How to Use
The Bonsai Trio Kit provides detailed instructions on how to plant the seeds, for them to grow to their full potential. It includes 6 growing pots, peat blocks and plant markers.
Soak the peat disc and squeeze out excess water before placing into the peat pots. Sprinkle a few seeds in each pot – there will be enough seeds for multiple sowing.
How to Use
Keep the soil moist but not wet, just enough for small particles of soil stick to your finger tip. Otherwise, seeds may begin rot before they begin to germinate. Bonsai trees thrive in well-drained soil, Water when the soil appears dry and do not allow the soil to become completely dry.
How to Use
Each plant will need exposure to sunlight to grow. The concentrated vitamin D within sunlight is a nutrient needed to promote quick growth.
How to Use
Growing seeds should be an extremely enjoyable experience. As part of the experience, ensure your trees are well maintained. Snip off any branches with narrow angles which are seemingly trying to grow straight.

A lovely gift set with some quirky vegetables. It is hard to comment on ease of growth as it will depend mainly on planting the seeds at the right time of the year and looking after them. As with all seeds, if the conditions are not favorable then the seeds may fail to germinate. Planting them in March-April in the UK would be ideal. If you can keep them on a south facing widow sill then they should stand a really good chance. Just be sure to pot them up once they have become established and have a healthy root system. Hopefully this could be used to get kids into growing veggies as the “funky” element makes it fun. A touch expensive, but can probably be justified by the uniqueness of the item. Would also make a great secret santa present, birthday gift or perhaps for mothers/fathers day.
Exactly as described. Smaller than i thought it would be, but still happy.
I have purchased this as a gift for someone else. The box was squashed slightly in transit, but this doesn’t affect the contents inside the box. Hopefully they will find it easy to grow the plants. There are seeds for 3 plants. The contents look good so hopefully the gift will be well received.
I bought this as a present and the person loved i
I bought these as I had success with them about 4/5 years ago and wanted to grow some more plants from seed. The seeds seem to be of good quality as is the soil but I don’t ever remember having the faff of putting them in the bags like this time!! Just make the bags bigger! If I had my own bags knocking around I would have but I was very surprised at how much I had to pretty much mutilate and morph the pots into a shape that barely squeezes into the bags (see photo)
Not holding much hope on these sprouting! Will see though and will update depending on success!
If I can update pic I will next year but so far so good
I cant anwer this question as it is an Xmas prese
My son loves these so he will be over the moo
Got this as a gift for my boyfriend who has always wanted to grow a bonsai tree. He was very excited to plant it. Instructions were clear and it came all in a neat little package. Perfect gif
Great gift, easy and clear instructions. I’m just not very good at keeping plants alive. Fingers crossed it makes i
Bought as a gift for someone who would like to start growing plants and veggies. Great starter.
Bought this as a gift for my dad and the veg was amazing!!
Bought this for my elderly father who always wanted to do it, and he loves i
I bought this as a gift for an avid gardener. She loves them as they are a new challenge that will evolve over time. She has a small garden so absolutely perfect. Also a unique gift. She loved it and still loves it and as long as they are alive she will always remember who gave them to her.
This was a gift and was appreciated greatly. It is a hobby that has to be tended to every day so is a good thing to buy. Lasts a long time if tended well.
I bought this for my mums birthday as she enjoys plants. When I ordered I knew that there wasn’t a pot included but for an extra few pounds they could have added a pot as now we need to find one. Other than that it was a good product and came with everything we needed. (Apart from the pot)
I bought this as a gift, which was good for the person I got it for, a gardener!
This was gifted to me last year, but chose the wrong time to plant them and they didn’t grow.
I bought this one to finally get it right. Will post again when they start to grow!
Bought as a gift for my daughter to grow veg in the garden. Good range of slightly different veg, hoping for a taste once they have grown! Box slightly smaller than I was expecting, but plenty of seeds.
An opportunity to grow some real, tasty, tomatoes, rather than the flavourless supermarket offerings. Good mix of varieties. All have germinated, little seedlings now popping up in the greenhouse. Fingers crossed for some sunshine to help these beauties along!
