Real comfortable and cool ear gel, great sound and noise cancellation too, using it on xbox series x
I wasn’t expecting much from the work side, as my Microsoft surface pro given by work, is notoriously rubbish at handling Bluetooth headphones. Many users will know of having to deal with random disconnections, crackling sound, poor audio etc. However this is the only Bluetooth headset that my laptop seems to work in sync with. It paired instantly with my laptop, and fingers crossed has not disconnected so far. The sound is loud and clear, and after asking for feedback about how I sounded using the microphone, I was told that I sounded loud and clear. So very impressed.
I’m a sucker for RGB and I like that I am able to customise the lighting (plus sound elements of the headphones such as increasing bass etc) from the apps on my phone. The RBG modes all work well, and like that I can change these quick and easily.
One of the other main factors for me is comfort. Having meetings which can be an hour or longer, means with some headphones I have had before, they start to press on my ears or head, and cause discomfort. These however are a joy to wear. They are lightweight, very soft around the ears and from an aesthetic point of view, not so bulky looking, as some headphones can look a bit large!
Watching films and programmes through various apps and online gives an equally enjoyable experience, as does using it with my phone. I did find that listening to some music in a standard mode, that it was lacking in bass, but changing the settings simply to add bass or treble etc, sorts that out quickly, so please do have a play around with the audio app, if you find music sounding a bit lacklustre to your liking.
I have not yet tried these for gaming, so I am unable to make a comment on that aspect, but I am hoping that they will continue to work well for that too.
So these are adorable, and the sound isn’t too bad considering they’re kind of gimmicky. They block sound out quite well, can’t hear a damn thing with em on. My neighbours have noisy kids so this is a plus when WFH.
There are a few EQ settings and you can also play with a custom setting (which is what I’m using). I am using these more for music and work than gaming atm so can’t really comment on their suitability for that. I just wanted to look cute in the office and on Teams calls, lol.
Easy to connect to bluetooth for audio. Absolute NIGHTMARE trying to connect to adjust the EQ and colours of the lights. No matter what I did, synapse on PC never picked up the headset at all, whether I used the cable or connected via Bluetooth. On android, too, neither the sound nor RGB apps could find it under kitty BT (the sound app DID connect when I selected the hello kitty version, for some reason).
Finally, I tried my old iPad and it finally paired! I could select any colour and adjust the brightness. It saves the setting so it keeps it when connected to my other devices. Weirdly, after I got it to work on my iPad, my android RGB app can suddenly find it, so now I can manage everything from my phone.
Bit of hassle and faffing, it’s not user friendly in the slightest. I spent all day googling and trying different things before I thought to try the iPad. Try different devices if your first one can’t connect.
I am an adult gamer girl who streams and all my life I have dealt with the problem that I am quite small and therefor, I have a small head. This results in me having to buy kids/youth sunglasses and hats, no joke. So getting a headset has always been hit or miss. I tend to have to buy cheaper ones as they are generally lighter and smaller but they are never as good quality. I sometimes buy 2 or 3 different headsets at a time just to get one that fits and isn’t too heavy. I have tried them all – Turtle Beach, SteelSeries, I have spent a small fortune over the last 10 years on headsets that I couldn’t use. Well, no more. This is perfect. The quality is amazing, the fit is tight and comfortable, my ears actually fit inside the bit they are supposed to! And the cherry on top; I got it in a flash sale! Best purchase in years, I am so happy. Hope this helps someone out there in a similar position, honestly, look no further than Razor Kraken Ultralights. Happy Gaming Everyone!
Having owned Razer headphones in the past I decided to buy Razer again and I am happy with my decision. This is a good headset if you don’t want to spend too much money, however I would hold on for a more expensive headset as the quality, whilst good, is not outstanding. My main problem with this headset is the microphone, the quality is not very good and it is also not retractable, which means it can be a bit of a nuisance at times. There is also no remote, the volume level adjuster and mic on/off button is on the back of the left cup, I would personally prefer a remote as reaching to the back of the left cup is somewhat of an inconvenience. Sound quality is good, but not amazing; there are no interesting features like THX Synapse on the costlier Razer headsets.
Overall, a good headset on a budget, but if I could go back in time I think I would have opted for one of Razer’s more expensive offerings.
The quality of this mic is quite clear, but its sensitivity learning can be awkward at times and I had to readjust my mic settings via PC three times throughout the 9 months I’ve owned it.
It’s quite durable and sturdy and I drop things a lot, especially when playing VR.
