So , garden has got smaller after building an office in it.
Probably 600ft2. Medium size.? Petrol mower finally gave up after 6 years.
Probably due to double mileage as neighbour borrowed regularly.
So decided on battery as I have 18+ tools.
Wasn’t expecting much and for over 200 it’s not brilliant. The motor strains and slows with thick grass and if you drop to lowest cut straight away.
Also the height adjuster feels like it’s going to snap if you pull too hard.
Also if there’s any moisture on grass it sticks and starts mulching ie grass collector Shute gets blocked and starts dumping cuttings on lawn.
But it’s light and fast. Start on the top setting , fly round in 8 mins , drop middle , another 10, finally low for 15.
Might seem a faff but we’d been too long without cutting . Now it’s a 15 min fly round every 10 days. One battery does it, although a tad warm on completion.

So in summary ,cheap, fast ,not sure it will last , but light enough to throw around the garden for a quick cut.

Simple to assemble and easy to use. Replaces a much appreciated Bosch Rotak 320. The Ryobi seems to take up less storage space than the Bosch too. Have a 5ah Ryobi battery fitted and for a lawn measuring 6m x 5m, there’s no range anxiety

Brought this as replacement for an old petrol mower.
It does not have the guts of my old mower but that is not a surprise.
Does a medium garden front and rear with. 2.5 A battery.
    Cuts really well though
Happy with purchase but won’t be for every garden.

Great bit of kit for smaller lawns, I recommed the larger batteries, also that you keep on top of cutting. It doesn’t spin as fast as electric/petrol so it cuts rather than pulping the grass which is probably a good thing! Very light and easy to manoeuver. Very pleased with it.

My petrol lawn mower started giving me problems so it was time for a change. As my mother had just ordered one of these I thought I would do the same. Really pleased I did, its so lightweight and easy to manouver. As I have a border with only one small access point to the garden I used to struggle getting the petrol mower on and off the lawn. With the Ryobi I just pick it up with the handle and easily carry it accross. A 5AMP battery does both my front and back gardens without having to change it. Of all my Ryobi One+ tools this is my favourite!

This works really well and is slightly less noisy than a conventional electric mower. I only have a small battery, so would be worth getting a larger version depending on how big your garden is. Good basket for collecting grass. The levers are comfortable and easy to use and good that you have both left and right handed. Blade seems to cut well. The unit is also quite light, especially when the battery is removed. Glad a bought it.

Bought this as a replacement to my old one which just stopped working after 5yrs. This was easy to assemble, though slightly different in design from my old one. The good news is that the motor appears more efficient, as the battery is lasting longer between charges.
I would recommend this product to anyone with an average sized lawn of 100-150m^2. The tool range for the ONE+ system means you can also get an edge trimmer to work off the same battery keeping life easy.

As our new property has only about 50 sqm of lawn, I purchased this lawnmower as a replacement for my older Webb 43 cm cordless mower. The Ryobi mower is of course smaller, but it does a great job. Nice lightweight construction. Bag picks up a very high percentage of clippings. Great addition to my Ryobi cordless tool collection.

I’ve had this for about 3 weeks now, and have done 3 cuts, so decided to put my thoughts down. Like most I enjoy a good quality lawn, and since moving house two years ago our lawn in now about 10 metre square so ditching the old petrol push mower for the 33cm cut Ryobi made sense as I was already invested in the eco system.

    Pros:

    Lightweight and easy to maneuver
Good cut depth range (25-65mm) – I use the lowest setting labelled as ‘1’
    Effective grass collection system
Works with Ryobi and aftermarket batteries
    Quiet operation

    Cons:

Battery life is limited (10-15 minutes)
    Expensive batteries

Overall, the Ryobi 33cm One+ 18v lawn mower is a good choice for small to medium-sized lawns, don’t even think about it for large lawns. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver, and it cuts grass evenly and effectively. The grass collection system is also effective, and the mower is relatively quiet. However, the battery life is limited, and Ryobi batteries are expensive. If you are looking for a cordless lawn mower that is affordable and easy to use, the Ryobi 33cm One+ 18v is a good option. I didn’t see the major benefit for a small lawn to pay the extra for the larger cut model.

