A terrific step-forward in ironing. Just need to fully read the instructions.

What an amazing iron, cuts ironing time in half, leaves shirts crisply ironed. It is no effort at all to iron. Clothes look immaculate when you have ironed them

This is the second-best installment of Russel hobs stationary irons. This is pretty much the same as the pro however is it 10% louder, produces 100g less stream, and has 1 bar less pressure. This is plenty for household steaming if you have a lot of loads to go through.

The steam production is plenty to tackle most of your clothes from a hanging position. The steam is powerful and can get through 2 layers of thin clothes. It’s great not to have to empty the water chamber often as you find with other irons. It also heats up very quickly and is the main reason that I use this. I don’t have a lot of loads to go through but I turn this on every morning to iron my shirt for the day. This is quick and easy to do (a few minutes).

If you have hard water then you will need to clean the limescale chamber otherwise the steam production will decrease. There is also a variable heat setting on this iron which is great for tackling the more delicate materials.

Very happy with this iron and if you do a lot of ironing – spending this amount will definitely be worth the struggle in the long run!

    * Pros: It puts out plenty of steam, and glides smoothly over the surface.

It really has cut my ironing time in half — you only have to go over each section once and it’s perfect, and it does two layers at once.

It’s not noisy enough to drown out anything else eg the TV, radio etc. And the noise is only when you press the button for steam, not continuous.

The iron itself is light, and you don’t have to press down hard to make up for that as the steam does all the work – this would be perfect for anyone who struggles with ironing eg because of a bad back.

The cord storage is good and tidy, even with a socket to slot the plug in so it’s not hanging loose — I wish more manufacturers would do this!

*Cons: the advertised size of tank is misleading, you have to refill it when there is about 1-2 inches left in the bottom because of the way the intake is designed — annoying when you think you have plenty of water left!

The base unit is quite heavy, I don’t think I’d want to put it on my ironing board, so I just keep it on the kitchen counter right next to the board and it works fine. If lifting things is a problem, you might think twice before keeping it any distance from where you iron.

The power cable is quite short.

You can’t stand the iron up on its end, and I wouldn’t want to leave it flat on the board because the stiff steam cord and slippery bottom might lead it to pull off. You might want either an ironing board with a tray/holder for your iron, or a clip-on cable holder if you like to leave your iron flat inbetween sections.

Overall — yes, I would recommend this and I think it really will make a massive difference to my willingness to get the ironing done! Totally worth the price to get a good one that does the job properly.

Perfect for home use, very expensive but it does iron out creases well

Great iron. Cannot say it’s lightweight but it’s really good. Tackles creases well

If you don’t already have a steam generator iron then get one now! You will love it. This Russell Hobbs iron is absolutely amazing. I didn’t think I had a problem with my previous iron until I tried this! I was so wrong. The steam is so powerful and creases are removed instantly without needing to repeat the same section twice. I have bedding that gets quite creased and this just glides straight through it. The powerful 350g steam shot is handy for the extra stubborn materials but the 200g continuous steam is powerful too. The large 1.8l water tank is easy to fill and I find the steam cable the right length so I really don’t have any complaints for this iron. Yes it’s pricy but I do ironing for 3 kids and 2 adults and this saves so much time.

    Pros:
    1. Quality of ironing is great, it’s just so professional!
    2. It is relatively easy to use, was worried it will be too complex to use

    Cons:
    1. It is huge. Storing of this device when not in use, is a challenge if you live in a small flat
    2. I have traditional iron and a small hand steamer. Have to say they are much more convenient to use than this Russel hobs big steam iron normal iron is perfect for shirts, the steamer is perfect for dresses and can be used when dress is on the hanger. This steamer iron needs an ironing board and could replace those two devices but will significantly more space

Overall I think product is good. Just the size is not good for me. I dreamed of this type of iron a while and I got kind of disappointed when I got it. It’s works well but incremental difference is actually not worth paying more and then having issues with storing the iro

Mixed feelings, works but it’s big

    Got crinkly clothes? Need straightening?

This is the Russell Hobbs 24470 Quiet Super Steam Iron with Quietsteam Technology 200g Continuous Steam and 350g Steam Shot 1.8l 2400 Watts 1.9m cord in Blue.

If you do ironing you will know how much of a monotonous task it is, I used to spend ages going over the same patch, limiting the amount of steam I used as I only had a small water revervoir. You have no worries if doing that with this, as you have a massive 1.8 litre water reservoir of steam! I do like how easily it glides across my shirts from its ceramic soleplate, also for hard to remove creases you have a choice of a 350g steam shot or 200g of continuous steam action. So from shirts taking me a couple of minutes they now take me 30 seconds, I kid you not! The continuous steam is a game changer.
The unit claims to be 10% quiter compared to previous model, that must’ve sounded like a concord taking off! It is a noisy unit, but who cares when it is this good?