A cheap pop filter around the mic will make it much better too.
I definitely recommend a buy if you want a great quality headset that’ll last you a while.
I’m fairly certain this would have lasted me longer had I not dropped it eight times.
The only damage it has received in my 9 months of owning and dropping it however;
Is a small tear along the headset band and the left headset strap has cracked and is currently threatening to snap at any moment.
TL;DR
Good headset will last you 8 months at least.
Set up was a pain, but I got there eventually. But then I’m new to this sort of stuff. Not sure that I’m using the full range of features that come with the package, but they do what I need them to do.

One thing I found about these headphones is using them on computer the included splitter can make the sound muffled. I switched the splitter for one I found on here and it cleared them right up. Not sure if it’s designed to do that but I tried it on my Xbox One S and noticed without the splitter plugged straight into my controller, it was clear as day. I think it was the splitter that came with mine that made it muffled on computer where the microphone jack and the headphone jack is separate which I imagine is the case with most desktop computers. Might and probably is different for laptops and other platforms but on my desktop computer this fixed it for me.
The equalizer is also worth messing with as it can be warm for some sorts of music or maybe it’s just right for you. It’s all down to personal taste really. I included a image of an equalizer setting I found pretty good for listening to music on these headphones but it is worth messing with yours to see what sounds better for the type of music or general use you use with yours. Needless to say this is all subjective and there is no “Right” way to do this.
As for the microphone it seems to work just fine and doesn’t seem to suffer from what the USB microphones usually suffer with ( A low hissing sound ). Can’t say I’ve had much use with it yet but I have used online mic testers and it works well.
Over all I think the build quality of this headset it’s a pretty sturdy bit of kit this. I wouldn’t go throwing it at windows that’s for sure otherwise it won’t be a window for much longer I imagine! Comfortable too, was playing online earlier and didn’t have any discomfort from wearing these headset.
I’d say they are not as good for general use (movies/TV etc) as they are a bit bass heavy and voices can sound a bit distant. They are, as I said, great for gaming though. With the 7.1 surround sound, although subtle, it’s a really good experience. The 50mm drivers are really loud too, and the quality stays the same so they are quite decent quality.
Would 100% recommend this headset at this price point (~40).
This is a really good headset. I like gaming and I go through quite a few headsets. I had been buying Tecknet headsets for the past few years but the last one had a really bad mic on it and I could not get it to work better so I went for this headset.
Great sound, not as Bassey as the Tecknet headsets. The mic is really good. There great for watching a movie or listing to music, their very well balanced. They feel good on the head, very snug.
I would buy these cans again.
It’s got a good weight to it. You look like a professional gamer, and all round they are a very good pair of headsets.
Would I recommend these to others, yes I would, and I have bought one for myself and for my best friend for his Xmas and he loves them.
The headphones are great, really clear audio and high quality. It’s plastic but.if.you are gentle and don’t go smashing it around it will last.
The microphone is useless. Every time I plug it in and test it, you can clearly hear all my audio from my PC being fed back in. I have tried multiple splitters, jacks, drivers and more to no avail. I believe its just bust, but I had a headset microphone available that I stuck to the side.of the headphones and they work fine.
Splitter is also quite flimsy, but it works and hasn’t broken with use for over a year now.
Buy for the headphones, not the mic. Recommended.
Really pleased with them. Normally wary of the flashy brands as they don’t always live up to the hype, but these have been exceptionally good. Superb value for money, experiencing 7.1 sound with these honestly blew my mind! Top notch, very happy!
It comes with a 7.1 surround sound card that on PC really sets itself apart from my old turtle beach stereo headsets.
On Xbox series S you need to buy separate surround sound software that it recommends as razers software is PC only meaning unless you buy surround sound on console it will operate as a stereo headset.
The build quality is very good it’s all plastic construction with no weights so as long as you look after it then the product will last.
The built in microphone is good, it sounds like many headphones mics apart from its designed to pick up specific sounds like P’s and S’s that normal mics would struggle to pick up.
Iv tested it on both PC and Xbox series S, on PC or my PC atleast it’s listed as realteck mic which caused a lot of confusion with me because I thought it would identify as a razer headset but it has worked on stream on PC and I have sent voice messages on Xbox with both results being really good.
I give this a 5 star especially if you want immersion when you game. Playing Forza horizon 5 on this is crazy as cars scream past you at 200mph. You can really hear the car drive past 4 of your speakers and it’s just incredible.
