I could not be more satisfied with my cymbal. It sounds better than I thought it would. 5 stars.
The 18″ AAX-plosion crashes have been my favorite since they came out.
I’ve been a professional drummer for 28 years. I have A LOT of “top tier” cymbals. I have mainly been a Sabian customer for the last 10 years, but have several Zildjian K’s A’s and A Customs. This is a really nice cymbal. It’s gives a dark full tone with a long decay. You can ride the bell and it will give you a dark cutting dry short ding. When I need to make a bell sound but don’t want any ride wash, I go to this cymbal. I’ve played this cymbal in several environments and situations and it doesn’t disappoint in a small or large room. Lightly played, the cymbal gives full low undertones and when it’s time to let lose it can be commanding with it’s low dark punch. When you hit this cymbal with a smaller cymbal, it fills up the space VERY nicely, it really is my new favorite cymbal to hit with a 16-17 inch or when I need a solid dark statement.
I absolutely love this cymbal, it’s bright quick attack is unmatched and is one of my favorite cymbals.
Always loved the sound of Sabian cymbals, great quality and sound to meet all playing styles
Not crazy about the new logos on the bottom side of cymbal. Sounds great and finish is perfect.
Love the range of expression of these cymbals. I am not an expert but I was looking for crashes with no “gong” undertone, just an awesome CRASH sound. Love this 16″ and the 19″ as well. When playing softly you can really get a great variety of sounds and full hits into them have a great quick explosion with zero harsh high “zing” or low “gong” after frequencies. Just CRASH-shhhhhhh. Perfect.
This cymbal sounds amazing. Very bright and great sustain. Highly recommend
My son loves his new cymbal and it sounds great.
Recently use this crash for a recording session. Came out amazing
The sound was crisp with a fast attack. Just what I was looking for.
I was surprised by this crash. It is loud if you want if to be and very clear and cutting. I play it when we have bigger venues right now.
Excellent sound. This cymbal has clean ring to it and adds much to the high end sound. Sharp looking too. Great cymbal!
I love the sound, it has this fast attacking sound it sounds like an explosion it cuts through music like nothing’s happening!
I don’t play sabian but i bought this for an old friend of mine who plays sabian and he had been wanting this cymbal for a very long time so i surprised him by having this cymbal sent to his house and he fell in love with it automatically!!!!!
This cymbal has now become my favorite cymbal. It’s a warmer cymbal sound than you would expect from a 16 inch crash. Also, the sustain on this thing is brilliant. I have a 19 inch Sabian AAX with this 16 inch right next to it and they sound great together. Great cymbal and great price.
I’m that guy who has pretty much purchased every cymbal on earth, played em, and returned the ones I don’t like. This one is a keeper. Cuts through the mix, but isn’t obnoxious. Great for accents or crashing, but doesn’t ring out into eternity like the regular X-Plosions.
For reference, my setup is 18 AAX Fast Crash on the left, this 19 AAX Fast Crash on the right, then an HHX Xplosion Crash to the right of that. It’s the only combo that’s stuck for me.

This is an ideal crash cymbal for rock, jazz or blues. Thin and very responsive!
Just an awesome cymbal, loads of fun to play, nice bright sound, a little heavier than the Zildjian A custom 18 inch, so it gives a little more depth and darker sound to it, which is nice because it adds variety to your kit and also doesn’t sound tinny.
Bought as a gift…Sounds great! Don’t recommend for beginners
My first Sabian purchase was this 14 in. fast crash and convinced me to continue my collection by adding more from their AAX/HHX lines. This crash has a quick decay, making it great for accents and middles of passages more so than a larger-sized impact crash. Great tones and sonic profile that fits with my newly added HHX Evolution cymbals as well.
Gave this as a gift to my son. He said it sounded great.
