Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOur old microwave packed up and my husband and I were desperately trying to find a replacement. There were so many options around! Do we want a combi, a grill, buttons, knobs? It took us a month to finally make up our mind and we’re so happy we went for this one. We got it half price during Prime Days, which kind of helped! Still, I think we’d buy it again even without the discount. The front is silver, but the sides and top are black, which looks perfect in our kitchen. It’s really capacious and can fit our dinner plates on the turntable. It’s super easy to use and you don’t need a degree to operate it. It’s also really easy to open and when you open the door, the oven doesn’t move. We have had it for about 10 days and cannot fault it.

After many years of use my old microwave just stopped working. So this lovely , sleek one has replaced it.

Sits nicely on the counter top and matches my oven and hob.

This product was easy to order, it arrived quickly and is doing what I expected of it. The only minor complaint is that at the end of the program it pings five times which I find a little excessive. Other than that I am very pleased with the product and service.

Thought this microwave was brilliant until tonight when it caught fire. Cooking jacket potato and heard a noise, turned around and flames were shooting out from the metal plate on the right hand side. Luckily I managed to switch it off immediately. Only 14 months old and used once or twice a week. I have since seen another review and the same thing happened after 12 months. I’ve sent an email to Toshiba, lets see what they reply.

    Caught fire

Bought this as it was a Which? Best Buy. Hasn’t disappointed. Easy to use, works well and cooks much more evenly than our last oven. We’ve had to reduce cooking times on a lot of items for instance reheating a cold mug of coffee took 90s in old oven. Same temperature takes a minute in this one. Looks good as well

When our old microwave packed up after eleven years sterling service we had to look around for a replacement. After doing our research we finally plumped for the Toshiba. Most microwaves do what you want them to do but the big feature which made us go for this one was the keyboard. You can key in the time rather than repeatedly pressing a button. An excellent feature are the ‘quick keys’ If you press numbers 1 to 6 before pressing the ‘cook time’ key the microwave will start straight away and run for the set time. This is great for microwave dinners! Very happy and hope it lasts as long as our old one 🙂

Very pleased with this replacement for my broken 15year old Panasonic. While it is lower power rated, it cooks more quickly, and is a LOT quieter than the Panasonic, plus no fan noise afterwards. It just heats and stops and sits there looking smart.

The only obvious thing missing from the preprogrammed options is for fresh vegetables. Frozen is there, and dinner plate for reheating. But then it’s easy enough just to hit a few multiples of the 30second function to make a couple of minutes quick cooking. Great job Toshiba.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMoved in a new house and I needed a microwave for specific jobs.

What you get? A big solid box with a brilliant product inside. Mind the item is quite heavy!

Build quality? Nothing to blame, it weights quite a lot compared to what I know a regular microwave should and this is a great thing in my opinion, this is a static product so you dont have to move it that much.

Is it stable on the kitchen counter? Well, even with 2 hand is hard to move just a bit, so YES, is very stable.

Size? It is a 23L, fits even more than a large plate so I dont worry that the size might be too small.

Power? 800w, does any kind of job a microwave should, so all good.

The menu? Quite advanced, several programs that you can choose from, quick menu to select the time, you can even use it as kitchen timmer(which is briliant). The menu is touch(if your fingers are greasy somehow you will get marks on the buttons), something important to add here, it is touchscreen but in fact it has a plastic cover on top of the buttons and it is more press type than touch, still easy to use.

There is one thing that I dont like, here is a personal preference only. If I have to keep something inside for exactly 17 sec I have to pay attention and count down from 0:30 which is a bit annoying. I still prefer the wheel type of menu to select the time very specific. This is just something I need, doesnt affect the functionality of the produt at all.

Finish? Nice grey at the front, black matte on the sides and back.
Do you get marks on it? Yes, everywhere but at the same time, easy to clean so all good.

Overall experience? Would recommend this product to anyone, also the brand Toshiba never disappoints.

