Really enjoy using this product as it’s lightweight and more accurate than past circular saws I’ve used. Would definitely recommend. I used this with clamps and a straight edge to but long strips off almost any material.
It’s up to you take care and your time and it’s a good machine I always use a guide for more accuracy and its a top saw
Requires more safety measures from user such as wear mask or goole for safety
Excellent piece of kit for the money! It has made DIY so much easier.
I’ve not had it too long but so far so good. I would recommend one.
Great time saver versus a hand saw & much easier to cut straight.
when I first started using this saw I got OK cuts if you’re not a professional, just a tiny bit off square. also even going thru something as basic as regularised 3”x2” I wasn’t making thru in one pass. the saw would kick up in the last few millimetres. keeping on the line you wanted wasn’t easy either.
HOWEVER, at some point I doubled the effort I applied in pushing the saw downwards and stopped trying to advance forward in the cut. keeping the plate down is obvious but it’s not always clear that you haven’t got it touching everywhere. push down more, the kicking up stops, it goes thru in one pass and you finally get a precise cut with a clean face.
hope this helps someone out there.
Nice tool but hand is too small to push red butto when operating swtch
I wanted a saw for long cuts and cross cuts. I have a sliding mitre saw but it is limited to 10″ cuts, and I debated getting a full sized circular saw as they have more power, but in truth I don’t need a big saw all the while, and I don’t like the fact that unless they have soft start, bigger saws tend to do a sideways ‘kick’ as the motor starts.
I did lots of reviewing and product matching, and ended up getting this on a deal for 90….
The Result? This saw is easy to hold in one hand, and can cut through wood nice and straight thanks to the switchable laser on top.
Bottom line; this is a great saw that seems very capable, and not too big to make it scary or hard to handle.
Recommended!
Very easy to use and reliable. Only issues are the locking nut has to be tightened after every sheet of timber otherwise it just stops cutting. So would hate to use it all day! Fine for DIY
Like the size of machine. Having done a few test cuts I found like some other reviewers the blade tended to wander. I replaced it with a generic one from Screwfix. This has a slightly wider kerf which so far seams to have solved the issue as cut through 18mm plywood ok. Since I have only done a few test cuts how it performs in the long term only time will tell.
I was a little unsure about ordering this saw as some of the reviews were concened about it being unable to cut in a straight line. With a length of wood as a straight edge clamped to my mdf boards and the saw running up the side of it as a guide the saw has cut accurately and straight every time. No sign of running off or the saw sticking in the cut. I’m very pleased with its performance.
I have the WX427 XL 700W WORXSAW and have read the tales of woe other reviewers have related here. I have only cut wood using the machine and I have only used the wood blade that came in the box. My own experience of this saw is quite positive. This saw is incredibly light weight, the blade is very thin and creates minimal saw dust. I have had very accurate cuts using it.
However, like most users I tried to use the saw like I use my 1800W circular saw and indeed I too found the blade wandered from true even when using a straight edge as a guide. At first I thought this was because my hand pushing the saw with the blade at full depth of the work piece through the cut was positioned behind the blade and that the slightest deviation from the straight edge by me would result in an unsatisfactory cut. The blade jammed. In fact the blade did slip on one occasion. I was cutting 18mm birch ply. Whilst the blade is sharp and the machine turns fast, it does not have the same torque as my 1800W circular saw, nor should I expect it to. The vibration feedback will using the machine told me I was pushing it machine or blade beyond its limits cutting this material.
I then adjusted my technique. Instead of trying to achieve the cut in one single pass I found I could achieve accurate cuts running the blade depth at half depth using a straight edge as a guide. Allowing the blade to cut without pushing the machine too hard, the forces and vibration acting on the blade and the machine were noticeably less. Running the next pass with the blade just past full depth of the work piece resulted in sharp clean cuts on both the topside and underside of the work requiring very little with a hand plane.
Using this technique I have consistently achieved good clean accurate cuts of over 2.4 metre lengths, requiring very little corrective work if any and was able to complete all my cuts through the birch ply to build the sides, doors and drawers for a wardrobe.
I have found 1″ thick MDF can be cut in a single pass with no issues or defects.
When cutting timber like pine shelving boards, again I found no issue. Cutting 2″ x 4″ framing timber may need the multi-pass approach if the wood is knotty and you are looking for a precise cut.
If you try to twist the machine in the cut, the blade will jam. If you nip the blade in the cut between the work piece sides without supporting them properly, the blade will jam. This is after all a 700W machine.
I have no particular brand loyalty and pick machines on their merits. This particular saw is very good for light work where a 1800W brute would do more damage than good. Used with a straight edge guide and clamping everything down safely, clean crisp cuts can be achieved consistently.
Pay attention to the material you are cutting, plan the cuts properly and with a little time and understanding of the behaviour and performance of the machine which can only come with experience, you can achieve good cuts with this machine.
One last thing, I do not rely or have ever used the laser. It was setup in a factory and shipped, then delivered. It is not unreasonable to expect the laser to be out of alignment.
