I love these lanterns and I’m picky, they are black on the outside and gold inside so when on at night the gold inside makes them glow more inside, they also cast patterns on the patio table (more so when completely dark) through the holes around the outside, if its very dull weather you can just lift out the solar unit and put them in doors under a light say a kichen tube or desk lamp, and for the money you get two great.
