Pretty much the perfect frying pan. Great cooking surface, good weight, comfortable handle and nice and deep. Love it.
I have several pieces of Jamie Oliver cookware and they are all good.
Great size, heat distribution just what I want. Love the glass cover. Works really well on top of the stove or tucked into the oven.
This is the best pan that I have ever used cooks perfectly cleans easily looks amazing
I’m throwing out all but a few of my own pans as I use it exclusively
Very Nice design, easy to clean and you can cooking quickly!! I love the jamie oliver product, brooks, accesorios… and I have a lot of his product!! But I hace one dception the “made in CHINA”… For me it’s Black point for him, I am french and I can’t anderstand why Tefal made th jamie collection in China it wasn’t like that before.
This pan is heavier than the one it replaced which was also Jaime Oliver so sometimes need both hands to lift if my arthritis is playing up. However I really like it and think the measurements on the side of the pan would be useful.
Great casserole dish. Very non-stick, can see the food through the glass lid. Goes from hob to oven and back very easily and easy to clean. Bigger than average so great for family one pot cooking.
Having had these before, they sadly died after 12 years of heavy use. Didn’t hesitate to buy them again. Excellent quality for people who cook and eat too much like us
It is a good sized pot for my family. Easy to clean. I am using it regularly but its longevity is yet to be seen.
At last a good sized wok that works well on induction hob and allows us to stir fry all sorts without spilling over!
There is nothing that I disliked about the frying pan it is lovely and deep if you do a fry up you can you cook bacon sausage and eggs in it and I made different dishes really impressed certainly a good buy.
Truly superb pan – they just don’t get any better. I love using this – works well and is SO easy to clean.
Great pan and would definitely buy again if replacement required. Absolutely brilliant.
This is a great pan heats up across the whole pan and is easy to clean properly non stick.
Solid material, great to see from the top what goes on inside it, feels very sturdy. I have found this stew pot spot on.
It does exactly what you would expect from a good quality product. Lovely to cook with and cleans up very easily, no sticking. If this performs as well as the other anodised pan I have then I’ll be very happy. Of course, longevity can only be judged with time, but I see no reason why this will not serve me well for many years to come.
Delighted with this pan. Good weighted pan. Nice lines. Sturdy handle and measurements inside are very handy. Cleans well too. Would recommend.
Idea for large dishes or if you are making sauces or saut your veg or browning meats. It heats up quickly and evenly and the two handles make it easier to move than a similar size pot or wok. The glass lid helps with splashing or to ensure heat remains inside when at a lower heat.
It cooks well and is easy to clean. An improvement on our previous pans.
Well worth the cost and if treated properly will give many years of good service
Solid
Doesn’t burn food quickly
Has measurements inside the pot
Easy to clean
Looks very expensive
This is a premium quality 26cm frying pan with a comfortable to use handle and infused with titanium.
I like the capacity of this pan because I have been able to cook a variety of recipes in greater quantity in addition to having a good distribution so that the food has uniform cooking, it is non-stick so it has also prevented the food from sticking. It has a transparent glass lid to be able to see the inside, as well as handles that are made of stainless steel, comfortable to hold and rivets with silicone inserts so I am satisfied with the product.
It is made of hard-anodized aluminium, with non-stick coating, it can also be used in kitchens with an induction hob and dishwasher, but since it is easy to wash and the food does not stick after use, I usually wash it by hand. with a little liquid kitchen soap, then dry it with a cloth and it is ready for its next use.
Overall this skillet is of excellent quality with a non-stick coating, it also has a large capacity with comfortable handles to hold and has a good quality glass lid, it feels heavy and of great quality, so of course I would buy it again.
Super quality pan set I bought the big pasta/stock pot pan as well I love them, I just wish that you could get a smaller one too for sauces
Bought to replace my pls wok that was on its last legs, heats up well on ceramic electric cooker, very easy to clean.
Heat distribution excellent, easy to clean, love this product, feels good quality, nice solid constructio
Significantly smaller than my idea wok with the same diameter due to the shape, good weight- not heavy but substantial enough to hold some heat. Nonstick seems great so far.
