This trimmer is suitable for medium size hedges and copes well with branches.
It is quite heavy and one does need to be careful that cord is looked after when operating off step ladders.
But in overall terms its a good buy.
Used for the first time today, wow what a beast. A little heavy but VERY powerful and effective.
What a piece of Kit!
I recently moved to a new place that has big Hedges to the front and rear of the property.
The Bosch Cutter 50 made light work of them. It is lightweight and simple to use and with sufficient power to tackle some pretty large branches. Definitely recommend it!
I was very impressed with this small hedge trimmer. It’s fairly light and manageable, so ideal for those of us who don’t garden for a living. It is remarkably quiet, yet powerful and precise. Make sure to check out the specifics as this is only really suitable for small to medium-sized hedges. But certainly does the job on those. The cable is long (10 metres) and even though the initial set up is a little faffy it’s a great product.
This Bosch product is a very good hedge cutter, tackling up to one inch thickness with comparative ease. Line of sight to the blades is not obstructed due to the see-through hand guard. The cutting angle is easily adjustable to enable cutting at more difficult angles. It has a powerful motor and overall I am extremely pleased.
The trimmer is badged as “ProSilence” and, whilst quieter than my current older B&D model, it is certainly not silent. The power cable is reasonably sturdy: the plug connection between the cable and the unit has a clip-over dust cap to keep crud from accreting in the socket portion when it’s not in use (i.e. hung in a shed) but the plug connection has no retaining clip, so the cable can disconnect with only modest tension on the cable — move the trimmer too quickly and the weight of the cable on the ground will be sufficient to pull the connector parts apart. On initial use, the cutting blades are efficient and give a neat flat cut. After a couple of seasons of use, I would expect performance to drop — especially on thicker stems — but it is probably no worse than comparable models.
Overall, a decent trimmer.
Very impressed by this bosh hedge trimmer. It’s powerful enough for the job, seems to cut through the hedges and bushes with ease.
The sound is very quietly, certainly compared to a previous, similar, item. It’s a fairly generic hold, certainly no issues at all with this device or its capabilities. All in all it shows good value for money and is definitely something I’d recommend.
This is a lovely trimmer, with all the features that I would wish for. I have tested it with our privet and box hedges and it breezes through them. I found the trimmer a joy to handle and control. Bosch make a big deal about the noise level, but there is no guarantee of the noise that you will make when you are cutting. It does seem to be quieter, but I prefer to wear ear protection anyway.
The trimmer has a 10m power cord, which is fairly standard for this type of trimmer. Combined with a modest extension lead it will suffice for most domestic gardens.
The obvious negative is the relatively high price. I do prefer this trimmer to those that I have used in the past, so if you can afford it then I do recommend it.
You do have to hold it with two hands because of the safety switch which makes it very secure to hold. The cutting blade cuts through leaves and inch thick branches like a knife going through butter. I can not fault anything about it. It works to perfection, is a good price, considering how well it works and I highly recommend it as the best I have owned and for doing all it says. It is very comfortable to hold and very sturdy.A great produc
The first thing I noticed out of the box was how well balanced the cutter was even though it has a bit of weight to it but not overly heavy, and it seems just to position itself where it should when lifted. No tilt or anything. The lead is darn long too at 33ft and the great thing about the cable aside from the generous length is that you can detach it from close to the unit itself which is useful when leaving it unattended and for storage, you can store the cable properly instead of having it hang off the machine and potentially damaging it. It’s also a super bright red colour easily seen when cutting – a good safety feature.
When you start to use it the weight doesn’t seem as much of an issue and it’s definitely lighter than next doors Black and Decker which we sometimes borrow from them, after giving them our best puppy dog eyes, to trim the bushes when they get really out of control. It’s also a lot quieter, the slatted safety guard is a good feature too as it allows you to see what you are cutting. It’s really is a breeze to use coping admirably with trimming the bushes to shape. Super comfortable to use with the handles affording good grip when changing your cutting position, it never feels like it is out of your control.
As usual another excellent Bosch product.
I’m really impressed with this hedge cutter first off was how lightweight it was ideal for hedges that are higher no longer need a ladder as the length of the cutters is fantastic the noise level is ok not as loud as my last one and the cable is pretty long aswel, my hedge looks so much better than before you will need to hand cut thicker branches but that’s not a problem.
Worked straight out of packing with a quick spray of oil on the blade.
Heavy but well balanced, cut cleanly, pleasure to use on privet, box yew and beech hedges.
With it not really being the season for hedge trimming, given the risk of disturbing nesting birds, I’ve only been able to give this a limited trial. I’ll update this review in the Autumn if my experience warrants it. So far its hard to fault this Bosch product.I had a little initial trouble uncapping the plastic connector on the trimmers power cord. This is stiff but came away easily with the aid of a screwdriver. This then can be connected to a supplied longer extension lead. I like this idea as over the years with other machines have sliced through the cord at least twice and had to take the whole thing back for repair–hopefully I won’t again but if it happens it’ll be a bit less embarrassing at least.
There is a good balance to the machine and it is considerably quieter than older models. Its advisable to lubricate blades before and after use.
So far then so good.
If you want to get a job done right then buy Bosch. It is simple as that.
This makes short work of our massive hedge in our backyard
It is also relatively quiet for a hedge trimmer so it helps you to get the job done without alerting those nosey neighbours.
Good quality and value for money.
