After using initially it cut very accurate and clean, but after a few uses it got stuck in some wood and the gears sheared off making it unusable. Would have been nice for the price to have an auto cut off mechanism for this kind of problem.

It would appear to save money they’ve removed the plunge action on this version, thus making it less versatile. Disappointed to say the least. Still a must have item though.

ead the reviews and they were mixed although more positive than negative. i found this saw easy to use and it did the job that I specifically bought it for ( to cut round a glass fibre electricity cupboard in order to replace the broken door. To date I have only used it on the one job but looking forward to using it more in the future. Over heating has been an issue on these compact saws (this brand as well as others) but I did not find this. recommended on my one time experience

Good mini saw, does get hot only used on chipboard 1″, the laser is as much use as a chocolate fireguard impossible to see unless in low light, its only letdown.

Good piece of kit. Save me alot of time while decking..

To be honest after reading the many reviews on this item I wasn’t convinced it was going to be the right tool for me there were so many reviews reporting the same problem with the cut not staying true and straight. So I decided to do some research by going to smaller shops who sell building/everyday tools with the intention of getting advise from a professional. It just so happened that this guy didn’t sell Worx but has owned them and he couldn’t praise the tool enough so I went ahead and purchased and as promised was delivered the next day. I was kinda excited to open the box as I needed to complete this job before the Christmas break. The tool is surprisingly big to what I was expecting but not cumbersome if your getting my drift in fact it’s light and easy to control which is big plus in my book but now for the disappointment I needed a saw that would cut 30cm + so this model should be perfect right? it’s advertised that’s its capable of cutting up to 46cm! wrong!! I’m cutting through 20cm and after 400cm it’s cutting off line. now I’m starting to wonder if I’ve made the wrong purchase after all you spend a lot of money on a tool and it doesn’t quite live up to what you expect so with a cuppa in hand I start to work out what the heck’s going wrong after all its new out of the box! … and then it suddenly hits me I pick up the tool and I look at the blade and I’m looking and looking and I start to realise the blade is just to thin!! as the blade cuts its getting hot and the heat causes the blade to distort hence it cuts out of line. In my opinion its a design flaw the blade needs to be thicker or a better quality metal????… The laser is a handy item to have but on my tool the laser is to wide and you cant see my guide line it needs to be a pencil line. But apart from the problems I’ve experienced the tool has a powerful quiet motor and with the blade sorted will make an awesome tool in any bodies workshop. I would like to get in contact with Worx customer services and see what they have to say about this fault I don’t understand how they can test these tools themselves and not get the same results as most of us are getting.

Total DIY novice and not particularly dexterous so really all power tools are not really my forte , but I did find this light and quite easy to use any issues such as the blade getting stuck in the wood and any inaccuracies is all down to my developing skills …. basically if I’m happy with it , it must be dece

This is the second one I’ve bought. I’ve marked it down for accuracy because the screw in fence thing it comes with is pretty poor and because the blade is small it doesn’t keep itself on a straight line like a full size one might.

They are however really portable, make a nice cut, aren’t stupidly loud and the dust extraction even works a bit.

I’ve built this second one into a pair of guide rails to make a mini track saw to cut sheet materials down on a vertical frame and it works perfectly.

Did exactly what I wanted but got a little hotter than I would of expected. Only used in short spells but it did not affect its performance.

Wow, what can I say? My hubby bought this as we needed some flooring moved, this was perfect as he didn’t have to pull up the whole room, he was able to saw through the existing pieces. Fab piece of kit. Highly recommend.

Very Handy to have around. Not as huge and scary as a circular saw and a lot easier to handle. I was a bit dissapointed that cuts don’t ever seem to be perfectly straight but for functionality this is a really good item.

Used to cut and trim 2.4m lengths of 12mm hardwood plywood. Overall it did everything I required of it but the blades are quite thin and they did wander off the cutting line. When hot the blade had a tendency to start to stall. Doing smaller jobs it works fine.

If you need to cut through floorboards (especially down the middle of joists) or floorboard tongues then this is a great tool.

Much cheaper than the alternative plunge saw and does a perfectly good job for boards. The included wood blade will go through nails but take it slow and always let the saw stop spinning before removing it from the material.

Tricky to get a perfectly straight line on a new board though and impossible to use to shave off small amounts (less than about 5mm).

Purchased for a specific DIY job, namely cutting through 1/4 inch hardboard laid over (extremely squeaky) floorboards.

Unlike a full-size circular saw this was controllable and could be set to precisely cut the overlaid boards without ripping the underlying surface, and it made easy work of restoring damaged skirting boards with somewhat eccentric angles. Used freehand on material in situ (like a vibrating saw – Wilco rather than Worx, but still very effective) I got a neat result with a minimum of mess, noise and foul language.

As an Amazon Warehouse deal was available I went for it and so got a substantial reduction (enough pay for the Worx 44 tooth cross-cut blade). The only missing item was a dust extraction adapter (a little piece of plastic tubing intended to bridge the gap between a 20mm diameter extraction port and a ‘standard’ vacuum cleaner hose, whatever that is) and a printed manual.