So haptics on headphones may seem potentially unnecessary, however, it’s honestly a great experience. I can understand that to some people it might be a bit much if you are hyper sensitive to vibrations but even then the lowest setting might work for you, but for me it set to medium is the sweetspot. Feeling the bass in songs and the beat of drums makes it feel much more real, like you’re actually there with all the noise pulsing through your body, and feeling the shockwave of explosions or the rumble of a car engine is definitely something to experience. I’ve briefly had to go back to another pair of headphones (simply to play games on another device and i didnt feel like setting up the kraken on it, even tho its basically instant if you already have razer synapse installed) and i found myself really missing the haptics even more so than the THX spacial audio which made my other headphones sound dull. To sum up about the haptics, they add an extra edge of immersion into whatever content you are experiencing and it’s so satisfying but you’ll miss it if you have to go without it for even a minute.
Now the last of what i consider to be the three most important factors of a headset, comfort. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of round headphone cups, but honestly these are the most comfortable ones I’ve tried, it still feels strange to me (as I have mainly used rectangular for many years) but it’s definitely comfortable the many hours I’ve had the kraken on. It doesnt make your ears overheat and the cups are soft yet supportive. Only issue I have is there’s less clamping pressure than I’m used to and due to the circular shape, if i tilt my head completely down, the headphones slip and rest on the back of my ears, feeling as if they’ll fall of with some average energy head shaking, but I may just be spoiled with my previous rectangular headphones which feel sturdy no matter what which made them feel more comfortable just because I could do anything and not worry about them falling off. I have the same issue with all round headphones I’ve tried, so if you don’t have an issue with others, you wont with this because this is noticeably better than others to me.
Overall, the Kraken V3 with hypersense is an absolutely amazing set of headphones, amazing quality, innovation in the amazingly tuned haptics, and decent price below what I’d consider matching level headphones from competitors. Of course they’re not the best headphones in existence, as if you spend a couple to many times the price you’re likely to get better clarity and surround sound from headphones with five or so speakers per ear, but you cant get much better in the same price range, if you can find anything better anyway.
And to actually finish, in a place most people skip to read, best headphones for price, will probably last forever like my older Razer Electra V2. Only issue is its microphone is great for picking up voice no matter the surroundings, but it still sounds like “a high quality game chat”, and is a bit worse than my electra, so perfect for game chat, mediocre for talking to friends or in meetings, and definitely wouldn’t use for streaming or making content of any sort.
At first they wouldn’t connect to my PlayStation, but after messing about with it for a while it worked!
Would buy again.
The razer software provides access to many different settings. Most importantly sidetone, which allows one to hear own voice whilst communicating, so no more shouting. Sidetone volume can be adjusted or turned off. And best of all it works with discord.
There’s also microphone noise reduction, clarity settings and others, allowing us to have perfect voice control. I use voice alot when gaming, it’s important the headphones are comfortable, here they do not fail, special ear cushions cool my ears, also I wear spectacles, the cushions are spectacle frame compatible, the arms aren’t jammed in against my temple anymore, brilliant design.
Now as for the sound, THX is amazing, is totally immersive, sounds from all around when playing compatible games (which most are), with loads of software controls, including bass boost and graphic equaliser. Even music is brought to life. Especially high and low frequencies.
The ear pads externally have lighting, which razer software controls, ive mine set to breathing effect. I’ve also other razer products with lighting. My setup is complete. Thanks Razer.
Biggest issue I found was the inline volume & mute button. When volume is all the way up the left channel can cut out and the mute button has a delay plus creates some noticable noise through the mic.
The headphones were of good quality and easy to set up and use, with the great option of the razor software if on a computer. The pads easily fit around my big ears making for a good audio listening in games or music, wish it did have an auc end as this version was just USB
The sound is so nice and clear. Impressed with the bass. My friends are also nice and clear in party chat. They also said I sound a lot clearer as well. The ear bit is nice and big so to me it feels comfy as I don’t like it when it’s touching my ears. It’s also not heavy on my head and overall fits well.
I see the reviews change after a couple of months. So I will update if mine decide to start playing up but at the moment I’m extremely impressed with them and I absolutely love the look of them.

They have a couple of other good gaming features.
1. They can separate the volumes of chat and game on a play station – which means my son has stopped shouting so much in game.
2. They are 5.1 surround enabled on the PlayStation and come with a 7.1 usb soundcard for PC. I’ve always been a bit meh about surround headphone claims, but these seem to work surprisingly well.
If you don’t need the extra features get the cheaper version, but as a package this is well worth the 80ish quid I paid.

