They’re great if not a little more expensive than the rivals. My kids love sitting on them through the airport. You probably can’t fit quite as much luggage in as a more traditional case but the novelty factor more than makes up for it.

Perfect for short stays and for kids cabin luggage! They can carry, tow or ride the case to their little hearts content. Well made inside with retaining straps to hold clothing and tidy in place. We have one for each of our three children.

Good product. My son loves it. But the suitcase has no compartments inside and the paint also seems like wearing off after a few usages. So slightly overpriced at full price

Present for our youngest grandsons first birthday as we are all off on holiday soon. Love the case and his old brother has had a trunki for 2 years and he loves it and we use it often on family holidays and it is the right size for all his toys and clothes and it looks as good as new, even after being battered about by a lively 3 year old

After my child’s first and only tantrum over a red and orange Trunki (I made him leave it behind in a shop), I started looking around for a one to buy. Pedro the Pirate Ship was on offer at the time and it wasn’t something I could refuse. My son loves it and I can’t wait to use it when we travel abroad in September. It’s sturdy and big enough inside to fit all of his bits in. The only niggling issue I have–will it be more awkward to open/get things out of because when it opens, it splits down the middle?

Either way, awkward or not, a Trunki is a must. Not only is a vital storage on a aeroplane with a toddler but provides much needed entertainment.

My 3yo son loved this and made moving through the airport with a toddler easy. It’s big enough to fit a couple books, a small blanket, and some toys. We kept it under the seat I front of my son on the plane so we could easily access it during the flight.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt fits a decent amount of things. I used this as a carry-on luggage for my toddler to put toys/books/stickers in to entertain him at airports and on our long haul flights. He loved riding on this through the airports and it was really great for those long treks from check-in to the actual gate (our longest one was a 15min brisk walk!). The fire truck design is one of the more expensive ones but I think it is well worth it as I personally think it is one of the best looking ones and my child was really impressed by it when he saw it. It rolls reasonably well even on the plastic wheels and steers fine – you do have to watch that you’re not going too fast around a corner and accidentally swing it out into other people walking and have to watch it going down a slope as it does catch some speed. The wheels are made a little bumpy when it rolls along which I didn’t expect but my son actually enjoyed this and would go “ahhh” while being juddered becoming an entertainment for others seeing us.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt keeps the toddler happy! Good design overall but the position of the horns at the front means that my son has to sit much further up front to hold onto them. When pushing himself forward he sometimes topples over as he loses his balance. There is nowhere else to properly hold and balance on this Trunki as the sides are too smooth and the straps are in the middle.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLoved the concept and for the most part, love the suitcase. It made a 22 hour travel journey to Australia alone with an 11 month-old and a 3 1/2 year old MUCH smoother. It allowed me to baby wear my infant and pull my toddler through the airport in style. Not to mention, it’s an awesome child magnet for my son to meet other kids who want to look at it. Adults thought it was so cool and my son loved riding on it every chance he got. The issue I had was with the manufacturing of it and is essentially why I will be returning it. The top review on this product (while long is very accurate and worth the read) mentions the hinges on this that come out of place fairly easily is indeed correct. It is very frustrating to hassle with the hinges when you have a moving toddler and baby to look after. So while I’m sure my son will be sad to see it go, we will unfortunately have to return and just before writing this I purchased the nickelodean ride on suitcase that has a zipping closure (versus the snapping/hinge closure this has). It costs more than this does, but hopefully will be worth it.

Only arrived yesterday and it is now my 3 year olds favourite thing! I had thought about buying one before, but didn’t think we’d get much use out of it. Thought I’d give it a go while it was on offer, and we are going on holiday in a couple of weeks – best decision ever! I had been just thinking out as a suitcase rather than a toy, but it really is both. Frank has been constantly played with since he arrived, filled up, emptied, ridden, carried around and put to bed in his ‘trunki kennel’ made from the box it came in. Practically, its never going to fit all a child’s things in for a trip of more than a couple of nights, but that’s not the point. You can buy accessories like stickers and saddle bags for it to personalise it. All the parts are replaceable so should anything break, you won’t need to buy a whole new one. It also has a 5 year guarantee which will last until a child grows out of it.

Very good quality, our son loves it! But now he wants to follow everyone else with a Trunki in the airport! But it keeps him occupied which was the initial plan of getting this.