Bought as a present for my dad. I didn’t realise how work goes into to growing one. A lot of time and afford goes into i
Mountain pines are going strong I kept them in pitch black about 18c and as soon as atleast 2 sprouted per cup, i placed them next to window, one seed packet was empty but s.h I’m happy with the pines, red maples are in cold stratification in the fridge, fingers crossed.
These were ordered as part of my brothers birthday gifts he’s always wanted a Bonsai and I thought it would be more interesting and rewarding for him to grow his own having read the mixed reviews I decided I’d just take a chance on this kit so glad I did it was so rewarding seeing every one of the little pots with shoots in all doing well so far the instructions were admittedly a little confusing to start with as none of us are really good at gardening Im surprised we actually got anything to grow in the first place
patients required, so dont know if will be good, suspect lots will forget about i
Great gift for any gardener. Fast delivery with prime. Happy.
The box was smaller than expected, but overall very good purchase
I didnt grow it personally but a decent gift to give anyone
I bought this as a gift, it was smaller than it looked on the website, but I hope that it all turns out alrigh
Loved the product and in theory! Much harder to grow than first thought, but I think this may be due to my own growing conditions. Either way, great fun and well worth the money!
When this product arrived it came in a small box. I love bonsai trees as they’re easy to take care of, and I’m not good with maintaining house plants. The tree is still going strong.
Wrong time to plant so as I sent them as a gift the receiver will wait. Thank you.
Not easy to grow these got to pay more attention, follow instruction and follow them. Would of been better if you just buy them already grown. If you like to see them grow and make yourself buy and your are a fun of looking after them and got time for it than this is fine. Mine didnt grow.
Great present. I didn’t grow this personally but I’ve seen it and it’s definitely growing
Great present. I didn’t grow this personally but I’ve seen it and it’s definitely growing
I bought these back in November for a relative for Xmas. Waited til now to review to see how they did. Absolutely brilliant! All seeds grew, the plants were good and strong and they are harvesting loads of fabulous tomatoes!!! Great value as different varieties not easily obtained except from a specialist and a real thrill for a new gardener!
Very pleased with this product. Everything you need to create your own Bonzai trees.
Planted all of the seeds in may, some should be done different times of the year but just wanted to try grow them. It’s been 1-2 months and here’s my update… courgettes are doing the best, so big, 3/5 survived! Tomato’s have grown wild! Carrots look not as good but growing slowly and the rest have died (but it does say the best time to start growing) instructions easy, good as a gift (but I got for myself as something to do)
I got this as a gift for my dad for fathers day – he loved it.
Was a present for mum who loves house plant but never had a bonsai and gave her something different to keep occupied at the moment. She loved it but can’t comment on the growth as project not yet started
Bought this as a gift at Christmas time, for someone who loves gardening and growing vegetables.
Thought it was a really cool gift, and they have just recently shown me the different “funky” veg tomatoes they have grown and they seem really impressed.
Would recommend this as a gift to someone who is into gardening.
I have had this product for nearly a month and it came quickly, all the details you need to grow bonzai trees, there are three different plants, maple, birch and pine. The pine has just sprouted as this is the fastest tree of the three, I am still awaiting for maple and birch. This is a fun little project to do, i only planted half the seeds and now worried i will have a field of Bonzai but it should be fun!
10 days after planting and there’s progress!
I was skeptical to buy because I’ve never grown veggies before, but this kit was super easy to use with easy to read instructions.
I would recommend buying some soil and pots to replant in if you intend to continue growing indoors… as this is the next step after you see shoots. Other than that, all you need to start is included in the box. Happy growing
It’s really good product! Have no clue how they will be when they get bigger, but at the moment seeds are very good and have come up very well!
Update since spring:
They are amazing!!! Plants are strong and taff. Have been flowering like crazy and still are. And lots of tomatoes coming on. Sooo looking forward to see them once they will be ready. It’s my first year of growing tomatoes and I am really, really pleased!
I am an experienced plant guy. I have been keeping bonsai trees for over 10 years and decided to grow some myself. I did however get no growth from any of the seeds which was a downside, but I am still giving 5 stars as that may not be the products fault. Sometimes these things happen.
