It lives up to its name, very quick and powerful
It’s not heavy, but not lightweight either. Works well until trying to cut grass at wall and fence, then the plastic blades shoot off into the yonder.
This blade strimmer is ideal – (no more cord spools that never work – has anyone ever used a complete spool before it unravels or stops dispensing ?)
Brilliant customer service – the battery seemed not to charge after about the 12 months and they replaced it, free of charge, without any fuss.
I bought one just over a year ago as a replacement for a much heavier strimmer. I have a reasonable size area to cover and it makes the job much easier because it has good battery life. I was worried that the blades might come off really easy if they got stuck in the grass and I’d be forever clipping them back on however pleased to say that hasn’t been the case. I really only use it for the edges around the lawn though as opposed to anything that is heavier or overgrown.
After working perfectly for a year one day it completely stopped working. Battery was fully charged but there was just no power at all getting to the motor. I happened to check back on this page and seen that it said for customer service to email the address above. I did that and received a response within 24 hours trying to help me diagnose the fault and very quickly arranging for a replacement with absolutely no fuss. Genuinely thought this level of customer service was a thing of the past so can’t speak highly enough about it! Would absolutely recommend.
I was needing an edger for work purposes, looking at other reviews, I went for this one at what I think is a good price- the complete machine+6 spare blades.
The set up and use is easy and it has a quick charge time.
All in all well worth the money!! One downside to the deal was I never received the 6 spare blades promised in the deal !!
Update!!
I found the spare blades hidden away inside the handle. I’ve changed my rating accordingly.
I’ve tried a few strimmers on the allotment and this is a great one – I find blades better than cord and it’s easier to replace.
Great experience with the seller too. They fixed an issue I had in no time.
Ever lose your blades in the stuff you haven’t cut yet?
Buy blue!
My grass strimmer very easy to put on and off and good value for money
Was hoping for an easy to use lightweight strimmer but this surpassed my expectations. Blades are strong enough to cut through quite thick bramble. Excellent value for money.
OK so my favourite part of this trimmer is going to come straight down to the blade system, this basically means that you can remove the blades which are on the bottom disc that do wear down and are considered a consumable item post up in order to change them over you simply slide them backwards and pop them through the hole it takes seconds to be able to do and can be done on the fly whilst in the middle of a job, they’re replaced with the packs that you can also buy on here that don’t cost an arm and a leg, but you can also replace them with the strimmer wire type finish if you’re going to be doing a lot of edging which I actually use a lot more than the main plastic blades.
The strimmer itself is nice and lightweight, it has a really nice ergonomic handle which means that your hand doesn’t get tired from the grip whilst using it, it also has a balance slash grip handle which means that you don’t get tired when using it.
Battery wise it comes with a single battery which due to the fact that it’s a tiny little motor will last absolutely ages, I’ve managed to do my whole lawn in one charge. They do take awhile to charge back up afterwards but I prefer that if it’s going to give me more streaming time.
Overall make sure that you buy spare blades and apart from that it should last for ages
Very easy to assemble & do the great job but a bit heavy for me ( lady)
TOOK A BIT TO GET USE TO BUT GREAT I GOT MYSELF ON MY WAY BATTERY LASTED ME MOST THE MORNING THATS WITH STOP STARTING
I had a string trimmer and could not cut the nettles, so decided to give a try for the blade trimmer, the swift trimmer is really powerful and battery is lasting, the blade cut the nettle to pieces, I am happy with the results, the only comments is the blade is consumables, you may need to buy the spare blades very quickly if you are trimming the hard stem or even tree brunch or if you hit the edge of kerb, the blades will get damaged easily. If just trim the grass, then it is a wonderful tool. Hope these help.
The service offered by this company is very good. I had a slight problem which they understood and ended up by giving me a new unit under the guarantee with no delay at all. Would recommend this strimmer.
Needs to be a bit more sturdy, cheaper from manufacturers site
This lawn mower is very good, light and easy to assemble ,also good looking.
