First of all they are not going to work if plant is really higher than your water source, also if they loose suction which is about 50/50 they will not work so monitor the water source to make sure water is actually being sucked out of it. I gave up on the concept in exchange for wicking water up with a nylon string in a reservoir through the bottom of the pla

Ideal watering system for your house plants when going on away for some time. Easy to install. I tested them on my plants, using a 1lt plastic milk bottle. It was enough to last more than three weeks. My only concern is over watering so I would not use them continuosly.

Is very useful, but u need to plug it under water to get a good seal and get the water going in the inside of the tip, also a big container of water probably is good for 3 to 4 plants.

These watering spikes are just the thing for keeping plants watered whilst away on holiday. They’re even good for using throughout summer so long as you keep the water container fairly full of water.

Very easy to use and it works wonders. I was away for 5 weeks for holidays and when I came back home, all my indoor plants are alive and well. Soil is damn but to overly wet.

When you set it up, make sure to fill in the tubes with water and no air bubbles in it. Aside from that, make sure you’ve got big buckets to dunk the other end in to ensure sufficient supply of water to the plants for the time you’re away.

You need to follow the instructions carefully about getting bubble out of the system.
Quick to arrive, robust enough and work. If you have thirsty plants, eg tomatoes, you will need to parallel units up multiple units.

I bought these as I was going on a 3 week holiday and was worried about my plants.
I followed instructions but left everything soaking in a deep container filled with water for an hour. Then I shook the ceramic spikes under the water to expel any air bubbles and covered it with the lid while still submerged. Leaving the wire end under the water I just pushed the spike into the soil in the flower pot. I put two spikes into my larger flower pots. I marked the water level on the water container and noticed the next day that the water level was slowly going down. I installed the spikes into slightly moist soil as this system wouldn’t work in complete dry soil.

You do need to make sure the water within the capsule is full for the device to work- I also realise it only works for plants that consumes water fast to generate the pull of water. My indoor avocado plant used to dry out easily and needs watering every 3-4 days but now i had not watered it once since it’s fed by this device 3 months ago! It’s flourishing so well I needed to prune the leaves. I do need to top up a 5 litre mineral water bottle reservoir when level gets low but that’s it! Can’t be happier.

I read a few reviews, but I’m always taking things people say with a pinch of salt so was unsure.

I went away for a week and a half whilst it was very warm in the UK and my house plants are generally 50% in the sun during the day. These feeders worked a treat and kept my plants watered and healthy for the duration of my trip, and I can honestly say I was very surprised, and very delighted.

NOTE: I ensured there was no air in the tubes and that the plants/water spikes were elevated above the water bowl as per the instructions.

I’ve ordered several of these sets of spikes now. Both for indoor and outdoor plants. I have to redo fitting them every couple of weeks. But my plants seem much happier if I leave them in place in the summer. I still water with a hose most days, when I’m here. But having them in place means that I don’t feel as tied to my gaden.

These watering stakes work really well. I think you need to set them up quite precisely though or they may not work for you. The key is not having any air in the stake or the tube. You can do this by setting them up whilst fully submerged in water. You can then see all the air bubbles escaping from the end of the tube. There are good videos on Youtube of how to set them up as the instructions in these are a little vague. I am going to experiment with these a little more but I think they’ll work best for plants that need more rather than less watering as these stakes will be watering all the time it isn’t ideal for plants that like to dry out between waters. Very good quality products.

With an adequate water supply and set up properly these little things will keep houseplants or even greenhouse plants adequately watered with no fuss and no bother over a protracted period. We have used them to keep house plants alive and well for up to a couple of months with no problem.

Only just set up & used for first time(hence only 4 star rating) but after 1 day the plants all appear to be watered, i kept the water containers below the level of the plants so as not to over water & it has seemed to
work, so i will continue to experiment & hopefully more happy watering.

I was going away for 2 weeks and searching for a solution to keep my houseplants alive. These absolutely did the job. I submerged the entire ‘spike’ end in water to fill them, ensuring there were no air bubbles to stop the flow. When I returned all of my plants had soil that was moist to the touch and were flourishing.

They kept my plants Alive all summer long while I was away on holiday abroad. all my plants thrived so much that I ended up sticking to this system afterward too! So green & healthy and grown!

Only two considerations, if you leave for two months like I did, you need to use a whole bucket per plant for watering as on average most of my plants drink 750ml water per week. Also this is does not seem like the greatest system for small plants (7cm diameter) , as they turn out overwatered. Other than that, splendid system!