  70. AmparoQfkdl says:

You cannot fail with the Trunki Ride-On suitcases. They hold a surprising amount for their size, usually most of my son’s clothes for a week away. Or else they make excellent toy or nappy/baby essentials storage for any away trips.
On top of that kids for crazy for them, the fact that they can either ride or be pulled along on the top is great fun – though this can start to wear you down in a busy airport!
The build quality is second to none, strong, sturdy, and the wheels seem to be indestructible! Even the latches to close the case are incredibly hard wearing, showing that you really are getting what you pay for.
It is also worth noting that these are classified as hand luggage with most major airlines, and fit the carry-on for the likes of Ryanair and EasyJet (but obviously double check this before travelling!)

  71. Byron Hurd says:

     United Kingdom

Trunki suitcases have been around for years and haven’t changed much in that time, aside from expanding the number of styles (though not forms). The main reason for this is the logic that “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. This is encouraging when buying since you know the suitcase is probably going to outlast your child’s desire to use it. If you do have any doubts regarding the sturdiness of a Trunki you need only check their 5 year guarantee. The same can’t be said for the growing competition, though time will tell.

To be honest I’ve never been a big fan of the Trunki’s shape – Frank is a fire engine simply because it is red, has wheels and a rudimentary fire engine decal on the side. The horns could passably be lights, but to me they’re horns. Fortunately the eyes of a child are not so critical and you’ve got them with ‘red’ and ‘has wheels’.

At the end of the day the Trunki shape is a practical one, not an atheistic one. It is easy to sit on but can also be slung over a should when needed (when travel gets the better of your child). It can also hold a sizeable amount of stuff and still qualify as a carry on – there’s no wasted space compared to some of the more exotic ride on suitcase forms out there.

I don’t really know what else to say – a Trunki is a toy, a suitcase, a storage box and a friend to your little one – turning travel tedium into something more of an adventure. There’s a colour/design for everyone and it should survive until your kid abandons it for something more ‘grown up’. Let’s just say we didn’t even hesitate to get one. And it’s a nee-naw! I’d give it 4 stars, but by son gives it 5.

Our 3 year old loves his TrunkI, both for travel and also general play. Robustly made, light weight with options on how it’s set up with the ‘lead’.

Works well as a seAt too and easily fits in overhead lockers. All in all very good.

  73. GlennStrehlow says:

     United Kingdom

The trunk is lovely – bright and colourful and the grandson loved it. Seems durable and is small enough to put under the seat. The fireman theme will appeal to a lot of children. The case would probably be a bit too difficult for a young child to open themselves which may be a good thing. It is easy to clean which is essential. The leaflet was good, giving 101 uses for the trunk. On the whole an excellent product – just the fabric handles let it down as they are not so comfortable for carrying.

  74. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

My fire truck mad grandson adores his Frank and plays everyday with it. It is good for when he goes over to his Aunts for the night or just the day, as he gets all his essentials in it as well as he has a toy to play with there. Since his cousin have these, he is happier he now has his own and doesn’t have to wait for a turn on theirs.

There is a little material pocket inside that holds the long pulling strap and his socks etc. It is made of moulded plastic and seems sturdy. I knocked a star off as I thought the price of around 40 was a little steep.

I just hope it lasts longer then the Trunki ride on toy box, that last a fortnight.

  75. VirgiliRoss says:

     United Kingdom

Smashing little suitcase, must admit it was a little smaller than I was expecting although the build quality is fantastic. Airports in particular are dull boring places, this suitcase will keep your youngsters occupied which is very welcome.

There is enough room inside for a couple of weeks worth of clothes, its deceiving from the outside although once opened there is loads of little areas that you can store stuff.

Time will tell if the wheels will stand up to the weight of our youngest riding it about although I will update in a few months with the answer.

  76. TrudyT28xonwc says:

     United Kingdom

This is a huge hit – our son loves anything “nee-naw” at the moment – and as soon as this was out the box he knew exactly what to do with it (he’s never seen a trunki before so I can only assume the inventors children were attempting to ride their luggage which led to their invention.

It’s a decent enough size (though might be too big for some airlines’ hand luggage allowance – you’ll need to check) and not too heavy either.

