How long should I leave my rolled mattress before sleeping on it?
You should unroll your rolled mattress on a bed in a warm room 24 hours before use. By placing it in a warm room, the mattress recovery time will be faster. You should not remove the cover until it has been left 24 hours.
Will my mattress smell?
It’s quite normal for new mattresses to have a slight odour when it is unpackaged, however it is nothing to worry about and by airing the mattress, you will find that any odours will pass.
How do I clean my mattress?
We always recommend using a mattress protector. You should not use detergents or chemical cleaners on your mattress as this may damage the fabric and stitching. Please do not remove the cover to clean the mattress, the cover is not removable.
Can I roll up the mattress for storage?
We use specialist equipment to roll a mattress in our factory. Please do not attempt to bend or re-roll your mattress yourself.

The only negative comment I would make is that it is not suitable for beds that don’t have solid bases and I can find no mention of this in the information provided on Amazon. It wasn’t until we had unwrapped it and read the instructions inside the wrapping that we realised. As my son has a bed frame rather than a divan we had to cover the slats with a sheet of mdf to prevent the mattress sinking through the gaps.

Very comfortable mattress, the smell was very off putting for the first few weeks but now that’s gone I’m very impressed. It’s very comfortable and was a good price.
says to leave for 1-2 days to settle but as it was to replace my own mattress I didn’t have that option so was only left for a few hours, this did result in me being dissatisfied with the thickness of the mattress to begin with but by the morning (after me sleeping on it all night) it was a lot thicker and now normal mattress thickness

Excellant quality mattresses ( I bought 2 ) and I would definately have given it a 5+ but the chemicals they use to preserve the mattress lets off fumes, this is usual for a few days but this has been since December and its now February! There are still fumes albeit a lot less acrid. Great mattresses and amazing support, you cannot buy a single with the comfort of these but the smell!
I bought this mattress 2nd time not because this is very high quality mattress but just because of its price and reasonable life based on the price. My weight is 75Kg and previous “same mattress” lasted for 12-16 months after which I felt like changing it. In the past, I have bought very pricey mattress but they start losing shape and giving painful nights after only 2 years so I dont see the point of buying expensive mattresses only for two years when I can buy the new mattress after 1 year and have painfree sleep on new mattress in the same price. It is hygienic, economical and easy on budget.
To be honest, was a little skeptical on how good this would be, when I see the online sellers with their products for 4 or 5 times the price.

Bought this almost as a temporary measure so we had something to sleep on during the period between getting a house, when the furniture arrived and we could buy a new mattress (wasn’t going to pay to keep the old mattress in storage).
Bough this particular one because it was well reviewed and it was on Amazon deal of the day. The thinking was that worse case, it was a temporary measure, and with the combination of the price, delivery and the fact it came rolled up and squashed… a no brainer..
Being packed and rolled made it easy to get it upstairs and into the bedroom. Once unpacked out of the plastic, it started to expand to the proper shape, after a few hours, it was pretty well there, just one corner which took longer.
There was no smell (I’ve read reviews of these mattresses having some chemical like smell that lingers for a few days, didn’t experience this at all).
We slept on this for about 2 months in total, and it was really comfortable. Its firm, which is what we both prefer.
This was September/October, so not the summer. Typically I get hot in bed, I’m one to throw the bedclothes off, but I did not feel this mattress was any hotter or uncomfortable than a regular type (something I’ve read as typical problem of memory foam mattresses).
First it was simply on the floor, then it was on ‘our bed’ which has a flat hard surface, so no real difference than the floor. It was always really comfy, I was really pleasantly surprised.
Once a new (and correct sized) mattress arrived (John Lewis home brand, simply amazing), this Silentnight one was put into the spare room. It now on an Ikea bed (a double which is why we bought this size), which has the slats which are ‘rolled down’ the bed. We have had a few guests stay, nobody has complained about it, and we have had one complement.

