A good value, simple to use microwave that looks great in my kitche
I bought this for 4 reasons: It was analogue and simple, it was affordable; it was by a good manufacturer and it looked nice. To my great pleasure I’ve found this to be a very well made and solid machine and very easy to use and really reliable. Highly recommended – there is a lot of badly made and overpriced rubbish out there, this is the complete opposite!
It was a house warming gift for my daughter and partner! They thoroughly loved it!
Great if you want a basic microwave, which I did. It fit the bill perfectly.
Was bought for a gift for my friend, she is totally happy with it.
Great to use as an emergency
Fine for 1 or 2 people
Not for more
Bought for a relative who was after a basic function microwave – serves its purpose well and looks smart although the fittings do look quite plasticky – would look better if chrome but presumably it would cost more!
Nice looking microwave love how easy it is to use only draw back is you cant see whats inside as the light isnt good
There are three things I found irritating.
1. There are no seconds on the dial, so have to guess when it’s ready if in, say, for 3 1/2 mins.
2. No light when it’s operating.
3. There is no clock
Too basic a machine for me, but too late to return it. However, it will be fine for some people’s needs.
easy to use. good for a couple or small family
I needed a microwave but didn’t want to spend a lot, and it worth it a lot for that price! You don’t need to spend more money.
Looks fab in my kitchen! Love the colour and it’s ease of use!
Excellent product, very cost effective, if Amazon keep their prices modest! Every home should have one, especially for people who simply want to heat and go! One simple setting and PING!
Like every thing about it. Easy to use and clea

The informed me that is very good and they are very pleased
The item was value for money, very easy to clean.
This product is very simple to use, and is ideal for someone who uses a microwave for heating up only.
Looks very smart – a very nice design.
Mostly use it to re-heat stews and soups, works fine, easy to use.
he product is fine but cannot register because you do not have rhmm 701r on the registration form
This is a great microwave and definitely value for money. My only dislike is that there is no light inside.. but it’s not the end of the world lol
Such a great looking Microwave, nice sleek design and good size. It powerful and easy to use.
Also really easy to clean and wipe down. Like that the vents are at the back so can make use of the space above.

Just what I needed a basic microwave but never thought to check if it has a light and it doesn’
I would have preferred the first 5min timer was further apart as sometimes difficult to set 1 or 2. minutes. But other than that it’s great.
Russell Hobbs is a good brand name. Tough and Reliable.
Regularly clean with a jug of water and a dash of vinegar, allow to steam for two/three minutes, then wipe with a paper towel. This keeps the appliance in tip-top condition, and it’s more hygienic!

Nice Microwave oven. Very simple to use and just the size I needed.
Did what it said on the box, inexpensive an easy to use.
It’s exactly what I wanted, and looks good to boot!
No timers or unusual cooking procedures just turn the knob and cook on what you need basic microwave all that’s needed
I bought this for my dad who is late 70s, he needed something very easy to use. He says its the best microwave he’s had!
Very good easy to use microwave, just what I required.
So far so good. Seems a little over zeleaous with the cooking, spuds cook very quickly… but I like it. It looks great, door is a little feable but i guess its cheap and cheerful. I would buy again though.
For some reason it causes a burning smell and burn marks on the base of a jacket potatoes when on medium heat and top of the potato was still uncooked – had to clean it with bicarbonate soda to get rid of the smell. Thought it was a well known make and should have been ok – never had a problem in the past with old microwave.

Required to warm dishes up while having kitchen replaced when oven etc. out of service. Great little microwave. Easy to use and clean and very compact. Now use it alongside our larger microwave.
Heating food and drink and cooking is a pleasure in your Christmassy looking microwave
I purchased this Russell hobs microwave for a surprise for my girlfriend as her previous one was showing it’s age? Twenty years old and of a different manufacturer? So far she has been using her new microwave nearly everyday for the past few weeks and has had no issues or indeed problems. It’s a basic model which is really easy to use and she finds it great to reheat various homemade meals from her freezer. The real test I feel will be over the festive season when it really does show it’s worth while purchase.
We haven’t used this yet, as we’re still looking for the right location in our kitchen. This microwave has side vents and our previous unit had top vents. We are currently very frustrated by the unpeelability of the label stuck on the front. You would expect a readily peelable one, so you don’t scratch the beautiful shiny new front. Sadly not. We will live with the half peeled label, until we hear back from Russell Hobbs about how they recommend we get it off!
It’s a microwave that microwaves, ideal for what we need and easy to use, clean and the price was good, couldn’t ask for more
I really like this little microwave, the colour is lovely, the design is retro modern like KitchenAid but on a budget, really easy to use with one dial for time and one dial for power, no faffing about with presets and buttons. Love it.
Looks good works well, reasonably quiet, what more could you want.
This worked really well on our 2 week road trip. Powerful enough to do what we needed without any issues of tripping the power (UK sites). Fits a full size plate.
I will update this review if anything changes and I run into problems with my retro cream R&H microwave. However, for now it looks great and runs perfectly. For someone who has poor eyesight and arthritis in fingers, the twist dials for the power settings and timer are a great relief in this digital world where everything requires finger dexterity and finding your glasses before you can operate anything!
The size is perfect for my small kitchen, I would not have fit a larger model in.
The only thing I will say as a heads up is to check you have the head clearance (30 cm) and side clearance (7cm) when the microwave is in situ or like I do, just slide it out a bit from under the overhead cabinets before using. Like any operating machinery, not following these instructions could compromise the function or damage the microwave- it has vents on the side which need the 7cm clearance and can get hand warm on top, so needs head clearance to prevent overheating.
It makes a normal loud microwave hum but if it starts making an unusual noise or accumulating an excessive amount of steam, I would stop using it immediately but, early days, so far it is a great and attractive addition to my kitchen, matching my R&H toaster as well as my retro cream and chrome kettle (of another brand).

