YI OUTDOOR 1080P AI + CAMERA: YOUR RELIABLE WEATHER-PROOF GUARDIAN IS NOW EVEN SMARTER!

New version with integrated Artificial Intelligence chip

Rain or shine, hot or cold, day or night, always enjoy peace of mind with YI Outdoor Camera 1080p AI +, the perfect answer to your outdoor surveillance needs, now supported by Artificial Intelligence!

The new version of YI Outdoor Camera 1080p AI + integrates the latest Artificial Intelligence chip by SenseLab, which makes the camera able to detect humans in motion up to 20 fps and distinguish them from other moving objects. The advanced built-in sound algorithms also make the camera able to detect sounds between 50 and over 90 decibels (adjustable). In both cases, the camera will send timely activity alerts (with adjustable frequency and sensitivity) straight to the smartphone, together with a 6-second video of the detected activity. By enabling the integrated siren, the camera will also emit an acoustic alarm each time an activity is detected, thus representing a perfect deterrent for any thieves or other intruders.

And thanks to the clear and sharp Full HD resolution with 4x digital zoom and excellent infrared night vision, you will never miss any detail, no matter the time of day.

And if outside the weather is bad, don’t worry! The IP65 protection rate, which makes YI Outdoor Camera 1080p AI + perfectly water and dust proof, and an operating temperature ranging from -10 ° C to 50 °, mean that this camera can perform its surveillance functions even during the most adverse weather conditions.

Last but not least, like all other YI cameras, YI Outdoor Camera 1080p AI + supports YI Cloud storage with secure end-to-end encryption, to always keep your videos safe from loss, theft, or damage in full respect of the user’s privacy.

Stay safe, stay connected with YI Technology!

NEW AI-POWERED HUMAN DETECTION

The integrated SenseLab chip’s artificial intelligence allows the YI Home Camera 1080p AI + to detect humans in motion at up to 20fps. At the same time, the camera will send timely activity alerts straight to your smartphone, accompanied by a proper 6-second video of the detected motion, which can be visualized, downloaded and shared by the user directly from the YI Home app.

NEW SOUND DETECTION

Advanced sound analytics can detect abnormal sounds between 50 and 90+ decibels like a barking dog, a car horn or a window breaking, and send accurate sound alerts directly to the smartphone accompanied by a 6-second video of the activity from which the detected sound originated.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersHaving bought 5 of these cameras they are now being replaced.

I had given this camera app. 5 star.

Now I will be replacing the cameras, this company now forces you to subscribe in order to get any meaningful footage. 6 seconds only on any motion.

I DO NOT WANT AND NEVER WANTED A SUBSCRIPTION BASED CAMERA.

MY ADVICE DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS PRODUCT.

Unless you want to pay monthly for any footage.

This camera is good. I already have 5 Yi indoor cameras, but needed an extra one to be outside. This works well like the others, but also has the option of having a siren sounding when it detects movement – I don’t need this feature now, but when we had some building work done it was great as extra security on the site at night.
The only slightly annoying thing I found was that the USB cable (needed to power it) is fixed to the camera at one end and has the USB plug at the other – this means (if you are planning on plugging it in indoors) you have to drill a hole large enough to get the USB plug through, which is a larger hole than I really wanted to drill through the wall.

I love these cameras I’ve got 3 of them 2 on the front of the house (in different directions) and 1 on the back of the house. I’ve had the 2 for a while now and never had any problems with them at all.. so I come back and brought a 3rd to be solely directed at my driveway! … my personal experience they’re better than the “ring” as I have one of those aswell and they’re alot cheaper.

Already had two cameras and purchased third one to cover remaining area. Picture quality is good for the price of the camera and so is night vision. Only using SD card for storage so can’t comment on cloud option.
One of the cameras kept disconnecting from network but did reset it to default, reconnected and it’s been working fine since.

I’m giving it a 4/5 as a view on performance given cost – I bought it for approx 30 having just sold my Google outdoor IQ for 250. There’s no two ways about it, the performance is nowhere near the iq. The motion detection is also poor, regularly seeing bushes blowing as people… But all in all good for the price

Connects to wifi easily and quality is good. Not just ‘for the price’ either. It’s a good quality cam. Night vision is ok – we’re in the sticks, no ambient lighting and it still shows what I need to see. Great bit if kit. I will be using more of these instead of expanding my nest camera network.