My son’s single bed broke so we decided to get him a double bed as he would probably need/want one as he gets bigger. So we needed a new mattress for his double frame.
If he has a nightmare etc we often snuggle with him in his bed so we wanted something nice and comfy for us all! . This mattress seemed to be the best memory foam one you could get for a smaller budget. We have an Emma mattress which is thicker and feels more substantial than this Silent Night one but Is a lot more expensive. This mattress is very comfortable sometimes I even prefer it to my Emma. The only one downside (for me) is that if you’ve slept in it all night the warmth of your body moulds the mattress and you do ‘sink in’. some people might like this, but I prefer it to stay more firm and bounce back quicker.
I read a lot of comments to be sure whether to get this…and i don’t regret getting it! BAD POINTS- The corners did have a crease in them when unwrapped but did go away after 72hrs and it did settle down,so be patient like i did.But it ONLY measures 18cms not 20cms as described so i gave it 4 stars.GOOD POINTS- It’s a lovely bed indeed and a delight to sleep on,although strange at first to sleep it wasn’t uncomfy at all.After 5 days sleeping on it,it’s amazing and i do recommend the comfort of it but the 2 cms thinner than described….? Up to you.It’s quality and a great comfy mattress thou folks.
My 5 year old loves his new mattress and it’s quite light for me to fit the sheets on. The only issue I’ve noticed is there is a sort of hole at one side on the edge like some of the foam is missing. Not sure if it’s something to do with being folded up?
He’s slept well on it and says it’s very comfy. If you where a larger build I’m not sure it would be suitable due to the edge compressing when you sit up to get out of bed. Over time it would damage I’m sure.
All in all it’s great for my son who’s 5

I don’t normally write reviews as I can’t be bothered but I had to write this one. I have just come back from holiday and our apartment had one of these mattresses, now I have a bone condition that causes me awful joint problems and back pain and most days I take time to get walking properly and I’m only 44. We have a fairly hard spring mattress at home and when I slept on the apartment one OMG I went the whole week with no pain at all and was walking normally when I got up! First time in years! NO JOKE one night back on my home one and I’m climbling out of bed like a geriatric! No joke I bought this mattress and put it on my credit card such is the need! Don’t think, buy it!
It is not a memory foam mattress that you sink into but firm to the extreme & comfortable with it.
Would recommend it.
Finally got round to putting it on my bed this weekend, once unpacked it began to take shape and I was surprised how thick it is. It’s so comfortable it seems to mould to your body shape, I can’t believe it’s only topped with memory foam.
Some reviews have mentioned the smell, I must agree it was quite strong, smells like paint! I could smell it in my room when I went to bed but once in bed I didn’t notice it again.
I can’t praise this mattress enough, I’m so pleased with it.
Having read lots of reviews I took the plunge and purchased this mattress last October as it was reduced in the black Friday sale. Mainly I needed something that would be easy to transport 70 miles from home to our static caravan the following March. The fact that it came rolled up was an important feature.
We unrolled it on the living room floor of the caravan at night when we went to bed and by morning it was nice and fluffed up. Transferred it to the bed and left it for the rest of the day to give it the full 24 hours. There was a bit of smell.but not strong and not unpleasant and it soon went. We had a good night’s sleep. I didn’t feel I sank into it too much and we didn’t suffer any roll together. I think it got a bit softer over the course off the week.
As it is only for occasional use I feel it will last well.
If I had to find one downside I would say that the lack of springs make it less easy to stand out of bed but it wasn’t a problem but I could see it might be for someone with limited mobility ( that’s just my rehab nurse side coming out!)
All in all I am very pleased and as the old nayyress was causing back pain and this one dosen’t I am happy especially at the price I paid – about 130 in the sale

Simply amazing. it is a very nice mattress and very comfortable. It does make me get a little too warm for my liking but i can solve that with a topper! It is a bit on the firm side and i would prefer to “Sink” into my mattress but i cant complain as its still very comfortable.
So i will say do not buy this if you have a bed with rods to support the mattress rather than wood slats. It does sink into them. I have had to buy some MDF and cut it into some sections to support the mattress. It is also quite the heavy mattress. The general quality is good, there is obviously room for improvement, but for the 169 that i paid it is very good. If it was full price i dont think i would say this was good value for money.
Really good mattress, not too soft and not too hard although I ‘ weight much so for me it was hard but comfortable because it was still soft. PS. my roommate she had a proper memory foam mattress so her mattress was super soft like you just drop in sort of thing so I guess I am comaring to that one it was much harder but I would say its a balanced mattress. Good quality foam although the protector cover can get very dirty as all the dusts and stuff stick on it (bare in mind I did have my mattress on the floor carpet, student life) All in all its very affordable good size looks good and very comfortable to sleep in! definitely recommend! also does not weight a lot and you can proper wrap it up so great for moving around (again student life)
Over the next few days the mattress seemed to soften and I am glad to say that it’s now one of the most comfortable mattress’s we’ve slept on. There have been a few reviews on here where people have found it uncomfortable. I think that maybe the mattress just takes longer to expand properly for different people. I did read the side of the pack and the ambient temperature can effect it.
A very good mattress that we would buy again.
-It is pretty much 20cm thick as the attached photo shows. 19.8cm after leaving to ‘rise’ for 48 hours in a warm room. Other photos perhaps are only an hour after opening when it is indeed still about 16cm.
-It is not convenient however, to have it rise for so long as obviously it takes a lot of space. I guess this should be balanced against how easy it is to transport / deliver / take upstairs in its rolled up state.
-It does smell quite strongly, like marker pens, for quite a long time after opening.
-Comfort wise, it is a medium firmness and nice and supportive for the larger framed individual. Nice and consistent across the mattress, no springs or metal frames or deviations.
Overall, for the price, I think it is decent value. Compared to a sprung mattress of the same price, I think the foam is a better option – just plan ahead for keeping it open to rise+smell for AT LEAST 24 hours, probably more.

