Good simple flatbed (no turntable) microwave which is easy to clean. (Pool of water can’t build up and be hidden under the turntable)
Not keen on the mirror finish as I didn’t need a mirror.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersHey guys, I AM BLIND I use the computer with the aid of specialised audible assistive software. (NVDA)
I bought this microwave for a couple of reasons, first of all, it’s SIMPLE hey come on if a Blind guy can use it YOU CAN!
Nah then you folk that use a standard microwave, have you noticed that sometimes the plates are too big or if they have squarish corners it keeps making that knocking noise because it can’t go round, rectangle-shaped casserole dishes can also be impossible but now I have this `Flatbed` microwave there’s no messing with turntables that keep coming off the twirly bit (you know which bit I mean I just can’t think of another way to describe it)
Cleaning – Easy Peasy a quick wipe out with a cloth after each use, no come on `If I can do it, so can you, don’t be lazy`
Bottom line is I totally recommend this to all VIPs – oops VIPs = Visually Impaired People and of course all you poor unfortunate able-bodied folk too lol

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe bought this microwave for our 94 year old mother to use with ready meals which she relies on quite a lot. It is important to her for the microwave to be easy to use, to have clear and very visual buttons (only four to worry about) that are easy to press. There was no turntable inside which made giving the inside a clean and wipe out very simple to manage. Absolutely perfect for an older person to use.

Love this microwave. Was originally put off with the basic controls so looked for something else….then I realised I don’t need all the other options I never used with my old microwave. It’s simple to use, heats the food well, can fit bigger cooking pots inside and it’s easy to clean and keep clean. Would never go back to a turntable microwave after having a flatbed.

This isnt completely flat as it has a kind of seal around the bed. Its still much easier to clean than a carousel type tho. Lots of room inside and very easy to use. It doesnt have a clock tho. Shame as it means i have to switch it off at the mains or see 0:00 most of the time. If I need to buy a cheap microwave in the future then this will be a major contender. it would be hard to find anything better for under 100

Good looking and because its flat (doesnt rotate) means you can put larger things in. Very slight criticism is that the quick use function isnt just one button, you have to press two buttons.

When we sold our house the buyers asked for the microwave. It was perfect for us, so at our new home we bought another exactly the same. It’s capacious, easy to clean and simple to use. The inside light started to flicker after 11 months and Russell Hobbs replaced it with a new one. This did require a couple of emails but Russell Hobbs rightly arranged collection and delivery at their expense. Excellent product and service. Thank you.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersLovely looking microwave with easy pull mirrored door and 4 simple commands. The Flatbed is so easy to keep clean if you have any spillages. No turntable or glass dish to keep fixing like in my old microwave. It’s a bit difficult to see inside so if heating liquid keep checking it. I have also learnt to keep the door open for a while after heating to allow any steam out, as this is what ruined the inside of my old microwave (rusting). It’s slightly larger than my old microwave so make sure you check you have enough worktop to place it on. Mirrored door is not an issue if you use the handle so no sticky fingerprints. So much easier to use than the other microwaves with 10 or more buttons/functions which you never know how to use! Love it’s simplicity and style.

    Smart & Simple

I love this microwave. I needed a new one, my last one having expired and I had never even heard of a flatbed microwave. After a little research on the very useful amazon reviews I decided that this was clearly the future.
It is so beautifully simple that anyone can use it. No more messing about trying to find that power level and all the superfluous nonsense that any sensible person hasn’t got time for. I love the fact that you can put a large rectangular dish in there or microwave more than one dish at a time! Can’t imagine why this hasn’t been done much sooner in the commercial market. You barely need to read the instructions, just press and go. Mint.

The flatbed microwave is the best one we have ever had in 40 years..in fact since they first hit the shelves in ‘Bejams’.
It’s a good size for starters.
Secondly it’s incredibly easy to clean.
Thirdly even us oldies can operate it without feeling we need a degree in technology. Easy peasy.
    Heats up and cooks perfectly.
    Looks the biz too.