This is a good camera, but there is some noise when listening to the camera. Also, you can only have 1 camera on the app as then you need to subscribe. I inserted a SD card and don’t need to pay the 80 per year. Good motion detection.

One downside is the USB power cable, it would be useful to have a small connector that can be pulled apart and once a hole is drilled through the wall you can just reconnect. This will save making such a big hole in the wall for the USB connector. Other than that the product works brilliant, great to have multiple cameras on one app. Very pleased with the product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have several of these outdoor cameras from Yi and they work really well where you have a good Wi-Fi reception, which is clearly needed for them to perform at their best. I have a Sandisk Surveillance rated memory card which has been faultless when going back looking at recordings.

The picture quality is really good and I have only dropped stars ad it is not 4k, which may be needed to give better clarity.

You need to be careful where you put them as Spiders like to build webs over them and moths can set the detection off at night, which is annoying, but not the fault of the camera.

Haven’t used it for long so can’t comment too much but so far so good. For the price it’s a neat little camera, looks good, decent picture quality and night vision and easy to install. I’ve now got 3 YI camera’s. The app is great. Had to purchase a USB extension so it reaches the socket in my garage and I’ve also put a 64gb SD card in, although you do get 6 second clips when it detects motion but the SD card records constantly.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this product as I had an issue with people letting their dogs do their business on my front garden ! I didn’t want to spend 100 on CCTV on a product.
Amazon that a great job of getting it to me asap, setup was easy the only negative was that the lead that came with it wasn’t quite long enough. I bought 5m USB and it’s working fine with it.

As you can see it can be mounted upside down you can adjust the setting inside the app to switch the View.

I fitted a 64GB card in it it’s working fine though the manufacturer says you can only fit a 32GB. Some say this is because they want you to sign up for their cloud storage. Whilst this is an option it’s never felt like it’s been pushed on me.

Daytime viewing has been really good, night time isn’t great, it’s OK close-range but anything beyond 5 m is sketching, luckily I have an outside light that’s quite bright so it illuminates beyond the 5 m.

The motion controllers really good, set it into one area and it switchs/moves to any area that has movement. It follows them about, it’s not not like you would do manually but does the job.

For a budget CCTV device is really good, I can safely say that I haven’t had any issues on my garden so it’s a good deterrent.

Budget camera to sort out a premium issue !

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersHad this delivered yesterday(I was going to send it back(but given it was 2am this morning messing around with it) best to wait till normal time) an I’ve looked at some of the questions an to me I’ve found that it works fine on the iPhone 7 Plus(which I have at the moment, also works on iPad 18′) don’t need cloud or card can just save 2 my albums…
Also the question of GHz frequency I’ve got both 2.4GHz & 5GHz an don’t have to turn/delete 5GHz(it won’t work on 5GHz, but fine when set to 2.4GHz ) off my iPhone/iPad…
I leave it looking over my drive an car so every time it does pick something else up it goes back to where I left it…
Who knows we’ll see in the nxt mth if it keeps up the good work…

Just adding about memory card as U can save to Ur pictures/albums but it is only 10 seconds long whereas when you put the memory card in it keeps going for as long as what you’re looking at for as long as it’s in viewing range…

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI was really impressed with this product. It was really easy to install, with good image quality and a two way speaker.

We installed two of these inside our house, overlooking our front and back gardens. It was really easy to install. The day time image is perfect, at night we get a reflective circular glare off the UV lights but it still does the job well for us though.

The instructions suggest that you should sign up and pay a subscription for the Y1 Cloud storage but you can use a memory card instead. It also works without memory storage as the cameras will send real time video clips to your phone or tablet when it detects movement and you can view them at any time on there.

So far all we’ve captured is a fox in our back garden, loads of birds, and a spider who kept triggering the motion sensor as it built a web outside the window, all proving that it works. Indeed I’m so happy with it I’m buying more for my Mother and for my Mother In Law.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersGood points
Excellent picture quality in both good and low light
    Digital pinch and zoom function

    Good rotation movement
    Very good app.