If I could change anything at all I would make the wheels more rubbery – given their size and material (hard plastic) I can’t imagine it’s the most comfortable ride on hard floors – and would provide some sort of padding on the handle for when you need to carry it. But apart from that we absolutely love it!

dear dog! I’ve never seen so much glee on a child’s face. He’s almost two, and vehicles are his passion at present. He sat on it and pushed himself around for hours, ignoring his sit-in electric car for it. He hasn’t got the hang of suitcases yet, but he’s going on holiday in the summer with his moms.

  78. Anonymous says:

I’d heard about Trunki’s before from other parents and with a trip to the US looming, and my boys’ obsession with the fire service I jumped at the chance to review the Fire Engine themed Trunki.

On arrival I was immediately impressed with how good quality the whole thing is with nice little touches. It’s very well built and I love the detailing on it. The case edges have rubber edging to protect against catching little fingers which is ace. The wheels etc feel very solid and sturdy.

To say this is a novelty suitcase would be to do it an injustice. My son has limited mobility so for us when we go through the airport it will give us the practical ability to have somewhere clean for him to sit. It is generous in what it holds without appearing large or being cumbersome.

The Trunki is more than just luggage. It is fund to sit on and ride along on and outside of holidays is actually a really neat and fun way to store toys and handy for us to put stuff into to take out for the day, a practical solution we probably wouldn’t have sought on its own.

A fantastically versatile case that is well built, looks great and my son loves.

These new designs of trunki (fire engine, zebra, etc) are identical in shape/size to the originals as far as I can see, but with the added bonus of some patterning on them. The “print” is applied properly, it’s not going to come off although it’s evident that it will scratch. It’s basically the same as a typical printed lunchbox really.
There are hundreds of reviews for the trunki, so I’m not going to be saying anything new here, but we do like them, and our small child also likes them. A lot. It’s a lot easier to just drag him along on one of these through an airport than try to get him to walk. Word of caution though, they really only work well on smooth floor, meaning totally smooth. Even a block paved “smooth” surface is a bit too bumpy. It’s basically airports, bus terminals, train stations, shopping malls, thats the kind of places these things work. I’d also definitely advise not trying to pull it with rider along anything other than the smoothest, because the handle (the clip really) doesn’t look strong enough. It needs minimal friction.
As for the design, it’s a big hit, because it’s RED. Need I say more? I’m not even sure if our 4 year old has spotted that it’s a fire engine or not, but it’s red and that’s all that matters.
Oh – one final thing. Don’t overload these things. They pop open.

  80. Troy Christian says:

We were going to put this in the attic with the other suitcases, but realised that it isn’t just a suitcase that would only be used a few times before he is too big for it, but a toy too. It is also helping him learn to clear up after himself. He dutifully packs away his toys at the end of the day and tries (like many adults do) to cram everything into the case. He has leant to pack things neatly to maximise the space and then drags the case around the room as he makes his way to the check in desk in the kitchen. At the security gate he was OK taking his slippers off to go through the metal detector, but things really kicked off when the customs officer checking for contraband told him his dinosaurs were being confiscated as dangerous articles (the signs clearly say; no bladed items, fluids, dinosaurs from the Jurassic period or aerosols). Eventually he was allowed in to the dining room to await his flight and have something to eat whilst he waited. As you can see, it has brought a whole new imaginary game play most of it for me!

He loves to ride along on this, but it isn’t particularly stable or easy to roll on soft carpeted areas. When we take this away he will only be allowed to ride on this when on the mezzanine floors. The blue lights act as hand holds to give him some stability, but our plan is to have one person holding his reigns as the other pulls him along.

The wide strap to pull it is a decent length so I don’t have to bend down to pull it along. It holds a key to lock the handles of the case which is essential to stop him opening the thing in an airport lounge. There is a soft seal running around the outer edge and I am guessing that it keeps the rain out. The case is a solid and sturdy plastic which, despite by son trying to use the case as a soap box, has not buckled, cracked or caved in.

It has been an instant hit with our son and well worth getting one as a toy, not just for holidays.

