brilliant! As nice as any bread I’ve tried and the texture, even bake, crust and look are all fab. The hole at the bottom from the blade is also not that big a deal. (I’ve also never had the blade get stuck in the bread yet)

I whole heartedly recommend this bread maker. A revelation in bread making (and we usually make our own from scratch wwithout a maker) so I’m completely sold!

A few pics of recent bread. The smallest size loaf for bresd (M) feed my family of 5 perfectly for a meal. Lovely sandwiches or perfect toast. So happy with it.

    So good!
