For the first time ever, experience the original four Star Trek films in stunning 4K Ultra HD. Newly remastered from original elements for optimal picture quality, each film is presented with Dolby Vision and HDR-10.* This exceptional collection includes four Ultra HD discs, as well as four remastered Blu-ray discs with hours of previously released extra content. Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (both the theatrical and director’s cut), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home are presented on both the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Discs.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE

The U.S.S. Enterprise boldly debuted on the big screen with the cast of the original Star Trek series, including William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and James Doohan. When an unidentified alien intruder destroys three powerful Klingon cruisers, Captain James T. Kirk returns to the helm of a newly transformed U.S.S. Enterprise to take command. This is the original theatrical cut of the acclaimed adventure and features Jerry Goldsmith’s rousing iconic overture.

STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN Synopsis

Including both the original theatrical and director’s cuts, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is one of the most celebrated and essential chapters in Star Trek lore. On routine training manoeuvres, Admiral James T. Kirk seems resigned that this may be the last space mission of his career. But an adversary from the past has returned with a vengeance. Aided by his exiled band of genetic supermen, Khan (Ricardo Montalbán)—brilliant renegade of 20th century Earth—has raided Space Station Regula One, stolen the top-secret device called Project Genesis, wrested control of another Federation star ship, and now schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk… with the threat of a universal Armageddon.

STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK Synopsis

Admiral Kirk’s defeat of Khan and the creation of the Genesis planet are empty victories. Spock is dead and McCoy is inexplicably being driven insane. Then a surprise visit by Spock’s father provides a startling revelation: McCoy is harbouring Spock’s living essence. Kirk attempts to steal the U.S.S. Enterprise and defy Starfleet’s Genesis planet quarantine to search for his friend, but the Klingons are planning a deadly rendezvous.

STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME Synopsis

When a mysterious alien power threatens the atmosphere of Earth in the 23rd century, Kirk and his crew must time travel back to 1986 San Francisco to save mankind. Exploring this strange new world, they encounter punk rock, pizza and exact-change buses that are as alien as anything in the far reaches of the galaxy.

Even though these 4ks are better than the blu-rays, states dolby vision, unless my tv is broke, they are not. My tv let’s me know when 4ks are dolby vision and dolby atmos.
The films still look good, even though most things look really fake now; instead of just fake.
If you like star trek then that’s a bonus, the set will only cost you 15.00 a film (4k).

An incredible collection that makes you realise the grandeur and ambition of these movies from 40 years ago! The resolution is so crisp – you can clearly see the model/miniature matte composites around the klingon ship in Search for Spock – but somehow it all adds to the magic.

The sequence where Kirk and crew steal the enterprise from space dock in aforementioned sequel looks incredible. State of the art model visual effects for the time – lathered in an epic score by the late, great James Horner. It probably looks better now in 4K than it did at the time in the cinema.

I love these movies and the upgrade on both the 4k and the blu ray disks is great when compared to previous releases . However it is very pricey at 79.99 so only purchase if you love all 4 movies . If you only like 1 then buy indviually on blu ray as there is not much difference between the 4k version.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe films have , quite frankly, never looked better. The old bluray releases had far to much digital noise reduction applied and faces looked waxy and unreall. lots of fine detail now back in the picture with Dolby vison and the wider colour gamut bringing a fresh look to all 4 movies. Lots of people complaining this isnt the full set of films and it dosnt include the directors cut of the Motion picture. The reason for this is simple, The other movies are still being worked on and the directors cut is also not ready. They are also being partailly funded by this release. Quite frankkly,if you wnat the other movies, buy this set!

100 percent imporvement over the last bluray releases

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersWhen it comes to Star Trek, we haven’t had much in the way of quality in some time. We’ve had to suffer through poor film transfers in 2009, the television shows Discovery and Picard as well as a god awful Rick & Morty wanna-be show, Lower Decks. It’s a sad time for the franchise and felt like a lost cause for older fans, like myself. It’s because of this that the announcement of the first four Star Trek movies in 4k came as one big surprise. Now that they have arrived, I am shocked to see how bad those old bluray discs really were.