I’ve used these for years. I have nine house plants that thrive even when I’m not around to water them. Caution:. They must be primed before installing–soakthem in water until the ceramic insert is full of water. After that the laws of physics take over. Don’t let the water container go empty.

I left 5 weeks and installed 3 of these things in the pot (as the plant is quite big, 1,4m). It worked perfectly well, when I came back my plant was superb and the soil still humid. Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersEasy to set up. Fill bucket with water, and put the the pointy bits into the water. After 15 minutes, hold the tube part in the water and attach to the top of the pointy bit. Then put it into the soil.
Useful tip. As the tube that feeds the water is twisty, I drilled holes in a piece of wood and passed end of tube through , so the wood floats and open end of tube stays in the water.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThese are the handiest little things!!! I had to go away for 10 days so I bought in these. They were great.

I tested them a few times before leaving, and the one thing I would say, which isn’t really made clear on the instructions, is to make sure there are no air bubbles in the stake when you add the little lid on. I added the lid on whilst holding the stake underwater, and have found that this makes sure that it continues to work! Then just make sure your plant babies have enough water!!!

    Fantastic

These are awesome! But there’s a trick to getting them going… First, soak them at least an hour. When you do, push the hose underwater and weigh it down. A big spoon worked perfectly for me. Use a larger pot to soak them, then fill the top reservoir and put the cap on BEFORE removing them from the water.
I placed mine rather close to the plant stock. Only about 2″ away. Make sure the top of your water restore is below the top of the spikes reservoir, and you should be good to go.

I was a bit sceptical of this product but the result was unbelievable. All my plants lived and thrived for 30 days without someone checking regularly. Instructions were very clear and I followed them as directed.

Well, I wasn’t sure what to expect due to so various reviews, but I though to give it a go as needed to find something and it was not expensive. I am glad I did, excellent product, I only tried 2 of them and it works perfectly well, I haven’t watered my plants for nearly 3 weeks now, very easy to install, just follow the instructions and watch some Youtube videos. By the way, there is no whole in it as there is no need for it, so don’t look for one or think you have a faulty product, as it works completely different. It is great value for money as you have 10 in a pack.

My set arrived very quickly after ordering. Some comments here say that there were no set up instructions – I received a simple set of installation instructions with mine. Soak them for a good 20 minutes before installing. Fill the reservoir, firmly put on the cap and away you go. I use 5L mineral water bottles as a reservoir. All of my devices are fully operational. I use with all of my herb plants in pots on my very sunny large balcony. I find it best to dampen the soil before use to get the capillary action going. I weight the tubes down with old brass keys and plunge a few times – pumping motion to get the water flowing. I am very impressed with these simple devices and use to keep my outdoor plants watered all of the time – not just when away from home. I will purchase another set soon.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis review is for the Watering Stakes Automatic Watering System.
In a nutshell: it worked for me. Bought these before leaving on holidays for a couple of weeks and came back to find all my plants had survived. We’re actually leaving it permanently in place for some of them, as it seems to regulate watering quite well.
    * Follow the instructions as shown in the pictures and it should just work.
    * The amount of water reaching the soil depends on how high the water reservoir (cup, bottle, etc.) is placed in relation to the plant itself. The higher the water source is placed, the more water is delivered. Place it too low and very little or no water can reach the plant at all.
    * Search for videos online to have a better understanding about how this system actually works.

I really don’t want to keep messing with house plants but they were gifts in flower baskets and I don’t have the heart to let them die or throw them away So outdoor plants get shoved in the garden and now I have three peace lillies a dragon plant and loads of ivy!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo far, so good. The instructions are a bit ropey. But there are good YouTube videos to help you set these up. I am hoping that they will save the lives of my plants when I go on a two-week break soon. I’ve had them set up for about nine days now. When they’re functioning properly they are pretty close to miraculous. My plants have to come under the heading of The Great Survivors. Despite having bought a battery-powered water meter, I still manage to get it wrong. When these work, the plant controls its own watering. However, on two occasions I have found that they have dried out. I’ll update when I get back from far climes…

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe ones that worked 8 of 10 worked well. There are no directions. I used gallon jugs in 5 gallon pots and sat them beside each plant and labeled the water use daily. Each one was pretty consistent and I was able to leave the jugs for a week. They used about a half of gallon each. I think this depends on how wet the plants are to start with. I’m happy with the results, I’ve done it now for 3 weeks pouring the rest of the gallon into the plants after a week and refilling the jugs for another week.