I remembered seeing the pitch on Dragon’s Den for these cases. They were not successful in the Den and it was the Dragon’s loss. They just didn’t get it and it looks like consumers the world over DID get it. These cases are obviously aimed at children and are great fun. They seem to be quite durable if they get banged or knocked, though they are by no means indestructable!! Inside the case (held closed by quite secure clasps) there is a net area which will hold items against the side of the case and stop them falling about. The case is not padded inside, so do not use it to hold anything fragile. It is very brightly coloured – you will not leave it behind anywhere and your child will not let you forget it, anyway!! The wheels will take a child’s weight quite easily and there is no room to get fingers trapped between the wheels and the bodywork of the case. It comes with a leash to use to pull the case. Children will love it as a toy as well as its main use as a suitcase or for storage.
    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLike probably a lot of people I remember seeing these on Dragons Den years ago and thinking wow what a brilliant invention and also thinking and saying to my husband what a million other people have probably thought/said – “Why on earth couldn’t I have thought of them!”. Hat’s off to the inventors as these suitcases truly are fantastic and so well thought out. Little would I have known back then that I would be purchasing two of these in the future for my own little ones as I bought the Tipu the Tiger and Harley the Ladybug for my son and daughter the other year which have had a lot of use since then as both a little suitcase and also as ride-ons and so I know in advance how hard wearing and robust these little cases are. Tipu and Harley are a tiny bit shall we say ‘loved’ now and so when I was offered the new Frank the Fire Engine and Pearl the Princess Carriage Trunki’s I couldn’t resist and I also wanted to see if the new versions are still as well made and happily can confirm that they are.

My son loves this Frank the Fire Engine Trunki and my daughter has also bee whizzing around the house on Pearl the Princess Carriage. The new versions have all the same benefits of the older Trunki suitcases but with bright new designs and I love the glitter sparkle type effect on Frank’s horns and Pearls wheels!

The old version Trunki’s used to come shipped in a Trunki cardboard box that could be re-purposed as a Trunki kennel for the Trunki’s after it had served it’s purpose protecting the Trunki during shipping and I can understand them not doing this anymore to be more environmentally friendly but it was a nice little extra feature to the old ones and I wish they still did it. Nevertheless the Trunki’s come with a nice cardboard wrap around and both of the ones I received arrived in perfect condition with no marks or scrapes. The Frank Trunki came with both a passport and owners manual which is basically a brochure for the other Trunki products but does contain a birth certificate for Frank and sadly Pearl only came with the passport and no owners manual. The passports are a nice little extra touch and another little extra to keep your child amused and build up more excitement about going away with their new Trunki.

The suitcases both come with a luggage strap which also doubles as a pull lead for when your little one is using the suitcase as a ride-on and tey each have an elasticated clothes holder or teddy seat belt inside and a little cloth pocket too. There are also four little secret compartments inside which whilst they won’t fit much they should hold a few small sweets or maybe hair bobbles or very small toys. I’ve attached a couple of pictures of these little hidden triangular secret compartments within the attached photos.

The suitcases measure approx 46cm long by 22cm wide by 30cm high each and I love the dual function of suitcase or ride-on and this definitely helps keep boredom at bay when travelling with your child plus helps little legs rest when needed by sitting on the cases. The suitcases should also be able to be taken as hand luggage on a plane as they have been specifically designed with this in mind. We are going away on a short break soon and my children can’t wait to use their new (and their old) Trunki’s for their toys and clothes and whilst they fit a reasonable amount of clothes and toys they don’t fit everything we usually take with us so yes we will be taking all four cases away on our short break in the next few weeks and I’ll update the photos to include pictures of what I managed to squeeze in each case.

Both suitcases have little horns for your little one to hold on to when using the suitcases as ride-ons and they also have carry handles in the middle in addition to the luggage strap/tow lead. The little locks on either side open with a push of their buttons so they don’t just pop open and there is a little plastic key on the end of the luggage strap to secure the locks if wished. The Trunki’s have soft plastic around the case closure part on one side to soften the blow if any little fingers get trapped and also to provide a decent deal when the cases are closed. The wheels are very strong and glide effortlessly when being ridden or towed.

Frank is in the style of a Fire Engine and my son absolutely adores him. I love the way the Trunki’s are designed with little characters in mind and this also seems to make the cases appeal to little ones immediately along with ride-on function and it being their own little case. I’ve already mentioned but I love the sparkle glitter effect on Franks blue horns which tie in perfectly as emergency siren colours to go alongside Frank’s Fire Engine design.

