Was really surprised by this, thought it might be a bit flimsy but I shouldn’t have doubted Bosch. Very sturdy, good quality and cuts well. Bag fills up quickly and be sure to attach it properly, it is a little fiddly.

Great on wet or dry grass. Good collection.
Quite heavy but easy to move about.
A strange foldable grass-collection box which I would rather is solid but it still works.
The “box full” indicator actually works too! When full of grass has a tendency to tip backwards.
Overall surpassed my expectations and I am very pleased with it.

Great mower that has different height settings and make the garden look great with the stripes it produces. The only small issues are the short cord that everyone complains about and the long body that makes it difficult for short people like myself to manoeuvre- my husband is 6foot and finds it easy to turn. All in we are very happy with it for a corded mower.

I previously had a Bosch Rotak 34-R which finally died after 11 years. I was prepared to buy that model again but the reviews for the newest version were not good. So I bought this UniversalRotak 36-550 instead, and I’m very happy with it. It’s very easy to put together and doesn’t weigh much. It has a button for the height settings, which is very handy, especially compared to my last one which had a difficult lever. I’ve just cut my damp, very overgrown, weed-choked grass and it sailed through it with no trouble. I am not young or particularly fit but could easily push it uphill with one hand.

There are a few niggles:
– it doesn’t cut as close to the edge as my old one did.
– the grass collector box doesn’t always fit on first time.
– the cable is ridiculously short and an extension lead is a necessity.
– I found the racing bike style handles uncomfortable but held the top bar instead.
– there is an indicator to show the grass box is full, but before that showed anything the whole thing was tilting backward from the weight of the grass.
– the instruction book is a joke. Pages and pages of safety and technical info in multiple languages, then a few incomprehensible pictures for how to use it. I had to search YouTube for how to set the height adjuster. If anybody else struggles: you grab the handle and press the button with your thumb. Pull the handle up (or down) while pressing the button and you see the numbers change in the little window as it moves.
– It’s advertised as a quiet machine but it didn’t seem any less noisy than my last one.
– It may not suit a tall person. I’m 5-7 and found it just right with the handles fixed on the highest setting. I haven’t let the husband loose on it yet, but at over 6 ft I think he may find it a bit low.

Despite all that I’m very satisfied and think it’s well worth the 200 I paid for it. I’ll probably never find a perfect machine but this is as close as it gets for me, so I’m giving it 5 stars.
