So pleased I finally have my own carpet cleaner after years of hiring rug doctor! Easy to use, easy to clean, great at lifting the dirt! I need some practice with the stair gadget as I was too heavy on the cleaning solution so it took longer to dry but apart from that, chuffed to bits with my purchase. Only downside is now my family and friends keep asking to borrow it!

I am not disappointed with this at all
I bought a Vax carpet cleaner about 20 years ago and it was complete rubbish. So when I decided to try again it was with some reservations both about carpet cleaners in general and particularly about Vax. Eventually having trawled the various brands and models and studied reviews I decided to plump for another Vax in the mid price range. Well I have to say this time round its a very different story. The machine is so easy to understand use. There are no complex settings you pretty much set it to wash and off you go. You pull the trigger on the forward stroke to release solution into the carpet and release the trigger on the back stroke to suck up the dirty water and oh boy it it dirty. Very satisfying to see that dirt in the recovered water because its telling you what a good job you are doing. Both the clean water and dirty water tanks are easy to remove and fill/empty. I’ve used the hand attachments on both furniture and stairs and whilst I think they work quite well you don’t get that same WOW factor as you do when using the main unit. I’d certainly recommend this for the price as it only amounts to a couple of carpet hire transactions and you get to use it as often as you like.

Great machine
I bought this because we have a very active collie that brings in mud from the garden from her digging. This machine cleaned it perfectly,you can see the difference straight away. The old water that gets thrown away,really shows how much this is cleaning the carpet. It leaves the carpet reasonably dry too. Would definitely recommend

Excellent Carpet Cleane
Purchased this carpet cleaner after review on which not quite a Best Buy according to the them but close. Having used the washer it was very impressive leaving the carpets clean. It is on the heavy side when full of water but think that actually helped good value for money does what purchased for.

WOW!!
So, I’ve used the mainstream brand that you hire for many years and thought it about time I invested in one of my own.

I ordered this Vax CWGRV021 (went for additional attachments because of toddlers potty training and puppies going on top of it, even though I had been cleaning with urine spot cleaners – the house STUNK)

The first thing I noticed is how small the box was (about half the size I expected). Average weight for such a product.

Assembly was super easy. The bits just clip on and screw in etc. very clear instructions included. I bought the Vax pet solution for this as I was cleaning urine stink. I followed the setup instructions on the machine pamphlet rather than the solution bottle. I had read that someone had a lot of foam with warm water so I used tepid.

The machine is so easy to use. I also did a “figure 8” on old stains just because it felt right. Lol!

I did all the carpets in my house; 4 double bedrooms and the landing then down the stairs.

One of the things I noticed in the description of this machine is that it states it goes all the way to the edges…YES! Literally down the edge of the carpet at the skirting which is an inch closer than my likewise stating vacuum cleaner.

The stairs attachment (I used the one with rotating brush) was very easy to use as well. The spray has a big span and the brush scrubbed off the chocolate stains my kids left.

When I’d finished, I applied the “post treatment” lightly over all the carpets.

I decided to clean the machine well so that we don’t use a dirty machine next time. See pics!! I had vacuumed everywhere “properly” and still this machine was completely covered with hairs. The filter was so dusty and the brushes were so clogged. I’d recommend cleaning and letting compartments dry so the machine doesn’t smell next time you use it.

My husband came home once the carpets had nearly dried (I did a DEEP wash so this was about 4 hours later) and he said three things;
1) the carpet looks new
2) there is just a fresh smell rather than the damp dog smell we got from the rented machines
3) oooh how bouncy! The carpet is all fluffy again (5 years old and high traffic)

I NEVER say this but I feel so strongly about this machine; if I could give it 10 stars I would!!

Does the job
We have used this carpet washer in every carpeted room and the stairs. It worked very well. In dirtier areas it took 2 o 3 times to return the carpet to a good condition. The carpets dry quite quickly, at least at this time of the year (September).I also have to recognise the excellent customer service, both at Amazon and Vax. The first washer worked very well on floors but the stairs attachments didn’t. We did all the recommended troubleshooting steps, but it didn’t work. The item was replaced in just a few days and now it works flawlessly. Very happy with this washes. Readers must be aware that the machine is heavy

Excellent cleaner once you know what to look fo
Purchased this as from Amazon warehouse, it’s a carpet cleaner and I really don’t mind if it has a scuff or a box that has been bashed a bit. As it turned out the box had a hole in it and the machine inside was perfect.

Setup was simple, added warm water, added cleaning solution (will be switching brands of cleaner) and quickly figured out how to attach the hose.

This unit is heavy with water in it, but that should not be a surprise, what is important is that it holds a lot of clean water so you can easily do a whole room without any hassle. It’s not meant to be used like a hoover other than you drag it across the carpet.

Clear the area to be cleaned and then do nice slow stripes over the carpet – push forwards and squirt, then drag slowly back over the same line. Move over to a fresh bit of carpet and repeat.

Immediately noticed the quantity of water being sucked up out of the carpet – very impressive given the semi industrial machines I have used in the past. Also noticed that this machine warms the carpet as you drag it back.

Now for the quirk, if you notice that it’s not sucking up much water then switch the machine off and on again. It means that the dirty water blue plunger has activated. Once activated it wont suck any more water. This can happen in a few ways, too much dirty water in the tank – in which case empty it. If the front of the machine loses contact with the floor and finally if the filter sock around the blue plunger is not fitted properly. Take time and ensure that the filter sock is seated as well as possible – it will make all the difference.

With the cleaning solution supplied I was able to do all carpters in the house including the stair carpet. However, I have gone an bought a different solution as the Vax cleaning solution is just too expensive: Dirtbusters pet carpet cleaner 5 litre professional carpet, its a fraction of the price when you consider that you water it down 50/50 before even adding it to the machine – and it smells great.

Last tip, buy this model if you have stair carpets – the oscillation brush head is worth the extra money.

Finally, as with all machines, keep the brush heads clean. The cleaner you keep the machine the better the results.