Ikea was a pain to get to, so I looked online for alternatives – size was important as our bed has the euro measurements, so bigger than a double but smaller than a king, which meant it was a difficult size to source. Up popped this silent night mattress for a decent price and a fiar number of good reviews, next day it was delieverd all shrink wrapped in a small sausage shape, surely this isn’t going to fit?
Unwrapped first thing in the morning and lay it on top of the bed, through the course of the day the mattress sorted itself out and grew to its full size, yes initially there was a strong chemical smell (not nasty, but noticeable) but this disappeared very quickly and a couple of days you’d never know.
First nights sleep was great, you could feel it was new and very supportive, no roll together, no picking up on my other half moving (or me for her) and all in all a decent buy.
Several months later we are still enjoying decent quality sleep on this mattress, its on a different bed frame now (ironically a kingsize) but its still worth the money I paid and hopefully will keep use restful for the foreseeable future.
I had been watching this item for a while and ordered it just before Christmas when the price dropped to 135. I left it on the bed in the spare room for 4 or 5 days to settle before using it. The chemical smell was very strong and there was still some smell after 10 days if the bedroom door was shut, but there is no smell now. I initially found it very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on which is surprising as I prefer a firm mattress. However, it is now OK after using it for over a month. I have noticed it can get very warm as others have mentioned. The mattress has been turned every week and so far no no issues about grooves or lumpiness to report. On the whole, I am pleased with the purchase, especially in view of the price paid. 4 stars given because of the intial uncomfortable and hardness issues.
Memory foam in general is absolutely brilliant and you wont regret getting memory foam, when it is new I believe you will not find anything more comfortable and better supporting. My wife has some artificial hip joints etc… and she is well pleased with the memory foam mattress. We will be getting her another one when she is done with the current one. It has lasted her longer though since she is lighter, about 3 years.
But if you are anything but a relatively light weight man or woman, you’re going to need a new one of these within 2 years or less. I am a 90kg guy and this mattress didn’t last me as long as it has for my wife, which is to be expected, though 90kg someone of my height etc… my BMI is actually not fat or obese or anything. Wish it lasted longer.
In fairness, due to the price compared to other mattress, replacing this one every 2 years is actually not unreasonable.
You have to be VERY careful not to damage the mattress when you remove the very thick plastic packaging. Then when you unroll it you must leave it for 24 hours and use it. It needs turning and I would suggest a protector too.
For us this is for our spare bed and it’s perfect. It is quite thin at 14cm but seems very comfortable.
It’s great value at the discounted price. We will test it this evening and I’ll update but it seems a great option.
My only gripe is that its a little warmer but I think that combined with the 12.5 tog feather duvet may play some part. Highly recommend.
I ordered the Silentnight 7-Zone Memory Foam mattress after reading many positive reviews about it. The wife and I were in need of a new superking mattress, and had become fans of memory foam mattresses over the years. I thought it a bit strange that I couldn’t find this exact mattress on the silentnight website, but decided to order from amazon anyway. Delivery was extremely prompt, 3 days, and the vacuum sealed package wasn’t too hard too get up our narrow staircase to the bedroom. The packaging was in good order, and was a bit of a bear to remove, but I’d prefer that to thin shoddy packaging. We let the mattress expand over 24 hours to reach full size and to “off-gas” the mattress itself. The mattress turned out to be firmer than we are accustomed to, even though we thought we were used to firm mattresses. This one is “orthopedic” firmness so quite hard. After adding the 3″ Super King Size Memory Foam Mattress Topper we were thoroughly pleased. So I won’t give this one 5 stars due to it being extremely firm without noting said in the description, but definitely worth 4 stars and buying, particularly if you add a nice topper.
Yes it smells awful, terrible, dreadful, dead cat in a carrier bag in hot weather (please note I am just guessing that bit before I get hate mail) BUT that does not last – thank God! I am very happily married to an insomniac – love him – hate his sleeping patterns. In desperation after reading a gazillion reviews I bought this mattress. I HATED it. It stank, it was uncomfortable. It looked thinner than my mother in law’s welcome when I unwrapped it. It expanded. It got more comfortable but that smell…..I sprayed it daily with that stuff they advertise as killing sweaty sock odour in a gym. Didn’t help. Finally after a couple of weeks I decided I could stand it no longer. It was 3 a.m. the smell woke me up. I turned to my husband to say we have to dump this and he was asleep!!! He was still asleep hours later. I decided to try and persevere and I am so glad I did. The smell does go. We both now sleep. We sleep well. Stick with it. You will be glad you did. I am. Good luck!
Bought for our guest bed where we didn’t want to spend a fortune as it only sees occasional use.
We felt it was a bit of a gamble (having bought and later on disliked mattresses we had actually tested at the yellow and blue swedish furniture house before we bought them) but we needn’t have worried.
We had recently spent 900 on a memory foam mattress for our own (super king) bed and this is just as comfortable if not better.
The quality seems very good, not quite as good as that of our own mattress (which has more “luxurious” tufting and the edges are probably less likely to sag over time as well) but it is more than decent enough.
We really like the hardness level (which I would describe as medium firm) and it gives good support whilst still contouring to your body well without feeling like it’s sagging.
I would whole heartedly recommend this, we like it so much that we have been taking turns sleeping in the guest bed
MUCH better than anything above mentioned furniture store will sell you at a much higher price tag.
UPDATE: I’ve had this mattress for approximately five years now and I’ve had no issues – it’s still as comfortable as the first time that I slept on it. To keep the mattress in good condition, don’t forget to turn the mattress around occasionally as per the manufacturer’s recommendation. Hopefully, it should last another five years, fingers crossed!

