I read lots of mixed reviews so thought I’d add to the confusion after buying one 🙂

I only have a very small lawn and this lawnmower is fine. I’d like it to cut the grass a little shorter but I can live with the results. It’s very agile and lightweight and easy to store. It works with my 1.5AMP batteries I had when I purchased a Ryobi drill although it runs out out juice after 10-15 minutes but since I have two batteries I can get my small lawn done in one session. I imagine a larger capacity battery would solve this problem but for me, the point of buying Ryobi is that you don’t buy multiple batteries. I found the 1.5A battery lasted about 10-15 minutes of cutting.

Someone mentioned poor build quality and I agree the handle seems rather flimsy – hasn’t failed yet but see why it’s a concern which I find unusual in a Ryobi product.

Also someone mentioned “The mulcher” which is basically a big piece of plastic blocking the path of he cut grass into the collection bag. Even knowing this thing might be there, it must be noted the instructions aren’t crystal clear about how to remove this and I spent my first mow wondering why the grass box was empty.

Overall though I was quite happy with this. Works with my other Ryobi tools (and batteries), gives a reasonable (if not great) cut and is very lightweight / portable / collapsible. I can however see why anyone seeking a closer cut or mowing a medium size or larger lawn may have been disappointed with this.

Makes a good job , you need to have a spare battery as one charge only lasts about 25mins but this is fine for a small law

I have a small back garden like most of the people around here. My main problem was it took longer to find an extension cord for my conventional lawnmover than cutting the grass and then I had to recoil it again. This mower solves this problem, I cut the grass in less than 15 minutes and my lawn looks better than ever.

    Very powerful, lightweight machine!

Great maneuvering and cuts edge much better than our old bosch.

But unfortunately we received the machine with broken level lever hence had to return.

First things first, this is not the product for you if you cut your lawn once a month. If on the other hand you like to trim it up every 10-14 days.. keep reading right the pros are it’s easy to use, lightweight, makes a great cut, easy to store and empty when needed. The cons are the battery life. Like with all cordless tools, they have limits. The longer the grass, the less the battery will last. You really need a spare battery charging while you use one. Atleast a 4amp one. Also the lever to change the height is crap. Just keep it on the lowest setting. But I would definitely buy this product again. It’s perfect for my garden which is about 40ft x 25f

I have lots of Ryobi 18V tools and half a dozen batteries so I am have always been happy with the quality of the products but this was a little out of my normal zone. I read lots of reviews which were quite often contradictory. My back garden is 17m by 24m flat grass, I also have a couple of front lawns which combined make up an additional 50square metres and I need two 5ah to complete the job. This is not an issue for me as I have plenty but it should be considered. The cut itself is very respectable, certainly comparible to the petrol mower it has replaced. My Petrol mower was 40cm and this is only 33 and basically that just means a little more walking! The machine itself is very light, easy to move etc but certainly not flimsey, the blade cuts well and I have been really pleased with the mulsh plug, the cuttings are not tiny but small enough and the grass is already showing benefits in colour and overall health. As a “cheap” first step into battery mowing if you have Ryobi batteries already I would say this is a no brainer. I might have gone for a slightly larger deck but honestly the cost increase wasnt an issue for me as I actually quite enjoy mowing so it likely adds a couple of min to the process and for that I wont complain.

This is a great mower, lightweight and easy to manoeuvre around the garden and it’s so much easier to mow your lawn without worrying about wires and easier to use and maintain than a petrol mower.
The only downside is it struggles a bit if your grass is rally long or wet.

Our ryobi lawnmower died just outside of the warranty period, this is a slightly updated version. We are not gentle with lawnmowers and don’t maintain them so don’t necessarily expect them to last.
Positives : it cuts the grass o.k. grass box folds down and is easy to take off and empty. It’s light so doesn’t hurt my bad back. Folds down to go in small shed. Can cut at different heights. Good price compared to other battery lawnmowers
Negatives: folding down is a bit fiddly and could be made easier. Adjusting cut height is a bit fiddly.
Overall you get what you pay for, it’s cheap and cheerful for a battery lawnmower. If you are really lawn proud then I’d recommend paying a bit more for something better but if like us, you really only have a lawn for the kids and for somewhere to sit in the 2 weeks a year of sunshine and you don’t want to plug a lawnmower in then this will be just fine

    Easy to assemble.
    Very light.
    Copes with longer grass.
    Cuts close.
    Folds down small.
    Strimmer is an animal!
Strims and cuts 5m x 8m lawn on 2 bars out of 4 on the battery. Takes about 1/12 hours to top up.
Charger small and easy to wall mount.

