Usually I’m not a fan of cylinder vacuums as I don’t enjoy having to pull behind me a weighty vacuum, but I have to say, this is as lightweight as they come without feeling cheap & plasticky, it stays on its wheels and manoeuvres comfortably around furniture.
The power cord is super long, no problem reaching round the entire house, and has an automatic rewind on the power cable. It has a smart, flexible hose when needing to hoover in awkward spaces and under beds and tables — no more bending needed.
Another great feature, it has an easy to use and reach for LED smart display control panel on the handle — here you can power on and off — change the cleaning mode for different floor type (carpets and hard floor) and control the level of suction from low, medium to high. Alternatively on the body of the vacuum is a large on/off power switch alongside the retractable cord switch.
This vacuum has powerful suction, as let’s face it – that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day. It is much stronger than any vacuum I have ever used, even the lowest setting is impressive. It picks up powerfully across all floor types and it handles the stairs with ease using the multi surface pet tool and all the cornices and edges with the tools.
Easy to empty and easy to clean. This is a keeper!
In summary, this a powerful vacuum, cleverly designed, well built, so yes – it comes highly recommended.

    Utterly brillia

This is my 3rd shark vacuum cleaner and I am pleased to say that it does not disappoint. It is a lightweight 4kg, although the vacuum is a little bulky, and it is bag less so no extra expense on bags. I’ve never really liked bagless (apart from the sharks) as some can be difficult to empty and they can get jammed up easily but this is very easy and so far we haven’t had any blockages and we have been using for over a month now.
What I really like about my previous sharks are how powerful they are suction wise and what they pick up. It still really amazes me that I can use my other hoover (an industrial numatic which doesn’t have a filter- so vacuums up everything in its way) and still fill up the tank when using this after it- they seem to go deeper into carpets and get the finer dust.
It has a great Led smart display with buttons on the handle which saves you from bending down. The handle/pole also has a flex movement which aids in getting under chairs and sofas.
It comes with 3 attachments and has several cleaning speeds. It moves around very easily and has 360 degree wheels. It also comes with a really impressive 5 year warranty. I’ve never had to use shark customer service but from what I hear, they are very good at responding to and solving any problems.
I love the look of this vacuum and would fully recommend it. It is worth the price.

This Shark don’t bite however do suck up a lot of dust and dirt around your house. This is my first vacuum cleaner from this brand, I’ve been using a Vax Powerflex till now for over 7 years, so it deserved to retire and swap with this new and modern Shark Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

Arrived in a very well-presented box, I like when a company pays attention on small details and they design a visually appealing packaging, it gives you the feeling that this will be a great item even before you see what’s inside. Each item in the box were individually wrapped in a paper bag and separated with paper cradles to protect from any damage or scratches during the shipping. For me, who care about the environment this is absolutely an extra brownie point for Shark, using paper begs instead of plastic begs is much more echo friendly. Box included an instruction book, an extension wand, a 2m long flexible hose with a smart handgrip and small accessories like upholstery and curtain cleaner, crevice tool, anti-wrap turbo nozzle with rubber blade instead of the traditional brushes and the large duo-clean nozzle with soft roller and the anti-har wrap brush roll which is a combination of rubber and brushes. The built quality is superb, it feels like a premium product. Theis black and copper colour combination is definitely winner for me it is modern end elegant at the same time. Features with 4 wheels underneath which rotates in 360, it makes easy to move the vacuum cleaner easily on any surface. There are only 2 huge “buttons” on the vacuum cleaner, one is to turn on and off and one is for retracting the 2m long cord. The reason why this to buttons are so big that it can be easily pushed with the feet as well and you don’t need to bend down to push it. What makes this vacuum cleaner unique, as this is has no dust bag, it comes with an easily removable dust cylinder. The Cylinder can be removed just by pushing the designated button on the handle. There are two filters located under the cylinder one sponge and a felt filter, both washable and reusable, however this should be changed with a new one at least once every 1-2 year (this is my own recommendation) so the vacuum cleaner will last longer. One of my best features is the small LED light on the DualClean-head, I can see if I still have any dirt to hoover under my bed 🙂 but the most high-tech feature of this vacuum cleaner is the modern digital handle. It has a digital Smart Display and touch sensitive buttons to choose between 3 cleaning modes, 3 suction settings and start/stop your clean without bending down. There was a QR code on the handle if you scan the code with your phone, you’ll get a full instruction on how to use it.
The only thing I have not been mentioned yet is the power of the suction. Thanks to the digital handle on the hose, you can choose between 3 different suction speed. It has a powerful suction and catches any dirt or small dust with no doubt.

All in all, Shark is a good choice if you look for an upgrade, perfect for homes with pets, for small offices and even for cleaning your car thanks to the small attachments. Not the cheapest that’s for sure but it worth to pay the price in my opinion for a high quality, versatile and powerful vacuum cleaner.

This is the first ‘Shark’ branded cleaner I’ve owned, in the past I’ve had models from several major makers and the one this is going to replace (or should that be complement?!?) is a relatively expensive Bosch model. It’s not so much I have a problem with the Bosch cleaner, but it is relatively heavy and cumbersome in comparison to this Shark model.

The other big difference is the power rating, this one rated at 800watts so uses only about 2/3rds of the electricity of my older cylinder cleaner which in this new green age is something to seriously take note of. While this was an attractive feature to me I was admittedly a little concerned at first as to whether it would be as effective as my older machine. But I’d need not worried, this model from Shark is as effective cleaning as my older model, but is lighter, quieter and as already mentioned far more power efficient, I guess that’s just tech improving things.