Really lovely and sturdy wok, easy to use and clean, very good quality.suitable for all hobs and inductuon too
A wonderful Wok to prepare stir frys and the likes in. Cleans very easily and I’m particularly fond of the handles which feel premium enough and allow for it to be hung or stored efficiently.
What a great addition to my kitchen this has been. The Saut pan is large enough to do the whole family meal in, with room to spare. The pan is made from hard anodised aluminium and the titanium-infused non-stick coating contains no harmful or toxic chemicals for super peace of mind when cooking. The saut pan is easily cleaned and works with all hob types, even induction and is dishwasher and oven safe. It’s not the lightest of pans, coming in at 3.7kg. If you have wrist issues, then this maybe to heavy for you, although it does have two handles for easier lifting, I still found it heavy when containing food. The pan comes with a super glass lid with a steam vent in it, please make sure you position this vent away from you when taking of the lid, as the steam will burn you, if you accidently put a hand or arm above this vent when going to lift the pan. The quality of the saut pan is second to none and the large size is perfect for family use, therefore it’s 5* from me folks.
Take away the branding (which actually puts me off if I’m honest), this is a superb pan for use everyday. Boil, casserole, sauce, fry – you name it! You can literally cook anything in here.
I find it so easy to wash up after too – absolute godsend.
I cannot recommend this more highly – just ignore the branding!
Fantastic pan with a superb non stick coating, goes through the dish washer with no problems. Perfectly cooks beef and pork without oil and chicken with a little oil but far less than other pans I’ve used before. It has a nice weight many maybe too heavy for others whilst pouring. Moved for a Copper Chef pan to this and much prefer this. Most cheap Tefal pans Ive had have been rubbish but this one is worth the extra few quid.
If you’re ok with the weight, it’s a great produc
Excellent quality!
Easy to cook in it, non stick and easy to clean!
Great as a gift for someone who loves cooking!
Highly recommend it!
The aluminum pan arrived on time and well packaged. The good part is that it also has a guarantee, but as a product it is light and cooks well in it. The food does not stick but I use special oil to avoid sticking. It washes easily but its description is very resistant and the material avoids chemical poisoning is exaggerated.
Great heat distribution, very easy to clean, use it most day as it’s very versatile. Highly recommend.
Tefal has a good name in kitchen utensils, and Jamie Oliver has a… name in Cookery. Hence once would expect this wok to be a decent bit of kit. Certainly if it’s going to justify the 64 price tag.
It’s a deep (they assert it is 10cm deeper… although deeper than what is not said), 30cm diameter wok with a long and a short handle on either side, and it is really relatively light – given its size that is; a pan this size is not going to be a true lightweight!
The anodised aluminium is infused with titanium, which I must confess sounds hugely impressive. The non-stick coating is as good as one would expect from Tefal, it certainly passes muster, and this wok has the advantage of being able to be used on all forms of hob; ceramic, electric, gas – you can even stick it on your campfire!
I have to address one significant and perhaps somewhat controversial aspect of Mr Oliver’s Wok however – and that is the fact that technically, I don’t think it is even a wok! This is because it has a flat bottom. This feature will of course make the purists and traditionlists swoon in consternation, but others might find the flat bottom an acceptable deviation from tradition, as, let’s me honest, it makes it so much more practical and easier to use.
A round-bottomed wok needs to be permanently attended, but one needn’t be so chained with this flat-bottomed job. It’s just as well it is so deep, or it would have simply been a rather wide frying pan. A quality one mind you.
So I’m on the side of the modernists, this is by no means a cheap wok, but its a very well designed and constructed wok, easy to use and clean it should do sterling service for many years..
Really like this saute pan, I’ve been looking for this for a few months. I have most of the jamie oliver range now. They are good pans however some complain the coating comes off. I would say to be gentle with all no – stick pans and use silicon utensils not metal. Don’t use high heat if it’s beyond what it says on the box
This is a good-looking pan with a toughened glass lid which allows the food to be checked while cooking. The size is excellent for families. This is a versatile pan that, as well as being used for sauting vegetables, meat and fish, it can also be used for searing, steaming, deep-frying and poaching. It has proven to be an excellent pan for stir-fries with the thermo-signal technology part with the hourglass good for knowing when it’s at the correct temperature. The non-stick coating is excellent and food doesn’t get stuck; the food cooks evenly too and this pan can be used in the oven. The only downside is it’s really quite heavy, especially once food is in it so having two handles is a necessity, plus it takes up quite a bit of cupboard room. But aside from that it’s a great pan.
