Hygienic Humidification up to 600 ml/hNanoCloud technology uses a natural and hygienic evaporation process to ensure superior performance up to 600 ml/h. Once the water is evaporated, the water mist becomes invisible and the smaller molecules are less able to carry bacteria into the air. Our laboratory testing confirms that NanoCloud technology spreads 99% less bacteria than leading ultrasonic humidifiers. It also prevents wet spots and white dust. | AeraSense TechnologyBenchmarked against a professional-grade sensor, Philips AeraSense technology is highly effective in sensing even the slightest change in indoor air conditions. It continuously monitors the air and automatically adjusts the fan speed when it detects a change in particles. | Reduces Bacteria and VirusesOptimised purification function effectively detects and reduces bacteria and viruses, such as H1N1 (influenza), for cleaner air and a healthier home. | 2 Usage ScenariosSwitch between 2-in-1 and Purifier Only modes at the touch of a button. I suffer from mould allergies to the point where I couldn’t sleep at night due to chest tightness and wheezing. didn’t want to go and take inhalers and this thing worked beautifully. Within a few hours, my condition improved significantly. It is effective, quick, does not consume a lot of energy and hasn’t requested a filter change for over 5 months now (might be due ina month) and I use it about 12 hours per day.
I still experience allergies (as I have my whole life) but it is much much better. Definitely worth the cost.
Takes odurs from pets away and keeps air fresh and clean no more blocked nose so it’s great for me
If you want to reduce dust and pollution in the air of a reasonably large room this does the trick very well. Be aware of the ongoing costs though, with the main filter being replaced every 2-3 months for 30 or so. If those filters were half the price I’d give it 5 stars.
But, as said, it is a great filter. The jack of all trades, master of none, Dyson units cannot compare.
Just don’t buy it through Amazon seller ‘saving gizmo’. Their customer service is woefully ignorant of your consumer rights.
It is still too early to draw conclusions, but looks promising. Consumes the full tank of water a day to bring humidity to 60%.
Cleans and purifies the air, reminds us a bit of a mountain smell.
My wife developed sinus problems and allergies She had all the hospital tests but didn’t help as we had moved into a wooded area. After some research Dyson was slated and this Phillips had great reviews. It’s brilliant and although not cheap it’s well made and humidifies by blending filtering the water before it blown into the room. The allergens are filtering the air. Works with smart phone through bluetooth and has night mode that you can’t hear and you can turn the display off 10/10
I like controlling the machine using app. App sometimes stops working without any apparent reasons but I can reset it always. So, no problems. It is working very well. Humidifier is great in dry winter months. I think machine is very quiet.
It worth of money. I felt dried when i got up on the morning but when I used this one it has improved a lot. Humidity level in my house is balance.
Having read all of the reviews that were written about the Philips 3000i air purifier/humidifier. The reviews were mainly positive about the unit by itself, most people criticised the ‘Air Matters’ app.
After carrying out much research on combi air purifiers, only 2 others stood out, those where:
1. Dyson PH01 combi humidifier air/purifier at 599. The reviews that I read about the Dyson model was that this unit also had a terrible app, it was far over-priced and people often referred to this model {Philips 3000i) as being both a better unit and better value for money.
2. The 2nd unit was a sharp UA-HD110UL Air purifier/humidifier at 335. Technically this unit was comparable with the Philips3000i and it featured a unique ‘Plasmacluster ion generator’ technology that produces negative and positive ions that neutralise viruses and odours. apart from this feature, its specification was comparable with the pricier Philip 3000i.
This matches downfall for was that it had no remote and couldn’t be configured as a smart device apart from that it offers the best value for your money.
I have a home that is run by smart technology systems, when I noticed that the Philips 3000i was Alexa enabled this would mean that my existing controls and sensor could control it via Alexa or Smartthings. This aspect of it being controlled by 3rd party control reassured me that this was my best choice even if the app turned out to be poor.
Connecting the app can only be successful when standing next to your router. Once connected the app and its functions are fine, the unit might disconnect again when placed in an area that has poor wifi, you may need to think of fitting a wifi range extender in the cases where your unit isn’t near your router.
