I had bought this pair about 14 months ago. The sound quality is excellent, the ear muffs nice and comfy, the mic didn’t pick up most noises beyond my voice and it was quite durable. I was admittedly clumsy and dropped it to the floor maybe a dozen or so times and it’s only about 14 months of daily use and occasional abuse did it finally snap and break. Not at all mad, I’m impressed with how lo g it actually lasted. If you can get them on sale I’d say get them immediately lol.

Sound quality and battery life are excellent, especially given the price. One thing I will say is that the mic is quite poor quality in the sense that it seems really flimsy and fragile

Excellent set, amazing sound, loads of options to tweak the sound setting through the turtle beach software, battery life is good, in reality I get about 20-25 hours, it charges pretty quick and you can change while using it as well, the range is pretty impressive too. Highly recommend them for any gamer.

Just got my headset a couple of days ago and they are so comfortable, don’t squeeze my head when wearing my glasses, they have weight and I can feel the weight in my hands but not when I am wearing them. Also these were the easiest wireless headset I ever setup on my PC.
The sound is so crisp and clear so when I am kicked back playing my favorite game of Skyrim I am able to hear just about everything and the best part is when I activate Super Hearing it’s like having a Cheat Mod that lets me hear everything in the game the game just burst into life; it was so unexpected so now I use them for movies, YouTube, and Music. My son who is a big PS4 fan would love these, good thing he doesn’t know they are compatible or I would never find them.

    Comfortable

Very good software and speaker/mic sound quality. Isolation is good (cant hear much external noise due to good ear pads) Particularly good for glasses wearers as you can adjust a channel in the ear pads for them.
They are very comfortable but do still feel slightly heavier the my old set, but as this is probably due to high quality build materials so I can live with it.

    Quality gaming headse

he headset sounds amazing, it in via my DAC up usb port, the clarity is very good and the customizability is a lot to chose from, they would be comfy and cool on my ears if they were optimized for a slightly bigger ear as mine are too big and are squashed which causes my ears to be pushed towards the surface of the headphone, rubbing my ears.

I have always been a Turtle Beach guy and these headphones did not disappoint. They include one of my favorite features among the companies certain products, which is the super human hearing. This is really helpful in games like Rainbow Six Siege where sound is key. The battery last a very long time, to the point where when I do run low on power it is because I haven’t charged them in a few days and forgot to. They are very comfy and even have a special feature to help people with glasses, which is very effective at making the headphones comfy when wearing glasses. They can become a little uncomfortable on the ears after wear them for many hours, but I really only notice this after probably 4-6 plus hours of having them on with no extended breaks. Overall I highly recommend them to any looking for good headphones.

I previously owned the Turtle Beach Stealth 450 but the plastic size adjustment broke on both sides after a year.
This headset feels and looks a lot stronger.
    Sound is great.
    Cons:
    – It’s a bit heavy for me. (my neck hurst after a while)
    – I have glasses and even after adjusting the special earpiece it still pushes my glasses into my head behind my ear. (only on the left side though).

I have been looking for a headset to replace my old Turtle Beach Stealth 500X for a while now. I tried several and returned them after a couple days. Finally, the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas arrived and it was exactly what I was looking for. A comfortable headset you can wear for hours with great sound and easy controls. The foam, noise cancelling ear pads are perfect and the control studio software can give you whatever sound you prefer for whatever you are doing. These are designed for gaming but I use it primarily for listening to music and for work meetings and I love it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA very disappointed birthday boy bought as a 13th birthday gift to use with Xbox but turned out they weren’t wireless with Xbox only capable with Windows 10 wireless. Advertised as a wireless headset for Xbox only to discovered while trying to connect that they aren’t wireless in conjunction with Xbox or Nintendo. This is only stated on the back of the box in very small print. Amazon were very understanding and insisted they would change the description to avoid other buys being mislead.

Of what I saw of this Tirtle beach headset was impressive very comfortable by all accounts and had excellent reviews just disappointingly unsuitable to use wireless in conjunction with Xbox….come on Turtle Beach what you playing at???
Complained and returned for an exchanged for a set of Turtle beach 700 wireless, at last I have one happy son!

A fantastic set. Super comfortable, with excellent sound quality (both mic’ and ‘phones), and a long battery life. The lightweight design means the cups press over your ear and gently sit across the top of your head, without a dull weight or horrid pressing against the ears like other brands and models I’ve used in the past. Obviously can be worn anytime, but have come in super useful for playing in the late evenings and night when the rest of the household is asleep.

Love these Elite Atlas Aero’s. Wireless headsets are the future for gaming and Turtle Beach has a great set at a good price. My only issue is after wearing them while streaming and gaming for a few hours the ear cup foam compresses to much and starts to hurt a little. In fairness it happens after maybe 5 hours so for the average user this will not be an issue at all.