A brilliant invention that both of my children LOVE and I already know from my children’s old Trunki’s how robust and strong these cases are but they do also come with a five year guarantee. Both my children and I love the new designs and both cases have already been being put through their paces as ride-ons within our home prior to us going away. I have attached some photos and shall attach more showing the case capacity after our short break soon. Fantastic cases and I’d highly recommend them to anyone thinking of this case or any of the other Trunki designs.

Suitcase plus ride-on equals tons of fun and functionality

This is a great suitcase for 3 years upwards. The photos don’t do it justice. It seems well made and strong and most importantly safe. You can’t put a load of stuff in it, but that is really not the point. Kids love to have their own case and one that doubles as a ride on is amazing!

I love this! A very well designed suitcase for little ones, with the fabulous addition of it being a ride on toy. Genius!

The Trunki is spacious, with double sided packing space, ample for a child’s essentials and a couple of toys.

It is constructed out of a strong plastic shell, with design details of horns and handles. I love the fire engine design – very eye catching and unique. Cue loud nee-naw voices around the kitchen!!

The wheels are fixed, but strong. They move well but not too fast…no danger of too much zooming 🙂

A perfect size for 5 years and under. Or just big kids who like to play!

A sturdy travel bag with big appeal for children and parents. This Trunki Ride-on Suitcase is fire-engine red and it’s bright colours and ease of use make it ideal for a weekend away. I’m surprised and delighted with the capacity of this little fellow. It open easily, and closes securely. The ride-on aspect is helped by the pulling cord – made of flat webbing. The Trunk is designed to meet airline carry-on baggage sizes. It’s a big hit!

I, my wife and my kids LOVE these cases. All three of my girls now have Trunki and this is a subtle improvement on the already fantastic original. Basically the opening now has the addition of a button which makes for a slightly smoother experience. These really are a design classic that look great but also work exceptionally well. Very, very useful for bored children in Airports as you can pull them on it with the strap and wheels which has two functions of keeping the amused and meaning it takes less time to walk to the departure gate. Whenever we go on holiday the instruction is the amount of toys they can take must fit in the Trunki and it is exactly the right size for this and they actually enjoy the process of choosing what will fit in there. Great as a buy for either your own kids or as a present for someone else. Each design is very unique and cool looking. Fantastic product from Trunki.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFrank the Fire Engine is a solid, fun looking ride-on suitcase for children from 3 years – and my 3 year old absolutely loves it. The wheels are solid and he glides along on it smoothly. The blue handles at the front (styled to look like the Fire Engine’s blue lights) make an instinctive place for children to hold on to. It comes supplied with a clip on shoulder strap that incorporates a plastic key (to lock the case) and can also be used as a leash to pull your child along.

As a suitcase, Frank the Fire Engine is a relatively small, hand-luggage sized design. It’s made from a solid plastic and comes with a 5 year guarantee – so it should certainly do for my 3 year and his younger brother when he’s old enough. The max sit on weight is 50KG, but I can’t imagine this case is big enough for a child much older than 5 years old to sit on. Inside the case things are pretty basic. There are four tiny “secret” compartments in the corners, a strap and a little pocket and that’s it. Although this suitcase is great fun, there isn’t actually a great deal of room inside for storage — just 18 litres which is less than one of my smaller backpacks. As a result I wouldn’t recommend Frank for longer breaks or for getting the most out of your luggage allowance. It is however a great little case for taking favourite toys on a play day with friends, or a sleepover at Nanna’s house.

An unexpected bonus is that when Frank the Fire Engine isn’t being used as a ride-on suitcase, he also makes a great ride-on storage seat in our playroom. We have a raised play-table and Frank is just the right height for my 3 year old to comfortably perch on. Rather than socks and pyjamas and bed time cuddlies, Frank is currently stuffed to capacity with Take-along-Thomas track.

The suitcase looks very sturdy and is made from quality material, according to the leaflet from the same plastic as the adult suitcases are made. It supposed to last at least 5 years which is very promising. It can take weight of up to 45 kilograms.

It has key (connected to the leash) that locks suitcase in two places on the front and the back.

The Trunki has also 4 mini secret triangle compartments in the corners of the suitcase, on the inside. My daughter hasn’t discovered them yet but I’m not going to spoil the surprise. She will find them in her own time.

