The vacuum cleaner works very well , it is relatively quiet , picks up well and is a convenient size, we have a dyson which considering it is three times the price of this vacuum is certainly no better .
I am impressed and exactly what I was looking for. This vacuum is genuinely great. It’s a cross between a stick vacuum and a standard vacuum, the charge lasts me around 40 minutes. The suction power is great and being wireless it is so easy to use. It doesn’t feel like a “toy vac” like the last one I had. I do like that the weight is mainly at the bottom, it makes it easier for me, and the option to change it with pulling it out for stairs, etc. So far I am happy. Used the shark now for 2 weeks and love it.
I absolutely love this hoover, I have laminate and carpet flooring and the settings for both are great, so easy to use and glides across the floors, easy to empty and I love all the extra tools with it, definitely recommend.
This Shark cordless is the best one I have used. It is just like a corded one so feels more substantial. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Lightweight and very easy to use especially on stairs. Being cordless makes so easy to get out just for small areas without the hassle of plugging it in.
It is without doubt the best cleaner I have ever had
Nice design, not too heavy, easy to use, excellent powerful suction. Only criticism although it could be just me, takes a bit of pushing over the carpet. I’ve only just got it so I might be using it on wrong setting. Pet hair got tangled/caught on second row of brushes, not bad though, obviously didn’t test it on or take into account long haired German Shepherd dog.
When it runs it sounds a bit breathless – not what I expect. That to one side, it is a very clever piece of technology. Fantastic at vacuuming the floor, including dog hair and on hard floors and carpet. The expected life of the battery, before it needs to be recharged, is pretty accurate. So if you are expecting to do a lot with the cleaner it might be worth getting a spare.
Heavier than I expected but efficient and easy to use
Have used a Dyson for years moved to Shark this time because of positive reviews but mainly because the cordless model appeared to be similar in features to a corded upright as oppose to a stick which I didn’t want. I’ve been very impressed.
Cordless gives great flexibility and efficiency, you’re not tripping over or wheeling over the cord nor having to stop and unplug, replug when you run out of cable. Having the lift off for the stairs realy helps, the whole machine is light to carry. Battery easily does a 4 bed house in one go.
Suction and pick up is great. Emptying the collection box is very easy. Definitely recommend ICZ160UK model that we purchased
This vaccuum has good suction for picking up dog hairs and grit. It is good for doing the stairs as you can sit the powered lift away on the stair whilst using the attachment to clean. I do find it a bit heavy and the clip which attaches the hose to the wand does not stay in place very well. The battery seems to last to do the downstairs rooms before charging. It was easy to put together.
Pretty good and so easy to use with no wires, but really not as powerful as a traditional vacuum. If you have lots of hard floors it is absolutely fine, but the ‘carpet’ and hand tool settings drain the battery pretty rapidly. Unless you have a small flat I would suggest a spare battery is worthwhile. Not really powerful enough to do a car with lots of dirt in the carpet.
This is a brilliant hoover. Living in a static during a self build and had an cumbersome Henry. The carpet the Henry didn’t do the job on this carpet so bought this one and it does a brilliant job hoovering the dog hairs, mud they bring in and everyday fluff. It is small and compact. Love it! Easy to use and small enough to put away in our static cupboard. Battery last for the whole clean of my static.
There is a booster button for super suction which unfortunately you have to hold down. Bad design. Would have been better if the button was a one touch.
Very happy with this vacuum cleaner. Its lightweight, has great utility/adaptability, and does a great job. Very happy
I was absolutely amazed how much dirt and cats fur this machine picks, it’s fantastic. I had already hoovered through my bungalow so seeing this amount of dirt and fluff wow. I should have purchased one of these machine before.
Its really good but not as light as I expected, battery long lasting.
Ive been holding off this review for over 6 months and ill tell you why. I over the yeasr have had a plethora of hoovers and after apying astrinomical amounts of rsome of them and killing them with ease, i was eeing if i could break this hoover. I can’t.
The famous brand beginning with D, i have owned every model and they all die. V8 as an example , three replacement batterys, one dead hand set, etc, you become accustomed to them being disposable and then you get the latest model, as the back up Henry, you keep dragging around because the D””’n is dead, is getting too heavy.
I decided i would take a break from the ceratin brand, as id decidced I just wanted a hoover. Thats it, not because its this model or that, one that lasted.
I have abused this hoover as i do the rest, but it just keeps acting like a normal hoover. Bricks ( whilst not recommended im sure ) that the dogs broguht in, gone, money, gone, yeah as expecting it lets out a little whine when sucking up a 20 p, but the other bradn would need major surgery and if too severe glue. The shark, just keeps going.
Lights on the front are a great idea and holds a great charge, whole 5 bedroom house done in no trouble.
This sounds bizarre, but it does it job that well and with so much ease, it goes unnoticable, it just does it job. Not like some other brands where your risking it dying a death over a screw.
Fantastic job Shark, never thought id be reviewing a vaccum cleaner, but this is worthy, buy one.
I absolutely love this vaccum. It’s not light in weight but for the relatively heavy duties that it can do, I would say the weight is pretty reasonable for a cordless vacuum. It maneuvers very well and all the part are easy to take off abs put together again. Highly recommend to anyone who has so so experience with Dyson, don’t want to spend so much but want to invest in an easy to use, reliable and highly functional vacuum for a medium sized house (2-3 bedrooms).
The suction is very good and the detachable section for stairs is also very good but the hoover is heavy compared to other cordless hoovers
Shark make such good vacuums and with the Anti-hair wrap its brilliant. No more having to clean hair off the brush. I recommend you try it for yourself and you will be amazed.
My grandad has been struggling with his dyson and dyson is all he has ever had… but he loves this hoover. He now won’t have any other.