Brought as a birthday gift for a family member and they loved it … great gif
Update late nov: the only ones to germinate were the 3 pinus seeds and all 3 died pretty quickly.
I figure I’ll update this review as I go.
Well packed and instructions are good and easy to follow.
Day 12 there’s germination in one of three pots (the pinus) one of them had formed a layer of mold (my fault bag wasn’t open enough) so scraped that off and put the two who haven’t germinated yet in the fridge for the next 4-6 weeks, like the instructions suggest. I’ll keep a close eye on them incase they germinate way early like the pinus did.
Smaller box than expected and as children not opened I am keeping as a gift for late
Brought this to keep my elderly family, occupied and rightly so, she was well happy with. It was a great birthday gift!
Easy to use and 100% success for the variants that were in the pack.
However, only 4 seed packs were in the box. The rest was missing.
I bought this for my mum who is a keen gardener. It is a lovely unusual gift that is well presented, only time will tell how the tomatoes will turn out, but the gift was well received and appreciated. If you have a green fingered friend or relative, this is a nice unusual gift idea.
bought this as a gift receiver mentioned couple of items missing got in touch with seller and missing items have been put in the post first class , perfect thanks very much
Bought as a present, but apparently couple of them are starting to grow! Very small package. Cardboard pots and seeds only included. But they seem happy with it.
Great gift purchased for my partner to grow with our little one. Great packaging easy instructions an all round good buy well worth the money as an unusual gif
Great gift purchased for my partner to grow with our little one. Great packaging easy instructions an all round good buy well worth the money as an unusual gif
Was given as a present and the person who received the gift seemed happy. Quick delivery.
Instructions are very clear, everything you need to grow your own Bonsai. Bought for a gift and the recipient was really impressed. Excellent value for money.
I was disappointed to give this item as a gift on Xmas day for the person to open the box and find 2 x duo and no packet of Black Russian!
Deciding what to buy for a friend at Christmas time may seem hard. I bought this for a friend who likes to grow different fruit and vegetables, this kit will hopefully bring plenty of joy.
Bought this as a gift for someone who likes buying bonsai trees. The packaging looks really smart.
The instructions were easy to follow and planing the seeds was easy. Time will tell whether they grow or not but they said they had great fun setting it up. Would high recommend as a small novelty gift for anyone .
Sorry I have not had the chance to study how to put it all together, waiting for all the Xmas holidays are over then I will have something to do through January….
The box looks quite good and so do the instructions, everything looks straight forward, but I won’t be starting the the seeds until the new year.
The Bonsai’s are already growing! I know it will take a while to grow into the tree but after following the instructions we have little baby Bonsai’s! Great gift for those who have everything!
I wanted this product for ages but decided to gift it to a friend. He was confused at first and explained to him it should teach him patience.
Two months down the line I got some feedback from him:
Initially, the instructions are not clear and more research is necessary. The first batch did not germinate and failed. The second batch was successful and needed to be temperature regulated and looked after closely.
Pros:
Bonsai are beautiful and therapeutic.
Great at keeping you pre-occupied.
The kit is simple and contains the basics.
A great gift when you have a small budget.
Cons:
The kit only contains the bare minimum, would have like a long term pot for my bonsai.
Not a great gift for kids.
Needs a better long term guide to maintain bonsai.
Will eventually need more space.
Overall, I would recommend this to people who already know how to grow plants.
Thank you for your time, Please remember to upvote.
Arrived on time & very well packaged!
Very happy with my order, this made a fantastic birthday gift!
– Great value for money! ^_^
– Highly recommend!
he box came and it was very well presented, good detailed instructions and well supplied with everything you need, very good gift idea and good place to start a potential new hobby, price could be little better but considering what you get its not bad,
but overall very happy.
This will be used as a Christmas gift for a ill lady who is undergoing chemo and cannot go ourdoors. This will stimulte her artistic skills. A great gift.
Bought as a present. My partner was looking at Bonsais and I came across this. It was received greatly and partner was very appreciative, however it seems even at the age of 30 he doesn’t know how to water a plant and all 6 are now dead. Only get for those with green fingers!
Didn’t know how long it would take to grow when I bought it but I’m sure it would’ve been beautiful if I’d bothered doing i
Bought as a birthday present and so happy!