The side of the headphones lights up and changes colour and when you first plug it into your pc it brings up a screen where you can download software to customise, very happy with these
These headphones popped up as a treasure truck deal. I wouldn’t have looked at them prior to seeing the deal but it was too hard to pass on them!
I find the cones cushioning to be comfortable – if you play for a long time, I’m talking hours, they can feel hot on your ears, I put this down to obsession in playing Warzone for too long!
The mic is clear and neatly retracts back into the left ear cone, and is easily adjustable. The padding on the arc is comfortable too.
I love the green colour, very funky!
Sadly, I haven’t had the benefit of the THX adapter as it doesn’t seem to have any effect on PS5 and will most likely be for a PC player – however the sound adjustments on COD come through clear and the surrounding sound is excellent!
For the price, they are worth it in my opinion – I will no doubt upgrade through the series as I continue, just to see what else this brand has to offer.
I highly recommend this headset!
Negative:
– The max volume is a bit low for my liking. I’m using max volume on ps4 settings and game settings and on headset settings and its still not good enough.
– The surround sound or positional is good, but could be better, doesn’t satisfy me, I would probably invest a bit more and get more quality. I mean, for the price tag you really cant demand much more…I imagine that this is what you get on other brands for this price.
– Can’t find anything else I dont like
Positives:
– Build quality is very good and the finishing touches are amazing.
– Super comfortable, they are amazing!!!! Although the headsets have a big and chunky look their size makes them very adjustable and they are a perfetc fit for me. I have a large head and big ears and the fit is confortable and I dont feel my head pressured or being squashed and plus my ears fit all inside the cup and this adds confort and for long gaming periods you dont feel pain on your ears.
– Besides being extremely comfortable and the earcups actually isolate you from outside sound very well so all your focus is in the game.
– The foam or gel technique and fabric cover on the earcups edges makes them confortable but they also prevent the warming up of the ears and building up of sweat. I have some Sony music wireless headsets and I cant wear them more than half an our because of the heat discomfort and I start sweating lots…so I’m very happy with this RazerKraken set!
– Love the retractable mic and its very adjustable. Mic sound is clear and good enough, and background sound isolation is good also.
– I like the fact that the sound volume control is in the 3.5mm cord and that there is a button to mute the mic. Also the cord is built with a anti tangling fabric like finishig that is very handy.
– In the box you get also an extra extension cord with 2 different types of 3.5mm jacks that I imagine that you can use for different platforms.
– Sound quality is very good…just wish it could go lauder and thet positional sound technology could be better.
Overall very good quality, extremely comfortable, good sound quality. Very good for the price tag.
Personally I woul invest a few more pounds to get a better model from the same brand
Fantastic headset. Best sound quality I’ve heard on anything under 100. 100% would recommend! 7.1 Surround Sound works amazingly well, I would however recommend the THX Spatial Sound Software which you can get for 10 with the 50% off voucher when you buy these headphones. With the THX software these sound like premium 200 headphones. Overall amazing product, rgb is a nice touch too.
There was a problem with them at first though. The volume of the mic was so low my friends couldn’t hear me when I spoke. I contacted Realtek to install the latest drivers and then contacted Amazon support who were brilliant. There is a video on the Razer site that is very helpful too but none of these steps solved my problem. So if you experience similar difficulties, here’s what I did to fix it. I went to Sound Settings>Sound Control Panel (in blue on the right)>Recording tab>Right-clicked the microphone>Properties>Levels and then used the slider to boost the microphone level. And now I’m deafening my online friends!
Sound:
The 7.1 surround sound (software required) is a great step up from my previous headset, a 15 headset that was unremarkable and lacking. I was quite frankly surprised at how easy it was in games to make out where sounds were coming from (Valorant, GTAV, CSGO to name a few) in relation to where my character was positioned.
One area where the audio is less impressive is music. The low frequencies sound a little muddy, and the highs lack structure, in comparison to my other headphones (Sony WH-H910N). I am not hugely disappointed by this, as the headset is not advertised to have studio-quality sound for music.
Build/Ergonomics:
The headset is comfortable, with the ear cups sitting around my ears rather well. the headband is soft and forgiving, allowing for longer gaming periods. The build quality isn’t excellent however. The frame of the headphones are entirely plastic, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the size adjusters on the sides lack a smoothness in movement. I am not really one to rage at games, but if you find yourself the type to be destructive when succumbing to a poor game mechanic (because it is always the game’s fault) I would recommend you do not take your anger out on your Razer Kraken V3 X headset.
