This game is a lot of product for the price (which varies A LOT so keep an eye out for a bargain).

The gameplay, like most RPG, is as complex as you want to make it, and it can be played as a single player game.

The instructions come in a decent booklet, and the die cuts and game panels are heavy duty with very good lineup front and back. The vacformed tray is a good thickness so will last as long as the game does. The figurines are beautiful- very detailed and true to the video game, and the six dice are a really cool design.

Overall I’ve zero complaints about this product but do watch the prices (bought for 57 but has been as high as 95)

4/5 only because the ammo dials don’t come with the correct clips. They have these strange plastic arrows. Other than that, it’s my first proper board game purchase and I’m hooked!

Besides the tiles being dark, the base game has 6 scenarios to play through and is really incredible, you can tell it was made by fans of the videogame and then if you wish to expand your game like I did, you’ve got the extensions B-files, Survival Horror, 4th survivor and both malformations of G.

simply this is the best board game ive ever played, superbly balanced, setup and thought out. the tutorial is also lvl1 of game (this is the run to RCPD) found this is a great way of starting a game as it is essentially getting used to the mechanic with you, very good only issue was despite the intelligent content of rules/tutorial book the sequencial layout itself was a bit of a sneeze, its all there but a fair amount of unessiary page turning, though over all fairly easy to pick up. not only was this game actualy better than any other board game ive played it was also ludicrously canon to the origanl 98 capcom game (a game that ate many hours of my life) to the point where, I could be wrong, but it looks like all the maps and items are in the exact same places the zombie killing techniques also carry over and that on its own is impressive, but the truth is that the detail of this game is just as impressive if not more so the the original! and that aint an easy feet. this is not only a single player board game (RARE) it is co op 4up with the possiblity of pvp (survival expansion). the only thing that i really have a problem with is the cost i got a lil reduced but it is a lot, I am a fan so i justified this as more practice for the forth coming umbrella outbreak. though its not cheap! oh no. it is funking good though, miniture look very cool also.

There’s only a couple of things that bother me, firstly, it’s a shame there’s no classic giant spiders in the game (though I can understand why), second, if you’re playing the campaign, I can’t help but feel you should be able to carry everything over between scenarios (per the rules you only carry over weapons, everything else goes back into the pool), but other than that it’s a great buy, the pieces included are strong and sturdy and the gameboard pieces are thick card, and there’s PLENTY of expansion packs to further the experience.

True to the feeling of the game. First senerio makes u think this game is easy. After that, every senerio will make u think hard about every step you take. Shoot, run, explore…. All can kill u. Having a blast playing this, feels harder then the video game

Negative part- board game is bland and hard to make out. Walls and doors are not any better. For the price of the game wish it was better. There are upgrades for the walls and doors if you want to look and pay but for the price tag of this game it should had been better quality

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wanted to pick up something else as in depth as the board game Firefly but I didn’t want to be doing the same things. The resident evil 2 board game fit that really well, it also has several expansions so we picked up to of them. With the base game completing the campaign with 3 people we probably got close to 20 hours of gameplay per person. The B-files expansion has several more campaigns we are going through now. I will see the rules are difficult to interpret to perfection at times. So we have a few things we were doing wrong that we just incorporated into the game. If you like resident evil you will appreciate the board game more but one of our buddies is completely unaware of anything resident evil related and he still enjoyed playing with us.

Simplemente me encanta.

I must open with a simple fact, I love resident evil 2. I loved it when I first put in a demo, stuck on the side of a magazine in 1998 into my PlayStation. Iloved it when I played the game over and over and over, absorbing every inch of the game. I loved it when I finally got the remake of my dreams on the ps4.
So it’s fair to say that I was likely to love or loathe this game.
What we have here is a near perfect translation of that original game onto a board. All the sense of intrigue, exploration and item hoarding is present. At any sense it feels like a smooth run may be interrupted by an unexpected attack so are full consideration is paramount.
The box is full of high quality cards, set pieces and characters. The instructions included not only aid the player in setting up a game with minimal ease but also has been designed in a manner that feels like a computer game.
Every aspect of this product feels like a genuine love letter to the resident evil game I hold so dear to my heart, and is truely a close approximation of playing that game.
The only small criticism is that the individual campaigns can take a long time to set up and may limit how many can be played in a sitting.
Reflecting on this review, I can feel that I have honestly undersold the game in every manner, but I would suggest to any fan buying this to draw their own opinions and once again experience the survival horror.