I all ready have a cordless mower of the same make and i am very pleased with that so far.
so i thought i would go for the strimmer and blower so i can then share the batteries for all.
All though i have yet to use the strimmer and blower, i feel sure they will be ok.
My brother in law put me on to Swift as he was very pleased with is purchase as well.
Its a grass strimmer. It was purchased as a replacement for a broken one.
This is a great bit of kit, quality materials easy to use and long battery life.
Some reviews mention problems assembling but the design must have changed as you only need to attach the lower handle and that’s 2 screws.
I’ve had 2 electric string strimmers and one petrol. I got fed up with the string constantly jamming up. Blades don’t last forever but very easy and cheap to replace. Recommended.
Looked at lots of reviews for a rechargeable battery strimmers & weighed up the different prices etc – this Swift was an excellent price & is excellent quality too. Easy to assemble & came fully charged ready to use. With blades it’s so much easier than having to keep renewing the cord every 5 mins. It’s light and easy to use & did a great job – garden looked lovely and tidy in no time. Very speedy delivery too!
Wasn’t sure because I hadn’t heard of the brand but i needed to replace my old petrol strimmer. It arrived quickly and was very simple to assemble. The little plastic cutter blades click on easily and are very efficient. The battery does all the way round my allotment with plenty to spare. It would do it twice I think. Cuts through thick weeds and largish stems but I imagine it would struggle with brambles. Light and easy to use. Engine cuts out if it gets too difficult which i imagine saves the engine. Full recharge overnight. All in all after a couple of outings i am very pleased. Got a pack of spare blades at the same time tho it comes with half a dozen in the handle.
Recieved items on time. Instructions easy to follow.
There were missing spare blades but I contacted the seller, and after definitely confirming that I had not received the spare blades, the seller sent me them by first class post. Just as a FYI, there are usually a few spare blades in the handle.
Used the grass trimmer on long grass and it works a treat.
Batteries come charged but, after use, they do take a while to recharge.
Blower is powerful enough to blow away small stones as well as grass cuttings.
I liked the power of this equipment. I used it to hack down overgrown horseradish leaves, nettles, some thistles, etc. I bumped the blades quite a few times before one totally came off but most of the other stayed on, I’d already ordered extra ones from Swift through Amazon. The blades are quite hardy, given I’d bumped them on bricks, wooden fencing, stones and even a steel pipe, before they gave up the ghost. I’ve given the rating I have because I felt some of the assembly instructions were a little confusing. Also, when I first held it after unpacking it I did think it was a little heavy, but I needn’t have worried because I didn’t notice it when I was using it . That said, I’m tall and quite strong.
Only used twice & so far so good… , good for strimming & lawn edging .. was bit disappointed there were no spare blades or strings …
The strimmer works well is well balanced and most effective if used like a traditional sythe.
Only dissapointed thing was it arrived with no spare blades.
Brilliant product. The trimmer is strong and works well. It’s not particularly heavy and the handle has a good grip. The blades are cheap and easy to replace. It’s easy to turn on and keep on, and easy to move back and forth as it sits under the arm comfortably. The battery life is 45mins which is quite good as I use it for my allotment. Another battery is almost the price of another trimmer!
Only used yesterday but initial impressions are excellent. No difficulty assembling. Amazing battery life. Lightweight. Used on large overgrown allotment. Cut through thistles and tall grass with no problem but have not used on brambles just yet . I am a 66yr old woman and have tried other strimmers before. First 2 had poor battery life. Tried a friends petrol strimmer but too heavy for me. So far I am thrilled with this . I bought an extra battery and blades. Dont know how this will be over long term will post review then.
I love this strimmer! The instructions were straightforward, and it was easy and quick to put together. It’s quite lightweight, which I find brilliant. I also love the blades…they’re easy to replace, which I don’t have to do often. I might buy a second battery, as it only seems to last about 45 minutes (depending on what I’m strimming).