Bought this to cut floor tiles when laying new kitchen floor. Was a little sceptical about buying a combined tile/wood saw rather than a specific tile saw. But figured being a keen woodworker I would get more use from this once I finished the tiling. Cut 17 full width cuts on 333x333x9mm ceramic floors tiles, plus a few smaller cuts on a single blade. Was very impressed with the ease at which the saw went through the tiles. Admittedly it does now need a new blade, the last couple of cuts took a little longer. Still not bad going. Have yet to try on wood, will use on sheet material most likley, will update review when I do.
Not exactly a feather weight but lots better than a full size saw. It’s a handy sized tool that gets the job done. Previous comments about its accuracy are a little unfair. I’ll concede that the guide isn’t properly square straight out of the box, but it doesn’t take much to align it by bending the bracket a wee bit. However, if you clamp a piece of straight scrap timber to your work piece, the framework runs true when either using it for left or right hand cuts. So far I’ve had no problems whatsoever with this efficient little tool. I assume that it is aimed at the average DIYer and not for heavy duty professional use. I would recommend this to any skilled DIY tog. Always remember that this is a serious tool and not to be abused, ALAWAYS follow the safety instructions!
This saw is ideal for cutting sheet wood and floorboards in situ.
There is a slight kickback but can be eliminated after a bit of practice when lowering onto timber.
Has been used several times where a full size circular saw would have been difficult.
Good tool, good buy.
I need to get better at using this as it doesn’t roll through the wood in quite the butter like way I had envisaged but that is more to do with my technique than the tool. I am a very basic DIYer and bought this to cut through a load of pallets and scrap wood and I have to say its a great little tool.
I did have cramp in my hand the other day from using it but I had been using it for the guts of 40 mins so to be expected. I would recommend this definitely.
This is the second one I’ve bought. I’ve marked it down for accuracy because the screw in fence thing it comes with is pretty poor and because the blade is small it doesn’t keep itself on a straight line like a full size one might.
They are however really portable, make a nice cut, aren’t stupidly loud and the dust extraction even works a bit.
I’ve built this second one into a pair of guide rails to make a mini track saw to cut sheet materials down on a vertical frame and it works perfectly.
So far I’ve used it to cut wood, 18 mm ply-wood, 18 mm chipboard flooring, and brick. It makes light work of them all. The laser guide is helpful and accurate. There is almost no dust when used with a vacuum cleaner attached. The carrying case is sturdy, but the storage compartment for spare discs and the manual, etc. is poorly designed.
If you want to cut along a precise line I would recommend a few trial cuts first as I found I had to view the blade from the side which make lining up with a cut line more of judgement. Once you are used to this, the laser light guide is good.
Really like this bought so I could cut through venison bones quickly as my bone saw was taking too long worked a treat. Really easy to use and clean. It will now do woodworking tasks.
Bought it yesterday and used it today , used it to cut up some 8×4 sheet 12 mm thick , it had no problem whipping through it
Unless you’ve got a bag don’t put the exhaust outlet on it as it blows up in the air and near to your face if your bent over watching the cut . Well pleased with it on the whole perfect for the jobs I’ve needed it o

Quite a chunky tool which was not uncomfortable or hard to hold. Slightly disappointed with the accuracy, ended up clamping a betten to use as a guide as it is easy to wander from a straight line making a freehand cut. Coped with chipboard loft flooring if careful to keep a straight cut but did tend to struggle if I wandered off the straight and true. Having only a short base plate did not seem to help. Still pleased with this tool and look forward to trying it on mild steel sheets and other types of wood which I think will give a better result and an easier cut.
The blade for the wood was fine, but the blade for cutting metal (which was what I wanted it for ) was rubbish .
Excellent item. I bought it to cut boards while I’m flooring my attic as there’s not a lot of space and I didn’t want to go up and down the ladder constantly.
This does the job perfectly, there’s very little vibration and it’s simple to use one handed. Much easier than a handsaw!

I’m so happy I bought this tool. Its such a time saver when needing to make quick cuts.
Its important to know that the blades on this toolk are quite thin therefore I only recommend this as a multi tool for quick jobs where accurancy isn’t super important.
I use this tool to supplement my existing drop saw, diamond cutter and tile cutter. For example I used this when cutting fence panels or cutting wooden battons down to size as accurancy isn’t too important. I wouldn’t be using this to cut a kitchen worktop or a gravel board (with the supplied stone cutting disc).
The lazer light was useful to follow my marked line and easy to use one handed, the guide worked as expected. I have not tried the stone cutting disc but imagine it would struggle.
A very handy tool. Lightweight to lift and is great for those smaller quick jobs. The take off of sawdust is far better than expected so minimal clearing up afterwards. Have tried this saw on wood up to 18mm, including laminate with no problem. Was concerned about some reports of jamming, but if you let the tool do the work it is absolutely fine! Marked down on accuracy as free hand cutting slightly wanders due to the size of the blade, so would recommend using a guide – cuts are straight and accurate with the guide. Second worx tool purchased and well pleased with purchase.
