This is the first steam iron I’ve owned & got to say I would never go back to a standard iron. Bulky unit, but sits on the floor with the cable more than long enough to reach the ironing board, breeze’s through crease’s making short work of any ironing, mainly used to do three sets of school uniform & has more than halved the time of a standard iron. Very quiet as well as reviews I read on other steamers suggested many of them very noisy, but this one certainly isn’t. Great product, very happy & would defo recommend, worth its weight in gold!!

I did leave a long review before, but that seems to have vanished! This is, by far, the best iron I have ever used (and I’ve reviewed a lot!).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m so impressed with this steam generator and as with my 7 yr old one, same brand but lower quality one, where you have replacable filters. It irons even the most delicate of fabrics (SEE MY VIDEO IF PRESSING BLACK LACE). They don’t need heat settings, they’re fabulous and don’t burn delicates. I have always tested an inner part of delicates to be sure first of course but, not yet found anything that won’t press in all settings of steam! Of course, lace and delicates only need thr lowrat steam setting!
For me this ha been worth spending our money on! I love ironing, but not with ordinary old style irons! Most fabrics only need to be pressed on one side with this!

    Wowwwwww to looks and performance

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt takes quite a while to heat up, or it seems like ages but generally I’m quite pleased with its performance. The proof will come when i don’t have to keep cleaning it after 2 or 3 uses as its supposed be anti calc. i suppose it really depends on the hardness of water in your area.

Best steam generator iron I have had. The motor is quiet motor. The iron is light and easy to use. I live in a hard water area so I use a water filter jug to fill the reservoir for the generator. I do NOT add anything to the water (as per instructions) when the time came to clean the filter it was spotless. I have had three steam generator irons and this one is by far the best. I definitely recommend this iro

This is definitely not the cheapest Iron out there – but it has been designed really well for domestic use.

The water reservoir is huge, making it easier to power through large piles of ironing without having to stop/break your rhythm to refill all the time.

The hose is a bit stiff 8n comparison to most everyday all in one irons – but that’s a necessary burden for any design like this with a large reservoir built in to a separate base/cradle.

Temperature control is excellent. The Iron glides smoothly over everything I’ve had it tackle so far – it’s really easy to use and you do get used to the stiffer hose quite quickly.

This thing also works really well as a steamer for hanging garments and fabrics – something normal and cheaper irons can’t normally do well at all.

Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it’s definitely worth it if you do a lot of ironing at home.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a superb iron.
The only feature it is missing. is a locking function to hold iron in place for storage and moving. The grips are too flimsy on the plate and act more as a guide where to place.

I got this iron a while back and it still works as good today as it did back then. It’s a lot of money to spend on an iron, in fact, its more than I would usually spend, but after using the Iron for some time, the price becomes apparent.

The Iron is more quiet than any iron I’ve used before, and the filter can be rinsed and reused, which is fantastic news for those of us that have a habit of not replacing filters. It comes with a 1.8l water tank and this is enough to make me a happy guy, as I can now get through a whole basket of washing in one sitting while watching a movie. Top class.

And of course, as I have been accused of forgetting my own head if it wasn’t screwed on, it has a ten minute shut off timer.

Is this Iron worth the money, you bet your sweet behind it is 🙂

Wow. This Russell Hobbs steam pro iron definitely beats the rest! It has a powerful 315g steam which is constant and gets out the most stubborn creases. Much better than my previous 100g steam shot on my standard iron. I always struggled with the stubborn creases, especially in curtains and bedding yet this iron has made me regret not having one sooner. After ironing over them once the creases are gone. I have blackout curtains that feel like cardboard and it was impossible to remove even one quarter of the creases yet this has improved it massively and I only have a few creases left which are barely noticable.

I found it very easy to glide over the clothing due it’s ceramic plate. I haven’t found that it sticks to any fabric so far and I always iron a good mixture of materials.

It’s easy to fill with the impressive sized water tank that hols 1.8L water. Saves filling it up constantly.

It does seem strange not being able to select the heat setting but you soon get used to it. This iron has one temperature technology meaning it’s suitable for all fabrics.

You definitely notice the power on this iron. It’s 2750w which is very impressive. My old iron was only 2100w and ironing with this is so much quicker.

Ironing is no longer a stressful chore 🙂

This is by far the most expensive iron we have ever owned and we are unsure as to whether this is worth the money… and here’s why…

To be clear we can’t fault this iron it’s is lovely and it’s great to use but it, for us, depends on how you iron.