P.S. The 3D spacial sound is amazing for hearing sound direction above and below as well as left and right.

Very nice headset, the sound is amazing and it also is kinda comfortable on the head, only issue is that I have with it, I don’t know if it’s only me but after some time the ears hurt from the pressure, ear touches the sound box and it’s kinda hard, I got different turtle beach headsets and I must say the others have a bit more ear cushion. But it’s not a big problem since you can just put from another turtle beach the cushions on this one.

The headset itself feels really sturdy! The hinges that the ear pieces swivel on feel strong, and the metal band on top feels very high quality!
My only complaint is that it can be pretty annoying to turn on. It only turns on once you let go of the power button, so you can’t just hold it until it turns on. And it takes anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds of holding to power on. Sometimes, I have to hold it for 15 seconds, let go, then try again for differing times. If you hold too long, it’ll go into pairing mode though. It always turns off after just pressing the power button while on though.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are absolutely incredible headphones. Turtle Beach has never really been my go-to, but these are absolutely amazing.

Comfort and fit is excellent. These aren’t perfect for the biggest of heads, and I had to break them in a bit, but the earcups are amazingly comfortable and stay cool for a ather long time and the headband gives nice resistance.

Sound quality is excellent. 50mm Neodym drivers give nice punch, but the software enhancements are where it’s at. Turtle Beach has outdone themselves with digitally enhancing the sound quality. Superhuman Hearing is legit – it’s a powerhouse amplifier and makes footsteps obvious. The other digital enhancements are great, and listening to music is a joy on these.

Battery life is very good. TB has promised 30 hours, but I haven’t gotten an official time. I’ve never had an issue with a long play session. Range is decent. You won’t be blown away, but you can go get a drink while still listening.

The headphones fold up nicely, the mic is detachable, there’s a place to store the receiver in the right earcup. I’d probably get a hardcase for travel though. Also, there’s a glasses feature based on a little plastic nub that broke 0.005 seconds after I started trying to use it.

Still, 4.8/5 – price, value, quality, use, comfort – these are an absolute monster, and a new standard for Hyper X Cloud Flights, the mid-range Astros, Corsair Voids, and SteelSeries to chase.

I purchased this to replace my Turtle Beach Stealth 450, which is a headset that I’ve used and loved for years.

Comfort – while this headset is a good bit heavier than the 450, it feels much more durable. And the Aero has a more comfortable fit over the years.

Sound quality – I loved the sound quality of the 450, but the Aero has blown away the sound on the 450. When you log into voice chat in Discord, it does lower the overall sound to make it easier to hear the people in voice chat which is great that you don’t have to make sound setting changes manually.

Wireless range – the 450 has slightly longer range with bluetooth. I can go up two floors in my house with minimal breakup on the 450, but on the 2nd floor up, you have a lot more breakup on the Aero.

Mic – both mics are removable and the arm is flexible. Its easier to put the 450’s Mic in without having to take the headset off to look for the hole.

USB – both headsets come up with a way too short micro USB cable for charging, if you order this, get another micro USB cable for charging so that you can ear it and charge it at the same time.

Controls – I prefer the stealth’s power button (a side button on the headset) over the Aero’s which is an button. But overall, the Aero’s other controls have a better feel to them.

Sound quality – both have excellent quality, the Aero seems to pick up less random outside noise though.

Overall, if you’re looking for a mic, the aero is a great choice and its reasonably priced.

This headset checks almost all my boxes: it is super comfortable, has the mic loopback so you can hear yourself, and is wireless. However, it won’t connect to your phone.

13 years ago, every headset had Bluetooth that could connect to your XBOX and phone at same time. Between matches, I could reach up, click a button, order a pizza, and then switch back to the game sound—it was awesome! But nowadays, I can’t seem to find that feature anywhere. How does such a cool feature go overlooked or unwanted? Why isn’t that in more demand? Anyhow, other than that, awesome product!

This review was provided by Thomas Diment, my 14 year old son.

The Turtle Beach Atlas Aero’s are a very good pair of gaming headphones. With their powerful surround sound and 3D sound module they make quite a difference. Whether you’re battling it out on the battlefield or playing an RPG (role play game), these headphones are worth your money.
The Elite Atlas Aero’s are also great for casual play, taking advantage of the option to use a mic with your friends. I had issues using the mic on PS4 as I could not get it to work when speaking to my friends. However, they work perfectly fine on PC and I have been using them on PC ever since.
While the Elite Atlas Aero’s have amazing surround sound and also the 3D sound module, the actual pure sound quality is not the best. It is very clear and it does the job, but I wouldn’t recommend them as a pair of stereo headphones for musicians. I am a guitarist, who like many musicians has a few pairs of headphones. They do not quite match the level of sound quality as a few cheaper pairs of headphones, although the quality of the surround sound and the depth of the sound, does to some extent make up for their deficiencies.
I personally very much like the Elite Atlas Aero’s and I think they are a great buy, apart from the minor disadvantages mentioned. They are very much one of the best pairs of gaming headphones I have ever used, and are well worth the money.