Love this, even when the grass catcher is full it’s light and easy to handle. As others have said make sure you have a decent size battery – I’ve had to size up after trying with 2 charged 1.3’s and getting frustrated that it didn’t cover the whole lawn. Also keep in mind that if the grass is long it’ll make the machine and therefore the battery work harder – I’ve got a 5 battery now and it does a sizeable lawn no problem with this with power left for some hedge trimming and grass strimming. 🙂

I had been thinking about getting a lightweight mower for some time and fancied a cordless one for ease of use. I’m so glad I took the plunge as I totally love this mower. It is really lightweight and easy to manoeuvre and I can push with just one hand. The battery lasted long enough for me to mow the lawn twice – once on high then again on a lower setting to get a closer finish. I then christened the strimmer too using the same first charge of the battery. I have a small to medium sized law

  15. Christine says:

I have had this a few months now, and used every 2 weeks. It works very well and I am pleasantly surprised. I have 3 small lawns around the house and If the grass is not too long I can do it on one 5ah battery. If its longer then it takes two (5 and a 2.0ah). I have a few batteries for my Ryobi tools so its never a problem having a charged up spare. Happy not to have to go through all the hassle of a petrol mower anymore and it cuts just as good IMHO.

Pros: Lightweight, can use the battery in other tools. Cuts well and close to the edge. Grass collector is a good size.
Cons: None I can think off

Glad I bought a cordless one over an ICE mower.

Soo much better than the flymo I had, battery lasted both front and back gardens even though they are small both were well over due a cut.
You can adjust cut depth, so I went over at 5 and than 1, it collected all the grass so I didn’t have to faff with a rack.
Being cordless was a game changer. I also bought the cordless hedge trimmer, and together I managed to do both gardens in an hour, saved lots of time.
Both lawn mower and strimmer really light also.
Strimmer great quality too, works well and can spin 180 degrees.

    Life changing

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am a Ryobi tool fan and have a number of them including Drills, Saws, Jet wash etc. I wanted a lightweight mower which was easy to move around my average size garden and keep my lawn tidy with a weekly cut during the warmer months. I found it to be an excellent addition to my tool collection does exactly what i need it to do and i already had several batteries and a charger making the mower great value for money. I also purchased the cordless strimmer which is also very good and using both has made cutting the grass a pleasurable experience and no cords to trip over and risk cutting through. The only improvements would be to be able to remove the handle completely to be able to store easier and the cable to the switch on the inside of the frame to give it better protection. I cable tied it as a quick fix. To summarise i would recommend this for the average size garden and at the price point is good value if you own the charger and batteries. If you are new to Ryobi invest in a package deal with a larger capacity battery which then gives you greater flexibility to power additional tools you will want to purchase as you will get hooked on the range on offer.

After an old heavy petrol mower this is a pleasure to use, light weight and easy to use. Advertised mowing area I think is on the high side as may not take into account corners and awkward bits but a second non branded battery takes away any concern about not completing both mowing and strimming in one go

This mower is easy to use and lightweight compared to my old corded mower. You don’t have to worry about cables when mowing. Would most likely not be quite do suitable for larger gardens as the battery would not last long enough. All in all very pleased with it.

So far have only used a couple of times but so far very impressed. Very light and easy to maneuver around. Not as easy to store away as I was hoping but overall very happy. The battery it comes with seems to manage ok, ran out after about 20 mins with long grass but managed fine once the hard work was done. Would recommend upgrading battery if you have a large lawn. The strimmer is also really good. Light weight and easy to use, battery lasts a lot long whilst using strimme

We bought this for the allotment as it was battery operated and we were struggling with the hand pushed mower . We read the reviews and strimmed any longer grass first . We also purchased 2 extra batteries and it cut the whole plot sweet as a nut . Added bonus it cuts right to the edge the full width of the mower .
Very pleased with this and it has a free strimmer with it which is useful .

Overall the mower and strimmer are very good and give a good cut. One charge of the 4 .0 Ah battery lasted long enough to cut a trim my 2 medium sized lawns with charge left over. The reason for 4 stars is I find the cut height mechanism fiddly and the lever does not feel very robust and feels as though it might break when trying to adjust the height.