However this replacement was not just about the efficiency rating of the cleaner, this offering from Shark offers a lot of extra features which make it a truly nice flexible package. As well as the usual basic things you get with a cylinder cleaner you also get a nice compliment of extra tools, something you don’t always find with other cleaners. Each of these is well designed and offers some nice extra’s.

When you unpack this cleaner the first thing you notice is that it is a lot lighter than you think it would be after having lifted the unopened box. The actual cleaner main unit is relatively small and very easy to handle as it is nice and light. It also pivots around nicely on the built in wheels when you are cleaning a larger floor etc…

The main tube/wand is as normal connected to the cleaner body by a flexible tube, the flexible part feels particuarly well made and likely to work well for many years. This is important as often on a cylinder cleaner the connecting tube can end up being the weak link, so you want one that is well made and robust.

The main wand/tube is quite a revelation though, to date every cylinder cleaner I’ve used has its on/off and all other controls on the body of the cleaner. On this model the functional controls are located on the main handle of the wand where your thumb will naturally land and consist of a number of small buttons and an informative LED display, this is much nicer than having to keep bending down to adjust things! The only controls found on the body of the cleaner itself is a main on/off switch and a cord retraction switch, but both of these are large and can be operated using your foot (although don’t go stamping on it!).

The other main feature of the wand is that it is actually articulated about halfway along its length. This is engaged by a button about halfway along the wand and allows the wand to bend at up to about 90 degrees so that you can effectively have the wand level with the floor and the other half vertical so you can clean under a bed, table or whatever without any contortions on your part.

This brings us to the other big innovation which is the main brush head. This is motorised as are many supplied with more recent cleaners, but also has a couple of extra tricks up its proverbial spout. Firstly it has the much vaunted Shark innovation of an ‘anti-hair wrap’ function, this is meant to prevent pet hair etc… wrapping round the main roller and causing it to clog up reducing the effectiveness of the cleaner. Personally I couldn’t really prove this one way or the other as I no longer have a dog and myself don’t tend to moult that often! But it looks as though it would be effective so I have no reason to believe it would not be. Another useful innovation are built in ‘headlights’ on the front of the main brush head. This is useful if cleaning under a table, bed or whatever as it helps illuminate the area you are cleaning so you can see that you’ve done a good job and not missed any bits!

There are other tools provided as well, the main one of note is a minature version of the main brush head. This has most of the features of the main brush head but is ideal for cleaning things such as stairs, furniture and other narrow areas that the main brush is simply too big for. This has a similar motorised roller which also appears to feature the anti-hair wrap technology. In addition you have a normal crevice type tool which is good for cleaning difficult to get to areas as well as reaching up to ceilings etc… You also get a small tool designed specifically for cleaning material covered furniture as well as the small motorised head, this is provided for more delicate materials I would suggest. These addtional tools can also be attached to the main wand using a supplied clip that can then hold several of these and keep them to hand with the cleaner.

Finally I should mention this cleaner is a bagless design. The main advantage to not needing a bag is of course ease of use and the fact you can’t run out of bags which usually happen at the most inoportune moments. To empty the cleaner you simply detach the part of the cleaner where the muck is collected, take it to your bin and then open a flap to empty it into the bin. This is way easier than having to open the body up, take the bag out, maybe have to empty that, re-fit it (or a new one), etc…

On the downside some people don’t like the fact you have to worry about filters on bagless cleaners. Personally I don’t find this a big issue, of course you occasionally have to clean them but this is not a massive task and is far greener and more efficient in the long run. Those filters also help to ensure that small dust particles don’t get simply recycled into the air while you are supposed to be cleaning, so they effectively make the cleaner a more effective tool.

As for value for money? Well there are admittedly cheaper cylinder cleaners out there, but they all have compromises and are not as innovative as this design. There are also models out there that are way more expensive than this one from Shark as well, I know my older Bosch model was considerably more expensive when first purchased. On balance I think for the quality of cleaning you get combined with the great tools and ergonomic innovations this is a good value for money bundle if you can afford it.

This Shark bagless vacuum is a great lightweight, easy to use bit of kit. I thought the headlight feature was a bit of a gimmick at first, but what a revelation! It is great for highlighting bits you miss, especially in dark corners and areas in shadows. The LED lit controls are handily located on the handset as opposed to the hoover unit itself so you are able to cycle through the different floor modes and suction settings on the fly. There are also several different configurations of the flexible handset to assist in cleaning up high and down underneath furniture without you bending about. Several attachments are included, one of which has a rotary function which is said to be good for animal hair (we don’t have any pets, so don’t know exactly how effective this is, although we are a family of five!)

We found the whole thing light and easy to move around, particularly compared to our previous Dyson DC24 which is an upright model and somewhat of a struggle to handle when doing stairs. Another great feature that improves on our Dyson is the power cord, which is not only long but also retracts at the touch of a button as opposed to manually winding around plastic clips. The general noise of the hoover is quieter than average, but we have noticed a loud whistle when the flexible hose is bent, for example when hovering stairs. When it comes time to put it away, you have a couple of storage options as detailed in the manual, so should hopefully be able to find a solution to suit your available space.