Have been using this for gaming, mainly Overwatch.

Comfort level – is fine for my head, no issues even over longish periods over several hours. The headset is on the heavy, rather than light, side – but given its wireless that’s not entirely unexpected.

Sound quality – very good for gaming. I tend not to use for general music listening as I use speakers connected to my amp. But for immersion in gaming, I have no complaints.

Wireless – this is my first wireless headset and I’ve been pleased with it as you can get up and have a bit more flexibility. I use the dongle that comes with the set.

Mic – is OK. Friends report they hear me fine but perhaps not as good as some other headsets.

Build quality – seems OK but it’s not getting heavy use as I’m not a heavy gamer. Hopefully they will stand the test of time.

Price – seems on the high side relative to similar products on the market but the brand is a good one (compared to lots of the generic ones out there).

Based on my usage to date – happy to recommend.

    UPDATE!
After speaking to customer service, it turns out I just had to switch my USB receiver into a different USB control. Not a different port in the same area, but a different source all together. In my case, this meant instead of plugging it into one of the BACK ports, I had to plug it into the FRONT ports. Basically, from what support described, it sounds like the USB ports on the back of my PC were getting ‘overloaded’ from having too many other USB devices plugged in. This explains why my last headset was having the same problem. Now after having used the headset for a few weeks, after switching the USB receiver to the front, it works perfectly fine. I love this headset! Thanks support!

    See my original review below:

This is the second Turtle Beach I have owned, and this one has the same problem as my last one. At random times, the sound will start to sound like static. Sometimes, it get’s so bad, that the sound will completely drop out, and it will continue to cut in and out for a while. This is incredibly frustrating because it’s unpredictable. When there’s no interference, it works great and it sounds awesome. But I don’t know if this is a Turtle Beach problem, or a problem in my home. It’s not like we have an abnormal number of wireless devices. 2 Phones, 3-4 tablets, a wifi printer.

Other than that they are great. I LOVE the cooling gel omg. That was the selling point for me honestly. They are super comfy and I can go hours without any discomfort. But that interference…it’s just such a pain and I wish I could figure out how to stop it.

I’d be interested to know if anyone else has the same problem…

Unlike some other reviewers, I did not have any trouble connecting the headset to my laptop. The sound quality is great, this is by far the best headset I have used, as I always buy the cheapest ones. The noise cancelling is my favourite feature, as it really blocks out any background buzz, be it construction works outside the flat or a crying baby next doors. I sometimes use the headset for work calls at home and for that purpose the microphone has been adequate. Although the headset is good quality, Im not sure if you get your money’s worth here for 129.99.

This is a good quality headset, ideally suited for gaming. It’s reasonably comfortable and the sound quality is perfectly fine as far as I’m concerned. Although I have set-up Turtle Beach’s Control Studio on my machine, generally I have preferred to not mess around with the sound and it has been fine as a result. The software is comprehensive however, and if you do want to fine tune your audio experience there is plenty there to get your teeth into.

To wear, the headset is quite heavy and after an hour or so I haven’t been too sad to take it off. The comfort is quite good however and the ProSpecs technology has caused me quite a laugh as I have never had trouble with headphones comfort and my glasses, but it’s nice that Turtle Beach have come up with a cool name for accomodating the things.

The battery performance is stellar. Out of the box I confess I didn’t charge the headset but I didn’t need to worry, it lasted over 12 hours by my estimation and has had one charge since. The wireless performance is good, the sound occasionally drops but microphone performance is pretty strong with good range, you don’t need to eat the mic to be heard.

The on-board controls are dials, and I’m not a big fan of these as a rule. Turtle Beach love them though so I wasn’t shocked they turned up in the Elite Atlas Aero. They work pretty well but for a headset at this price point I would prefer buttons and something a bit more definite than nudging a dial around to get the audio/chat balance just right.

For the money, these are towards the higher end of PC headphones and to be fair, it mostly shows. The build quality and design is good and the performance is prefectly fine. They are a bit heavy and some of the controls are too fiddly but are worth a look if you want to get a good headset for your PC gaming.

I got these for my other half who is something of a gamer from time to time, his old headset apparently wasn’t working properly.

Upon first glance these appear well made and look comfortable with thick padding on the earcups and on the headband. The microphone is removable for those times when you don’t need to chat and it just gets in the way. Sound wise they sound pretty good with a good level of bass. There was a slight problem with the mic at times, not quite sure what it was or if the issue was our end or someone elses, but there were a few quiet spots where we couldn’t be heard.

They fold up for storage, ideal for travelling or for sticking in a drawer when not in use. Plus they also come with a cable so that you can connect to games consoles, etc. that aren’t supported wirelessly.