My only moan is storage, it is good in its self with plug tidy but overall it is a huge unit measuring 29 x 44 x 33cm! You will also need a big ironing board!

Overall this product is a premium price, but it has shaved off 90 seconds per shirt and that is a real game changer.
If you are looking for a steam iron that is revolutionary and makes life that bit more easy, get this. Makes ironing “almost” a pleasure.
    Wholy recommended.

This is a fantastic steam iron, it’s so powerful and makes such light work of ironing even the worst things like my super king sized bedding. It’s on the large side but well worth making the space to keep this ready to go. I can seriously halve the time I spend ironing using this. It’s not heavy and I can use it for extended periods of time without having sore arms.

This Russell Hobbs 24470 quiet super steam is just great and working with no any errors. With 7 Bar Pressure and a 350g steam shot all at 2400W, this iron is big on crease-reduction and little on noise. You’ll see when it needs cleaning thanks to a reminder light function. Simply remove and replace the filter to prevent scale build up and maintain its performance. Has ceramic soleplate, power and temperature ready light, powerful steam action and 1.8 litre removable water tank. This steam generator Iron is amazing and doing really great job till now. I’d recommend to anyone for this really worth it price.

This Russell Hobbs steam generator iron is easily one of the best irons I’ve ever used. Not only does it look the part, it also performs flawlessly!

Steam generators can seem bulky in comparison to regular smaller irons which can be off putting for many space savers like myself. However after using this iron I’m happy to make room for it because of how easy it makes my life! It uses continuous steam and has a button to give a stronger burst which even the toughest creases can’t escape. The ceramic plate on it makes ironing even easier too, it flies over my clothes without leaving a single crease behind and does it so smoothly without any resistance or drag at all! It also has an anti limescale filter which will help prolong the life of your iron and prevent any build up. The iron displays a light when its time to clean so i’ll never forget to do it and always be reminded, no excuses now. Whilst it does say its super quiet, don’t expect it to be silent. It’s slightly louder than your regular iron but albeit much quieter than your average steam generator iron.

Overall a fantastic iron and I highly recommend this if you’re looking for superb quality and an easier life!

    pros
    1. Very easy to use and produces plenty of steam, makes ironing quicker and easier.
    2. The quality is good, lightweight, durable and robust.
    3. The cord/plug storage is very compact and neat.
    4. The water container is easy to fill and lasts ages considering the amount of steam being generated.
    cons
It is noisier than a conventional iron which can be annoying if you like watching TV while ironing and it takes a bit of getting used to in terms of the steam trigger.

    Good..

I’ve never used a steam generator iron such as this, so it’s been verily interesting to try it out.
The unit as a whole is surprisingly light, when not full of water, and is easy to carry thanks to two handles.
The water tank is large and very easy to remove and fill.
There is a clip on one side of the base unit for the cable and a slot for the plug, this makes securing the wire simple and makes storage nice and tidy.

The iron itself is light and easy to handle, the baseplate is wonderfully smooth and glides over clothing beautifully.
The black cable sheath at the back of the iron is stiff and makes standing the iron upright difficult, this may soften with time though.
Using the iron vertically is easy thanks to its lightweight and the range of the steam jets. It took the creases out of a hung dress in no time.

One last feature I want to mention is the replaceable limescale filter. If, like me, you live in a hard water area then this is invaluable.

So while this iron carries a hefty price, if you do a lot of ironing I think it more than justifies the price.