Overall, this is a great bagless hoover with lots of useful features. It looks good, has great suction power and has a number of clever design choices. As always with bagless hoovers you will need to clean and/ or replace the filters in order to maintain suction power long term, but so long as you are happy with that, this is a good choice.

I was very impressed with the packaging. Not even a scrap of plastic. Every bit of it was recyclable, which we promptly did.
It was easy to assemble and pretty much self-explanatory.
I was very impressed with the suction power of the shark. It cleaned beautifully.
It is easy to maneuver about, the vaccum itself is lightweight, but there is so much tech in the handle, it makes it quite heavy.
I loved that you can power on and off from the handle.
You can also change the floor type from the handle too.
With a little nudge of your foot, you can remove the floor section and quickly hoover edges, skirting and behind items. The attachments are on the shaft of the handle so it is a doddle to change your bits and pieces. They are also easy to knock off the handle, so be careful.
I love the headlights, it makes it easy to see what you’re sucking up.
It was very easy to empty the full cannister too.
The only downside is that when you hoover floor mats, the suction is so powerful that it sucks the mats up.
All in all, I love it.

I have used a lot of hoover brands but never a Shark. We have carpet and hard flooring so got to try both which was a bonus. I was impressed with the performance on carpet after only one use. There is definitely a plus to having a corded vacuum as opposed to a cordless and chargeable one. It lifts a lot of dirt as well as hair (human I may add not pet hair). You have multiple power settings too so if you have stubborn stuff on the carpet you can choose to use the higher powered suction. It pulls along easily enough when using it around a carpeted room. What I will say is that if you have to use the attachment to hoover high areas (such as corners etc) it isn’t that steady and you can guarantee it will fall over, but unless you have a stupidly long hose I don’t see a way around that. It has a number of attachments and the smaller one is brilliant for getting into nooks and crannies. I will say that even though it says it is anti hair wrap, my hair is quite long and I still had to unwarp some. What I will say though is that it certainly was easier to remove than my cordless model which wraps the hair so tightly you have no chance of removing it. It is reasonably light and easy to move around so overall I think this is a great option for a hoover. I was impressed with this brand and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this

This is the third Shark vacuum, I’ve owned in my lifetime.

My last Shark was a cordless one, so I was already familiar with all the parts; and only had to spend a few minutes becoming familiar with the canister portion. In fact, I’ll bet that if I kept the old accessories, everything would be compatible

The canister is supported by 2 large, fixed, rear wheels; and one smaller, swivel, front wheel. Due to the physics of how debris is moved through the dust cup, it is critical that you only operate the vacuum when all three wheels are on the same level (surface). This warning is not in the instruction manual, but is displayed on the motor base, and can only be seen when the dust cup assembly is removed (first picture).

In addition to thermal protection of the motor, this model has a motor protection valve. Similar to the relief valve on a pressure cooker; the motor protection valve opens if an insufficient airflow is passing through the hose & dust cup assembly (second picture). When the valve opens, you’ll know, because there will be a sudden change in pitch (high to low) from the motor. The valve will close, only when a sufficient airflow is detected moving through the hose & dust cup assembly.

At the front of the handle & hose assembly, is a suction control valve. Its purpose is to control the amount of suction force at the “business end” of the hose. It works by manually opening and closing a vent at the front of the handle (third picture). Keeping the vent slightly open reduces the chances of unnecessary open/close cycling of the motor protection valve. Even when the vent is fully open, the suction force is so great that; if you get your fingers too close to the vent opening, you can feel vacuumed debris hitting your fingers at an alarmingly high velocity.

Routine maintenance is straightforward, as per the instruction manual; although I strongly recommend that you practice disassembly & reassembly of the dust cup, motor and filter assemblies, when you first unpack the vacuum; while everything is “still clean.”

Speaking of filters, because longevity seems to be intrinsic to Kenmore canister vacuums, you might want to purchase 1 or 2 extra sets of primary and exhaust filters. No need for extra agitator drive belts, as I have never had one go out on me. Based on my previous experiences with Kenmore canister vacuums; you can expect an average unit lifetime of at least 12 to 20 years.

A few of my colleagues have fairly recently bought Shark vacuums, it seems to be the ‘in’ brand at the moment, so I was excited to try this one.
Having used cordless vacuums for a few years now, it is strange to go back to plugging and unplugging as you move from room to room, although to be fair, the long cord does allow most areas to be reached on one level without moving the plug. The plus with this though, is that it can be stored away in a cupboard out of sight and doesn’t have to sit on a docking station.
Apart from the kitchen, our house is all carpeted, we don’t have pets, but do have a bushy haired man child who sheds hair wherever he goes. I was happy to stop having to remove rollers and cut and pull hair off them.
This machine is reasonably quiet when operating, and although a bit noisier on the higher setting, it is still not at all loud. The buttons on the handle are clear and make it easy to switch between hard floor mode and carpet, and adjust the suction power.
The cylinder moves easily on it’s wheels and so it is not at all heavy to use, even when doing the stairs it is not too much of a chore to lift it every few steps.
The LED lights help show up every speck of dirt and the bend feature of the handle is great for getting under furniture without the operator having to bend too far down, with my advancing years, this is definitely a benefit.
I do find the dust collector easy to empty compared to others I have tried that need fluff and hair pulled from various crevices. A quick brush out with a wire handle brush gets the last of the dirt removed easily.
There are the usual attachments that are handy for cleaning high surfaces, and a smaller fitting that would be good on cloth furniture, but my sofas are leather, so I get more use out of the wand attachment to reach between the cushions.
The cord retractor works quickly and well to wind the cord back in when you are finished.
At time of review, this is priced at just under 250, around 50 less than the full price, but still a bit pricey for a cleaner that is not cordless, however it is a good machine and I would recommend it.