    Bad points
Motion detection “too” sensitive (even on lowest setting)
    No zone control
    No angle limitations/inclusions
Schedule needs more customisation to inc. motion sensitivity/tracking
Unable to point camera down beyond 95 degrees
IR reflection when in night mode

So with a spat of break-in’s currently within our area I thought it would be prudent to get a security camera. I didn’t want an outside camera since I don’t have any electrics to the outside and I am not someone that knows anything about DIY (or want to).

So I opted for an internal dome cam so I could move it around the house if required.

The Yi Cloud Dome camera appealed to me since it had the backing of Xiaomi one of China’s largest manufacturers of electronics in the world with the backing of an excellent app. Many of the of other cameras had very similar features at a lower cost, but appeared to be let down by the android/iOS app which would appear to consistently obtain very low ratings.

Setting up the camera as a breeze and I had placed it over looking my front drive. Video quality was excellent at 1080p in the daylight as it was at night.

Motion detection was frustrating since even at the lowest setting would pick up any little movement from the road 10 metres away and even when I pointed the camera so the road/footpath was out of shot the motion tracking activated. Disabling the motion tracking was not an option since the wide angle just missed my side entrance into the house.

Even entering into the kitchen with the camera pointing 180 degrees away would activate it. Zone control/limits would have assisted greatly.

So during the day I would receive about 10-20 notifications an hour that some car had drove passed my house!

You can control or schedule when to have the camera in operation. However, beyond that there is no customisation such as changing the level of sensitive in motion detection or quality of the recording.

    Conclusion

A well built and quality product let down by a limited software application. If they correct the sensitivity of the motion detection and add zone control (horizontal and vertical) then this would be a difficult product to beat in this price range.

Good quality hardware, shame about the software

Good camera! I’ve got few Yi camera and they are quite good for this unbeatable price (I’ve paid 44).
You will need a 32gb micro SD card not included; I bought it 5.
The camera will record only when there is a mouvement and will be stored on the SD, you can view from your phone. There is also a 6s clip on the cloud which can be useful if someone remove the SD or take the camera.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is my first outdoor camera. I was looking for something that wasn’t too large as it was going in an open-fronted porch to monitor my front door and driveway and I didn’t want it to be too obvious. Most of the other bullet cams seem to be longer and would stick out like a sore thumb.

Setup was pretty painless despite the terse instructions. I downloaded the Android app on my phone and got it working in a few minutes in the house before fitting it outside a few days later. I also fitted a memory card for local storage.

Daytime picture quality is quite good, I’m sure there is better at higher cost but this will do. Night time pictures are reasonable too and the infra red illuminators have enough range to see the car on the drive about 15 feet away. Movement detection is pretty sensitive, it sees the headlights of cars driving past in the road despite the road itself not actually being in shot.

    But…

A couple of weeks later and the alerts have stopped working. I still get the Android notification which brings up the Yi Home app at the Alerts page when I tap on it, but there are no alerts there, even if I ‘pull down’ to refresh the list. I’ve looked in settings to make sure everything was selected, only to find that movement detection has been turned off (not by me!) and cannot be turned on again. I’ve checked the memory card, the Yi app says it’s “in good condition” and I’ve reformatted it via the app just in case, but to no avail, nothing appears to get recorded as the free space doesn’t change.

More worryingly, I’ve reinstalled the app in an attempt to set it all up again and can’t now log in to my Yi account. I tried downloading the Yi Home Camera Windows app on my laptop and can’t even log into my account on that!

So I’m stuck. Live view works, but alerts don’t, which is pretty pointless really…

    UPDATE:

Everything is now all working again without me doing anything. I suspect there was a temporary communications problem somewhere between me and the Yi servers which has now cleared. Rating updated accordingly.

I’ve had these cameras for a year now can’t complain about the product it’s great. The night vision is excellent great for people who live near the country and its pitch black. Day quality is great it’s so clear. Setup was easy I set them both up inside then installed, installation was simple drilled the holes and apply construction adhesive to make sure it was strong. The only thing is that you must have a socket 3 metres away or closer to the camera as the cable is only 3m long. A tip use the plug that comes with it if you don’t the camera won’t be able to establish a good wifi connection.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersIt’s a good surveillance camera overall. It was surprisingly easy to install as it got voice instructions to tell you what to do. For the camera side, I would say I am satisfied by its video quality and lots of features. It can automatically adjust the video quality by your internet speed without losing many details. It also can detect movement in your room as that I will follow to record the moving body until the moving object disappears. I think that’s the most important feature for this kind of camera. So overall, it is a good product.