I have several different cymbals from 3 different brand lines. This cymbal quickly became one of my favorites. It has a very bright sound with quick decay, which is necessary for the smaller area where we play. If you’re looking for a long, dark sustain, this is NOT the cymbal for you. However, if you want a distinct, crisp, bright flash sound with a fast decay, then this is an excellent choice. If you’re playing in a large or open area, the best use for this cymbal is as an accent, as it is a step above a splash. But it is more suitable as an economical easy hit cymbal when playing in a smaller auditorium setting.
This is a great cymbal for big sound but I don’t think it’s lower volume dynamics bring out the full character of it as well. It responds very quickly to the stick with an initially bright explosion but rapidly resolves into a darker decay and a beautifully mixed undertone. At low volumes it is purely a darker cymbal and the bright characteristics are much more subtle. The lathing on the middle layer is interesting, very scratchy and eats up the tips of my sticks (wood tip) if I play it frequently, and playing from the outside edge give too much wash for this to be a great sticking cymbal, however the bell sounds outstanding and has a crisp and clear punch in it.
I have two set-ups and for my big kit I play pretty much nothing but rock and roll in every iteration it comes in and this cymbal absolutely made the first round draft as my main crash. I have no brand loyalty, my kit is covered with Meinl, Zildjian, Dream, Istanbul, and Sabian cymbals and this is my favorite new addition. For anyone who likes bigger crashes with faster decays and a wide dimension of sound this cymbal would be an outstanding choice!
Very bright, crisp sound.
In retrospect it might not fit as well with my other cymbals as I had hoped, but that was no one’s fault buy my own–my other cymbals are a bit darker, and this is bright and crisp–so just be aware what you’re getting into!
I might recommend going with the 18″ if I was buying again.
his cymbal is awesome .. it cuts through live and sounds fantastic
When I ordered this cymbal, I was kind of skeptical on how it was gonna sound. Let me tell you, this is by far my favorite crash cymbal I’ve ever owned.
Decent sound but cuts through very nicely, stands up to a helluva beating from me. stands up to cracks better than other name brands, I will continue to use aax from sabia
This is a fantastic crash. Big, loud, and very fast. Bright, but not too focused. I am a hard hitter and have broken one already — not the cymbal’s fault, trust me — and went right back out to buy another.
I normally would never buy a crash that’s any smaller then a 16inch, but I found this one for around $70 so gave it a shot. I’m glad I did,it was well worth it. I might just buy 15’s now for my smaller crash, even if I can’t find one this cheap again it’d still be cheaper than a 16 and does the trick just as well.
This Cymbal has a explosive sound I’m loving this cymbal it defiantly deserves 5 Stars this is a hot produc
This cymbal was added to my already existing set of Sabian cymbals. It was received in near perfect condition, there is one slight marking in the varnish but that will polish out with a little Flitz and buffing. I saved a ton of $$$ from buying this brand new in a music store so that makes me really happy! The cymbal has great tone and sound projection – Thanks!
Great sound. It crashes when you hit it with the stick. I like the sound it makes. Also, it looks pretty.
I bought this to replace my 16″ Zildjian Medium Crash to use as my main Crash/Ride (I’m slowly changing to Sabian after many years of Zildjian). This cymbal was quite a bit darker and lower pitched than that 16″ Zildjian. I’m looking for a higher pitched cymbal for this duty and this wasn’t it. I put my venerable 18″ Zildjian Rock crash in instead as it was higher pitched than both of these other 2. I do use the 18″ AAX anyways as my token dark cymbal sound. It has a rich sound but does have some overtone which seems to get lost in the mix. Great looking cymbal with a finish that is more brilliant than what is pictured.
I love Sabian cymbals, and for the price, I couldn’t pass on this deal. I am keeping my eyes open for more deals.
one of the best cymbals on my set now. it is my new “go to ” crash cymbal. would def. recommend this cymbal to anyone.
My son loved it! Just as he thought it would be. Perfectly wrapped and couldn’t be more satisfied. Well made!
I replaced an APX 18″ crash and this sounds much better. Great price as my local shop was almost double in price.