I hope you find my review helpful.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersTarget Market – This product is perfect for anyone with a lot of ironing to get through particularly those with large families, a wardrobe full of shirts, or crease-ridden summer dresses in need of a steam.
Quality – This is a top quality steam generator with a smooth as butter ceramic soleplate, gorgeous blue (darker than in the pictures) exterior, and a design that feels modern and sleek.
Experience and function – The steam generator was easy to get going. After plugging into the wall, filling the water tank and uncoiling the steam lead, I turned the machine on with ease using a button to the rear which lights during use. There is no need to wait for the water to heat however you will need to wait for the iron to heat to the prefered setting. The tank holds a generous amount of water and I found with a smaller load I didn’t need to fill the tank even a quarter of the way.
The advice in the manual says to start out with items which require a low setting first, then to increase as you work through. The light on the top of the iron will flash as the iron heats up and become steady once this is complete – I’ve noted a con below for this process. The main body of the machine is fairly heavy, I tried placing this on my board but the board did give a little so for safety’s sake I placed the machine on the counter; the steam lead was long enough to stretch to the very end of my board so this was not an issue.
The steam lead, to start off with, is very stiff but like most irons I expect this to loosen over time. The iron is petit and fits nicely in the hand, the glide is smooth and the soleplate works out creases like a dream aided by bursts of steam. The steam, it is advised to use in short bursts and once you use this iron for the first time you will see why. This generator is like no iron you have used before. The steam blasts out the bottom of the iron and does take some getting used to. I would advise to be careful when using this iron with other people in the room as when the steam comes out it comes out like a jet – this is listed in the con’s below.
Value for money – This iron comes in at a higher price point. Comparatively most steam generators appear to cover a variety of prices from low (around 40) to high (over 200) so for the quality and power of this machine I can see where that higher price point would come in. It’s also worth keeping in mind that steam generators generally look to have a lifespan of around 5-10 years (this is helped with the inclusion of the replaceable anti-limescale filter) compared to a normal everyday steam iron which has a lifespan of roughly 2 years. You also get a manufacturers warranty of 2 years and an additional year if you register.
Pro’s – A seemless steaming experience. Fast and efficient. Looks great and has a nice feel. Generous water tank which mean less re-filling during large loads. Auto shut-off safety function. Plug and lead storage.
Con’s – The steam lead is a little awkward, quite stiff and can get twisted when steaming. It is difficult to stand the iron up on it’s back end due to this which makes the iron a little unsafe if not rested properly. The steam button is very sensitive and due the power of the steam could be dangerous if using around others – I found keeping my index finger straight helped with this ie. finger off the trigger until you need it. The temperature control is also quite sensitive and I knocked it a few times whilst ironing so I had to check if it was still on the right temperature. The temperature light flashes initially while warming to the pre-set temperature, however, after I increased the temperature a little later to a higher setting the light stayed steady whereas I had expected it to start flashing again until set. Needs to be used on a solid surface so limits where you can use the appliance.
Overall – I think this steam generator will be an extremely useful tool in many households that see ironing as a chore. The machine itself functions well and the steam jet is powerful enough to get through any crease. I do believe there are some kinks to work out in the design which is why I have lowered my star rating, however I do believe this is a top quality product and will be a pleasure to use for most.

    Top quality product with kinks

I am super impressed with this Russell Hobbs 24470 Quiet Super Steam Generator Iron, my initial thoughts were ‘it’s huge’ but the base unit needs to be big to hold the generous 1.8 litre water tank that continuously feeds the iron via the long steam pipe attached. The base unit has 2 handles to carry it with the iron that sits on top. Under the iron is a panel that houses an anti scale cartridge, this can be removed and cleaned easily, just press the anti scale button on the base unit for five seconds to reset it. (If you don’t the base unit protests with a loud noise be warned). The unit has a simple on/off lit up switch along with a low water light and will flash when no water in the tank is present if dry ironing.

Filling up the tank is easy, it releases from the base unit and can be filled straight from the cold tap. The heat control is on the iron as usual. The iron gives out an impressive 7 bar of steam pressure, even cotton linen can’t stand up to this amount of steam and will iron out creases with ease. Tablecloths are so much easier and quicker with this steam generator. You can steam iron vertically too, perfect for getting those annoying creases out of new curtains, something I did recently to polyester curtains that had bad creases in, the steam worked like magic to remove them.

When you’ve finished ironing empty the reservoir tank and wrap the electricity cable around the base and plug it into the side, the steam hose has a side clip too to store it neatly.

I am very impressed with this Russell Hobbs Steam Generator, it is very quiet, lightweight to use and has super powerful steam output. Please see my photos and video, I hope my genuine review is helpful to you, thank you for reading it.

    Wow! Amazing Steam Power!

I have to say that I’m usually an iron only if it absolutely needs it kind of person, but this steam generator iron could well change that

For a steam generator iron it’s actually quite light, there’s a handle at both ends of the base so it’s easy to carry and move about, there’s a clip at the side to place the cord and a socket to place the plug in when it’s not being used

The water tank is at the front and easily removed to fill up with tap water, there’s a max fill line just at the front

The iron sits snugly on the top, even when the generator is being moved about

The iron is pretty quiet for a steam generator iron and is fairly light too which is good. The dials to change the heat are just under the iron along with the button for the steam

When using this steam generator iron its best to have an ironing board that is suitable for these irons as the normal ironing boards might not be strong enough, I’ve just ordered a new board with a shelf on the bottom for this iron to go on, especially as I realised my old ironing board was actually over 30 years old

I’ve just ironed jeans, work clothes and shirts for the week with very little effort and could easily have carried on and done more

This steam generator iron is obviously larger and more expensive than a normal steam iron, but it is so much better and cuts through ironing with ease, if you do lots of ironing then this iron is ideal as the 1.8L water tank saves you having to constantly refill the water tank

I have to admit that this iron has won me over, I’m really impressed with the performance and have no hesitation in recommending i