When we got our one delivered the packaging was excellent so no worries about damage or stains thank you. After we undid the packaging we laid ours flat and left it for 48 hours to make sure it went back into shape. We had read 24 or 36 hours depending on manufacture but we left it longer but it is up to you. We went to bed the first night and my wife liked it straight away but I did not and told her that I regretted buying it and she told me to give it a chance. Well I did and now have trouble getting out of bed every morning due to being so comfortable and say to all give it a chance and a little time as you wont regret it. Great price also so grab a bargain while you can as now our son wants one also and who knows how long this really cheap value for money price last for. I have suffered with back pain for years after injury and this helps and along with me being 6ft 2 and 300lbs it still is the comfortablest mattress that I have slept on to date. Now after my nightly workout I look forward to having a great nights sleep.

We were naughty and didn’t wait the full length of time before using it, so first night was not as good as it could have been. However, despite that I could tell this was a comfortable mattress.
Unfortunately, due to us both being obese, this mattress is a little too good. The previous mattress allowed us both to sink into a dip and therefore our 4’6″ bed was fine for us. I had talked about a new King size bed (Plan A), but decided that we only needed a new mattress. We’re now a little too squashed on this fabulous mattress. No dip means that we’re too wide for comfort and don’t have as much room as we would like.
So, yesterday I ordered a new King Size (to fit European King Size ) mattress and next week we head off to buy a King Size bed here in France.
I am so looking forward to having room to move AND being comfortably supported at night.

A day before it’s scheduled arrival our new King Size mattress has arrived. I took photos so you could see how it arrives, but cannot see where to add them. It comes rolled and compacted, amazed that it can be transported this way. Looking forward to some more roomy nights from now on.
When this mattress came on Amazon at what can only be described as a bargain price, my wife and I decided it was time the old one went to the tip. The result is a perfect night for my wife, who lays down to sleep. However, due to my many and varied health conditions, I find it far more comfortable to sleep sitting up. And that is where the slight problem (for me only) lies. With this being a seven-zone mattress, the zone where my derriere rests whilst sitting up must be one of the harder zones. Thus, after a comfortable four to five hours, I am awakened by a numb posterior, and find it impossible to get back to sleep immediately. Hence only four stars from me – but five stars from my wife.
Feels a bit firm to begin with, but once you’ve warmed it up a bit with your body heat it melts into a nice soft spongy and comfy platform. Its certainly cured my aching shoulders. The only minor issue with it is that on our divan it slides around a bit because its so light. Not really an issue though as you can tap it back into place. Would recommend, very pleased with this purchase.
Also for anyone wondering, no you sink into a body shaped hole from which its difficult to turn over. You can turn just as easily as a sprung mattress so no worries there. Actually thats not strictly true, if after a while you were to shift over to a cooler part of the bed you would sense a firmer mattress and would have a tendency to slide or roll into it. But you would have to physically move to feel this. Under normal conditions when you’re laying there and turning over its completely imperceptible.
There was a short delay for delivery and when it came things were simple. Open the pack, unroll it on the bed and leave it for 24 hours. Yes there was some smell and it lasted for about two weeks but leaving the bedroom windows open all day helped that dissipate.
I’m still getting used to it but my wife loves it. I had expected it to be softer but am expecting that it may soften up a little over time. I would certainly recommend this matress and it is certainly great value for all things considered.