Ability to use the saw using the guide to give an accurate cut.
Saw used to cut slot in ceramic tiles.
The lines are always off especially the 45 and the laser seems to turn itself on and runs out of battery power instead of hard wired to the appliance. Overall good little tool and good power loads better than the larger type to get a straight accurate line.

Ideal for cutting tongues off T&G floorboards. There are a couple of variations of this saw, make sure you get the right one! I found the laser on mine helped greatly when steering a straight line along the boards with the odd cut-nail trying to upset the base. Being right-handed I found it a little awkward when needing to be used left-handed, but that is not really the fault of the tool.
Did exactly what I wanted but got a little hotter than I would of expected. Only used in short spells but it did not affect its performance.
The saw is nice and compact but I find it jumps sometimes when cutting which detracts from its ease of use plus a lot of dust is created when cutting
A great little tool to help with verity of jobs , I’ve cut tiles , wood , copper pipes, 1.5 mil aluminium sheet and plastic , it’s been great but I feel it’s slightly under power for the size of the moto
I had cheaper battery one (different make) absolutely rubbish every time you tried to cut the blade stopped.
I have used this one several times to cut kitchen worktops lovely tool pleasure to use no more burning an cutting out very surprised
Bit of a pain to put back in box but maybe all power tool designers use the same person to make box lol

I wanted a small powered saw for doing DIY and hobby items such as making planters etc, and felt like a full size circular saw was a bit too much for the job. I’m glad I found this as it is really manageable and feels alot safer than a full size saw. Its easy to handle and I find it very precise with its cuts. There is a depth adjustment on there too which helps if you don’t want to cut as deep. I actually used the adjustment to make it just enough to cut through plasterboard when I was taking out a large section of it and it worked very well indeed.
It’s a very good item and I am sure you will like i
I use alot of machines in my line of work. No good for heavy use everyday. However it’s fantastic for the DIY’er that will use this for the average job
This saw is amazing value for money, ruggedly built and very comfortable to use. I’ve been fitting uPVC soffits and facia boards to the house and having to trim the width of 5mt lengths was made easy using the Worxsaw fitted with a fine toothed blade. It also made short work of chopping up a broken hardwood steamer chair so I could take it to the tip. I would recommend this saw to serious DIYers and tradespeople alike, it’s a great piece of kit.
For years I’ve used a jigsaw to cut close to the line and finished with a block plane. My mitres on 7 inch skirtings always had a bit of filler. Then I tried a circular saw but they are just too unwieldy for small pieces of timber and delicate work. The choice was a sliding mitre saw, a chop saw or a mini circular saw. I chose this Worxs and I wish I’d bought one years ago as they are so good.
I’ve just finished using it to cut and rip 25mm, damp decking boards. The saw was accurate and fast. I found an aluminium roofing square ideal as a straight edge for cross cuts and clamped lengths of timber to act as guide for long rip cuts, a rip fence is included in the box. The laser makes this easy to line up along a long edge, some of the wood being ripped off was only 50mm wide.
The Worx WX427XL can do mitred cuts, has good depth of cut and a motor powerful enough to slice through softwood to maximum depth, rip floorboards and fibreboard and get through hardwood without a problem. Plunge cuts are easy and cutting slots a breeze, finishing with the saw as a ‘Polish Chisel’ to clear out the slot. The metal blade made an easy job of cutten metal gully covers to length.
The laser is bright enough for daylight use and is genuinely useful. The one slight drawback is that it’s battery powered rather than automatically activated when the saw is on.
I bought this to cope with jobs that I was having trouble with using a jig saw. It is superb. Nice clean cuts and a width guide that means if you want to cut pieces with a consistent width it’s a piece of cake. No having to draw lines and then try to follow them. Set the guide and you’re off. The Worx tools are inexpensive, but they can do the job.
Used it, and a chisel, to cut and remove section of bark around a tree. It struggled a bit at the deepest setting, but I managed by cutting a bit slower. The laser guide came in very handy, but if you keep forgetting to turn it off, you’ll be replacing those batteries often. It would make sense if the laser turned itself off after a while of cutting inactivity.

This turned out to be the a handy little tool for quick cutting, I have a fixed circular saw and a large heavy circular saw and a jigsaw, but ended up using this a lot for quick cutting, mostly because it’s easy and quick to grab and use.
Pros: compact – one handed operation, supplied with cutting guide to cut parallel to an edge. Easy to control. Nice 2.5m cable.
Cons: It wouldn’t cut in a straight line at first. I replaced the saw blade and that fixed it, I suspect the one provided was a bit warped. Not very powerful, so had to go slow through hardwood, but didn’t find anything it wouldn’t cut.
Finally: mine died after just over a year and about 3 blades. It would stop with the motor still running. Eventually the motor would run but the disk didn’t spin. I took it apart and the metal teeth on the ring gear had worn down so they no longer engaged in the pinion.