The input USB wire for the headset does seem to kink without great difficulty, but it does feel sturdy enough for day-to-day use.
Mic:
The mic quality seems to be good, with my friends noticing an improvement over my old headset in a Discord call (the headset being Discord Certified). Sure, it won’t transmit your voice as well as a 500 studio microphone, but for an all-in one package it does the job.
In conclusion, the Kraken V3 X is a solid headset for 70, even more so for the 40 I acquired it for in an Amazon sale
The audio quality is good, a bit better than my turtle beach reacon 70P headphones. The connection is USB only. The microphone and cable cannot be disconnected. The headset worked well with Razer’s synapse software. On the headset it has volume wheel which integrates well with windows 10 (not sure about mac or linux) and a mute button, these are both on the left ear cup. the cable has a rubber strap attached for cable management, however the only way to remove it is by cutting it off, I would’ve prefered this to be removeable without a pair of scissors
As the title mentions the audio wheel(which is on the headset itself, not the cable like others have mentioned) does not work on PS4. Unfortunately every time I need to change the volume I have to pause the game and either change the in game volume or hold in the PS button and change the device volume manually. As you can imagine this doesn’t work well with online games. Other than that the sound quality is great and so is the mic quality, I look forward to trying it on my PC and updating my review if needs be!
The audio is good for the price and microphone seems OK. The one-axis ear-cup rotation and quite squishy, deep, fake-leather ear-cushions of these feel odd and were noticeable less breathable during recent summer weather, compared to the two-axis ear-cup rotation and fabric/foam ear-cushions of my prior headset. It would be nice if the manufacture could look at improving ear cushion breathability, possibly via accessories.
I chose these because they seemed the best, economy priced, headset I could find for remote group sessions and some media use, after being embarrassed for a remote group session by a fragile design failure of an expensive S. S. 7 gaming headset I have, which is now obvious in most of their models.
I buy gaming headsets because they tend to have better Audio, so are useful for media, and can even be cheaper than voice specific headsets with microphones, the larger over-ear cups can also better block external noises too.
You can move the mic up and down and in toward your face and away, its very flexible.
They are incredibly comfortable, I wear glasses and they are lovely. The ear pieces don’t rotate like someone said so the glasses tunnel is where it needs to be
If you press the mute/unmute button the mic works.
It is very clear audio especially in party chat on xbox.
There appears to be some Interference for other people when I talk, but thats not an issue for me, cos I cant hear it.
PROs:
– Comfortable
– Good sound
– Surround sound works well
CONs:
– A big price jump for not a lot extra
– Average performing mic
– USB gaming headset which means it really only works on PC
In my opinion this headset is suitable for gamers or people who work from home and have to sit through hours and hours of conference calls due to the headset being relatively lightweight.
in the box you can find just the headset and a brief start guide manual (not much). I wish there was also an adapter that would allow the use of the headset on platforms other than PC but unfortunately there wasn’t such thing in the box.
One thing I like about this headset is that the headphones are large, with thick ear pads filled with cooling gel and foam which helps. The retractable microphone sits in the left earphone and can be muted by squeezing the top. It all feels very comfortable. Oh, and it lights up now too, if you are into that (like I am). As someone who is wearing glasses I was surprised to discover there are hidden eyewear channels carved in the pads to decrease the tension and make getting a decent seal easier.
Raser Kraken Ultimate is a nice to have headset.
BUT. They do a thing that no other headset does: the glasses channels in the ear pads. These are very subtle – you can barely feel them with your hand – but this is the only headset I can wear with my glasses for any length of time. My glasses aren’t super chunky, but the arms are several millimetres thick at the hinge. Every other headset gives my unbearable headaches after a while, but the Krakens let me stretch that out a lot. On a good day I get a full 6-8 hours, but even on a bad day I make it 2-3 hours without needing to switch to ear buds. No other headset gives me that, even with aftermarket memory foam ear pads fitted.
Other than that the pads are comfy, the retractable microphone is handy, and the mic quality has been fine for those Teams calls.
Microphone quality is also good and I’ve have some positive comments from others on how clear it is.
They also work well on my laptop for Teams calls. Find them more comfortable to wear for conference calls compared to my on ear headset I used to use for calls.
Wow. This is simply the best headset that I have ever used. Prior to this I was using the PlayStation GOLD headset which was great, however wasn’t ideal for gaming on my PC or Xbox. Its great that this headset boasts a powerful performance across all platforms.
The RGB lighting on the ears is subtle, and a brilliant feature (which can only be changed through the Razer software on PC).