I’ve had a memory foam topper for years, but my actual sprung mattress really needed replaced so I decided to buy this item. (I’ll be honest, it was the price that attracted me and the fact I could take delivery next day with my Prime membership).
I have had it 3 months now and I can’t remember the last time I have had such a good nights sleep.
I practically wake up in the same position as I fell asleep in. So comfortable.
I’ve never experienced getting extra hot with memory foam as other people have, so no problems there at all.
I no longer wake up with a bad back which I have been plagued with for years. I still have my topper on top of this mattress and as the instructions said this mattress wasn’t suitable for beds with metal ‘slats’ due to the fact they could eventually cut through the mattress, I also purchased a cheap fabric mattress topper to go under it.
Well worth every penny in my opinion and I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.
More expensive mattresses may have extra foam or slightly more support, I don’t know, but for the money I paid I am absolutely delighted.
I have gotten by with memory foam toppers for years but, now that prices have reduced, I have taken the plunge and am delighted with this memory foam double mattress from ‘Silentnight’, If anyone is wondering, the depth of the mattress is 180mm ( or 7.25 inches )and is deep enough to for fitted sheet to go on it snugly. I am not too far off 18 stones in weight and am 6 ft 3 ins tall, and it can handle me very comfortably. Some reviewers have whinged on about the chemical odour of a newly unpacked and unrolled mattress. Lets get things in perspective shall we. It is no more of a problem than the temporarily lingering aroma of gloss paint on a newly painted door or window.The aroma emitted from the mattress lasts as long as that of the paint too. Here’s a tip if you have a slatted bed base that you think may be a problem. Buy a full sheet of hardboard or thin plywood, cut it to fit over the slatted area ( or get it cut to size at the wood suppliers if your going to have to get it delivered anyway ) lay it on top of that slatted area ( no need for glue or screws ) and then lay the mattress over that. Problem solved.

Very concerned if this was a wise buy with some of the poor reviews on here but decided the good outweighed the bad and to give it a chance. It was purchased for our caravan where the bed is an odd shape and I could cut it to fit. Firstly the smell wasn’t that bad and disappeared after a day and the comfort excellent, there is however some roll together which I think should be expected with any foam type mattress and it is warmer to sleep on than a “normal” mattress. What was surprising was the improvement after only a few nights sleep in our general aches and pains and my wife’s arthritic knees, so much so we have now purchased a Tempur mattress for home. This also had a smell for a day or so, is warmer to sleep on than a normal mattress, but does have less roll together and more support than the Silentnight but obviously cost considerably more. Overall the Silentnight has done the job for us and done a great job for us.
This mattress has been a total godsend. For the last 2 years myself and my husband have been battling it out with our previous mattress which, despite being more expensive than this silentnight mattress, dug into our sides and caused back ache most mornings. Now that we are expecting a baby and I am getting increasingly fidgety in bed, we decided it was time to buy a new mattress. After discovering that this mattress is a Which Best Buy, I couldn’t quite believe the price. I thought something fishy was going on but after reading the hundreds of reviews on Amazon, we decided to give it a whirl. And I am SO glad we did! It is ridiculously comfortable – I could sleep for days on end, delivery was super speedy and hassle free, and it only took about 12 hours to inflate to its full size after unwrapping so we were able to sleep on it on the day it was delivered. Very tall son has always had problem with his back. Sitting at desks at school use to aggravate and the bed he was sleeping on didn’t help. So we researched and found this to have excellent reviews re firmness price was good too. I must admit I was a bit worried about buying such a large item on line without having seen it or trying it. Needn’t have worried. It was delivered on time. It is easy to carry up stairs. It’s hard to believe that what you carried up stairs is a mattress! Getting into is another matter. It took ages to get through the packaging. Once in it starts to come to life. It fitted the double divan really well. First impression is that it’s like a giant piece of covered foam. I must admit I did have a few misgivings looking at it. However, needn’t have worried. Son is really pleased with it. Says he’s sleeping much better. Nice and firm but comfortable to lie on. Unlike some people, we have had no experience with smells although after it arrived we did open the windows for several hours before use because of the reviews. Only time will tell if it has been a good long term purchase but for now it’s certainly value for money.
It was quite amazing to see the mattress rise to a usable size from its rolled state, this we think is best done in a spare heated room as in fairness it takes a good 48hrs. and as already stated 7″ in depth is the best it could muster, this also helps relieve the smell that many reviews mention.
We expected a bad night for the first time of use but had exactly the opposite, the mattress feels very firm but gives one a sense of floating on air with a great deal of comfort, in fact its the best nights sleep we have ever had and being very early risers it would be quite easy to lay in.
This is our first experience of a memory foam mattress having always had springs in the past but we could recommend the Silentnight 7-zone to everyone.
I have suffered long term back problems for several years from a fractured spine and much to my amazement most of my aches and pains on awakening have eased or disappeared altogether.
We bought this to fit on our wee 4 year olds new Pirate Bed.
It is a perfectly good sized mattress, don’t know what the reviewer who complained it’s too thin
is talking about! It’s the same thickness as a normal mattress once you’ve allowed it to
expand anfter unpacking it.
Our wee boy absolutely loves it and says “It’s really really really comfy daddy” so with 3 really’s who am I
Actually I’ve tried it and he’s right, it is really comfy, even for an adult.