If you like us use the iron to iron a shirt in the morning before work – well when we used to go into the office that is… then this doesn’t represent good value as it takes a while to heat up and size wise this it’s a bit cumbersome and the iron feels a bit disappointingly small compared the size of the unit as a whole.

It’s a different story if you like to blitz your ironing and do it in one go.

What can I say…WOW! To start with the steam generator iron came very well packaged, secured and presented. I live in a very hard water area on the coast, so I was concerned about limescale building up in the steam generator, but when I saw the limescale filter in place I knew I didn’t have to worry. The filter looks very durable and high quality. The heating system also works by preheating the water so any calcium gets filtered out before entering the boiler compartment, which is an excellent idea. Another bonus is that you don’t have to worry about sorting through your different clothes, as it has an optimum heat setting that’s safe to use on all fabric types. Another good feature is that the actual iron is nice and light and easy to manoeuvre. I couldn’t believe how quickly this got through the ironing, it really is so much quicker than a standard iron! Yes it is expensive, but you get what you pay for, and I do think this is very well built and will last a long time. I am very happy with this steam generator iron and would recommend to others.

I have to admit, I rarerly iron. My husband irons his clothes but I am a slob and don’t bother! I do have a few dresses that do need ironing, so i tried this out on them and it was a dream… You don;t need to keep going over the same area, one pass seems enough for even the more easily creased material. My husband tried this and confirms it is much easier to use than a standard iron, and much quicker. I saw a review with someone using the iron to steam out creases on hung curtains…gave that a go and it was amazing! I’ll be doing that again!

It’s sturdy without being too heavy. It’s comfortable to hold, not too big. It takes up a fair bit of storage space but I think it’s worth it.

Crikey, this is an expensive iron! However, it is absolutely amazing! It does a fantastic job of my ironing and helps me to get through it very quickly. Previously, I’ve never spent more than about 40 on an iron but I have found that the more I spend, the better they work – although whether this is 6 times better than a 40 iron is questionable. Whether I actually need an iron of this quality is another question – a few shirts and trousers, that’s about it.

The water tank holds a good amount of water, easily enough for me to get through a week’s worth of ironing without needing a refill (and it’s easy to control the steam level, too); and living as I do in a hard water area, having a reuseable anti-calcium filter is a fantastic bonus.

I can’t comment on the claim that it’s 20% quieter as I’ve not used a steam generator before, but it’s not overly noisy.

Before buying though, think seriously about whether you generate enough ironing to justify the expense.

This steam generator iron is very good and, compared to any classic steam iron, it makes ironing way easier.
It’s fairly quiet but I don’t think any iron I ever had was much louder. The limescale defence seems working fine and I believe it will make a huge difference over the years.
The tank lasts ages and that one temperature technology seems working just fine, although I would prefer being able to adjust it.
Overall I think it’s a good steam generator iron, but it would be a bit better if it was slightly cheaper.

When it comes to irons it is something most people detest doing so probably begrudgingly pay for one and certainly wouldn’t dream of buying one this expensive.

The fact is it is a necessary evil (ironing) and anything that can make it easier surely is worth it.

This amazing iron does just that effortlessly tearing through this painstaking chore it is kinda on your clothes and the speed in which you glide through is an absolute joy.

The continuous system allows the steam to keep flowing and the generous water tank which filters limescale out (from the removable washable filter)

The ceramic plate glides through your clothes.

Really happy with the performance and it is worth every penny

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersTakes about 1.5 minutes to heat up and remember that this is a one temperature iron. If you need to adjust the temp depending on the fabric than this is not ideal. For my purposes, I need something quick to remove creases before work every day but it doesn’t have to be done immaculately. The weight and size of this iron base are considerable so it will only work if you have it in a fixed position, but the large water tank means that you won’t have to keep running to the tap for a refill. This means that actual iron is very light and slim, making the process quite fun and wrist sparing.

The steam is continuous and saves time as there is no lag or waiting time – there are also 4 steam settings to choose from. Ironing on a board is best but it is also possible to do it on a hanging shirt. The best method I found for this is slow circular motions. The iron is super quiet with regular hums to keep it heated/steamed. The steam output reduces ever so slightly if you press the button continuously but this is just me nitpicking.

I used this in London where there is hard water and limescale build-up is a big issue. The filter and technology have kept the limescale at bay after plenty of uses and this is removable which allows it to be cleaned.
The price for this iron is very high so I would only recommend this if you do a lot of ironing as it does make the process very enjoyable and efficient.

    Makes ironing even more satisfying!