If this helped you in any way, please click on the helpful button below. Thank you

►Big size, powerful, smart menu but not so speific as I wanted

Now I’ve been using this was a bit I can say it is fantastic. It’s easy to use (I don’t like fully electronic microwaves) with instructions I could understand! I really like the eco option – which is always on. And yes, when you use a cup or jug with a handle the handle is always position so you can just pick it & take it out – that’s right no more having to find & turn the handle! It’s just brilliant.

Our main priorities were a small footprint, easy but flexible controls, and does the basic jobs we bought it for. After using it every day for the past few weeks, I can say that it has met all our requirements. Add to that it’s very reasonable pricing point, and I have nothing but praise foe this dot of a microwave.

Just one further point regarding some previous comments regarding this unit. You can set ANY cooking time from 1 second upwards.

This is only a microwave so its much smaller than our old micro. oven and grill.
    Why downsize?
The old one died and we realised we never used the oven and grill.
So this well reviewed Toshiba was bought.
The build quality is a bit tinnier than the old one, that was four times the price.
The door has a economy car clunk rather than a BMW clunk ~ does it matter ~ NO !!!
Does it work well ~ YES !!!
    Good features are

Press start ~ 30 seconds cooking
Keep pressing it goes up in 30 second intervals
    Quick cook
    Press 1 for I minute
    Press 2 for two minutes
    Up to six minutes
Warm plates gets them almost hot enough to fry an egg on~ GREAT ~ I hate food served on tepid/cold plates
HAven’tused much else as I don’t need to
I’m VERY PLEASED with the good value Toshiba microwave
Only time will tell if it will last 20 years like the last Toshiba we had.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe’ve had a built in microwave for the past 7 years but 2 in that time. They are not reliable so decided to go back to a counter top model but put it in the space where the built in one was. There’s plenty of room for ventilation but, like the previous 2 machines, this one gets lot’s of condensation inside when cooking anything with liquid in it.
It is a great little microwave, though I can only just fit a dinner plate inside so make sure you measure yours before you buy.
It works very well & is very easy/intuitive to use.

Love the eco mode, little bit tricky initially getting it to go ,but persevered and it does respond most of the time. Overall timing works but must admit use the 30 second button quite often. Generally does a good job, having not used grill yet so that remains to be seen . Happy with this as replacement for older type of microwave. Like the size and power of it.

Not surprising because it’s cheap, but heating to 190C takes almost 10 minutes.
Controls are a bit fiddly, learning how many times is needed to touch each button to activate functiosn os annoyingly complex.
Black interior is far harder to keep clean than white or stainless, wouldn’t buy black again.

I guess microwaves are all pretty similar. The last one I had was British and failed just after the warranty expired and the part needed to fix it was nearly as much as a new microwave. I’m hoping the Toshiba will serve me better. So far I’m happy. It has all the functionaity I need, is big enough to cope with sizeable quantities, looks good and, most important, it works.

On opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to see how premium this microwave looks. As for performance, this microwave was to replace an older microwave we had for many years, and the difference in cooking times is truly remarkable; this beast can cook things fast. After using this for around 3 months now, I’ve no complaints. Happy to recommend.

Brilliant piece of kit, great value. It is powerful and quick to cook. Nice bright easy to see timer. The finishing beep cuts out as soon as you open the door – nice touch. Like that it stops with the item facing the front, or you can just open the door any time if you prefer. Very quick to set the timer with the rotary button.

Had an old microwave (Sharp R-259) that finally died after around 10 years.

We wanted to replace it with something as similar as possible (preferably with next day delivery), so were looking for the following key features:

    – 800 Watt microwave
    – Touch buttons for the interface- not a twist dial
    – A handle on the door that can be pulled open, not a button you have to push in to make the door pop open
    – As close to, but no less than 22 litre capacity
    – Next day delivery

There are surprisingly few microwaves that meet all these criteria (not just on Amazon, but anywhere- atleast on the day we were looking)

Have used this for just over a month now and its working perfectly. I particularly like that you can just press the ‘start’ button and it will do 30 seconds automatically, and then you can continue pressing it to add 30 seconds each time (even when its in action).

It looks nicer than the old microwave- black and metallic. When its done it beeps loudly 5 times, so its quite hard to miss.