What can you say about a brand like Tefal? The truth is that it doesn’t disappoint, it’s a very good frying pan and you have to pay for that. If you find a good moment, I think it has an adequate price. Although about this, when the name/photo of a famous person appears, I’m sure the price goes up a bit just for that.
Just by holding it you can tell it is an impressive frying pan. It does weigh a lot, 1.6kg without the lid, but that’s the weight you need if you want good material and good thickness to prevent warping. It is made entirely of metal, so you can put it in the oven, if it fits, because it is very big. Remember to be careful when you take it out, you will need a silicone cover for the handles.
It is a very versatile frying pan, because it has a large diameter that allows it to be used in many different ways, let’s say as a frying pan. But, thanks to its height, its uses grow widely. In addition, it can be used on all, or practically all, surfaces.
The handle is quite large, to keep the hand as far away from the heat as possible. As I said, it is quite a large product (about 53cm) and you will have to find a place for it as it does not fit everywhere.
It comes with a glass lid with a hole for the steam to escape. It is also a good quality lid, weighing about 700 grams.
The non-stick surface works very well, and there is a circle in the centre of the lid that changes colour to indicate when it is hot.
It is easy to clean but as with all frying pans, you have to be careful not to scratch it. Being a great brand and at this price, I think it will last longer, but it’s always good to be careful.
Over recent months, we have become converts to the idea of one pot cooking; all down to a series of books full of good diet recipes. You know the idea, saut off your meat, add some veg, add something moist and then let it cook out. To cook like this for any family, you need a pan that is big enough and has high enough sides to allow you to get everything in and to stir it round without decorating the stove top. This pan scores very highly on all counts.
Starting with the technical side, first of all it’s big and it’s not a lightweight. When it arrive I was wondering what else was in the box! However I shouldn’t have been too worried, it was just plenty packaging. Once out of the boxes, I was struck by the weight of the pan given it is made mainly from Aluminium which is quite light. There are sturdy steel handles and a substantial glass lid. The sides of the pan are good and deep and I can easily fit a curry or casserole for 4 into it with no fear of spillage. It goes into the oven (just) and works really well when slow cooking a stew. The pan has the excellent Tefal non-stick coating which the makers tell us is now infused with titanium, not sure what that brings to the party but I suppose time will tell on that.
In use, the non stick is very good and as the body of the pan is aluminium, the heat transfer is even and you have no hot spots. A side note here, I’ve seen comments online regarding aluminium pans and purported health risks. There is absolutely no evidence that cooking in aluminium pans poses any risk to health, the cooking surface of this pan is sealed away from the food using a non-stick coating. I’ve absolutely no concerns about using this or any other aluminium pan for cooking. To put this into context, aluminium is the most abundant metal in the earths crust. Organically grown carrots will have a naturally higher aluminium content than you could ever get from cooking them in an aluminium pan.
Externally the pan is hard anodised and is listed as being dishwasher dafe. I’m going to be candid here, I will never wash any hard anodised pans in a dishwasher and I’ve yet to see any pan that is truly dishwasher safe. On that basis, I can’t comment on whether this claim is true or not, I will not be testing it out.
It’s not a cheap pan, but no pans are these days. It is however, solidly built, versatile and fitted the bill for my current love of one pot dishes. It washes clean very easily and I’ve not seen any meal stick. It looks good and can be taken from the oven direct to the table as long as you avoid touching the handle. Yes it’s heavy, yes it fills the oven but it is equal in quality to my other Tefal pans and I anticipate that it will continue to provide service for at least as long as they have.
This is a product that is almost perfect, but misses its target in my opinion. You may find your opinion is completely different. I was going to label this “A tale of two woks.” as I’m comparing this new product with my Wok of 40 years+ and the new one has some issues. Issues that could be accomodating the 21st century and 21st century expectations.
