For the price you would be hard pressed to beat it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had to remove the under chassis bracing on my R52 MINI Cooper S convertible to remove the old exhaust/fit a new one. The braces are held to the chassis with torx head bolts. The bolts initially broke free with a break bar, undone approx. 3mm then stuck solid. They wouldn’t come out and couldn’t even be tightened back in! Because so tight/rusted the torx bit then kept slipping off, so bolts were totally stuck. Tried applying heat with the blow torch but still stuck. The bolts had previously been sprayed every 2nd day over the course of a week to make sure they would come out easily (which they didn’t!)
Bought this Impact wrench as a last hope and also bought the 5ah battery and charger separately. Tried the impact wrench on them and still stuck, even on highest setting. Applied just a small amount of heat back with the gun. It sat clicking for a few secs then boom, first bolt out!! Next 5 all came out first try! When it came to refitting, I tried screwing the bolts in with a normal ratchet but they wouldn’t go back in. This was after soaking them in a container of wd40 for a week, along with wire brushing them and applying copper grease to them. Also did this to the holes they were screwing into in the chassis.

Used the gun and it popped them back in, although used it on it’s lowest setting as didn’t want to risk screwing them in too tight/shearing the head off. The 1st turn of screwing back in the gun did it’s clicking thing as it was trying to screw them in. Loosened them/tightened them a few times, now you can actually tighten them up by hand then do the final bit with the torque wrench.

There is no way on earth these would have come out if it hadn’t been for this impact wrench. I’ve since used it to remove wheel nuts/studs and it’s so quick and effortless it makes every job a doddle! Why the hell did I not buy one of these years ago! And for the bigger picture, I’m in my 50’s with arthritis so find working on the cars a lot more difficult than most now, but with this impact wrench it’s made my life so much easier.

    So, the Pros:
-Undo’s even the most stubborn bolts
-Very robust construction, think it can take quite a bit of abuse and still last a long time
-Bright colour, so easy to see where it is under the car.
-LED lights are actually pretty decent on it, certainly better than having none!
-Ease of use, very easy to use and the variable speeds are especially good when tightening any bolts as you can turn the setting down to 1 so it’ll tighten them just enough, leaving the final tighten by torqu wrench.

    The Con’s:
-Weight, it isn’t the lightest of tools but to be fair, I think that equates more to the quality of the build.
-Vibration; There is a significant amount of vibration when undoing bolts that are really stuck, was quite surprised at the amount being transferred to my hands. But again to be fair, it it wasn’t so violent at impacting, it wouldn’t shift the bolts.

All in all I totally highly recommend this impact Wrench/gun. It really is a must have tool and is a lot more capable than I thought it would be.

Final Advice: Make sure you purchase and Impact WRENCH, not an Impact DRIVER. I wrongly purchased the Ryobi Impact Driver (which the guy in B & Q assured me would be up t the job!) but the driver is deffo not powerful enough to even undo wheel nuts, let alone stuck solid rusty bolts. I had to take that back to the shop which delayed getting the job done. So remember, IMPACT WRENCH!

I have had this for a few years and it is still going strong. It works better with the original Ryobi battery.

I got the chance to use this in anger today. I changed all four of my wheels. 20 nuts off and 20 nuts on. I used a torque wrench to finish fastening (to ensure security), but the tool was plenty strong enough to undo all the bolts without starting with the breaker bar. Some took longer to get going than others. But I am so impressed. And more than that, I did the lot on one 2Ah battery. And with that same battery I even went round and inflated all 4 tyres using the (incredible) cordless Ryobi inflator. Wish I’d bought both sooner.

Not too much use as yet and was toying with getting the Makita as I have loads of Makita batteries. But you can get an adaptor for the ryobi sets so they take Makita batteries. So much lighter than the Makita unit and so far impressed with its power! Glad I purchased this unit.

When I brought this gun I was worried after reading reviews that it wasn’t undoing wheel nuts. I’m a mechanic and refuse to spend 700 on snap on of the same type. For the price this gun is brilliant. It hasn’t struggled undoing anything. Even to the point of undoing a 230nm rear hub nut. All these people that say it’s not undoing their wheel nuts are clearly the section of people that shouldn’t be working on cars and jump on a bar to tighten the wheel nuts. If you want a cheap gun for day to day motor trade work or any work, this is definitely worth it.