Very Handy to have around. Not as huge and scary as a circular saw and a lot easier to handle. I was a bit dissapointed that cuts don’t ever seem to be perfectly straight but for functionality this is a really good item.
I have longed for one of these saws for some time, and having got one so wished I had done so earlier. It cuts superbly with a good finish, but you must let the saw do the work, not force it through. Using a fence to butt the saw against for a longer cut is well worth while, but there is a problem in that the saw depth lock can hit any clamp holding a straight edge. Answer is low profile clamps or make a wider straight edge. (Hence 4 stars, but I am being a bit mean)
Cutting battons is easy too, using a set square as a fence, one can cut with one hand on the saw.
A floorboard section is easy to remove by setting the depth and plunging the saw to start the cut.
I have used the blade that came with the saw, 24 teeth and TCT, thought it may be a bit coarse but so far ok, I will get a finer blade though.
All in all, an excellent saw, just get one.
I have various DIY tools that don’t get much use but always on hand and this tool has seen some serious use since I bought it. From trimming MDF shelves to a ton of decking in my/son’s garden, along with fence panels and posts. As far as I’m concerned it’s paid for itself several times over just in terms of speed.
Very easy to use and I have found the cutting guide rail (included) to be very useful indeed. I’m lucky in that I can easily use it one handed but appreciate that someone with small hands may experience problems, as the handle is quite thick since it houses the motor. The included blade is brilliant, having said that, I have only used it for cutting wood of various thickness. Another caveat is the cutting depth which is about 26mm – all the decking I cut was 28mm thick, however the cut was deep and precise enough to simply snap the ends off. For some fence posts I simply rotated them and cut from the other side – easy.
My son and friend were well impressed with the WORX, sadly for the makers they won’y be purchasing one as they’ll be borrowing mine!
Used to cut and trim 2.4m lengths of 12mm hardwood plywood. Overall it did everything I required of it but the blades are quite thin and they did wander off the cutting line. When hot the blade had a tendency to start to stall. Doing smaller jobs it works fine.
I paid 89.99 for this saw, it’s currently at 84 but has been as low as 70 and as high as 130. For what I paid I’m very happy (although obviously I’d have preferred to pay 70!). I actually returned another Worx saw to Argos to get this one instead as this has 710w and three blades vs 400w and a single blade for slightly more.
It’s very easy to use, this is my first circular saw and I can cut thick hardwood with one hand, it tears through it and never feels like it even knows the wood is there. With the laser pointer and guide fence straight lines are simple, the first time I used it was a revelation and I wondered what the hell I’d been doing using a handsaw all this time! It does the job in seconds. The blades are easy to change, the saw is well balanced – it might be a little heavy for some but I think it helps keep it positioned. It’s easy to turn on and off, mitre cuts and the depth stop work great, it’s just a fantastic saw.
Once note – use a vacuum and eye/ear protection. It’ll chuck wood everywhere otherwise and it’s not a quiet tool. Overall it’s five stars all the way, it’s a deceptively powerful tool and will make short work of most materials.
A great bit of kit. Should have got one years ago. Just two niggles.
1. The diameter of the motor housing is too big for you’re hand and reaching the on/off switch is awkward
2. The side fence/guide has an undercut at the top and if you’re cutting 3 ply or hard board it gets stuck in this undercut. (It’s fine if you’re cutting anything thicker)
Excellent, useful little saw. I wanted this to use for smaller jobs where my existing full-size circular saw was overkill, but didn’t want to use a hand saw, needed a straighter cut than I can manage with my jigsaw, or wanted (careful) plunge abilities. I thought the 27mm depth of cut may be a bit limiting, but the primary jobs I was using it for were 18mm MDF, 2×1 batons, plasterboard and floorboards, all of which it handles with aplomb.
Small and easy to use one-handed while supporting the work piece with the other hand, if needed. I may well purchase its bigger brother in time if the depth of cut of this model begins to be too limiting, but I’d definitely recommend this one – I’ve been finding myself reaching for it for cuts where I wouldn’t usually bother pulling out a power tool for just because it’s so easy.
Bought initially for cutting mdf and chipboard sheets to avoid hand cutting. The first cut made in 9mm mdf showed up the need to set the depth of cut appropriately. It was also not easy to follow a pencil line as there was a tendency to drift to one side. Using a clamped on batten, some inch or so from the desired cut line, the saw performed well with a smooth and accurate cut resulting. Power is adequate for mdf and chipboard up to 12mm but it struggles with thicker boards. Once the feel of the tool has been got used to it is comfortable to use. Quality of build and ease of adjustment is good as is value for money.
will not run up against a straight edge tries to cut inwards and ruins workpiece,( try out on scrap piece first) you will after set up blade accurately with fence as body and blade alignment are poor. once this is done it a brilliant tool otherwise i would have given it 5 stars
Great tool for cutting floorboards and also chasing walls for cabling. Paired with a Henry Hoover its fairly dust free too although needed to tape the henry adaptor to the end of the output from the saw.