It’s a 30cm wok made from aluminium that is antistick coated and will work on any hob. Tefal have ticked all the boxes here for a modern kitchen utensil and they have done it brilliantly in a pruduct that looks great and works anywhere. By comparison, my earlier wok is steel and will only work on a gas hob.
But here’s the issue. To make it work on a electric or induction hob – or any of the those new fangled devices, Tefal have given it a flat bottom. And probably that makes it a frying pan with steep sides. My other wok has a round bottom. Useless on electric, very useful for cooking wok food which gets swiftly cooked using a metal scoop that fits the curved base and steel that doesn’t have a antistick coating to damage. Just 40 years of burned in oil, which works pretty well instead.
Also the thin steel heats up very quickly on the gas. The much thicker aluminium takes longer and doesn’t give the precise control.
I note Mr Oliver has endorsed this. You may think he would understand a wok, but then he seems to endorse anything nowdays – it only has to be time before it’s cat food. Very possibly, he knows more about cooking than I do., in fact almost certainly. This will be a useful and welcome addition to the kitchen, but the old wok will live on.
Hope this helps.
Love these saucepans , I researched for so long before I purchased, opted for these, nice looking, sturdy and not too heavy, great in the non stick front, great heat distribution on my induction hob, handles are nice , not put them through the dishwasher to see how the non stick weathers as I believe hand washing is likely to make them last longer !
Wow what can I say. This is the best quality Wok I’ve ever seen in my life.
It arrives in a rather large box.
Its heavy so it won’t be skidding all over the cooker while you spin the stir fry.
It has a red circle in the middle and when the hourglass disappears from it you know it’s at the right temperature.
The handle is solid and it’s riveted on to keep it secure.
The non stick coating has titanium in it and you can tell its superior quality.
On the base it’s suitable for all hobs including induction which mine is so I’m very pleased about that.
I’m very happy with this Jamie Oliver Tefal Wok and I think the quality matches the price all day long. It’s worth five stars and more and I can definitely recommend it.
Happy with this large Frying Pan, made my life easier. This pan is large and very sturdy, has high sides. I have used it mainly for stir fries and it is excellent for this purpose; the heat is well-distributed, though I use fairly high temperatures. The pan is well-made and should, hopefully, be fit for purpose for many years. A booklet is included as a how-to-use and care for guide for the saute pan.
It heats up really quickly, and the heat is evenly distributed. Outer layer of bottom features a magnetic energy gathering ring, achieve a fast and even heat conduction, Energy and time saving. It’s suitable for my induction hob, as well as the gas cooker which is a bonus.
recommend that you do not super heat the pan when empty. It warms up fine with things in and the heat distribution is excellent. So, off I went. First cheese and ham omelette. It cooked beautifully and did not stick although some residue remained around the rivets which attach to the handle, these needed a little more effort to get rid of. A fry up, sausage and veggy bacon cook fine with no oil. Eggs, however tend to cook hard on the bottom and inadequately on the top , so I used oil and all was well. Fish, burgers, onions all cooked beautifully sans oil. So, yes, it works. I was surprised and delighted!
I obviously can’t tell you how good it will be with longevity, but it feels strong, without weighing a ton and looks very well made.
I love it. Its amazing, food does not stick at all. its just one thing what I dont like and can be improved: a lid, it can be owal and it does not keep when I try to leave a bit open while boiling soop, lid goes back wothout leaving any space where steam can go out.
This is the Tefal Open Wok (inspired by Jamie Oliver) which we have all been waiting for! Tefal have outdone themselves on this one, and it has been an absolute pleasure to cook with this wok since I’ve received it over a week ago. My personal favourite thing to cook on this has to be a good old stir fry. The wok cooks the noodles and veg to absolute perfection, without anything sticking to the edges.
I will say that, just like Tefals other products, this Open Wok has a significant amount of weight to it so if this isn’t ideal for you, then perhaps you should look for a different , more lightweight Wok. Saying that, the weight is a reflection of the high end premium used material that Tefal utilises to provide a stunning anti scratch and stick Wok. I love that my food suddenly is full of even more flavour than before, its as if the Open Wok helps to retain flavours. I also found that the Open Wok was super easy to clean and also retained food temperature incredibly well!