It is carefully designed to make hedge trimming easy. The longer prong means you can reach further with easy and cut more in one swipe. It does not feel too heavy and the weight is well balanced. I feel a lot more secure using this than I did with my old one as I would have to lean over the hedge to reach,
The cutting prongs are widely spaced and this makes short work of branches up to abut 2.5 cm. It just slices right though them like butter. It is a bit of a beast.
My monthly hedge trimming chore that usually takes a good hour or so, was done in less than 15 minutes this week – and then I was looking around for more to trim – I might have got a little carried away but is was immensely satisfying.
It comes with a good long cable too.
This HedgeCut 60 electric hedge trimmer by Bosch is perfect for small to medium size gardens and it comes supplied with a generous 10 metre (over 32 feet) detachable power cable that could be used in many town gardens without the need of an extension lead. This model is well designed and nicely made, as you would expect from the Bosch company, and matches many of my other tools by the brand. Well-balanced and ergonomic to use it’s 480 Watt motor is much quieter than my old model and with a blade length of around twenty inches it can cut through your hedge in good time — but perhaps trim back some of the very thickest hedge sections with secateurs or a saw at the start of the season to make trimming a bit easier. Prices currently vary from around one hundred and thirty pounds up to near one hundred and fifty pounds putting it near the top end of the price band for the size and power for this type of electric trimmer. However, it is a good quality product from a trusted manufacturer that does the job with little fuss so it may be worth paying a bit extra over a less well known brand. Five stars for performance and quality at the price.
This hedge trimmer from Bosch is super. It’s lighter weight than our older one and very comfortable to hold and work with, it’s much quieter too at just 90 decibels. It has a quality blade with a wide 26 mm width between the teeth, great for cutting branches up to an inch in diameter with ease. It has a 480W motor so plenty powerful enough for most jobs in the garden. It comes with a detachable 10 metre thick red cable, a good colour to remind you to keep it out of the way when cutting. It also has a safety hand guard and just feels ergonomically comfortable to hold. I cut through an established ivy hedge easily then tried it out on our tall privet hedges, again very easy to manoeuvre with the 50 cm length blade giving me control to cut accurately. It’s easy to clean too and store with it’s hard plastic blade case. An excellent Bosch hedge trimmer that’s a quality build, quieter and easier to hold as it’s not too heavy or overly large to use, I absolutely recommend it.
Good product from a reputed company. It’s got a long blade to reach further behind in the hedges. Only issue is that it’s fairly heavy – but that’s probably more dependent on how comfortable you would be holding something heavy – so a bit more relative
The ten-metre cable supplied is most adequate to reach most places in the garden, although I do tend to use another extension cable, to assist reaching those far corners of the garden.
The positive thing about the cable supplied, is that it is also push connected near to the actual hedge cutter, so if one needs to disable the devise for any reason, it is very easy to disconnect it from the mains. This is a good safety point, especially if one has young children near, as they always want to indulge themselves with any power tool.
I found the machine can easily cut through branches of three quarter of an inch, or twenty millimetres, for thicker branches the saw-like action, when holding the devise close to them, works very well. The actual devise will handle up to 26 mm in thickness.
I have in the past used a longer and more powerful Bosch 700-Watt, hedge cutter, but for ease and balance of action, this 480 Watt with a 500 mm blade length is more handy and convenient to use.
As I’m getting on in years, I’ve found these particular chores getting harder. However, when given the opportunity to try this, I thought I was in heaven as I have so many other Bosch electric tools, including a lawn mower (excellent).
I should have gotten rid of my old trimmer years ago as this is just superb. Typical of my views on Bosch items, this did the job and it did it well. ‘Like a hot knife through butter’ is the phrase that comes to mind, all you need to do is some preparation work on bushes/hedges where there may be thicker branches that need trimming, but other then that this deals with them all.
Noise level is good, so much better than my previous (and neighbour’s trimmers!!!) but still reasonably noisy although not so much that you should wear ear protectors (I’m glad of this as I was fed up of wearing them during the hot summer months).
A truly superb trimmer and one that will last, going by all the other Bosch tools I have. Bosch is my maker of choice and this trimmer does not disappoint. It achieved and exceeded my expectations.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
This Bosch hedge trimmer comes in its own box . Opens Ng it up the first thing you notice is the length of the lead , it’s a huge 10 metres which should be long enough for the majority of gardens ( unless if course you have a football field ) .
The unit itself is quite heavy at 3.5kg so definitely needs to held with both hands . It has a 480 w motor , which you imagine will be very noisy , however Bosch have thought of this and installed Pro Silence technology which significantly decreased the sound from the motor when cutting .
The blades are extremely sharp and slid through hard Ivy stems like a hot knife through butter .
It’s double grip handles make it easier to switch positions from cutting horizontally to vertically .
I’m happy to recommend this as quality gardening equipment , price brand and quality all live up to my expectations of the Bosch Name .
We have a property surrounded by conifers which need trimming at least once a year to keep neat. I had a hand me down Bosch trimmer that must of been at least 15 years old, but it eventually gave up the ghost, so this seemed the logical replacement.
First thing I noticed was how quiet it was compared to the one it replaced, it’s still loud compared to silence, but, in terms of using it, you could use it without wearing hearing protection.
The cut is fanstastic and it goes through conifer like butter, obviously, you need to trim branches and thicker shoots in your prep, but it didn’t miss a best in 4 hours constant use.
They include a 10m power lead that is very visible and good quality heavy duty cable
I would strongly recommend this for anyone looking to trim their own garden hedges.