After experiencing cordless hoovers from dyson in the past I was very sceptical about trying another as they were so heavy and the power was so weak with the dysons.
So we took a leap of faith and bought and what a difference this shark is. The power is really good, it’s so light and easy to manoeuvre. The powered pull away part is just great to hoover the stairs, cars etc and again very light.
So my conclusion is that if your looking for a cordless hoover you will not find a better one than this.
Love it. It’s so much better than what we had in the past. Very manoeuvrable and great with long hair.
This is one of my better choices. Although I gave 4 stars for lightweight. I use the part that comes away from the complete hoover much more and that is very lightweight. was pleasantly surprised with the suction power. I had a Miele which I didn’t think could be bettered for suction. The Shark is just as powerful. I had misgivings about charging the battery when I wanted to use it but it is quick. Very happy with this purchase.
Best hoover yet! Extremely good suction, picks everything up! Wouldn’t hesitate to buy agai
Brilliant vacuum cleaner! The battery is more than long enough for my home. The shark is much quieter and more power than my old vacuum. Most importantly the anti hair brush actually works!
Great vacuum, well worth the money and very good for seeing the dirt that comes off the floors. The only negative is the battery life, running for only 16 minutes on boost mode it can be an annoyance.
I live in a bungalow and it’s ideal for going from room to room.I can do all my rooms with in the battery’s time allowance.Dissapointed with the weight it’s heavy than I thought.
I write this as a a technically competent bloke who needed a lighter more detachable vacuum post surgery. I cannot compare much as the last vacuum I bought was a Dyson DC02 in 1993.. ( the stair-hugging one).
Firstly, bear in mind that this is a DOMESTIC vacuum cleaner and therefore not suitable for industrial purposes.
Cons:
Short battery life, about 35 minutes, which is why I’m glad I invested in two batteries, both needed for a good clean.
Suction power is adequate for domestic purposes on normal carpets rather than deep-pile. Bin is a little small but I’m happy to empty regularly.
Pros:
After extensive research I went for this one as it did what I wanted it to .
I love the heavy head and the low centre of gravity of the lift-away unit. Taking the unit apart makes it easier to use on the communal staircase to my flat and the other one inside. The head unit can be lifted downstairs and assembled for front door entrance. I detach the lift-away unit and use with the fabric nozzle on the treads and risers of the stairs for an excellent clean with very little huffing and puffing.
Using fully assembled in my flat, cleaning carpets is a joy. At first when I I bent the stick backwards it made an alarming crack, but that was just because it was new.
Detaching the unit and going under the bed was as easy as I reasonably expected it to be, aided by the weight of the brush unit.
I haven’t vacuumed for a year under there so it was pretty grim.It was at that point I had to take out the sponge filter and spool, wash in lukewarm water (only) via the instructions and waited for them to dry .Also performed a little maintenance on the head unit making sure there were no blockages throughout (again, through a handy YouTube video I found online). I also washed the front roller on the unit and let it dry.
Using the detachable unit and wand / attachments for cleaning furniture, bookshelves and cupboard tops etc. was also quite easy.
Summary:
I can’t compare, but I’m reasonably confident that as a technically competent person who looks after his gadgets, this piece of kit should last the distance.
Reasonably content as it does exactly what I wanted it to do.
P.S.
I don’t have pets or long hair so I’d rather not comment on that..
This is brilliant! Easy to use, lightweight, brilliant suction which doesn’t decrease as the battery runs low and easy to empty and clean. I can’t fault it in any way at all and would 100% recommend.
Does a great job and battery life is plenty for my bungalow. Bit heavier than expected but a lovely vacuum cleane
Best hoover ever had 3 dysons before would never go back everyone should buy a shark you will never regret i
Bit pricey, but a great cleaner, if you have stairs l suggest you buy the powered brush as an accessory.
Does exactly want it is supposed to first class vacuum light enough to use easily but still has decent amount of rubbish capacity unlike some cordless cleaners good battery life
My other shark stopped working so we bought this one. It is so good not to have to plug it in every time. I love it! It is powerful, has two setting carpet and flooring and a boost.
Very happy with our purchase. Would highly recommend it.
Having tried several vacs over the last months and been disappointed by them all, I came to the Shark with a degree of uncertainty. My fears are completely unfounded though. To put it bluntly and without further ado, no lengthy reviews here folks, this is the best and most versatile vac that I have EVER used let alone owned.
Just perfect!
It picks up grit from a hard floor which my other cordless didn’t. I find it a little bit on the tall side and a bit heavy. Otherwise yes, it’s ok. Haven’t got any stairs to Sloan.
Replaced a dyson v6 with this. It seems to make very little noise in comparison to previous vacuums. So far so good it has good suction and have not seen much hair tangle going on in comparison to the Dyson.
Oh my word, this is such a great vacuum cleaner. I laughed at the fact it had a light but its actually really helpful and shows you just how dirty your floor really is.
It’s so much easier to use then my pull along plug in thing. Every part of it is easy and quick and well thought out. Nothings hard to pull apart etc. and so makes vacuuming much more tolerable. Great on stairs too.
My floors are clean!!! I love the weight of it.
Love this vacuum. Had a dyson v9, before. But this is a different league.
Suction is way superior. Battery is size of a beer can, and is removed and charged easily in small station.
Lift off facility is great, turns your upright, into a portable, with same power.
Cannot praise it enough.
The light on the front, what a boon.
Love mine so much, I’ve named him.
Brilliant just brilliant well worth the money, its an amazing vaccum highly recommend
I have only just taken delivery of the vacuum but my early impressions are of a favourable nature. I wanted a cordless device that was reasonably light and did the job efficiently with ease of operation. All that criteria has been met and I am extremely happy with its appearance and function. As long as it continues to maintain those qualities I will be one satisfied customer. Thanks Amazon for a very expedient and trouble free transaction.