Would certainly recommend, a high quality, long lasting kitchen essential and investment.
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
This is well made Tefal/Jamie Oliver wok – hard anodised/ aluminium.
It can be used on all types of hobs, I use it on a gas hob.
I have it in a very generous size – 30cm, which is what I was after.
I like to cook stir-fry in the big wok.
It looks well made, feels sturdy and durable.
Both handles are comfortable to grip and don’t get hot at all. I like that there are two handles, I found it very useful when I had to lift wok full of food/heavy.
The non-stick titanium infused coating is good, during testing it for almost two weeks food didn’t stick to it at all, it works perfectly.
It is very easy and quick to wash it, I do it by hands, although it is dishwasher and oven safe up to 210C degree.
It has a thermo spot inside which informs when the correct temperature is reached. This wok distributes heat evenly.
It is a bit heavy, but lighter than the similar ones I had in the past and is very stable on my gas hob.
It came nicely and securely packed in the box, so would be suitable for a present.
Made to perfection with attention to details and very practical design, so I would happily recommend it.
Would I purchase it again? Yes!
Non-stick pans have being going through a bit of a reputational crisis in recent years due to historical health hazards and a lack of longevity if not used carefully. Allegedly, the safety problems inherent to non-stick cooking have been worked out by Tefal and their non-stick technologies are safe – so that is one negative, hopefully, taken care of.
This is a capacious, solidly built wok with high quality metal handles and a reassuring heft to it. The non-stick surface is fantastically effective. You can certainly use a little less oil than normal. Although it’s dishwasher safe, I’ve just been washing it in the sink since it’s so easy and I’m paranoid about the maelstrom of the dishwasher damaging or discolouring the surface.
Heat distribution is good and wok-like in that it is still possible to push ingredients to the sides if you want to keep them out of the hottest part of the pan. I use it with a gas hob but it’s compatible with pretty much any heat source. The manual mentioned that you shouldn’t heat this wok excessively, which is kinda contrary to classic wok cooking, but I’ve found it still works fine for low-medium temperature cooking and it is still possible to get colour on the ingredients without a high flame. It will lose out to an iron or steel wok for street food style fried noodles where the ‘breath of the wok’ itself is essential.
Overall, this is an excellent high quality wok for making big meals quickly.
I have a basic rather crappy ceramic hob and it takes a while for this pan to heat up on that. And then the hob decides to turn itself down so it isn’t great for stirfries et cetera. If you had a better quality hob like a gas or induction it is a lovely solid piece of engineering and it is easy to clean.
I’ve never paid 75 for a pan and honestly thought was way overpriced but this pan is amazing and I have used nearly everyday since delivered. It is really well made and just oozes quality, it’s a pleasure to cook in.The pan is large and heavy and that is only slight negative as can sometimes be difficult for me to lift especially if having bad day with my shoulder but it has handles at either side which helps. The handles and pan lid are substantial, well fixed and branded. The price has gone down from 75 to 62 since I received and I really think it’s good value this is a well made pan that will probably outlast me .Top quality and pleasure to use.
This is not a budget pan by any means, but it is of extremely high quality; capacious and really good at distributing heat evenly – I’ve cooked soups and stews without any problems with food catching or burning. Although caution is sensibly advised when cleaning the pan to avoid using any abrasive materials, in practice it’s really not necessary as the surface cleans easily with the gentlest of washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.
The lid and its handle are sturdy, and (as this is quite a heavy pan) there is an additional carrying handle (although be careful as both are metal and can become hot if the pan is left on heat). Overall, an excellent pan which I hope will provide many years of use.
The quality of this wok is just exceptional, no doubt about that, good solid piece of kitchen equipment that will, in this case, last absolutely years.
Compared to the woks I use, this one cooks lovely but the only negative point I have is that it’s heavy, it’s heavy without the food in so you can imagine using it with food in over the hob, I like to move my food around whilst cooking, even in the air, and with this I did feel I needed more strength. So what I’m basically saying is if you struggle to lift saucepans, pans. woks etc, then this probably isn’t the best wok to have weighing in at 2Kg!
This comes very well presented in a massive box, a bit over the top I would say, I suppose this wok had no chance of getting damaged!
