How to Connect your Mobile Device
- Download the Smart Life App: Download the “Smart Life” from the App Store/Google Play, or scan the QR code on the user manual, and create an account.
- Plugged the WiFi hub into an indoor outlet that was in close proximity to your smart sprinkler timer.
- Installed two AA batteries in the water timer.
- Turn on the Bluetooth and WiFi of your phone. Go to the Smart Life app and log in, and then tap “Add device” or “+” to add the hose timer in app. Select “Gateway Control” > “Socket Gateway(BLE)”.
- Press the button of the wifi hub, then the green indicator will rapidly blinks, pair to the app.
- Insert 2 AA Batteries into the timer, press the button on the water timer until the green indicator rapidly blinks, click “Add Device” on the app.
- Program your timer with the App: Waiting for connecting to be 100%. Now you can program your timer on your phone.

Does exactly what is expected. Easy to program through the app. However, disappointing for me was that the default “on” time when you use the on-button on the device is fixed at 10 minutes which cannot be changed. I wanted something where I can set this time to 1 minute (one minute of water once turned on) which did not work. The description is slightly misleading in this respec

Works, looks tough, great control via SmartLife free app. Could wind normal irrigation right down, then boost the schedule from abroad! after hot days (as reported on weather apps if necessary)
This works well on its own by pressing the button or by using a smart phone . I operated it from 100 miles away. Easy to setup . My wife wants to know why we did not buy it before !
Easy to install. When I first did the setup, it picked up the switch quickly and I thought it had completed. When I went away I couldn’t connect via phone, then I remembered the gateway wasn’t installed. I installed the gateway when I got home and now Alexa waters my garden for me. To be honest the schedule timer is all you would need as well as the ability to turn on manually. The manual function is slow as the switch goes to sleep and needs to wake up, but schedule works a treat.
This replaced an old manual timer and came it at four times the cost so expectations were high.
This Diivoo timer was on special offer and came in much cheaper than its competitors. I read through previous reviews to see how much of a pain it may be to set up but as long as you follow the instructions and set up water valve and Wifi hub in order with app, then it should not be a problem. I ran through quite a few tests on BT (Wifi gateway connects to Water valve via bluetooth) before using remotely and everything is seamless. The hub was plugged in about 3 metres from the valve on the outside wall tap and around 8 metres through 2 walls to the router with no problems.
The regular irrigation alerts may come in at once depending on what speed you are connected to on the (remote) internet and for how long you are watering for. I have been using this for a few months with no problems with the battery. Irrigation for me is once daily but you can set it to as many as you like. This version has only one outlet so you only have one zone for irrigation.
It would be good to use rechargeable batteries even if it means more batteries are required. I have not yet used this from April onwards but hope that the batteries will last from April until Sept/Oct with this sort of set up… which would be fine for my veg!
It is a good idea to try different settings in the app to see how they are applied and what to expect before leaving it to irrigate while you are away from home. The rain delay function works perfectly. The fittings seem robust but I will be contacting the manufacturer to see if there are spares available for tap fittings etc. because if there are no spares then it means forking out for a new timer…(which is what happened with my last known-brand manual timer).
I really like this timer and am really confident in using it whilst away.
Setup was fairly simple. I went for the WiFi model which essentially is the Bluetooth model with a wifi Gateway (hub). As pictured the Gateway plugs neatly into UK plug socket, all be it with the name upside down. As per the instructions I added the hub to Tuya Smart app and then added the Valve Controller. Both items then show up in the App, the Valve Controller shows up in the Apps main screen, it is not necessary to enter the Gateway node to reach the Valve Controller – but you can.
Setting up a timer is then fairly straight forward, select the Valve, click the clock and then the plus (+) sign.
I set up a daily routine, and was able to delay watering from afar, hooray! The delay feature is a little poor, as it is not obvious from the selection what is in effect. I mean you select 48h, but then the next day the option still says 48h is selected when 24 of them have already gone – thankfully the Next Run Time does show you – but not always straight away!
The app has a Notification issue, for some reason these all (most) double up (photo).
Warning, check batteries! One morning it failed to stop irrigation! It thought it had, but nothing actually stopped. Despite the app showing good battery strength, replacing the batteries fixed the issue. The two AA batteries (GP Greencell Extra Heavy Duty 1.5v) therefore lasted approximately seven weeks. It would be great if the device could have informed me that the OFF had failed, and raised an alarm.
Regarding the app, I could not see how to delete a timer, I ended up having to remove the device from Tuya Smart which then offered to erase all settings from the device. It was then rediscovered and added easily.
All in all I am fairly happy with the device, just need to make sure fresh batteries are installed when going away and that the watering is at a time when I can monitor it.
Decent bit of kit. Dont have to go out and turn sprinkler on and off every night any more.
I used this in timer when ibwas a way in holiday amd could also control via phone. Well impressed and gonna buy another for my holiday home as the ones you see ti water plants are much more expensive with far less control
A bit fiddly to install, paper instructions are not perfect and app a bit clunky, but go it working in 15 minutes. Saved my lawn as we were on holiday during the 40 degree period. Just does what it is supposed to quietly and with no fuss
Easy to set up daily irrigation. Note two stages, WiFi and Bluetooth needed. And download the app. Then Remote and at home adjustments been a dream. Nothing died under its management.