After a few months of using this I can easily say that this is the best vacuum I’ve ever owned. It can be on the heavy side for some people, I found no issue with this.
Brilliant i was amazed how it picked up the dog hairs would highly recommend buy it now while it half price
Easy to manoeuvre, suction is good, battery lasts well and is easy to charge. Well pleased
After years of mediocre vacuums this one finally does as advertised. My last one died due to the hair wrapping (3 females with long hair in the house) … this one coped with it really well. Easy to charge and easy to release the hand held part for the stairs and the car.
Shark over the moon best investment for a long time
This is the type of machine I would have created myself – quality, ease of use and not too expensive. Happy so far but as with most things from China, only time will tell. When are we ever going to get anything made in the West?
Best vacuum we’ve had for years. Good value and great suction. I was dubious about about anti-hair roller but it really does work. Definitely recommend this vacuum.
I like the maneuverability of the machine but it is heavier than I I expected it is very good otherwise
I really like this so far. Does everything I want. Good battery life. Easy to separate to do different functions. Is a shame that even the nozzle doesn’t fit on the machine so we will see how long til I can’t find where I put it.
Really disappointed. The vacuum gets clogged up really easily and hair does get caught around the brush roll. Suction isn’t that strong either.
Nothing to dislike just as good on tiles or carpets.
Absolutely love this vacuum cleaner. A long charge too, which is great. Works on all types of flooring and easy to clean, but wish it held a bit more. The holder is quite small. I have looked at this on and off for a while and decided it was for me. So glad I did. Highly recommend.
Really like the hoover, only downside is the battery life. Would still choose this hoover over Dyson any day.
I like was slightly heavier than expected although it is quieter and is easy to empty.
Not bought for me but the elderly recipient is delighted with it.
This is my second cordless vacuum cleaner and is so much better than my previous one. So easy to use, I have tiled floors and it picks up the dust/bits from between the tiles, especially the cat litte
One of the best hover I ever used. Very good for carpet .. it sucks the dust out of carpet. Very happy.
Great product… easy to use… great suction… easy to empty .. highly recommend
Good all round hoover with easy to use instructions. A bit heavier than a dyson but more efficient .
Cordless is so much more convenient. I find myself just using it to clean when I spot a mess as it so light and quick to use. Battery life is good too.
I love this Vacuum I have the corded stick type from shark also ,this is I find sometime a bit stiff to push across a carpet unlike the other which just flies across .anyway it’s very light , charge lasts long enough to do 3 – 4 rooms . Very easy to empty dust bin is rather small tho. But it’s very ligh
Power is as good as a plug in. Doesn’t feel like it until you test the hose itself. So easy to use. Wife is over the moon with the no cord situation.
Nice powerful Hoover has reasonably long run time, takes three hours to recharge with provided charger but will allow you to clean your house twice for this charge( a little less if you use “booster button). Has plenty of useful features that let you can from floor to ceiling. Anti hair wrap thing works well but can still catch hair/ knitting will scraps around brush at times.
After using this Shark vacuum for a week I’m delighted, it’s light easy to use & highly manoeuvrable. I have a large house so I’ve ordered an extra battery but really pleased with battery life on one full charge. I bought to replace my powered Dyson which was heavy & awkward, this is a delight in comparison. I won’t be going back!
Waited a long time for a decent Hoover for dog hairs and this is the one !
Arrived early well packed and easy to use .
Well worth the money
good suction but awkward to empty and to add additional tools onto battery lasts quite well
Used for hard floors and carpet very good performance nice and light, bought as I have arthritis and this is much easier to use than previous vacuum.
I’m extremely pleased with this Shark cleaner. Its very efficient, good edge cleaning and picks up tiny bits and solids that normally would be left. Found the design very good and would recommend this vacuum.
brought this as was going to buy aother but read a review that changed my mind.this is much better for busy family use.we all love it.
Easy to store n light in weight easy to use
Perfect for elderly. No lifting heavy hoovers. Flexible head that turns easily into corners. No more brush and pan for sweeping kitchen floor etc.
Love the ease of use for tools. Easy to use on hard floors but heavy to push on carpet. Battery life quite good (this is our first cordless vacuum, so difficult to judge). Very well engineered – sturdy and very flexible in use. and easy to clean out. Big improvement over our Dyson, which was good as an upright but awful to adapt to tools or to clean.
Very user friendly- easy to use – very light – can be used for lots of dust lifting purposes.
I love my shark cordless vacuum, l love hoovering every day even if it doesn’t need i
This is the second one of this model I have bought, I have one and bought another for my Mam.
Love it as it is so lightweight and easy to empty.
Highly recommended.
Very easy to assemble. Nice to look at. Gets into small spaces. Will lie nearly flat in fact so was able to get under my bed without having to move same. Easy to charge with no screws to attach to the wall. Fits in my broom cupboard and would fit in a small space if you wanted to take off the handle. Nice bag to store tools. Easy to charge 50 mins max running time.Easy to empty I don’t have stairs but this is very adaptable so would suit any household. Price wise a little expensive but has a very good garentee.
I bought this cleaner so that I wouldn’t have to keep humping my main vacuum up and down stairs. I didn’t expect it would become my main cleaner for the whole house! I assembled it myself – it was simple – and I find it very easy to use. Yes the battery time is limited, but I actually cleaned most of our 3 bedroom house with it before the battery needed recharging and I carried it up and down the stairs with ease. I was surprised to find the suction is better than my main cleaner, I only wish I’d bought it sooner!
I’ve been a fan of Shark since I has a mains vacuum given to me a few years ago, so a rechargeable is just what I needed compliment the mains.
On first glance it looks like a standard upright with bagless collection but as you explore more, the other features show.