This is an impressive steam iron, it not only looks impressive but is very effective and efficient. Ironing time has been cut in half not only with the pressing of clothes but the larger tank that doesn’t require filling as often, my life has just become that little bit easier and chores almost a pleasant experience. No longer do I need to replace a filter and descale as often as I did with my previous model, I simply empty water when done and take out the reusable anti calcium filter and rinse it off and replace. It is most certainly quieter than my previous model. It has three steam settings, I found the 1st setting was enough as at 3rd there was a lot of steam but this will be handy for other items. It has the one temperature setting which I found was great to use on all fabrics with no issues. My mum used it too and she said ‘I have used many an iron but this is the best one’ and she thought as it had a pointed nose instead of the traditional more rounded one that it was easier to manoeuvre around the buttons and areas that are usually more awkward with design of clothes. Mum said she could even steam heavier items like curtains on the higher steam setting vertically. When she talked about how much easier it was to iron she almost sounded excited about it and couldn’t help but point out all the positive features of the iron. From my mum and me I can definitely say this iron is highly recommended.

We have just moved home, so all the curtains have been folded in packing cases, and looked like a pile of jumble sale items when removed. Thankfully we have this Russel Hobbs Pro Iron, and having watched on reviewer steaming her curtains, I did the same, and my goodness what a different. It adjusts its temperature to match the fabric you are ironing or steaming, it’s an absolute joy to use. I detest ironing normally, but with this, it takes the chore out of the ironing. Excelle

As my previous iron was becoming unreliable and I could not clean the filter I decided to try this Russell Hobbs steam iron. It was easy to fill the water compartment and the filter was reusable. It is not a heavy iron but very efficient.

The controls are easy to understand and there is a red warning light that comes on when there is insufficient water in the reservoir. Although it says to use tap water as I live in a hard water area I always use distilled water for steam.

One other perk I liked was that on the side there’s a space to plug the plug into which helps with storage. On the other side you can gather the irons cord together and slot into the little catch again making sure the wire doesn’t get tangled or damaged.

When it comes to expensive irons I think it is one of the things we all look at and think…. why would anyone spend that much?

We would spend 200 on a freezer or a fridge… but 250 for an iron?

But in reality, in most houses, your iron probably gets a lot of time in use. So why wouldn’t you spend a little more for the best of the best.

This amazing appliance really does cut down on the time one of the chores we all hate.

Some enjoy with that said and I’m sure they’ll enjoy it even more with this.

It is a lot gentler on clothes, and a lot faster.

Steam is awesome and it gets through your chore much faster than a conventional iron.

Equally the plate on the bottom of this is really what sells it. No more sticking – it will just glide across.

Overall, very happy with this. And it really is a premium product through in and out.

I think it is worth every penny!

We have never had this type of iron before (with a steam generator) so I have nothing to compare it to and cannot attest if it is 20% quieter, but we don’t feel it is too noisy and in general is relatively quiet.

It has a number of impressive features: powerful 2750W with 8 bar pressure; safety dry tank alert with an auto shutoff feature; One Temperature technology safe for all ironable fabrics; advanced ceramic safe-plate; large, removeable 1.8 litre water tank with continuous fill; space-saving cord storage with carry handles for easy transportation; it is easy to clean with a reusable anti-limescale filter (essential in the hardwater area where I live); a handy cleaning reminder light; and an up to 3-year warranty.

But what is it like to use? All I can say is: what a difference this iron makes! It seems to make ironing so much easier and quicker as it removes the creases so quickly and without going over the same area again and again, and the steam function is so powerful that you can steam clothes in situ on the hanger. To sum up: it glides, provides an even and constant level of steam and adjusts temperature automatically — thumbs up all round!

We are really pleased with this product and feel that it is worth every penny as long as it lasts as long as the iron it has replaced (which we have had for a few years now). I will update my review if it fails to stand the test of time. I am happy to recommend.

Ironing is my least favourite chore but when I saw this new style steam iron I was intrigued and wanted to give it a try. And I can now say that I don’t hate ironing so much! The ceramic plate glides across my clothes with ease and without saturating them in water or having the iron surface sticking to my clothes.
The ceramic plate on this iron and steam technology is definitely an upgrade from regular budget irons. I got through my ironing much quicker, and I didn’t have to worry about changing any settings or pressing any buttons because the steam is constantly on. The whole unit takes up more space than a normal iron so you need to be mindful of the surface space you need.

One of the drawbacks of this machine is that you can’t use fragranced ironing water in it as it will shorten its lifespan which is a little disappointing as I like to use ironing water with nice scents. – It’s not a major issue but it should be noted.