The mower is lightweight, able to cut through reasonable thick “start of the season” grass and fairly quiet.
However the instructions are up to the usual standard for Ryobi – absolutely useless. It’s easier to look at the bits and work out what goes where than to try to get through the instructions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the best lawnmower I have ever owned. It is lightweight – can be pushed with one hand, leaving my other hand free for my walking stick. The results – see my attached picture – are superb. Our lawn is fairly large, so I have bought a second large battery so we can mow the whole lawn, but that is a small price to pay for the freedom we get from extension leads and all the fuss and bother they gave us – as well as the worry of cutting it as well as the grass. My thanks to Ryobi for such a superb product. I raise my glass to you!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great lawnmowe

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOrdered this as my petrol mower was playing up and I wanted a quick replacement. I have 2 quite large lawns but thought I would give this a go. Was a great price for a lawnmower and I already have 3 Ryobi batteries.
A small delivery driver carried this to the door and I was immediately concerned.
I carried the box into the garden and opened the box. Worried more I thought I had made a mistake and bought a kids toy mower. Easy to fit together, I grabbed a battery and the battery key and started it up.
Wow. How easy and light and nimble. I tried it on the grass box then tried without and fitted the mulcher fitting. Wow. No grass to be seen and after about 3 weeks now my lawn has never looked so good.
I do need to purchase another battery as 3 is not quite enough for my lawn areas but with 2 chargers I just plug in and take the next.
When done it can be picked up with 2 fingers and lifted into the shed. Brilliant.
Only issue I have is that the start mechanism feels poor and hope it lasts. It has a double lever engage system then a central push button which has a rough click and does not always start up first time.

Nice light mower, ideal for smaller lawns.
Eats battery power so try to use for short cuts.
I use both 4 ah and 2.5 ah batteries as luckily I have other tools.
I’d recommend a 4 ah at least if you need a battery too.
As others have commented on the cut height adjuster feels very flimsy and is a bit awkward to use.
I have a petrol mower too so this is a great help on more awkward areas.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA decent price for a mower of this standard. Very light and compact to store. Cuts pretty well, does struggle a little on damp long grass but this is to be expected and it still got through it. Adjustment for cutting height could be better and is a little awkward to use but apart from that a good mower.

For such a little mower this Ryobi has a lot of umphf……our older cabled mower has a direct drive motor and rarely shies at anything we throw at it but its heavy……and dragging the cable behind is tireing……so we were a little concerned this little one wouldn’t cope with what we were about to ask it to do……how wrong we were we dont have acres of lawn but being tiered lawns and pasture grass they can grow thick at the edges and have long patches which can carch a mower out.

Both hubby and I have been unwell since the end of September so hadn’t cut the grass and with the wet and mild weather it had grown with gusto to the point that the birds were hidden from view on the ground when they came for food……so today whilst cold…….it has been dry for a few days……hubby decided to give “Robbie” the test of his cutting prowess……so starting on the highest setting he walked “Robbie” round the lawns……..”Robbie” performed wonders so lowering the setting to no3 he walked him round again and though its not as short as it could be at least we can now see the birds as they come down for food…..”Robbie” is a game little mower and we are glad we got him.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst of all this lawn mower is not for everyone.
It’s very power hungry I have put a 2.5ah battery in it.
After about 10 mins to complete my grass cutting it’s half used.
This is being used once every week the first time I used it as the grass was longer it took 1 and half batteries to complete the job.
    My concussion:
Good if you have a small lawn
Good if your going to cut it every week maybe fortnight.

If you have a got a large lawn or you can’t cut it often this is not for you

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersBought this has I have a number of tools from the Ryobi one+ range so figured I’d give it a shot. I was a bit hesitant from the mixed reviews and was torn between the 33cm and 40cm blade versions, I figured the larger blade version would make for a quicker job but the price difference was just daft so I bought the 33cm body only and snagged a third party backup battery from Amazon.
First impressions, it was light, looked typically Ryobi, the lever to change cut depth is stiff and difficult to change.
My lawn was at a ridiculous length and of reasonable size, it took the full charge of two batteries over the course of about 15-20 minutes. There’s no warning battery is low but you’ll know because the mower will stall at anything with more resistance than a fart in the wind.
It’s a learning process using a battery mower, what length is too too long for the settings and therefore cause a cut out but once you get the hang of it, the ease of cutting and the speed in which you can wizz around the lawn makes it worthwhile.
It seems to do a good job, it’s too early to comment on reliability but I’ve been using Ryobi one for over 10 years and my original tools still work great and original battery still going therefore I have faith in this little mower. The lever to change level and the rate at which it burns through batteries would be irritating unless you’ve got plenty of battery backups and a fast charger.
Grab a few third party backup batteries and make sure you have at least two at full charge if doing a lawn of reasonable size. If doing more than one lawn then double your batteries and if this seems too much hassle then this mower isn’t for you.
Oh, and the assembly instructions are rubbish, luckily assembly is pretty logical and straight forward.

