When I first got the Tom Tom Go 620 the life time speed camera updates as indicated on the box was only valid for 3 months. After managing to eventually get past the Ai help bot (useless) through to the human help desk the issue was rapidly resolved so thank you. Having now used the device for a few months I am more than impressed.
Excellent Sat Nav. BUT. Before you buy you are told LIFETIME SUPPORT for updates to maps and speed cameras. When you receive the product the documentation says 5 YEARS SUPPORT for maps and speed cameras. I want this product to have a lifetime of more than 5 years, and I want to keep receiving updates! So which is it? I purchased on the understanding of Lifetime updates. That’s what I want!
The product is as you would expect from Tom Tom
Only used twice so far..only downside is can’t get tomtom mydrive app on my Samsung s21 as its for earlier versions..works on iPhone 12 but no good for me..Hope TomTom sorts that out.
Nice size camera ideal for a car.
Great Wi-Fi for updating maps and cameras all at a great price.
My only concern is that my five year old camera started playing up and when I replaced the battery I lost everything, hope this one lasts longer.
Have had a “sniper satnav” in the past but got this tom tom recently and found it easy to use and great value for money. Would recommend buying it to anyone.
It is very disappointing. I now spent almost a week trying to get the advertised services provided by TomTom.
As a minor issue the chatbot and the MyDrive Connect website are buggy and somewhat dysfunctional. The access to service is also not very efficient and seems somewhat clogged. Arguably one only needs those a few times a year.
A more disturbing problem is that the phone app is draining the phone battery.
The main issue is however that the device came with only three month subscription and Europe services, and that, even after talking several times with support, they only offer one year and Europe services.
The advertised product and the product received is however correctly for
– lifetime world maps
– lifetime speed cameras
– lifetime TomTom traffic.
That is clearly stated on the product box and the device seems perfectly able to handle those services (it may need an additional memory card for storing several or large maps, which is not a problem). It is even physically identical with the GO Professional 520 Truck SatNav that is fully supported by TomTom.
The problem seems to lie entirely with TomTom that sells services that it decides to not provide.
I am still in discussion with TomTom support and didn’t lose all hopes to be provided what I bought, but at this stage, I’d say ‘stay clear from that company’…
UPDATE: the issue was apparently resolved satisfactorily. Support and TomTom recognise the sold service (Lifetime World maps, Lifetime Speed Cameras & Traffic Europe). I rate this around 4.5/5, with the decreased value from a 5 for the minor issues mentioned in the initial review and the somewhat bumpy start (resolution in a week is reasonable but one would like to have the proper product and service working out of the box or with a single iteration with the company). A dedicated device is quite useful, in my opinion, and TomTom software is quite good (the illustration of junctions coming up and lanes to drive on, etc.). (The phone app draining the phone battery is something to keep in mind – basically do not use it and use the GPS device as a GPS device.)
Thanks to the support team member who assisted with that!
Good size screen and easy to read even in the sun. Notifys you if you’re going over the speed limit with a ping. Screen is smooth and less jerky than my previous tomtom start xl. Can be connected to your smartphone via a mobile hotspot to give basic traffic information. Can also be connected to the phones Bluetooth to answer calls. It also has voice control, but I’ve disabled this option in the settings as it can interfere with navigation when someone speaks in the vehicle, as list of voice commands appear covering the screen, which is annoying. It can hold a full charge for approximately an hour until you have to connect it back to the power outlet. The magnetic mound is useful, all you have to do is position it and it clicks in very easily and out when wanting to detach the sat nav.
Firstly, note that, when the device was first set up the menu on the device said that the speed camera updates would expire after three months, even though the GO 620 is advertised as including lifetime speed cameras (it also mentioned lifetime speed cameras on the box). However, this was quickly sorted out in an online chat with TomTom. They just needed to see a photo of the box that the device came in, showing the lifetime speed cameras, along with the serial number of the device, and the speed cameras were changed to lifetime straight away.
One small problem I have been having recently with this device, and a similar TomTom SatNav is that it will sometimes lose the connection for traffic updates via Bluetooth. However, a simple fix for that is to switch on the WiFi Hotspot on my phone and connect that to the SatNav. It then seems to receive the traffic updates far more consistently.
Other than that, the SatNav does exactly what I had hoped, very pleased with it.
Easy to use, easy to set up, and gets me where I need to be. Screen is a nice size, and easy to see all the information without taking your eyes of the road for more than a glance. Hands free calling with it is clear and the person on the other end of the line can hear nicely too. Good audible warning of speed cameras, which, along with the maps, is easily updated free of charge. Diverts you if there is traffic on the planned route, which you can actually trust to get you to your destination.
Now the downside, the supplied mount does NOT supply enough power to the unit to keep it fully charged. Occasionally it will go through a restarting loop, it took me a while to suss out what was going on, but I recommend charging it on a phone charger before extended use.
Use for delivery of at least 20 address a day without a p
I used to think a sat nav is a sat nav and go for the cheapest option, then this one was recommended so I thought I would spend a bit more and give it a go, its well worth the money. The screen is bright and clear, the voice is clear and gives street names, the directions are much easier to follow if you need to glance down for a second, it shows a big arrow pointing to where to need to exit the roundabout (my biggest problem) The best thing is if you down load the app onto your phone you can put the name of the location you need to go to into the app while sitting on the sofa and it will automatically go into the sat nav so when you turn it on, click on my places and the location will be there, saves a bit of time. If you want a brilliant sat nav then I would recommend you go for this one.
Welcome upgrade to my old SatNav. Did a brilliant job on a recent long journey. Interface is more complicated than my old SatNav but I think I’ll get used to it.
Reason to buy was because I rented one for rental company in Florida cost 80 2 weeks. Bought this now have USA and Europe so win win awesome buy.
Plus Tom Tom customer service top marks 100%
As my very old TomTom had stopped being updated I decided to go for a replacement. Tried using the maps on my mobile but as the phone is old too it wasn’t very good, so bought the Go 620. The difference to my old one is amazing. No more having to plug it into computer, everything done by Wi-Fi. Large screen, clear vocal instructions. Brilliant.
Not straight forward to understand perhaps it my age 72 but once got the basic right good sat nav when paired with phone other things will be used once I got use to the basic. But very happy with this sat nav I would recommend the tomtom go 620 price is good.
Huge, responsive touch screen, and great quick disconnect system for easy storage in the car.
There is nothing to dislike. If you want more features, buy a more expensive one.
Again can’t beat tomtom great sat nav screen size is amazing but the accuracy of the live traffic is amazing
Would of got 5 stars but the voice recognition can be sketchy at best the live traffic is good and gets you to where you need to go without issues