This is definitely a stylish great looking vacuum. It comes with an upholstery brush, stair brush, crevice tool and larger head for carpets and hard floors.
For hard floors this is fantastic. It glides across the floor with ease, and the strong suction picks up. everything. It easily gets underneath furniture and has a long reach.
The stair attachment is fantastic! It has a silicon paddle that rotates while the suction picks up everything it touches. Silicon is s good idea and plastic paddles, as plastic ones can and do break, reducing the effectiveness of the vacuum.
Cleaning stairs was so easy, as the hose is so long I didnt even have to carry the vacuum up the stairs as I worked.
I tested the main attachment on a short pile carpet. For me here is where it dissappointed. I hoovered the carpet with cat hair. I ran the hoover over this hair at least 20 times and it still didn’t budge! That is so annoying. I then used my usual upright and the hair was gone in a few seconds. If you have pets and carpet it could make hoovering cumbersome and time-consuming, not to mention frustrating.
The suction is very good for ordinary dust (not pet hair) , but I found that I had to pull the hoover backwards towards me as forward was really hard work and very tiring.
The vacuum design is beautiful. It looks good, and the cord is neatly stored away inside the unit with just one touch. I like that the hoses are very long so cleaning at height is easy.
This is bagless – which saves you money as well as protecting the environment.
It’s also very light and compact so once you’ve finished you just unclip the hose and store away easily.
Overall a good hoover for hard floors and stairs, but as I said above, gives good results, but is hard work on pet hair on carpets in comparison to my existing upright.

    Useless for cat hair!

I previously had an upright cordless shark vacuum, which I absolutely loved and was gutted when it got damaged as I’ve never had such a good vacuum, so I jumped at the chance for this one.

This bagless cylinder vacuum is as powerful and efficient as you would expect from shark and this particular model comes in a rather sleek black and rose gold/copper colour.
It’s surprisingly light for this type of vacuum and moves effortlessly over the floor as it’s got wheels that turn 360 degrees so no getting stuck in corners!
It cleans hard floors as well as it does carpet and comes with 2 brush heads. The smaller one is perfect for the stairs.

Having the anti-hair wrap function on the brush head is an absolute must for pets or just for the never-ending supply of hair that seems to drop out of everybody’s head on a daily basis in our family! Judging by the amount I hoover up, I’m surprised anyone has any left!

The suction power is, as always, fantastic. It makes such a difference and one of my favourite things about shark – the headlights!! I LOVE them! It might sound daft, but they make such a difference! I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve vacuumed somewhere, thinking I’ve covered everything, only to find afterwards that I’ve missed a bit. The headlights make sure you can see exactly what you’re doing, even in the dark corners.

There’s a good length cable on this (9m) with an efficient auto-rewind and the brush head tube flexes and bends so you can effortlessly clean under tables and beds etc without having to bend or get on your knees (another great design feature that makes me a shark fan) and the attachments allow for a good reach, making the jobs a lot less effort.

The LED screen and the button on the handle, rather than the cylinder, makes it simple and easy to control and change between the power levels (there are 3) and you can see at a glance via the screen. The dust collector is easy to empty too.

It takes up a bit more room than an upright, but not excessively so. Besides, the power, functionality and manoeuvrability of this far outweighs the slight difference in storage space.

In my opinion, although these aren’t cheap, this shark is well worth the money, as it is without a doubt, superb!

I have an upright corded hoover and and upright cordless but find them difficult to push sometimes due to back and shoulder problems so was keen to try this. The vacuum cleaner is lightweight and glides behind you with little effort on every surface except large thick pile rug in living room were it took a little effort and had to pull a little more. The vacuum is easy to use and has great suction power picking up dust and pet hairs easily.I love the long tube and the little orange head which is great for upholstery and stairs and long tube makes removing odd cob web a doddle. There are few negatives though I found main head too thick to go under edges of couch and it’s quite bulky to store.I have cats and dogs and although this picked up hairs easily the brush had to be cleaned quite often so if pet owner recommend upgrade to anti hair wrap model. This is powerful vacuum cleaner and has become the main hoover I use as easier for me but Ive had vacuums at half price perform as well so a little expensive but I know Shark is brand leader so maybe after service justifies some of cost?.3.5 stars

Fantastic cylindrical vacuum. It is light weight and moves around with ease. I was able to use it on both hard flooring and carpet with no issues. I found the suction on this hoover to be of a high quality which meant that it did save me some time as I did not have to keep having to repeatedly going over the same spot.

I do have a little dog, though he does not shed much fur when I brush him some of the fur falls out. I found that this hoover did suction the fur well. It is a bit towards the pricey side… that being said I do appreciate that it is a bagless vacuum meaning that you don’t have to spend extra money on purchasing bags!

It does come with three attachments…which are fine for the smaller areas or your sofa (if yours is the fabric kind) or even in between the sofa cushions in the hard to reach areas. But overall I did prefer the largest attachment the most as I found I got the most use out of it for what I needed. My house is mostly hardwood flooring with a few areas that have carpet rugs on them.