My 5 year old daughter loves it, ever since the suitcase arrived she can’t stop packing, unpacking it, riding on it, pulling it by the leash (provided). For this reason I think suitcase like this is a great idea. It is made to last and entertain kids during the travel and also relieve their little tired legs when necessary.

What I don’t like so much about it is the fact that despite the price it is very basic suitcase, plastic box on wheels really.
To be honest I expected some kind of lining inside this box, except for very thin “pocket” for treasures and rubbery straps there is nothing inside.

The leash connects to the loop on the suitcase by a clip… which means it can be replaced with other (more comfortable) leash if needed.

Comparing to the other Trunki products we previously had (the backpacks), the suitcase handles and the leash seems to be of very basic quality, rough in touch, definitely not as comfortable as I would expect from Trunki brand. And for this reason it is 4 not 5 stars.

Not my first experience of these – one grandchild has the Gruffalo,(NB manufacturer says not suitable for under 36 months as small parts – but we ignored and supervise play)
Great in the home as a mobile toy box and toy in itself. Great for stayovers with grandparents. Not tried going on holiday with it but the principle of luggage you can play on is worthy. Is approved as hand luggage for planes (but do check beforehand as regs change or vary among carriers)
Can be towed by willing adult, rode by the child
Well made. Looks good. The choice of designs is wide
18 litre capacity is quite ample. Case can be locked for security. When empty, it is not heavy.

Quite a few years back I was watching ‘Dragon’s Den’ when the designer of this multi-purpose kid’s suitcase was brutally rejected by a bunch of stuck-up wannabe investors. I remember thinking how wonderful his idea was and I couldn’t believe the attitude of one especially nasty ‘investor’ who managed to forcefully break up the prototype to pieces together with the inventor’s confidence. Needless to say the product was rejected and the inventor ridiculed to no end – but who’s laughing now? I still think this is a wonderful idea and I couldn’t be happier that this product has find its way onto the mass market. Last summer I saw quite a few kids riding their ‘Trunkis’ at the airport, so completely preoccupied with their suitcases-cum-toys and giving their parents necessary space and time to deal with checkins and other adult stuff.

This product is so much more than just a suitcase – it’s a toy on wheels too and it can turn a stressful time of ‘getting there’ to yet another game. Most importantly, it is self entertaining for children and requires minimal supervision (apart from keeping an eye on the little ones not to get carried away and roll off). Also, it can encourage children from an early age to learn the importance of keeping their stuff together and being tidy, either while travel or at home. Having their own fun suitcase on wheels that they can ride too – what a marvellous idea.

For those who haven’t seen Trunki in action I must say that the pictures don’t do it justice. On the outside it’s great fun and with such a variety of different designs, the only difficulty will be to find the most suitable one. But it’s not just the clever design – it is made with child’s safety in mind too. Wealth of features (like simple locking mechanism or soft rubber edges to prevent finger injuries) complement things that any child would find fun and exciting – like teddy bear straps and so on. Hard durable plastic casing is more than sturdy enough to support a child’s weight while riding it and there is plenty of space inside for enough wardrobe and some toys to take out on holiday. Or just using it at home for storage or games. It’s a hit with kids and great for parents too, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Very cute and even cuter when your little boy dons the fireman outfit and gear (just like in the photo) and pretends he has his own little fire engine! The fact this also doubles as a bag to pack the weekend essentials in when visiting the relatives makes it even better. Yes, Trunkies have been around a while but the new designs are a breath of fresh air. Very pleased with this.

Only down side is that it seems to be a struggle when using as a ride on on long piled rugs, a slightly rubberised wheel would be better than the current glossy plastic ones, given the price point I don’t see why this isn’t already in place. Also the wheels I cannot see being used too much outdoors as a ride on either.

Points above taken into account it is a great ride on suitcase that also allows a certain amount of role play for toddlers.

