Good but expensive system. I also use TAPO bulbs which work very well. Support for older Hue Products is hit and miss and needs you to use a third party app to see the older lights first.
Bought these whilst on a special deal, great units, they just work, easy to set up and control via the hub, really happy with my purchase.
Great features with hue bridge, would of been nice if they included motion detector in this bundle .
Relatively easy to install, however I could understand how so many people have issues installing them. I felt the brightness wasn’t as bright, as it could have been but I still like them. The colours lovely go well with any scene you want to create. Next step is to get the sync box to have them work with my TV.
I got the hue bridge but it doesn’t link to my Philips TV ambient light – you STILL need to buy a sync box… Seems like an unnecessary amount of add ons. Lights work like any other cheaper brand works without any bridge
Recently brought the Philips hue sync box, gradient lightstrip, and 2 light bars. Needs the bridge to make everything work.
Very nice effect with the ceiling light as l don’t have spotlights in the ceiling. Very happy with purchase.
These lights are amazing, created a new obsession much to my wife’s annoyance although she is beginning to see the light. Will eventually upgrade most of the house but will take my time as if they’re not on offer they are quite pricey.
Good but expensive. New hue bridge wouldn’t sink with my older hue lights so had to download specific software to my laptop. Now set up works well especially with the various hue apps (hue disco, hueloween etc)
Having been sceptical as to whether we’d ever use the colour changing, these are absolutely brilliant. Whole family loves them and the ability to dim and set to a schedule is great.
They works well and the colour change is nice. Obviously not as bright as other non smart bulb so you need to know what you want in your room. The app also works flawlessly.
The only problem I had was with the Alexa skill, it couldn’t connect to my echo and couldn’t figure out why. You need to make sure that your account on meethue.com is linked to your bridge. Also check that the bridge can connect online by making sure that all the lights are switch on and blue.
Truely the best smart light system, the amount of products you can add to your collection is really impressive
They work well with my Google Home Hub. I can turn on/off, control brightness, colour etc easily by voice. I also have ‘routines’ set up in Google Assistant to automatically do things at certain times (such as dim the lights and change the colour tone in the evening to help me prepare for a good night’s sleep).
Great product and reasonably easy to set up. Only negative is that it is really pricey and extra bulbs are expensive.
Must have for any smart home! The Phillips Hue lights were easy to install and the lights are great quality. Just plug your hug into your router and turn it on and run through the installation with the Hue app.
We set schedules for our lights to come on at various times making it look like someone is at home when we are out. Also great to be able to call out to Siri to switch them on or off on specific rooms or zones.
I think it’s all been said before, but do read lots of reviews (the positive ones) and you’ll get all the help and info you’ll need.
Firstly, do use the Hue app to set them up (this will ensure trouble free set up). Next, if required, integrate with Alexa or Google home (I use Google Home and connection was so easy and seamless). That’s it really. You really will want to buy the remote wall switch though otherwise you’ll have to use the phone app or keep asking Google/Alexa.
Great idea for elderly too.
Bit of a novelty really but there are times and uses that these come in handy (once you’ve spent the entire day talking to your lights)
Excellent and will be buying more.easily transferred my data from old bridge to new using the old hue app.
Hue Lighting adds a new dimension to the home. My lights are now switched automatically using sensors or saying Hey Siri – it works very well.
Easy to set up and use and updates easy to, works with Siri on home pod
Easy to setup and very good product that enables endless light settings.
It doesn’t have motion detection? (Hence the one star) but I bought during the Black Friday sales, 70% off can’t go wrong!
The Bulbs needed to be updated on arrival to beable to use properly which took some time but I got there in the end. Lights have turned off a few times suddenly but other than that they have been great. The light effects are great the amount of colours is limitless. We have set a couple of scenes and are very happy.
Use it to keep the lights on timer when we’re out during the day or away for longer periods. Being able to use 3rd party apps just completes this, as I used it when I had family over during Christmas to make the lights dance. Great vibrancy and brightness.
A little tricky to get used to when using Alexa commands but app works grea
Love the Philips Hue eco system, I’ve built up on this now with motion sensors and switches all easy to install and work with Google and Echo.
Reluctantly bought into the whole home automation nonsense with Alexa devices, and the Philips Hue ecosystem. Replaced perfectly good bulbs with these, set up and configured the hub, added the devices via the app, and then added Alexa control via the app. It took probably 10 minutes tops, and that includes all the downloads and online signup stuff. I was quite impressed.
The colours are fantastic, the various whites and brightnesses a welcome bonus, and so easy to control through voice commands via Alexa, or through the Alexa app.
At full price, this bundle is an absolute rip off (and is my one main gripe with the ecosystem). At the discounted price of around 60, to me this offers excellent value and is something I can recommend wholeheartedly if, like me, you were sat on the fence about home automation. We’ve since bought more of the richer colour bulbs and several smart plugs and devices (again, only at the discounted prices), so it certainly wasn’t an isolated impulse purchase we regret.
One other gripe to Philips: Make some UK shaped light switches for goodness sake! You would absolutely clean up!
Great variety of colours to choose from , easy to install. Be aware that when it comes to update software it does take a long time, sometimes even an hou
Love the new way to manage home lights, bought more and even got a big table light. Love all colour, what a fantastic experience.
