PortaPow 3rd Gen Data Blocker (Red) – Protect Against Juice Jacking
Following the success of our Data Block USB cables, Data Blocker USB Adaptor released in 2013 and the ‘SmartCharge’ Data Blocker released in 2015, we’ve now released our latest update.
The 3rd Gen PortaPow Data Blocker still connects to the end of your USB charging cable and allows you to charge your device safely with no risk of viruses / hacking, and incorporates our SmartCharge chip to send the correct charging signal for your device, which can even improve charging speed if your charger is sending the wrong signal. It still has the same compact size so it won’t block neighboring sockets if your charger/computer has several side by side.
Improvements include visible security, laser etching, and zero waste packaging. See below for more details.
The blocker will not solve charging issues caused by a low quality or extra long cable, a low powered socket (eg some car sockets) or a device which requires a non-standard signal (eg some SatNavs / DashCams). In these cases please use a different charger or cable. Devices which charge using Qualcomm Quick Charge, Samsung Adaptive Fast Charge, Motorola TurboPower or similar standards require data transfer to be enabled and a compatible charger, and so will not charge at extra fast speeds from normal USB sockets or with a data blocker.

Tested with some Phone Stealers etc and it works prefectly and prevented everything and for such a cheap price am suprised and it’s pretty well made.
NOTE: It may of just been me but it did seem it wasn’t fast charging but that could of been caused by my charger at that time not 100% sure.

Completely safe and only useful for charging from any source

The NO DATA allowed the Nissan USB port to charge my phone while not erring thinking there isn’t any song on my iPod (which it isn’t). Good deal.

Ahora que proliferan puntos de carga (en calles, en los trenes o en el metro), puedo enchufar mi smartphone sin tener que preocuparme de que pueda infectarme con algn tipo de malware o que mi informacin se vea comprometida. En vez de comprarme un cable slo de carga, prefiero llevar este adaptador y as el cable que ya tengo permitir trfico de datos slo cuando lo necesite.
No need to buy multiple data-only cables (standard and USB-C). This will convert all of them. It does appear, though, that the fast charge function no longer works.
There isn’t much to write about. It works as advertised and without any problems. The device fits securely on both ends and blocks the data as advertised. It’s an essential travel gadget.
Il prodotto davvero ben fatto. Ho letto varie recensioni su internet che portavano questo adattatore come il migliore, dopo quasi un mese di utilizzo posso dire che davvero lo . Non ho mai avuto problemi di ricarica, il telefono lo rileva sempre e inoltre in alcuni casi riesce anche a non bloccare il fast charge. Per quanto riguarda la sua funzione primaria mi sento davvero sicuro adesso, senza pi la paura di attaccare il telefono ad una colonnina pubblica e ricevere malware. Utilizzato su aerei, alberghi e auto. Meglio di qualsiasi altro cavo che non dovrebbe avere i terminali dati. Consigliatissimo a tutti quelli che come me non si fidano dei posti pubblici.

Finally I’m able to plug my phone into my car head unit to charge without constantly being prompted to install that worthless Android Auto app.

Permet entre autre, que votre ordinateur ne ragisse pas quand vous chargez un appareil en le branchant sur un de ses ports USB. 🙂
Et bien sr, vous permet d’tre sr que votre appareil n’est pas atteignable quand vous le branchez sur un port USB dont vous ne savez rien.
This charges my Sony Xperia XZ1 really well, even from USB ports (such as on my work laptop) which don’t allow data transfer.
However, when it’s plugged in (e.g. to a laptop) and has a charging cable plugged into it, it just feels a bit flimsy and easily knocked off.

This is a sturdily-made little thing. When the charger for my dash-cam broke, I tried to just power it from my modern car’s USB socket, but unfortunately the car kept trying to connect to the camera, so it wouldn’t record. Using this device instantly allowed my camera to work. Also, it used to be annoying trying to charge my phone from the car, as again, the car would try to connect to it. This little device also stopped that problem too. I also use it to charge my phone from my work PC without the PC attempting to connect to it. This is particularly important, as my PC at work runs Windows, and I do not allow any of my personal devices to run or connect directly to anything running proprietary software. It will also be useful if I ever need to charge a device from a public charging point, as I can then be certain that even in the event of it being tampered-with, my phone is safe from any kind of data connection.
Este producto, adems de bloquear e interferir la transmisin de datos, permite tener el telfono cargado en menos tiempo del que te esperas. Algunas veces suelo conectarlo al ordenador del trabajo o a puertos pblicos. Saber que ningn tipo de informacin podr ser trasladada desde mi dispositivo me deja muy tranquilo.