I would recommend if you’re looking for a lightweight hoover. Just keep in mind that this vacuum is a cylinder type and not standalone. So if you do not like a cylindrical machine rolling behind you when hoovering then this may not be the one for you.

    Hope this helps!

Shark will forever be my favourite brand for vacuum cleaners.. I will never change back to any other brands. This is because the absolute amazing quality, stability and suction power shark vacuums provide, at an outstanding price. I always recommend shark to my family and friends when they ask what brand is best, because they really are in another league, and beat every other higher end brands I’ve tried before.

So let’s talk about this particular vacuum cleaner, it’s the first shark vacuum of this type of style I’ve tried, as I already have the corded stick version. This vacuum comes with so many extras, I was super excited to find out that it had a rotating head attachment for small areas like the stairs, because that’s something I usually struggle most with, with my current vacuum. A rotating head really gets into the carpet fibres getting out all the dust and pet hairs. It also has an upholstery tool meaning I can get my cats fur off my sofa too!

The screen on the handheld stick is so posh! I was very impressed that I can choose from 3 different suction settings, and transfer from carpet to hard floor with ease and the press of a button!

The anti hair wrap feature is also brilliant for me, as I’m always taking apart my current vacuum and cutting my long hair pieces out of the bristles, but not with this one!

It’s pretty lightweight, and moves around quite effortlessly. It can be used it so many different ways for all areas of the house. The only downfall for me is I get a little flustered and tangled in the cord and pipe when moving around with the vacuum, something that I don’t struggle so much with my current stick version.

However, this is an exceptional vacuum cleaner made to and outstanding quality. You can cover absolutely every area of the house with ease with this vacuum. It’s definitely made to last you many years.

Can’t beat a shark vacuum cleaner!

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. Its also the only vacuum with headlights I’ve ever owned, I expect this vacuum has a better chance of passing an MOT than my current car.

At first I thought this vacuum was overpriced, but I was happy to give it a go and find it’s faults. It wasn’t until I had hoovered everything I owned that I realised I couldn’t really find any.

The vacuum is very light and easy to move up and down stairs. It’s footprint is pretty small so storing hasn’t been an issue at all. It comes with lots of different attachments – the usual suspects of course (crevice, small) but also a specialist pet hair remover. This attachment to me at least is worth it’s weight in gold – I have russian blue cats and black carpets, also mostly dark furnishings. This attachment has finally removed all the hair I didnt even know was there.

The suction on this vacuum is good, maybe even too good. I find you have to adapt your style, pushing it forward can be tricky sometimes just because the power is so strong. But I couldn’t mark it down for that.

The handset itself is fantastic and simple. Are you on carpet or hard floor, and how strong do you want it. That’s it, other than the on and off button. These are very responsive and make changing from one to another a breeze.

As much as I made fun of the headlights initially – I can’t imagine not having them now. These are fantastic for seeing what you may have missed, especially in places you don’t usually see (under sofas and cabinets particular). And the bendy attachment makes getting under things so much easyier than with a conventional one.

I didnt want to like this vacuum as much as I did. One because of the price, however I can see how it’s justified. And secondly, because it means I’m the guy at the water cooler telling people about how my greag new vacuum has headlights…

Five stars all day long – would, and have recommended

I liked this machine very much. I was astonished how much dirt it lifted from a hallway/lounge floor, which had previously been cleaned by a well known other make. It is so simple to operate. Once you switch power on from your wall socket, and pressed the on/off foot switch, the machine will remain off until you operate the switch on the handle which is a pressure switch. So from the handle, you can select three levels of power, and a flat surface or a carpet surface. Flex goes into the body of the machine-storage is operated by the normal foot switch. all the parts are supplied, namely a large multipurpose head with a light, with a hair proof head. I dont really know how well this works- but the large head is terrific, it lifted so much dirt from a previously cleaned carpet it was jaw dropping. Stairs, love it, little mini beater fastens on to the flex and wow, I think my stairs are better cleaned that they have ever been. It comes with a nozzle/crevice cleaner as well. Missing? I would say a soft brush attachment for the skirting board junctions with the wall- you know how that collects dirt. It does come with an upholstery attachment which works just fine. Emptying- easiest thing- main engine unit comes off the body of the cleaner, and you then press a red catch down a little, the bottom swings loose and out comes your dust. Filters are cleaned with running water and left to dry for 24 hrs. It all arrives very securely and well packed- I should say double packed, in a strong cardboard box within which is the box containing the machine. I like this machine so much I will probably buy another for one of my children who has moved house. The cleaning power is so good and it shows with the dirt you collect. The variable power high medium, low, is a nice extra for any fabrics you need to take a little bit of extra care over.

I am a big fan of the shark brand and as such this would make this our second shark hoover in the house and the third overall with a wired upright I bought for my mum.

The cordless upright we have in the house has always done us well. It’s just not brilliant if you want to give the house a deep clean all the way through in one sitting. The hoover itself is good but the battery needs charging after the second room really. This is where this hoover comes in.

This benefits from still being bagless so there is no hidden costs that will sting us later on. It also still has the lights on the head piece to help see the dust it’s collecting. The wand has a few settings that deal with Botha the floor type and the strength of the suctions. It also comes with a few accessories for tough to reach corners and materials as well as the pet brush attachment.

The cord does pack away quite conveniently with a press of a button.

At full pelt though I was a little concerned the hoover had been burned out as it just stopped and wouldn’t turn on. It does turn out this was due to overheating I believe but I would have expected a little better from shark as I’ve not experienced this with the other vacuums we have of theirs.