The app had a 7-day timer that was easy to configure, very accurate in-built sensors for measuring air quality and humidity and a filter change count down indicator. The apps features couldn’t be improved upon in my opinion, possibly a firmware update from Phillips could address the weak wi-fi receiver? This might not be an app fault?
Filters consist of:
1. Humidification wick — FY3435/30 — Around 33 -Run time 4730 hours
2. NanoProtect HEPA filter – FY3433/10 – 4730 hours — around 50
3. Active carbon filter — KY2420/30 – 4730 hours — around 32
Since my original purchase for my office, I have bought another one for my bedroom.
I would highly recommend this unit.

I would highly recommend this unit.
Very happy with my purchase.
Easy to set up, use and maintain.
Some people have had problems connecting to the app – I connected at the first attempt and have had no problems at all in using it.
Highly recommended.
Bigger than I expected but is very silent in the sleep mode. Easy to assemble and easy to use through the app.
I’m in LOVE with this purifier! My hay fever improved drastically and the humidifier tank is big enough that I only top it up every couple of days if not more. A lot of comments about how you need to replace filters every 300 hours. Actually, you just need to clean (rinse) one of the filter panels every 300hours of use. The actual filter you need to replace only need replacing every 4700 hours!
This product is honestly the best thing I’ve bought in the last few months. We have a new baby, and he had a cold in the first 2 weeks he was born. I then bought this purifier and since then neither the baby nor anyone in the family has fallen ill.
It actually works. I regularly clean the filter and it traps so much dust. The machine itself looks stylish and modern, and doesn’t really take up much space. The sleep design with the light fits well with any decor – we have it in our living room and it just blends in.
You can control it via the app. I usually set it to auto and leave it on that. I have timed it to turn on at a specific time in the morning and to turn off at night. When it does come on in the morning it goes straight to the highest setting to filter the air which has been in the room all night. Also, when someone walks into the room, or if you spray perfume and enter etc, the machine detects it and turns on high to filter this out. It’s actually brilliant!
If you’re thinking of getting a purifier, I would definitely recommend this one. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get this sooner, and I have recommended all my family and friends to buy this too.
It has made a huge difference in our flat. Extremely sensitive, it reacts in seconds to a change in air quality. Our flat no longer feels stuffy or oppressing when it’s cold and windows are closed. It was always a little too dry due to central heating and now it’s just comfortable, the humidifier works great too.
The best part is that my partner is a light smoker and I smoke occasionally, seing the numbers race up when a cigarette is lit has been a shock and a revelation. We are quitting!
I would definitely recommend the investment. Well worth it despite my initial reservation.
The machine was working quietly and low running cost on electricity. It gave good indication when pollution was going up. So far, it had done it’s job well.
The purifier totally relieved my partner’ allergies of his allergies, as we have carpet flooring. The humidifier was super useful because we both suffer from minor eczema. Made our one bedroom flat smells better and the air feel much cleaner and crispier. Also good for our daily cooking as the house can feel smoky, and the purifies does it’s job well. Worth the money. Big bonus: it is a good looking machine
Easy to operate and maintain manually ( I have not opted for WiFi App mode). Located in our kitchen diner, it’s quite quiet in normal mode and reassuringly boosts up the fan rate when allergens rise and gradually reduces over time as the filters kick in. A worthwhile investment to reduce triggers that cause my asthma and hay fever. Very pleased.
Its a very good product. I cant fault what’s been written in other reviews but it does seem very expensive. I’m not sure whether it would be more cost effective to buy separate humidifier and purifiers. We bought a couple of humidifiers for other rooms that seem effective but not as high quality as this (you have to replace the water more often with cheaper humidifiers and you can clearly see the mist stream which I cant with this one). Its super quiet and sturdy.
I noticed a great improvement within hours. Purchased to enable me to sleep comfortably (without wheezing) in an old property under renovation. Filters needed a good clean within a few weeks- hopefully they won’t need too be replaced too soon! Nice looking (and sounding ) machine. Reasonably easy to use I had to refer to the handbook a few times at teh start until I could remember how to turn down lights or put on sleep mode etc.