Was having a problem charging my phone in my car with out it trying to access data. This worked great. doesent seem to impede charging time.
This data blocking cable works as advertised! Definitely a must have when traveling and using other charging stations.

Very pleased with this little device. Now I can plug my phone into my computer without being prompted to download 1 GB of iTunes updates and crater any other applications I have running on my PC or phone at the moment.
There’s really little to tell about the device which is supposed to “do nothing”. But, it does that well, I don’t have to deal with incessant iOS prompts to allow my iPhone on work computer which I DO NOT WANT TO ALLOW (what was Apple thinking by creating this iOS harassment)!
Permite la carga normal de los dispositivos cortando las lneas de transmisin de datos. No funciona las tecnologas QuickCharge, ya que utilizan las lineas de datos. (De cualquier forma, esto es para usarlo en cargadores pblicos que no van a ser compatibles con QuickCharge).
Como punto negativo, me parece algo caro para una cosa tan simple.
Plug this in, and your charge cable into it, and all you get is power and nothing else. Perfect. Used on planes, in hotels and in cars. I am a bit paranoid and don’t trust ports I don’t own myself, so this is perfect.
Only downside, but unavoidable, is that it is about 2 inches long, so sticks out a bit from the port. Would be great if they did one that was flexible so it bent with the cable rather than stuck straight out, but that is a minor issue and wouldn’t stop me buying or using this.
Ormai porto questo adattatore sempre con me e lo utilizzo ogni volta che devo mettere sotto carica il mio telefono con qualche colonnina pubblica. Questo perch capitato pi di qualche volta che colonnine di ricarica venissero hackerate e diventassero vettori di malware.
I have a Sony eBook that doesn’t charge with a normal charge cable – it goes into USB mode with most USB ports. So I bought this to force it to charge. Works perfectly.

I use this for traveling, it’s always a bit sketchy plugging your phone into random airport or hotel outlets and computers. This allows for charging without transferring data between devices.

Et ils n’change plus de donnes entre eux.

Does what it says on the tin. I use this to allow me to plug my personal phone into my work laptop without triggering a wildly over the top security incident.
Great for travel and EDC 2hen needing to charge phone ang only unknown USB port available.
Besides protecting me against hacks it eliminates the annoying ‘do you trust this device’ and similar dialogs. The computer does not even know that I am charging my ipad and the ipad thinks that it is on a wall charger. The only downside is that people keep stealing these from me.

Whenever we connected our iPhone to our car using USB, it would try to play music/GPS audio through the USB but the functionality was broken and would often malfunction. Thanks to this device, the car now only charges my iPhone and audio always play through Bluetooth audio.

There are 2 parts to this little gadget, first it lets you charge your phone on anyone’s laptop without any danger of them gaining access to your phones data. the second (and more dramatic) is it manages the power of the USB port to stop the power supply being restricted the result is my phone charges at an incredible speed compared to before. It is not supplying power just fooling/telling the laptop to maximize charge

Perfect Solution for a 2017 Mazda3…the two USB ports on the dash are not powerful enough on their own to charge an iPhone 7. Plug this unit in then plug the charging cable into it and problem solved. This doohickey cuts off the data connection, instead providing full charging power to the phone.

Collegando il telefono direttamente al PC la batteria da 2550 mAh del Samsung S6 impiega ben 5 ore e 40 minuti. La corrente erogata dalla porta USB 3.0 quindi di circa 450 – 500 mA. Utilizzando questo adattatore la corrente erogata passa a 1,7 A, pertanto la batteria si carica in soli 90 minuti. importante utilizzare un cavo di buona qualit e non troppo lungo. Ricordo, infine, che ho utilizzato le porte USB che si trovano direttamente sulla scheda madre, utilizzando quelle sul fronte del case la corrente erogata cala.
Exactly what I needed. This device prevents my iPhone and my MP3 player from creating a virtual drive when I plug it into a PC. When you’re just trying to charge it you don’t need a drive connection.
I use this to charge my iPhone on my company laptop which is very strictly prohibited from allowing smart devices to plug in. Works great, and the company IT people haven’t demanded I be fired – yet. 🙂
Does exactly what I need and allows my phone to be dumb charged via my car – which wasn’t happening when the data lines were connected due to incompatibility between Subaru and Motorola.

I was able to charge my phone at full speed off of my laptop. Before it took 6 hours to charge my phone. Now it takes 2 – 3 hours. This item did the trick!
Works perfectly for the purpose of being able to charge my phone from a “blocked” USB port, also stops data transfer either in either direction – which are the two things I needed.
So I cant speak to whether it charges the phone any faster (I suspect not greatly so) but I wanted it for blocking data transfer and it does that perfectly so 5* for that.