An excellent strimmer
I have a range of Swift rechargeable garden tools, strimmer, mower, hedge trimmer and find them all excellent and easy to use. Interchangeable batteries means with 2 batteries between the 3 units I can do my whole garden without recharging
If I have one slight issue is that the strimmer is too powerful lol… especially with the plastic blades. I noticed you can get nylon string blades which fit so going to try some of these and see how they go.
If you want a powerful, excellent cordless strimmer this has certainly got my recommendatio
Very easy to assemble and very powerful motor. The only problem is that the cutter blades, although much better than string, must be used with caution when close to solid objects. Could be made with more durable material.
I have been using a petrol strimmer but have grown tired with the regular trouble to start it so I decided to go electric. I was nervous that there would not be enough power compared with my petrol model but with this machine there absolutely is. I can do everything I was doing before but with less hassle, more accuracy and no strimmer line breakages. I use about half a charge to complete everything I need to do. I can really recommend this machine. It takes minimal assembly and really is terrifically easy to use
Very lightweight.
But awkward to do the edges. after a month or so you get used to it and works well
Not sure why they don’t supply the shoulder strap that I have seen in some of their photos. Can only imagine it comes with it in some countries but not the UK. checked their site and nothing is mentioned.
Very tiring to use when edging as it’s awkward to use.
Battery life seems excellent.
Bought it as i have their mower, therefore the same battery.
But it does the job very well. Takes some getting used to after using a well-known brand that’s Orange in colour.
Sad to say their support is NOT good in my experience, guess it’s the opt-out blaming Covid. 3 emails and no acknowledgement of any of them let alone a reply.
Fantastic product but poor customer service.
Wasn’t convinced with these initially, but I think I now prefer them to string cutters. They’re a bit aggressive against solid materials though so you can’t go in heavy handed like you can with more traditional strimmers
I don’t like it .It is very heavy to use.I have only used it twice. On the second charge although the battery showed fully charged. The strimmer did not work.I require a refund as its not even four months old.UPDATE I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH SUPPLIES .Brilliant communication they have sent a replacement strimmer so I will give them an upgrade on the stars.
Purchased this on the strength of published reviews and have not been disappointed. Only took me 5 minutes to assemble and the battery came with a full charge. Used it on my largish lawn to trim the edges and was still going strong after 35 minutes use, with plenty of charge left in the battery. Much better performance than my old Bosch line strimmer and blades are simple to remove and replace. Would definitely recommend it.
OK so I have this for two days and have recharged once. Can`t judge long term.
But it seems well balanced and fairly robust.
The battery came fully charged, has lasted at least 45 minutes from 4 bars charged down to 2 bars, at about 3 hours to recharge to 4. I think it would give an hour`s fairly hard work on high grass, nettles, cow parsley in total, so not bad.
Depends on how wet/dense the greenery is. Very thick damp grass is harder than nettles & cow parsley.
The nylon blades are pretty robust (order a spare pack) but will degrade if you hit wire or logs etc.
MUST wear eye protection as it is high RPM and will throw up debris.
Happy so far.
Excellent battery life and lightweight , however if you are over six foot like me there is not enough adjustment on the sliding shaft to get a comfortable usable position , in fact if you adjust the height to the limit on the shaft the locking nut vibrates loose and the bottom half of the strummer drops off . Also you will need an Allen key , not supplied , to tighten up the bolt .
Item arrived Monday and unfortunately the battery was faulty. I contacted the seller and they responded very quickly and sent a replacement battery which arrived within 3 days so well done to them.
Have tried the strimmer and does exactly what I’d expect it to do. Now only time will tell with how the battery performs but so far going by the after sales everything is good. Could only give 1 star for battery as have only used once.