Slight fiddle to set up through Wi-Fi but the Bluetooth connection got me up and running very quickly. Flexible timer options and a simple button on the unit for manual switch on. Not sure what else I need.
Look forward to seeing how it uses battery. Would also like to know (as with all these units) how fails safe it is – but other reviews indicate it should be reliable.
The manual is confusing many ways and needs improvement.
What you have to understand is:
1. That you are Installing a WiFI framework (linking the general purpose SmartLife app (download/install) to the internet through the supplied gateway (the little device plugged into the mains).
2. Then install the water timer (or any other SmartLife compatible device) using Bluetooth (be close to the timer for this purpose).
Once done, you don’t need Bluetooth anymore and can set the SmartLife app to connect remotely via internet to your Water Timer.
Once set up, this water timer works very well with minimal battery drainage.
Works great and easy to use. Wish there was a little more control automatically when it rains.
Uses Bluetooth -set at home before going away
Perhaps would be even better to have one I could control remotely via internet to avoid unnecessary usage ie on rainy days

I liked everything about this except for the fact that it only stays on for a short while with the override button. Other than that, great product.
This is good value for money at 60.
I found the wifi hub connected very quickly and easily through the SmartLife app, and I’m lucky that the little wifi hub is plugged into an electrical socket on the other side of the wall to the tap and the valve. Try to keep the wifi hub as close to the valve as possible.
I use this to control a flowerbed irrigation system and it works very well. I use the SmartLife app for a number of other wifi devices (interior lights and exterior lights) and this integrates just as easily as the others. If there is one weakness in the software it’s that although it has the weather data available it isn’t quite clever enough at automatically not watering the flowers when it’s rainy weather. You have to pause the schedule manually, although this is easy enough using the app.
The batteries have lasted weeks so far.
Next step for me is to find out if I can daisy-chain to a Bluetooth version of the valve on a second tap, or if I need a second wifi version with its own wifi hub. Hopefully the former.
Physical installation was easy as pie.
Pop in the batteries, screw it to my (new) out-side tap, attach the water pipe work.
Plug the little hub thingy in under my kitchen sink, half way between my internet hub and the valve.
It then took over an hour and a half to actually rig up the watering pipe work, but that has nothing to do with the timer, and more to do with my ineptitude. I fix cars, I am not a plant irrigation expert.
Getting the app to pair with the hub and timer was a one of those ‘why on Earth is this so freaking hard? WORK you forking things!!” But eventually I managed to get my iPad to see the hub and valve, and I also assume each other, in the app.
That also took about an hour and a half. Technology. Sigh.
Setting the watering schedule was then easy. Monday to Sunday, 10 minutes, 9pm.
I am not sure if it dislikes rechargeable Duracell batteries, or if the ones I installed are past their best. It reported a freshly charged set at 34% – out of the charger.. I have some brand new ones on charge, will see if they do last better.
I theory it should pop up a notification of flat batteries, so I will wait to see if it actually does.
The app strikes me as one of those bits of software written by someone who has an IQ through the roof, and not one ounce of common sense. It’s like designing the best ever bonnet release handle in the world for a car, and then putting it in the boot, under the carpet, under the spare wheel. Lovely handle. Most inaccessible location possible.
One thing I completely fail to understand is why it needs a second box to work.
If I speak English, and you speak English we do not need an interpreter in order to speak to each other.