Though had few issues setting it up, but can’t fault the accuracy of Tom Tom. MY drive is a great feature , search address, add and on you go. Provides great details about parking close by. Charges up quick but sadly doesn’t last very long, but can be used with cable attached for long distances. Free world maps for life is just icing on the cake. Great product, on discounted price. Thumps up

I bought this as replacement for a Tom Tom Go 520, which after 3 or 4 years has started turning itself off and restarting for no apparent reason. The 620 seemed like a good buy, with very similar features and layout to the 520, but with the addition of hands free voice readout of incoming text messages. The unit did not work for data traffic or text reading, as claimed. Customer support was via a talk screen set up on Tom Tom’s website. They advised resetting the unit to factory settings. It is not possible to talk via telephone. Text support advised that it was connected in settings but it still didn’t work. Traffic data still would not latch on, and showed unconnected in settings. Although neither of these features work, I can’t face the rigmarole of website chat, and as all the other features work I decided to use the sat’ nav’ without the text a traffic. Just a tiny bit disappointing, but these features aren’t deal breaker.

This is as reliable as all other TomTom satnavs I’ve had in the past, in as much as it does everything a TomTom satnav is supposed to do, but with a bigger screen. I use it every day in my job because of the traffic avoidance feature. It has easy to migrate/import POIs (unlike the built-in satnav in my car you can do this using a PC). If you use it with the MyDrive app on your phone you never have to worry about moving your POIs across to another TomTom satnav as it’s all stored in the cloud and is automatically available. Very intuitive menu system, natural looking colours that resemble an OS map, optional automatic day/night display at preset times, full post code search. I have tried other brands but none are as good as TomTom, although there does seem to be roughly a five year unofficial life expectancy on the hardware.

Really good satnav as you would expect from Tom Tom, good update system too no computer required!
Bluetooth Phone connection is glitchy it breaks up a lot which it very annoying, it’s what lets it down please tomtom rectify!
Touch screen is a bit off, often needs a couple of goes to get it to respond, and turning off is laborious. But it works well on the navigation and that’s the important bit. Screen is nice and easy to see, and route is easy to see.
TomTom is a confused and confusing company. You only have to visit its website to see that its available products are different from those listed on Amazon. Its customer service is very poor: you cannot email it, the ‘phone service is discontinued, and the webchat does not work (at the time of writing). The only communication that does function is its Users Forums, which actually seem quite good, but you have to work to find them.
Contacting TomTom is particularly relevant because I purchased the GO 520. At least that is what Amazon said it was and the TomTom box was very clear that that was what it was. However, the device only had Europen maps (not World) and a trial version of the speed cameras (not for life). I spent about 1.5 hours with Amazon trying to resolve this. They were very helpful, but ultimately I was given three choices: contact TomTom, receive a refund, or accept a replacement. I chose the latter, only to find the same problem. Having set up both devices, I could then see on the TomTom website that the devices were listed as Essential 520 and not Go 520. The solution was to use the TomTom forums and ask for them to be fixed. A few days later and the devices were reconfigured over wifi and shown as GO 520s. Clearly, the difference between the two is merely the software.
I have had the GO 520 before – it was stolen – and I knew what to expect. It is a good satnav. Years ago, both it and Google Maps were (very) occasionally error-prone in locations, but I think that, in the UK, they are both accurate now. In my opinion, it is better than most, and certainly better than an earlier Garmin that I had. It is, however, probably looking a bit old and could do with some new features. In particular, I am not sure how well it handles charging zones – and most particularly if it warns about them and how to avoid them. But it is a good basic satnav and worth paying the extra in its price for ‘lifetime’ maps and speed cameras. Otherwise, the costs of subscriptions are, frankly, outrageous.
I would buy it again.

