I thought I’d comment on a year’s experience with the Samsung. It’s proved to be a very good, reliable machine and a delight to use, day-in day-out (it gets a lot of use).
I love it, over the years I’ve had many lap tops, but this beats them all hands down, the usual fantastic Samsung quality.
Intel evolution i5: The amoled screen is crystal clear and sharp for watching Prime etc. I love it. The sound is good enough for sure. I sometimes link it up with a bluetooth sound bar for extra volume and to be able to control the volume. But I’m not deaf so it’s not essential. The video camera for Zoom is blurry and nowhere near as good as my lesser Samsung devices. I am considering buying an external video camera. I carry the laptop on a small piece of rectangular wood when I’m moving around to keep it stable. That’s only because it is light and thin which is a good thing in itself when at rest, (I don’t mean it’s flimsy, it’s not. It does feel well made) But in my personal opinion when the screen is open it needs to be held evenly across it’s base. The fan has never been as issue. It goes on occasionally and can be heard but its never been on for long. Overall, I am very pleased with it. Its primary uses are small business Office admin, personal study and entertainment viewing. It ticks all those boxes for me.
Love this laptop.
Light and compact.
Crystal clear screen
Super fast. Turns on super quick.
Keyboard is really comfortable to use
Camera quality isn’t great but I don’t really use it because my work laptop is used for teams not this one.
Good all round. Really like it. So happy I go i
If you have the issue with the laptop not turning off… drain the battery completely, leave off for an hour, charge up fully them turn it back on.. 100% fix. Nice and snappy lappy, good portable size and OLED screen is black and white difference to the competition.
Webcam is quality is bad… 2022 I would of expected better.
Opening the lid doesn’t tip up the whole thing, and start-up is virtually instantaneous – a real blessing. The fingerprint function of the On/Off key is the most reliable I have come across. Better connection options than many (I need HDMI). The fan is inobtrusive.
Display not quite as good as Apple’s but is still excellent: screen magnification is factory-set to slightly enlarged, but reduce it to 100% and it’s still excellent – can read 2 dense documents side-by-side.
Video is as good as you could want, but sound is better through headphones or buds.
I’m a heavy user and I hate a dull display, so a full battery charge lasts only about 6 hours, though it’s still long enough not to have to take the charger everywhere, and anyway the transformer is small and light. You can extend physical battery life by limiting max charge to 85%, but the jury’s out on how well that works, and it further limits charge life.
Nice positive keyboard, beautifully backlit in the dark (if that’s your thing). The large touchpad is surprisingly good: you can alter the sensitivity so your drooping thumb doesn’t shift the cursor while you type, and the adjustable scroll works beautifully.
My worst gripes are:
Camera is only 720p. Since I have to use Microsoft Teams a lot (heaven help me) I’d expect better resolution at this price.
And you can’t tell when Num Lock is on – it should have a light, like Caps Lock. The numeric keypad is needed for Home/End/Page Up/Page Down, and half the time you Page Down when you want “3”, though you get used to doing a test keypress first.
I’m not disappointed. I bought it because it was best for the price, and I need a large screen and Windows. I wasn’t seduced by the promotion of free ear buds, but I have to say I do love them!