This is a very good little light weight machine, Had a small problem to start with but the after sales team were brilliant and they had it sorted by the next day, I have always used heavy petrol strimmers up until now but this machine makes everything so much easier
It’s good to know you have great back up with company, I would definitely buy from them agai
I have needed to buy a strimmer for a while now as I am constantly borrowing them from family members. I wanted a cordless strimmer as it is a pain to run a cable all the way to the edge of my garden, it also makes the strimmer more maneuverable and much quicker to set up especially when you need to strim cut lots of different patches of grass.
The strimmer was easy to assemble, the handle was a bit fiddly but one it’s on there you will never have to take it off. Initially I was worried about the use of plastic blades as they are not as widely available. In my experience the blades are extremely durable and I haven’t broken any so far. The strimmer also comes with several replacements and they can be purchased for a reasonable price.
The battery lasts for a very long time and is quick to recharge. I only have to recharge it every few cuts. The strimmer is quite lightweight and comfortable to use. I have used it up to half an hour with no issues.
These blades are specifically for the Swift cordless strimmer. The company sent them promptly and they are a reasonable price. They’re easy to replace on the strimmer as it is the speed with which they rotate that provides the strimming ability. They are made of plastic with a ‘Keyhole-shaped’ cut-out for fitting on the circular, raised nuts on the base so they slot in. If they do whizz off whilst strimming, the blue colour is visible in undergrowth. Once used up, just replace.
Being a total newby at gardening, I was told I needed a strimmer to tackle a totally overgrown garden. I decided that it needed to be a cordless one, and it needed to be more powerful than an 18V that seems to be fine when strimming delicate little blades of grass. Enter the Swift. Okay, it was a little more than I thought I’d spend on it, but then this garden will need maintaining, so I’m sure I’ll get plenty of use out of it. Attaching the handle caused me a bit of a headache, but then I’m blessed with 2 left hands so that shouldn’t put anyone off. In the end I managed, and set about on my first strimming adventure. The Swift didn’t disappoint; it cuts flawlessly through thick, heavy grass, thistles and bramble (approx 1/2 an inch thick max, I used loppers on the thicker branches). The garden is now virtually “flattened” and I’m happy with the tool. Battery seems to recharge quite quickly as well, which is another bonus. Good tool, happy I bought it 🙂
The strimmer is great and these blades are so easy to change. What a difference from the previous line strimmer that I was previously using, which was a nightmare when the cord came undone or needed changed. These cut the grass well and also cut through weeds – just avoid anything too woody as the blades are likely to fly off. I enjoy doing the strimming now, rather than avoiding it until it is really necessary.
My Swift Battery Strimmer is the best ive used and i have tried 4 battery strimmers now, lightweight, great power and have to say no faffing around with easy to replace blades, clipmols 1,s of and get back on with the job,Unlike every strimmer ive had with strimmmer wire getting broken and spending more time getting the right length etc than it takes to actually strim the area i have so well i am well chuffed with my purchase
I have had a problem with this item supplied by swift – email address on paperwork and on their website no longer available – please advise how I can get hold of them. thankyou
following above comment made the other day – my husband managed to contact Swift on Monday 14th Sept by phone and they have replaced the grass trimmer (without battery as that is ok) and it was received yesterday 15th Sept so 5 stars for their prompt and efficient action to the problem
Having recently purchased this I was a little concerned about the comments re the difficulty of assembling the handle. Once you realise that you have to use both spanners – one at each end of the bolt, it is a little fiddly but not rocket science – there is a helpful video on youtube.
Have used it to trim grass edges of lawns and strim wild patches – easy and intuitive to use – well balanced lightweight tool. The battery does take a few hours to recharge from flat but at 1hr 1/4 or so you get a good period of use – double what one of its much recommended competitors achieved.
It is easy to abuse the plastic blades which will break if they encounter too many rocks/ brick edges but with a little care they will last quite well. However, this system is more expensive than a string fed system even if a lot more convenient.