My older Sat nag packed up and the biggest compliment you could give it was to buy a direct replacement.
Essential work item for me as a service engineer and used on a daily basis for finding properties and also route planning with its upto date traffic information.
This newer version has updated a few things including the general viewing where you can now put it on heading rather than set to north. Working ok so far and very happy, especially as My drive automatically put over my stored places and history, once logged in.
The old one came back to life after a factory reset and is now used in the car.

TomTom are the best SatNavs although not perfect.
Certainly easy to use and nice clear display which is why I choose TomTom.
The downsides are the TomTom Website is not great, the voice control is laughble and you have to link to your mobile to get traffic updates, which is a bit naughty. Otherwise very good

This sat nav is the best I have ever used, very easy to use, clear and concise directions, the graphics are excellent and touch screen concise and accurate. 6″ screen gives better visibility, the magnetic holder is amazing making it easy to attach and remove. The voice recognition is good but doesn’t always respond to what you are saying, this could be because of reception signal issues?
Overall an excellent sat nav the best I have ever used
Highly recommend
Fits perfectly on the bottom right hand side of my windscreen just above dashboard. does not obstruct my viewing. the screen is very clear. I do not have to use it all the time but when I do I plug it Into the WF and it updates immediately, so no problem with new roads, road works or closures. an excellent product.
I had a very old Tomtom device and in 2019, decided to replace it with a Garmin, which unfortunately was a disaster. It kept taking me down the most obscure roads imaginable. Prior to a trip this year I decided to go for a new TomTom device and this one hasn’t disappointed, some initial issues with the sound (if you turn off voice control, the device won’t talk back, note). It’s good to see how much these devices have improved. The sat nav is much easier to read, the battery life is much better, and despite being bigger, the unit attaches to the windscreen without falling off every ten minutes. The navigation is clear and conicse. Glad I bought it.

This is my second TomTom GO. I really like them and like the larger screen vs the 520. In general they are excellent. These would get a 5* if TomTom would only fix these two problems:
1. Plans routes through bus lanes (just got a fine 🙁 )
2. Where you have an address with a postcode but no house number you have to guess the house number and this could be miles (literally) from the centre of the postcode. I missed an important event because of this.
3. Erratic connecting iPhone to device for traffic.
I would still recommend to buy this device but look out for bus lanes!

Tbh was really looking on upgrading my tomtom go sat nav I’ve had for about 5 years as it’s been very good and still works but with the price being 129.99 it seemed to good not to buy and so glad I did
Good points is can now update via WiFi and easy to add destination on the app and send to device so when you turn it on it’s already there and just need to start journey, connects pretty quick tbh to GPS then my other one and the sound is loud and clear, touch screen is also improved aswell as sometimes didn’t register on my old one, installed with lifetime map updates and speed cameras which will come very handy for the future
Had a hard carry case for my old one which I tried and good job didn’t buy one as the mount won’t fit in it,bought one from ebay that’s like a little laptop carry bag for 7.99 and is an excellent purchase to store the sat nav and everything else
Travel bag case for tomtom go 6200,620,via 62,start 62 with accessories storage from digicharge seller for 7.99
Highly recommend sat nav and bag case

I was dreading setting this new TomTom up but once I had signed in the transfer of all my saved places, voice choice, view was all done wirelessly. How easy peasy & painless was that. Am loving the larger screen & voice controls. 10/10 TomTom
Tom Tom what more can i say don’t agree with some comments as I’ve used Tom Tom for 20 plus year’s and there all have been great this one for the money it’s fantastic

I purchased this to replace my old TomTom that had outdated maps. The reason why I went for this model is that it states it has lifetime maps, lifetime cameras, and lifetime traffic included! I used it to go away on holiday a few days after I bought it and it was ok the traffic updates etc were pretty good! The problem came a couple of weeks later when I needed to travel 60 miles away it came on and it stated that my traffic updates had expired? I tried sort it out but it just kept saying I needed to purchase a subscription! As I needed to be somewhere I decided to try and sort it later. When I got within a mile of my destination the TomTom kept trying take me down a dead end due to roadworks that had completely dug the road up. I had no way of diverting it as it wouldn’t update and every road I turned down was a dead end and I had never been to that area. It took me 30 mins to try and figure out how to get to my destination as my TomTom was useless!
When I got back home to sort the traffic updates out but trying get tech support for this issue has so far been useless! Ive tried contact Amazon support, TomTom support via the app, TomTom support via their Facebook page and TomTom support via their website but it’s all automated “bots” that don’t seem to understand my problem!
Update:
I received a response from the Facebook message the following day and the above Traffic update is now resolved. I’ve yet to use it but it’s showing up in the settings as updated. So if you need any support regarding your TomTom then I would advise to message them via the TomTom Facebook page!

I received a response from the Facebook message the following day and the above Traffic update is now resolved. I’ve yet to use it but it’s showing up in the settings as updated. So if you need any support regarding your TomTom then I would advise to message them via the TomTom Facebook page!