The collection is removable along with the hose for doing curtains, little dark corners and upholstery. You can also choose to take the rigid wand too so you don’t have to reach up. this makes it very flexible.
In the upright mode, you have 3 setting
Normal, turbo and flooring. You can switch between them at a touch of a button. On normal, the power head spins to help with pickup. On turbo, the head spins faster and there is more suction. Flooring turns off the head so as not to damage.
The battery last for about 30 minutes on normal, 20 on turbo. recharge takes a couple of hours from flat. There is light to indicate sate of charge/discharge. Removal of battery is easy with just a lift of a loop and pull up. No fidily buttons of catches. Once change just drop into base and it locks in.
A good selection of tools round this great set off.
Emptying the container is easy and done by pressing a catch and lifting away. A simple release opens the end and all the waste just drop into the bin.
Unlike a lot of rechargeables, the weight is all down low so less tiring to use.
Highly recommended.
My loves this Shark Cordless Upright Vacuum cleaner.
The suction is excellent on all surfaces and the rechargeable battery lasts for absolute ages.
Different settings are manually selectable for different surfaces and a ‘boost’ button is present should you wish a stronger suction power for difficult areas.
It’s not too heavy and feels good in the hand during use.
In addition to being light, portable and manoeuvrable a warning light illuminates when the battery charge is nearing it’s end and recharging is required.
The build quality is excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending this Shark cleaner.
The vacuum overall is a good model and suits the needs I have for my household. Cordless so no need to unplug and re-plug around the house to get every room, the battery is very easily removed to be charged, it reminds me of a camp lamp you would use on a camping trip. I would say although it boats a 50 minute run time, depending on the boost function and the size of the area you’re cleaning you’re probably looking at more of half that running time.
Two different modes, floor and carpet, but very easily interchangeable with the switch of a button on the handle along with a boost function. Not having to change heads/rollers makes it very convenient to switch between floor types. My house hasn’t got thick carpets so the suction is really good and picking up any hairs/dirt/fluff etc on just the carpet mode, I’d imagine any deep carpets would require a boost to really catch everything.
The whole machine is fairly bulky/heavy to carry upstairs but the body being detachable along with the wand keeping the rest in place makes it easy to use for hard to reach places. The wheels at the bottom of the machine make it really use and light to use when it’s on the floor flat.
This vacuum cleaner is part of the increasing trend towards using power from lithium batteries. Battery power for convenience is grand, no leads to be too short or a “trip” hazard, the performance needs and demands are definitely met by this power source.
The cleaner has a carpet and solid floor selector and dual function option with power boost, which can make demands on battery life but I did not encounter this problem.
The power function is good, maneuverability is very satisfactory and there is a light up assistance (this, to all appearances, looks like a set of miniature headlights like the vacuum is a car racing around the floor!). The battery will run for about forty minutes between charges and the charging function is easy. It is also convenient to keep the charger in an accessory bad which holds all the tools required.
The cleaner runs smoothly over various surfaces and its important to ensure the hose and connecting areas are kept free of any blockage which will stop the machine from operating.
On the downside – be alert to 3 hours plus for battery recharging but the battery has three stage power indicators and the light indicating remaining power supply can be useful.
The cleaner can be used as handheld and has several parts – assembly and dismantle are easy but some of the tubes in the hose connections are narrow so it is necessary to be careful about blockages.
There is a five year limited guarantee and there are benefits in the surface selection and boost option. The power remaining indicator is good and handheld facility is convenient, assembly and dismantling are quite simple and all seems to be reliable. Recommended.
This is a really well built and sturdy vacuum cleaner which is also compact and lightweight.
Everything clicks into place with a real quality feel to it. In upright mode it’s nimble and easy to get round corners. The attachments give you everything you need in handheld mode to get around various harder to reach places and the fact that it’s rechargeable rather than with a power cable makes it super easy to get round the house.
The battery lasts for ages, easily long enough to do a full long clean of the whole house. The docking charger for the battery makes it so simple to keep it charged up and ready to go.
Suction is great and it’s very easy to empty and clean.

Cordless uprights like this are very convenient. You can quickly take it from the cupboard and sweep up mess as it happens. This particular model is good quality. It is perhaps not as light as you might like, but it is sturdy.
Assembly is very simple, as is the battery recharging procedure. Just follow the instructions.
The suction is not as powerful as I had hoped. It does not compare to my cylinder cleaner. I don’t recommend having this is your sole vacuum cleaner, but as a convenient alternative for quick, light cleaning lobs, it’s fine.
We have had a Henry for years and got sick of cleaning pet hair from the brushes… debated getting this for some time, glad we finally did. It’s lightweight, very compact and easy to use, the anti hair wrap is ingenious. Only issue we have is it’s a little too powerful and pulls up mats and dog beds as you hoove
It can be quite amazing when you get two devices that meet the same design brief but achieve it in different ways. We got two Shark vacuums, this ICZ160UK cordless upright, and a IZ201UKT cordless stick. The big difference is that the motor and dust collector on this ICZ160UK is quite low down the unit – not at the bottom, but lower than half way down. By contrast the dust collector and motor on the IZ201UKT is right at the top along with the battery and the handle forms part of the top unit. The problem I have with the main unit being right at the top is that a 40 minute hoovering session is just more than my right arm can take because you’re basically carrying the main weight of the machine all the time. I’ve found this ICZ160UK much less tiring on my arm and much prefer this design.
Of course, what I’ve described is the main mode of operation with the unit clicked together along with the roller unit at the bottom, but it has other modes, that involve unclicking the vacuum tube which allows you to do spot cleaning with or without the main roller unit. When you hoover in these other modes you are sharing the weight of the Shark between your two arms which makes life even easier.