Never knew air purifier was a necessity for us. We live on the ground floor and can’t keep windows open all the time. This air purifier has turned out to be a blessing as my child gets stuffy nose quite often due to dust allergy. It was effective from the first night and he has sound sleep. One can feel the before and after difference in the air quality and I wish I had got this before.
Like other reviewers I would say the ap is beyond crap, keeps disconnecting, although it us quite useful when connected as it gives you the ease to control it remotely. It doesn’t bother me much though as the control panel at its top has all the functions. They must lower the price though!
Top tip for winter season is to use it a bit away from your bed to avoid cold air, but it is essential as it captures mould spores as well (Use allergen or bacteria and virus mode) – It is not a bacteria or virus eliminator but rather captures its particles and reduces its effect in air.
Highly recommend it for people who need fresher air especially in the winter season when its too cold to open a window!
Great device which can purify and humidify air, can connect to wi-fi and can show the quality of air in your room and gives you the ability to control it remotely. Very good quality of air, no allergens in the air. Good for spring allergies. Removes dust and pollen in the air! Must have!
I’m writing about this product because I genuinely feel this is a game changer. I suffer from allergies such as hay fever and also dust. My body thinks dust is pollen and they are the same thing when I don’t have hay fever I have hot air heating that can initially blow out dust and make it circulate around my home, and my house is pretty dust free as I’m clean freak.
This product does what it says on the tin. It’s not cheap to buy and the filters are a little pricy but I don’t get streaming eyes sore throats anymore.
I do have a career as Cabin crew. When my hay-fever is at its worst all I want is to be in an air condoned room or on a plane at 40’000 ft away from the pollen.
I have a two bedroom house on two floors I have one in my hallway upstairs and one in my living room. Within 30 mins I notice a huge difference.
You need to think about how big your property is to get the best benefits.
You need to think about the size of your property and is it on one floor or two. If on two levels I’d buy two of these air purifiers.
I pop it on for maybe 2 hours a day max.
It has the energy efficiency sticker on it so I believe it should not cost the earth to run.
Ergonomically it’s fairly attractive and looks good in a modern home it’s not small be aware, but that’s good as the bigger the machine I think it’s far more affective.
Like I mentioned earlier I travel the world it connects to your Wi-Fi so you can control on your smart phone even graphs so you can monitor the air quality . When the air quality goes down it sends me a text message when it’s off anywhere around the world so just like a hive central heating unit you can just switch it on remotely.
The fab thing is when I land back in the Uk I can turn it on remotely from my phone and 30 mins later when I’m home the air is clean and I’m not sneezing. In fact it’s so affective the first week you may still sneeze as your body adjusts to clean air.
It took a couple of attempts to set up Wi-Fi you hover the Bony part of your thumb and finger on it very gently and it will all work I was a bit forceful you just rest your finger and thumb on it no need to press down hard.
This product has changed my quality of life hugely if life is miserable with hay fever this really will make a huge difference. The senses on the device will on accessions decide the best way to clean the air in your room it changes colour as it sets the alternate clean / climate environment mode, buy it it will change your life. I’m off nasal sprays, antihistamines now.
Hope this post helps. X
Although this arrives seemingly fully assembled, you need to remove the filters, unwrap them and then refit. Easy to do and then you are ready to switch on.
There is an app you can download for full control but you can also manually do so without using it. I found it easy to download and pair the purifier, then having access to information about air quality.
It is interesting to watch the purifier in action, particularly the light at the front, which gives a visual display of air qualiy, showing mostly blue but turning magenta whenever one of the cats gets too close. Perhaps it just doesn’t like cats, but I suspect it is picking up something shaken from fur.
I like the fact that this is boxed with cardboard padding rather than plastic or polystyrene, which means you can recycle the vast majority of the packaging.