Having tried some other brands, my opinion is that these are the best available. They are responsive and the colours great. They aren’t cheap though so don’t ever buy them outside of an offer. I would love to see the bulbs offered in bulk packs
Very easy to set up and use. I control mine through an Amazon Dot and iPhone and haven’t had any issues so far. Although Im still trying to get into the habit of keeping away from the light switch!
Some of the third party apps are great too – particularly the ones that can turn any room into a colourful disco!
These are a must for any smart home!
Got at a great deal and love the lights. Very responsive.
Bit expensive but my Halloween party was a hit using the lightning effect.
I had been unconvinced of the worth of having these fancy lights having seen them in action at a friends house but having finally taken the plunge I can say my hesitation in purchasing really wasn’t warranted as these really do add a nice touch to the household. We originally had them setup in our livingroom but after much begging our kids now have them installed in their bedrooms. Although not cheap we will definitely order other bulbs in time for our other areas of the home.
If I was nitpicking I would have liked a black option with the hub as i’m a bit ocd when matching my other kit but on the whole very happy.
I waited and waited thinking I’ll buy cheaper and it’s a true saying Buy cheap Buy twice.. I tried various similar bulbs sold here on Amazon and they worked for a while then just stopped. These are amazing and okay a tad pricey but if you want an amazing atmosphere then these bad boys are for you… I was so impressed I’ve went and purchased the Philips Led 2m strip and a 1m extension which im about to buy more of to extend it down the stairs as a night light. I also recommend Philips Sensor for triggering and lights u need it for.. I placed it outside the bedroom door and it triggers off nicely illuminating these bulbs and the led strips ..
Another addition to my hue family making the whole home by compatible now. Also works with Yale alarm which is cool
I wonder what I was doing with my life before I got these bulbs. They are great, just great. No other bulbs can compare, the ones that offer the ‘same’ for less money… well, they don’t compare – at all.
Great starter set when on offer. Eay to fit etc. The only problem is i now want to do all the lights!!
These are very nice but pretty expensive for what they are. Good points are that when you’re away (on holiday) you can time then to come on randomly which is a nice feature. they also interact with the nest carbon sensor so they will flash red if an alarm goes off.
Quite expensive but they are built well and have some great features.
I have them set up to work with my alarm to wake me up more natural in the morning.
They also have some great scenes for different times. You can have them dimmed for the evening just before going to bed so not to keep you awake. The opposite can be done as well, it can be set to “energize” to wake you up.
I have it set up to work with my Google Home so they can be controlled by my our voice. Occsinally the don’t connect properly but that is quite rare.
Great lights, but you need all of the Phillips accessories to get them to work properly. Seems like a bit of a con tbh – very much like Apple products.
No instruction for full set up. might be ok for some but for a first timer and not being a modern techno phobe, it is not easy to find what other items are needed, ie an APP from Apple that is only compatible to IOS 10 and abovr on i pds. Also not every one has an i phone! The full instruction are on-line hedden behind a mass of adverts and how good everything is.
I’ve never liked proprietary hub systems and thus Hue and the like even though I use (only) Philips LEDs throughout the house. I like to use WiFi bulbs that can be flashed with 3-rd party open-source firmware (e.g. Tasmota, Espurna, EspEasy, etc.) to be controlled by open-source hubs (e.g. Home Assistant, OpenHAB, etc.) – unfortunately there are few options out there (e.g. Sonoff B1) that are not cheap.
The Hue is easy to install and use and the bulbs were paired already; hub had to be updated a few times and the bulbs also – somehow all had very old firmware.
The app works well and does not need Internet access talks directly to the hub over LAN – a big plus! It is up to you whether you want an on-line account and want to control your lights over the Internet. Hub can easily be connected to Home Assistant (or others) and bulbs get (auto) detected easily. Very easy – compared to Wifi bulbs.
These are the 3rd-gen “richer colours” bulbs with 806lm (@4000K though) and proper “green” etc. colours. But compared to my old Philips (master) LEDs they are plasticky, light and cheap looking – if you did not know they were Philips & bought from Amazon you’d think they are knock-offs. Considering the cost they’re poorly made.
There don’t seem to be any bulbs more powerful than ~800lm (and thus about 60W equivalent) while we’ve had good quality dimmable Philips 1500lm (thus about 100W) for a while; not sure what Philips is doing – surely a more powerful bulb – even if much bigger – can be made.
You can also pair the bulbs with ZigBee adapters and not use the hub (e.g. ConBee, RaspBee, standard USB Zigbee, etc.) but you cannot update the firmware so you need to keep the hub; although Philips seems to update the firmware sparingly.
The colour bulbs are crazily expensive but the white-only bulbs are OK but the accessories are similarly expensive; not to mention that the switches/dimmers don’t fit UK/EU (square) mounts requiring further 3-rd party adapters. While “hue friends” are bringing some new switches out they are not here yet.
All in all it is a nice easy to deploy system but ultimately very expensive and disappointing in some ways. Unfortunately competitors are perhaps either cheap/worse or more expensive thus difficult to choose…
Nice and easy to install, easy to connect to Alexa and the Hue app. Work as expected. Good selection of colours.
Mate.. never have to get out of bed as im dozing off… happy days
Works well with my BT Router easy to install and simple to add new devices as u go along
Plugged the hub into my Apple router, followed the prompts on the hue app on my iPhone and it was all up and running within 10 mins.
Went to the Apple HomeKit app and everything was just there, faultless and so simple.
Got this on a ‘deal of the day’. It’s a great addition to the modern home. So easy to set up – I had it up and running with Apple Homekit in a couple of minutes