As mentioned above, this box-set contains new stunning 4k transfers of the first four movies. This obviously includes The Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan (both theatrical and director’s cuts), The Search For Spock and The Voyage Home. All four movies are not just represented here as 4k movies, but also as standard bluray editions. These editions are downscales of the new 4k releases and feature all the extras, none of which are feature on the 4k discs themselves. The packaging is fairly simple. It’s two plastic cases, one for the 4k and another for the standard bluray discs. These are housed in a very colourful cardboard box with some interesting art.

As far as the actual video content is concerned, this is without a doubt the best these movies have ever looked. It’s a striking contrast to the previously released 2009 bluray’s and it is kind of shocking that Star Trek fans put up with those prints for so long. They’re atrocious in comparison. All four films have had the film grain, contrast and colour restored to how it should look. This gives us a nice range of detail and depth, to the likes we’ve never seen in these movies. Long gone are the weird colour and contrast issues, preserving the fantastic model work, costumes, sets etc.

There’s many scenes that will have star ship enthusiasts drooling from every possible orifice. The multiple flyby’s of the Enterprise refit, the battle in the Mutara nebula, the fly by over V’Ger, the reveal of the Klingon Bird of Prey, return to space dock etc are all fantastic. The clarity and detail is impressive with many little things to see that you’d never have seen in any other format. Especially when it comes to the gigantic mass that is V’Ger.

There is a moment or two where the screen looks a little soft. These are usually in the effects heavy shots but they are very much few and far between and only for a couple of seconds at a time. You can read multiple complaints about these scenes online and even see detailed pictures. But when these scenes are in motion, they all look fine and don’t take anything away from any of the films.

As far as I’m aware, the audio used for these editions is the same as the previous discs. These include a number of audio tracks, including 7.1 Dolby TrueHD for all the films and multiple language options. The 7.1 tracks all sound magnificent, especially when cranked up loud with a heavy sub woofer. It does a good job of preserving the excellent scores whilst not over powering the dialogue, atmospheric sound effects etc. The quieter moments on the bridge all sound excellent. You can hear all the bleeps and bloops of the computers spread out along the soundscape from the back speakers to the front, all the while the subwoofer hums with the engine noise and the dialogue comes out the centre channel. It’s extremely immersive and doesn’t sound like it’ll get old anytime soon.

This box-set is honestly a no brainer. The jump in quality from previous releases is shocking and is well worth the upgrade for real Star Trek fans. This set brings new life to The Motion Picture and shows us that it isn’t as drab and dull looking as we were led to believe. It brings new life to an old under appreciated movie whilst making the classics look just as good. If you don’t have a 4k television yet, this may be that push over the hill that you need. It’s a fantastic set that does an incredible job of preserving some of the finest science fiction movies of our time.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe visuals are terrific but I am sure that before buying the sound was mixed for atmos. Therefore I was slightly disappointed with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI’m very very happy with the way this release looks. The first movie desperately needs a restoration, and I’m happier to get the original Theatrical version first, as I can take or leave the Director’s Cut.

2-4 form the famous trilogy and I’m fine leaving things there. Yes, there were another 2 movies with the original cast, but 5 is absolutely abysmal, I’ll never watch it again and I’m happier not having it than paying for it to sit unwatched on my shelf like an expensive drinks coaster. I liked 6 when it came out, but I’ve cooled on it significantly since then – it feels like glossy fan fiction, so I’ll stick with my blu-ray.

Yep, this ticks all the boxes for me – even at this exorbitant price.

Golden Review Award: 45 From Our UsersI’ve decided to add a 5 star review because of the ridiculous 1 star review for a product which is only just been announced to coincide with Star Trek’s 55th anniversary. The aim has always been to get The Motion Picture and the Genesis trilogy out first as all of the films have needed an extensive upgrade from the original prints and of course not settling for substandard almost UHD but proper desperately needed restoration. The Wrath of Khan is the only original film to have received any love and care recently. Personally of course I can see that some people will be unhappy with the cost but 20 for each film is reasonable considering the new mastering. Also work is ongoing for the confirmed Robert Wise Motion Picture directors cut with upgraded effects which will take 6 to 8 months to complete so people will moan about another cash grab but it’s your choice. I’m really looking forward to something that I thought Paramount would never do. Remember the needs of the one…….

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersAmazing to see the first four Star Trek movies getting the 4K treatment at last. This will be particularly great for Star Trek’s 3 and 4 as they’ve never had the remastered treatment before. Bring it on!

Further movies will follow in later sets.