Purchased for my disabled father who has troubled get things out of conventional microwaves as always knocked the glass place off its setting. This is ideal allowing him his independence. Bought the basic control model and again ticks all the boxes. Had a commercial one of these at work and never knew they were available for household use. Will get one as soon as mine wears out. So easy to keep clean too. All round grea

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI bought one of these elsewhere (slipped up there, didn’t realise Amazon stocked it ) and was so impressed with it, I encouraged my parents to follow suit (from Amazon ). It’s simplicity is its selling point. All it does is cook and defrost. None of your fancy automatic cooking, etc, which usually fails anyway! Each press of the cook/defrost button adds 30 seconds to the time. If you want, say, 70 mins you just hold the button and it increases the time faster until you reach the desired time.

It’s a flat bed – something that took some getting used to! – which means that you can utilise the full space. REMEMBER, though, that you cannot place plastics directly on the bed as it gets hot. It’s important to put plastic containers on a plate or something first, otherwise get used to using glass containers like I have.

The oven itself is totally sealed (ie no exposed heating elements) so it’s ridiculously easy to clean.

Finally, the mirror finish on the door adds to the modern style of the oven. I have read of people managing to smash this glass through clumsiness so again, be aware that it is fragile!

Needless to say, I highly recommend this simple oven – no unnecessary bells and whistles – and my parents are getting on well with it too.

Highly recommended and at a good price too.

Hubby and I have bit the bullet and bought a microwave (haven’t needed one for the 6 years we have lived together). However, we have a baby due very soon, and have bought a microwave steriliser for the assorted feeding stuff. (We concluded that buying a microwave steriliser and a microwave would get more use than paying a similar cost for a steam sterilising unit just for baby things)

Considering the high probability of us being sleep deprived when using this microwave, it only having 4x buttons is a bonus! I suspect our first few weeks may also involve re-heating food parcels dropped in by family 🙂

We wanted a larger unit as the steriliser has a larger diameter than a standard dinner plate (friends with the same steriliser have warned us it doesn’t fit in their standard-size microwave).

The flatbed design is great, no fiddly rotating glass plate. Super easy to clean the inside.

It did arrive from Amazon in a stupidly too-large box with oodles of extra packing; but the product in the RH box is well protected for transit and nice and snug.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy previous microwave suddenly stopped working after many years so this was bought as a replacement. I wanted a really simple heat and defrost microwave, as I’d never used the grill/convection/autocook functions on my other (very expensive) one. I was intrigued by the idea of a flatbed one because I hoped it would be quieter (it is!). The controls are very easy to use, just about foolproof, and there are no dials or anything protruding other than the handle so it will be easy to keep clean. It works perfectly and heats/cooks more evenly than the turntable one I had. I tend to use it for heating up soup, making porridge, cooking vegetables and “baking” potatoes and it’s perfect for this. I’d say that it would be good for people who have problems with complicated instructions and controls. Others have mentioned that the 5 beeps when time is up can be annoying but I didn’t find them overly loud and the beeping was more effective than my previous machine’s single beep.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersBest microwave we’ve had to date. This is the first one we’ve had without a turntable and it’s great. It has more space inside and no issues with things not being able to turn. It heats evenly and is quick and easy to clean. The controls are easy to understand and use without needing to go back and read the instructions. The mirror finish is sleek and designer in appearance which has raised some positive comments from visitors. Very happy with the over design and product. I don’t intend to get another turntable type microwave ever again.

Large. Can take large dishes/containers. Does not always cook evenly, particularly for items placed away from the centre of the cooker, although this can be solved by moving everything around halfway through the cooking process. Generally pleased.

After several months use, I would say that all the above still holds true but experience of using other microwaves has accentuated the drawbacks of this one. Although it is large, it is comparatively underpowered for its size – so you can put a lot in it, but the more you put in the longer it takes to cook (which defeats the object of it a bit). Also, the more you put in the more uneven the cooking seems to be, compared to similarly sized ovens with a turntable, so we tend to put less in (which means we would have been just as well off with a smaller and cheaper turntable one).