Since Worx make the manuals available in PDF the lack of instructions wasn’t a biggie and if I desperately need to extract the dust some day I suspect a little work with some 20mm hose, a jubilee clip and some duct tape will work as well (if not better).

The standard (already fitted) fitted 24 tooth Tungsten Carbide blade cut very cleanly despite having self-evidently been used previously by a previous customer who forgot the cardinal rule of power tools – let the motor do the work – and from the burning and scoring said customer tried to force a full-depth cut through a plank in one go.

However that turned out when treated with respect both the blade and power tool did their respective jobs, indicating both are quality items what can stand a little abuse now and then, but If you invest in a precision mini-saw, take my advice: let the machine do the work as forcing the thing will only result in tears before bedtime, where making several cuts at increasing depth takes little extra time but greatly reduces the frustration-factor, not to say acting-out and cussing ocassioned by waiting for the overheat protection circuit to re-set.

The only part of the job that required the full-size saw was a pair of matching 45 degree cuts to form an ‘outside’ mitre joint, something the a small handy tool like this simply isn’t built for.

Mine arrived today and what a game changer it is, as a carpenter it’s about “getting the job done with the right tool not the most expensive tool”
And this saw is amazing. If you ain’t ordered yours yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! I fitted out 3 bedrooms today with engendered wood flooring and it cut like butter through every board. My mitre saw didn’t even make it out the van today all I needed was this. it then ploughed it’s way through 3 moulded doors all in seconds. So my plunge saw wasn’t needed either due to the larger cut capacity, it’s great for all applications.
So when I got Home I tried cutting a solid kitchen worktop! it just cut straight through, straight and true which I was surprised due to the blades being so thin. This will now be in the tool bag for every use.

Everyone use’s tools differently, but use it right and it will perform and this is amazing no need for a gym work out with heavy circular saws this saw is balanced perfectly and you’ll want to use it for every pro or DIY job.

Good, but does have a WICKED AND NASTY kick back if you are not careful.
They do warn about this, but how many of us read instructions?

Caused a scratch on the kitchen work-surface I was working on, but only just visible.

Laser light is BRILLIANT and not many have this.

This is a little beast of a saw.

I used it to cut up 9 sheets of inch thick plywood that were 8 x 4 and weighed 45kg each so there was no way I was getting them onto my bench saw.
It’s hard to keep the cut going straight and perpendicular to the surface, but it did well enough. The ability to vary the depth of the cut was the crucial to this task as I was cutting it resting on top of other plywood sheets below it.

I then used it to cut out the borders on my parquet floor in a 22m2 room, the real reason why I purchased this. This was much trickier and required a certain technique. The motor actually got really hot due to poor technique. The cut has a tendency to drift either left or right or at an angle and this puts extra strain on the saw which causes it to heat up.
To combat this, the saw needs to be lifted up, the alignment altered to the direction of the cut before being lowered again, in effect cutting out a new groove in the direction you want to go, before continuing.

It also needs to have a vacuum attached otherwise the dust that is created will clog the saw up and may cause it to catch fire. Think of Ray Mears and his friction fire lighting demo, except using a 700W powertool instead of a hand driven stick.

There’s no doubt that a lot of care needs to be taken when using this. Inattention and poor technique can easily result in very serious injury. I’ve had it jump back at me unexpectedly a number of times, so be careful!

It needs a firm and purposeful hand but used correctly and it will do the job asked of it.

However, if I didn’t need to vary the depth, I would probably have been better served with an ordinary hand-held circular saw.
Also the laser guide is sometimes not that accurate and becomes offset from the line.

This is a great little tool – ideal for those smaller jobs where you don’t need a full circular saw. Its usable in one hand with some practice, and seems to cut true. A couple of points on the negative – I left the laser on which is easy to do and now it doesn’t seem to work 9to be honest I haven’t spent long troubleshoot). The other is that if you cut something like MDF skirting on the angle it struggles. Overall though its a very good and useful tool. i had to buy one for my dad after he saw mine !

As an occasional DIY-er, I was considering the use of a table, mitre or circular saw. When I saw this, it appeared to fit the bill perfectly. I’ve used it numerous times since it has arrived and it has been great to use and I am very pleased with it. It also relatively small and therefore doesn’t use up too much shed/cupboard space and comes supplied with a great storage box.

Constructive criticism to Worx would be:
1. put some auto-time out on the laser – the batteries ran flat when I inadvertently left it on during an afternoon of DIY – given that it was a sunny afternoon, I didnt spot tha the laser beam was on.
2. Please can you market a saw blade with more teeth to ensure a smoother cu

his is almost a unique product as none of the main tool manufacturers make such a saw.
it is very easy to use especially in tight working space as you can cut close to obstacles i.e. 25mm to side and 45mm at end and the fact it can be used one handed left or right, is compact and powerful, whizzes through almost 50mm of soft wood makes this an excellent tool.
on the down side replacement blades are rather expensive.
the original saw I purchased packed in very quickly but Amazon / Worx replaced immediately and I am expecting to get many years of service from this little saw.