The brand new batteries were no better. Flat in under a week.
You can not successfully use 1.2V rechargeable NiMH batteries in this. It sees the 1.2v as ‘almost flat’ and then shuts down after a few days of use, even though (in theory) they still have plenty of life left in them, because the voltage has dropped too low.
I got some Lithium rechargeable batteries, that output 1.5v. Now the app reports that the timer has fully charged batteries when the batteries are actually fully charged. I’ll see how long they last.
I refuse to use single use batteries. Waste of resources, hazardous waste.
The bluetooth option is easy to programme from the app. It does what is supposed to do plus you can check it worked on the irrigation history. Only had it a week but very happy so far. With the Bluetooth you can only adjust the timer if your app is “live” however it will operate normally if out of range.
Have had the timer for a few weeks now and seems to work as expected will see how long the battery life is but so far it’s gone down 10% since installed.
Great product easy to setup via the app . Keeps my plants watered during global warming
This unit is easy to set up. Mobile app works really well. Great choice of watering options. Also you can override the presets you’ve set up. The Wi-Fi hub and watering device need to be relatively close as they connect using Bluetooth, so not great for going through thick walls.
Excellent gadget. The button for pairing also functions as open/close control – very useful but not mentioned in the instructions. Only feature missing is that there is no indication on the unit to show if it is open or closed.
Really great bit of tech.
The smart life app needs some work as seems to freeze a bit, and it can also take a couple of attempts for Alexa to turn on and off.
All that said it’s still a great bit of tech and my garden is watered at 3am everyday and is looking great !!!!
Good value for money. The setup allows for water control from your smartphone. It looks like the platform can be expanded by other smart home accessories.
Only had this a week but have it watering daily for the lawn. Works great and easy to setup. At the moment can’t fault it.
I have now installed two of these to drive soaker hoses. I’ve been using these for over a month now and it has completely taken the worry out of watering my beds. I’m planning to buy a third one to drive a drip irrigation system for my container plants.
You only need one WiFi device and the rest of them can be Bluetooth ones. This is because the WiFi one comes with a Bluetooth hub (controller) which connects to other Bluetooth valves.
Really easy to set up Alexa discovered it just as quick wanted a controller to turn on and off a water tap so I can automate my garden watering this is perfect and cheaper than some of the others battery life so far very good entering 3rd month blue tooth is not that great between hub and controller luckily I have plenty of spare outside sockets and the hub is small enough to fit inside an MK double waterproof socket not much bigger than a standard plug but I couldn’t get it to conect from inside my house one single brick wall 8 meters away.
This WiFi water time is great. Its very easy to install and easy to use. OK it’s not too fancy, but I will be able to water my plants when I’m away and control it from my phone. Does exactly what I wanted it do. Brilliant!
Changed from an Orbit that I found unreliable. This one is good quality and reliable.
Just keep in mind you need to be within Bluetooth range to make changes (when out of range it of course continues to work as programmed).
Easy to install, easy to setup, occasionally it takes a while for the app to connect to the device, but for timers it’s brilliant. Highly recommend this produc
Very neat box, works well. Took me a while to download and link app. Instructions good but could be little better.
I have been looking for a wifi enabled water timer. Set up was easy, but you need a SmartThings account for it to work. It’s early days and no problems so far. They have replaced a hozelock timer which costs with only basic functionality and no Wi-Fi. I also bought an additional one and added it to the hub. For everyone interested you can buy the Bluetooth version and add it to the hub.
I found this the ice excellent and I ordered a second one a few days ago.
I integrated it really easily with Alexa and Home Assista

Also easily hot swappable with a normal hose, just pressing the black button on the unit switch’s the water on or off so no need to disconnect etc if you just want to use the tap.
Cracking product at nearly half the price of competitors, thought I’d give it a try based on the price.
Does everything you’d expect / as described, only negative is that it’s a little tricky to setup and you have to bind the device to the gateway to be able to manage, other than that then cracking stuff.
Given a 3 on battery life as only been in a couple of week’s so to early / an unknown ATM.
A good quaitly built unit with easy Bluetooth setup on smartphone.
Will buy again.