I would order another one if it was the same price that I bought this one. When I checked to purchase another, the price had gone up drastically. No complaints, works well.

Great power. Nice that you have 3 different power settings. I use them like 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch. Battery doesn’t last long at all, so for 24.99 I upgraded to a non genuine 5ah one. Loads better. Definitely recommend for someone like myself who uses it onece or twice a week for car repairs. It’s an inbetweener. Definitely better than the cheapish ones (I’ve tried them) , but probably not as good as the 300+ ones (I’ve not tested it against them though)

Pulls bolts , descent power with 4amphr
What can u expect for $100. Pulled my harmonic balancer, and front end parts fairly easy. Dosent do over torqued wheel lugs.
    Works on most lugs though.

    Not worthless.

I bought this to take on track days and quickly switch from slicks to wets and vice versa. This gun is a powerhouse! The price is really good too when compared with other named brand impact wrenches. I love that it came with some sockets. The bag is so much handier than a box because you can just throw everything you need into the bag and go. The battery life is great, I haven’t run out of charge over an evening session yet. Very much loving this wrench, and recommend it to everyone!

Need a nut or bolt unfastened in a timely manner? This’ll do it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not got the mega torque possiblities of the Snap On ones etc, however for general usage for car maintenance, this covers things nicely. Highly recommended.

A nicely built and powerful impact driver – bought it to integrate with their One Battery based tool system and its a great addition. Have been using it to drive coach bolts into oak sleepers and it does it the sleeper isnt there. Not sure how I did without it….!

I previously tried with a porter cable plug in impact (purchased on Amazon) and it didn’t get the job done. This Ryobi does and it uses the same batteries as my drill/drivers (BONUS!). The 18+ line of products are all excellent.

I use this on my car, doesn’t get the stuck stuff but it does save me a lot of time on the little stuff and when a bolt is cracked off. The three settings are really useful. I was disappointed with the overall power and I do think for what I’m using it for I should have gotten a better more expensive one

V powerful; three speed selector. Impact-driver specific bits are a must – broke two bits not rated for impact driver. For cabinet fitting consider something more compact – I have been using One+ for more than 10 years so that dictated my choice.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGood impact strength. Takes off most car lug nuts. The leds are a nice feature to see what your doing. Speed 1 is good for assembly. Speed 3 really drives it home. Recommend the 5 aH battery so it will last all day.

For the money not terrible. Bought it in a desperate bid to get a job done that day because it was available locally – given the choice I’d have bought a better gun online.

It’s ok in most scenarios but useless on big stuff when the battery is a little down. Had a few bolts it won’t shift.

And when you consider if you shop around you can get a DeWalt dcf899, battery and charger for maybe 50-60 more all in (seperate buys) that’s what I would have gone for as it offers significantly higher torque and affordable expandability into a better range of tools.

In itself not a bad tool just not all that if you can go a little higher and purchase with care.

Even with my existing battery 2Ah, it removed stuck wheel nuts with ease. I have used it a lot since buying, and it is very effective. You may need to use proper impact sockets though; it is so powerful, it will sometimes round off nuts if a 12 point socket is used.

  42. EloyBlackwood says:

I had been thinking about buying one for a while now to add to my small selection of Ryobi 1 tools. So glad I did go ahead and buy it. My son had a car wheel locking stud which would not move with my small compressor and impact wrench or with a breaker bar. Last evening after it arrived we tried it on the stubborn locking nut. It took a couple of goes at the different settings before it finally came out on the highest setting. Had it not been for the Ryobi it would have meant getting someone to drill out the stud, which would not have been easy.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersHopefully you’ve got some 4AH batteries, because this puppy is power hungry. I run through the 2AH’s VERY quickly. Other than that, it helped get the axle nut on my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 off that I’ve been struggling with forever. I snapped a 1/2 extension, 1/2 ratchet, and a 1/2 breaker bar. Bought a heavier duty breaker bar and still couldn’t get it. This impact wrench didn’t take it off either, but after 3-4 batteries worth of cranking, I was able to loosen it with my breaker bar! Win!

The impact is fantastic and of professional standard. The unit I was sent however had definite signs of prior use even though it was sold as ‘New’.

I don’t mind buying used but the condition should be reflected in the description and price.