Good size for a family of 4 without taking up too much counter space. Lack of a spinning plate is a real boon! You can use square plates, bigger dishes etc. Also means you’re not having to continually re-seat the plate onto its runner. Should be much easier to clean too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery simple no farfing, Just four button operation, microwave, defrost, stop/ rest , and start. And also there is no moving parts, super easy to clean. So for this it a bit on the expensive side, but worth it.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersGood microwave. Simple and works very well. We like the fact that the display switches off when not in use. I think it is advisable to turn food at some point when cooking – because of lack of turntable some food can stay cold on one side.
The number 1 on the digital time display played up within a couple of weeks, and now shows only the bottom half of the figure. It’s a bit annoying – but doesn’t affect the efficiency and not worth sending back for.
PS. Stopped working completely after 8 months. However, rang Amazon and new microwave – same model – arrived next day and old one taken away. Full refund. Very pleased under circumstances.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am very pleased. It looks good and does the job. It is refreshing to have an appliance that just does what you need not have a load of unnecessary complications. I want a microwave to cook fish and vegetables, and re-heat stuff. This is perfect. The added attraction of no silly turntable to fall off its wheels is the icing on the cake.

First impressions are great. It’s sleek and elegant, and if all you want is a simple microwave to quickly reheat food with minimal fuss then this is the one. If you have never had reason to change the power setting of your microwave nor used any of the functions on your old microwave besides hitting time/start/stop, then this unit is targeted precisely at you. By giving up features you don’t use, you will get a nice easy-clean flatbed unit with no moving parts at a very reasonable price point. For a 800W unit it’s certainly heating faster than I would expect too. Smaller plates of food are often piping hot within just one minute. I will say that I have gotten better results for bowls of soup with the old turntable microwave but I would tend to prefer the stove top for liquids anyway. I will call out that one area in which it does not perform quite so well but for regular plates of of food, I have had very good results so far. On the whole, a great buy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest microwave ever. No glass plate to contend with only a flat glass bottom, so easy to clean. Although it has no clock that’s not a problem. Only 4 touch buttons to deal with, timer in 30 second sequents, defrost, pause and start button . The illuminated timer turns it self off a few seconds after use. It’s looks fab on my worktop with its shiny mirror front.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersThis is a simple easy to use microwave. It is easier to use being a flatbed as you don’t have the problem of the turntable keep coming of the lugs and it also gives you more room especially for oblong dishes as they don’t need room to turn round inside. It is also easy to clean on the inside. The light gives good viewing of the cooking and it cooks well.
The only downsides are it shows all the fingerprints on the outside and it rattles when it is cooking {I assume it is because the dish is directly on the metal base} these are only minor issues and I haven’t knocked any stars off for them as I still think it is a great microwave and would recommend it.

Also just for reference it says in the manual that it needs 30cm clearance above the microwave and 7.5cm at the sides which I didn’t see anywhere online before buying.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOnly a 700 Watt microwave but works pretty much the same as an 800 watt one. Since buying this I’ve found that most ready meals have instructions for 800 and 900 watt microwaves but not 700, but if you just follow the instructions for the 800 watt one it’s fine.

Best of all, no stupid little plate to keep coming off its runners!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our Userslooks weird with food not spinning. 700w is very very noticeably slower than 800w. Love the easy of control. bonus of no clock, just press the “30 sec” button as many times as needed.Great looking microwave that is WELL LIT INSIDE when cooking. I dont know why anyone would complain about its inside light.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersGreat microwave. Nice flat bed, no turntable. And the controls are near perfect. It’s so easy to set the time for defrost (40% power) or full microwave. It defrosted 400g of chicken breast portions beautifully this weekend, and has worked equally well for cooking veg side dishes like peas or sweetcorn.

I think they could have reduced the controls to three. I would prefer the microwave to come on automatically two seconds after the last change to the time. But I’m sure I’ll get used to hitting the on button in time. Not enough of a quibble to detract from the 5* rating I’m giving it.

One big advantage over our old machine (an all-singing, all-daning combo microwave/oven/grill which we never used in the other rmodes) is that there are no ventilation slots on the top that have to be kept clear.

Our last microwave was on it’s last legs, so it was time for an upgrade.

We wanted a simple, flat bed microwave. These are great, as you can fit rectangular sized dishes in easier than in a normal microwave.