Not much else to say really, it has all the features we were after. I recommend this, but I also suggest you do your own research as your needs may differ from mine. Things like touch buttons or a twist knob come down to personal preference for example.

It does what I need and I haven’t had any problems with anything I have heated.

Defrost works well, still starts to cook the food at some points but I think all microwaves do this… If you wanted something defrosted properly you should really be leaving it to defrost at room temperature not zapping it but it’s good for a quick solution.

Looks smart and is easy to use. Door has quite a loud “clunk” when being shut but feels solid, overall pretty happy with i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLook, the microwave is just fine. Does it’s job and didn’t blow up so that’s good. But it’s almost exactly the same as my 8 year old samsung microwave it’s replacing. Same sounds same everything. It’s not quieter then any other microwave and the door is just as loud as our old one. Beeps long and loud enough to drive me nuts when it’s finished- just like the old one. But I don’t care as long as it works, unlike my old one. So don’t expect something better or new, it’s just a microwave.

Very easy to use and keep clean. Love the single touch to heat on full power 1 – 6 minutes. Plenty big enough for a big dinner plate. As a microwave excellent choice. If you rely on the clock though, be aware that this one seems to be rather inaccurate, so you might want to have a normal clock to check when you need to leave for work 🙂

Being a combination oven it offers far more flexibility than anything I have ever used in the past. It is very easy to clean, and can function as a Microwave a grill or a convection oven or ANY combination of the three that you would wish. I am sure the younger generation will adjust to this far quicker than those of us who are perhaps that much older and less technically minded. On that basis my only real criticism comes about; the machine comes with only the most basic set of instructions, telling you what button to press or nob to turn to what setting for the device to perform one of the many tasks it is capable of doing. What it doesn’t help you with is what the settings should be to cook ANYTHING in any single or combination method apart from One of the pre set options for a pre set range of products of specific weights a fantastic facility but not always the answer. I have invested in a cookery book specifically for this type of machine but it doesn’t seem to offer any of the answers.
Given time I will probably develop enough skills to undertake the tasks I need to with enough flare to make it edible.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like the look of my new microwave and the simplicity of operation. The interior looks easy to clean and does not have an annoying lip at the front, as did my last one. Too early to comment on long term performance or durability but at least it feels pretty solid. Two gripes: I discover from the label that it’s made in China — and I’m trying to avoid products from the realm of the CCP; can’t even the Japanese make stuff at a competitive price any more? And whatever possessed Amazon’s operatives to place the delivery label squarely over the unpacking instructions on the box?! Unlike most Amazon labels, it didn’t even peel off easily so I had to guess (wrongly) how to unpack my heavy, unwieldy microwave oven! Thankfully, no harm done.

The Toshiba replaced a Panasonic microwave which had cost more than twice the amount about 6 years ago and which had always struggled to cook potatoes in their jackets evenly, much to our frustration. Rather than go to the effort of trying to repair the Panasonic we bought the Toshiba microwave after reading the review by Which?, and at just over 70 it seemed extraordinary value for money. The Toshiba has not disappointed; it has been easy to use and, with the advantage of a turntable, cooks potatoes much more evenly. We also like the design – it has a retro look which fits in with some of our other kitchen appliances.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhilst we do not use the full functionality of the machine what we have used works really well. Baked potatoes using the preset bakes potatoes as if they were baked in the oven.
We like the absence of a grill etc as we found this to be superfluous on our previous microwave. But we don’t watch movies on our phone either!
The instruction booklet is very helpful to set up and after a few times we soon knew what to do.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this based on the official blurb below it’s Amazon listing pronouncing this to be a super quiet microwave, perfect for my spouse to make her pre-commute 4am porridge without waking me or the neighbours. I found this machine to be very noisy indeed. Given that it beeps very loudly with each keypress and beeps incessantly once its finished cooking it seems pointless to proclaim the microwave operates so quietly that it won’t even wake a sleeping baby – the infernal beeping will have the toddler rudely awake and wailing in no time.
Everything else about the microwave is great: it looks quite nice, for microwave, looks very easy to clean and is very easy to operate. But if you’re hoping it’ll be as quiet as Toshiba’s marketing team claim it is be you’ll be at least disappointed as I was.

