Works well.
I have set it up with a ps5 and a BT Youview box
Both 4K devices.
The video out cable is critical, you need a HDMI 2.1 cable from the switch up to the tv for the ps5 etc to work
Having never needed or used an hdmi switch I first bought 1 from Amazon, albeit nearly half the price of this 1, but it was utter rubbish. However researching a device more I decided on this unit. It’s fantastic, took me no more than a few seconds to set up and it performs perfectly. I only have 1 thing that I don’t like and that relates to the remote control. There’s no information about what the buttons do but once I’ve got to grips with it it’ll be fine. BY the way it may be a generic remote control but since I’ve never had anything like this before I don’t know how to use it properly.
Easy to setup worked straight away works flawless. I’ve got 2 Xbox Series X and 1 PlayStation 5 connected with no issues 4k 120hz dolby vision and dolby atmos all work perfectly
I can confirm this is 100 percent accurate, hdmi 2.1 at 4k 120hz on each port. this bit of kit is an absolute must have for gaming and work setups where you want the best picture.
the device is easy to set up and has a remote control reciever extension meaning you can hide the box behind tv and still have control to switch ports with the remote control. made from high quality material which is much better than other cheap plastic boxes you find on amazon, i know this is a lot more exoensive but you will not regret this as having 4k at 120 hz on all capable devices is stunning
Used to connect a PS5 and Xbox X to the only remaining suitable hdmi port on my TV (Sony) to allow VRR & 4k 120Hz. Setup was a doddle using 1m 8k cables to the switch from the consoles and a 2m 8k cable to the TV – both units work faultlessly – RC makes changing between the two consoles very easy. Highly recommended.
Cannot fault this switch. Passes DTS and Atmos as well as does full 120hz HDMI too
Can’t comment regarding it’s 120hz support but, otherwise, this is a good quality HDMI switch and I’ve not noticed any reduction in quality.
Only issue I had was with a 1080p source and using an HDMI2.1 cable. The switch didn’t think there was anything connected and nothing was routing through to the TV. Changing to an older HDMI1 cable resolved this. Something to be aware of if you’re getting any issues with non 4K sources such as Freeview, Freesat etc.
First impressions out of the box is this is a well made quality switch. Whilst holding the switch it feels heavy and durable. The weight of the switch is reassuring as you will likely have several HDMI cables into this switch.
You get 1 output and 4 input ports so this would be ideal for linking your ps5 / xbox into your TV and not have to worry about unplugging the cables. During use the picture was flawless with no flickering or disturbance.
The only disappointment was it does not auto switch but you have the remote to switch it manually.
Perfect if your TV doesn’t have enough hdmi slots and you don’t want to have to get up and change them all the time
This thing actually works as advertised. No issues with ARC or CEC. Xbox Series X and Atmos soundbar works without any tinkering.
I’m getting another one for my secondary setup.
This switch is well-made and reassuringly heavy, which is important considering that you’re likely to have several bits of kit plugged into it simultaneously, and you will want it to stay put.
It’s plug and play, so you’ll be up and running straight away.
The HDMI plugs are well placed; I have some larger HDMI plugs, which have proved too large to locate in neighbouring HDMI ports on other devices.
I tested it with multiple 4K inputs, and there was no picture or sound degradation during use. I was pleased to note there was no lag when swapping between ports.
It’s great to have the 8k capability for future proofing, but I didn’t have any means available to verify it.
The light display showing which port is being used is bright enough to be visible from the sofa, but not so bright as to be distracting.
It’s a bonus to have the remote control so that you can change inputs from a distance, rather than being limited to buttons on the switch box itself (these buttons are, of course, still available if you want to use them). Unfortunately, it’s one of those remotes which is on a very narrow beam, so you need to aim it very carefully.
Rather expensive compared with the competition; I assume that’s because of the inclusion of remote control capability, and unless you really want this feature you may find the price too high, hence four stars rather than five.
As an owner of several 4K 120Hz gaming devices and a ‘top of the line’ receiver, that has not yet had a firmware update to fully unlock all the features, combined with a TV that only has one 120Hz input, I was becoming frustrated at not being able to switch between devices without swapping cables.
This is the switch that fixes all that!
I hooked up my Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC to the switch and all devices now have 4K 120Hz HDR with variable refresh working too.
Setup is a breeze and the box includes a remote, mounting bracket and an IR remote lead, so the switch can be easily hidden away out of sight, though I suggest some ventilation as the unit is quite warm to the touch after some time playing games at full bandwidth.
Switching between devices is quick, with no delay noticeable that was introduced by the switch, and all the devices remember the resolution and settings between sessions which is a change from the other popular two-channel switch that seemed to reset the Xbox and PS5 to lower resolutions when not active.
Atmos at 9.2.2 with Forza Horizon at full bore did not glitch at all, so I expect the 48Gbps throughput is probably accurate.
The only two issues I’ve found is that the Samsung TV sometimes flickers when in Game Mode Auto, but that could be the TV as it also does that when running through the receiver on the Nintendo Switch, and it would have been nice if the HDMI port auto-selected the active device. That being said, the remote has direct access buttons for each channel, if you have an activity-based remote like a Harmony, it’s easy to add to your sequence.
Overall then, an excellent product and an easy 5/5 stars. Perfect for anyone who wants to add HDMI 2.1 switching with devices limited by ports, or people like me who are impatiently waiting for firmware updates.