The functions on this are great. They’re really simple and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy very first Flatbed microwave oven was a Philips model, the only one of that design on the market at the time. It lasted 20 years or more. When it finally broke down there was nothing to replace it apart from the cheap shoddy, rotary, space greedy models that became the norm. I bought three all told, each barely lasting it’s minimum guarantee period. At last the flat beds are back, only one prob, made in you know where, remains to be seen if it matches the quality of my original.

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersMy old microwave was a russell hobs 700 w manual with 2 dials and turntable . very basic … it was a light build.. it was ok but when my dad asked if he could have it i jumped at the chance to upgrade. Initially I thought I’d get a panasonic but when i really thought about the functions that i wanted in a microwave i realised that it would be a waste to get a combi or one with many functions… then I discovered “flatbeds” which immediately appealed to me and after a lot of reading reviews and narrowing it down it seemed that this model was the best one for my needs. I was cautious because it was another russell hobbs but the build quality and weight of this one is much better than my last one. it’s also slightly more powerful than my last one , only by 100 watts by it shows. no turntable .. i love it ! i’m very happy with my choice but have to deduct one star for the overly loud 5 beeps it makes when its finished .. I managed to silence the buzzer myself but a simple on off button for the beeper would be an extremely popular addition.

I do like this product. It is all it sets out to be – it has four straightforward programmes and does exactly what you wanted. However the simplicity doesn’t limit its use in the kitchen. I have had microwaves which many functions but found that I simply didn’t use them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you want a microwave that is easy to use this is the one. It basically has timer in 30 second intervals,Start, Stop, Microwave and defrost.
You set the time press microwave or defrost and away you go. There are no fiddly buttons like full power etc they are just either full power or defrost.
Previous microwave had all the bells and whistles but they were never used. Flat bed is so much easier than a plated one as more dishes fit in side it and easier to clea

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this microwave to replace our current one as our baby steriliser wouldn’t fit in it. I love it. It’s so simple to use. There are no hard to understand functions. I would definitely buy again and would recommend to anyone who just wants a microwave and doesn’t need weird and wonderful settings and functions. I also love that it doesn’t have a rotating plate. This means our square plates finally fit into a microwave. It ticks all the boxes.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersWe have had microwave ovens with digital controls for very many years but they have always, always had functions that we didn’t need and never used. This is the ideal microwave as the controls are very simple eg cook or defrost. The lack of turntable doesn’t seem to be a problem as the food is evenly cooked. highly recommended
One thing to watch is the external dimensions as this is a large unit. It also needs clear space above, behind and at the sides in addition to the dimensions of the unit itself

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery easy to use and does the job expected from a microwave. Defrosts and cooks evenly, fits my awkward square plates, very sturdy and can tell is good quality. It looks lovely in the kitchen and goes well with my stainless steel appliances. Bonus also of it being really easy to clean. Recommended 🙂

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis item was delivered promptly and on time within a one hour delivery slot.
The packaging was good with interesting pictures and handy handles inside the box for lifting.
Instruction booklet was easy to follow, I like the fact that the important safety information was in large print and easy to read.
This item is very straightforward to use. Just four large buttons clearly labelled. Nice modern sleek design and I really like the modern mirrored effect to the door. Exactly what we were looking for. Like the fact that there is no turntable so very smooth finish inside and easy to clean.
5* item for me, I would recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGreat microwave, looks stylish and modern, fits in well with my grey kitchen. So simple to use with just the 4 buttons, a piece of technology even my mother won’t get confused by!

It came with a few recipes, I’ve done the cake in a mug and it came out perfect!

Super easy to clean as it has no plate, though it is a bit strange to not see your food spinning but you get use to it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI purchased this microwave because we needed something simple and easy for home… Well this microwave definitely is easy to use and is exactly how it is described – 4 simple buttons to Microwave, Defrost, Start and Stop/Cancel. It looks great in our kitchen too especially with the mirrored front. My mum really likes the fact that it has no turntable so she can now fit her square plates perfectly and tells me that its much easier to clean too! All in all a great, simple yet stylish microwave by Russell Hobbs… I highly recommend….