The padding on the ears is always cool to the touch and the cooling gel really does help avoid ear sweat during those long gaming sessions.
The headset is light enough that I sometimes forget im wearing it altogether, and the band is well enough padded that it is very comfortable on my head.
Finally, I think the collapsible microphone is a brilliant idea! I love the way it pulls in and out of the left headphone. My friends have already commented on how much clearer I sound.
Coming from a HyperX Cloud 2 headset that I really wasn’t happy with the sound I have to say the Razer Kraken X had me pleasantly surprised. The overall sound profile is much better than the HyperX Cloud 2’s, particularly on the low end and bass but they aren’t overly heavy (aka Beats by Dre).
They are comfortable to wear and the microphone is decent (not as good as the HyperX here though).
I dislike Razers software though so I will not be using their weird unlock code for the 7.1 download. Honestly this seems like a huge gimmick anyway. By comparison, HyperX had a USB DAC to handle the 7.1 and it also works with this headset.
I will say the biggest reason I got this one was because it was white and I just changed my setup to mostly white stuff.
Perhaps it’s just me but if I move my head quickly they tend to move around/almost fall off and need to be reseated on my head.
The sound quality is about average for the price range. They are on par with other brand name products. I won’t mention names here as this isn’t a competition.
I like the braided cable and the soft cushion ear cups. I can wear these for hours at a time without any pressure points or discomfort. *I’m used to in ear headphones*.
The in line microphone and volume control could be improved, the volume adjustment wheel doesn’t have a large amount of movement so the sound changes with very minute movements.
Overall I would recommend these headphones if you plan on music production or gaming. Though for any kind of sports or activities where you move around a lot I would not recommend these *thought they are aimed at gamers*
There is a code somewhat hidden with the code for an application on your PC. Follow the instructions and download it. This makes the audio sound way better and lets you use the 7.1 Surround Sound audio.
There is also another app which lets you hear the sounds in 360 degrees (works on selected games). It’s called THX Spatial Audio and it costs 10 if you buy this headset. It drastically improves the awareness and lets you hear and feel the game.
The headset has decent bass in my opinion but it doesn’t have a noise cancelling microphone (Doesn’t say anywhere). The mic sound is decent according to my friends.
I bought these for PC gaming, and they are good, but not outstanding headphones for that.
There’s a few things that stop them getting top marks..
The ear cups do get hot after a couple of hours use.. but they are comfortable and feel like they will last a long time.
The 7.1 Surround (you redeem a code in the box for an app on the razer store that does it digitally), is.. underwhelming.. I’d say.. useless.
The hidden glasses channels are certainly hidden.. I don’t wear glasses but I tried these with some sunglasses just as a test.. and there’s no hidden channel in the foam cups.. you can freely rotate them for one thing so the hidden channel would never line up with he glasses.. but if you just feel round it it simply isn’t there. Its foam all the way round.
One final annoying design feature is the 2 part cable.. firstly… why is it 2 parts? It just adds weight to the cable and an extra failure point. And second the 2×3.5mm jacks that go into the PC, the rubber moulded plugs is too small on the end to make removing them without being tempted to pull on the wire tricky..
Other than those small issues they sound OK, feel well built and light, and for the price you cant complain too much.
Pros:
Great sound quality
Fit on smaller heads (probably not children’s though)
Comfortable for me
Cons:
The first headset mic broke within a year
The second headset mic came dodgy and has never picked my voice up properly. Might be due to it cutting out background noise, and I might be too quiet for it to pick my voice up. (So not good for quiet gamers I guess)
For some people its uncomfortable on the ears to wear for a long time (not for me)

I have a small head and most headsets fall off me, this one fits me well, which is why I’ll always get this one.

Every aspect of this headset is fantastic; even the packaging that it comes in. When you open the box, it really emphasises the beauty of this headset and shows that you’ve bought something special.
In terms of quality, you really can’t get better for the money. The built quality is far superior to other branded headsets that my son has owned and the comfort is second-to-none. The ear cups are soft and “chunky” according to my son; which he loves. The sound is also crystal clear and you can really hear the depth of in-game music and sounds.
The cable on this feels really sturdy; almost a braided feel to it, but plastic? Whatever it’s made of, it feels like it should last. Likewise, the audio jack feels touch and has a premium feel to it.
Overall, neither of us can fault this headset. It’s worth every penny, especially so whilst on offer in the Black Friday sale at 42.99
The headset with a connecting cable, it has a functional mute button and a volume control dial on the cable. Alongside the headset, came another cable used for connecting the headset to a PC, the mic and audio cables.