A good vacuum but probably not for professionals or occasional deep cleans.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersComing from A household with 2 heads of long hair and a very hairy shedding Labrador the self-cleaning brush roll is genius — it separates and removes hair with ease and no more having to detangle long hair wound around the roller.
I’m not a fan of cylinder vacuums and having to pull behind me a weighty vacuum but I have to say, this is as lightweight as they come without feeling cheap & plasticky, it stays on its wheels and manoeuvres comfortably around furniture.

The power cord is super long — I had it plugged in in the hallways and went around the living room through the kitchen and did a full circle back to the hallway with a bit of cord left — so that is hugely impressive. Automatic rewind on the power cable.
Each connector clips in and out easily enough and once it is in it stays in & no falling out while you’re hoovering.

It has a smart flexible/bendable hose when needing to hoover in awkward spaces and under beds and tables — no more bending needed.
Another favourite — it has an easy to use and reach for LED smart display control panel on the handle — here you can power on and off — change the cleaning mode for different floor type (carpets and hard floor) and control the level of suction from low, medium to high. Alternatively on the body of the vacuum is a large on/off power switch alongside the retractable cord switch.

Powerful suction — this vacuum has it – much stronger than any vacuum we have ever used, and we have an expensive branded vacuum that can’t be compared to this vacuum for suction. You have three levels so ideal to use a low speed for small loose carpets/mats.

Picks up powerfully across all floor types as well as brilliant at picking up pet hair — on our tiled floors the light shows up the dog hair and dust and then it’s sucked up instantly leaving no hair behind. As well as excellent for carpets — my carpets haven’t looked this clean in a long time (time for binning that branded hoover)! It handles the stairs with ease using the multi surface pet tool and all the cornices and edges with the crevice tool.

Brilliant for my craft room that rains glitter. I had dropped a pot of glitter a few months ago and nothing could suck up the glitter where it has fallen in an awkward spot but with the crevice tool the glitter (and more) was done and dusted along with all the little bitty things a craft room collects.

Includes the multi surface pet tool, and upholstery tool. Easy to empty and easy to clean. This is a keeper!
I would call this a powerful vacuum, cleverly designed, well built, does an excellent job of cleaning the entire house including stairs and the craft room. Highly recommend.

This Is A Keeper - I Do Highly Recommend

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Users(Video is me just vacuuming the house and various bits)
So my current vacuum is a hetty. I was very excited to try this new shark vacuum out and I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed.
The whole vacuum looks flawless and smooth and well thought out. It rolls around after me, much easier than hetty ever did (although she’s still reliable)

Iv been using this for a week now, I will update if anything goes wrong but so far it’s done amazingly well. We don’t have pets but I do shed a lot of hair (medium length) but I also have two messy toddlers.
I took this vacuum to the worst areas of the house, the kids bedrooms where I’ll be honest haven’t been vacuumed in a good while! The vacuum got so much dust I didn’t even know was there. I purposely went for some larger bits on the floor (ripped paper) and I was surprised the vacuum consumed that too and didn’t get it stuck, the suction is brilliant!

I love the lights too, they are very helpful in seeing bits on the floor, especially hard floors and under darker areas. My son also loves it, I assume he thinks it’s a car with headlights!

The bagless aspect, I love it! I bought so many expensive bags for my hetty in the past that this will be a money saver. It’s really easy to remove the tank and open it for the bin though I will say it did spill some out when releasing (from the tube the dirt goes into to reach the tank) it took about 5 days to fully fill the tank but I wasn’t vacuuming the upstairs each day, just once upstairs and a few times downstairs each day as the kids would make a mess.
The vacuum managed fine on our big rug, picking up bits I couldn’t see like tons of sand I didn’t even realise had been there!

On the carpets, our carpet isn’t very dense so I can’t comment on a thicker kind but on our basic carpet it did very well and moved around well but I did kind it harder to navigate when on the higher suction power. The lower setting felt much easier.

The suction settings (low, medium and hard) you can hear the difference in power when changing the settings. The lowest is very quiet for a vacuum, you could do that while a baby is napping upstairs in my opinion. The lowest setting still picks up most dirt, I tend to keep mine on the medium and it works wonderfully.
Highest setting is great for getting something that’s imbedded in the carpet.
When switching on the vacuum it automatically puts the settings on hard floor and medium suction so you’ll have to change it each time if you don’t have hard floors which is simple enough with a press of a button.
The carpet setting is louder than the hard floor setting.

    The attachments.
You get three attachments, one is a smaller vacuum head for your sofas and upholstery, this seems to work on suction power rather than connecting to the vacuum electrically. That worked well on our messy sofas as the kids tend to leave crumbs wherever they go, especially the sofas it seems!
The other attachments are more of your basic ones to get to smaller areas the vacuum ant reach otherwise. I do think it could have really benefited from a brush attached to one of the heads but maybe this is done to stop a build up of dirt?

The vacuum is corded, there’s pros and cons to both corded and cordless. Corded vacuums seem to have more suction power and you don’t have to worry you won’t have enough time to vacuum everywhere. I have owned a cordless but he is very old now and doesn’t hold much charge at all and isn’t very strong.
Obviously the cordless vacuums have the perk of not being tied down to a plug, the stairs are especially easier to do with a cordless.