I’ve had a lot of cordless vacuums and often thought that the designers build in these rotating roller units to make up for inadequate suction – but that’s not the case with this Shark, it’s a really good sucker! The main roller head on this Shark really is a beauty – the roller feels lovely in your hand when you unclip it – the quality is unlike any other unit I’ve used.
40 minutes on normal mode is more than enough to do every room in our house. I never once felt the urge to go into turbo mode – we don’t have any pets but do have long-haired women around the house and our kitchen can get quite grimy. I don’t know if I absolutely have to but I tend to empty the dust collector several times in one session in order to keep the suction up.
The headlamps on the cleaning head mean that we’re getting to see under furniture in a way that I’ve never seen before – areas that for the first time in our family’s history are now actually clean. If you want to avoid stooping to hoover under armchairs and difficult to access places you can unclip the main tube but I don’t bother to do this, I’m happy with the access I can gain when the whole unit remains assembled.
Plugging together this vacuum, emptying the dust collector, charging the battery, and swapping out the various supplied head attachments is entirely intuitive – it’s very cleverly designed.
This vacuum doesn’t come supplied a wall-mounted docking station for charging, you have a little dock for the battery to charge in. We keep our hoover in one place in the house so a permanent charging dock would be a helpful addition, but I guess this arrangement has a kind of flexibility to it. You need to figure out somewhere to store the vacuum and the bag of goodies it comes supplied with.
While this battery lasts a good long time at 40 minutes – which as I say is easily enough for one house clean – it also takes several hours to fully recharge from flat (it has a three LED display to tell you the batter status). Practically speaking this means you need to recharge it at the end of every main cleaning session because you definitely want to avoid running out of charge mid clean.
In summary, this is a great cleaner that manages carpets and hard floors equally well, it especially makes a good job of cleaning the carpets. The design and quality of manufacture are really good, and I like the way that I can do a good long session cleaning the house without tiring my arms too much because the main unit is positioned low down near to the floor so I’m not carrying it everywhere.
These days we want the convenience of a hand held vacuum cleaner with the power of one you plug in. and I think we have found that in this cleaner.
Once out of the box you have a bit of putting together. At first I was a little clueless about this but in the end managed to slot everything together fine.
It comes with a number of different heads for the different tasks. The main one which connects up to the power source is used for carpets and hard floors. It includes rollers that pull in the dirt. These are very powerful. When you turn it on it starts pulling itself forward itself so you need a good grip. It has a button on it which switches between carpet and hard floor which is useful and it also has lights on the front corners so you can see the dirt more easily especially under things like chairs and chest of drawers.
It also comes with various other heads. These are not powered like the main one so this is where this feels more like a portable vacuum cleaner than a main one. The various heads come in different shapes and sizes and are used for getting in all sorts of nooks and crannies as well as for cleaning the stairs.
The powerpack slides out easily and is charged in a nice cradle for it and it seems to charge up pretty fast. The charge also seems to last a fair while which is good.
It is also easy to open the dust container and empty it.
Though easy to carry around for most. I would say more elderly might struggle with it or tire easily. I had offered this to my Mother to use but she thought it might be a bit heavy.
Overall I am very happy with this. It is a good powerful cleaner with the convenience of a portable.
Ok so I’ve Been using g tech for a few years now both upright and handheld I was happy with both but with the upright going over some bits on my tiled floors just wouldn’t pick up especially little leaves that have blown in or even the odd fly I’d find on the floor it just wouldn’t do it even cleaning the filters on a regular basis the power just wasn’t good enough. So after seeing shark advertised on tv quite a lot I thought the times right to have a change and after doing my research on which one would be best for my needs I opted for this one. I am forever cutting hair off the bottom of my g tech and the long threads off my shaggy rugs so this one impressed me with the anti hair wrap.i hoovered all through the house with the g tech flat weave rugs also the night before so I could see if the shark would pick up anymore and I was amazed. First of all it’s more heavy than the gtech not by much but seems a lot more robust and sturdy.you have to charge it for about 3 and half hours before use so I waited with excitement. It’s a great hoover to use not as noisy as the gtech either which was another bonus so after use I checked the bin to see if had done its job and wow I was amazed the stuff that had come off my rug and floors considering I’d done it the night before was shocking the stairs was easy -peasywith the shark press the button lift off and your away and even the suction on this way is very powerful. So i am sooo happy with this hoover I wish I’d got one sooner. I’ve used it for a few days now and I’ve checked the bottom to see if any hairs are wrapped on the brush and while il admit there’s a couple of strands nothing that concerns me. So if you need a decent hoover then don’t hesitate get this one.
This vacuum cleaner comes as a kit of parts that click together to form a combined upright and handheld cordless cleaner. The parts are intuitively joined but just in case you forget which bit does what they are all labelled clearly so you don’t need to keep referring to the very clear and instructive manual. This makes it all very easy to use on a daily basis even for a complete novice. The vacuum is very sturdily made with strong materials so should last a long time, it’s bagless obviously and comes with extra tools in a neat tote bag so there’s no need to spend more after purchase. This vacuum takes care of the pet hair that our long haired cat sheds so is a plus from this household.