I used to have an integrated microwave and grill, which worked great, so I bought this hoping it’d work as well. The microwave works well, but the grill is mediocre. My only criticism is that the light remains on if the door is left open and the unit can get hot, so after heating something up I have to make sure I leave the door open to let out the residual steam (and smells) for only a couple of minutes and then not forget to shut it!

Perhaps not the most stylish microwave but does have a utilitarian appeal and more than makes up for this by offering straightforward and easy to operate buttons.
Definitely won’t have to consult the manual to operate or even set the clock. All very logically laid out.
Most importantly it cooks food and reheats meals brilliantly.

There is a fault with this item, but Amazon gave me a 12% discount on the price i paid, if i hold the door in tight for a few seconds, the microwave starts to work, not a serious problem, even though i have to do this all the time i use it, but when it is working it is great, easy to use and does the job, a bit noisey, but then i did buy it used from Amazon warehouse deals, all in all, i’m happy with what i paid for the item.

We bought our previous (Proline) microwave over twenty years ago, and it always worked well, and when it eventually stopped heating properly we worried the new one would be tricky to use, e.g. only allowing 30 second increments, too programmed into new clever ways of working. Our fears were entirely unfounded: The new Toshiba is dead easy to use, even easier than the last one. We really like the one-touch start (just press 1 to get 1 minute) but it’s easy and intuitive to press time to cook – enter the number of seconds – press start – so we can continue to warm butter fresh from the fridge and similar lazy but life-improving tasks…

I like that the cooker is versatile and power saving. I have to pay attention when using it, I can sometimes set it incorrectly. Overall it is a good purchase. Thank you. Peter

Either it is easy to set the oven incorrectly for preheat and convection cooking or it often fails in the middle of the setup so that I find it preferable to use my main kitchen oven to preheat and warm my meals. I am still trying to decide what is wrong. Is it me not setting the toshiba oven correctly or does the oven not follow the procedure correctly.
I am very careful with the settings and folllow the procedure in the instructions for use with great care. It seems that once it has gone wrong I have to leave the oven to reset itself before it can be set for convection cooking. I will persist carefully until I am satisfied that it is either me or the oven that is unreliable. Pete

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI looked at several microwaves before settling on this one, really didn’t one that took up loads of worktop space and this one is a good size. Limited instructions but I am getting the hang of it, would have liked more information or instructions on how to get the best of the combination features. So a bit of trial and error at first. The only slightly negative is that the grill is not very strong, seems to take ages to grill small items such as fish fingers and I fear I may give up trying and go back to my traditional grill. Apart from that I’m happy.

It’s easy to use with lots of functionality, instructions are clear and the 30sec quick start button is very useful. We bought it because it was large enough inside to take large dinner plates and bowls. It looks great and is easy to clean. All in all, very straightforward and we are enjoying i

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGood size. Easy to clean. Lots of useful functions. There’s a reheat Pizza button, which is particularly useful in our household.

I have only taken a star off because I genuinely thought the whole thing was silver from the pictures and it is only the frontage that is stainless steel / silver. If that isn’t a problem for you then I would give it 5 stars.

    Mmmm....pizza

After my old microwave of 14 years decided to retire to wherever old microwave ovens go, I looked at a number of options. This one seemed to be a good value and promised next day delivery.

It was easy to set up and works well. Simple to use and food goes in cold, comes out hot.

Really impressed with this. The extra wattage really adds a lot of power over slightly cheaper models.
The quick 30sec blasts are really good and we use that for most things. The auto settings for jacket potato worked perfectly.
Looks smart and easy to use.