Satisfied and ready to buy another one

    Pros

    Micro Sd slot
    Cheap
    Effective

    Cons
Picture not great in the dark
    Inadequate cable length.
The cable and the USB plug supplied are more suitable for indoor use

Overall I won’t complain too much considering the price of under 54

  62. JacquelQQNP says:

Out of the box the camera has a great feel to it. The setup is straight forward but take note it will only connect to a 2.4ghz network like most Chinese smart products.

Once setup and positioned correctly the results are pretty good. During daylight the image is clear and through the night it’s acceptable as with most night vision cameras.

It’s worth noting that if you want continuous recording in hd then you will need an micro sd card installed or a subscription to yi’s cloud storage but if you want round the clock storage it’s not exactly cheep coming in at around $60 a year. They do offer a cheeper option that just saves any detected movement. (I’m not sure it saves this in hd either)

My only gripe with this camera is the motion detection and notifications to my android device (No issues with Apple devices). Let’s just say they’re a bit hit and miss and leave it at that. All though they are slightly better after a recent app update. Going back to the motion issue. On the medium setting it works perfect though the day but on a evening it picks up every car that passes my house no matter where I set the detection zone. This is due to the lights on the cars. If I set it to low sensitivity it ignores the lights but also ignore people and only records when I pull my car onto the drive.

One other issue I came across but was easily sorted was the ir light ring. If you turn it on they glow up red when it gets dark. But in doing so when it rains the light bounces of the rain drops and triggers the motion detection. Turn them off and the image is exactly the same without the false triggers.

All in all a great security device that should act as a deterrent to any wrong ens.

  63. tweeter63m says:

This is a great camera. Easy to install and set up. It seems to have a good antenna as it can connect to the WiFi pretty well even though it’s pretty far away and a couple of walls (my iPhone struggles at the same distance). Putting an SD card in was easy too.

The main downsides were a oermenantly attached power cable and no RTSP support which means you have to buy cloud subscription for off device storage

  65. Anonymous says:

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our Usershe cloud storage kills the 5 Star rating unfortunately.

I had this camera now over a week in use and it was probably the easiest camera to setup ever.
The App is very well made and leads you step by step through the process, which makes it even for not tech savvy ones easy to install.

The 1080p resolution is crisp and sharp and only shows fragments on very fast movement, the motion detection and tracking works very well, as long you not too fast.

Pan and Tilt can be directly done from the app in normal view or also in fullscreen which is great and works very responsive and turns quite fast as well with a silent motor.

The Two way Audio is also working very well and very understandable compared to other cameras in this price segment.

The price is the biggest plus in my opinion, this camera offers features which you usually find in much more expensiver ones.

Definitely a great recommendation from me with the only downside that the cloudstorage prices are in my opinion way too high.
Compared to Nest, where the storage plan is expensiver, but you can have several cameras in the plan, you pay here per camera and 90 bucks for the shortest 7 day period PER camera can get quite expensive.

With more reasonable prices or a cheaper multi camera cloud storage option I would definitely rate it 5 star, but you have the option of SD Card recording which removes the need for Cloud Storage.

    Great Home Security Cam!

Great Camera with great App, but....

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersGood product, no.need for.subscription., decent video quality, easy setup

Couple of bad things why I give it 4 starts
    1. it sends notification of motion for even flies etc, even when the setting for sensitivity is low.

    2. I like the Alarm when the camera detects motion, but no ability to control the volume of the Alarm to avoid disturbing our neighbours

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love Yi products, I have their Dashcam, and 4K action cam so decided to buy this when I saw it was on sale on Prime day.

The camera itself feels high quality, and comes with everything you need to fix it to a wall. The setup process was also very simple. There are a couple of things I feel could be improved though:

    – The cable into the camera isn’t detachable, this means if you have to drill any holes, you need to drill them big enough for the main USB plug, rather than a smaller USB micro / type c connector which could have been used.
    – The sound from the microphone has a constant ticking noise which happens several times per second. I’m not sure if my unit is faulty, but it happened both when I initially tested it out of the box, and when securing it to a wall
    – Even though the camera reports as having a 100% connection to the wifi, it has disconnected and refused to reconnect. I’ll see how this goes on over the next few days
    – The software seems great, but I wish I could increase the activity clips to greater than 6 seconds, and I wish there was a RTSP stream available for me to integrate into my home assistant setup.