So overall, I do really like this vacuum and I will continue to use it as it’s the best one Iv had so far. Price wise, it’s up there with the top brands and it shows from the quality. I will update the review if anything bad arrises, if I don’t then it’s safe to assume all is going well!

    UPDATE
Had a few blockages in the hose, it seems quite susceptible to them but fairly easy to sort out and locate via pressing the hose. Iv taken apart most parts now and it’s all been easy and straight forward, no tiny screws. At some point the main engine/machine stopped working and I thought I had broken it but after emptying the tank, it worked again so possibly a sensor issue? The tank wasn’t totally full so I’m not sure why it was upset with me. For these new issues, Iv taken a star off but the hoover is still going after being used a lot so it still gets a thumbs up from me personally.

Firstly the elephant in the room: Price. This is currently marked at 319.99 which is surely impossible since it has a cheaper, simpler main attachment that the other two version but for some reasons is also the more expensive. I shall therefore think it is a mistake that would soon be rectified (otherwise just get one of the other two).
But for power and overall design this vacuum is fantastic! and most of the features are surely showing the quality of the brand.
    I mostly love:
    – The very long and flat cable that allows me to move around the house from room to room without having to constantly move the plug in use
    – The suction power is simply incredible and most of the time I have to reduce the suction to avoid picking up entire carpets!
    – The swivel wheels on the bin work really well and the bin is light when used on the stairs
    – The small brush attachment is far more useful than expected for stairs and upholstery
    – The system to remove the main brush or detach the bin is effective, easy and reassuringly solid
    – The extendable main tube is one of the longer I have tried and even for someone quite tall (I am 5.11″) I do not fully extend it since otherwise will feel too long

    Not too keen on:
    – The flexible tube occasionally still get in the way as with all these bin type vacuums
    – The top handle for the main brush is not the most comfortable for me and I might need to get used to it.

Overall anyway I surely love it!

Price is SURELY wrong but I still love it and this is why:

So in this day and age accorded cylinder cleaner seems almost like a bit of an antiquity but it was refreshing moving from using a cordless Hoover to having a hoover they could properly do our lounge and living space thoroughly without requiring to change the battery! The other thing I like is that as well as being extremely quiet due to its digital motor is for me I found a pick up on hard floor and tiled floor is excellent. Due to it being a cylinder style cleaner I would say it is possibly the latest way for someone to do the hoovering with the cylinder just requiring moving round occasionally so for less able or weaker people this is definitely a lot easier to use than a cordless Hoover or an upright. As this Lena is Bagleys you simply lift away the inbuilt container and you press another button to dump it when you are over the bin so it is extremely clean with no faffing around. We intend to carry on using our cordless Hoover but four for a deep cleans moving forward we will be using this I also found the included roller head accessory very good for cleaning our fabric couch.

Firstly it looks stylish and instructions are very well written and very easy to follow ( some really good graphics).
So you get four tools all together
The main brush ( no rotating brush do you don’t get a deep carpet clean . But it’s easy to change from carpet to hard floors with your foot.
Crevice tool little short for me doesn’t really get deep into your sofa etc.
Upholstery brush I use this a lot curtains, mattress etc.
Pet power brush don’t have a pet so just sits around .
    Power switch and cable.
Easy to turn in simple tsp with your foot then you have three power setting on the main handle depending what your cleaning.
You need to pull out the 9 m of cable before you start but you have another button you can step on to retract.
    Bagless and filter’s
Great and easy to use waste container I found it easy to remove, empty and then replace ( dirt just falls out very little mess). Filters are easy to remove and wash not sure how long they will last ( time will tell).
Overall happy with the price 150 but for me having three long haired ladies in the house it does really pick up the hair. But cleaning ceilings, curtains , furniture and all the corners I find it govern good.

Easy to use not really for carpe

I’ve tried most of the big vacuum cleaner brands in recent years, but never tried a Shark. I’m won over instantly! This is a brilliant vacuum cleaner.

It comes very well packed in a box that has clear and helpful hints on getting started and big QR codes which links to a useful get started video and a link to register your vacuum cleaner (this process was very easy).

The main body of this Shark is really lightweight compared to other cylinder cleaners.

The 9m power cable is very generous and means I can clean the whole of the ground floor of my house without changing plug sockets (couldn’t do that with any of my previous cleaners). The auto-rewind of the power cable works perfectly.

The Shark’s body has good rubber feet and it’s stable on its end. The 4 wheels glide smoothly across wood, laminate, tiles and carpets. Pressing a button gently with your foot on the motorhead unlocks the pipe and allows you to move the pipe around on a ball joint with the head.

The main cleaning head is fantastic. It’s got its own motor – there’s an electric connection through the pipes. This cleaning head features anti-tangle technology and it genuinely works. I have a wife and four daughters with long hair so it was a common problem with previous cleaners. The headlight on the cleaning head is very helpful for highlighting dirt.

Having controls on the handle is a very good idea as it saves bending down to the main body to change modes. From the handle you can instantly switch between carpet and hard floor modes and adjust the power (3 levels).
Suction power is excellent and the motor head really helps too. After first use, I had accumulated a lot of dirt and hair, despite only cleaning the previous day.

It’s easy to change attachments. These are mostly fairly standard and allows for long reach cleaning of coving etc but my favourite is the small roller head for cleaning stairs which is very effective.

The main pipe folds and bends and moves all angles when attached to the moan head, allowing you to clean right under things.

Emptying the bin is simple and quick.