I was a bit dubious about buying this mower with some of the negative reviews, but after a lot of research the mower suited my needs best. I found it very easy to assemble and loved the sleek design. My grass was probably about 4 or 5 inches long and I was in two minds to use my old electric mower that I am replacing and thought well it would be a great test for the mower as the grass was a bit wet and quite long.
All I can say is what a fantastic bit of kit !!!! So happy with the results. I set the depth to 1 which is the shortest setting the mower struggled a little bit, but it was more from the grass being wet than a power issue. I changed the setting to 2 and it made mince meat out of the grass., back to 1 for a lovely finish.
The mower is very easy to use and lightweight but don’t let that put you off.
I used most of the battery but there was more than enough left in it to use the strimmer. Again a great bit of kit. I would say that the mower and the strimmer have done a better job of cutting the grass than my old electrical ones. I have only used once but I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend.

    Fantastic mower and strimme

In a nutshell: the mower might look and feel a bit like a Fisher Price ‘my first lawnmower’ but if your lawns aren’t massive and you don’t let them get long enough for the army to borrow them for training snipers in specialist camouflage techniques, it’ll almost certainly be good enough to do the job.

It struggles with long, damp grass, but I guess that’s not an ideal test for any mower. I love that I can do an entire lawn one-handed and a 4Ah battery lasts long enough to cut two 25’x40′ lawns with two bars left on the battery capacity indicator. The (S)trimmer works exactly as it should and flings small sticks and bits of gravel at my ankles just like my old mains-powered one did.

I’m not normally a ‘cheap and cheerful’ buyer of tools, but this time; it worked out fine 🙂

So light and manoeuvrable. Bought to replace my petrol mower it’s an absolute must for small medium lawns (unless you have more batteries available). I have access to old batteries so didn’t need to buy new and even using my absolutely battered ones I can mow both front and back lawn which is about 15 minutes.

Ordered on Wednesday afternoon, delivered on Thursday using free standard delivery option.
A replacement for a 43cm German corded mower, that literally went into meltdown on Wednesday. With the motor housing taking on the consistency of warm caramel topping! A quick browse showed a same brand replacement as two to three times the cost of this slightly smaller, but cordless Ryobi.
My lawn is about 150 square metres, so theoretically within the capability of a 33cm mower. And I figured that saving the time (and energy), of not having to wrestle with cable, extension lead and safety overload cutout, would allow me to finish the task within the time of the standard battery’s 4amp/hour capacity.
Some other reviews suggested that I was being overly optimistic. However, after an initial charge of just over 2 hours, I have just cut the still slightly damp and a little overgrown lawn in around 15 minutes, with the mulching plug in place, on the second highest setting; and still had about a quarter of the battery capacity remaining. After another one or two cuts, I expect to be able to take advantage of the 25mm shortest setting and the grass collection bag.
The light weight is relatively easy to manoeuvre and cordless cutting is a revelation. My only criticism would be the design of the supposedly folding handle which is suggested to be removed for storage, but as the smug owner of two sheds this isn’t really an issue for me.
Over all I’m very pleased with my choice and thus far very happy to recommend this mower.

Easy to put together with the pictures. But was confused by the “red key ” as the pics didn’t really show where it went. But to be honest, keep looking you’ll find it lol
It cuts nicely. But does seem to clog with the grass cutting basket on the back. Can’t figure out why.
It’s light enough to pick up and carry through the house. Which is a massive bonus. My only complaint is the battery doesn’t last long enough.
My lawns aren’t that big. But the battery will only last long enough to do one at a time. And it’s a long charge time
    Other than that, great mowe

So after reading all the poor reviews of the Ryobi One+ Mower family I was certainly apprehensive on ordering one on Prime Day.
Well what can I say I’m gutted I didn’t order one a lot lot sooner, it was the pack with the 4.0Ah battery and strimmer (I already owned a strimmer so this will be passed on) and all my fears were waylaid immediately, my lawn is far from smooth but it glided over effortlessly and the cut and pick up is fantastic, with the 4.0Ah battery (I already owned one as well so now have 2) I managed to do all my smallish front lawn and 5/6ths of my largish rear lawn before having to put my spare battery in to finish the job (2nd battery only used 1 bar of power).
I cannot recommend this enough as it means it now takes 25 minutes to mow both lawns where it used to take me over an hour with a corded Flymo, in fact my neighbour saw it and how happy I was with it and ordered himself the same pack.