    Good, but not perfec

Brilliant camera, easy to set up and install. The picture quality is decent. Not amazing but can clearly see everything. It’s perfect for us as normal household. The app is good as well, gives you notifications of any movement/motion. It’s very sensitive to this, which I think is a bonus to be honest. Bought it in the Amazon Prime sale and I must say it’s well worth the money. The only downside I can say is that, because I needed to go through a wall to plug it in, I had to drill a whole big enough for the USB end to fit through. Which was much harder then I anticipated haha! Also the wire could do with being an extra metre or so longer. Other then that I can’t really fault it. Will definitely be buying another one for the back of my house soon.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis review is for the Yi Outdoor 1080 bullet cameras. First impression nice packaging and secure. Item feels like good quality.

Setup – Absolute breeze. Honestly this is the best none English produced item I’ve ever installed. You insert your micro sd card if your using one underneath the camera, then plug it in. Download the Yi home app and then the camera prompts you to insert wifi details and show a photo of a qr image to securely connect. Then your all ready to install. It really is a breeze, the second cctv camera I setup literally took 15 seconds from switch on to ready. 5/5.

Installation – I decided to have my cameras mounted around 10 feet above the ground at the front and rear of my house. I drilled through the wall which took some professional gear to get through two brick widths and cavity space. A typical brick house is a foot wide from inside to out for info. I then wrapped the usb cable in sellotape and fed it through the hole. The cable length was plenty. I then opened the app and with help from family members positioned the camera roughly where I wanted it and used the live feed from the app to help gauge where to position the camera. Then we had to drill through the camera mount to make guide holes in the wall. Next I drilled the holes and then inserted the rawlplugs and the cctv unit. It was just a matter of fine tuning the cctv position and attaching the usb cable to the wall to make it look tidy. We also used mastic silicone to seal the hole we made to prevent air getting in. The hole we had to make for the usb cable was around a 10p coin size. All in all it took around 2 hours for the first camera and 30 mins for the second to install. Again simple really so 5/5.

Performance – Initially the camera failed to pick up motion when I was handling it so I was worried. However once the camera was installed outside it picks up motion perfectly. The app is brilliant it really is, you can edit videos and download to your phone/pc, view alerts, speak to people outside, zoom in on the cameras and delete footage you don’t need. My cameras are around 15 feet away from my bt router and they both get 100% signal. I also received an instant update notification for the firmware on the cameras, both updated just fine. The only negatives I have to say about the cameras is that the field of view is not great, to cover my front and back doors I have to have the cameras pointed right down, limited my recording distance to around 15 feet. Also for some reason the quality on the cameras is not what it should be in my opinion. I bought two expensive UHS1 U3 32gb samsung sd cards and the HD footage is a little blocky to be honest. It’s not poor by any means and when we’re talking about cctv cameras costing sub 50 each the quality is perfectly fine. I just wish it was a little better but can’t have it all. 4/5.

I’d also suggest installing motion sensor lights where you use these cameras to ensure night footage is best quality and increase security (deter criminals). I have my camera alerts set to high frequency, low sensitivity, so I get regular updates as fast as the camera can send them. There is a cool down between each alert where the camera won’t tell you something has happened, but don’t worry the footage is still recorded. The cool down is literally a few minutes. On my storage it’s used less than 1gb for 24 hours when set to store motion recordings only (why would you need to store footage of nothing happening right?) so that’s great too.

Even with sensitivity set to low the camera is still activated by a moth flying in front, but not the wind blowing flowers around thankfully.

All in all I have to say this is the most impressed I’ve been when buying an item from amazon, it really is For what you get the quality and performance is amazing. They could have charged me 100 per camera and I’d still be impressed. If your looking for a cheap, reliable, good performing quality cctv system that is easy to setup and even easier to manage, look no further.

    Many thanks YI.