As an avid PC gamer, I have tried a lot of gaming headsets over the years. Recently however I have not come across many Turtle Beach products — so I was very interested to try their new Elite Atlas Aero wireless headset. A couple of years ago I used one of their midrange PS4 variants and after trying it again before writing this review, the Atlas Aero blows it out of the water. But all is not perfect.

The build of the Atlas Aero feels quite solid. There are some creaks from the headband when manipulating the headset, but nothing can be heard when the headset is in use. The earcups feel quite soft to touch, but the squeeze from the headset makes them feel quite hard and slightly uncomfortable for longer gaming sessions. Having said that, I have never had any issues with the headset creeping forward over my head when in use. Due to the strong clamp, they stay in place unless physically moved themselves. The headband is easy to adjust and offers good adjustability for a range of head sizes. Set-up is easy, plug in and play with Windows 10. Custom firmware is available online from Turtle Beach alongside a control and sound customisation application named Turtle Beach Control Studio.

Sound quality is average. I have heard better for a lower price and I had to do some customising to make the headset sound better for music. Firstly, disabling Turtle Beach ‘signature sound’ using Control Studio. This makes music sound flat and the same for in-game sounds. The 3D audio feature is also okay but not as good as Dolby Atmos for Headphones which is my favourite digital signal processing tool. Enabling this, and disabling Turtle Beach EQ, makes the headphones sound better with decent bass. Music still lacks a bit of definition, but for gaming I haven’t experienced any issues. In game explosions are immersive and in FPS games, the direction of bullets can be heard quite clearly. For gaming alone the Atlas Aero is good.

The microphone quality has attracted some complaints from my regular gaming friends, who could instantly tell that my headset had changed upon switching to the Atlas Aero. The sound quality was distant and tinny compared to my usual headset, albeit still clear. Chances are that it would be fine unless you are expecting crystal clear audio. I do like that the microphone is removable (connects via 2.5mm jack) and offers good adjustability. Noise rejection also worked okay, and keystrokes were barely audible when I tested the headset with a sound recording application.

I appreciated the inclusion of a standard 3.5mm audio jack with the headset. This allowed me to connect it to my Rift S VR headset directly and use it during VR gaming sessions quite comfortably. It fits perfectly under the Rift S’ headband. This option also allows for the Atlas Aero to be connected to a PS4 controller for audio when console gaming.

In conclusion, the Atlas Aero is a good headset. Sound is subjective, and I’m sure there are many people who appreciate the custom EQ settings that Control Studio offers. As a bit of an audiophile it just didn’t cut the mustard for me, especially for music. In game, the headset worked just fine. The microphone quality isn’t great but this is the same for many wireless headsets that rely on limited wireless bandwidth to transmit both audio and microphone inputs. Whether you should buy this headset depends on what your use case is going to be. For gaming alone — it is decent. For mixed gaming/entertainment use, there are better alternatives available in the crowded gaming headset market.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero Wireless Gaming Headset is aimed at the more serious gamer and it’s the best one currently Turtle Beach produce may I add the most expensive from the range. The best for PC/laptops.

The sound quality is noticeably better over my conventional gaming headset, you are immersed in the game, it is a 3D experience. The over-ear headsets are very comfortable, with plush memory foam and adjustable earcups. After hours of playing, your head and ears are as fresh as your first put the headsets on.

The mic piece is removable and when is use it is very useful when playing multi-user games. I don’t notice a difference from my conventional headset. It’s not only for PC gaming, listen to music and hear video movies/films etc. The experience is mindblowing.

I have noticed the quality with this headset, it is more premium than my other headsets.

There are many adjustments you can do via the app, controls and setups. Setups include EQ and access to the Waves NX 3D Audio.

Overall i like the headset, its extremely comfortable, although a little bulky if rather light and combined with the software the sound is excellent. I have only had a few issues regarding connectivity and a simple system restart solved this. The buttons are easily accessible and easy to navigate, an added bonus is being able to change the action of the dials so its not just volume, and the mic is very clear and of great quality. I would give 5 stars if i hadnt had some issues with connection.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy first headset was a Logitech 433 corded set. It worked well, but dealing with the cord was a pain. I decided to go wireless.

When reviewing wireless headsets the were a few that cost hundreds of dollars and a bunch that were cheap that I didn’t think would be very good. I don’t have a lot of cash to spend, so I picked up a refurbished Logitech 933. Big mistake. It was horrible. The sound was bad, the microphone was worse, and the left speaker keeps going out and I have to smack the thing to get it to play sound again – a total waste of money.

I saw the Elite Atlas Aero for $120 here on Amazon and decided to give it a try. All the really good reviews on Youtube are spot on. This thing rocks. It installed perfectly the first time. Others have had trouble with getting the software to work on their Windows PC, but my install was flawless. The firmware updates were a snap, also.