It’s not often reality beats a carefully taken promo photo but this fire engine looks the bees knees in reality. The fire engine detailing is bright and looks like a real engine and the blue lights/handles are bright blue and sparkly. The key is attached to the long carry handle strap so not easily lost.
I last had a Tiger Trunki with my son who is now 11 and have really fond memories of wheeling him around the local airport when he was little when the two of us had 4 yearly trips up to his hospital. They are very sturdy and survive baggage handling in my experience but also count as hand luggage and are invaluable as a toy/storage container. They are perhaps big enough for a toddlers long weekend clothes and toys wear. The main function though is the ride on ability which will keep your child sat and occupied in boring times. The wheels don’t go that fast so you have the edge on catching them if they do detour but beware of slopes. You have to pull carefully with direction if you are leading your child with the tow rope – you are not going to transverse miles with this but with corridors and queues you’ll be fine. It rolls on business type floors, your child will not be speeding around your home carpet on it.
I’ve got this for my 5 day old son so he’s not going to be riding on it just yet but it’s a funky, beautiful suitcase which I well expect will be as good as new when he’s old enough to enjoy that aspect. Trunki do offer a repair service for any bits that break and have wonderful customer service.
    A fabulous suitcase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is funky and made from a strong plastic, much like the stuff that Little Tykes vehicles are made of, and apparently made of the same high quality plastic as regular suitcases. It’s satisfyingly solid and sturdy and I felt entirely happy letting my 4yo niece and 3yo nephew use this, ride on it and play on it.

    Selling points:

    Sturdy, solid and feels safe.
The wheels don’t damage the floor (but they don’t do too well over deep pile carpets).
It comes with a 5yr guarantee, as long as you register the item online and can show proof of purchase. Additionally, there’s a 20% discount on offer, covering items on the website, other than suitcases and sale items.
There’s no specific age range on this, so depending on a child’s size when this is bought, it should last until he/she reaches 50kg in weight.
Kids hold onto the horns whilst being tugged behind, so they sit securely.
Handles are sturdy, wide enough not to curl up into a cord type of handle, and therefore won’t injure hands, and they also won’t fray easily.
Key attached to the tow strap, so no chance of losing it.
Both kids loved playing with Pearl the Princess and Frankie the Fire Engine.

Loses a * as it’s a little small for the price, especially when you can get a full cabin size case for the price.

Let me be a little negative about this suitcase…..its not really a suitcase in the adult sense. Don’t buy this thinking it will hold everything you need for a 2 week holiday. Its about big enough for a few bits and pieces and a long weekend at the Grandparents. So as long as you know this, I am happy to Highly Recommend this item. It is well made, the wheels on the underside are strong and rotate well, its stable when rolling and its fun to use, as it looks like Fire Engine.

Overall this is a nice item and is far better made than many other cartoon inspired cases, which hardly last one trip on an airline. Highly Recommended.

I’m very impressed with our Trunki. The design, build and quality are very good indeed. It is clear that the designers of this product have given it a lot of careful thought, from the rubberised trim to stop little fingers getting snagged, to the lockable catches to stop it accidently being opened, to the little secret compartments in the corners, to the teddy bear seatbelt to stop clothes (and teddies) falling around in the case.

Although primarily designed as a ride-on pull-along case, it’s also great as a storage box, and is currently our children’s favourite toy.

All the parts seem strong and well made. According to the manual the Tunki has a max sit-on weight of 50 kg, is hand luggage approved, and comes with a five year guarantee.

The pulling strap can also be used as a shoulder strap and holds the simple, but strong, locking key — so no chance of accidently loosing this.

I’ve towed my 3 year old and 5 year old, and each is comfortable sitting on it and enjoy the experience — the lazy so and so’s.

    Love it.

Good sturdy, wheeled suitcase for taking your kids clothes. It’s solidly made and the big thing is you can use it to pull your child along.

My too were pretty exceited about this, but are almost treating it as a toy and not a suitcase! Not desperately cheap, but looks like it’ll last long enough.

    Great!

how could you not like this hand luggage case? Its just awesome! If your little one like fire engines then this is the case for you. Plenty of space inside for toys, snacks and entertainment, there is an elastic strap across one side (teddys seatbelt!) to keep things in place, a long pouch inside to put small things in, a strap so you can tow tired little ones sitting on it. The towing strap also has a ‘key’ attached that locks the case closed at both sides. You can get other accessories to attach to the case, such as a saddle, stickers and holder.
It has a 5 year guarentee so is obviously well made and sturdy. All in all you wouldnt regret buying this helpful hand luggage!