However cannot give 5 stars for a various reasons…
– First one I purchased had a faulty laser light so had to be replaced
– Depth adjustment has a tendency to work loose, so I’ve sometimes cut grooves in joists when cutting floorboards (luckily it missed all the pipes and electric cables!!!)
– Plunge cutting cannot be used at the same time as setting a depth
Silly me. Just tried to cut a work top with it and it did not go all the way through. Forgot it only cuts to 27mm and worktop is 38mm. Lucky I had my big circular saw with me as well. Still, it was easy to use and cut through the worktop easily. Slightly heavier than I thought and the depth adjustment doesn’t work as I expected (thought it would start off flush and then allow you to push it down to the required depth however, the base plate is fixed in place, not sprung, and you have to start the saw at an angle and then let it cut down to the required depth. Not a major problem but I think the more expensive version works slightly better?
Extremely prompt delivery (earlier than expected). All appears in order. Awkward to hold, though that may just be a matter of getting used to it. One minor problem – one of the catches of the plastic box it’s supposed to be kept in is broken (pictured). Is it worth complaining about though?
If you need to cut through floorboards (especially down the middle of joists) or floorboard tongues then this is a great tool.
Much cheaper than the alternative plunge saw and does a perfectly good job for boards. The included wood blade will go through nails but take it slow and always let the saw stop spinning before removing it from the material.
Tricky to get a perfectly straight line on a new board though and impossible to use to shave off small amounts (less than about 5mm).

I own the first incarnation of this tool which fits a 78mm blade, I use it for rebating and grooving and cutting sheet material. it is limited by it’s depth of cut of 28mm ish I love it despite its limitations. So I bought it’s big brother mainly to cut deeper for example ..decking boards… but I also bought the tougher blade for its 1.8mm kerf. This has allowed me to cut perfect channels for weather stripping and refurbishing 20 sash windows (2.0mm is recommended but I knew from previous attempts 1.8 would do.) If you have ever fiddled about with a router trying to do this job you will know it can be a nightmare on site with limited workspace…this little beauty zipped through the job without a single wobble, also trimmed doors, channeled out for intumescent stripping. The saw has plenty of chuff and can cut its way through a fire door.. provided you can allow it to take it’s time and not push it. It is a bit heavier than the 400 watt version but I have both now….a great flexible site tool.
looked at these a couple of times now and couldn’t decide, but as I now have some fence boards to cut plus a section of decking to cut out and replace I decided to try one. I have to say that I am very impressed with how it cut the fence boards, no binding or jumping just straight through three boards at a time, or one at a time every time. The only thing missing for me is the lack of a side handle, otherwise a cost effective saw for small works.
Finally got to use this saw today. Had to resize a door by taking about 4″ off the bottom. The saw is easy to configure for depth etc, and a comfortable weight/size to hold. The laser line produced is accurate and the cut finish with the included wood blade is much better than I expected. I was cutting hardwood, and had no sanding etc to do once the cut was finished – it was good as it was. I was also impressed how easily it cut through the wood. Prior to having this saw, all wood cutting I had previously done was with a jigsaw, which took longer, was way less easy to produce a straight edge and took much longer to cut through the wood. I wish I had bought this years ago. Highly recommended!
Purchased for a specific DIY job, namely cutting through 1/4 inch hardboard laid over (extremely squeaky) floorboards.
Unlike a full-size circular saw this was controllable and could be set to precisely cut the overlaid boards without ripping the underlying surface, and it made easy work of restoring damaged skirting boards with somewhat eccentric angles. Used freehand on material in situ (like a vibrating saw – Wilco rather than Worx, but still very effective) I got a neat result with a minimum of mess, noise and foul language.
As an Amazon Warehouse deal was available I went for it and so got a substantial reduction (enough pay for the Worx 44 tooth cross-cut blade). The only missing item was a dust extraction adapter (a little piece of plastic tubing intended to bridge the gap between a 20mm diameter extraction port and a ‘standard’ vacuum cleaner hose, whatever that is) and a printed manual.
Since Worx make the manuals available in PDF the lack of instructions wasn’t a biggie and if I desperately need to extract the dust some day I suspect a little work with some 20mm hose, a jubilee clip and some duct tape will work as well (if not better).
The standard (already fitted) fitted 24 tooth Tungsten Carbide blade cut very cleanly despite having self-evidently been used previously by a previous customer who forgot the cardinal rule of power tools – let the motor do the work – and from the burning and scoring said customer tried to force a full-depth cut through a plank in one go.
However that turned out when treated with respect both the blade and power tool did their respective jobs, indicating both are quality items what can stand a little abuse now and then, but If you invest in a precision mini-saw, take my advice: let the machine do the work as forcing the thing will only result in tears before bedtime, where making several cuts at increasing depth takes little extra time but greatly reduces the frustration-factor, not to say acting-out and cussing ocassioned by waiting for the overheat protection circuit to re-set.
The only part of the job that required the full-size saw was a pair of matching 45 degree cuts to form an ‘outside’ mitre joint, something the a small handy tool like this simply isn’t built for.