Bought this as a kitchen set , the colours don’t match with the toaster and kettle, we are highend holiday cottage , I went out and bought another set from the Range
For a simple microwave this is a great buy, it is what it is, it arrived in good condition with no issues and does the purpose it says, my only gripe would be that there is no light when you’re opening the door which is sometimes useful to see where any parts are that need cleaning, but it’s a simple microwave so what do you expect, it’s working well and I’m happy with the value for money it’s probably one of the better one to go fo

My eyesight was poor, when I first used it. I need someone to say temperature is botton dial, time is top dial. Usually, microwaves are opposite way around. It works brilliantly, on med high, I’ve found.
Item is worth considering.

bought this for my mum as she wanted red to match her kitchen and ease of use product as she’s not very tech. ideal for her small and compact and uses to heat up only she loves i
Bought for its simplicity, why do you need all the fancy gadgets when all you want is to heat a product. 2nd time purchase, first one lasted 2years and inside rusted from condensation.
We like this microwave but it has one small drawback ,the door glass is tinted black and you cannot see how the item is doing in the oven.
Bought this for my 87 yr old Mum , its dead easy to use , no frills , two dials one for power setting the other for time – what more do you want from a simple microwave.
Fantastic. Have to cook things a minute linger than stated on most things due to the size and power. But that’s fine. Looks stylish with an air of vintage. Worth the money!
The microwave arrived damaged as seen in the picture attached.
It is easy to use and it’s easy to clean and it goes well in my kitchen, it’s good value for your money and it’s a compact size it’s ok for 2 people and one perso
Bought for the colour to match other items in my kitchen. Easy to use as there’s not many features. I haven’t actually had to clean it yet but I don’t think it’s going to be a problem!!! Quite pricey for a basic microwave but it was the colour I wanted.

It does what it says on the tin. I’ve been using it for over a year. It’s a nice colour red too.
Perfect for my elderly parent who wanted simple usable easy device. Good price.
Very happy with this purchase.
Slightly smaller than my previous microwave, which is actually better for me as it takes up less space on the side!
Have had for about 2-3 weeks now, and touch wood — no issues. So would happily purchase again.
The colour also matches well with the seperate Russell Hobbs toaster i purchased.
Great product and looks great ,would like the light to stay on when you open door.
Just the right size for my family.. had a massive one before and it tuck over my workspace and I wanted one that looks nice but small enough and this does the job
First microwave arrived had a few problems with that amazon guy was amazing I spoke to arranged uplift and replacement in 2 days ! Microwave currently working well
Brought this for my mother 4 months ago looks great and very easy to use, now program setting just to dials could not be easier. I already had on myself 3years old now just love the simple way it operates, anyone can use it.
No more heating my food up in the sun anymore, now I have this wonderful creation.
You put your food in, turn the dial and wait till it goes “DING” Hey presto your food is hot.
Just using this for 5 minutes I realised just how rubbish my other one was I returned that I bought from a well known supermarket, This it’s expensive looking easy to use well worth every penny can’t beat relying on such a good brand , will now replace my other appliances with Russell hobb , will never buy cheap brands again.
Perfect replacement for a Hotpoint that decided to blow up and catch fire one month out of warranty.
I have a few Russell Hobbs pieces so this fits right in. Specs are basic 700 watts and 17L with 24.5cm glass turntable. Outside dimensions are the same as most compact 17 Litre microwave oven.
Let’s hope it lasts longer than the 2yr one month predecessor. One issue I have is that you cant see what you are cooking. Yes there is an interior light, but the door glass/plastic is tinted like a mirror so have no idea if food is boiling over etc.