I have been looking for a cordless strimmer to use on my allotment, but couldn’t find one with the right power, then saw the swift 40v strimmer with extra blades at a reasonable price and ordered it. I am really impressed with it’s power and performance, it has cut through weeds and brambles. The battery life is excellent, I was able to used over a quarter of the plot and still had little under battery life left.
Our petrol strimmer was in for repair for 3 weeks, and might not be fixable, so bought this. Easy to assemble (just two small screens plus two nuts and bolts, and spanner provided), very light, and reasonably powerful. Got through some tall thick grass and nettles reasonably well. Battery was fully charged and ready to go. Simple design but seems very effective, but only had it one day. One of the cutting blades came off when hit small mound but easy to find and fix back on. All in all, can’t find anything wrong with it (so far anyway). Hope it’s easy to get replacement blades. The motor did then actually seem to burn out, but after contacting them I got a replacement sorted out in good time.
The Swift grass trimmer is easy to assemble and use. The 40v battery holds a charge for longer than my previous trimmer (Bosch). It is a powerful trimmer which may explain why the blades are easy to break if you don’t take care. Overall a satisfactory purchase.
I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this product due to the comments about fiddly construction of the handle as I have no one to help me. I needn’t have worried. It’s supplied with a small spanner and ratchet to help you. It was easy to attach and I had it ready to use in just over five minutes, so I really don’t understand why people have had issues with it. Anyway, I’m a woman in my 60’s and just over 5ft tall and I had no issues with the weight of this either. I would advise wearing gloves and goggles if cutting tall weeds as was the case for me. I have a small field that was very overgrown, some of the weeds were over 4ft tall and consisted of grass and thick nettles. However I followed the instructions that said you should cut them down bit by bit which worked really well, cutting off the tops first and then moving down the weeds until there was just a stubble at the bottom. Because the weeds were tough, the battery lasted just over 40 minutes which was enough for me as I needed a rest! Changing the blades is a breeze and the holder for spare blades on the handle is a nice touch. For me in Ireland Amazon’s Prime wasn’t a delivery option on this item and 28 delivery charge was steep so I took advantage of this by combining purchases of an extra battery and spare blades and I’m glad that I did. Having the spare battery meant that I didn’t have to wait until the original was recharged. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this strimmer and I think Swift have done a great job. It’s powerful and effective and as you can see by the before and after photos it can take on tough weeds with relative ease. I still have to finish the rest of the field by the way, waiting for a dry day! Based on this strimmers performance I’m hoping to save enough to buy their hedge trimmer next!
I bought this rechargeable strimmer after I couldn’t get my petrol strimmer to start without an expensive repair.
Delivery was quicker than promised, assembly was easy and straightforward. It is much more convenient, lighter and easier to use than a petrol strimmer and the plastic blades mean I no longer have to struggle to extend worn cords (tap to extend never works). The blades do wear and break but lasted for an hour or so when strimming through twigs and briors. I ordered spare blades which arrived in 3 days. Highly recommended
I’ve waited a whole year to write my review. As I wanted to test this to the max.
I bought this to keep the weeds down in my horse paddock. Docks, thistles, nettles etc. This machine really does the job! Yes I do go through a lot of blades, but it’s a small price to pay.
I’m female and can’t use/start the heavy petrol ones, but this is so easy. Cuts through the weeds easily. The only thing it doesn’t like, are the climbing weeds, as they wrap around the blades.
Battery lasts a good 20 minutes. It can get heavy after a while, but I just swap hands, I can use it easily with either hand.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a battery brush cutter.
Purchased this strimmer/edger as my old one was just to heavy for me now. It is lightweight, which is great, easy to put together and simple to use. I used it for approximately 20 minutes and I still had 2 bars of power left.
I had to practice a bit before I got the hang of using it as an edger, but as a strimmer It’s so easy. Also so much quicker to change the blade rather than the cartridge style line, which seemed to break every minute!
I hadn’t heard of this company before and I purchased after reading reviews, but I can honestly say I’m so glad i did, as this does what it says on the tin.