Noisy and fast, turned a sheet of 12mm MDF into formaldehyde laden dust (and some shelves) in mere seconds. The laser is bright, the depth gauge seems accurate and I’ve not tried cutting at an angle yet. It feels well constructed and the blades are easy to change.
The case it pretty huge which slightly reduced the benefit of having a small tool, but it still saves space over a full sized saw and you can of course ditch the case.
I must say, this is just what i hoped it would be – a sensibly shaped saw (like an angle grinder, but longer – though its larger, its easier to hold, with both hands, so its great), the blade is nice and small.
So its perfect for just cutting bits of THIN wood up, without too much fuss. I do love it, actually. It only cuts 27mm deep, but for most small jobs, thats fine. For instance, if you are boxing in piperowrk (im fitting a bathroom), its great for cutting all the ends off (and you can fit a vacuum).
A very good saw which is light, quiet and accurate. So far in use I can see only one major drawback, which resulted in me knocking down the rating by one star.
Drawback – The safety button on the side is in a very awkward position if you have small hands like me, trying to push both the safety button and the start trigger at the same time means you have to contort your hand and you end up not having a good grip on the unit.
Mine arrived today and what a game changer it is, as a carpenter it’s about “getting the job done with the right tool not the most expensive tool”
And this saw is amazing. If you ain’t ordered yours yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! I fitted out 3 bedrooms today with engendered wood flooring and it cut like butter through every board. My mitre saw didn’t even make it out the van today all I needed was this. it then ploughed it’s way through 3 moulded doors all in seconds. So my plunge saw wasn’t needed either due to the larger cut capacity, it’s great for all applications.
So when I got Home I tried cutting a solid kitchen worktop! it just cut straight through, straight and true which I was surprised due to the blades being so thin. This will now be in the tool bag for every use.
Everyone use’s tools differently, but use it right and it will perform and this is amazing no need for a gym work out with heavy circular saws this saw is balanced perfectly and you’ll want to use it for every pro or DIY job.
Handy power saw for the times you don’t want to lug a proper Makita tool on medium thickness piece of softwood. But the bevel cuts are not up to the mark. I had to do a fair bit of filing on 19mm thickness pieces of pine wood which I had cut at 45 degree to get the perfect 90 degree joint. Don’t know if it was the saw or my hand that shook. But a Makita mitre saw gives precise cuts for those jobs. In my opinion this is good for mid precision DIY jobs, but for serious furniture making roll out the big boys like Makita.
Good, but does have a WICKED AND NASTY kick back if you are not careful.
They do warn about this, but how many of us read instructions?
Caused a scratch on the kitchen work-surface I was working on, but only just visible.
iNSERT IN MIDDLE OF A RUN AND THEN CUT BOTH WAYS
Laser light is BRILLIANT and not many have this.
4 Star on the basis that the machine is well built and looks capable. It was purchased for a specific job where motor power and accurate cutting depth is important and where my deWalt is too large to get close to vertical surfaces. This job has not been started yet, so I will make a further assessment when complete.
No circular saw is ever going to be safe but this is pretty good. Best to keep both hands on the saw though and clamp work as you would with a larger saw. It is so versatile and easy to use one can forget its still dangerous. The saw takes 5 seconds to spin down after turn off so just freeze and count down to zero before you move on. The guard does come up though immediately as you lift it away. With the simple V slot guide and accurate edge guide, you dont need a fancy laser beam.
Using the the 710 watt version to cut laminate flooring..Not a bad machine and certainly more superior than a jigsaw when cutting laminate – very fast and no wander. When it works properly, the laser guide is a very useful feature indeed. However, it appears to be a bit of a mickey mouse add-on and you have to turn it on and off manually. It cannot be that difficult to integrate the laser power source into the machine can it?
If you’re not used to this type of machine, you might find the ergonomics slightly odd. Personally, I would like to see a hand-grip at 90 degrees to the body – similar to an angle grinder, with the power switch built in, but that’s probably me just getting used to the machine. Using it one-handed, I have found my fingers fouling the blade guard as it rotates, but i think i will get used to it. can only give 4 stars because of the unreliable laser.
No idea what some of the 1* reviews were doing re: depth of cut and jamming? Perhaps the wrong blade, perhaps pushing the saw rather than letting the blade cut (a fundamental basic rule same as using a handsaw) ………. I have cut 32mm decking, 40mm studding and 22mm board with no issues? Yet to try it on metal and ceramics. The saw is a great addition to either the pro or experienced DIY’ers tool kit.
Just updating as have now experienced jamming …… there seems to be two causes .1. if the timber is damp the exhaust blocks and packs around the blade .2. a change in timber density, for example, a knot or associated hardness.

Quite powerful, cuts plasterboard easily – plenty of dust. One grumble – no directions as the which way to insert two CR44 batteries. Spent several minutes using various combinations of + and -. In the end the two batteries were dead by the end of the day’s work!