Overall, I found this made a difference to the air quality in my room, making it fresher and more vibrant. Pollen is much reduced, so I find huge relief from hay fever symptoms whilst this is running. It can be left on constantly and is mainly just a background hum that you can barely hear, other than when it ramps up the fans when it detects something that needs to be addressed. I think it is great and particularly useful during hay fever season.
I got this because ‘Which’ recommended it. I suffer from allergies and am just generally sensitive to all things related to breathing – smells, dust, humidity levels and so on
I have a much less expensive yet highly rated air purifier but it is no comparison to this Philips 2 in 1 machine
As soon as I switched it on I could feel a HUGE difference in the air quality – the air felt ‘clean’ and fresh like I was at the seaside.
The auto sensors are great constantly modifying the fan to deal with impurities.
The humidifier is excellent
The fan is very quiet and on sleep mode you can barely hear it
It’s easy to set up and works great from the app – although keep in mind you can swicth off ‘notifications’ in your phone settings for this device or you will get a message every 10 minutes telling you the machine has detected a change in the air – which is useless information really
Overall – I am thrilled with this machine because having a clear head is worth every penny
If you can afford it – get it – I’m glad I got the purifier/humidifier rather than just a purifier
and keep in mind this thing is HUGE – it’s not the sort of thing you will carry up and down the stairs – it’s the size of a very large cabin bag
Slightly overpriced for a fan with filter.
Humidifier function rarely used but would come handy in the winter.
Noise level is acceptable – low level white noise….
Not sure about the wi-fi feature as I think it does not add value – attractive only in the description.
Bought this purifier/humidifier about a month ago, genuinely love it.
It cleans the dust particles out of the room pretty quickly.
Weve had it around the house and it has helped my wife with her allergies, especially now were in summer. I have noticed with the humidifer as well that my eyes aren’t as dry any more.
Night mode is really good, it is unnoticeable and easy to sleep with on.
Expensive, but reasonable compared to similar products, based on research and the which review I was sold.
The air matters app is good, you can pay a subscription for less than 1 a year to remove adverts, but tbh I haven’t noticed any adverts anyway.
Only downside is when I move it upstairs or downstairs I have to pair it with the phone again because of our wife repeater, but it takes about a minute.
It has instantly solved the problem of disturbed nights due to pollen and allergens in the air. We need to point out that the filters were not all wrapped. It appeared to have been used but this has not affected it’s working.
This is an excellent product which really does make a difference to the air quality in my house and has alleviated my hay fever symptoms massively. Any one who suffers from allergies knows how difficult it is to cope during the summer months. This Air Purifier really does make the difference. It is easy to set up and the automatic mode is excellent as it senses changes to the air quality and adjusts the power accordingly. The air feels crisper within a hour of the Purifier being on. The app is easy to set up and connect and from there it is smooth sailing with the automatic mode. This is an expensive product but does offer value for money as it leads to a better quality of life for allergy sufferers.
This is a fantastic purifier and humidifier and would definitely recommend it. It was easy to get going and I’ve mainly left it on ‘Auto’ and 50% humidity (recommended for most homes) with it purring away in the corner keeping the air clean.
The two things that let it down are:
1. The app (Air Matters) can be slow to connect and update, especially when away from home. I had to reset and reinstall after it lost connection at least once.
2. No timer to turn it off and on with a preset schedule, which I think might save energy. Only a ‘sleep’ timer which you must start manually.
Overall these don’t detract from a great air purifier from Philips.
All good about this unit EXCEPT that the humidification wick gets very mildewy and smells very bad no matter how closely I follow the instructions to soak it and wash it every week. It just does not work. It can operate without the wick as just an air purifier (but then you do not have to pay this much for the set) or you have to keep buying new wicks which is about 24.
Makes a big difference in my moldy, dusty rental house. I have really bad allergies, and this has made a huge difference in my bedroom. It’s quiet. I wish it had a fully dark mode, though. Even in the ‘dark’ mode, it still emits a blue light.