Reading reviews for this item was my first step. I was quite dissapointed initially to read the lower scores.
Now having bought the machine and used it, I realise….. you will never satisfy everybody!
My experiance is: Its easy to put the handle and safety feature on the machine. A little fiddely with the handle putting on the nuits but no big deal really. The bolts could perhaps be a little longer, that was all. It’s very light and cuts very well. The blades are plastic and of course will wear or break on some occasions but I have not had this problem at all. Blades do the job they are made for.
We hesitated for a long period before purchase. Looked at many machines, but in the end decided to purchase this unit. We made the right choice. Well worth the purchase price.
A vast improvement over my old strimmer, the battery on this lasted about 40 minutes constant use on heavy weeds & long grass, and only broke a blade once – and that was on a bird feeder! My old strimmer did have a fold-away wire guide that told you when you were up against an obstacle, this doesn’t! The old cord-cutting strimmer needed the cord fixed a dozen times in that time of use.
I wouldn’t call it exceptionally quiet, same as the old one, or lightweight – it’s heavier than the old one, but then no mains cable to mess around with. I recommend you get a shoulder support, or just use an old strap or a bit of rope, as I did, to take the weight. I do wish gardening tools were made longer for the taller user, but this one was no strain on my back once I had that support in use.
I bought this garden trimmer due to the good reviews. Boy have it lived up to the great reviews, first of all it arrived with the battery fully charged and do not be put off by the long delivery date on Amazon mine arrived within days not weeks as advertised. Very good Garden trimmer did my garden without having to replace the blades once and it did hit a few stones on the way. Thank you Swift for the very quick response to my email and yes it did arrive the very next working day. I am looking forward to buying your swift Lawn Mower soon and after using the garden trimmer I am confident the mower will do a good job.
I hadn’t heard of this brand but needed a cordless strimmer and didn’t much like the price and reviews on a lot of them. This one is fab and totally kicks the bottom of my other half’s Bosch one. It’s very easy to assemble with the exception of the handle which seems to be unnecessarily fiddly,so don’t bother with the supplied tools, just get some pliers and an adjustable spanner and it’ll be done in minutes. Apart from that it really is simple to use and I love that the replacement blades are carried ‘on board’. It feels like there’s been some good effort in the design as it just fits in your hand and is really intuitive to use. The battery clicks in (was ready to straight from the box) and I was trimming 20 minutes after it arrived. I’ve used it twice now and the battery is still going strong.
It’s very powerful, in fact you need to be a bit careful or it will scalp the lawn. It’s also useful as a path clearer/leaf blower after you’ve strimmed, you can waft it around about a foot above the path and voila it’s even tidied up after itself.
Brilliant strimmer, don’t be put off by it being a brand you’ve not heard of.
We bought the Swift cordless mower, strimmer and chainsaw. Can’t speak highly enough of them. The only thing that seemed to be concerning was the small plastic blades on the strimmer, but actually, they are pretty good.
Despite that, if you strim, you will wear the blades down. I am sure that they are non-branded alternatives, but for nine quid, I thought, get the real thing. Although I have no comparison, these do fit well, retain their edge and they do stay on. What more do you want?
Lovely strimmer. Light and sufficiently powerful. Batteries last well and charge quickly. Cleverly designed (in the UK). The only defect is that there is no obvious place to attach the clip of the neck strap. I bought mine in June and the motor stopped working the following April anfter about 5hrs total use. Chinese quality control is not that good and it’s a reason I bought from an established supplier with a 2yr warranty – SWIFT (SWISSINNO SOLUTIONS). I contacted them via Amazon and, following a phone call, a new strimmer without battery arrived 2 days later.
Good strimmer but buy from an established seller with a long warranty.
I bought this as a replacement for a petrol strimmer which was constantly giving problems. Since my husband died almost 3 years ago I’ve struggled to operate the darn thing and needed something simple to start and use.