I was really excited to try this anti hair wrap vacuum cleaner from shark. I was really impressed with the overall look. It’s well made and unlike my cheaper cordless of a different brand it’s not top heavy and has solved the problems of tiered arms. It was easy to set up, simply clip the pod onto the pole, attach the hose, clip on the handle and pop in the battery and your off. I love the lights on the handle, there are 4 buttons, power, boost, carpet and floor making it a dream to glide across different floor types. In upright mode it’s set to standard suction, if you want a boost in upright mode you keep your finger on the boost button, I was worried that in vaccum mode it wasn’t possible to keep boost on all the time as I needed it with my cheap one but this honestly doesn’t need it. I chucked everything at this from dog hair, human hair, dust, oats and random sized crumbs and it picked everything up without a problem. It also has lights built in so you can see what your doing. The anti hair wrap really does work for 95% of hair, instead of been on the brush it’s broken down in the waste bin. It came with 3 attachments, a crevice tool, wide upholstery tool and dusting brush. It very simply lifts away from the pole to do stairs, cobwebs, curtains etc. You can connect them to the main pole by removing the floor brush if you want to reach high up. Off the pole it automatically goes into boost mode and gets everything you point it at. It’s very easy to empty over the bin and has cleanable filters. The battery itself has 3 different ways of charging it, directly in the vacuum, directly in the battery or in the battery dock included. It has a semi circle light in 3 sections, 1 being low battery and 3 being fully charged. It also lights up when using so you can see how much charge you have left. In carpet mode you get roughly 25 minutes – 16 if using boost in floor mode you get 30 minutes – 16 if using boost in lift away upto 50 minutes. All in all I’m absolutely chuffed with this cordless, it’s built to last. The only thing it couldn’t handle was a very thick shaggy rug in upright mode so I just whipped round that with the attachment for furniture.
I have been through quite a few Vacs in the past few years because my beloved wife sheds a lot of hair. Hair that tends to wrap around the barrel of the vac and eventually the destroys the inner workings of the vac, forcing the wheels off and buckling the brush barrel.
This vac might be quite pricey, but it will be the last vac you will ever need, the anti-hair feature sucks up hair without issue.
The shark vac has a lot of parts to put together, but I was surprised at just how easy it was to put together as each part interlocks and snaps into place intuitively. Most cordless vacs do suffer from battery fade, and whilst it is early days for this vac, the sheer composite makeup of the battery suggests to me that it will give this vac a punch for some time to come.
I also really like the fact the battery is easily removeable, and is charged using its own power pack, rather than sitting the vac and a charging station. This means that the vac is not limited to where you can store the vac.
The power of the vac is impressive, and when using the vac in stand-up mode the vac has a set of headlamps that lights up the carpet so you can easily see dust and other such microbes.
After all the carpets are done its time for the stairs, and this vac simply detaches from the stand up vac with just 2 clicks, you can then decide on the length of the tube and hose you want to use as the long tube and the short tube both does an excellent job on the stairs. There are 3 different heads to use, the brush, the flat wide nozzle and then a standard small nozzle ideal for skirting boards.
Then it’s time to empty which again is easy as all the waste can be dropped into the bin using the empty flap. All filters are also easy to find and easily removeable for cleaning.
I really could go and on about this product, the double-barrelled stand-up part of the vac separates the hairs and ensures that the vac doesn’t lose any suction integrity.
The Shark has been carefully and thoughtfully designed in every aspect and it makes the user experience wonderful, so much so I actually enjoy cleaning the carpets. I have never had a vac this efficient as I can seamlessly switch between vac settings and types of vac to use. There is a setting for just about every cleaning project and is without doubt the best vac to clean the car with as you don’t have to get the extension cable out. Just clip off the standing mode, carry to the car and switch the heads between the upholstery and floors, my car has never been so clean.
This product firmly puts Shark as the new daddy of vacuum cleaners. The bar is now raised, and a new standard of vacuum cleaner excellence has been set.
This cordless vac will easily compete with corded vacs and have an improved efficiency to boot.
For starters this hoover works really well as a hoover, we have two dogs, one of whom attracts mud wherever he goes and tracks it back into the house, and another, who sheds copious amounts of white hair (usually most of what gets swept or hoovered up is her hair), and this copes quickly and efficiently with both, even when being used on rugs (although I turn on boost for rugs).
I find it intuitive to use and the ability to use it in different configurations, and that it can be ready to go quickly saves a lot of time doing quick clean-ups as well as deeper cleans. I haven’t had it long enough to judge its longevity, but so far, the suction is powerful. The waste container is small, but it is simple to empty, so I don’t find it much of an issue. The main head gets pretty close to walls and corners, but the smaller head is still needed to get right into corners and awkward spots. It’s lighter than my corded hoover, but I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as lightweight, although I don’t think most people would struggle with it.
The couple of things I’m not so keen on are that the battery does last 50 minutes, but that is a maximum and it takes (by picky modern standards) a fair while to charge at 3.5 hours from empty, and realistically you’re going to be using it on boost at least some of the time, so it probably won’t last a full 50 minutes. The other thing is that once when I was carrying it up some stairs by its handle, the handle came off of the shaft without me touching the release button, so the interlocking mechanism might not be quite strong enough to take the weight reliably, I’ve carried it by the shaft since then, and haven’t had any problems.
I’ve never had a cordless vacuum before, so I was sceptical – but wowser, this is brilliant. Takes just over 3 hours to fully charge, but hey, that’s no problem as you just bung in on charge each time after you’ve used it, then you know it’s always ready to go. Once you start cleaning, I reckon you get about 45 – 50 minutes depending on how much engrained dirt you’re dealing with or how much pet hair you’re tackling….as this has two whirly brush things, it makes short work of anything in its way though. There’s a big fat roller thing which basically bullies any dirt out of the carpet, grinding mud into dust, and dust into looser dust, then the usual bristly thing which scoops it all up, and whizzes it into the bagless holder. Apologies for the total lack of jargon, but I thought just calling it Duo-Clean as they do doesn’t help much….
We did the whole house, top to bottom, including stairs, in one charge – and ours is quite open plan with 3 bedrooms, a conservatory and a study as well as the usual rooms. This copes well going from hard floor to carpet, but the best thing for me was the stairs (I’m easily pleased). I’ve never been able to lug our old vacuum up and get into all the nooks and crannies but of course with ol’ marvel monkey here you just detach the hand held thingy (sorry, the “powered lift away”!!) and off you go. It means you can actually get to the corners, and whisk away any debris there that’s probably been stuck for months because your old vacuum couldn’t be easily manoeuvred to get to it.