I won’t repeat the specifications of this wok as you can read that in the product description. However, to look at and hold it sure does have that quality build to it, just like the pans that used to be made years ago when they actually lasted for decades which this one will.
I made a quick stir fry in this, the thermo signal timer fades away when temperature is adequate for the wok and then just empty in your ingredients. I mentioned the weight earlier, it’s really heavy to keep lifting it up and turning the ingredients, good exercise for the wrist though.
It cooked lovely, as expected, the food cooked evenly throughout the wok, even the edges were cooking away, just uniform cooking perfection! Washing this was a dream, nothing was stuck to the wok, oil helps, and it dried fine with no residues of water lingering around the handle area or joint.
Well worth 64.00, this will last for decades, if I could improve on anything I would say maybe Tefal place it in a bigger packaging box next time
Highly recommended!
Yes this Jamie Oliver sautepan is a little on the pricy side but if like me you love to cook it is worth every penny to have good quality pans that will last. The pan size is a generous 26cm and it is a weighty piece. I have tried it out and it performed well and did its job.
The pan has a non stick coating and is durable and easy to clean, i have washed both the pan and lid in the dishwasher and they washed great. The sides are a good deepness so no accidental over spill when cooking. It has a long handle and also a smaller grab handle as well, both are solidly made and the pan can be hung up when not in use.
The glass lid fits on securely and neither the handles or lid got hot when i used it. I am extremely happy with the pan and it will be getting tons of use.
Food just taste different with thus pan. I don’t know what it is, but it’s like, it’s fresher, cooks faster & cooks evenly. It has a magic pan!
It’s quite heavy (an indication that it’s good quality) & very well built. Indeed to first class standard.
My only concern is this is Jamie Oliver Teflon brand, so didn’t expect “aluminium” the word “aluminium” really put me off. I associate aluminium pans with lower quality. Plus it’s toxic in cooking. However, it is stated in description that the coating is titanium-infused & the adonised hard aluminium is in the outer for good hear distribution.
Quote: “…Tefal’s titanium-infused non-stick coating contains no harmful or toxic chemicals Rest assured, it’s 100 percent safe, for worry-free cooking”. So I’m thinking what is the titanium infused “WITH?”. I’m hoping no aluminium.
Food cooks very fast & tastes better. This is hands down the best pan I’ve ever tried. I even put the oil longer to heat up & it didn’t burn or smoke.
It’s very easy to wash & clean.
Very impressive pan.
Induction hob user friendly.
Comes with 2 year guarantee
This saute pan is excellent.
It’s plenty deep enough to provide great versatility.
Being Tefal, the heat distribution is excellent.
It’s very easy to clean and has instantly become my favourite pan to use at home…
Very good value for money
Extraordinary as regards the cooking of foods that fear sudden changes in temperature.
The cooking performance is nothing short of excellent, due to its ability to retain and spread heat evenly.
Huge capacity, versatile and excellent non-stick nature (thanks to the coating infused with titanium).
The diameter of 30 centimeters gives me the possibility to prepare large portions for the whole family.
It has double handle: short and the classic long in stainless steel.
What I really appreciated is the “Thermo-Signal” technology: when the hourglass disappears, the pan is ready for cooking.
Easy to clean material (even in the dishwasher) and compatible with all hobs, even the induction one.
A small jewel that cannot be missing in the kitchen of enthusiasts.
This arrived in perfect condition in its own branded box. It’s a Tefal pan backed by Jamie Oliver. Tefal is a brand that can be trusted and the Tefal products I’ve had in the past have always lived up to my expectations.
This pan is quite heavy so if you like to shake your pans rather than use utensils you may struggle with this pan. As can be seen in the picture its a big pan that makes it possible to use it for so many different types of foods , it has heat distribution and the Tefal red dot to show when the temperature of the pan is at the required heat. The non stick coating not only protects the pan during cooking but it also makes it easier to clean, but please make sure to use the correct utensils and cleaning products to protect the non stick coating and the life of the product.
I don’t imagine having any problems with this product but should any arise in the future I will amend this review accordingly.
Tefal always has good products. This wok is a really nice size and I love that it is non stick. It makes cooking so much easier. I just wish there was a lid that came with it though!