The other thing I liked was that it had no trace of that horrible chemical smell that many memory foam mattresses have
for the first few days after being unpacked. So we were able to put it straight on his bed after it had fully expanded.
Mattress has a medium to firm feel.
I guess it depends on your weight… I’m kinda chunky, so it’s more of a medium feel for me, but may feel firm for the more petite person.

Memory foam has an different feel to traditional mattresses and it took me about 5 days to adjust, but after that it’s been fantastic.
Had it for a couple of months now and am getting some quality comfortable sleep.
Factor in the price compared to many conventional sprung mattresses, and it really is a bargain.
Only thing to bear in mind, is that the memory foam makes you toastie and VERY warm very quickly… This has been great during this winter, but not so sure how great that will be when summer comes around.
Still, very highly recommended… Quality product at a budget price.
The mattress is extremely comfy as it moulds to your body and then returns to its original shape when you get off. I have been sleeping on it for 4 months now and cannot find a fault. I was worried that it may be too warm for me as I had heard memory foam retains heat and some people reported that their bed was too hot but personally it has not been a problem.
In summary I think it’s a good comfortable mattress that is easy to buy online due to being rolled and vacuum packed and a pleasure to sleep on. Highly recommended.
Have needed a new mattress for ages but being a pensioner, couldn’t afford to buy one as the mattresses I had been looking at recently were in the region of about 500-600. Then saw this one reduced from 509 down to 229 for a king sized mattress! AND with free super saver delivery to Spain (were I live). It was just too good an offer to miss, especially after reading the customer reviews! So, ordered it, recieved it in 3 days!!!! Fantastic! Unwrapped it and gave it 24 hours to air off (to get rid of the chemically smell from the memory foam) and had a fantastic night sleep! I have a bad back and normally would be in pain after about 5 hours in bed so set my alarm for 7:30 to get me up. When the alarm woke me up, I was SO comfortable that I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep until 8:45!! Absolutely unheard of for me! Because I am sleeping better, I have found that I have a lot more energy so have been going through all those little odd jobs that you never seem to round to doing! Lol! I was a little concerned that my husband would not find it comfortable but he said he slept like a log and it was the best sleep he’d had in ages too! Neither of us found it was too hot either so we are really delighted with it.

I bought a cheap and cheerful “double guest bed” for the spare room – you know the type: a single bed, with another wee bed tucked in underneath that you can pull out and erect so that you have a double bed for the space of a single – ideal for guests.
Well when my folks and other family members come and visit, I end up sleeping in the spare bed, whilst they crash in my room in my comfortable double.
The thing about a cheap bed for the spare room is that it comes with a cheap and nasty mattress. Since I often end up sleeping on it, that’s a bad thing. Especially since I get a bad back from the wrong mattress.
This is a cheap and extremely comfortable replacement for the nightmarish (literally) spare bed. Sleeping in the spare room is now rather a pleasure! For the price, this mattress is impossible to beat!
Only thing is: do wait the full 24 hours (as recommended by the manufacturer) after rolling it out, before you test it. It is even more comfortable if you try it 24 hours later.
Yes, it does smell a bit when you first roll it out (rather like a little bag of ganja). But that smell quickly disappears. It definitely shouldn’t put you off buying this mattress. It’s really not a problem