My husband had the smaller saw and someone used it and broke it so I I bought this one to replace it and it’s absolutely brilliant, the only criticism I have is that the batteries won’t go into the battery compartment which means the laser part doesn’t work.
This is a little beast of a saw.
I used it to cut up 9 sheets of inch thick plywood that were 8 x 4 and weighed 45kg each so there was no way I was getting them onto my bench saw.
It’s hard to keep the cut going straight and perpendicular to the surface, but it did well enough. The ability to vary the depth of the cut was the crucial to this task as I was cutting it resting on top of other plywood sheets below it.
I then used it to cut out the borders on my parquet floor in a 22m2 room, the real reason why I purchased this. This was much trickier and required a certain technique. The motor actually got really hot due to poor technique. The cut has a tendency to drift either left or right or at an angle and this puts extra strain on the saw which causes it to heat up.
To combat this, the saw needs to be lifted up, the alignment altered to the direction of the cut before being lowered again, in effect cutting out a new groove in the direction you want to go, before continuing.
It also needs to have a vacuum attached otherwise the dust that is created will clog the saw up and may cause it to catch fire. Think of Ray Mears and his friction fire lighting demo, except using a 700W powertool instead of a hand driven stick.
There’s no doubt that a lot of care needs to be taken when using this. Inattention and poor technique can easily result in very serious injury. I’ve had it jump back at me unexpectedly a number of times, so be careful!
It needs a firm and purposeful hand but used correctly and it will do the job asked of it.
However, if I didn’t need to vary the depth, I would probably have been better served with an ordinary hand-held circular saw.
Also the laser guide is sometimes not that accurate and becomes offset from the line.
Now, I’m a complete DIY rookie. In fact, this is my first time using any type of saw since I did technology back at school!
We’ve need a saw for a while just to do the odd little bits around the house, but kept putting it off due to my lack of experience. Anyway, I finally decided to bite the bullet and I had a shop around on Amazon.
There were quite a few contenders, but what stood out to me about this saw was how easy it looked to use. It’s one handed for starters! So being the DIY rookie that I am, I have no vice, or any other thing to hold the material down that I want to cut. But that’s not a problem with this, since I can use my other hand to steady the material.
The trailer of the product on the profile also gives a good idea what it can do. Which i was thankful for (I actually watched the video just to see whether I push or pull the saw! shame on me, I know).
The deepness of the cut could probably be a little better, but for little odd jobs around the house I feel this saw is perfect. Definitely perfect for anyone who is just getting started, or just need to do a little cutting every now and again. However, if you use a saw a lot then you’d probably want to go for a bigger model.
The first task I gave it was to cut through the top half of our wooden driveway gates. Which it quite honestly cut through like butter. Definitely glad I got it, and I would recommend getting to anyone.
You get one blade included, which is perfect for wood. However, if you’re wanting to cut metal then you may want to buy an extra blade specialized for metal. The saw is wired, not wireless, so it’s not something you can use too far out in the open.
Overall, a great saw for starters and for light use.
This is a great little tool – ideal for those smaller jobs where you don’t need a full circular saw. Its usable in one hand with some practice, and seems to cut true. A couple of points on the negative – I left the laser on which is easy to do and now it doesn’t seem to work 9to be honest I haven’t spent long troubleshoot). The other is that if you cut something like MDF skirting on the angle it struggles. Overall though its a very good and useful tool. i had to buy one for my dad after he saw mine !
I really wish I had bought this tool a long time ago but bought an exact saw instead. This Worx saw outdoes the Exact saw on many levels. The main difference is depth of cut, almost twice as much as the Exact saw. The handling is better in my opinion plus you don’t have the cumbersome dust extractor tube to worry about. To cut down dust on this machine use an old t-shirt taped round the exhaust port,(worked for me). I think overall both machines have a niche therefore if you are only going to cut laminate the Exact saw is brilliant and does the job well, but if you need a deeper cut then I would go for the Worx machine. I am only expressing MY opinion, others may disagree so do your own homework on both.
This small but powerful saw is perfect for cutting into all types of flooring for access to electrical wiring beneath. The saw has a well designed grip almost perfectly sized and I found that when gripped in the right hand the saw works well using the thumb to release the safety lock and middle finger to operate the switch (left handed use would be difficult) unlike many other saws of this type that are almost impossible to grip and operate single handed ( in fact I bought this saw to replace a brand new Skil saw that I found impossible to operate safely) The blade and depth of cut are just the right for this task and speed of the blade – lower than bigger circular saws – is such that dust from the cutting process isn’t widespread. I don’t use the laser having found this to be so bright that I couldn’t see the marked line to follow but this does not affect the saw’s performance.
As an occasional DIY-er, I was considering the use of a table, mitre or circular saw. When I saw this, it appeared to fit the bill perfectly. I’ve used it numerous times since it has arrived and it has been great to use and I am very pleased with it. It also relatively small and therefore doesn’t use up too much shed/cupboard space and comes supplied with a great storage box.