The sound is terrific. The microphone is perfect. The battery life is great. It just works. I love it. The only negative thing I can say is that it is a little tight on my head and wearing it for long gaming sessions will let me feel it. Your mileage may vary on that – we’re all different sizes.

For under $150, this is a fantastic piece of equipment.

Ordered the wireless version and received the wired version. I was bummed out as I was really looking forward to having my first wireless headphones.

As upset as I am, I have used the wired version while waiting on my replacement and these were very nice! Aside from the wire, the headset is great quality. Not made from the cheap plastic that most headphones are made from which always end up breaking. Sound quality is very good. I wish they were a little bit louder but still, these sound great.
The ear cushions are very soft and fit perfectly on my head without that exhaustive squeeze some headphones have.

All in all, i would be very happy if I ordered the wired version. Can not wait for my wireless ones to show up!

Update 4/21/2020: From 4 stars to 5 stars – So I have been using the wireless aero headset for a while now and they have held up great! The ears still feel very secure after multiple gaming sessions and a few rage headset pull offs every one in a while
Sound is great and soft gel on the ear cushions really do wonders doing long gaming sessions. I very much recommend this product. Good job Turtle Beach!

Turtle Beach seem to have a good reputation for quality headsets and this headset reflects that.
The headset itself feels good quality and sturdy. You can connect the headset via usb which is what I used and that seemed to work really well.
The headset is comfortable to wear for a range of head sizes. Including wearing glasses – it’s still comfortable.
The microphone sound seems to be of reasonable quality and the sound in the headset itself is also relatively good. The mic also works for teamspeak but I found it was a little on the quiet side.
Overall I would recommend this headset for a range of ages, Head sizes and gaming use.

I’ve heard great things about Turtle Beach gaming headsets so we were looking forward to testing these out. The headset is chunky and feels solid. You can attach it using a cord or via a USB port, the USB port worked really well and connected quickly, there was no noticeable lag when using it. One of the best features is that you can store the USB connector in the headset which I love because it stops it from getting lost which seems to be what normally happens in my house. The headset is comfortable on your head, we tried it on various different sizes and we all felt comfortable, including those with glasses. The integrated microphone is great and the sound seems to be clear from it. The sound from the headphones is pretty good, not quite as good as I had hoped but it is decent enough and only the pickiest person will find fault with it. This headset isn’t cheap but using it I can see why, it is a quality headset that does its job really well.

I’ve tested a lot of headphones but I have to admit, I’m not a gamer or an audiophile. I’m more interested in testing the quality, functionality and usability.

The packaging of these headphones is excellent. They come in a decent retail box with the headphones held in place with foam rubber and a small box containing all the leads and accessories. There is a USB dongle, a USB charge lead, an audio lead, a detachable microphone and the usual paperwork.

There is no Bluetooth with this set. Connections are either direct using audio jack lead or wirelessly via the USB dongle. Bluetooth is not the best anyway as it offers too much lag for gaming or communication use. The USB dongle supplied offers little to no such lag.

The headphones are pretty comfortable to wear but perhaps a touch heavy. The design is over the ear rather than on the ear. This is generally a better option for using for long periods. The cups are nicely padded.

Having a plugin microphone is a nice feature as you don’t always need a microphone and it can get in the way when not required. The microphone is quite sensitive and has its own volume control to control how much of your voice is fed back to the earpieces. There is a quick mute button as well.

The sound quality is good but not great. It lacks enough punch when playing music. Not really a problem when playing games and that’s what they are designed for. However, if you’re looking for music use then it may be better to look elsewhere. I am being hypercritical here as these headphones are a lot cheaper than many, I’m comparing them with.

Overall, these are good value gaming headphones in my opinion.

Superb quality, great presentation, very well-made, amazing sound quality, great mic sound with no interference. To get the best out of the headset, do download the software that it comes with, you can enhance various sounds and it truly provides you with a 360 real surround sound – you feel your presence in the game. My hubby can’t stop raving about it…I think I’ll forget what he looks like soon, as he seems to be lost for the world of the living in this reality.

The latest enhanced gaming experience guaranteed from the lead brand!

  59. MarshalHildreth says:

OK, not quite perfect. There are a couple of things I don’t like about this headset. The microphone is perfectly serviceable, but definitely communication rather than broadcast quality. The earphones have a quiet but noticeable hiss when there’s nothing playing – this comes from the microphone circuit, and disappears if you mute the microphone. The accompanying Control Studio software sometimes decides it wants to update the firmware on the headset, and when it does it deletes all your custom settings.

Other than those three things, it’s hard to fault the headphones. The sprung headband, which is slung beneath the sprung steel that connects the earpieces together, is probaby the most comfortable I’ve ever come across, either in gaming or in hi-fi. Each earphone slides up and down and can pivot in all directions to make a comfortable fit. The over-ear pads are soft and comfortable, with plenty of soft foam filling. The backs of the cans are hard plastic, with all the controls accessible using your left thumb. And the speakers are lovely large things, with only a thin metal mesh covering them, so the sound is not obstructed at all.