The swift strimmer is excellent. It is lightweight and quiet. It one of the plastic blades come off then you just pop it on again. No messing with the plastic cord that I could never figure out with the petrol one. I have 1 3/4 acres and it cuts around all of the edges of several bits of lawn without running out of charge. I don’t think it would be able to tackle very long grass or brambles etc but that’s not what I needed it for and I doubt any strimmer of this type would be able to do that anyway.
Overall I’m very pleased with it. You just put the battery in and you’re finished in no time.
Other reviewers commented on difficulty putting the handle together but my son had it done in 5 minutes.
Only got it today but looks a good bit of kit. I noticed many had trouble assembling the handle and said a socket set was needed, I do not know if the company have changed things but mine had a little spanner and small nut brace so there was no problem. I only had time to test it today but the battery was fully charged and the strimmer certainly does its job. Only down side is there is no wheel to rest the head on when doing edges, and there should be on a strimmer of this price.
I purchased this product for my wife as she didn’t want to use our petrol strimmer. Was relatively easy to assemble if you have a second person to help (though I had to disassemble some bits as I realised I’d put them on the wrong way round – reading the instructions would helped)!
Charged the battery and then went into the garden with fairly low expectations against my petrol strimmer. I have now been using it for two months and I can only say its fantastic. Its far more powerful than I expected and the blades are actually pretty robust as long as you don’t hit stones! Battery life is well over 40 minutes (and thats a long time to strim). Its so good I now use it in place of the petrol strimmer unless I know Im going to be working near fences or stones.
It is a powerful strimmer with a good battery life. The blade system is very much better than nylon lines which don’t feed properly, I used to spend more time trying to feed the line than actually strumming. The only fiddly bit on assembly is putting on the handle – tip – fasten it together loosely on the unpadded part of the shaft then slide it over the padded part before tightening.
Up-date 3 years on. I have managed to burn out the motor on my original strimmer and have replaced it. The Mk II version has a different handle design which is easier to fit at the cost of the loss the spare blade storage. It now has a guard to prevent you accidently strimming plants.
What a great bit of kit after many years struggling with line feed strimmers this is a breath of fresh air. Had an old qualcast mains line feed strimmer which spent more time me trying to untangle the line than actually working. Saw this and the price just had to have it brilliant piece of kit. No more wire just 2 plastic blades to change when they break(which is not very often) really love it the only reason not to give it 5 stars is not easy as an edger.
Obviously with a battery it can only be so light, however it is well balanced and I could happily use it for quite a while. It will go through thin branches on a bush and even if you have chipped the end of the blades on a branch too thick (not actually what it’s meant for) it will still cut the grass. The blades sometimes come off on a thick clump of grass but can easily be put back on. My garden is so unlevel and was overgrown, so a lawn mower was just not possible, so I cut quite a lot of grass and never needed to change the blades, apart from one I destroyed on a wall lol the other one just fell off. 100 times better than a strimmer with the string/wire
This trimmer died on me while cutting the grass today. It was its second use since ordered. I fully recharged the battery just to make sure it wasn’t empty (although it was showing 3 bars out of 4) and gave it another try, but still no joy. It’s simply dead, something must’ve fried inside.
Too bad, as it was quite a powerful trimmer, and the battery lasts a lot. Mostly plasticky and quite cheap build, but really powerful.
The handle can be a nightmare to fit, but I managed it eventually. Also, it is advertised as a quiet trimmer, but it is quite noisy if you ask me. It’s pretty ok for the price, considering the battery is included, but only if it didn’t die after 3 weeks… How wonderful that would’ve been…
I’ve put in a return and refund request. Waiting on the seller to approve it so I can finally send the fallen “warrior” back to its origins.
*I will update my review accordingly after the replacement is delivered to me, provided it will be a better quality item than the first*
UPDATE 1: Replacement received and working properly. I’m reverting back to 4 stars and will upgrade to 5 stars if this second grass trimmer doesn’t break again in a few weeks.
