What to consider when buying a nightlatch
Which size do I need?
Yale Nightlatches come in two different backset sizes that fit different door types.
Make sure you measure the door before you purchase one. The backset on a night latch is the distance from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of your door.
Available sizes:
- Narrow width for glazed panel doors – 40 mm;
- Standard width for solid doors – 60 mm;

I was looking for a black nightlatch to go with the rest of the door furniture.
The lock has a very nice finish, smooth latching action and is fairly easy to install.
My only criticism is that it doesn’t come with a black cylinder, but I was able to find a separate cylinder with a black finish and it was easy to swap them over.
Needed a new lock urgently. These are good quality locks/latches. Cheaper than the satin finish version. Chose Amazon because it was being delivered Tracked 24 but sadly didn’t happen. By accident the normally highly reliable Royal Mail sent it to the wrong post town. They put matters right and it arrived. Lock fitted and all working.
Good product. Arrived one day later than expected, but during the current lockdown situation no real problem.
Five star rating for supplier and free delivery, what’s not to like?
A nice lock very sturdy although when you put the bracket on the door and bolt the tumbler to the other side of the door you then need to slide the lock onto the bracket whilst slip the tumbler bar into the lock it got rather fiddly but it’s doable with patience.
Looks good but now need a door knob /puller.

Very sturdy lock which appears to be solidly built.
Only downside is the lack of grip on handle type thingy. 2 hands needed to open door or attach a couple of “glue spots”.
Bought for son for his new house and it does the job. Please note though that you have to buy two more parts for the lock before you can actually put it on the door. Great idea though, a lock you can open with your phone or a code number!
