The unit itself is great quality. Thickness of material is good, heavy weight and seems well galvanised. I checked similar posts used by other car parking spots around mine and I think this post is better. It’s cheaper too. It’s industrial in look and feel but that’s fine by me. I dug the hole before I purchased the unit.
I was quoted a lot of money to supply and install something like this.
I had a fold down post that came installed on the parking space when we bought it. I took my socket set to remove this but in the end I just pulled it up from the ground and it came free easier than most weeds.
Installation. I’m moving it forward a bit so it can be raised once the car is parked as a sort of anti theft. Where I live parking is at a premium as land is so expensive. Some cheeky so and so parking in our space is more likely than the car being nicked, by a long way.
I’m dealing with a tarmac surface of maybe 30 years.
Stuff. Post. 2 bags of post crete. 1 bag 20mm gravel. Some crap weed suppression matting, stuff that rots after a year.
Tools. On hand, bought nothing new. 4 foot wrecking bar, garden trowel, tamperer, 100 cm ruler, buckets, watering can, level. Small trowel.
Dug the hole by getting trough 10 inch’s of crumbling tarmac and then sub base using the wrecking bar. Carried on with the bar to mash up the earth and eventually settled on a 90cm deep hole. I had to lay on the ground and extend my whole arm to remove the waste soil etc.
it didn’t take long and I went careful using the trowel just to look in case a pipe or some such appeared.
I packed in half a bag of gravel with the tamperer, raising the hole to 75cm or so.
The end of the unit that rests on the gravel is open except for the stability bar that goes across. I was going to just chuck some weed suppression matting on top of the gravel but decided to tape a strip of it across the bottom of the unit instead. It’s crap stuff that rots in a year.
I offered up the unit a d used some flints I found whilst digging to place around the unit to maintain level and plumb. Poured in one bag of post crete. Water and poked it with a bamboo cane to ensure no air pockets. Second half bag straight in to fill. Watered and shaped surface with a trowel.
Happy with the job. Upon reflection I wish I’d made it slightly more proud of the surface. I went for about 5 mm proud. I wish I’d used ready mixed concrete instead of post crete as I could play with the concrete more to make a surface finish. Although the darker finish of post crete goes well with the crumbling tarmac look.
The private car park is located on the highest point in the area. The soil I dug through under the surface looked as if it had not seen moisture since before it had been built. Maybe I could have got an away with digging less deep and not using the gravel.
I saved myself a couple of hundred quid buying and installing this. I had all the tools already and resisted the temptation to buy a post digging tool.
I prefer this units circle design as opposed to the rectangular ones.
Solid unit. Easy to install, looks good imo and well priced.
    Very happy. Tyvm.

Dug a deep and big enough hole. Using post mix job done. Very secure but hole fills with water. Short term no problem but long term, water and metal do not mix well. Fingers crossed for the quality of the galvanizing.

Never thought I would need one but after having my car stolen I wanted one.

No instructions but simple to work out, I found using a fencing auger worked best for digging the hole for it and then some postcrete to fix it in place.

I would recommend you can get to the required depth before ordering!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shouldn’t need but great!

Well worth the money to give visual peace of mind to deter someone from trying to steal my precious VW T6 as they did with my father in law’s caravan. Posts go at least a meter into the ground so the weak point is going to be an angle grinder to the locks. Hoping the noise of that is a deterrent in itself.

Solid and relatively easy to install. No instructions but competent builder had no problems.
Instructions for a layman would be welcome.
Check the lock is in the package

Product delivered next day. Heavy duty but a little shabby in areas such as grinding marks here and there and silver spray on some areas which makes me question the galvanising on the ground sleeve. It’s not designed for a beauty contest however so i can forgive that due to the heft of the thing which is where it counts.

Little tip, there are no instructions with this but if you look at the way the bollard is mounted in the sleeve you will note how it can be removed. Remove it and mount the ground sleeve into the ground on its own and level it. Now you can remove and drainage aggregate from inside the tube that may prevent the bollard dropping down . If you try and install with the bollard in place the aggregate could collect in the bottom of the tube and prevent the bollard dropping after you have set in concrete, then your stuffed.

This bollard was easy to install and looks very strong and sturdy and an obvious deterrent. The included padlock looks a little less sturdy but seems to do the job

Good solid post. Very easy to install. Padlock pretty cheap but can’t fault the post. Easy to put up and down, my wife manages it with no hassle