Old microwave packed up and looked for a replacement. Saw the Russell Hobbs which was exactly what I wanted – Retro cream, 2 dials only and not digital – everything matched with my new kitchen doors, including my RH cream kettle. Did not want dozens of push buttons with numerous digital settings and this model for me was perfect. Also good value for money. Would highly recommend.
I am really happy with this product it does exactly what it says. It is a bit smaller than my last microwave but it fits a dinnerplate in just. it looks exactly like it does in the pictures. I have seen the negative reviews. I have had no issue with this but then I have had it less than a yea
Nothing really to dislike. It’s very smart & works very well.
JUST ONE POINT, IT SAYS IN THE MANUAL THAT THERE’S A LIGHT INSIDE, BUT ACTUALLY THERE ISN’T, ??.
It’s no big deal about the internal light anyway.
Kindest Regards
JUST LIKE TO ADD AN UPDATE, THE LIGHT IS WORKING FINE NOW. ( 08/08/2020 )
KINDEST REGARDS.
I replaced my old microwave that had LEDs, a dial, push buttons and many programs and used to beep annoyingly every five seconds after it finished. I now have a microwave that has two dials, one of which is left set at full power and the other controls the timer and is the only one I need to use. When it’s finished it goes BING once, very loudly, and that’s it. Highly recommended!
Nice looking microwave as you’d expect from Russell Hobbs. I bought it to replace a microwave that was about 3 times the size of this one. I hadn’t realised how much room the other one took up on my worktop. The colour blends in nicely with everything else in my kitchen. Works as you would expect. Happy with the price also
I like this microwave as a whole, although if I am honest I do miss the digital timer for things you want to warm up under a minute as you kind of have to guess with the dial for timers under 1 minute. Nice modern finish and compact size makes this a good edition to any kitchen.
No digital push buttons so easy to use. Ours arrived with a sticker in a prominent place advising if we wanted to use for less than 2 minutes, turn the dial above 2 minutes and reverse. Unfortunately this sticker was extremely difficult to remove and when doing so turned this prominent area dull whilst the rest was an excellent shiny black.
My mum love this I bought her, she said it’s so stylish the right colour she was looking for. The build quality is as you would expect at this price range. They are not built to last long anymore unless you paid a lot more than this. This is just a nice little microwave for warming food up nothing special and as long as you clean and dry it out after every uses it should not rust for quite a while. Anyway my mum loves it so I am happy.
Great basic microwave, good value for money, vdoes exactly what you’d expect it to. The only improvement I’d suggest is having the internal light come on when you open the door. The light goes on while cooking but on just with the door open which makes cleaning it properly slightly more difficult.
Fabulous looking, good working microwave, had 2 years, not used too often maybe a few times a week, last few weeks noticed food has taken a lot longer to heat or been excessively hot in a few minutes, after putting my 18 month olds soup in microwave in microwaveable bowl after 10 seconds or so it just started sparking bright yellow inside microwave then a huge bang…..black smoke started bellowing out.
Very dangerous as both me and my 18 month old daughter were only a meter away.
Gutted this had happed!!!
No issues till this happened.
The issue that I have experienced was: The interior has gone rusty under the plate and pock marked with rust on the sides.
Russell Hobbs RHMM701R 17L Manual 700w Solo Microwave Red
It occurred on: 24/10/2019
This meant that I have no alternative microwave
I would like a refund.
I look forward to your prompt response on this matter. As recommended by Trading Standards, I would like to keep a complete record of my case, so please reply to this email address.
This is a very nice microwave and the style of it is super retro and cool. The main thing I do not like is the fact that there is no light inside and you can’t see inside while it’s operating. Every American spec microwave I’ve ever had, even cheap ones, have this feature so I am not sure if it’s intentional. This can be a problem because you can’t monitor your food in case it starts overflowing. Also, I noticed that a lot of moisture collects inside of the microwave, which is probably why many are getting rust inside of the unit. Leave the door open after cooking for a few minutes to prevent this.
I wanted a small microwave and that’s what this is. It was relatively cheap and you get what you pay for. The timer is not precise under 2 minutes as it’s a dial which has to be turned past 2 mins to activate and then turned back to less than 2 mins. This is awkward if less than 2 mins is really needed. Otherwise it does the job. I only wanted it for warming ready meals through and that’s fine. My attempts at poached eggs as described in the recipe leaflet were disastrous but very funny. Won’t be trying that again. Overall, good value for the money; basic and easy to use.
This was a present for an 86 year old lady. She loves it and finds it so easy to use.
I’m newish to using Microwaves so have very little to compare with however I am very happy with this one. Looks wise it combines the retro feel with a nice modern mirror glass door and the cream looks great in my kitchen where I have cream cupboards. It has a 25cm glass plate but can easily take my 26.5cm large denby dinner plants. It has a 1 metre cable (length of cable not plug ends) which is situated at top right. It came very well double packed in Russel Hobbs box and outer cardboard box. There was a large booklet with it re advise on using but only a very small leaflet of recipes – the same information as on website. Overall you need to allow 33cm from front to back (this is from the very back to the very front of the handle) and the leaflet advises to have 7cm behind that for circulation. The width is 44cm and the height 25cm. All different to shown on website. It also works very efficiently. The one small point I would make is that it does appear to produce a lot of condensation – more than one’s I’ve had in the past so reading the other feedback you must be careful to wipe out after to avoid rust. Overall a good buy.
bought for my mom.lovely machine ,great colour and mirror finished door ,good value