My mother has the lightweight Gtech vacuum (the green and grey one advertised everywhere) and I’d say, rather smugly, this easily tops that. It’s more powerful for a start (although it is a bit heavier), holds the charge longer and I think is way more versatile with all the tools.
Let’s be honest, the cordless ones are never going to have the same oomph as the corded ones, which all have much bigger motors, but I’d rather have this lighter, easier, nippier, deep-cleaner any day. And I like saying “I’ll just get the Shark out”.
This is an amazing bit of kit and I say that as someone who has never once become excited about a hoover or the prospect of doing any hoovering before. It’s easy to put together, lightweight, flexible, portable and actually hoovers really well. I love the fact that it does hard floors and carpet and you can genuinely tell the difference between the two modes. Boost mode is also great. My cat eviscerated a blue tit all over the carpet and the boost mode got the small, pin feathers out of the carpet pile brilliantly. The light at the front so you can see what you’re hoovering up is excellent. It’s genuinely a pleasure to use.
Review for Shark Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner [ICZ160UK] Anti Hair Wrap, Single Battery, Blue.
I have seen many adverts regarding Shark vacuum cleaners and have been considering if Shark is indeed a worthy contender to Dyson. Having now used this for a few days it’s time to review my experiences. First thing is the weight, coming in around 5.5kg it’s not the heaviest vacuum you will ever use, and coupled with the fact that its modular design means you can clip off the main motor in conjunction with the tools for separate use on stairs. Suitable for carpets, hard floors, stairs and upholstery for a versatile all in one vacuum. Twin sets of headlights (similar to cars) help illuminate dust and dirt well so you can see exactly where needs cleaning even in poorly lit areas. I am really impressed with the anti hair wrap feature, every vacuum I have owned at some point had a tangle of hair which needs to removed by cutting. This has a guard and comb which prevent hairs wrapping around the bristles. The good 0.6 litre dust bucket allows for a good amount of cleaning before empty, and can be conveniently emptied with the click of a button.
An excellent 50 minutes run time from a single charge gives plenty of cleaning capacity. charging can be done either on or off the vacuum for convenience. A clever modular design really does make vacuuming different areas a breeze rather than a chore with effortless lift off design allows you to transition between areas easily. Includes mattress nozzle, crevice nozzle, upholstery nozzle, dusting brush, combination floor nozzle for all the kinds of cleaning you might want to do, all are quickly and easily clipped on and off when needed.
Overall powerful cordless modular vacuum cleaner, with excellent 50 minute run time, good 0.6 litre dust bucket, headlights and anti hair wrap prevention. Really makes vacuuming a breeze less of a chore. Backed by a 5 year warranty for extra peace of mind. Is it better than a dyson, based upon current offerings I would say yes.

+ Anti hair wrap
+ Front twin sets headlights
+ Clever modular lift off design

Oh wait, that was the last cordless I remember using – a carpet sweeper!
To be honest vacuuming is a chore in our house as we have always had corded vacuums. So find an outlet that doesn’t have something that’s being used plugged in to it – harder and harder to do in this connected world – and then do the dance with the cord getting wrapped round you or your furniture, then have the ignominy of the cord not being quite long enough because you went the wrong way round the room. Frustrating and annoying and did mean that once a week was probably your lot (unless guests were expected).
So we were interested to try a cordless vacuum just to see how it stacked up. A big plus point for this unit was it’s anti hair wrap boast. My husband, adult son and I all have long hair and we also have a cat; perfect conditions for lots of hair getting embedded into the rugs and carpets. Now, whether the old vacuum just simply pushed the hair in to the carpet fibres or whether we should all be bald as coots I’m not sure but this pulled a LOT of hair up. The problem is there was so much it failed the anti hair wrap test and got wrapped around the roller. However, it was super easy to remove, a few snips with the scissors to break the wrap and then just tug at it and it all came away cleanly ready for disposal. No need to get tools out to remove the roller then you could pick it laboriously free so it was a half win for me.
I did expect it to pull far more dirt than it did out of the carpet. The last time we replaced the vacuum cleaner it was amazing how much it pulled up but with this one not so much. It did leave everything looking clean so maybe my old vacuum hasn’t got a suction problem just refuses to collect hair. At one point it developed a strange rattle so I turned it off and when I pulled it towards me to take a look a 20p fell out, no idea where that came from as I genuinely didn’t see it on the floor but at least it proves it will pick up larger and heavier items. It also manages to collect cat litter but you have to use a long, slow pull and push to pick it up and if you turn it off straight after the litter will simply fall back out as it takes a bit of run time to suck it into the dust chamber.
Operation is incredibly simple. Press with your foot to tilt the wand back and then press the IO button and off you go. It has two different settings one for carpets and one for hard floors and it is as simple as clicking on a picture to choose. Then we come to the Boost function, it amps the suction up which is useful for the aforementioned cat litter. However, you have to press and hold to get the boost and that can be fiddly to do when in operation; a tap on/off function would have been better as that wouldn’t require two hands. Emptying the dust chamber is really easy, press the two release clips and it slides out of the pod, hold it over the bin and press the black release and it all just falls out; it clicks back into place easily as well.
Battery life is actually pretty good. Takes around 3 Hours for a full charge and it comes with a charging dock so you don’t have to find somewhere to charge the whole unit, just a small round unit that the battery slots in to (about the circumference of a baby bottle warmer). I managed to do the living room, hallway, stairs, two bedrooms and a bathroom and still have a little bit of charge left. That said I rarely used the Boost and apparently that eats battery life (this is according to the manual). The battery itself has a moulded handle in the top that you just lift and then gently tug to release and out it pops. To reinsert it just simply pushes in to place. It also has a light display on the top that shows how much charge you have left and flashes if there is a blockage in the pipes and when charging (if it goes out when charging it is fully charged as after 5 minutes it will turn off to prevent the charge/discharge cycle which can damage batteries).