UPDATE 2: It’s May 2020 and still going strong. Gave it 5 stars.
This is a good piece of garden kit. It’s more powerful than many other battery strimmers – more volts means more power – similar machines were a paltry 18v to 20v – this is 40v – it uses plastic blades – so no problems with the troublesome strimmer lime. . Assembly – the shaft is split into two but slides together and is fixed in position by a thumb screw. There are a further 2 screws and 2 bolts – the screws to fix the bottom guard and the bolts for the handle. On boy – the handle is such a pain to attach. There are two small spanners in the box – do yourself a favour and use a box spanner or similar. Also, like that it is designed and supplied by a UK company – the machine itself is made in China.
I’m a ryobi man through and through but I needed a cordless strimmer with blades not twine. So I went for this one today has been my first outing with this machine on a 4x6mtr lawn. With grass about 2ft high and very wet. Machine e battery lasted for 30mins. But in saying that it did complete one complete pass cutting reducing the height by halve. And 1/3 final pass at a height comparable with a mower. I finished it off with my petrol stihl. I’m happy with this machine as I only bought it for edging and wouldn’t expect to tackle a lawn in this condition but I couldn’t resist putting it through its paces. Blades lasted very well I found it a little short for me but I’m used to a stihl brush cutter quite a big machine in every respect. I’m 5ft 6 inches. But with a little more practice with this machine and i might find that it’s my style rather than the machine. I will be getting another battery as i think this has a place within my arsenal of gardening tools.
Exceeded my expectations, well done the Swift design team. After lots of researching on which make of switch start strimmer to go for I took a gamble on ordering a maker I was not familiar with. This is the 3rd switch start strimmer I’ve bought over the years, the other 2 cost a lot more. No 1 was petrol, heavy and got hot when being used – fuel tank split in the end. No 2 was ok but after just one year the head of the line spool broke and you couldn’t get spare parts. The Swift strimmer design runs off a powerful battery, no other fuel. Smart blade system for cutting means no more wasted time struggling with threading line through an awkward spool. Genius design Swift well thought out. The materials of the body are strong and not flimsy plastic- again great design from a UK company.
As a mature female this strimmer solves a lot of issues for me – really looking forward to telling the man next door his services are no longer needed. I will have paid for this strimmer in 3 months from what I was paying the man, plus I’ll do a better job and eliminate being ripped off.
Swift team – now have my sights set on the hedge trimmer.
Great Job!!
Previous reviews had commented on how easy this is to put together. No longer. Given that the manual supplied with the product did not match what was in the box it would appear the fixing for the handle has been changed. For the worse it would appear. You now need the dexterity of a pianist and the strength of a prop forward to attach the fixing bolts. I contacted the company who advised me to use pliers and download an updated manual online. Hmmm! I eventually got the bolts in (the wrong way round) and the trimmer works very well, easily outperforming the Black & Decker it replaced. The blades are pretty strong (the did come off a couple of times when they hit an oak tree but were not broken and are simply reattached). It’s well balanced making it easy to manoeuvre around a garden full of obstacles. The battery recharges quickly. Were it not for the assembly it would warrant an outstanding review. But Swift have scored an own goal with the changes to the handle assembly.
I sincerely wanted to give this product five stars, But Oh ! The model I received, did not match the fixing description in the instruction book and fixing the handle assembly I found so fiddly. The design assembly in the instruction Manuel, has been changed ( Why)? As the new version = [two small nut and bolt fitting along with two small spanners supplied for fixing the handle into a hollow compartment, I found most difficult and could not have fitted it without the use of a small box spanner I had from my workshop. Something so simple ; now made quite difficult; and how a lady purchaser gets on via fixing this new upgrade, I would be interested to know? I’m sure Swift can do better than this upgrade, via using two square head bolts, inserted into a square hole on one side and tighten two wing nuts on top, thus saving two spanners?. A perfect design spoiled . Brian H.