The controls are the on/off button, the master volume thumbwheel, another thumbwheel which by default lats you set the volume for your voice in your own ears (so you can hear what other players are hearing), but is configurable to other purposes, and a configurable button which by default gives you “superhuman hearing”. You can change it to a number of other purposes, including a “master mute”. There’s also a 3.5 mm jack for the supplied cable for using the headset with your phone. If you just want to listen to music, the microphone detaches easily. The wireless connection is handled by a little USB dongle that just works.

The default headphone sound is impressive. It’s not quite hi-fi, but it’s not far off – great for watching films or listening to music. The default settings are also great for playing games, but if you want to adjust the settings, the Turtle Beach Control Studio software lets you configure keyboard shortcusts to adjust settings, or you can adjust the settings directly within the app, on the Dashboard page. These settings include things like setting the mix between game sounds and the team chat, setting noise gating on the microphone and setting 3D audio, a “spatializer” and “superhuman hearing”, all of which presumably are intended to give you an advantage in multiplayer FPS. You can save the game and global presets separately.

There’s also a separate page with a ten-band equaliser for Game, Chat and your microphone. You can record and play back your voice here, to test how the mike sounds. My inclination is to leave well alone: this headset sounds great, and there’s already excellent spatial positioning without having to augment it in software.

As far as I’m concerned, the software is the icing on the cake. The headset is an excellent design (and I speak as someone who has worked through a number of rather good Senheiser gaming headsets and a none-too-shabby Logitech wireless headset as well), comfortable to wear and sounding just fabulous.

This is my new favourite headset.

    Pros:
    Nice build quality
Fits wellover glasses even without their ‘glasses friendly’ channels
    Very Comfortable
    Connects well
Superhuman hearing mode is great for footsteps etc
    Mic is good very clear

    Cons:
At this price on a new product, I would have liked USB-C charging – however, battery life is good once it is charged I got approx 24 hours.
Putting the Mic and the ear volume adjustment right next to each other on the left ear cup probably wasn’t the best decision.
The left ear cup is pretty crowded and I have quite small fingers

    Absolutely amazing set of headphones.

First of all, these are probably the heaviest set I’ve tried to date, and admittedly I do get a sore neck easily because of chronic pain so I found I needed to use a memory foam neck pillow for support with these. I also found I had to balance the right side ear-hole area a bit over my scaffold (tip of ear) piercing as it didn’t half irritate the piercing the first wear (didn’t realise until took them off).

Set up is quite straight forward – there’s a little USB transmitter that you put into the laptop/pc and then go through your settings and select the elite atlas set as your “default” sound (don’t worry about doing this, when the transmitter is unplugged, your system goes back to default onboard sound without any extra clicking). If you don’t have an extra USB port, it does have a wire for it. This is wireless so obviously, it will need charged from time to time. There’s a USB lead to charge it and once it’s charged, you get a good amount of play time. Not having a wire gives a nice sense of movement if you need to move a lot but don’t like restriction of wires.

The sound quality seemed a bit empty to me at first until I kicked up “Skyrim” (I don’t play FPS games on pc). I’d have my character roaming through areas with waterfalls, it was almost as if I could feel the wind, it was so strong against my ears, almost like it sounds in real life. Things like distant birds and growls were so much more apparent, the sound of cave water dripping, the sound of the dragons roars. What astounded me a lot was how I could suddenly hear the difference in ground textures. I could now hear when my character was walking on snow, a soft distinct crunch to it unlike the walking on grass or paths – the sounds of feet on wooden boards It’s so subtle but it brought the immersion forward and made me feel like I was playing for the first time, feeling the game around me in a completely different way.

Just standing in game and listening to the environment is astounding, hearing the rising of the wind rumbling by, the waterfall rushing near, the swelling of music and depth in voices. Standing near a doorway in a mine and hearing the wind outside and get more distant the further in you go. Hearing dust and debris gently raining from cave ceilings (making it feel more like the area was dangerous). The echo of a mining pick, as if you can feel it bouncing off the nearby walls…the rumbling of caves, adding that really dark creepy atmosphere. It just completely changes this game for me. Even how differences voices change on NPCs, giving a completely different sense of space in the game areas (large rooms, etc).

I haven’t tried the mic yet as I’m quite shy and honestly I don’t tend to play the kind of games where microphones are required, although a lot of people will be glad to know the mic can be removed and plugged in for when you want to use it so it is not always there in the way.

They don’t completely cancel out noise but they do mute out most of it. They do however make you feel a wee bit hot with their weight and size. Comfort level is there though, I didn’t feel uncomfortable at the ears (although it takes getting used to the weight).