This is a great pan to use and we are both completely delighted with it – it’s going to get a great deal of use. It’s quite heavy and the great thing is, it has a second, smaller grab handle – that doesn’t get hot so it’s easy to lift and move the pan. The lid fits perfectly and there again, doesn’t get hot – no danger of burning yourself.
We cooked onions and added mushrooms, they cooked evenly and to perfection – then we added the rest of the ingredients – enough for 4 people.
Apparently a saute pan has straight sides, allowing for liquid to be reduced – and is designed to cook a larger volume of ingredients without overcrowding. It’s really ideal for searing meat and falls somewhere between a frying pan and saucepan – it’s also great for curries.
As for washing it, the food residue almost rolls off – the easiest bit of pan washing up ever.
This is a seriously impressive pan, one to be proud of. It really is a pleasure to use and versatile enough for most purposes, on the hob and in the oven. You can read about the features in the description, so I won’t repeat them.
It’s big, 527 mm from the tip pf one handle to the tip of the other (slightly less, about 520 mm, horizontally). It only just fits in our integrated Bosch oven, at an angle across the corners.
And it’s heavy, at 2.3 kgs with the lid, almost 1.6 kgs without. It’s just as well they provided two handles! The handles are steel, so the pan can go in the oven — to 175C with the lid on or 210C without. They do of course get hot, but It’s easy to buy inexpensive silicone or other covers for them, if you find it necessary.
The pan is attractively boxed, so would make a wonderful gift. I’d treat myself, though, before buying for anyone else! I just wish it weren’t made in China. We’re trying not to support the Chinese economy, given all the wrongs China is perpetrating in the world.
This Tefal 30cm Jamie Oliver open Wok is amazing quality! This is one of the best high quality woks I have seen to date. Its made from quality hard anodised aluminium and other polished embossed steels and metals etc… I cook a lot at home with a wok and most low cost standard ones from the supermarkets don’t last long before handles go wobbly, wok is bent and coating doesn’t work etc…
This wok is thick, weighty, superior long life coating and the handles are stamped on and will not go loose, plus the handles attention to detail is amazing! The wok takes a little long to heat up but once heated up, it retains the heat so well. I can cook some light dishes on a lower flame setting because it keeps the heat so well. This wok is sturdy and doesn’t look like it’ll bend or dent easily. Its a work horse and the RR of woks, pretty much. Even my parents give it the nod of approval and thumbs up!
It was so easy to clean up and hang to dry, because of the non stick coating which is also thick layer.
I am very impressed with this wok and have zero negative comments about it.
Its definitely worth the value and will last for years providing you clean it appropriately and look after it.
I just used the Jamie Oliver 26cm saut pan for the first time and I have to say, I’m impressed. I cooked a Bolognese sauce and it cooked very evenly and nothing burnt. The pan itself is a joy to use. It has two sturdy handles and a see through glass lid. The non-stick coating did its work and cleaned up really easily.
Being endorsed by Jamie Oliver didn’t do anything for me as I’m not a fan, but I have to admit this pan really is the business. Easy to use, easy to clean and cooks as well as any pan I’ve ever used. Looks like I might have to rethink my opinion of Jamie.
If you can ignore the price, buy it. I have a feeling Jamie Oliver’s taking a nice cut and you’ll be paying for it. At the time of posting, this pan is seventy-seven pounds (that’s cost, not weight) which is rather a lot. But there’s no question: It’s a top quality product in every way.
My better half said: “It was quite heavy and firm when I picked it up. First I cooked char siu pork for our ramen dinner and it was perfectly cooked with this pan. It has an excellent non-stick surface so when I saute meats, it gets a nice brown colour without sticking. And that clear glass lid is very useful especially when you slow-cook for several hours. For example, with my char siu, it took me a few hours on the hob and it was easy to check inside with this lid which is handy.
“After cooking, I just wanted to keep it warm so it can be useful to put the whole cooked pan in the warm oven for a little while.
“Also easy to clean however, we have to be careful not to scratch the non-stick surface because most of our pans have partly or even completely lost their non-stick properties after washing up again and again. I hope this Tefal sautepan will be different.
“Overall, I like it a lot – except the price.”