    My only reservations are:
    1. Use of moulded plug which made it necessary to cut large 50 mm hole to feed the cable plug through oven cabinet to power point. A conventional plug would not have required me to cut a plug-size hole through the cabinet since I could simply have removed the plug to feed the cable through a small opening. For reasons of safety was not happy to cut and extend cable!
    2. Cable was about 5 cm shorter than previous Panasonic microwave cooker that I replaced with the Toshiba after 17 years of use. This meant that I could not hide the cable.
    3. Legs should be designed to be easily removed to allow oven to be slid into place. Had to use force and managed to refit legs but with considerable difficulty.

Although performance is impressive for the simplicity in operating microwave oven, practical issues involved in fitting and installing not thought out by Toshiba. There is the tacit assumption that every customer wants simply to plonk the oven on a working surface: wrong and highly irritating!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI specifically bought this because I needed a better microwave, but also needed another conventional oven as I only have one fitted oven at home, and this can be an issue when needing different temperatures or just space etc.
The microwave is very good. It’s very powerful and heats/cooks as expected.
The conventional oven is not so good. It works fine, and It cooks, but I’d recommend adjusting temperatures/timings.
Add 10 degrees temperature and 10% cooking time to anything if using conventional. It’s understandable as it’s not primarily designed as a conventional oven, so I can forgive it for that.
The controls are easy to use and master. You may have to press a few buttons and twist a few dials, but they are easy enough.
The build is pretty robust. I think because of the conventional oven they have added more heat insulation and shielding.
For the price, I’d say this a is a good buy, and I’m not complaining.

This is a great microwave. Having given it lots to do over the space of a month I.e. grilling, cooking, oven baking it does do the job very well and is a good quality product for the money. Well worth the asking price although you will need to spend a little time acquainting yourself with the instructions.

I replaced an old 25 microwave from Sainsburys that finally died (dial) and picked this due to the reviews and cost. I made a perfect choice. For saying it’s 75, it has a wealth of features that makes it so easy to use. First 6 numbers, press once and it cooks for that many minutes – quick and simple: that’s all I was after. Couple that with the +30 seconds when you press start for a last minute warm up and it does everything I wanted.
It even looks good in the kitchen.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWhen I saw the instructions on how to use this machine my heart sank because they seemed to be so complicated. Then I discovered that I could just set it to full power using the top knob and just leave it on this position,. When I want to cook something I just rotate the bottom button to the time I want to cook things for and press the start button and that’s it. Just rotate the bottom button and press start, so simple.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this microwave after my old one had packed up and couldn’t wait till this one turned up. It looks lie somebody actually made an effort in designing it. I love the fact that the door is opened by pulling a handle as the previous one woud dance around the worktop when pressing the door button. It has handy settings for preparing stuff – I only used the popcorn one so far :).
While mentioning the manual could be a bit more elaborate. It for example in the potato menu (jacket potato I guess) three different settings depending on the weight, which only is described in imperial values (ounces) where I only do metric. And the above mentioned setting for popcorn tells to press once for fifty and twice for one hundred but it doesn’t say of what. Hence one star taken off the rating. A major company like Toshiba could have made more effort there. Otherwise a brilliant machine.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersVery pleased with this. Bought it to replace a Sharp combi we’d had and used every day for nearly 10yrs so it had a tough act to follow. Very easy to use even though the instructions were written in 5 minutes on a stamp. Not much in terms of recipes etc. Sharp one had a dedicated jacket potato button that produced perfect jacket spuds with baked crinkly skin using microwave, grill and oven. This hasn’t but you can do the same manually with this Toshiba by selecting all 3 cooking types together, but you’d have to work the time out by trial and error.
Very easy to clean and heats up to 200deg in 5 minutes. These are so good now we’ve only used our main over twice in 5yrs. This is very inexpensive too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPersonally I never use microwaves for cooking but find ‘weight defrost’ and ‘reheat’ invaluable. This microwave is great. Was bought to replace a kenwood 900w and so far I’m very impressed. The weight defrost is far better, you can set the exact weight where as with my old one you had to round the number up or down. Also the kenwood had a tendency to slightly cook the edges of things when defrosting this one however is far more gentle. Microwave itself is simple to use, very self explanatory. Didn’t need to bother with the instructions. Would certainly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Userseplaced another microwave which was flat bed – very good feature BUT light bulb needed to be replaced in less than 9 months this would have required a return to the Factory to do.
The Toshiba can have bulb replaced by user and it is excellent to use. Especially the one touch pad for 100% options
Still with a rotating table for dishes and awkward to take out and clean. The flat bed model i had peviously was easier but not if it needs to go back to the supplier to have the bulb changed. I am very happy with the Toshiba model