The packaging was attractive and the instructions clear.
My friend has already planted the tree and we cannot wait for it to start growing.
A very good gift idea for anyone!
Great little gift but glad its not mine, needs putting in the fridge and the care and stuff. I am not a gardener but the person I bought it for loves it.
Arrived today as expected with amazon prime.
Box looks immaculate and all contents there.
It’s part of a Christmas gift so time will tell.
I also purchased a book called ‘bonsai basics’ and some bonsai grow/nutrients so I’m hoping these seeds will flourish and hasn’t been a wasted gift.
mine didn’t have instructions 🙁 had to look on the net to find some info but otherwise it looks like a good buy, everything came on time
can anyone give me a link to the proper instructions as Im still trying to figure things out
i soaked the seeds for 24hrs and now potted and bagged them, do i have to water them, or is it a case of leaving them in a cool dark place for 2-3 weeks
I bought this for my son and daughter in law fir a Christmas gift, as they have just had their first year in their new home and are avid gardeners growing their own vegetables. I purchased this with the Psychedelic Salad kit as they look to be quirky and a fun thing to grow next year. Until they are used I cannot comment on how successful they are to grow but I am sure they will love the novelty of this. The delivery was quick and not surprisingly it is a small box (I don’t know why but I did expect it to be bigger) however when you consider the contents of small pots n seeds, it couldn’t be any bigger. Overall I am happy I chose this and will look forward to their comments next year. Its something different for garden lovers to grow!
I couldn’t find an actual bonsai so this did the trick
When the box arrived and I opened it my first thought was oh is that it, but thought ok maybe it will be ok and I duly planted all the seeds. The seeds germinated very quickly and I then transferred them into bigger pots and split them. Once they were big enough I split them again into single tomatoes and put them into their permanent grow bags. I am amazed at how many plants I had come up from only a few seeds, nearly 80 in total and couldn’t give them away fast enough as had no room for them. I now have 40 plants all over the garden and I have absolutely hundreds of different variety tomatoes and they are still flowering. I have had to nip the tops to stop them growing anymore as some of them are already about 4 foot high, some don’t grow so high I assume as its because of the variety and they are smaller tomatoes on them. This kit is well worth every penny.
It’s a birthday gift for my daughter who has always wanted a Bonsai Tree so the fact that there are three in the kit is very good, hopefully she’ll get much pleasure out of growing her own tree and looking after it.
Got this as a gift to my brother. He thinks of himself as having a green thumb and loves growing plants. He’s always been into Bonsai Trees and would just generally buy them from a store. Having the chance to try his hand at actually growing one is a great task for him. He’s thrilled with it.
Bought 2 on the half price deal as christmas presents, we liked them so bought ourselves one
Just taken the pots out of the fridge and found one seed already germinated – Pinus Mugo Pumilio must like it cold
Edit.
Some time later I now have three pines, two maples and six silver birch, might take some time before they look like the plants shown on the box!
The ‘Funky Veg Kit’ is a little unusual with the seeds that are inside. Kids and adults alike will love growing weird and wacky variation of regular veg . We have found that it is easier to get the kids to try things if they have helped to grow them. This combined with the novelty effect on ‘Purple Carrots’ and ‘Stripy Tomatoes’ really got the kids interested at meal times.
This was also something that they could get involved in as they took on the duties of watering (under my supervision) which they really enjoyed. A great thing to do and a good way to spend more time with the kids.
I purchased this as a gift for 2 friends over Christmas and was lucky enough to get it on a flash deal. The packaging and reviews attracted me to it. Obviously I can’t comment on how well they have worked as it is only a few weeks since we have purchased it but we were very impressed by the inclusions, and the price. If they all germinate they will make a wonderful salad. I am planning to purchase another set for us when we move full time to somewhere with a garden. Lovely gift, and great value
Gave this as a gift to my dad so there’s a very good chance it’s still in its box somewhere in his house but it arrived quickly, in perfect condition and looked great, I would have been very pleased with this gift as I love the idea of growing some things that are a little different but I am yet to keep anything plant based alive for long enough to get any food off it. If I see it at my dads I might steal it back and give it a go or might just order another one!