Firstly, before giving feedback on the product, I would say to anyone considering an air purifier that it is worth it. I used purifiers for a while now, but this is the first one I have used with an air quality sensor. The air quality in my house without this on is 5x worse than outside! The amount of pm2.5 that is in the air indoors is crazy…
It is very easy to unbox and put together this purifier. The filters inside the machine come packaged in sealed plastic, so must be removed before turning on – this is as simple as sliding off the front cover of the machine and the filters are there. Nothing fiddly.
The machine plugs in and starts up straight away. No setup required to get it to function without WiFi. All good so far (save for Amazon delivery not knocking on my door, but leaving this on the street in the product box for everyone to see an expensive item to steal).
There is a mild smell to start with, but nothing offensive or long lasting. The carbon filter does quite a good job of eliminating smells, especially oil from cooking.
Regarding the fan speeds, there are 5 options. Silent is what I use at night in the bedroom, which cannot be heard. Of course, the effectiveness of the machine is not great when the fan is spinning so slowly, but it is better than not being on at all. The regular speeds are 1/2/3, which seem to be very similar. Turbo mode is a huge jump and sounds like a hairdryer. The machine is very effective at removing the pollutants in Turbo mode, as can be seen on the real-time air quality feedback.
It would be great to see some speeds inbetween 3 and Turbo, similar to the Dyson pure with 10 speed settings. Since the machine does not oscillate, a strong airflow is required to circulate the air – 3 does not do this well enough and Turbo is too noisy. When switching to Turbo mode, you can see that the air is circulated better, and dirty air drawn in, as the air quality rating shows an increase in pollutants immediately after the speed-up.
It would also be nice to set some direction to the clean air outlet. The air inlets are long, thin and on either side, so I expect do a good job of drawing in air from various directions. The air outlet however is on the rear and points upwards. It would be nice to angle this, as I have the unit in the corner of the partly obstructed by another piece of furniture.
The thing that really bugs me for a high price air purifier is the App. I have heard similar issue for the Dyson App too, so would not necessarily make a decision on this point, it is just disappointing as the WiFi control is one of the features you are paying a lot for. The App design is quite clear, with easy to read layout. Connecting the unit to the App is a nightmare. I work in technology, and have everything in my house as a “smart” device. This is the most un-user friendly setup I have experienced personally and professionally. It took me almost an hour just to get it connected.
You have to set your WiFi so that there is a separate 2.4GHz channel – by default my BT router has a 2.4GHz and 5GHz dynamic connection to allow for devices to connect to either, but because my phone connects to 5GHz channel, I had to change from dynamic to separate channels, which required learning how to change router setup. When changing to a distinct dual channel router setup, a lot of devices got kicked off the network and needed to be provided with a new password and reconnected.
During the connection process, the App “guides” you on what to do. However, some steps just don’t work first time and need to be tried multiple times. This is even more frustrating since the App doesn’t give progress status, so you just sit whilst the App says “please wait” and hope that it works. Sometimes, after a few minutes, it says “connection failed” and provides only one option labelled “connect manually”. Pressing “connect manually” does nothing but take you back to start the exact same process again.
After finally getting connected to WiFi network, the App can be used to control the fan speed settings, set an auto mode, adjust the brightness of the lights on the unit, and turn on/off the unit. This works okay if your phone/tablet is connected to the same WiFi network as the device. If you are using the App over mobile network, I would say it works probably 10% of the time. The majority of the time it says the device is not connected. Some of the time it says the device is connected, but any change to settings doesn’t seem to actually apply to your device – the app just freezes. I sent the log files and contacted the support team, whose only suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall the app (note I had only just installed it as I was setting it up).
The App is supposed to also record and display hourly data for the air quality reading of your device. This seems to work okay on my Android device, but in iOS devices it just doesn’t load in the App. Only the spinning “loading” icon.
Comparing the performance of purification against other purifiers, this is significantly better. I have compared to both the Bionaire and Levoit units I have, and measured the results using the air quality sensor. I ran the Philips unit for 2 hours in a 20 square metre room – the pm2.5 rating reduced to 1 particle per cubic metre. Comparing against the Bionaire and Levoit purifiers, even when left running ALL DAY LONG, they produced a reading of no lower than 15 particles per cubic metre.