An awesome, very easy to operate mower that cut the grass, even at higher growth, without showing any signs of straining. The 5 different height settings ensured that you need not overwork the mower by having to make shorter cutting as is the case for some makes of machine. I’ve used the mower and strimmer a few times now and have to say I’m very impressed. After scouring the web to find the best for the money battery mower I’m confident I count have don’t better than this bundle.

I bought the Mower and strimmer that also came with a 4Ah battery and charger.

Out of the box the mower and strimmer were easy to assemble. The battery clips into both tools and releases very easily.

The mower is very light which makes it really easy to pick up and move around. I was concerned the mower would be too light as one other reviewer warned about, but honestly it’s not a problem at all. It has five cutting heights and has the option to collect or mulch the clippings. Battery life with the 4Ah is just about enough for what I need it for. I can easily cut around 100m and then strim the edges before running out of power.

The strimmer has a nice balance to it and it easy to use. The handle positions work well and the spool up time is very short.

Noise wise, both the mower and strimmer were quieter than expected, especially the mower.

Only gripes: height adjustment on the mower is a bit fiddly, and the sprung lid on the back that sits on the grass bin is annoying as you can’t just leave it open for cleaning.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter reading most of the reviews some complaining that it wouldn’t cut as they had left the mulching plug in as they had neglected to read the instructions! You really need the minimum of a 5 Ah battery to do this mower justice. it’s a very lightweight machine and this entry level model is for small postage stamp lawns that take 5 or 6 paces to walk across. If your patch is larger then go for the next model up. This is a cheap mower but only if you have bought in to the Ryobi platform as a 5 Ah battery is now approaching 80 and of course you need a charger as well. Compared to my ageing Flymo this cuts very well but if you leave the grass to get too long, better to cut in to stages so as not to stress out the motor. It will then eat batteries even quicker. All in all a suitable machine for my needs.

I have most of the 18v+ tools, so it made sense. Although I would of prefered a 36v, were you put 2x18v batteries in.

Works brilliantly and so easy to manoeuvre around the trees and small areas, makes mowing that area of the garden so much easier and quicker.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPro’s – light, compact, reasonably priced, battery powered so very convenient – no cords or petrol needed, surprisingly powerful, easy to assemble, not very loud, gave an even cut.

Con’s – hard to tell when the grass bag is full, grass bag doesnt seem to collect the grass very well BUT this was due to a blockage from when it overfilled i think so may have been my fault. Other than that, nothing.

Only used it the once and it’s done a great job. Managed to do my lawn using 1 and a half 4mha batteries worth. My lawn isn’t massive (roughly 5M x 10m) but a 135 battery powered lawnmower isnt designed for massive lawns at the end of the day. It was pretty overgrown though so it had to work harder which used more power. I think with regular cuts before it gets too long i could easily do it with one battery. I have several ryobi tools now and none of them have let me down. Would recommend.

Very light and easy to use being ideal for my smallish lawn ( 35 x 12 feet). So far used only about 1 bar of 5mh battery on each cut but I could see longer grass etc using more. You can only adjust cutting height at front so the 5 levels arnt the greatest difference. I also realised theres no roller which is a shame. Compared to my previous corderd Flymo the biggest plus is cleary lack of trailling lead however as mentioned the lack of more sensitive cut height and roller is a negative.

Great little mower for what we needed to cut our new small lawn. We have owned many different mowers in the past and was concerned that this would be too lightweight. It is indeed light and feels a little flimsy at first, but it is very easy to use and cuts the lawn perfectly. Good for awkward spaces and cuts close to the edge. On a large lawn and over rough terrain it might struggle. Only downside is the plastic leaver to raise and lower the cutting height feels quite weak.

Have used this twice now and wouldn’t go back. Moderate lawn size but does job well. Always used petrol mowers. Moved house and had cable electric with house. Quite annoying so went for it. Easy to assemble and use. Second time cut lawn and strimmed using Ryobi one strimmer. All on one 5ah battery. Cuts have never been more than one grass box but like to keep on top of it. Highly recommend.