The left side has two dials which you can play with to get the right sound depth you want. I’m still fiddling with them trying to get the right balance.

I really do love how this just changes the games for me, it brings new immersion and makes me feel more lost in the worlds I’m in. O can understand why these are so premium. A serious gamer will absolutely adore these.

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero headset isn’t cheap, but it really is an excellent product. Before using it is advisable to download the software suite, and any updates. This allows access to the full range of features. There is an easy to follow Quick Start Guide enclosed that makes this really simple. Once set up, wireless connection is instant, and stable.
For the purposes of this review I have tested the headset with music and gaming.
I have listened to a number of music genres, and I was really impressed by the sound quality, particularly the bass. I think all but the most discerning audiophiles will have little to complain about.
As a gaming headset they are superb. The experience is really immersive, and the sound quality is brilliant. The drop down microphone is crystal clear too, and I haven’t experienced any of the buzzing, crackling, and static that others have reported.
The headset is really comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and battery life is well in excess of 24 hours.
If you are really into gaming this is a great choice, and if you also like listening to your music, they make even more sense. Build quality is good, rather than exceptional. I highly recommend them nonetheless.

Fit is really nice and flexible for many head sizes and positions. Definitely has the look of a premium headset. Chat and Media volume controls on the headset are very convenient. Sound is what you’d expect from Turtle Beach: Very Good. The software which accompanies the product really unlocks the potential. Substantial configuration and customization so you hear exactly what you want to hear in the game you’re playing. If you’re looking for a premium differentiating headset then you can’t go wrong with the Elite Atlas Aero.

Some headphones are neither here nor there, As finding ones which have good quality sound can be tricky. This gaming headset has crystal clear sounds with good definition and a booming bass to match. This is ideal for gamers who want a fully immersive experience without loosing sound quality. The headphones have a strong Bluetooth link, With no issues with disconnections.

So far this has really added to my gaming experience, Giving me clarity and bass to make my gaming more realistic. It has some cool features such as a mic that can be turned up or down so there are no problems with muffled sounds or echoes. It lasts around 29+ hours for me before needed another recharge, which is adequate.

First up, these are ludicrously comfortable headphones. I literally put them on my head and began to wonder how they’ve done it – I can’t stress the comfort aspect enough. Sound is very good too, though not quite as bowled-over good. Think 4.5/5 on this front. My only gripe is that, while the headset is wireless (optionally), it’s NOT a standard bluetooth connection, but an included USB adapter that you plug into your PC/laptop. Obviously, this means it’s not suitable for people wanting to use the headset on their phones, though I doubt this would be the primary use for anyone who bought them. It’s not really an issue for me, but it means a nice-to-have is gone (and I have to wonder why TB went down this route; surely including Bluetooth connectivity would be less effort than engineering a receiver as a separate unit).

  68. Spooky Vegan says:

The headset is wireless, I noticed no delay between the game audio and the screen. The charge on average I found lasted around 25-30 hours depending on whether I left the headset AFK.

The sound quality was impressive, maybe not as high quality as I expected but for this price, It is pretty good.

The build quality was also impressive, With a metal and plastic mix, it looks good and feels comfortable to wear from long periods of time.

The ear muffs are comfortable, i personally prefer leather than the spongey fabric but its still comfortable to wear.

The mic quality is average meaning its not great, While its not worse than the average wireless mic, The average is still bad. Just don’t expect anything speical there.

Overall, The headset is comfortable and stylish, The build quality is great, the micrphone is lacking. But I would still reocmmend, as a very strong option into the wireless headset market at a competitive price for this tech.

This headset isn’t cheap, but is a little on the cheap side looks and feel-wise. Certainly no issues with it working on either my laptop or desktop PC’s. Crisp clear sound if a little on the bass side. Quite comfortable over extended use with good noise cancelling. My son does report some crackling from the microphone though it’s not been apparent to me. Battery life has so far lived up to the 30 hour claim which is good.

They are OK generally but I feel with the build quality, they may not last too long.

I’ll get straight to it with a comparison review.

I’ll compare the Atlas Aero vs an audiophile headset (Sennheiser HD25), and against my current gaming headphones; a Razer Kraken, which beat pretty much all other gaming headphones I’ve owned before it (mostly Logitech, but also some older Turtle Beach models such as the 420X). So the Kraken is the one to beat for gaming in my book.

    First up; audiophile music.
I listened to Beethoven’s Sonata Number 14. That’s a piano piece, which gaming headphones are usually absolutely awful with; if you don’t have the mids, forget it. So why test vs Beethoven? Battlefield-one and many other games (especially RPG) use a classical themed soundtrack. A quality audiophile response is important even for gaming!

So the Senny comes out top (no surprise there!), but the Atlas isn’t that far behind and still very listenable although it doesn’t sound as bright as the Senny. The kraken sounds like most gaming headphones in this test; no mids and bass heavy, so a hollow and somewhat dull sound.