This effectiveness is what redeems the Philips unit for me – the App and WiFi connection may be difficult and unreliable, but the purification power is immense.
The other thing that let me down with the Philips unit was that the Philips website explicitly said you could set a SCHEDULE using the App. You cannot set a schedule, you can only in fact set a timer. So you cannot say turn on at 6am and turn off at 9am. You can only turn it on manually and set a timer for 3 hours. The only thing that redeems this for me is the fact that the device turns on when the socket is turned on – I have this connected to a WiFi plug, which is on a timer. When the WiFi plug turns on, the purifier turns on with the same settings as when last turned off.
Edit on 30 July 2019:
I bought a second one of these in Prime Day sale and I must say the issues with the setup and app have been ironed out. Leaving my original review unchanged as I cannot tell whether the setup is working better because I already have one device setup on the app.
Edit on 07 April 2020:
A few more things to add that I have noticed after living with the units for a couple of years now. Everything is still going strong, no rattles, no shakes, no squeaks. I have just added an AC0820 unit to my home office space, and I must say that whilst it doesn’t have as many features as these bigger 2000 series units, it seems just as good quality and is so quiet!
One thing I noticed when reading reviews of AC0820 before purchasing, is that some people are complaining it is made of plastic. I have actually found the total plastic build of all the units to be a big benefit in keeping them clean. I have a very muddy dog (the kind of one you see in the videos online where they look like a swamp monster climbing out of a mudpit) and he brushes past, or shakes next to, these units on a daily basis. The plastic build means that a little wipe down with some kitchen or bathroom cleaner returns them to looking like new. I imagine the same thing would apply to children who like to express themselves with paint and crayons.
I have had to replace the main filter once since buying the units. This is despite two people who work from home and a dog making dust to be sucked up 24.7. Yes, the replacement filters are expensive, but when I had a brand new one next to the one that reached the end of its life, it was like night and day. So I am confident that the particles are getting sucked up and staying trapped.
This is my second one as a replacement of dyson air purifier. The reason why I like it much more than dyson is two reasons:
1. The sleep mode much quite than dyson! No any disturb of your sleeping
2. This one is 2 in 1 purifier and humidifier. When you have heyfever and your nose and mouth both feel dry. So now with this I no longer need a sole humidifier. Save lot space!

My daughter was suffering with hay fever this very dry summer of 2018 that is why I purchased the purifier. It is so quiet my daughter could now have a good nights sleep as the pollen was cleared from her bed room. It really works well.
Very quite have it on all day don’t use a lot of electric
I love this! Have it in my bedroom. It’s smart, with a small footprint. I run it at night (it’s practically silent on night mode) and when tidying my room or changing the bedding – as this brings on a runny nose and sneezing due to a dust allergy.
Been using it for a few weeks now. I have one in my lounge too. I think these must be working as when I’m out and about or at other houses, my hay fever symptoms are worse than when at home. Also, they make the air feel kind of crisp and clean – can’t say how and why but it does, which is a nice experience for home.
Fully recommend!
There are two cons on this product 1) it is expensive and 2) it is large and heavy especially when full of water.
The pros outweigh those two cons by miles. I have been using it in sleep mode in my bedroom for a week and no longer wake up snoring or unable to breathe. I have not had to take anti-histamines in that time either, although this is a high pollen period of time. The sleep mode is totally silent. If you want this to run quietly then the fan speed on the two other programmes can be adjusted down to 1. If you want a fan to cool you or white noise to drown out noise nuisance then speeds 2, 3 and turbo will all do that job. I have discovered also that most of the pollutants are household sprays and personal toiletries, which is very useful to know.
A purifier that I’ve been waiting for for a long time. I definitely recommend it. Much better then dyson products and way cheaper. My plan is to replace dyson humidifier in my other room next month or so. App work just fine, no nasty fog from humidifier like dyson is making and air nice and clean on top of that. 3.5 liter tank seems to be big enough. Worth every penny.