I’m not too sure why the marketing has focused so much on it being quiet as I generally don’t find steam irons to be too noisy. *shrugs*

The bottom line is: If you want to make the chore of ironing easier and quicker this is an iron I’d certainly recommend.

I had a tefal steam generator iron from a few years ago that although it worked quite well had some minor niggles that made me not want to get it out. All these seemed to have been ‘ironed out’ by Russell Hobbs and this iron is really good to use. The wires are a good length and the main steam cord is easy to manage. I used to get in a bit of a tangle with the Tefal one. The tank is easy to remove and fits under the tap in my tiny sink. Holds plenty of water so you won’t be refilling much.
It makes a bit of noise when first warming up and then periodically when coming back up to temp but I could watch telly comfortably.
The iron itself is very small and nippy and the controls are very easy to use. It has easy to find handles for moving it around. The only thing that didn’t fell quite natural was putting the iron down to rest. There’s no danger of it falling but felt a bit precarious.
My ironing board is just a normal one and not really up to the extra weight so if you do a lot of ironing I’d recommend a nice strong board.

This is the future of ironing, it is quick, effective and can tackle all materials and all creases.

The iron is quite large, this is due to the large water tank which is needed to keep the steam flowing and the creases disappearing, it does use a lot of water to do this so the tank needs to be big to save you constantly topping it up.

The iron itself is not dissimilar in size to a regular iron, it is comfortable to hold and glides beautifully on everything I have tried it on – jeans, t shirts, cotton bedding.

Creases are blasted with steam and heat a disappear on the first pass of the iron – this speeds things up tremendously. I also found things like T-shirt’s only need ironing on the front, the power of the steam and the heat pass through to the back and straighten out the creases there too, this gets the job done much quicker.

Noise wise this is quieter than my previous steam generator iron, it’s not silent and I still needed to turn the tv up slightly ( everyone seems to watch tv while ironing !) but there is a definite reduction in sound.

I haven’t had to clean out limescale yet but I have investigated the cleaning system which is easy to access and doesn’t need any chemicals or additional expense.

I think this is a big jump forward in iron technology, it takes less time to get through the ironing pile, it is effortless to use and easy to maintain.

I really needed an iron because I didn’t own one so when this Russell Hobbs 24460 became available I jumped at it.
It certainly redefines the look of irons of history; no white or pastels here, it’s black, red and serious looking and I like that very much.
It’s a hefty device because of the large steam generator unit but the iron is a typical size so easy to manoeuvre; just be sure you’ve got the available surface space for the whole unit.
The user guide states that there might be temporary manufacturing residue burn off odours on first use but I didn’t detect any significant smell. I used Brita filtered water in the reservoir but it has its own anti-calcium filter too which can be cleaned.
Here’s the major difference between this and my 2 previous irons (long since gone): it has ONE optimised temperature and variable steam output; kinda weird but it works. The manufacturer states that their one temperature will be effective on all ironable items and based on my testing, yes, I agree; from shirts to towels to pillow cases it did an excellent job on medium steam power. That water reservoir lasts a LONG time and this iron really can do a lot of work before a refill is needed.
The soleplate is ceramic not metal and really does glide very effectively … it’s a very easy iron to use; impressive.
Hanging items such as curtains can be smoothed using just the steam output but I’ve yet to try that …
This is the impossible scenario of a VERY cool iron; at last my wrinkled shirts are smooth. Impressive!

Well, I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed ironing so much!
This iron makes a chore a delight.
It glides over the clothes – partly thanks to its ceramic plate – with ease.
It delivers a constant level of steam.
    It adjusts its temperature automatically.
Having used these Pro Irons about 20 years ago, they have come on in leaps and bounds.
But I don’t quite understand the marketing and need to put a sticker on the item to say “removes more limescale than Tefal” as if I’m going to brag about that to Mrs Collins at number 73…
Obviously, it’s just because it’s new, but I actually look forward to doing the ironing now!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is literally the best steam iron ever! Every so often it does make a hiss sound as it warms up but that soon stops and it isn’t ridiculously noisy. It steams everything very well. My review pictures are before and after I steamed my curtains, I also uploaded a video, seeing the creases come away is so satisfying to watch.
I ironed all of the clothes in my wash basket within 15 minutes. It was super speedy and there was no going backwards and forwards with the iron. It is absolutely the best product I could have hoped for and would definitely recommend it to others.

Watching the creases come away from my curtains is so satisfying!