UPDATE JUNE 2020 – I would now class this camera as 2 stars. The camera has developed a fault now and the night time mode doesn’t work. Also the app is rubbish and constantly closes if you are using it for live time viewing. The camera also doesn’t always pick up activity however it constantly goes off when a fly buzzes past? Very frustrating. I wouldn’t buy again.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersCan’t praise this camera enough. Definition is excellent and I can see it from anywhere in the world via the Android app. The best feature is being able to skip across the timeline seamlessly to the points that motion is detected. It just works. Even better than my Ring Video Doorbell 2 which I was over the moon with.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersAbsolutely brilliant system, as long as you understand what to expect from the system.

It’s no security cctv system but it’s a great system that uses WiFi, home router, the cloud and mobile device notifications and apps so you can monitor what’s going on around your home while you’re away or at home. It all works well in practice like a baby monitor for your house.

Very easy to set up and install each camera. But needs an outside plug or big usb size hole through the wall very close to each camera.

I was going to install SD cards in each camera (not really explained in the instructions but east to find out how online) but having been tempted into the cloud storage system by the free trial I’ve been so happy with it and the original 2 cameras I will continue the cloud storage subscription and add I’ve also bought 3 more cameras

I just hope they prove reliable as I’ve invested so heavily in them.

The only big complaint I have is the App is a but of mess to navigate, with the same functions in different places depending on which screen you are on. And it only does landscape counter clockwise when I tend to turn phone clockwise 😉

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis appears to be a similar product to many on the market, but I am pleased that I purchased this from YI. The device was easy enough to set-up, although – as with many things nowadays – I felt somewhat lacking in full instructions for use. However, it is not complicated, and seems to work well and as described.

Using this with 3 outdoor and indoor cameras now for over 3 months and will be adding more soon. Very impressed with the set-up and settings for each camera individually.
Image quality, both day and night is superb. Using the motion triggered cameras as a house security and safety system for the elderly and this technology is far superior to any monthly rented/leased alarm camera system I have come across -at a fraction of the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsing the camera to monitor my car parked on the street. I purchased this along with a 32GB micro SD card and I believe that the maximum that it will take is a 128GB card. The camera will record only when it detects movement. Set up is quick and simple and involves downloading the YI Home app and scanning the QR code on the back of the camera. You need to mount the camera somewhere that it will get WiFi coverage or else you won’t be able to view the footage on your devices, likewise if you subscribe to the cloud services and there WiFi is out of range then it won’t record.

All in all a great buy, the quality is much better then a standard CCTV kit, plus you don’t need to have wires everywhere. One wire for power and that is all.

    Great Purchase

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve been using this camera for almost a month now and I’ve been extremely impressed with the results. I liked it so much to the point that I will be buying more for my family’s houses for their protection as well!

The camera came in a very well presented box along with; a mounting kit, screwdriver, power adaptor and stand.
Mounting was a very simple process for me, as I have done masonry work before, it’s essentially just screwing it to the wall (or ceiling).

I’m probably not the target buyer for this product. My house is in a pretty safe area and I am usually at home most of the time so I can hear people at my door anyway. So why did I buy this? I’m a tech enthusiast, so of course, I had to buy and review this!

There’s plenty of choices out there when it comes to smart home cameras but Yi is definitely one of the most inexpensive, at least on Amazon. This price factor didn’t affect the quality of the camera in any way. It’s waterproof, HD and has all the other features like motion detection and a wide-angle lens.

Setting the camera up was a piece of cake, just install the Yi Home App, select the camera, scan the QR code and Bob’s your uncle.
The actual app itself is pretty feature packed with my favourite feature being the Intercom option. With that, you can speak to whoever is in front of your camera, and they can speak to you! This, along with the motion detection sending a notification should any movement be detected (someone walking in front of it), makes this a very useful Intercom/Doorbell/CCTV system – it’s not actually a doorbell, but you do get a ping if someone gets detected, so it does function relatively the same as one!

There is an option to store your footage on the cloud if you don’t want to store it natively. My area is relatively safe so I didn’t need to do this, but if you’re worried about people tampering with the camera then this could be a good option for you. There is, however, a fee for this service.

To summarise: This is a very useful camera for anyone looking to secure their house with CCTV, it’s cloud-connected so you can view it anywhere (so long as you have data/wifi), waterproof, functions as an intercom and does so much more.
It’s very competitively priced to the point where you could get 2 for the price of 1 of the better-known brands.

I highly recommend this camera to anyone and I will be buying more in the future.
    Thanks for reading! 🙂

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersHaving looked in detail at all the outdoor cameras, we settled for the Yi Outdoor camera.