Easy to learn, cool minis, nice cards. The tiles are trash, which isn’t as big deal for the map as it is for the terrain. Plan on replacing every terrain part with 3D models or literally anything else.

The game is as wonderful as everyone else says in some of the other 5 star reviews, and I got it faster then I was “estimated”, ordered it on Friday, and got it Sunday (Somehow) when I chose free shipping to be Wednesday (Why I always never pick a paid shipping when possible, never know when it will just straight be earlier)

My only problem with this was that the box was damaged on the back of the box and corner of the top. 🙁 I understand that is also a price of it being free shipping, but i’d rather have had the game be here Wednesday then something that came damaged! D: Here is hoping that if my friends enjoy it with me enough and decide they’d be interested in continuing it with the Add-ons, that we don’t get the boxes as damaged!

Wonderful Game, Great Product, Fast but damged shipping

I was a Kickstarter backer for the game, and was about to finish the main campaign before the pandemic hit. Here’s a brief summary of the pros and cons after a year of on-and-off play:

    – Near-perfect difficulty level. Depending on how well you roll, enemies can be extremely resilient and more can appear from nowhere. As in the games, saving ammo and running where possible is always advisable, which lends to the sense of tension.
    – Great moments. The need to split up and the randomness of events can lead you into ugly situations that you barely survive (or don’t). I got stuck at one point in a three square room with two zombie dogs and had to fight them off with a knife for five or six turns.
    – Persistent campaign. Like a legacy game, you keep your weapons, health and certain items through the various levels, with decisions in earlier levels aiding or hindering you in later ones. There’s even a B-side expansion that allows you to continue playing Claire’s campaign after Leon’s.
    – Pacing. New enemy types and bosses are introduced gradually, and a timer (refreshed by using typewriters to ‘save’) keeps you on your toes. Games average about 90-120 mins but are full of action.

    Cons:

    – The tiles are extremely dark, and often won’t reflect the location you are actually in. This is something they’ve promised to fix for the Resi 3 boardgame.
    – The scenery and objects that come with the base game are also extremely dark, or made of flimsy cardboard like the walls (a critical component that I almost threw away when opening the box). The Kickstarter exclusive physical doors, chests, corpses etc improve the game dramatically, which is a shame.
    – The expansions are hit and miss. Some add mini-bosses which feel like they should be in the base game, while others (the Giant Alligator) feel badly optimised.
    – Game length. The setup is extremely long, and we often don’t feel like playing more than one scenario. That can be a problem if you die and have to restart, which does sometimes happen.

Overall though, this is a great representation of the Resi franchise, and a worthy translation of survival horror to boardgames. Our whole group (including Resi purists and people who hate horror games) has had a great time with it. I would say it’s a good pickup for any co-op or horror fan at the 50 mark, but if you’re unsure, consider waiting for the Resi 3 boardgame – it looks very similar and may solve some of these issues.

brigens, was die dunklen Spielplatten angeht.

The only negative I would say is the insert that steamforged used for this and the expansions to hold the minis and cards is awful. If you sleeve your cards, they will not fit into the insert that comes with the game. Feldherr sells a foam insert specifically for this game and its highly recommended if you paint your minis. We also got the B files expansion and the 3d doors from the steamforged website, the doors add a lot to overall feel of the game and replace the dark door tiles that come with the game. One of the funnest games we have played, and it will be the go to game for a while!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMan what a fun and faithful board game version of Resident evil 2. I love the gameplay with its attention to detail taken from the games. Pushing zombies back when they bite you, combining herbs, searching for supplies and the fantastic models made this board game an instant classic for me and my die hard resident evil fan friend. The models included are absolutely gorgeous and a very high quality cast. Definatly a painting project and it’s going to make this game even more of a treat to play.