Constructive criticism to Worx would be:
1. put some auto-time out on the laser – the batteries ran flat when I inadvertently left it on during an afternoon of DIY – given that it was a sunny afternoon, I didnt spot tha the laser beam was on.
2. Please can you market a saw blade with more teeth to ensure a smoother cu

I have only used the saw to cut 9 Ply Plywood up to now but found the cut to be 95% splinter free in all cut directions across the board. This could be down to it being a brand new blade and may worsen in time. There was enough power in the motor to breeze through the cut without any problem at all. The only minor problem for me is I cannot press the safety button with my thumb if I hold the saw in a comfortable sawing position. I am having to press the button in with my left hand and pull the trigger in the sawing position with my right hand. Not a problem at the moment because I tend to clamp everything I cut to the workbench but may not always be able to do this if I need to hold anything with my left hand while sawing. I would like the safety button to be housed just a little higher up for this reason but understand we are not all built the same.

Worx – does like the name says. It just worx
I got this for cutting wood mostly though I may use it for other materials as well. On the day I ordered this, there was a special offer on a much more powerful model too. I went for this as it would fit in one hand and had the depth of cut and more I required.
I have one of those xactsaws too, that is a clumsy, hard to use saw in comparison to this. Where the xact is difficult to turn on and the spring around the blade guard is far too strong, I found this very easy indeed. I really can be used one-handed.
I found the depth of cut adjustment to be easy and the size guide that comes with the saw works very well indeed, though my own clumsiness did mean I lost the holder screw for it for a while (now found again).
If there was one change I’d make to this saw it would be a tool box to hold it in as the box will quickly become scruffy and damaged, other than the saw really is a great device.
Really nice bit of kit, really glad I bought it, I have used it in a number of jobs since I bought it. The shape of the guide means that it can be ajusted to take off even the smallest amount. Very little kick on start up. Lazer a great help to give stright cuts, it is so easy to follow premarked lines. So why not 5 stars? Can’t understand why it it was made with 46mm cut, as so much marerial is 50mm. I can only think it is so that other blades will not fit. The replacement blades are expensive and as I have been cutting mahogany the wood blade is already feeling blunt. I don’t think everyone would want the 3 blades that come with it, but there is no choice. I hope cheaper replacements come on the market soon. The grip is quite wide and when doing a lot of cutting can be difficult to grip for someone with a small hand.
Amazing tool. Primarily purchased to cut down doors. I’m a carpenter and wanted to replace a large skill saw with a small easier to use saw. I chose the worx saw as the motor is 300W more powerful than the competitions but mostly because it cuts up to 45mm deep others only go to 28mm deep which won’t go throw and internal door of 33mm this beautiful tool fly’s through 45mm which is an external or fire door thickness like a dream. I have many Powertools this one is an awesome addition.
I did not think it came with a guide but it does. Easy to use and cuts very cleanly, easy to operate with one hand. High quality tool, good case.
Only thing that I think would be an improvement, and this is a tiny niggle, I’m being very critical now, is you have to squeeze up an Allen key nut to lock the guide -supplied and stores at the end if the handle. Although if they put a wing nut on it, it would be bigger and get in the way. So they have done the right thing.
I would happily recommend this to all, worth every penny and looks to me like it will last many years. I could not be happier.
Delivery reliably speedy as always.
his is almost a unique product as none of the main tool manufacturers make such a saw.
it is very easy to use especially in tight working space as you can cut close to obstacles i.e. 25mm to side and 45mm at end and the fact it can be used one handed left or right, is compact and powerful, whizzes through almost 50mm of soft wood makes this an excellent tool.
on the down side replacement blades are rather expensive.
the original saw I purchased packed in very quickly but Amazon / Worx replaced immediately and I am expecting to get many years of service from this little saw.
Used it today. Amazing bit of kit. Son is a joiner……possibly won’t see my saw again as he has “had a wee loan!”…. as he said it was a lot easier to use on small jobs rather than having to set up his large circular saw…..

Yes, a very handy tool to have for various jobs, probably better than conventional circular saw for most DIY jobs around the house etc.
But, it does require getting used to before you tackle more major jobs, You’ll see what I mean when you first get to use this saw.
Saying that, it can do a lot of different work, especially with added advantage of the plunge feature, which is very good.
All-in-all, good value, from Amazon. I have rated this with 4 stars because the laser did not work, due to a bad connection on button batteries, and was not worth returning for such a minor fault, repaired myself.
That’s it, folks.
eally like to give 5 stars for this great product but it was for right handed while I am a left handed overall quality for this machine tried it as soon as I got it really perform well and support my job with about 50% to make my meet and accuracy also I feel like I have upgrade my skill like a pro
Great saw. Takes a little time to get used to holding differently to normal circular saw but once done is very intuitive.
Easy to cut straight lines without hassle of setting up guides etc, due to laser. Reasonable cutting depth. I have used with ease vertically and horizontally…very versatile
Powerful enough for most purposes and comes with 3 blades.
Good quality on the whole although cable feels cheap. It should however last well under normal use
Recommended !!