I don’t know why the more expensive, “drier” cymbals are more coveted, because this cymbal cuts through a hard rock band no problem. It crashes quickly, has very pleasant overtones, and projects well. It’s the crash cymbal next to the high hat– the equivalent of an MVP position for crash cymbals on my kit…
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll love it as much as i do.
Really satisfied. It has a great sound, is the second time I have one of this because of its quality and price.
Has a sharp, great sounding crash and sustain….neat to ride as well. Have a set of x plosion add ons and very happy..
Sabian has in my opinion the best quality around. Great sound, i love the cut through of the brightness, and you can beat these like a red headed step child. Great on the big stages, in the clubs or theatres, or just in the jam room. Hear my Sabian AA and AAX’s at http://www.thebeggarsbest.com
I got this Cymbal for the amazing price of $169! It was worth every penny. The sound is terrific and the finish is beautiful. It is basically Sabians version of the Zildian A Custom. The cymbal is great and I love it! Highly recommend.
I have both 16″ and 18″ Sabian AAX X-plosion crashes and this 17″ Fast Crash compliments my brass very well. It is a little higher pitched than my 16″ crash especially at the top end. It sounds a little “lighter” than my other X-plosion crashes, mainly because it’s a little thinner. It speaks quickly and then ducks out of the way – exactly what a fast crash is supposed to do. I believe it compliments my 16″ and 18″ AAX X-plosion crashes very well. If anyone bought the 16/18″ Sabian AAX crash pack like I did, and you want another cymbal, this 17″ Fast Crash is a good choice.
The Sabian AAX series is a good sounding series, a little darker than Zildjian A Custom series, if you are a Zildjian player (like I was). I bought the Crash Pack because I needed a new cymbal setup and the Sabian AAX pack was convenient.
It arrived quickly and was undamaged. Thank you!
Awsome as hell!!!!!!! this cymbal is worth the money and the wait im only 16 and started drumming 1 year ago and saving up for this was the best thing i evah did
Warm, Bright, Cutting, excelent response, brilliant, without that metalic sound of other cymbals. I got this after my 16″ (same cymbal, different size) Just use it a bit to take out it’s real sound. I just complain that it came outside down in the box… some sort of china, i was really worried but after applying some pressure to turn it back to its original troubles ended
Although ive been playing drums for over 8 years i only recently began to seriously invest in my kit. I have zildjian zbt hats, ride, and splash which are mid-level quality cymbals so at first I was reluctant to spend over $100 on a single 16″ crash.
But i did my research and heard nothing but great things about the AAXplosion series so I bought it and WOW. Worth every penny. Not only does this cymbal have a brilliant finish but it sounds awesome and it is LOUD. If you are serious about your drumming I would seriously suggest overlooking inferior crashes and kicking in the extra cash for this excellent sabian crash its a little expensive but if taken care of properly, these things are an investment which you can later resell for not far from what you paid for it.
Ive been waiting 8 years to finally get/buy the AA family I’m a big Sabian fan, i haven’t had a crash in 5 years (not drumming all the time, time, work, money etc) been using a 10 inch Sabian Solar Splash, but now… I’m so in love with this crash, this is just 1 of AA wishlist cymbals, i took a video hope you enjoy it.
(And yes there is a mess in my game room >.>)
I bought this cymbal not too long ago to enhance my set and I must say that this is a great crash. It’s nice and bright (but not overly bright),nice and loud, and has a great attack. I absolutely love the AAX line of Sabian cymbals and I recommend this and the 18 inch X-plosion as well, which I also have. Everyone talks about Zildjian A customs and they’re great, but I think the AAX’s are as good or better.
Love this Sabian AAX X-Plosian Crash! Great sound. I have the 16-inch, 17-inch, and 18-inch AAX X-Plosian Crashes with my drumkit, and want to purchase an 11-inch AAX X-Plosian Splash! Buy this now! Great sound and quality!! This Crash is not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