I would definitely recommend this mattress. We were unable to afford to replace our pocket sprung mattress and therefore began looking at the cheaper memory foam ones in the store. Still not being able to afford these, we decided to look on-line. For the price, this mattress is amazing. Although not quite as soft and squidgy as the ones in the store, it is still incredibly comfortable. I was worried that it would be too warm (we have it on a divan base rather than the recommended slats) and the first night it really was baking and I didn’t sleep well. However, from the second night onwards I have looked forward to sleeping on such a cosy mattress and now love the warmth it provides. There is a slight chemical smell which exists weeks on however, although I don’t normally cope well with either strong smells or chemicals, it has not bothered me at all.
Although I would normally try out a mattress before buying it, I decided to take a chance on this one on account of all the good reviews and because of the very reasonable price. When it arrived in a rolled-up vacuum-packed state, I initially thought that I must have been sent a single rather than a double, because it just didn’t seem possible that it could be a double. Even when I opened the packaging and laid the mattress on a flat surface, it still did not look like a real double mattress. However, after leaving it for 36 hours, it grew, as if by magic, into a full-sized double mattress. Normally when I try to turn or move a double mattress, I always find it a struggle. However, this one is light and very easy to manoeuvre, which is a real plus. I therefore had no bother carrying it into my bedroom and placing it on my divan base, where it fitted perfectly. When I went to bed that night, I slept like a log the whole night. Because it is so very different from a traditional spring mattress, they warn you that it normally takes a few days to get used to it. However, although it did seem quite odd on the first night, I got used to it very quickly and, most of the time, I really do sleep noticeably better than I did before. So I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about buying it and can see why so many people have given it such good reviews. By the way, although there was a slight odour for short time (about 12 hours or so), it quickly disappeared.
I have never written a review for anything but I have to say that I’ve been extremely impressed…. but not quite about this product!This was a fantastic comfy mattress when I bought it 9 months ago. However, in the last few weeks it has become saggy and my partner and I were rolling together causing back pain etc. Silentnight offer a 5 year warranty but you have to go back through the original provider and I was not hopeful of a swift resolution. I have to say I was amazed and impressed by Amazon for their dealings. Within 2 minutes of online chat a replacement had been arranged and collection of my faulty mattress at no cost to me. The replacement arrived within 48hrs! The new mattress seems excellent …. I just hope its lasts in its wonderful comfy state for longer this time!
The mattress came very nicely packaged. My children could not believe that a large mattress could come in such a small package.
We unwrapped it immediately and left to expanded in an aired / warm room. There was quite a strong chemical smell as suggested by other reviewers however by the next morning it has abaited significantly.
The instructions suggest that the matress will take 24 hrs to fully expand however as suggested by others I found that by the time I went to bed that night it was ready to sleep on and quite frankly I couldn’t resist as it looked so inviting.
I have now slept on the matress for 2 nights, my back problems seem much improved and I have not struggled from a pain perspective to get out of bed in the mornng. Biggest problem I have now, is I do not want to get out of bed as it is sooooo comfortable.
I would recommend this matress to anyone, best nights sleep I have had in years.
When making the decision to buy the mattress I told my husband there were a lot of good reviews. he said reading a review couldn’t tell you whether it would be comfortable. However, i went with the majority … and it is comfortable. So a bit of a stab in the dark but not one I’ve regretted and I was very good value indeed.
Three years on and it us still, comfortable.
Four years on. I’m thinking this needs replacing. There’s definitely a hump in the middle, which isn’t hubby!
Fair enough. It wasn’t an excessively expensive mattress. I’ve spent three times the price for less comfort.
Of course it’s still a bit of a far cry from the expensive ones of this type, but if you can’t afford them this is a really good option.
I had a semi-orthopedic sprung mattress and I really hated it – it created valleys and hills, could feel every movement of my partner and I was basically forced to roll towards him as the mattress would tilt to the “heavier side”…
With this one you can forget all about it and sleep tight. Also my back pain disappeared within a week or so after using it.
It did fall quickly into shape after opening, the smell went away quite quickly. 12 hours is all you need to sleep on it.
It could be a bit thicker, but still it OK the way it is with the discounted amount I paid for it – 200.
I ordered this on Thursday evening and it was with us on Saturday morning – that was great. Got all the packaging off and laid the mattress on top of our old one as we had no room to put another one flat – you could actually see it expanding in front of you – which gave me an hour or so of fun
That night we made it all up after taking off the old mattress – and WOW, what a wonderful night’s sleep we had! I had been in hospital for 6 weeks and half way through I had a weekend pass home! On our old mattress I woke of a morning with terrible back pains – and that was 3 mornings on the run. Went back to hospital and the back pain stopped – came home last week and back came the terrible morning back pains. I couldn’t cope so researched this type of mattress and due to the great feedback decided that this was the one that was for us. It was a terrific choice, it’s so comfortable, it’s higher than the mattress we had which is nice – it’s also one that you don’t roll into the middle on – it’s fantastic and I would urge anyone looking for a good mattress to get this one. The price was brilliant as well, and free delivery, well, what more could a person want?
Firstly it is infinitely more comfortable than a spring mattress more than twice the price. It was delivered within a few days of ordering and as it was vacuum packed it was easy to take up two flights of stairs.
You can’t use it for the first night, but it is worth the wait. I used to wake up early but I’ve actually been able to have a lie in at the weekend as it is so comfortable.
There is a very slight smell, but only if you put your nose in it and try to detect it.
Moreover, unlike springs there is nothing to break. Just don’t forget you need to rotate it every week for the first three months and every month thereafter to extend its life to five years. Worth it as it is light and easy to do.
We have now been sleeping on it for over a week, and NO MORE PAIN!!! Also, I have a LOT MORE ENERGY — and who doesn’t need that? I must be getting great sleep. I wake up refreshed and energetic. I bounce to the kitchen and make my wife coffee in bed. Really. This mattress is a dream come true and a bargain to boot.
It comes all folded up, and they say to let it expand for 24 hours, but we let it fluff up for about 13 hours and it has been fine. You won’t regret this. Sorry John Lewis, you need to start carrying these.
Strange to receive the mattress rolled up shrink wrapped in plastic bag and wondering if it will be ok time will tell, the big problem is once it is out of the packaging it will never fit back in the bag, so not sure how you could return it.
The mattress seems fine at the moment but time will tell, origianally I ordered the Kingsize one but this would of been to big and as you can’t take it out the the bag I decided to return it and order the normal double size mattress, the returns service from Amazon was really very good and collected at date and time I asked for.
I have given it 4 **** Stars the only problem is the way mattress comes shrink wrapped.
Openend it up straight away as other reviewers had said it takes 24 hours to regain it’s shape, on the leaflet that comes with it, it said it would regain shape faster in a warm environment so I whacked up the central heating and it was ready to go to bed on that night.
The mattress itself is so comfortable, I usualy wake in the night needing to turn over because my side is aching from laying on it for too long – not the case with this mattress, it also makes the bed feel warmer which is a bonus in cold months.
As other reviewers have stated there is a strong chemical smell when first opened but for us this had gone by the second night.
It’s worth noting as well that if you have a slatted bed like we have the minimum distance between slats has to be 70mm and the maximum 100mm, this information is not so helpfully located in the bag and only seen once you’ve opened it and once you’ve opened it there’s no sending it back.
We got this mattress as we desperately needed to replace our old one but on a shoestring budget.
This ticked every box – it was cheap, easy to manouvre and above all it is supportive and comfortable. it isnt as squidgy feeling as some more expensive memory foam but i was glad of that. it is warm and feels so nice to get into – neither of us have any back ache any more the way we used to get.
We had no smell from it at all – maybe we were just lucky not sure – one negative though it is slightly smaller and the sheets to wrinkle a but due to this. small price to pay though!
If you are going from a 500 bed to this then it might not live up to your last bed but this is a good bargain that i would have paid twice the price for, sleeping like a baby now!