It’s hard to find fault with this Shark. But I do have a minor quibble. When you store it standing up, you can slot the pipe on the body of the cleaner, but this slot is to on side meaning the overall footprint is more than it needs to be. I’d have preferred the slot to be in the centre.

The whole thing is well made and easy to operate. A lot of thought has gone in to the design and tech of this Shark and it’s paid off. Highly recommended vacuum cleaner.

    Superb vacuum cleane

Upon unpacking & seeing how well it was presented in the box, the top quality along with the tools of the vacuum, all individualy wrapped up, well protected, the feel of the parts I knew it was at a high quality material used to make them. I put my vacuume together very easily even without the need to look at the booklet. A long wire is brilliant as now I dont need to unplug or replug. There are 3 speed settings, 2 floor settings for this Hoover ( carpet and hard floors ) Digital display on the hose is very a good idea as well, the bendable handle is also a great addition & certainly does help rather than going down on bending knees to get under furniture. The only thing i did find about the shark cylinder is if you have a long fibre carpenter / rug, the fibres do get stuck round the brushes & then the brushes stop spinning, the lights flash red & the only way I could get them to start spinning again was to actually turned it off, remove it off the rug then back on again this was with the brushes on but with my low pile carpeted stars the hoover is fantastic & the long cord certainly helps get to the top & bottom without unplugging & replug in a different socket. The attachments are greatly for getting into the tight high areas like corners, top of curtains, the top of doors etc

Good but hard to use on a long pile carpets

This came well packaged with not a bit of plastic. Everything is wrapped in paper bags that protect all the parts properly.
In the box you get the cylinder vacuum, flexology hose with control, Anti Hair Wrap floor head, crevice tool, multi surface tool, a pet tool that also has Anti Hair Wrap and tool holder.
I wasn’t sure about using a cylinder vacuum after many years of upright cleaners. I preferred that uprights have their own weight and you don’t have to press down on them.
Well, there’s no problem there, the floor head has a good weight to it so it stays on the floor.
The cylinder has an on/off switch and the retractable cable button, bagless dust bucket and washable filters. The hose is non twisting and on the handle there are touch controls for on/off, floor type and three speed selections. The wand has the flexology function that unhinges at the touch of a button that makes it easy to clean under coffee tables or beds.
As well as Anti hair Wrap, the floor head has a light on the front to help see in darker areas. This comes on automatically when the power is turned on.
After testing this out in a room that has a long haired cat living in it and has a medium piled carpet, I was happy with the result. Just with using the medium power it done a really good job and where I did use the highest power it was really good suction but not deafening.
The controls on the handle are good as you don’t have to mess around with the cylinder, it’s all there by your fingers.
The pet attachment is good for sofas and stairs. It also has an Anti Hair Wrap brush.
The only thing I would have liked to have included is a brush attachment. Most cleaners come with one and they are really handy. Perhaps they will do one as an extra.
All in all I’m impressed with this vacuum and would recommend.

    Powerful.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis Shark cylinder Vacuum is super powerful and works great.

I’m always impressed with Shark products and this vacuum is no exception, Great suction and easy to use.

I like the Led screen and buttons on the handle because it makes it super easy to switch between modes and power settings.

You get plenty of accessories for different cleaning tasks and the main brush head works perfectly and the anti hair wrap technology works well especially if you have pets.

Also I like the lights on the end of the brush head as it helps show dirt and hair on the floor.

The vacuum isn’t too noisy even on the highest setting.

Great quality and each part feels strong and sturdy, so should last a long time.

The flexi hose works well and let’s you clean and move freely and is great to get into hard to reach places.

The unit glides well on its wheels around the room so it makes it easy to move from room too room.

The only downside is that the vacuum is rather bulky so it is difficult to store but there are different ways to fold and arrange the whole unit to help fit in different areas.

Super easy to empty and the bin is a good large size.

The power cable is stored nicely inside the unit and with a push of a button the cable is pulled back into the unit.

Overall this is a great powerful vacuum cleaner by Shark but it is a large unit.

    Powerful but bulky

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy husband is a professional cleaner so he couldn’t wait to test this bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner. Disclaimer: we don’t have pets, and we have only hard floors in the flat, however we do shed a lot of hair (him more than me!).

The following is my husband’s verdict.

The button controls on the handle of the wand are really accessible and easy to use and the lights on the front of the head make it easy to see under furniture. The suction is strong and the power cord is of a good length and retracts well. The wheels on the main body move very freely.

    Negative points:

This machine would benefit by having a brush attachment to go at the end of the wand.

When standing on its end, for high dusting, you will always pull the machine over unless you are carrying it by your side.

Compared to our current vacuum cleaner, our trusty old Neumatic “Bertie”, which is approximately 15 years old, the wheels are noisy when used on a hard floor, so worth bearing in mind for those living in flats. The wheels also restrict side-to-side movement. On the plus side, we have now finally figured out what the weird wheelie noise from our next door neighbour is – he must have a similar item!

However, I must say that the vacuum is very good on carpet as we have tested in the hallway, which has deep pile carpet.

Personally, I am still left unconvinced by bagless vacuum cleaners because the filters always clog up and end up losing suction. The filters are also always difficult to clean.

The price this Shark Vacuum Cleaner retails for is, in my opinion, excessive, but still cheaper than other well-known brands of bagless vacuum cleaners.

I am however impressed with the quality of this machine and how sturdy it feels, and would be really interested to try one of Shark’s cordless models.
