Wow, what good value. Glad l went for ‘open packet’ option. Just a tiny mark on block. Knives superb.
On arrival 3 of the knives would not cut a tomato, once they had been sharpened they were fine so make sure that you have a decent knife sharpener, I have only had them a couple of weeks and have had to sharpen one of the knives again so time will tell, The wooden block is quite a bit smaller than my previous one so does look a bit insignificant in the kitchen, I had assumed they would all be a similar size.
I bought 2 sets when they were just over 50 and that was a real bargain. All the knives are good for general cooking and bread slicing.
Perfectly weighted, easy grip , quality knives. Worth paying the extra few pounds for.
Love this set of knives- the holiday cottage we rented had this set and I had to order them as soon as I arrived back home as I missed them! Cuts through hard veg with ease, makes food prep a real joy again.
Bought these as I originally went for a cheaper version and regretted it. Metal handles make all the difference, feels quality. Sharp enough so far, not noticed them gliding through anything however I have not sharpened them yet.
Nice set of knives. But handles quite small.
Gave to my daughter who loves them
Knives were exactly what I expected from Sabatier. They have a good grip and sharp and certainly value for money
I wanted to buy my granddaught a decent set of knives as a housewarming present and these fitted the bill. Decent, sharp knives are not only essential tools for any kitchen but are far safer to use than cheap tools which blunt quickly and have a tendency to slip and slice into fingers.
Sabatier are still generally good quality, although prefessions will argue for their personal favourite but for a domestic kitchen this set is a good starting point.
I have had similar knives for many years and have been very pleased with the way that they cut everything in food prep.
I have been looking for similar ones for our son/daughter-in-law, but have not seen the same thin blades on Sabatiers as we have been using anywhere: Until Now.
These knives are thin, so they will cut with less force needed, they are superbly made and the block holds them neatly available on the worktop.
At the price, they are just brilliant. If you need a great knife set to last years, get these. I have struggled to find anything close to this price for this quality.
I thought I kept my knives sharp before I tried these ones. These are razor sharp and so easy in the hand too. Cutting, slicing and dicing are an ease, sturdy too.
I cannot understand previous reviewers of these knives when they say they don’t stay sharp. I read one review that was complaining the knives had lost the edge after ONLY three months of use. After I have used mine, they are washed which only takes seconds then dried, then about ten seconds on the sharpening stone to hone the edge back to where it should be.
The only real care I have to take is not to put them in the washing up bowl with the rest of the washing up. They are honed to a razor edge so safety is the key.
You get what you pay for.
These knives are the best I’ve ever owned. Very well balanced, apart from the bread knife which is rather blade-heavy and no bad thing, and they keep their edge for ages.
The knife block is very well made and looks great too.
I can’t praise the knives highly enough.