Finally, I received some documentation, some stickers and a code for the 7.1 surround sound software – more on this later.
General aesthetic:
I received my order yesterday, they look great inside the box, extremely well presented. It feels nice, each part is well crafted, pulling the headphones down to fit over the head feels great, nice tactile feel.
The microphone is seated inside the headset, if you need to you can pull it and it comes out to about two inches over your mouth so plenty of space.
Audio quality:
I decided to try them out on the PS4 to see what audio quality was like, it is great. The cooling pads in the headset really make it a lot more comfortable especially when you’re in it for the long run.
Noise cancellation:
I have my music about 80% and there is some bleed, but this is to be expected with over-the-ear headphones, once I have my headset on, there’s probably no bleed at all.
Other:
The only thing that prevented me from giving this 5/5 was the fact that the 7.1 surround sound seems to be handled by a proprietary software that you need a unique code for. If I had bought this second hand I may not have been able to take advantage of this feature. Even still I don’t think it is true 7.1 surround sound, I think it is simulated from the software, so bear this in mind before purchasing a used set.
Final verdict:
Still worth buying, was cheap and just needed something to wear that is comfortable.
I was dissapointed initially, almost regretting my purchase, as set up on PC was a little painful and not as shown in the manual if using the THX dongle. There is also a download key printed on a card in the box for 7.1 sound which I assumed I had to install. It turns out you don’t and you manage the THX/Surround for the headphones in Razer Synapse alone.
Then, once the headset was working and software installed, I launched COD:MW and the audio was muddy and muffled. I could barely hear my own gunshots and everything just sounded wrong. That’s when I realised, by alt-tabbing out of the game to Synapse, the app (COD:MW in this case) appears here and I could change the audio mode for THX. Now it sounded better. Much better in fact.
Similarly anything I listened to in Chome – Amazon Prime Music for example – was faint and like I was missing parts of the audio track. Setting Chrome in Synpase to Stereo fixed this and then music sounded great.
At this point, once I was familiar with the set up in Windows, I’m more than happy with the headset. Changing the audio options for individual apps in Synapse – for Chrome (stereo), Netflix (surround sound), COD:MW (THX), etc – has meant the headset is working correctly and sounding good. Sound isolation is pretty good and I’m no longer being shouted at for audio-leakage as I do when using my open back headphones. Also the headset has remained comfortable over a 1-2 hour period of use.
One thing I don’t like though, is how much they have dug into the headphones and left deep marks meaning I can’t really wear my headphones without them on anymore as they have damaged the band. This is a bit frustrating as the Razer Kraken headphones aren’t cheap.
They’re also a little expensive for what they are, but I really wanted them so that wasn’t much of an issue, and since they’ve dented my headphone band I won’t be taking them off, so I am getting a lot of use out of them! I would recommend them if you’re planning to keep them on your headphones permanently.

With the THX software it’s still a good headset and worth the 46. If you can get a free EQ to balance it out then you will be happy but I highly suggest you pair it with the THX software!
The headphones were the best my son has ever used (in his opinion) he says the sound was great and trust me, he can not hear a thing when he is wearing them. I noticed they have now been reduced at a really good price. Even though ours broke they are a great price, great sound and are covered by Amazon. Can’t go wrong.
The headset is for my PS4 and I have had many headsets prior to this, usually, my son put them to the test and destroyed them quickly. Including TB x 2, Sony etc.
If it wasn’t the headband, it would be the ear cushions or the charging socket. Also had my puppy chew through a cable whilst I was playing once. So I think I have had enough headsets to realize a good and a bad one.
Anyway, received quickly from Amazon and packaging was good.
Took them out of the box, plugged the headset into the THX USB amplifier, and then into the PS4. Not quite plug and play as mic level was really low for a start. To be honest I am concerned about the level of this as when testing at full mic gain it’s only reaching yellow. So this might be an issue going forward.
In-game volume is good though and quality of sound is pretty much as I had expected for a mid-price headset, not brilliant, but good.
The one thing I am happy with is the build and comfort of the headphones, they’re not too tight but fit well. They seem robust, but light enough for a few hours gaming. My glasses fit well with them and are not pressed into the side of my head.
So all in all, so far so good for these.