    The gameplay.

Each player takes 4 actions to move, attack, search, open/close doors, trade or use items. Every shot or stab you make attracts zombies who are on your tile or on a linked tile so choosing to shoot is not always the best choice. Like the games you can dodge past enemies to conserve supplies but it’s not risk free as you have a chance to get you. Each tile has a specific color in the scenario booklet from green, yellow, amber and red. Yellow and up has random encounters specific to each scenario to spice up gameplay. Will nothing happen? Or will zombie dogs leap from the windows to chew on your leg? It’s a great risk reward system as often the dangerous rooms have the items or keys you need to reach your goal. Every turn is exciting and death is aroun every corner. Love it. After each player turn you flip a tension card to reveal either nothing or some horrible event. Reminds me of pandemics, epidemic cards. Low on health praying to see the green all clear. So even uneventful turns can end in disaster. Bosses actions are determined by a boss deck that mandates them to do their actions. Not a new system by any means but it works well.

I have only played the two player game and I really think the game was made for two players. I have read that more than two can be a problematic and I can see it. Go halfers with a sibling or other die hard RE2 fan and you wont be disappointed.

This game was clearly a project made by die hard fans, for the fans. If your a big RE2 fan and like dungeon crawler type boardgames this is for you. Seriously. Get it.

    It’s not perfect however.

The tiles are very dark to the point where you can barely make out what the scenery is supposed to be. No resident evil game has ever had such dark areas and the early demos of the boardgame were not so darn dark, I have no idea who decided to turn the contrast off but it was a bad decision. This also means it’s nearly impossible to see what doors are flipped open or closed. I had to use a silver script sharpie to write open and closed on each side. The tokens are often no better (especially looking at you corpse tokens). The “walls” they provide are just black strips of cardboard I almost threw out not knowing they were game pieces. Really, really bad. I ordered the 3d doors and terrain from their website out of necessity which is not cheap ($80 CAD) and should have been in the base game for the price.

    Speaking of price.

I love resident evil as it’s my favorite game series so forking over $100+ was not a huge deal to me. But that’s going to be an instant turn off for alot of people who are going to miss out on this awesome game.

While not perfect or for everyone. I will say with confidence that if your a fan of the game or series, you will have a great time.

    Gameplay- 9/10 (so good)
Models- 8/10 (just a tad small)
Board tiles- 5/10 (turn up the contrast!)
    Tokens- 4/10 (terrible)

its a tile build game where you coop with other players to search for item and the way out.
Enemy zombies and creatures can spawn on you or near you, you can either attack useing weapons or run and dodge your way through.
There are bosses and mini boss through expansions.

Klasse !

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a must buy for any RE fans, or fans of the tactical turn based genre. I haven’t been able to stop playing for 2 days. This game is so amazing that i bought all of the expansions for it, and when i complete the scenario booklet i will be moving onto writing my own custom ones.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersMy friends and I sat down to try this out at 7:30. Set up takes time, but we were fully engrossed, despite the fact that I was the only fan of the video games. Three scenarios and a few beers later, we realized that it was 1:30 in the morning. Time well spent.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFigure if write a follow-up! I purchased the board game back in early 2019 and still play it to this day! This game has high replayability with real tension and suspense. What’s also great about this game is that you never know what to expect and challenges each gameplay. I have also purchased every expansion pack and this game feels like a true resident evil game. My cons for this game are the dark tile artwork making certain tokens hard to see so playing under a light us recommend and setting up each scenario takes a very long time due to sorting certain cards for each scenario. Yes, the price is steep for the base games and expansions, but well worth it coming from a true resident evil fan!

Golden Review Award: 62 From Our UsersThere is so much to say about this game, but I will attempt to keep it brief.