The camera arrived swiftly in a nicely packed box and feels a premium product.

The camera offers the ability to subscribe to a cloud service, or alternatively you can fit a micro SD card inside a waterproof compartment in the underside of the camera. We went for the micro SD option and settled on a Samsung 64gb micro SD card. The camera will record onto the SD card and once full will overwrite the older files, so you can have any size card you want, just note the bigger the card the longer the footage will be available to review. Also note you don’t need to take the SD card out to review anything, it’s all accessible via the app.

Setup was simple, we inserted the SD card, downloaded the YI camera app to my iPhone and registered an account, from there is was as simple as plugging in the camera via a usb cable which comes with a usb plug and pointing the camera at a QR code on the phone and following the simple voice command instructions – very smart!

We then fixed the camera outside on the wall and as we did not want to drill a hole through the wall for the cable, we discreetly fed the cable through an open window and then closed the window, the thin cable was protected by the windows rubber seals so if you decide to do this then check your window will not damage the cable first and should not be a window you will regularly open and close as to weaken the cable!

We found that the 10ft/3m cable provided was not long enough to run to a near by power source, so we purchased a male-to-female 3m USB extension cable.

We then positioned the camera to capture our front drive and at 1080p the image is really nice and clear, very impressed. We then started tailoring the app settings to match the type of alerts we want.

The camera has a speaker, so you can be heard outside when speaking into the app although on testing this we found it a bit muffled.

    Cons
    – short cable
    – not very good speaker
    – no 5ghz support

    Pros
    – great price
    – cloud or Micro SD storage option
    – great picture 1080p
    – good colour balance
    – regular updated app

Overall I’m very impressed for the price and am now looking to extend My security further with some indoor ones.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery quick to set up found my Wifi straight away, day time images are superb and the night image is very good. The android app works very well on my phone and tablet. The connecting lead for the power was also quite long, its a USB lead which plugs into the usual 5 volt adaptor which plugs into the mains plug socket. The only small downside for me is if you are drilling through brick which i had to, you have to drill quite a large hole to get the USB plug through as it doesnt detach from the camera. I will still give it 5 ***** stars for the easy set up and the image quality, l also use a YI dashcam and the quality of that is also superb. i also got 20 quid knocked off the price of the camera so whots not to like! Theres also a built in microphone so you can talk to callers at your door. YI Outdoor Security Camera 1080p Cloud Cam Wireless IP Waterproof Night Vision Security Surveillance System White

When I connected up the camera it was really easy and the app is profesional and easy to use. The camera quality was better than I expected as well. I was able to cover my whole driveway with the camera and it was fluent and clear. Overall I think this camera is affordable and very good for the price. Love i

Golden Review Award: 51 From Our UsersNeat compact security camera for my home garden. Solid plastic body and wall-mount. Should not be a problem with the UK wet weather. It comes with everything you need to install on a wall: screws and screw anchors (10 – more than you actually need). It also comes with a screw driver, but that’s for the SD card port. While the camera has YI’s Cloud to save your videos, it also allows you to use a regular micro-sd card which it is not mentioned on the package. The 3m cable is non-extendable as it is attached to the camera, which might be an issue if you didn’t have a power socket planned for this camera – you don’t want to leave the camera socket out in the weather: this bit is not water-proof. App setup / sync is pretty straight-forward – but be sure to make it before you mount the camera – if you need to reset the camera, you’ll need to unscrew a small lid under the camera which can be annoying if the camera is already mounted.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is quite a decent quality camera that has proved to be simple to fit and set up on the network.
The camera itself is very well made and came with wall plugs, screws and a template for drilling which was useful.
With a supplied cord length of just over eight feet, I was able to position this where I wanted without any power supply issues.
When it came to adding the camera to the home network (2.4ghz) the step by step process was clear and it worked the first time, no doubt thanks to the well-designed app.
The camera linked to my phone with a QR code and that was it.
It produces a nice clear image in the day (at 1080p) and even the nighttime shots are clear enough – with or without the IR LED assist light, which you can control via the app.
If you take pictures they are accessible on your phone but there is the option to use the paid for cloud service too.
Certainly, a good-looking, compact camera that works well.

Simple to set up and gives good results