This new robust bed does not cause same ‘cramp’ issues so we are highly pleased. Price was good and delivery fine. Maybe too much wrapping on product, but no big deal. Would say this bed is 4.75 stars, maybe 5. Comfortable for ALL the body,and we like it a lot. I have a dicky back and still no problem, but great for arms, shoulders, etc. We are in our 50’s and so comfort and support count. Also has good warranty. All new beds take a few days or a week to get used to. In summary, this is probably the best foam double-bed size matress for price, i.e. not too hard not too soft.
I was wary of buying a mattress online as I would not get to know if I will be comfortable with it. So I checked out few memory foam mattresses in retail shops and then spoke to the customer advisor at Silent Night. They were very helpful in explaining the difference in the mattresses.
It was a different experience for a day or two, as we were used to the bouncing effects of a spring mattress. But this mattress provides firm support and does not roll your partner when you move. In short – it does what it says on the tin.
Though many customers say that this becomes too hot, I did not feel this variably. Being very sensitive to changing mattresses, I must say this is an excellent product for some one who does not like to bouncing effect and needs a little firm surface to have a peaceful sleep !!
Delivery was fine as it was through Amazon. Though City Link delivered it with a neighbor as I was not at home, still no problems so far with Amazon’s customer service. It makes sense to pay a little more for anything that is sold by Amazon directly and not a third party seller. Customer service is prompt and always satisfactory.
Recommend buying Silent night Mattress protector Quilted One (Not Waterproof – as Waterproof supposedly creates more heat).
I was not too sure when buying this, as all the advice says to try out a mattress before you buy and I wasn’t so pleased at first as I could feel a slight roll together with my partner. We then realised that our divan base despite looking flat, wasn’t completely so we tried it on a wooden slatted base and it is so much better! We had not had a memory foam mattress before, but now could not do without and are completely hooked and do not have as many aches as before. I do suspect that you could easily find better for a higher price, but we are very happy for the amount we paid.