At first i thought the lawnmower was a waste of money as the battery ran out before i’d finished my lawn. But the next time i cut my lawn it wasn’t as long and the battery lasted fine. So that is the only thing to take into consideration, don’t let your lawn get too long before cutting it.

I had mains hover mower that this replaced which was more trouble than it was worth.
I was very surprised at how good this mower actually is, it is lightweight, easy to manoeuvre and makes a good job at clearing up the cuttings in its ample sized collector box.
I had a 1.5 AH battery and a 5AH battery already, the 1.5 AH battery isn’t big enough even for my small lawn the 5AH one is great.
One small criticism the handle is fiddly to put on and take off due to the bottom screws being difficult to locate in their holes, as I fold this up to put in a garden chest it’s a bit time consuming.

This is a lovely machine light to use and so easy to manoevour . Having no trailing lead transforms mowing the lawn! The battery did stop just over two thirds of the way so we have since purchased a second battery so that there is always one fully charged. To be fair, our lawn is quite big, but the second battery seems a good idea whatever the size. However if your lawn is small I’m sure one would be sufficient. I certainly recommend this lawnmower.

You have to be realistic with this mower. For the price, you cannot expect a perfect finish. Easy to assemble, lightweight, portable and no messing about with twisted extension leads. Not for large lawns. The 5.0 battery is sufficient for modest front and rear lawns. The depth of cut could be better; low lying daisies can be skimmed over and missed.
Overall, a decent little mower for the price.

We have a small back lawn and medium sized front lawn. Just about manage to get both lawns done on one charge if the grass isn’t too long.

If your grass is say two inches or so long, the motor may struggle so what I had to do is raise the wheels and do two passes, still easier than out old petrol mower which would do it in one.

Not great when the grass is damp, most people would probably benefit from an extra battery so you don’t get caught short. Really lightweight and a doddle to move about. If you mow your grass when you’re meant to before it gets too long you’ll have no issues at all.

  41. Anonymous says:

The battery life is rubbish!! And the shoot isn’t wide enough for the cut grass to push through as it blocks up constantly and hardly throws any into the actual bag

I would not buy this if you have a large garden the battery runs out after half hour of use

Makes the job much easier when it comes to cutting the grass. No wire, no hassle. Cuts well and is adjustable. Battery last plenty of time for our relatively small lawn, however we have a spare battery just in case larger jobs are required.

This machine is incredibly light. Others said it felt cheap but it feels robust and as long as you keep on top of your lawn trimming then this works like a charm, it breezes through the lawn cutting. If the grass is a bit long and damp it will have a bit of a struggle, but no more so than my plug in mower used to. It has different ways to adjust the height. I use a 5.0ah battery and it makes it through my whole lawn with just under half the battery left. That’s also after using the same battery in the strimmer to go round the edges first.
Perfect, lightweight, easy to set up and use. Not one complaint from me.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI read lots of mixed reviews so thought I’d add to the confusion after buying one 🙂

I only have a very small lawn and this lawnmower is fine. I’d like it to cut the grass a little shorter but I can live with the results. It’s very agile and lightweight and easy to store. It works with my 1.5AMP batteries I had when I purchased a Ryobi drill although it runs out out juice after 10-15 minutes but since I have two batteries I can get my small lawn done in one session. I imagine a larger capacity battery would solve this problem but for me, the point of buying Ryobi is that you don’t buy multiple batteries. I found the 1.5A battery lasted about 10-15 minutes of cutting.

Someone mentioned poor build quality and I agree the handle seems rather flimsy – hasn’t failed yet but see why it’s a concern which I find unusual in a Ryobi product.

Also someone mentioned “The mulcher” which is basically a big piece of plastic blocking the path of he cut grass into the collection bag. Even knowing this thing might be there, it must be noted the instructions aren’t crystal clear about how to remove this and I spent my first mow wondering why the grass box was empty.

Overall though I was quite happy with this. Works with my other Ryobi tools (and batteries), gives a reasonable (if not great) cut and is very lightweight / portable / collapsible. I can however see why anyone seeking a closer cut or mowing a medium size or larger lawn may have been disappointed with this.