Great for the small lawn I have, using my own ryobi 5ah battery it cut the grass perectly

Very easy to biuld no prolems, ensuring
the two parts with the cable clap holes are on the same side.

Height adjustment works OK just a little stiff initially.

Overall very satisfied with the mower for the task I wanted it for.

This is a very light easy to use mower. Get a larger battery for it to make it work longer. I have a lawn about 200ft square. One charge will do it twice on a 5amp battery. If you have a larger lawn you will start to struggle. The grass collection works well and for my little bit will not need emptying until i am finished. Good little buy, no leads really quick and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPleasantly surprised, went from a petrol mower straight to this!!And what a relief,no back pain,so easy to use, cuts well etc.
Had a laugh when i finished cutting the grass when i walked past my misses saying i’m just taking my mower back to the shed, carrying it with the centre handle lol.
I love it so far.Little word of warning,i have several Ryobi 18v one+ tools and they all share the same battery, however,as soon as i got this out the box i charged the battery, then i thought hey i’ll just stick in the 18v battery from my angle grinder in the meantime to test the mower, seemed ok for a while but mower died, battery was red hot!!
Didn’t realise the 18v battery with this mower is more powerful than my other battery for my drills etc, doh!!Lesson learned, however i know i can use this more powerful battery in my drills etc too!!A win, win.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlso allgemein Betrachtet ist der Mher echt gut. Was mir persnlich negativ aufgefallen ist.

I bought this mower after investing in one of their Drill/Impact/Circular Saw packages and liking the quality of the product and the handyness of the batteries being interchangable.
I unpacked the mower and built it in 5/10 mins. Very easy and light.
Used it for 1st cut on new lawn, highest setting, grass about 4″ and it cut no issues at all, went over again with mid height setting and still coped well, no issues. Its very light to the extent I could use it with 1 arm once safety start button is pressed (requires 2 hands). Very impressed with how close it got to the wall of the house.

Really light, I can lift it using the handle on the body with one hand. It takes a while to get used to it being so light. Pays to have spare batteries charging incase you have long grass as the batteries don’t last so long with long grass, easy to clean and store away, grass box holds plenty, but it does clog a bit if grass is too damp

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur lawn is probably about 20 square meters. The battery is only about 1/2 used doing that. The “tricky” part with the instructions is getting the right correct pole on the right side of the mower…but if I’d looked at the instructions, I’d have done that right. Also take the “mulch” thing out if you want the bag to fill up. (Again with the looking at instructions…phfft).

Anyway. Happy. Would buy again assuming it lasts a few years.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThis is a mower for small gardens: it is not a heavy-duty one for intensive or difficult cutting. But it is excellent at what it is designed for: cutting small gardens with minimal effort. It is extremely light & easy to use: it may not be as efficient as a mains or petrol mower, but the ease of use of a cordless mower more than makes up for it. Just don’t expect it to be as efficient.
The 2.5ah battery only lasts for about 75 sq m: for grass larger than about 50 sq m you really need the 5.0ah battery, especially if the grass is longer than usual.
When assembling, be careful: it is easy to assemble the arms the wrong way round.

Easy to assemble. Not that the mulching attachment comes in position and must be removed if you want to use the bag. Very manourverable and speedy. Lightweight and easy to carry from front lawn to rear lawn. Produces nice even cut.

Note that this is the body only version, intended for those who already own Ryobi One+ batteries and charger. The Ryobi One+ system is very versatile, once you own one product it is very easy to suddenly own several.

Surprised how good the battery life is. Takes a few seconds to get up to speed but cuts better than my old 240v flymo. Makes it so much easier now i don’t have to trail a lead behind the mower. It is also quieter than the 240v version – and much quieter than a petrol mower. Height adjustment was a bit fiddly at first but once you get the hang of it, works well – one lever does it all at once.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI got this from the warehouse, it was missing a bolt but Amazon were good, gave me a fiver back to replace it. I already have 2 batteries from a drill, so didn’t need to get any, but you will if you don’t have some already.

I previously borrowed a cordless battery lawnmower from my folks, and it was pants! This is a million times better, does the job on our lawns fine, tested it doing the front garden which isn’t that small really and it used 1 bar on the battery.

It’s not as powerful as a plug in lawnmower of course, but if you keep on top of mowing you shouldn’t need that, and having something as convenient as this helps – no more massive extension leads etc, it’s also very very lightweight.