Other aspects to this product:
The padding on the ears are comfortable but not breathable unfortunately. My ears became very warm after about 30-45 minutes of gaming. 3.5/5
The visual aspects of the Razer Kraken X is best described as sleek and simple. There are other variants for those who want more flare to their headsets such as the green, blue or kitty (pink) are just a few examples to note. 4/5
At first, I thought the microphone was a little to short and maybe wouldn’t be able to pick up my voice if I was talking at a inside room volume. To my surprise, when speaking in party chat, my friends immediately noticed I sounded more clear and there was no static or feedback. 5/5
The ease of use of this product, is just that! Very simplistic controls, mute mic and volume control. Once plugging the headset, I could see I could adjust how it can be used for gaming which is another bonus. 4.5/5
Overall, for the price you pay for this product, compared to other similar priced products, you would be finding th Razer Kraken X, the best for you buck!
These however so far have yet to cause new any grievance due to the headset themselves, that’s quite incredible. Not only are they not uncomfortable, I find them pleasing to wear, my ears feel comfy. More comfortable than without them.
Moving onto the microphone, the next most important thing for new due to using it for most of my communication outside of my close family, it’s replaced my Blue Snowball Ice, it’s just not worth the space on my desk as these work just as well if not better for cutting out noise. Maybe if I was doing a podcast or something, I’d expect more but for chatting and gaming, I love it. I use it for VoiceAttack and it picks up everything clearly despite my thick Scottish accent, that’s impressive.
Sound quality is really good for the price, surround sound is added through Razer’s own app and it works well with most games I’ve been playing.
Looks wise, not something I choose my gaming equip on but I got the white set and it goes well with my white keyboard and white mouse, I can’t complain, it’s a bonus.
The wire is well protected and long, it has nice easy to use controls. All round it’s a great but of equipment for a decent price.

Sound quality is fantastic for games, for music is kind of hit and miss but you’ll get a software equaliser to tune it to your own preferences. The headset it’s open back so you’ll hear your surroundings quite clearly. Friends have complimented on mic quality being great but really needs a pop filter as ‘s’ sounds will cause discomfort to people listening. 7.1 surround sound sort of does work but somewhat of a gimmick since it’s emulated in software, none the less quite cool to have anyway.
Build quality and presentation I’m happy with it. However cables do seem a bit on the thin side so time will tell how long these will last… My last Razer product was around 9 years ago now which was me deliberately staying away from them and moving to Logitech since my Razer purchases always seemed to fail soon after the warranty expires. I had a range of their mice, keyboards and controllers.
EDIT: Dec 2021 I’m still using this headset but as expected of Razer, these are starting to show signs of failing. In my case, it’s definitely the cable and depending on what I have on the volume controller dial it can sometimes cut off audio in my right ear cup.
I just rated the “Noise cancellation” category at 3 because it blocks some “noise” but it can be definitely improvised.
The headphones gave me comfort during long hours of playing games.
I just bought them because of a friend recommendation and I don’t regret it.
The overall rating is 4 stars because the cable gets tangled too often and is quite annoying but it might be only me, I have seen some reviews that they don’t have problems with tangling at all.
My boyfriend got the Kraken X Lite pair and is insanely jealous because mine are more comfortable!
When I listened to a sample gaming soundtrack I was blown away and made it my mission to get a set. I am not disappointed. I don’t game, 😉 but I do listen to music and audio files and use while watching movies.
What impressed me was the dynamic range of sounds. It seems to be easy for makers to add a booming bass range for impressive beats, and this in my experience is at the cost of the upper register. Yes, the bass is impressive, as are the top end bright sounds and middle range. i have yet to find something to disappoint.
The in line volume control is very sensitive. The noise cancelling effects work well. My son has used the mic boom and is happy with that, nice that it tucks away when not in use which is all the time for me. … Neither of us has yet used the remote or programmable features and we have had them a month now. Wow – could these headphones get even better? I also like the cloth covered lead 🙂
I would highly recommend these, can you tell?
Very sturdy and comfortable. It goes around the ear and it is very comfortable. I use it during work as well for meetings and listening to music so there are days when I have it on my head for countless amount of hours and it’s not getting uncomfortable at all.
The audio quality is great, very clear and it has good bass as well.
The retractable microphone is easy to pull out and push back in and has good sound quality.
The cushions are big and soft, with the extra gel padding, which is nice and cold when you put it on, and it helps not to sweat too much under it on hot summer days.
The metal frame gives it a very rugged feel extra weight to it.
The braided cord is a nice touch and the length of it is good. Not too short and not too long.
The volume control is a bit easy to accidentally move as it can snag on clothes with its teeth.
So yeah. I can only recommend this one.