Other than the charging unit you get 3 attachments – a crevice tool (great for on the stairs; I know they show it for using on soft furnishings in all the ads for all manufacturers and have done since the darn thing was invented but I have never used it on those items), a flat wide head that is great for curtains and an upholstery brush (not tried). You also get a dinky little Shark tote to store everything in – being a picky sort I would have preferred it if the bag had a closure rather than just being open but it is a nice little addition and makes storage easy.
It is easy to use and light to push, which surprised me. Surprisingly nimble and flexible so it was easy to navigate round furniture. I loved the two headlights on the front with their bright white LEDs, made under table cleaning so easy because you could see where you needed to clean rather than doing one bit twice and missing the other half. Also surprisingly quiet, obviously it isn’t silent operation but this is a vacuum cleaner and usually we can’t hold a conversation when vacuuming without shouting but we didn’t even need to raise our voices. The cat still didn’t like the noise and fled from the room though.
You have three options for Lift Away cleaning:
Release the wand from the base unit (simple press down button) and leave the pod attached to the base; great for reaching high areas and all the tools fit on to the wand end.
Leave the wand attached and just pull the handle out of the top of it, unclip the hose and you can do the stairs really easily without wielding an unwieldy, too long, rigid piece of plastic. All the tools fit on the end of the handle too.
Finally you can also remove the pod from the base unit completely, to be honest it is a comparatively light unit so I’m not sure that I would bother – even though it is just one button push to release the whole unit and then it slides back in to place when finished. The best thing about using it in this mode is this – You can re-enact the proton pack scenes from Ghostbusters, leave the wand and handle attached and catch your own Slimer (just a pity it doesn’t come with a strap arrangements to put it on your back then you could really Venkman, Stantz and Spengler it up!) – sad to admit the husband and I both did this because we may be middle-aged but mentally we are still 9 it seems!
Overall I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this unit was to use and the cleaning it provided did exceed what I expected from a cordless. For me, the freedom of not having the cord is it’s biggest selling point although I do feel the price point is a little steep, especially as the anti hair wrap sort of didn’t work (admittedly I do suspect that it had a couple of years of embedded hair to deal with). I am definitely converted to cordless technology and whilst I’ll never be a vacuum every day kind of girl I am pretty sure I could get the house done twice a week on one battery charge which is pretty great.
Respected Brand that has delivered an almost spot on product, just lost half a star for the price point as it feels just slightly too much and half a star because of the hair issues (would have been way more but it was so easy to fix the problem – snip, snip, tug and bin).
This vacuum cleaner is a pleasure to use as it is so well balanced. It has a low centre of gravity as the heaviest components, the battery and motor, are located on either side of the “vacuum pod”. When used in conventional upright mode, this is close to the floor and is easy to steer around our thick new carpets when vacuuming. The suction is good and very easily controlled at the press of a switch on the top of the handle when moving from carpets to hard floor. The LED headlights make it easier to see dirt, especially when vacuuming with the lights off! The motor noise is well controlled and not unduly disturbing.
This cleaner has a Duoclean floor nozzle with two rollers to help lift dust and hair up from carpets and floors. However, the bane of using every upright vacuum cleaner that I have owned is the need to tackle the hair that inevitably wraps itself around the roller brush and needs to be surgically extracted at regular intervals. This vacuum cleaner incorporates an Anti-Hair Wrap design to the roller brush that prevents hair build up. We have used this vacuum cleaner extensively to clean our house and car for the past few days. I am pleased to say that this feature works well and that the roller brush remains totally bald, as you can see from the photograph!
When using the vacuum cleaner for challenging situations that are more difficult for an upright, it transforms into a compact cleaner with just a few clicks to remove the floor nozzle and wand. It is a little tricky releasing the wand as you have to press down on the wand release button whilst pulling upwards! I found that the best way to do this was to put one foot down onto the foot rest of the floor nozzle to keep this steady. It is so much easier vacuuming the stairs once this is done as you can hold the pod in one hand and the handle with the other hand. The cleaner can also be reassembled into other combinations, so that the wand is then used as an extension to reach hard to reach areas such as the top of curtains. I noticed that the cleaner automatically goes into Boost mode when it senses that is not connected to the floor nozzle, which makes it really easy to use.
It also works really well when vacuuming the interior of cars, doing a great job of removing dirt, grass and even small stones from our vehicle’s footwell.
I was impressed by the smart design and build quality. Everything slotted into place neatly, with the accessories easily stored in the supplied bag, whilst the vacuum cleaner is really easy to store as it takes up hardly any space in our under-the-stair cupboard. The battery needs to be charged after a full use, by clicking it into the supplied charging cradle. It does take 3.5 hours to charge the battery from empty: it is easy to see charging progress by looking at the illuminated LEDs on the battery. It is also possible to use the vacuum cleaner in corded mode by plugging the power adapter directly into the rear of the vacuum cleaner. This has a fairly short charging cord so you would need to connect this to an extension cable but at least it does provide a solution if you have forgotten to charge the battery! The pre-motor filter needs to be rinsed every month with lukewarm water for optimal performance so I have put an alert in my Google Calendar but this will only take a few minutes so it will not be too onerous a task. There is a wide range of spares available for this vacuum cleaner together with other additional items such as an anti-allergy dusting brush that looks very interesting.
Overall, this is a top-quality vacuum cleaner that is designed to make vacuuming as easy as possible and to last a long time.