    Pros:
    – The box, booklet art, miniatures, tile art, cards… okay everything looks UHHHMAZING! It is very true and faithful to the source material.
    – The game can create a serious sense of dread. In an attached picture I went into a room and rolled the dice and generated a corpse, normally no big deal. Next I go to the item with a corpse on it and nothing happens. Grab the item and roll the dice again and now every corpse in that room is a zombie. ‘Okay, 3 zombies… could be worse.’ Dodge roll and draw my tension card. Spawn a Licker in the room…. ‘Well, that went South REAL quick.’
    – Always a unique experience! I’ve replayed a few standalone scenarios with some friends, currently doing the campaign with my wife. Jumped ahead to 3A and 4A since that is where the game starts to get into full swing. The experience I had on my campaign and the experience I had on the scenario play were completely different. Sure it all starts the same, but going into a room on the first play through it could be empty. Then on your next play through the dice aren’t as nice and you spawn 2 zombies….. or worse.
    – Campaign Pacing. The campaign starts off and is extremely easy on 1A. Then 2A is still pretty easy as you are still getting the hang of things. The game keeps adding new elements, but they are all introduced by 3A. So you aren’t overloaded with rules and gameplay elements on the first scenario.
    – The game is 100% Co-Op and fun! This subjective, but the wife and I love playing this together. Talking strategies and plans constantly and what to do next.

    Cons:
    – Board art is great, but trivial and hard to see.
    – Walls and doors. Some rooms have walls in them and every connecting tile gets a door. It’s hard to tell if the door is open or closed, normally you do know though. Personally, I created my own walls out of foam board and doors out of another product. I purchased the 12 blank character pieces with colored stands and printed door pictures and spray painted the bases black and red. Need about 20 doors total though if you go this route.
    – Expansions are available, not required, but pricey. Roughly $100 for the base game. Then $50 for the B-Files, then $30 for each G expansion. Once again, not required to play the game and enjoy it. I have purchased every expansion available, but haven’t finished the original campaign yet.
    – Setup time takes about as long as the scenario. Between matching tile shapes, setting up the board, setting up items, shuffling your tension deck with the necessary cards, placing items, typewriters, zombies and corpses on the board, it takes quite a while. The scenario booklet does make it extremely easy to do, but it still takes upwards of 30-45 minutes to set up your first few scenarios. Once you get going though, the scenarios take roughly 1-1 1/2 hours to complete.

Overall this is an amazing game. It’s loyal to the source material and most of the Cons are more nitpicks than anything. I was first introduced to Resident Evil on the PS1 with Resident Evil 2 back in mid 1998 and have been hooked ever since. With the amazing board game and the amazing Remake, it’s a good time to be a Resident Evil fan!

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersIs the game fun and fair? Absolutely. Is it worth the base price of $115.00? I’m not so sure about that.

The game itself is phenomenally fun to play. I have not felt such tension in a board game except from Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition in certain scenarios. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy Resident Evil or Survival Horror based games. However, buyer be warned, the actual contents of the game are of lower than average quality.

The plastic miniatures, the map tiles, and even the playing cards are all more fragile than I expected them to be. The base game of Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition sells for $99.00 and the materials that come in it are far more durable than what this game has to offer. I highly recommend purchasing card sleeves for all of the cards. You will need around 100 Standard American card sleeves (63.5 x 88 mm) and around 60 Mini European card sleeves (44 x 68 mm) in order to accommodate all cards in the base game. I also recommend finding some way to reinforce the cardboard map tiles due to their fragility. I already had to apply super glue to one of them that split apart at the crease.

If you can get proper protection for all contents in the game, then you are set and ready to enjoy a board game based on Resident Evil 2!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDespite the carrier delivery issues, once these hit the local US warehouses I received my tracking details immediately. I ordered both the RE2 Board Game and the B-Files expansion, both were packaged very well and arrived in pristine condition. The timing matched up perfectly with the RE2 Remake on console too so I am one happy dude. Looking forward to my Malformations and 4th Survivor Expansions!!! Will continue to buy from these guys for sure. This game is super fun and filled with tons of hours of playtime even without the expansions!! Definitely worth the wai