As a few people have mentioned (only noticed after), it’s like the grass isn’t collected, but that’s because it’s blocked when it arrives for some reason and you just need to remove the black bit at the back, no tools needed!

I am a 69 yr old female and I wanted a light lawn mower as I have to take it up four steps, mow the grass then take it up nine very small steps in a rockery to cut the top lawn which has banks. Well I can carry it up and down with the battery in a and a full grass box. It cuts the grass nicely when wet. The reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because I cannot shift the lever for changing the cutting height, it is really stuff. It doesn’t matter that much to me as I cut the grass on the highest setting 5 all through the yea

Golden Review Award: 68 From Our UsersWell. On the whole I’m very, very impressed with this amazingly light little mower, which runs on the same battery system as a wide range of other tools (both indoor and outdoor). The mower is supplied without battery and charger – and these do add a good chunk to the cost – but we already owned several batteries and the fast charger for this series, so didn’t need to buy anything new/extra in order to run this. The only assembly needed for this relates to attaching the three pieces of the handle, which is pretty straightforward. Although the diagrammatic instructions show fitting it, this came with the mulching plug pre-installed (needs to be removed before the grass collection bag can be used). The grass collection bag has a cloth base, so is collapsible for storage, whilst the handle of the mower can be folded by simply unscrewing the two large side screws. For storage purposes, this is great, taking a comparatively small amount of space whilst the grass collection bag is reasonably generous.

This works well. It is unbelievably light compared to a petrol mower. More like pushing a lightweight stroller or a child’s toy than a lawnmower (although there is a bit of vibration through the arms). My Dad at 72 hasn’t used a mower on anything other than self-drive settings in years, but he loved this push mower: it’s so light that pushing this is less effort than steering an SD petrol mower. No fumes. No need to faff about with engine oil. Comparatively, this is really quiet in use.

We’ve only used this with 5.0ah batteries. When well-maintained, a fully charged battery is easily capable of coping with a couple of good sized lawns (over 2000′ squared/ a good couple of hundred meters). If grass has started to get a bit out of hand, this still cuts well, but with the 5.0Ah battery you can hear it placing strain on the power supply and the battery drains significantly faster. The small size and light weight make this very easy to manoeuvre, and this goes in next to obstacles (such as trees, bird feeders, and lawn edges) really well.

The only issue we’ve had with this relates to the cutting height adjustment ‘lever’. This is wholly plastic, and works by means of pulling a plastic handle out, moving it side to side, and pushing it back in so that a little plastic peg slots in to one of 5 cutting height selection holes. The 5th hole – the one for the highest cut on grass – is not good. On this setting, the peg gets stuck. There doesn’t seem to be sufficient space between the lever and the wheel to disengage this once it has been set to this height. The handle on the lever really strains and feels as though it might break, with no sign of dislodging the peg. I ended up using the end of a flat head screwdriver and poking this down the side of the hole selector to extract the peg without placing undue pressure on the handle. Will be avoiding this setting in future.

On paper this mower isn’t really suitable for our garden. We live out in the countryside and have a half acre plot – significantly more than the size for which this is recommended. However, our garden isn’t all lawned over one area each at the back/front, but over seven separate ‘zones’; is on a slope; and has walled areas and steps between every lawn. It’s really a series of smaller lawns rather than a big one. Until now, we’ve used petrol rather than electric mowers – the cabling needed for electric models is completely impractical in a large, tiered garden that’s prone to retaining water.

Previously, it’s been quite hard going lugging a mower round between walled areas, up and down steps. To make matters more interesting, our soil is clay: prone to cracking deeply and developing odd lumps and bumps in dry weather; and waterlogging, then remaining boggy, when it rains. That this is light has not been astonishing, but this mower has surprised by proving easier to use over lumps and bumps caused by cracking lawns and ants’ nests (a constant battle in our garden!) than petrol mowers. The lighter weight doesn’t do anything to help restructure the lawn, but does enable this to glide over obstacles, instead of struggling and even getting stranded on them. This has also proved more practical in some respects when it comes to our water-retaining soil: this is so light that it can be used pretty much as soon as the soil is OK to walk on, whereas heavier mowers can start to sink/dig in to the ground if it’s not dried out below the surface. If we mow by using multiple batteries, or doing only a couple of lawns at a time, this lightweight battery mower works really well, even on a large garden.