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersJust a microwave, I gave up on combination microwaves after my last ones burnt a hole through its metal chassis, my brother similarly had the same problem with a different manufacturer of combination ovens. I don’t think this is stainless steel as suggested in it description, but it’s a new world, there could be something in it made of stainless steel somewhere, but i think the chassis is mild steel painted with enamel paint. At least it was cheap, I hope the chassis doesn’t burn through and another perfectly working transformer and magnetron don’t go into the local tip because the chassis is leaking microwaves all over the place. Ignore the noise (Decibel) rating, it’s as loud any other microwave I’ve had.

This is the perfect basic microwave. There’s no grill or double-ovens, or any of that malarkey – just a well-built, easy to use, large microwave. Large dinner plates fit in here easily and the electronic buttons are dead easy to use (I hate fiddling around with timer dials on some other models). It looks good, too. Thoroughly recommended.

It’s a microwave, it works like a microwave and it cooks as you would expect a microwave to cook.

Is there anything exciting to say about it? It has a popcorn button, that’s always good I guess, saves a couple of clicks if your unsure how long popcorn should be in for.

Basically it’s s good sized microwave that we’ve had for quite a while now and it’s never failed to make my soup all toastie, so it’s been worth every penny we paid.

Timer options on second dial puzzling; but by multiple presses of start button can add a series of 30sec slots to the operating time displayed.
Seems to work well if slightly less power than claimed 900W (old Sanyo 800W would boil over a mug of milk/water coffee in 2 mins, this can run for 2:30 without boiling over? I like to stop it just before boiling over to give a creamy top).

Golden Review Award: 83 From Our UsersI bought this using black Friday for someone but then I kept it for me inside, it has a grill inside, which I didn’t know. I buy croissant now and then, I use the oven feature which allows me to grill and use the microwave to heat it up. I was confused on how to use the microwave has it doesn’t have many buttons. But then I saw the sticker on top which helps. This is a great microwave which has 2 in 1 feature. I use it a lot. Also when heating beverages the beverage node return the cup to the point where I placed it so it allowed me to grab it without looking for the cup handle.

Golden Review Award: 66 From Our UsersThis is a powerful microwave. I was in awe of it because it seemed too complicated to use but after reading the excellent Instructions manual I soon got to grips with this 21st Century model. The food cooks without drying meat or fish and the Auto settings are a dream come true. Vegetables cooked this way remain succulent and tasty. So easy to clean and there is no need to fear the steam that is emitted after use. Its probably what keeps the food moist. I leave the door open for a while for the steam to clear. It’s a very powerful microwave so follow the instructions to the letter. I would recommend having scales to weigh the food on the Auto settings. Guessing the weight will result in scortched food! I learned that lesson the hard way from experience.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAm waiting for a response to my query sent yesterday. When cooking rice (in an appropriate microwave rice steamer) the area between the two panes of glass in the door misted up very badly. This cannot be correct.

18th Sept. – have had a response now telling me that this microwave is unsuitable for cooking rice. There is no mention of this in the product information, and I have always cooked rice in previous microwaves with no problem, so I’m rather disappointed in this one for that reason.

I’ve held off buying a microwave for a long time but I can’t fault it. I like the easy one button timer setting which has also has a quick 30s adjustment button. 800W is more than sufficient. Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersWe needed a new microwave and didn’t want to spend a fortune on an all dancing all singing model. This one fits the bill. Reasonably priced, easy enough controls. Wish I’d paid more attention to overall dimensions as it’s quite a bit chunkier than the old one; but that’s probably my fault for not being more attentive. I might also have chosen a different colour than black but it’s a microwave not an oil painting and it lives in the kitchen! So yes, does the job nicely.