    Next up; video-game-centric music.
I listened to a few game soundtracks on Spotify; WipeOut and Ruiner. WipeOut is beat-heavy club music, whereas Ruiner is hardcore darkwave industrial. The Sennys hold up with both very well (they have an excellent deep bass that goes down *very* low), but the Aero keeps up well. The Kraken is also good but a little muffled in the highs.

Finally, games; I played Borderlands 3 and Steel Division 2.
Borderlands is your modern FPS; lots of gunfire and shouting. Steel Division is a World war 2 strategy game, with lots of deep explosions and an orchestral soundtrack.

This is where we finally see why audiophile headsets don’t make good gaming cans; the directional stereo is just not there. You are at a definite disadvantage in being able to locate an enemy by the sound they make. You also lose immersion via a lack of directional ambient sound.

The Atlas really comes into its own here, and is the best out of the three. Perhaps a little tinny for some out of the box, but download Turtle beach Control Studio and set the bass up on both ‘Game bass boost’ and the graphic equalizer and you are good.
The Razer Kraken is also good here, and usually matches the Atlas, although it gains some points because it doesn’t need any digital manipulation to sound bassy; it is bassy because of its physical construction and speakers.

So, out of the Aero and Kraken, which is the best for pure gaming?

Both beat all the Logitechs I have owned.
Both sound great in games, but the Aero also sounds good with music, and the Kraken is more naturally bassy out the box (although the Aero can match it with a bit of digital processing).
The Kraken feels lighter on your head. The Aero is tighter, but that it is because it wants to muffle out the ambient sound by sitting flush on your ears.
The kraken is wired, but also makes no noise when there is zero audio. The Aero has a very noticeable hiss.
Both have a very good stereo image, but once you add signal processing into the mix via Control Studio, the Aero wins. The Kraken has a good natural stereo separation, but doesn’t come with any drivers, so you can’t make it better digitally.

The clincher for me is that I prefer something that allows me to listen to Youtube and Spotify as well as game with. Plus I play a fair bit of RPGs, and they tend to have classical music themed soundtracks that fall a bit flat with the Kraken. The Kraken is good for gaming but the Aero is a bit more of an all rounder, which makes it better for gaming overall if you play a more varied set of genres (the spectrum for me would be the dark electro of Ruiner to the more classical stuff in Elder Scrolls/Total War).

The *big* downside for the Aero might be that it is not as loud as many other headphones at max volume. I suspect there is some sort of ear-health cutout going on here. It also doesn’t have anywhere to stow the usb wireless dongle when you are not using it. That hiss at low sound levels might also be a problem for some.

Oh, and to end, the Aero has some very endearing C3PO style beeps and trills for connection and sleep sounds. Many other wireless headphones have an American or Chinese voice, but the Aero has happy beeps for connection and a sad trill for when it disconnects on sleep. I’m clearly easily pleased(!) but ignoring the beeps, overall the Aero is my new go-to gaming headphone.

It’s a keeper for me simply because for me, it edges out the Kraken.

I was pleasantly surprised with the headset.

It comes well boxed and the headset is well made.

Setup is a breeze and I was up an running in no time. The software is decent and offers some good customisation.

The proof is in the pudding though so a few observations.

They are quite heavy but have decent battery lfe and to be fair sound really good.

Audio is clear on the mic and the battery lasts a good amount of time.

The positives far outweigh the negatives. Wether gaming or listening to music or a film these are really good.

They could be a touch louder though

    Zustzliches Features
    =====================

    Mein Fazit
    ==========

    5/5

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersDieses Headset funktioniert sowohl mit PC, Ps4 und Mac. (Achtung Mac & Ps4 User: Die Software “Turtle Beach Control Studio” und “Waves 3D Audio” sind hier nicht verfgbar.)

    Pro

Kumpel erstmal fast 4 Stunden The Elder Scrolls Online gespielt.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersMy first pair of gaming headphones ever when I was I kid were Turtle Beach DX11s. Back then I thought you couldn’t get any better than those. Fast forward almost 10 years and I decided to get the Elite Atlas Aeros. I wanted a top shelf PC gaming headset and figured I’d give Turtle Beach another go. The headphones are, in short, incredible. The sound quality is top shelf. The headphones are extremely comfortable, and can be worn for very long stints of gaming without any issues or discomfort. The software that comes with the headphones is the icing on top. The level of customization is amazing, I was able to add the right amount of bass and treble to get the perfect balance. The Waves NX 3D audio cranks up the immersion. I decided to test this out playing DOOM and hearing all the small detailed sounds in a spatial 3D manner made me feel even more immersed than normal. It’s adds a new level of enjoyment to gaming. Overall, these are the best headphones I’ve ever used, period.
